Review Da Orlando - Wollongong

Henry Chen
Ordered the linguine with chicken pesto, lasagne, seafood pizza. The chicken pesto’s flavours were strong and the dish was delicious overall. The chicken itself was not incredibly tender and felt like it has been refrigerated for quite some time before being reheated in the sauce. Overall though, I would get this again. The lasagne was a bit disappointing. It opted for a very strong tomato sauce but the tartness was overpowering so that you couldn’t taste the mince. Although it’s “homemade”, it reminded me of frozen lasagne. There is a relatively small slice drenched in sauce which makes me think it may be frozen, reheated and then topped with sauce to mask any lack of freshness. In the photo though you can see the puddle of clear liquid flowing from the lasagne which is a tell-tale sign of the lack of freshness. I would prefer a budget lasagne from Aldi to be honest. The pizza was alright. The seafood pieces itself were good and the texture of the base a classic wood fire. However, the cheese and sauce are very, very mild in flavour and the shrimp actually just slipped off because the top was a bit watery. The staff were lovely and the food came out quick. Nevertheless, I did not think the price and quality would merit another visit personally. Oh also, in the Parmesan cheese that customers could sprinkle on, found a little bit of mold…

Staff was extremely friendly and the service was really quick. Pizzas were mind-blowing, the secret is in the mass. Calzone with Nutella was amazing. What can I say, we loved it !

Brilliant food! The produce that they use is really good quality and you can taste it. Their homemade gnocchi are like little pillows that melt in your mouth. I recommend the gnocchi gorgonzola. Their gamberi pizza with extra chilli is out of the world. Their service is genuine and friendly. Highly recommend Da Orlandos. Can't wait to come back! Thanks guys. Keep up the great work!

Absolutely delicious! Everything from the garlic bread to pastas, pizzas and dessert… yum, yum, yum!! Not everyone can do a great tasting pesto pasta… theirs hit the mark! Birramisu light and not too sweet… just perfect:) the staff so welcoming and warm! Will become our regular spot for sure…

If you're going here - as the name suggests - the thing you want to order is the pizza! 😍 the dough is to die for, and every pizza we've had has been top notch. The pastas are OK, and the seafood doesn't taste super fresh so would avoid that. Pretty slim pickings for the wine options if you only want a glass. But honestly the pizzas are just superb. 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Amazing food and even better service. I ordered too much and they were so accommodating by putting the remaining pizza in a box. Oh yeah, easy to park as well.

Ordered a pick up pizza for the first time and loved the personal touch of their service! Got a Gorgonzola and pepperoni with red onions that was delicious and with the perfect amount of spice! Good pizza and good people!

This place is the real deal. Amazing food and service.

The pizzas are the best I've had in the gong. The crust is light and crispy with slight bite to it. The toppings were fresh and generous! I pretty much devoured a whole pizza to myself.

The gnocchi was soft and pillowy and the sauce was meaty and flavoursome. We requested the linguine frutti di mate to be done with a cream sauce and they happily catered for it.

The highlight was this starter called deepy deepy, an amazing mushroom dip that was full of umami goodness. Paired with fried focaccia it's a must order.

The best pizza in the Illawarra, bar none.

The dough is made in house and allowed to rest for three days so it's light and not overly filling like you expect pizza to be.

Their white base pizzas are amazing, try the Zola, you won't be disappointed.

amazing staff and amazing food, owners always in store and will to do whatever it takes to make you happy. Wide variety of quality toppings and ability to alter pizzas to your preference.

Regardless of limited parking options, Da Orlando is the best pizzeria in Wollongong in my opinion. The $10 lunch time menu is unbeatable. Check it out, if you don't like it Macca's isn't too far away, lol.

We ordered a home delivery that arrived 2 hours and 10mins after ordering. After phoning to check on the order we were told there was a stuff up and it was on its way.
Hungry kids not very satisfied, two pizzas were taken off the bill however a courtesy call to say there was a mess and that there was going to be a delay would have been appreciated, so we could have other options.
The food was still good
Been here heaps, for takeaway; once had issue with order taking forever but has been okay all the other times. Their bases are something special (dough is proved for 72hrs), lighter than normal authentic Italian pizzas. Very good pizza.

Traditional pizza done well with excellent bases. Plenty of choices on the menu. Super friendly staff. If you want cheap and nasty, go somewhere else.

Stopped by for a very late saturday lunch, the fun staff were still happy to serve us.
The pizza was delicious (in particular the funghi), although a little pricey for pizza.
We washed it down with a reasonable and quality wine, Australian of course!

Da Orlando reflects cuisine from Romain Italy - and even if this Wollongong restaurant is located in unassuming surroundings, it draws its regulars and new costume. There are two sessions for dining on weekend nights, something which I first observed in Asian restaurants in Sydney.

Paid $18 for this sorry excuse for a pizza. I was shocked when I opened up the pizza box to see this. Just wish I checked the box before I got home. First and last time I'll order a pizza from Da Orlando

I love their pizza, the pizza is cooked in a traditional Roman style making it crunchier and less doughy. Orlando proves the dough for 72 hours at the perfect temperature to achieve the best result , we order two pizza - Proscuiutto and Polipo and one pasta. We also love their salad Caprese.
