Review Top Impression Bakery Cafe - Wolli Creek

George Forgan-Smith
Excellent coffee and baked goods in the Wolli Creek precinct. This place is part of my regular morning routine, nice and close to the train station. Perfect for a quick breakfast before heading to work. Recommended.

This cafe really gives a lovely impression with how they present their pastries. Matcha croissant is hands down my favorite —crumbly and has lots of filling inside. Pain au chocolat was rather dissapointing for me, especially after having the matcha croissant. The bread was more doughy and not much chocolate filling inside. The coffee was not bad, but it takes longer than other cafes I usually go to. Until they've hired enough people, I don't think this is a good place for coffee when you're in a rush. I'd also prefer if they call by name instead of the order to pick up the coffee, as it could easily get mixed with someone else's order. All in all, I'll still come back for the croissant🥐

Used to always love their pastry until seeing a long hair inside my hotdog croissant! I ended up just throwing it away… what a $6 waste. We bought it on Friday morning (Good Friday) and we took the last of their hotdog croissant. We also ordered their Matcha Latte and it was so different with the last time we ordered. the taste is just like plain milk with a hint of matcha. I’m unsure if the quality drops because there were too many people buying coffee? But yes, quite disappointed with their hygiene and quality.

Finally I visited @topimpressionbakerycafe and tried their famous Matcha Croissant. I like the shop interior and fit out, which reminds me Asian patisseries back in my country. It is interesting to see through little window how they bake and keep coming fill up the cabinet. So you can make sure you will get the freshly bakes from them. : : : #nutsjourney #bakery #crossiant #matcha #matchacrossiant

Great little cafe and bakery in Wolli Creek. Fast, friendly service, very good coffees and by far THE BEST cinnamon scrolls I have ever tasted!
Ruben N.
The croissants and the pork floss buns are the champion here! They also made the best coffee around Wolli Creek. The staffs are friendly and professional.

I am a big fan of their croissant and it had been consistently good quality. However, i have got a big disappointment from recent purchase. I can understand covid makes business in trouble but their filling was significantly reduced. Croissants have adequate amount of filling, still a bit less than usual. I had matcha, taro and ferrero roche. Ferrero roche is not recommended. Not as good as before. I tried their new bread - raspberry mascarpone cream - and i wont buy it again.. I will update if i can see any differences.

Nice coffee and beautiful baked goods, choc croissant with nuts was amazing

Was blown away by this place. Food was amazing, you could tell the work that went into it but the coffee I had was next level good. Really appreciate the experience you gave me. Will be back for sure!

Good bakery, but coffee bean need to be change.. not good quality, and other things.. place look messy and lil bit dirty.. I only come back because the croisant is good Cheers!

My takeaway chestnut croissant looks like a dog's breakfast, with most of the topping now smeared on the brown paper bag - a box wouldn't go astray.
Jen Luong
The matcha croissant was nice, but the choc & coffee ganache bun wasn't- i chucked the whole thing out after two bites. Good location near the train station. Wish they asked if there was an option to have here or take-away, instead of them assuming and chucking it in the brown bag..gah. but I wanted to take nice photos.

Best croissant in town! Highly recommended! Must try the green tea one, thanks for the great breakfast experience this morning!
Arth Thinaphong
Bakery is great, especially matcha croissant but coffee is just average.
Emma Chao
the green tea croissant was good, not too sweet which i like it, the shop is clean and nice, the only one thing is no indoor sitting space, i thought its like a cafe where u can sit inside with friends, and the day i went was so freezing cold to sit outside, but however its still good, just need to check the weather forecast next time

I am a regular at this cafe, getting my daily coffee. The bakery is absolutely amazing.however, this brista is a total nightmare at the cafe, grumpy attitude towards tge customer, messed up my coffee without apologising. And I was told to wait five mins for my morning coffee today( there are about three table sitting out door and most of thrm have had their coffee served. Im the only one in the cafe waiting for the take away) the other customer find it extremely astonishing to have to wait for the coffee for five mins, while the cafe is considerably, no offence- pretty quiet compare to a cafe that definitely needs a five mins wait. I asked for a refund for my coffee as I have to run and catch the train, I asked the cashier why it take so long for coffee. Even my toastie is ready, she gently replied that it is slightly busy. I accepted that and I was about to go catch my train. This is when the grumpy brista turned around and said "theres alot of coffee to make in front of yours", I took a close look around and I thought " AS if" Never coming back again.

We tried almost all of the dishes here today (with a big group) and almost all of the dishes were amazing and great value! Would say it is one of the best breakfasts in Sydney for the value for money however, we waited over an hour today for our food and about 45minutes in, when we asked where out food was they said they were going to make it now and would be done in 10 minutes. You can say we were unimpressed but I would definitely go back again; just be cautious about the time you go and hope that there processes improve in the future :)

Great bread, great coffee, excellent service. Congratulations. We really needed a place like this in Wolli Creek. :)

Great single o coffee, and really cool fit out!! Will defiantly make this my local coffee shop
Katy Jayne Thompson
Love the staff and food. Avocado and feta is delicious. Reliably good service and quality.

Best coffee and cakes ever, great service and friendly staff

I didn't get a chance to try the bread, but the Coffee is GREAT!

Great food always fresh and service with a smile

The mocha croissant looked so yum but was not as tasty as I expected. It is not bad...just not seemed as yummy as how popular it is. $6 is too pricy honestly.

I prefer their almond croissant with more complex taste and texture.
Debsylou
My favourite here is the matcha croissant hands down. Not my favorite croissant texture (a little more on the doughy side rather than flakey fluffy that I prefer but the custard fillings are to die for. Limited edition thai milk tea version was a little on the expensive side but worth it just for the taste of the filling. The filled croissants do not disappoint! Service is fast and staff are friendly. Their other bakery items are quite good also.

Been here countless times, everything is made fresh daily and tastes amazing. Matcha croissants are the highlight for any matcha lover; they’re filled with a matcha cream, must try!! 👀
Dominic Svensson
I didn't think much of the matcha croissant. I suppose the liquidous cream was ok but very messy, however, the croissant surrounding it was dense and dry - without the filling, it would be a terrible croissant. I'm also undecided on the self-serve arrangement - the size and composition of their range probably doesn't justify the added complexity and crowding. The coffee was a lot better - not creamy enough but rich and hot and heavy.
Foodie Faye
The croissant itself was nice, not so much the bread as it was too crispy and dry, but I do like the matcha custard. It’s a nice concept and the overall taste was good, as it wasn’t too sweet but just right. Although, I do prefer softer croissants personally. There’s also a large variety of breads to choose from, of which I’m still keen to try next time. The bakery itself seemed too small and was situated right in front of the station with lots of noise and people, so I didn’t feel like having it there. Otherwise, I wish it was somewhere with a nicer atmosphere so I could sit down and have it, instead of having to take away and find a place to eat whilst hot, which I have to say wasn’t....

Everyone’s here raving about matcha croissant, but I’m here to tell you about the amazingness that is the blueberry cream cheese bun! So soft and pillowy, so perfectly filled with cream cheese and blueberry purée, wonderfully light but also substantial. I wish I’d tried this at the start of our holiday so we could have eaten one every day.

We liked everything else we got but the bun was the star. We got a chocolate nut croissant and it was delicious, but very rich. I really enjoyed the caprese danish, the mushroom one was a bit strong on the onion flavour but my husband really enjoyed it. The coffee was really good too.

Got recommendation by my friend that this bakery has one of the best croissant in Sydney. Beside plain croissant, they also offered fusion croissant ie matcha, taro, almond, chocolate nuts, ferrero etc and also other pastries and breads. I tried ferrero and croissant with white chocolate and petal coating. Both were good, it has perfect layer and fluffy even not really buttery. Hubby had ham&cheese bread and peach danish, ham&cheese bread tasted okay but i dont like the peach danish, the peach tasted funny. For drinks we had cappucino and hot chocolate.
Sophia
No resistance to praise! Saturday morning, after 9 o 'clock, I just got the last matcha, then I got the taro and today's special is durian. After ordering flat white, I will sit outside and eat it. I like the taro most. The flavor is just right. All right, except sitting outside with the wind blowing.
Mooeymunches
The croissant exterior was extremely flaky and buttery. However the ones with a filling i.e. the matcha croissant's interior tasted a little doughy, probably due to the fact that there was a filling inside. So if you want that buttery flakiness throughout the whole croissant I wouldn't recommend the filled ones. Also there isn't enough matcha flavour in its croissant both in the filling and on the outside. So if you are looking for the bitterness of a good matcha, you won't find it there. The special edition black truffle was mostly hyped as it does have an interesting initial taste, it becomes a bit too much (due to the thickness of the cream filling) to finish for one person.
Lucianna Guo
Croissant 🥐 with a twist!! Well done... it’s closer to the station so I gave it a try... really love the Ferrero chocolate one!! Taro is not so bad as well~~~ definitely good for ☕️
Marcella
Their croissants are highly recommended, they're crispy, flakey, and tasty. Sausage bread and custard bread are also recommended.Unfortunately their coffee is just average.
Miss_foodie_au
Love this place for the famous matcha crossiants. The crossiants are always flakey and matcha filling is not to sweet. Portion size is good given the price. Also try the matcha crepe cake as well if available.
Wish there was a bit more seating but most people seem happy enough with takeaway
JunoYe
It has a wide range of flavors of croissants. I tried the taro and matcha one and I really like them.however, the coffee here is average. They need to improve their coffee.
YUXIPANDA
Quaint little cafe just on the corner opposite the train station. Great to grab a bite especially the croissants. Extremely fresh bread would recommend!

Finally got tried the famous croissant at Wolli Creek. Just located opposite the train exit. Easy to find.
The outside pastry is so crunchy and you can see the layers inside. Highly recommend their limited edition croissant - mango pomelo sago. It’s just taste like the mango pomelo sago dessert. This weekend is the last weekend can have this one.
The taro flavour and matcha flavour are also tasty. Love the cream inside and big portion as well.
Alice4everfun
The matcha croissant is the best seller! I always buy the matcha ones and bring some for my friends. Recently they have new items! Mango pomelo sago is only available on this weekend! But you still have other choices like taro, nutella, chocolate nuts and white choc with pistachio. You must have a try of those crisp and crunchy croissants 🥐☕️
Jiashu Wang
Yummy croissants and great coffee! Loving the "Mango pomalo sago" croissant so so much!!!! So lucky I didn't miss the weekend limit! Another himh recommendation is the classic matcha croissant which has never disappointed me!
Na
Near to the Wolli creek station.
Friendly staff and tasty croissant!
The day is sunny day so it looks better.
But the latte just in a normal level.
Food Is Really Great
Luckily there were heaps of matcha croissants when I came here! The croissant part is great, and the custard actually does taste like matcha! There is a lot of custard inside which is good but also it kind of exploded in the paper bag when I bit into it.. but yeah good to try at least once!
Some Bunee Loves Food
Matcha croissant - Super flaky, crunchy and when you rip it open, you can see the generous smooth matcha custard filling in the middle! Reminds me of the filling in puffs, each bite was filled with crunchiness and custard - omg how am I going to go back to paste-like croissant fillings after this? Would be more awesome if it had a stronger matcha custard taste though :)

Great location, near the train station. We tried the most popular taro and matha croissant. Not too sweet. Croissants are quite big, I can only eat half of it. Try their matcha latte, it a bit bitter flavor but really smooth.
Lily The Frugal Foodie
Like many have described, this cafe has layout similar to beadtop where you can self serve the breads and pastries you'd like. You can also order coffee from the counter. Most will grab to go, but there is seating available to sit and enjoy your selection.

I visited to try their popular matcha croissant. The croissant pastry is so so good. Many many layers and very crisp. The matcha custard is bitter but flavor is true and authentic. You will not like this if you are expecting something sweet. Size of croissant is big and very filling, good for sharing.

They always lied that the toilet key was lost , why would you want to give your customer hard time just bcos they really need to go to the toilet. Its a complex public toilet, they always tell u to go to station.. so if u think your customer have to go to station to use station toilet , can the train commuter borrow your key to access the complex business toilet that supposed to be for the customers ?
Pinicolada
I came here just for the green tea croissant ($4.80). After trying it, I won’t be going again. Nothing wrong with the croissant; flaky and lots of matcha intense filling but came out cold. The creaminess of the filling and the pastry balances out well. It’s just not something I will crave. Cafe was also a fancy version of those Asian bakeries with the sausage buns and the boards and tongs.
Jesslikestoeat
Tried the ever so popular matcha croissant that had been popping up all over Instagram. Flaky croissant filled with a matcha custard(?) like filling, dusted with matcha powder on top, which costed $4.80. To be honest, it wasn’t to my liking. I like croissants and I like matcha but I found the filling to be overwhelming and took away from enjoying the croissant pastry.
The store is located very close to the station and they have an array of other pastries and baked goods that I may try in the future.

I bought this raisin and walnut plus matcha croissant, the croissant had rich flavour tho I enjoyed the raisin one, I would recommend to reheat the raisin for a “ crunchier “ taste

Matcha crossaint did not impress

Top Impression Bakery & Patisserie Cafe offers a self service of a variety of sweet and savoury baked goods, including the infamous Matcha crossaint. There is also a small selection of sandwiches, coffee and drinks you can choose from. Some seating available outside the cafe.

The Matcha crossaint has been something I've been wanting to try for a while because of its raving reviews. But I was taken back we arrived. I guess I was expecting the layout slightly different and not something that reminded me of Breadtop.

We chose a variety of baked goodies for dine in and take away: Matcha crossaint, Single sausage, Twin sausage, Raspberry and caramel croissant, Pineapple danish, Blood orange chocolate ganache, Wholemeal bacon and pineapple, Matcha cream cheese and red bean, Matcha red bean, and a Sausage with pastry. To drink, we ordered a Sunset Valley and Delightful Morning.

The first thing I had to try was the Matcha crossaint as I saw one guy take the remaining 6, so I thought it must be good. I was disappointed that I didn't buy more when there were a few left as I didn't think that it will fly off the shelf that quickly but luckily the empty tray was replenished. As I cut into the pastry, it was flaky and crispy and the Matcha custard was smooth and plentiful. However, personally it was too bitter overall for my liking as the custard had the slightest hint of sweetness to it and there was also a dusting of Matcha on top. I was disappointed as I really wanted to like it. I did not end up buying more as I prefer my Matcha desserts slightly more sweeter.

The Single and twin sausage was the same. The sausage was paired nicely with the soft, sweet and savoury bread.

The Raspberry and Caramel croissant was flaky and crispy and had a lot of raspberry sauce. I could not taste the caramel as the raspberry was overpowering. It was okay.

My favourite was the Pineapple danish. The pastry was crispy and the pineapple was sweet and juicy. The crushed pistachios gave it a nice texture.

The Blood orange chocolate ganache was different. It was nice but a bit thick and firm. I preferred it soft and smooth. The dough was soft.

The wholemeal bacon and pineapple was nice. It was soft and had a nice combination of sweet and salty.

The Matcha cream cheese and red bean and the Matcha red bean was doughy and slightly soft. The red bean was smooth and not too sweet. I didn't really like either of them.

The sausage with pastry was okay. The pastry was crispy and flaky.

The Sunset Valley had mango, passionfruit and orange juice. It was okay, tasted a bit watered down. The Delightful Morning had mango, passionfruit, banana, yoghurt, ice cream, and milk. I enjoyed it, it wasn't very sweet. However, it took a long time for them to prepare as it came from the kitchen.

Staff weren't very helpful or friendly.

Verdict: Matcha crossaint was a let down. Too bitter for my liking. My favourite pastry was the Pineapple danish.

A nice Asian fusion patisserie. They sell both sweet & savoury pastries, including sandwiches. I went there for their famous Matcha croissant. It didn’t disappoint me, it was full of creamy luscious matcha custard and has the perfect sweetness. It has a good hint of a matcha flavour and not too overpowering. The croissant was crispy flaky even it was served cold. 🙂I also tried the Chocolate & chestnut bun. The chocolate bun was in rich & dense chocolate flavour dusted with cocoa powder. The chestnut custard cream inside was sweet enough to balance the bitterness of the bun. Very clever & perfect combination. 😃I would certainly return for their other breads & pastries. 😉
Michelleliem2017
Delicious and crispy matcha croissant. You can definitely taste the richness of the matcha flavour, slightly bitter just like how matcha is supposed to taste. And it was only $4.80 a piece, not bad at all for the value that you’ll get.

Being obsessed with croissants, i also tried their plain croissant too, which is a bit disappointing. It does not have a buttery taste and does not have a crispy texture. In fact, i hardly taste any butter.

Passing by this nice cafe shop near train station. The bacon egg burger is great with mayo sauce. Multi flavour in the mouth. Worth to try. Recommended
Serenia Lee
Very friendly staff! Tried the matcha crossiant, the crossiant was crispy and fluffy. The match custard inside was very nice, not too sweet either! If you love matcha then you’ll love this.

Mediocre food, coffee and service

Went to try the green tea croissant. Croissant was filled with green tea creme pat and was okay but a bit too heavy.

I would not deliberately travel all the way to Wolli Creek to try it and I probably wouldn’t go back.
Choudhary Shika
We no more live in a Wollicreek but we always make sure whenever we visit we try their breads and croissant 🥐 .No doubt there coffee is very nice and they always serve fresh baked breads.

I tried their green tea croissant which unfortunately I didn't like much as it was too cold for my taste buds but Nutella croissant, plain croissant and chocolate infused croissant with an injection is super delicious and attractive.

I find the staff very welcoming and helpful and the cafe is just in front of the station so you can see people strolling which is kind of entertaining and lively for me.

I highly recommend adding few more outdoor seats as it normally gets busy on weekends and literally have to wait.

Zoeeeeeee
Matcha Milles Crepes🍰

We are so lucky to try this amazing green tea milles crepes coz there is a limited quota for each day in the afternoon.
The texture of the cake is awesome as they use lots of green tea flakes to produce a rich green tea flavour on it. It is worth to try this dessert in the town if you love green tea a lot:)

Green Tea Croissant

Inside the croissant is fully packed with rich green tea cream. Outside is crunchy but inside is creamy. Really worth to try.
However it is always out of stock. Wish you luck!
Victoria
I had the matcha croissant and an ice matcha. Both were really good but the croissant is a bit messy to eat because of the custard filling. I wouldn't be able to have it on the go. I found the croissant to be soft, just the way I like my croissants and it wasn't overly sweet or empowering for me. If you go right in the morning you usually have to wait, so I'd suggest going around 8am if you want the first croissant. The iced matcha green tea was also really good, not too sweet as well. The cafe is right beside the train station so you can't miss it!
The Engineer Eats
Headed to Top Impression Bakery Cafe to have pastries for breakfast. The most talked about item here is the matcha croissant. The inside of the matcha croissant is overflowing with matcha custard, which was slightly overpowering for me. I also had the coffee & chocolate ganache bun which was nicer. Washed down the pastries with matcha latte, another strong flavor.
Cham
This place satisfies my matcha craving. Only that, their matcha croissant still gets sold out on most days. One thing that I discovered was, if they run out of those croissants on display, you can ask the staff if they still have it on stock. If they do, they'll surely hand it to you freshly baked. 👌
Pacc
Their matcha croissant was all the craze at the start of 2017 across social media. Now the hype has seem to decrease, which makes it a good time to try their goods without worrying about the crowds. $4.50 for their green tea croissant - crispy and filled with heaps of green tea custard. Not bad. Will come back.

I found this plastic long thing inside of the black forest cake…What if i ate too fast am i need to visit hospital then? I came here before because of the greentea crossiant… However, I was a bit late so that only some cake left… Poor me.
IEats
I absolutely love this place for their matcha croissants which are very flakey and the centre is overflowing with awesome matcha custard. The taro one is pretty good too but I prefer the matcha more. I have also tried the pork floss bun, which was very soft and delicious, and the matcha red bean and cream cheese bun, which was also super soft and is another one of my favourites.
Ryan Jinn Huei
Easily accessible as it's just a few stops away from the airport, the matcha croissant is the bomb! Will come back on my last day to get this again, the others were decent but average!
Aileen
Have been dying to try this famous matcha croissant place in Wolli Creek!Beside matcha croissant they sell many other bakeries and cakes products. The shop has a nice old bakery interior while minimalist exterior. All of the seating areas are located outside of the store itself. Green Tea Croissant - $4.50
Juju K
Came here for the famous Matcha croissant but it was a 30 minutes wait so ended up getting a Nutella flavour crossaint which was too sweet for me, plus very limited seating areas, wasn't a good experience.
Went for a second time at an earlier time and finally got to try the Matcha croissant, it was as good as expected, best to share between two as eating too much may eventually get sick. It's usually 30 minutes wait until they bake a second batch once they run out.
Roberto Mos
I went there for a breakfast bit and I paid 5,5$ for what supposed to be a croissant with NUTELLA, but instead I got a cheap chocolate with some nuts on top! The coffee was also bit burnt, so if you're looking for good coffee and nice pastries check elsewhere!
Mat Moo
Not bad. You can tell the bakers give a damn about their product. But would love a more European bakery and a less Asian one, food wise that is.
Elisa Li
Making the most of going to food places when dropping relatives off at the airport. The prices of the croissants have gone up since I heard about this bakery with injected croissants. From memory-Matcha croissant $4.50, matcha latte-$4.50. It's not a buttery or flaky sort of croissant. The pastry is less flavourful which gives way for the green tea cream, The inside had the right amount of sweetness and matcha in it. I wouldn't say it's mind blowing. Found it pretty average since the pastry top was sort of hard compared to normal croissants and didn't have the nice lamination. Matcha latte was definitely the bitter kind, which helped to balance the cream inside the croissant.
Jacky Li
The cafe is located right opposite the train station. Not much of a view, I think it faces the train tracks. Service was decent. The matcha custard croissant was ok. Its outward appearance looks exactly like a normal croissant and that was originally what I mistook it for. It was then and there that I realised I had driven all the way to Wolli Creek and to not try the mediocre-looking croissant would have been a grave mistake. Did it taste good? I'd say it was decent. Would I drive all the way to Wolli Creek for this? Probably not.
Jessenia Jauw
Finally I got to try their matcha croissant. The filling was nice but the croissant that I got was a bit burnt, the croissant itself was nice but not outstanding. Worth to try though👌🏼👌🏼
Edward Von
Whilst I can only comment and their croissant and its green tea rendition, i can honestly say that its wonderful. Its a croissant how it should be, flaky and buttery. Some say that the greentea custard is a lack luster, but in my opinion is its just right. I was happy that i was around the area and have given it a try, it was not disappointing at all. Is it worth the travel if perhaps i wanted another? Yes definitely i'd give it a go!
Ellen Chen
A close bakery to Wolli Creek. The famous matcha croissant turned out okay, too much custard inside so as the Ferraro Rocher one. The others were better especially the choco one!
Little Picky Very Hungry

.
It only takes 2 train stops away from Central station, also pretty close to airport 🚈 (located right across Wolli Creek station). I was expecting a cafe, but it turns out to be an asian bakery 🍞 They have plenty of pastry selections and a few tables outside the store so it makes a good place to chill out for breakfast or grab a coffee and catch up with friends.
.
I went straight to order 2 MATCHA CROISSANTS ($4.50) 🍵🥐 and a PROK FLOSS BUN ($2.50) as savory. The croissant itself was fresh and flaky, filled with generous amount of matcha creme inside. And it wasn’t too sweet or bitter, just the way I like it 😘
.
MATCHA LATTE had a decent amount of matcha and was not too sweet, definitely satisfy my matcha cravings!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
.
Definitely worth trying if u r around the area, but make sure to get there early (I would say 11 ish before 2pm) because they often get sold out ⚠️
Foodilicious
Finally manage to try their matcha croissant. Its great. Definitely worth a try. Quite close to the airport. I had a friend coming from overseas who walk from the international terminal to this place without any issue. (20 mins walk by the way). Place is small. Be aware that you might not be able to sit there but to bring your food and eat somewhere else.
Ailu
Nice place to take a nap. There are a few tables out side the store. the location is quite convenient, just opposite the train station.
Love the matcha croissant, but anything else is far normal.
Princess Greedy Guts
Have heard a lot about this place with mixed feelings. Some love it, some don't so I was sceptical whether the goods will live up to expectations. I was not disappointed. The cafe is right opposite Wolli Creek station and has a few tables outside. Inside it's like an Asian bakery concept where you grab a tray and tongs and pick the goodies you'd like and pay for it. There are of course the infamous Matcha croissant but they also have quite a few other items as well as loaves of bread and premade items in the disaply. On this occasion I chose the matcha croissant, coffee bun filled with belgium chocolate & a blueberry & cream cheese bun. All to be washed down with a matcha latte. The latte was strong with matcha flavour, not sweetned which I prefer and delicious. The matcha croissant was crispy and filled generously with matcha custard. The custard, like the latte was not overly sweet and had a good hint if matcha flavour which was perfect for me as any stronger will probably be overpowering given that there is quite a lot of custard filling. The coffee bun was dense, dark and flavourful and loved the chocolate in the centre, only if there was more! On the contrary, the blueberry bun was super light and fluffy with a smear of cream cheese inside. The flavours were nice but it was a little disappointing compared with the others. Overall really delicious and fast and efficient service.
EATING BAE
This place is for green tea lover, the green croissant was delicious, crispy from the outside, the hidden inside was green cream which was not sweet and brought a matcha after taste. Matcha latte was pleasant, the server would not put any sugar in, you need to help yourself if you wish your drink sweet. I could really taste the green tea flavour. Tiramisu was nicely made too, smooth and creamy topping with very good quality of coffee powder.

Gaining fame for their matcha custard croissant, Top impressions bakery and cafe is conveniently located outside wolli creek station and has three hours free parking below it.

On our first visit the matcha croissants were sold out so if that's what you are there for, place a batch order or go early if you only want one piece.

It is my favourite filled croissant as I mind the others e.g. Chocolate ganache & salted caramel popcorn a little too sweet and indulgent to enjoy in its entirety. They pastry is buttery and rather crisp and the matcha croissant has a lovely muted flavour to it.

It can't be reheated so if you plan to enjoy it warm, make sure you eat it within three hours or take a seat outside, grab a green tea latte (quite nice), hot chocolate or coffee and enjoy outside.

The bread inside is self service and the cafe from an access point of view is relatively easy, all but the tight squeeze around corners inside. Child friend outside, though no highchairs. Just be careful if you're kids are runners.

Over all, would return for the green tea latte, some of the baked food and the convenient location. Can be pricey if compared to other Asian style bakeries but then again this place is a little unique in what they offer
Anna
As expected the green tea croissant was not all that but still nice. Tasted quite buttery and also had a lot of filling, but the green tea flavour wasn't overwhelming.

Matcha latte was really nice, not too strong but just the right level without being too sweet either. However coffee was very strong, was too scared to have more than a couple sips, felt like it'd keep me up all night.
Sharon
Unfortunately when we visited Top Impressions they had already sold out of the green tea croissant. So instead of leaving with our heads hanging, we opted to give their breakfast/brunch menu a go. We didn't see any baked goods that tickled our fancy so what did we have to lose. We order two dishes and tried their green tea frappe. The frappe was a disappointment. It didn't have enough matcha flavour and was quite average. Their breakfasts were quite good and servings sizes were definitely adequate. It was nothing spectacular just your standard brunch options put together. It did make up for the missed croissant and is a nice casual cafe if you're in the area.

I am all about Matcha but this matcha croissant is kinda overrated unfortunately. The pastry itself was quite nice though. It was buttery and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was filled with green tea custard but you could barely taste the matcha flavour.
Salted caramel / chocolate croissant looks appealing (came with a needle with salted caramel filling) but it was too sweet :(
Doitforthefood
everyone comes here for their matcha croissant and for the 5 of us, it didn't disappoint. we came around 9:30 and the matcha croissants were ready around 10:15 so when they came out, they were crispy and flakey. the matcha flavour wasn't too intense (which we preferred) as we weren't major fans of matcha so it matched out taste. unforutnatley, the other brunch menus (such as the breakfast platters) weren't being sold on the day we went so we didn't have the opportunity to try their other food but we did have their mini sandwiches which were just normal (not rlly worth). their fererro rocher and salted caramel croissant are also worth purchasing! (for only $4.50 it's not bad at all especially if it's your first time)i suggest coming around 10 (it's right oposite the station- you can't miss it) if ou want to get their matcha croissants freshly made (and before they run out) and seating is limited (there are 3-4 tables which are outdoors)
Jen
In a very convenient location, very close to the station. The croissants were delicious, however the bakery was quite small and there was very limited seating so decided to just do a take away.

Came around 11am, was fortunate that the croissant was 10mins away from being ready. Loved the texture of the croissant, crisp yet fluffy. But i didnt find the matcha custard to be strong enough. It wasnt sweet but the matcha flavour was slightly underwhelming. Would have brought back for friends in melbourne if the custard would last and not sour the flight back!

Green tea croissant!!!!!!!!!! Green tea cream poured out after cut it!!!!! Good for the green tea obsessed ones!!! After a green tea croissant, you can try an almond one.

The matcha latte is definitely worth a try !
This place is really popular for its matcha croissant and it was actually really good, it has a nice crisp and the matcha filling is not too sweet.
Snapshots Of Food
Top Impression Bakery has been trending or was a trend (we usually visit after the hype), famous for their Green Tea Croissant. We eventually checked out what the fuss was about! The store is conveniently located opposite Wolli Creek station. When we entered we were a little underwhelmed.. I guess we were expecting a cafe as opposed to a shop similarity designed like Breadtop, by which it operated more like a take-away shop than a cafe. There was limited seating, so if you visit be sure to keep this in mind!

Not sure what the hype was all about. There isn't many seats available and all are outdoor which could get very cold and not cozy. The never-ending long queue is mainly due to the fact that they take very long to enter the orders and after receiving each order, the cashier will bring the order into the kitchen before she goes on to the next person in line. They should have invested in more efficient system to pick up and send orders into the kitchen. I ordered something off their pre-made menu thinking that it would be served quickly. I was wrong. The brioche bun took over 45 mins to be served. Way too long for something which was pre-made! They are seriously understaffed. The matcha croissant was sold out at 10.30am. We waited an hour for the next batch but unfortunately, the taste of green tea was kinda mild. If not because of the greenish appearance, it could easily pass as merely a creamed croissant. Green tea latte was also ordinary. Not worth the time to travel here, wait in line for 25mins, and then another 45mins for the food.

Couldn't honestly see what the fuss with this place was about. Most of the seating is outside which isn't very convenient when it's freezing/raining. A small selection of pastries and bread, luckily there was one Matcha Croissant left when I got there. The flavour of the matcha cream/filling wasn't very pronounced, was quite disappointed actually cause everyone had been raving about it....

Love this place! Their pastries and buns are so tasty. Their matcha and salted caramel croissants are a must to try when you go here. The female staff are also so friendly too!

I recently came here on Saturday to try their #instafamous matcha croissants, which were taking over my instagram feed!! We arrived around 12:30 and the cafe was quite busy during that time of day.As we ordered our dishes for lunch we were told it would take roughly 40 minutes and their matcha croissants would take about 1.5 hours for the next batch to be ready. We travelled far so we ordered anyway and managed to grab a table to play the waiting game. I found the food there are very plain and nothing special, so you can give that a miss.

As for the main focus the "matcha croissant" had the best freshly baked buttery aroma as they were a fresh batch out of the oven and the matcha filling quite flavourful. Also, the croissant itself was very crispy on the outer surface but I couldn't really taste any matcha in the bread itself. The intensity of the matcha taste was not as I thought it would be, despite the matcha filling and all. The bread was more on the buttery side which was more overpowering than the matcha, which made the flavours a tad boring and bland as we continued to eat it.

Overall their lunch dishes were nothing special in flavour or appearance and their #instafamous matcha croissant, are not much worth the hype for me. However, I can understand why it would be popular, it is after all, the first and currently, only bakery, that are doing matcha croissants with matcha filling. In the future, I hope they do a black sesame flavoured one, as that will be the time I will be back.

Read more on my thoughts about this place on my blog!!

The name of this cafe "top impression" has certainly been the only positive experience I had during my meal as it was extremely ironic because this cafe gave me the exact opposite of a "top impression". The staff were all friendly, with the exception of the male manager/owner who was condescending and extremely patronising and made me feel belittled. I ordered 5 items off the menu, two buns, two matcha iced lattes and a chicken avocado schnitzel roll. I had received the buns and drinks in a timely fashion but upon waiting for over 40 minutes, I still had not yet received the chicken schnitzel roll although customers that arrived later than me had already eaten and left. After noticing this, I decided to head back inside and kindly ask the man waiting at the cashier if they had forgotten my order. He asked me to list out what I had ordered and how much I paid and after realising he forgot my order, he just replied with an extremely rude and dry "so what do you want me to do about it?". I was taken extremely aback and left feeling shocked and belittled by the inhospitable tone. Regardless, I asked him to send out the order which also took around 15 minutes to come out as well.

The food and ambience were just average, with the matcha iced lattes being too watery and the tomato salsa was overpowered by the taste of raw onions and had a gritty texture from the unripened avocados.

It is safe to say the only "top impression" I had was that the manager was extremely rude.

Came here for the matcha croissants but they were sold out and not replaced in the hour that I spent here. The service was pleasant with an exception of one man who was very rude and patronising. The salsa had too much onion and put the taste of the dish off balance.

This place is over an hour away from my place, but it was worth the trip! Their matcha croissant is obviously is top seller here, and is definitely worth trying. Crispy outer and strong matcha custard.. 👍👍👍
Only downside is the waiting times.

Disappointing. Came primarily for matcha croissants but as other reviews mentioned, were all out before 12pm - unless you had preordered days before (note they close at 5pm).

Several groups of customers walked in and got the same message; not sure why the lack of supply considering it's their most well known pastry? Particularly as the pastries that were available (also in short supply) were mediocre at best - and even that is an overstatement. Pain au chocolate dough had no structure and was not flaky; hot dog roll was average - roughly same quality as you might expect from a Breadtop on any other day; mushroom and mozzarella danish was flavourless except for the onions. Matcha latte was overly milky, lacked green tea flavour.

Staff seemed friendly enough, but disorganised and there is no clear order as to who is doing what - e.g. who is taking/fulfilling orders, who is making drinks.

Dropped by here a couple times and I have to say this place is truly a treasure! Conveniently located opposite Wolli Creek Station, it is the home of a huge range of pastries from the typical sausage buns to their infamous green tea croissants. The green tea croissant was absolutely amazing with green tea custard filling oozing out as you cut into it. The texture is also soft and flaky, and is decently priced at $4.50. I have also tried their green tea and red bean bun ($2.40) and was mildly disappointed at the dull taste of the bun, however the red bean centre added a little more flavour to it. All in all, I love the modern look of the bakery as well as their wide selection of pastries and will definitely be going back for more ✨

Finally got to try the matcha croissant from Top Impression and it was absolutely delicious. The pastry is soft, buttery and flaky, and the matcha cream is full of flavour. I had come here last week and one of the waitstaff suggested for me to arrive before 12 to get my hands on the matcha croissants. I had arrived at 2pm and they were all gone.

We had a group of 8 today for breakfast. Arrived at 9.45am and found the matcha croissants staring at us through the bread display. Seating is only available outside and there are only 2 tables available to accommodate groups of 6-8 people. There are also another 4-5 small tables that could seat 2 people per table.

Food here is very decently priced! Matcha and ferrero croissants are $4.50 each, the avocado toast was at the $8ish mark and my breakfast platter was $14.50 - it was pretty big that I couldn't even finish it. The baked beans were also another hearty and tasty dish that was popular around the table. The matcha latte here is now my favourite that I've had so far in Sydney - I personally prefer a strong matcha with a decent amount of sugar syrup. For comparison, CreAsion and Blaq Piq's matcha latte is more a pure matcha with the bitter taste which some of my friends do prefer.

The main reason this place is not getting a 5 is due to their timing. We did arrive before 10am, and we all weren't eating until almost 11am. If you are going on a weekend you may expect a bit of a wait for food if it is busy.

Overall a very lovely spot in Wolli Creek, I'm definitely going to be popping by more often if I'm in the area!

After going to the top impression bakery today, I have to say this place is really lovely. It is quite close to wolli creek station as well, where you can spot it directly in front of you after coming out of the station. The staff were lovely and accommodating and my god the selection of pastries they had was amazing. Although i did come specifically for the matcha croissant I wanted to get everything else in there as well! I was lucky enough to grab a matcha croissant ($4.50) as soon as they were finished baking so the texture was absolutely beautiful. The croissant itself was nice and flaky, and the touch of matcha powder was endearing. Inside the croissant was a generous portion of green tea custard and although it was definitely delicious I personally found that towards the end of eating my croissant, I found it quite heavy due to the ratio of custard to pastry. Other than that there was nothing to fault with this croissant. And I did spot a ferrero rocher croissant in the display, so I will definitely be going back for more!

Do you like matcha? Do you like croissant? Then this place has the perfect matcha croissant for you! If you want to grab it, you better be quick because often they get sold out before 2pm! Yup it's just that popular! I am a dessert lover so often times I review their desserts but all my friends who have tried their breakfast and lunch menu say they are not bad at all! Worth a try guys if you are in Wollicreek

I tried few deserts and breads from these guys. Deserts were pretty good, average price wise. I also heart their crapes are pretty good, but I'm yet to thy them.
Bonsoy Snob
Pretty good for a local bakery. Food is generous and reasonably priced. No Bonsoy! The green tea croissant sells out quickly so get there early. Its super heavy, filled with green tea pastry cream which is a little too savoury for my liking. I heard they changed the recipe so I will try it again. Pastries are hit and miss. Mostly good though.
Take And Eat
What is the best thing to do when it is 40+ degrees outside? Retreat inside and stay there for as long as possible... and that's exactly what my friend and I did. Oh also find a place that has food and cold drinks! Top Impression Bakery Cafe has been on my go-to list for awhile since I saw their Green Tea Croissant on Instagram. If you know me well you would know that I'm a huge fan of anything Matcha and if anything is Matcha related I've got to try it!

We tried the infamous Green Tea Croissant, and it was awesome! The texture of the pastry was good and the green tea custard would taste better if they added a stronger flavour of green tea :) We also ordered Bacon/egg roll (which I really love the soft bun), Green Tea Latte (love it) and Mocha (my friend said the mocha tasted weird bcs the coffee flavour wasn't balancing with the chocolate flavour).

The location is just in front of the station and it was not pricey at all.

Overall, we love it! 💖 Would definitely come back.
Sweetandyummie
My friend just gave me some Green Tea Croissants to eat and they were delicious. Buttery pastry and deliciously creamy matcha custard inside.

Cakes look great...bread looks great...I like the fact they do small size loafs for $4 which would be great for people only eat a little bit of bread. All I've had is take away coffee and it's really good .

Went along the way to this bakery for their Green Tea Croissant.. Located opposite the train station, you definitely won't miss out this black theme bakery..

There are some tables if you want to eat your bread there and they also sell coffee alongside some cakes and tarts..

Was told to wait around 20 mins for a freshly baked croissant.. The texture was light, flaky and didn't have many layers but it's filled with generous green tea custard.. You could taste the matcha flavour but still quite subtle for my liking.. If they made it stronger, this'd definitely be my favorite croissant ever!

Village Square bakery. First food retail shop in the Village Square at Discovery Point. Over 30% of the suburb is Chinese so it's good business sense to set up an Asian bakery here. Unlike Breadtop and its like, as well as the breads and various buns they have a patisserie section at the counter. Been there twice now and had a range of the buns with sausages in them as well as some cheese toast. Not an expert but they tasted similar to other places. Have tried a variety of the patisserie items and the chocolate and walnut slice is pretty good. They have some seats and tables outside and are currently open from early till late. They're in a prime position for when the new stairs from Wolli Creek railway station opens up.
