Review Angkor Restaurant - Woodville

Zinda Matthews
I had a meeting at Woodville last night (17/5/22) and stopped at this restaurant to order some takeaway for dinner. Ordered the Angkor Curry and rice (Asian Hot). I was pleasantly surprised as it was the best Cambodian curry I have tasted. The food is tasty, delicious and fresh. It's a family restaurant with service and products top notch. The portion size is huge and normally most restaurants are stingy with protein (I.e chicken, beef etc) in their curries, this is not the case with them. It's reasonably priced as well. I am a self confessed foodie and love my food and believe me this is the GOLD standard. It's my favourite restaurant. Highly recommended

Fresh and tasty. Received meal hot, Massaman curry was different that it uses sliced beef and not slow cooked chunks of beef cuts, and garnished with crushed nuts giving it a nice nutty twist.

Really nice restaurant. Food was really delicious, the meals came out pretty quick and the staff are really friendly. Would recommend trying this place out.

Amazing food and amazing service. I’ve been a couple times now and the last visit we tried the banquet. They were so accommodating to changing the banquet menu to suit all of us which most places aren’t willing to do. Will keep coming back.

So happy that this delightful family is settled into the new Woodville Rd digs. We loved this place when it was on Crittenden Rd. The most hospitable and accommodating hosts. I dropped in after work on Saturday and ordered take away for five of us with differing levels of hot, med and mild. Nothing is too much trouble. Was offered a glass of wine while I waited! Food is consistently fresh and delicious. Cooked with pride. Try it! You won't be disappointed. Give the impersonal and now fancy NNQ a miss.

It's interesting to contrast this place to the new NNQ that has opened just a few meters up the road. From its humble origin NNQ is now smooth, cosmopolitan and classy. It has great service, a wonderful heritage listed building and food that has lost its character. When NNQ was a crappy looking, suburban eatery it had the best Vietnamese food in Adelaide. Now that it's been taken over by the new generation it has acquired class and sophistication but lost all of its true greatness - authentic food and taste. Why so much about NNQ? Well, because Angkor is the new NNQ - the NNQ of old. It's just what is should be - the service is less than perfect but it's eager and with a smile, the decor is so dodgy you'd think they paid to have it done that way and the food is so real and authentic that.. well.. it is real and authentic. It's not a classy and a smooth restaurant but whatever it lacks in style, it more than makes up in substance. It's the best of it's kind you can get in suburban Australia without travelling to Asia. Just enjoy it. One tip - bring your own wine. The corkage is only $8 and their own selection is well, let's be generous and call it basic. Over all, we loved the food and we'll be back.

Amazing food, great service. I recommend everyone to go to Angkor. Best Thai food in the Western Suburbs. Glad they reopened but now a different location.

Popped in here with friends for a quick dinner. Was amazing - small family restaurant that's owners are very welcoming. And the food was amazing - cooked with great flavour and authenticity. Certainly worth the visit

Delicious food, Awesome service, Welcoming atmosphere and really well priced. I eat here weekly. Young always goes the extra mile to make sure we leave happy and well fed. Also the best tom yum in Adelaide :)

Very friendly staff, food took a while to come out but worth the wait! Food reasonably priced as well, very pleased we found this wee gem. Will definitely be returning again!

Amazing food and authentic food. Have been going for years, run by an incredibly friendly family too! You’ll be hard pressed to find better Thai in Adelaide.

We visit Angkor quite often and are always pleased with our experience. A family-run business with staff who really care. Our go-to dishes include the basil chicken, mussamum curry and fried rice.

Very Clean flavours at reasonable prices. Small selection of wines (labelled) $20 each.A lot quieter than the place next door as far a ambient noise goes. Very tasty food and friendly service.Good size serves. Will definitely be back.

Angkor Thai is the place you wish you lived nearby so it could be your 'local' Thai eatery. The restaurant is a family run affair with very friendly and attentive service. Sometimes food can take a little while to come out when the place is busy but its worth the wait. Everything I have tried has been delicious with some of the Cambodian dishes (Angkor curry) being standouts. Well worth a visit if you are nearby.

One of our regular and favourite Thai restaurants. The green curry and Angkor curry are irresistible. The owners are super friendly and attentive to guests.

Beautiful food only surpassed by the beautiful people who run it. One of the friendliest and welcoming eateries I've ever been to and I've been to plenty. Do yourself a favour and get down there, you won't regret it.
Ribs 👍

Nice food, nice flavours.
Dishes are quite spicy some people might find medium too hot.
Had takeaway fee times and we enjoyed it both times.

I have traveled to Thailand and Cambodia in the past and really missed the authentic food. But having found this gem I feel like I am back there. There food is the best I have eaten outside of Thailand and the service reminds me of the small family run restaurants all thru this area.
Don't miss out on this hidden gem Great food!!

Very friendly owners who greeted us with warmth and smiles, and chatted with us after the dinner. The food was great. Spiciness meets the standard and really great balance of sour and sweet. Don't pass by without trying.

Woodville's best kept secret. This little restaurant is our new favourite, I have been 3 times and taken different groups of people each time and everyone has loved it. The owners are so lovely and friendly, I would recommend this place to anyone. We have tried the banquet and eaten a la carte and both are fantastic. The Angkor curry is amazing and Young makes the best spring rolls I have ever had. The restaurant is BYO and they have beer and wine available as well. Seriously, forget the famous Vietnamese restaurant down the road, this little gem is sure to impress. Super cheap, always a fun evening, and the best hosts on the planet. Do yourself a favour and book a table tonight before everyone finds out how amazing it is!

Run by a lovely family, they always take care of my family when we come in, even when I get take away and send my boyfriend in to pick up they give us prawn crackers and extra rice! Delicious curries that are super hot and authentic thai - can't tell the difference from theirs and actually eating in Thailand :)
I recommend getting mild if you're not keen on chilli cos even medium is pretty and hot, and get hot if you're a real chilli lover! So delicious

Great service fantastic food - great place for fily dinner before the basketball

So far this is the best Thai restaurant I have been to in Adelaide in this low to medium price range. My favorites are Green Curry, Phnom Penh Curry and Choo Chee dishes. I used to dine in, but couldn't stand the long wait due to so many Takeaway orders. Now I join the Takeaway troop. There is royal card for discounted deals.

Just Fantastic!. I have been to this restaurant many times and had takeaways also. I have not had a bad meal at all. I have been to Thailand 3 times and can honestly say that this place is as close to the real thing as I have tasted anywhere in Adelaide. Get there early and the service is fast and friendly. This place is great value for money with all the meals.
Don't miss out on the Phnom phen currie it is honestly the best flavor this side of Bangkok.
Yet another great meal don't miss out!!!!

This little place is fantastic ! Food was excellent well priced and so fresh - does take a little longer but certainly worth the wait !
Sarah
Amazing service and food don't be fooled by the area! Better than any Thai restaurant in the city!

Nice Food and friendly service, but very slow to get your meal. There was only 2 people, the chef and waitress and they had a lot of take outs to cater for.
If you don't mind waiting a long time, I would recommend the food.
Dana Wojciechowski
Simple decor with slow service (patience needed) however more than happy to wait as the lovely lady who works there is SO NICE! Most importantly the food is very good, very tasty, fresh and very inexpensive. There is a good menu, the banquet is cheap and great value. Have taken many friends there and all agree that its good.

Quality, value and flavour are second to none. Quality cuts of meat and fresh, crisp vegetables. Don't be fooled by this hidden treasure. If it was in a prime location there's no doubt it would be an Adelaide icon!!!
Daniel Jones
Very good food, service is slow. Recommend to ring in order an hour before arriving if you have menu!

I’ve driven past this place many times, and as a fan of Thai food, I thought I would give this place a try. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, with the inside being not much better.
