Review Lupa Woodfired Pizza - Wollongong

Daniel Swinton
Lupa is a family favourite – my nana loves it, and they look after her well. It combines good, old-fashioned hospitality and reliable cookery at a very reasonable price. Their pizzas, cooked in a huge wood-fired oven, and pasta are outstanding. A great Wollongong restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant. Exceptional food, great service and Luca is so warm and generous. We have never been disappointed and is why we keep coming back over and over. Love the pork sausage pizza!

Authentic Italian food, straight from the heart. I haven't had a good Marinara Pizza since I was last in Italy in 2014. Lupa has broken that record - Marinara is 'beauty in simplicity' and Lupa has nailed it. Bravo!

Best pizza, very traditional Italian style. Friendly environment. If your reading this, do yourself a favour and try the tiramisu - to die for! One of our fav restaurants in the gong

We love this restaurant! We try to come here whenever we are in Wollongong. It serves real Italian pizza and antipasto and it’s byo so you can bring a lovely red wine to drink with the food. We especially like the mixed antipasto plate and the Quattro formaggio pizza. The last time we were there it was Mr Lupa’s birthday and he gave us some of his delicious birthday cake - how kind!

The mushroom and Italian sausage pizza is simply the best. The roast pork entree is also excellent.

Tasty Italian food, with friendly staff. A little warm inside (there is a woodfire oven in the room, after all), and a little loud while there is a full house, but that did give it a nice atmosphere. The proprietor threw in some complimentary olives and sweet alcoholic drinks to finish, which was nice.

Excellent authentic home made pizza and pasta, staff are so lovely and accommodating. Just like revisiting a trip to Italy. Bellissimo.

Had a group of 12 booked in, and were told we had to have a set menu. It was a Saturday night that we went so very busy. My first criticism was after everyone from our group had arrived and was seated, no menus were provided to decide on pizza choices-so we assumed being a set menu they must have been certain pizzas pre picked. No table water was provided until we asked for some to be brought over. Staff were very rude and arrogant. After our pasta course was brought it was 45 mins later and no pizza was brought out. We then asked about our pizza and were told then, that we had to pick what pizza we wanted! So it hadn't occurred to staff that our table hadn't even been given a menu to choose pizza toppings. We explained our frustration to staff and were told they had staff away. The food was lovely, unfortunately the lack of service and rudeness of the staff overshadowed the night. If you want a night out for 2, they could handle that. I don't recommended this restaurant for group bookings.

Amazing food both me and my partner loved the food and service we didn't have to wait long although the place was packed and the waitress couldn't have been nicer and more friendly

A few pizzas, brushetta, buffalo salad and a litre of wine between the five of us was perfect. Since returning from Italy earlier this year I've been desperate to find an authentic Italian restaurant, and this place is just that - from food to atmosphere.

Amazing place and amazing food. The gnocchi were soft and the pizza was superb.

The food was very nice. The staff polite.

Some confusion about menu, however loved pizzas, pasta and entree. I can understand re ambience, still, I would go back.

Best pizza in Wollongong! Always craving a lupa pizza

Very disappointing. Entree pieces of mushroom tasty but overpriced. Lasagnas were burnt. We were given two bowls of salad by way of apology and for not asking for replacements. Chocolate cake was satisfactory but coffee (for an Italian restaurant) was weak and tasteless. Overall, we will not be visiting again any day soon.

my favorite pizza good wine and good service

Picked up a pizza with salami and olives as the two ingredients. Pizza had a stingy total of 4 olives, and a soggy base.. Second time I've tried and second time disappointed

Finally got chance to try this old established pizzeria and quite famous in Wollongong. Never cross in my mind to try this place cause i thought the price is expensive, but it’s not..it’s very affordable with very good quality food. We had prosciutto e bocconcini as entree, i never like rocket salad/leaves before but in here i could eat them all, prosciutto given generously and the buffalo milk mozzarella tasted good too. Our pizza was DIY pizza, so we could opted upto 4 toppings; ham, prosciutto, black olive and pecorino. Put a bit chilli oil, da bomb 👌🏻

Amazing staff. They were really friendly and attentive. Ordered something very simple. Bruschetta, pizza and some wine. The pizza sauce was insane. I need to come back here for more. I would definitley recommend this place to anyone who wants beautiful authentic food made with love. If I could add any feedback for these lovely people, some soft italian music playing in the background and maybe some decorations :)

Had a couple of pizzas from here and they were quite good. Nice wood fired pizzas. Was only concerned by the pips that remained in the olives (all of them). Wife said the chocolate cake was dry and bitter. But we all liked the pizzas.

We haven't had pizza like this since Italy. We come to Lupa once a week, for a Regina, although we loved the specials too. The salad with buffalo cheese is the best too. The staff is lovely and very attentive to your needs:)

Had dinner there tonight. Bresaole cold entree was delicious. Patate (potato & rosemary) pizza very tasty and a lovely tiramusu for dessert. Stella on tap is a bonus! Definitely visiting again

Very good pizza :) Diavola, four seasons and salsiccia e funghi are the best. Service is good, never had any problems here. Their desserts are also v nice

Great customer service, reasonable prices and amazing food and atmosphere. We only ordered pizzas and all if them tasted better than expected.

Great food, amazing service, fast, clean. The pizzas are chewy and delicious. Ingredients are of top quality. We are regulars and always love a fix.

Unforgettable. Rainy evening it was but this place warmed me up...beautiful tasty pizzas, insalade, antipasti plates and more.
We had two selections from the traditional oven - one with quality proscuitto ( the Regina) and another with a richer wrap (Lupa Mezzaluna). The first was heavenly on the palate, the second more filling. It is the delicacy and texture of the crust as well. Service was with a smile and conversation. The young barista made coffee tonight and it was rich, dark and memorable. Bright interiors, many Gen Y at tables and located at a corner of Keira Street. Wollongong is so fortunate to have such a place. Easy parking, you can even make your own Margherita pizza option. And there is also the pizza offer by the metre!

Colin. Went here tonight and was exceptional from the service greeting and very authentic Italian pizza and salads
Nice casual feel

The Best. Best Margherita pizza I've had. Base superb, sauce delicious, basil leaves and fior di latte excellent. Home-made pasta authentic and light. Lasagne and cannelloni understated and tasty as they'd should be. A great place to eat.
Amanda
The pasta was good. Pizza too normal and even it burned they still serve to me. I am not happy with this restaurant.

Love it or hate it kinda place. Had pizza here with 3 friends. the pizzas we had were good but not great. i went for the regina, wouldn't got for it again.
the pizzas are italian style, not western style. (no Hawaiian, aussie, pizza like that).
the staff aren't great either, the few we dealt with were pretty poor, but they seemed to fit into the character of the place.

all in all, not a bad place but probably wouldn't go back.

DISGUSTING OVER PRICED. Any good reviews on this place must be by the owners themselves!
The food here is terrible, I may as well have eated tinned spaghetti and frozen pizza.
THE WORST FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN
Goodfoodlover
Great food, not just pizza. I eat there at least once a week and most times just ask Luca to feed us rather than order from the menu. Excellent specials!
Harry
Authentic without compromise.. Theres no messing around here. Authentic Napoli style pizza (probably best spelt with an 'e' on the end), with just the right combination of toppings handled with restraint.

This is how pizza should be. There is much more to a good slice than how many toppings it can hold; its about the quality of the way its made and the produce it is made up of. This place is consistently good, always full of customers but the excellent waiters never miss a beat nor keep you waiting. Repeat customers are remembered and respected.

My favourite restaurant in Wollongong hands down.

Walked in without a booking at 7pm on a Friday, sat, fed and back out the door completely satisfied with our 2 year old son in 30 minutes. Fantastic!

Authentic Italian pizza. These are definitely the most authentic Italian pizzas in town, and delicious. Excellent favours with quality Italian prosciutto, salsiccia (sausage), cheeses etc. Sure, if you want max grease, dough and toppings, go to Dominos. But I know where I'll be.

Great food which has kept me coming back. The service is absolutely terrible though and they have a huge amount of improving to do in this area.

Definitely not value for money. The pizza isn't bad - but charging $17.50 for something with only two toppings which you can make at home for half the price - not worth it.
Aran
Very nice appetizers, the bruschetta pizza is great. The antipasto and salads are quite nice also. But the pizza is hopeless. Very thin base, hardly any topping, and VERY reluctant to add any extra topping. Very pricey pizzas also. For the same money, Domino's pizza is better and bigger. If you don't order pizza, this is a great place to go.
