Review Lower East Cafe - Wollongong

Very good family breakfast (went twice in three days). The French toast AND the granola with pear and coconut yoghurt were both standouts. Kids loved the bacon and egg muffins. Will be back when we’re next in Wollongong.

Great local cafe if you're in town! The staff were friendly and the food was great. Had a good variety of options and provided interesting twists on the usual brunch food.

Had breakfast here. Amazing!!! Try the Atlantic feast or the Giant feast! Girls are great there too!!

First time here, ruined my day. Wasn't feeling hungry, so we only ordered their eggplant toast $16 to share. Asked their staff if it is enough to share and was told it comes with two slices. Food came, separated into two plates, felt great with their service believing they made it easy to share for us. Wrong! They actually charged us 2x$16 for that two slices in the picture! Totally mislead by their staff! Bad experience, won't order food from them again.

This place is amazing. The food is delicious (try the eggs with the special Middle East hot sauce), the service is fantastic and friendly, and the place looks great and is nicely decorated. My kids say this: “I love you babyccino! Banana bread was GOOD!! Scrambled eggs are amazing amazing amazing!!!! :)”

We like the food and the different style there. My partner likes the toast and eggs, and I had the bacon and egg roll. It’d be better if the hot choc is thicker. In general, it’s good. The food is good. Waitress is welcoming and friendly.

The standard at Lower East is honestly what every cafe/hospitality venue should aspire to achieve. The staff make you feel so welcome, the food is delicious (best bloody banana bread I’ve had in my life) and of all cafes I have been to in Wollongong, it hands down has the most consistent and best coffee.

Knew it was there but never been until it was suggested that I (the ultimate breakfast venue snob!!!) would like it??? Given this I wandered in this morning, in hyper critique mode, wanting it to be good but ready for it not to be...First Impression - much busier than I expected - second impression, no delight, they have table service - big tick!!! Sat down, (remember the place was busy, no, actually full) 30 seconds, the waiter welcomed us, brought water and menus to the table and took our drink ( coffee, tea) order...As they say first impressions??? Five minutes and the waitress arrived with the coffee and (peppermint) tea and took our orders (Eggs Benny for me and the Smashed Avo for my vegetarian partner)...Ok, if your a foody that likes doing breakfast and you are a coffee drinker, you know as I know, you’ll tolerate average service and even average food but if the coffee is sub par you’re done, forever and permanently off the list!!! (Often wonder why venues such as this just don’t get that???) ... So, I can honestly say that the coffee is absolutely superb, in fact, I’d go a far as to say as good as the best I have had anywhere...Wow!!! So the food arrived, delicious, both dishes were surprising for the creative take on the traditional theme and I can assure all the vegetarian even vegans out there you will find something here that floats your boat!!! There is nothing better than finding a new gem of delight in the now over crowded cafe sector and I have to say that in my view there is a single overriding factor that defines the good from the bad??? It’s called knowing your “WHY” the successful places always seem to lead with the passion for their craft and the care of their customers and let the bank account take care of itself!!! Which it inevitably does because of that...Wonderful Service, Brilliant food, Stellar Coffee, Lower East-Wow, go there you will not be disappointed!!!

Totally worth the couple of minutes it takes to walk down from Crown St Mall ... best coffee and super fresh & delicious menu, all made to order. Oh and a yummy counter of baked goods!!

Love this eatery! Have visited often for lunches and last week tried the breakfast menu (as brunch). Generous servings - two of us shared the French Brioche 'toast' platter - delicious and enough for our needs. Particularly impressed with friendly service and last weekend Blake was switched on to the presence in town of Sweet Adelines (women's barbershop singers) from all over Australia. He even downloaded our Convention Schedule to be on top of when the breaks were so he could cover any rushes! I hope Lower East was the beneficiary of his foresight. Highly recommended.

The only thing I hate is that the business is soooo good that it never has enough seats inside! I wish they had more space - but that still doesnt stop us from going and sitting outside!

Food was great compliments to the chef! Service was a little slow but well worth the wait would happily return and pass the word on about this little cafe 😁👍

Absolutely delicious. Coffee was spectacular. I had the semi for breakfast. Poached eggs cooked to perfection and with the aioli, salmon and avocado made for a perfect start to the morning.
