Review Kurtosh - Wollongong

It's a dismal place, but interesting. I really like it. The coffee is very good and the cakes are delicious. You can choose as much or as little of the sweets as you want. I would recommend Kurtosh for a post luncheon or dinner coffee.

Visited this place many times. Friendly service. Nice Cozy One with great tea. Cakes sold by grams, can get a small or big as you want. Great vegan Kurtosh bread. Weekends is usually crowded and busy.

Hi there, I went in last night and lined up in the queue which was a little long but we were happy to wait. The line got longer after we arrived. As we were approaching the counter the staff were starting to get a bit heated with one another. It was obviously a very busy Friday night and there was only 3 staff members on. The stress levels were very high. I was up to order and the lady at the register was doing something, perhaps refunding a customer? I’m not sure but she wouldn’t look at me and the other lady that was serving looked at me and then served the people after me when I had lined up longer than they did. I ended up walking out. I felt unwelcome and as if my presence was a burden on the people working there. I totally get the stresses of hospo and I felt for the girls.. Because at that point they’re feeling stressed and annoyed with each other which to me reflects how they’re being treated by the business because they’re understaffed and overworked for probably not a good enough wage to care in my opinion. And if the manager was on that night… They were seeing red.

Coffee was surprisingly good. Baked goods were disappointing, flies in the pastry cabinet, curd was grainy and kid's cones were stale. Service was slow and very basic. Perhaps I would put up with all of that for the good coffee, however, toilets were totally overflowing, and when the staff were alerted, the staff member shrugged and said "yeah, they're all like that". This is obviously unacceptable and we won't be returning

As someone who has been visiting this cafe since it opened I have to say I was bitterly disappointed with my experience here today. Upon arriving, there was 1 group of 3 people seated inside and two staff working. While waiting to be served at the counter, we noticed a pigeon helping himself to the pistachio crumbs at the baking station. Once the waitress came to take our order we were told it would be 1 hour wait on our kurtosh. Despite it being nearly empty. Sure I can understand delivery orders but surely it shouldn't take an hour to make the namesake pastry of the cafe. I'm sad to say I've watched this place go downhill over time, it seems to be understaffed more often than not. Definitely not the staff's fault but moreso bad management.

Useless staff, waited 20 mins for a take away coffee wasn’t busy at all they were just useless. Never got my coffee and didn’t bother asking for my money back as I genuinely didn’t think that they would be able to even do this simple task. I’ve been before though, good coffees and good cakes, just need to invest in some better staff.

Love this little hidden gem! What can I say about this desert bar! Yum! Yum! Yum! I know that when I'm next in the Gong that's where I am going. It cute and quirky. It's okay on price, I wouldn't say it's the most expensive place however most deserts are approximately $5.80 per 100 grams. Will not lie it's worth it for me because I had so many choices. Yes they have gluten free options which is good for anyone with celiac disease.

Good coffee and really nice cakes to accompany (slab cakes served to desired serving size and priced by weight). Always a nice way to finish a dinner at one of the many surrounding restaurants
