Can't think of a better cafe to visit in the Adelaide Hills. Amazing coffee, delicious food and such a beautiful setting. I didn't think you could beat the courtyard in summer, but there is just something magical about Avalon in winter as well - an absolute winner!!

Delightfully fresh food. Really nice and efficient service and a lovely environment to have lunch today in Woodside. I really enjoyed my dumplings and dumpling soup. I would thoroughly recommend Avalon of Woodside. I will be back.
Really gorgeous building and decor, in addition to coffee and light meals they sell pretty trinkets of the shabby chic/French provincial style.
Mild but nice coffee. Cakes ok, nothing mind blowing. Very nice staff, it's the Adl Hills, country charm is free.
Nice peaceful setting, friendly service, light lunches excellent house made cakes and sweets, good coffee. What's not to like? Not all that easy to find, but that's part of the charm.
This is a delightful cafe tucked behind the shops in the little village of Woodside in the Adelaide Hills. I loved that there is a well-loved copy of Avalon by Anya Seyton displayed on a shelf, giving the name of the cafe some meaning. I had a latte and a small lemon tart, just one bite of sweetness. The space is well planned and the layout with all the bric a brac gives you a lot to look at. The ouside spaces are quite charming. Definitely would return if I lived in the area.
An Adelaide Hills French Style Cafe"
This Cafe located at the rear, of block 54 Onkaparinga Valley Rd, Woodside, Main Street. This French Style Cafe is far more than a coffee, cake stop, we have returned here on number of occasions as a special treat. Apart from the fact that they serve excellent coffee, accompanied with mouth watering cakes, with a good kitchen and chef. As you dine inside or alfresco, your eyes will feast on, antique French style furniture (painted), many and various old and unusual objects. All for sale at very reasonable prices. Thus creating a very relaxing ambience, as you wander about viewing so many interesting items. This venue would be an ideal place for a wedding, and I understand larger group bookings are essential.
This Cafe/Antique Store is a WIN in my books!. This cafe/ antique store is a hidden beauty of the Adelaide Hills. Being set off the road its a quiet retreat from the bustling streets, with the best coffee and locally made cakes, its a treat I treat myself to almost everyday. I highly recommend you to check this place out for coffee, cake, light lunch or for one of their delicious 100% fruit house made gelati!! Ahhhhhh soooo good!! The staff are always welcoming and always smiling, you just cant pass up great service! I have lived in Woodside for the past 10 years and been waiting for a place like this to open up.
I absolutely adore this place. I'm a regular and a coffee connoisseur! Exceptional service and a I love their giftware. Well done girls :-)
Fantastic place to visit, shop & indulge. "Avalon of Woodside". Combines, a Cafe and a delightful French style furniture and giftware shop.
The grandeur of Avalon, is apparent as soon as you walk through the wrought iron entrance gates. Set well back on a raised block, the two storey building looks as if it could have been there for 200 years, although only built in 2010, using locally quarried stone and traditional architecture. French style fountains and garden ornaments line the path to an elevated alfresco area, leading into the main entrance. You are greeted by a myriad of French style reproduction furniture and decor items, with a few genuine antiques dotted around. Glassware, china, busts, clocks, light fittings, mirrors, candlesticks, furniture and giftware abound. The large dining area has two huge concrete fireplaces either side, traditional and ancient looking, bedecked with an array of eclectic international treasures for sale. The walls and ceilings are shades of white, contrasted with a striking polished concrete terrazzo floor in warm terracotta. Opposite the entrance is an antique style counter sitting beside a glass display case of tempting cakes, slices, chocolates, French tarts, and topped with large cookie jars and "Cottonville Farm" jams". From the counter you can view the French farm style kitchen with the courtyard beyond, where a high stone wall provides shelter and privacy, all totally charming.
We enjoyed a freshly prepared home cooked lunch, from a small menu that changes daily. A famous Paul Vanzati, organic wood-oven pie, from Bull Creek, with a delicious side salad, plus tuna cakes with sweet chilli sauce and fresh salad, both excellent choices. The Veneziano coffee made from an Expobar espresso machine, was creamy, with a lingering choc/nut aftertaste, very pleasant and relaxing. With the coffee we enjoyed a slice of house made carrot cake and a pan forte, a fitting finale. Both cafe and shop are worthy of many return visits.
