Review Pepe's On The Beach - Wollongong

Ordered seafood platter for dinner. Good selections of seafood including lobster and crab. Salmon was over cooked but prawns smoked salmon, batter fish, crumbed prawns all cook well. Good value

One of the worst burgers ever, MacDonald big mac is 1000 times better. Never come back again. The guy at the bar was very unfriendly and racist, shame on you guys that we try to support you in this Covid times and you treat us like that.

Such Great foods for breakfast lunch and dinner 😻 😋. Best restaurants around the area. Very respectful and great worker's. Thank you so much!!!

Not the best , unfortunate as it’s such a lovely spot , ruined by slow service , young staff with no experience , Can’t complain about the drinks , but the fact it takes 45mins to get them ……. Food is horrible , covered in grease and unfortunately not cooked

Absolutely loved this place. Beautiful location with water views, friendly staff and awesome food! We ordered the seafood player for 2 which was plenty to feed 3 or 4 people. The seafood was so fresh and the flavours were very nice. I'd definitely come back here A+++

We were 4 adults and a young child on a Weekend lunch time. Between us we had salads, burgers, chips etc. Staff were good and got the 2 fussy eaters orders right. Reasonably priced. Options to sit inside or in open air terrace style group sections. Toilet facilities pretty good. We were the ones with the noisy child this time so didn’t stay long but it’s a good size place so room to spread out. Big car park next door and beautiful beach across the road to walk off the chips afterwards. Worth a visit.

We had a really disappointing visit. Most of the staff were rude and one treated us with contempt. The table we had reserved was filthy, and we had to find it ourselves as no one wanted to help. The cocktail jug we ordered was awful – really sour and not mixed at all. It was brought out by a staff member who didn't make eye contact or acknowledge our existence and placed it at the furthest point away from us on the table. When we went up to order, we were told there would be at least a 45 min wait on food, even though only about half the restaurant was full and most tables already had food. We took this as our opportunity to leave and not have to eat the poorly-reviewed food. Find somewhere else for drinks and food.

Friendly staff - checked and confirmed on the ingredients as there we had dietary restrictions in our group. Sweet potato fries was good, vegetarian options available. Service time was OK. Relaxed and spacious setup.

Stopped in here for a pitstop back from our Easter weekend road trip and was pleasantly surprised. Food was well priced and super yum, all our plates left the table basically licked clean. Also I’m pretty sure all the staff members are models

The place looks nice and it’s a good place in terms of location and ambience but the food is garbage. Cheeseburger sliders had gristle in almost every mouthful that led to us wondering what we’d bitten into, only to spit most of it into napkins. The bread was also quite old. It’s a shame this dish wasn’t good because it’s a nice looking spot.

Very rude staff, unfriendly and was made to feel unwelcome. Waiter dropped cutlery on floor and place them back on the table. Lovely location, nice food.
Ambience is good with a nice oceanview. Service is actually pretty good and the staff were all smiles.

Cocktail wasnt so bad, tortilla chips with dippin sauce was quite nice.

Fried boneless Chickens sauce was supposed to be a salsa?? But it taste like water and tomato slices. No idea what that was. Perhaps change the sauce to something like Chilli Mayo or a trio of different sauces.

The sliders was a bit charred , edible but was nothing special.

I've always wanted to experience bar life and dining out of Sydney. I was impressed with this bar's website and interior as they were both welcoming.

Staff were polite, and we didn't have trouble finding a table considering it was a public holiday. On another note, the meals took a long time to come (more than half an hour) and when my friend's meal arrived it was cold which was very disappointing.

On a lighter note my dish was a special which was delicious and I can't quite criticise what was delivered to me.

The eggs were plain okay. Even though had asked for spicy it wasn't. The rare fresh coconut water available at Pepe's on the beach was super refreshing though!

--A drop of ink may make a million think.
@AyaashPaw

Worst service ever! Waited 50 minutes for food and when I chased it up, no tea explanation given considering I saw the girl print my docket out. Even when I mentioned they are notorious for poor service no acknowledgment of it. Fix your act up piss poor service!

People generally comment about food , service and ambience when reviewing a place.
Trying to be fair here as the place have potential.

Food : 2.5
Service : -1 (do they even have minus rating??)
Ambience : 4

Ambience is great. Nice view, nice music and nice decor.

Food : we had bacon n egg, burrito wrap , crab egg and big breakfast.
Crab egg is pretty much fried egg wrapped.
Burrito wrap : can barely taste the chorizo!
And the rest is fair. Cant really make a bad bacon n egg or big breakfast :)

Service is really bad 2nd to ones we had 7 years near The Rocks. A friend ordered a dish and did not come out after 45 mins. When we question where the dish went, they apologise and offered a refund !?!?

Hope Pepe's management can fix their issue.

Crap. Has taken 10 minutes to make an order when I was first in line. The coffee finally came out after 40 minutes and tasted like milk. We ordered muesli and poached eggs so hardly much cooking to be done. The place is half empty so I don't know what has happened the only positive thing I can say about this place is they refunded my money when asked.

Bright, open and vibrant atmosphere set right on the beach.Unfortunately the weekend crowd can appear a bit pretentious, which does detract from the location and views. The food is yuuuuuuumy, but you do pay for it. They also seem to block off tables and the outdoor portions with reservations that aren't due for hours, which limits seating. The bartenders need to pick up the pace and try a smile too. I would go here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice

Good food but service needs to be improved. Received wrong food, drinks hadn't arrived until half way through my breakfast. Missing hash brown in my meal. Great location and decor.

Great location though the menu really lets this place down. The items force you to either get a big tasting plate or multiple small dishes, all of which need to be the same when ordering lots of three. Bizarre. Our table really wanted some main courses and instead had to share. Not the cheapest place either

Pepe’s is another new contender in the small bar movement that is taking over Wollongong, and it is long overdue. Considering Wollongong’s beachy reputation and laid-back vibes, I’m surprised it’s taken this long to create a venue making the most of the town’s foreshore, and I wonder why there aren’t more such venues. Located on Cliff Road underneath the Novotel Northbeach, the bar is set just across from one of Wollongong’s most popular beaches. The newly refurbished bar has shed its somewhat shady past and has taken over from the less-than-beachy Beach Bar that formerly resided there. The design is fresh, nautical, and brightly coloured, and fits in perfectly with the laid-back vibes and salty air of North Wollongong. While I believe it’s still figuring out its groove and staffing, I’m confident this is going to be my new fave summer hang out. Pepe’s On The Beach Novotel Wollongong NorthBeach, 2-14 Cliff Road, Wollongong NSW Phone: (02) 4224 3111 Web: pepesonthebeach.com.au Three Chimneys Three Chimneys is a culmination of bar, bakery and cafe and is a hit with CBD workers, young families and coffee-drinking hipsters alike. The venue is another easy-to-miss gem, tucked away behind the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre and backing onto Crown Street. It is a refurbished warehouse space, with a coffee roastery and woodfired sourdough bakery tucked away in the bar/cafe space. While I find the service can be a bit hit-and-miss, it has a unique atmosphere unlike any other venue in Wollongong and consistently good food. The venue also hosts live music while serving up tasty meals and drinks including craft beer, cider and cocktails. Three Chimneys 63-65 Crown Street, Wollongong NSW Phone: (02) 4243 1108 Web: www.facebook.com/threechimneys2500 The Little Prince The Little Prince was probably the pioneer of the small bar wave in Wollongong, and it’s still going strong.
