Reviews I Maccheroni

We held our pre-wedding dinner at I Maccheroni this weekend with 30 people. We first stumbled upon the restaurant on a walk outside of our Bondi bubble to Rose Bay. We had actually already made dinner that night, but when we saw the restaurant, we had to go in and eat. We went back twice after that in person and continue to order on Uber Eats often. We are planning our wedding in Italy and we couldn't think of a better place to hold our celebration dinner. We were thrilled when the restaurant told us we could rent out the entire place for our dinner. Marcello was so accommodating and provided us with pages and pages of options to choose from for our dinner. Nothing was a problem and the chef and his staff worked so hard to make it the most perfect special occasion for us. Chef Marcello even worked with us to create original dishes from the Puglia region where we are getting married. We drank Italian prosecco, wine and beer too. Our friends were absolutely blown away by the restaurant, the food, the ingredients, the service and the entire experience of I Maccheroni. We are still receiving calls, emails and sms messages and everyone is dying to go back again to dine at this restaurant. It is the most authentic Italian food and experience I've had anywhere in my life outside of Italy itself. And revivals some of our favourite restaurants that are actually in Italy. The pasta is homemade, the bread, you literally feel like you are transported to another world when you eat here and our friends felt like they were in Italy for the night. The ingredients are so fresh and the food is truly made with love. My own Italian mother would kill me, but this is some of the best Italian food I’ve had in my life. I would do anything to relive our dinner this week at I Maccheroni and taste all the food again. The service from Marcello’s staff is beyond excellent, they truly look after their customers. We highly recommend I Maccheroni for a simple dinner, a special event, a romantic evening or a take-away night at home. This restaurant will blow you away and is a true gem in Sydney. P.s. we also love the communal style tables, it just adds to the Italian feels!

Selfishly reticent to recommend, but I cannot resist: I Maccheroni is my idea of perfection in a neighbourhood restaurant. Beautiful handmade food featuring the best Italian cooking and produce. And for $3.50 pp you can bring -and consume- the best of your cellar. The food will do it glorious service.

Love this local, authentic Italian restaurant. Chef Marcello is amazing, menu changes depending on fresh market ingredients, sensational home made pasta, warm and friendly atmosphere and great service. Camilla runs front of house and makes you feel like you're in her home. They also have cooking classes once a month - so much fun. Highly recommend!!

Transported to Italy with I Maccheroni's regional dinner menu: Lombarda region, capital city Milan! Be sure to check back regularly as the menu changes every week! Absolutely delicious meal that had me savoring each bite, all artfully made by chef Marcello. Cosy atmosphere set in the little 2 story Woolhara terrace house!
🐟 Kingfish ceviche with radish and tomato
🥓 Burata & prosciutto with caramelised fig - a winning combination of flavours that had me smiling when I bit into the sweet juicy fig balanced with mild creamy burrata and sharp salty prosciutto
🍝 Tortellini spinach with burnt butter and sage - pasta to filling ratio 1:10 with paper thin pasta and generous spinach inside, looks like such a simple dish but requires oh so much skill to make! Hats off to Marcello!
🐂 Beef cheeks alla Mantovana (roasted baby veg with pumpkin sauce) - So succulent and rich and just falling apart! Dish of the night!
🍗 Chicken lollipops with blue cheese dressing
🍮 Ricotta tiramisu topped with macadamia - rich and generous serving of tiramisu but probably the best part was the crunchy macadamia nuts of top. Did you know that ricotta tiramisu has 50% less fat than traditional tiramisu made with marscapone! (Practically guiltfree 😋)

Number three Jersey Road has been restored to its Italian roots, and it seems the good burghers of Paddington and Woollahra couldn’t be more pleased about it.The compact Victorian-era corner building was packed to the rafters on the Tuesday evening I dined. The awkwardly-shaped space is now in the hands of Rose Bay Italian darling, I Maccheroni. This established Italian restaurant team moved over from Rose Bay because their former building was slated to be demolished, making way for – you guessed it – more apartments. Their arrival restores this space’s Italian tradition set down by Buzo, after a series of short-lived deviations as Pinbone and Jersey Road Bistro. What has locals flocking in on a Tuesday night is a regionally focused Fixed Price Menu ($39/3 courses). The chalkboard proclaims tonight is Puglia, the heel of Italy’s famous “boot”, and sets out the three course menu in Italian. Friendly floor staff take the initiative to...

I Maccheroni has relocated from Rose Bay to Woollahra. The new cosy location makes for a great venue for Friday night date night. It's rainy and windy and I'm glad it's warm inside Maccheroni. I Maccheroni is basically booked out on this particular Friday night with walk ins - having to wait for the second seating at 8pm. It must be popular with the locals.

Delicious and finely crafted food, coupled with amazing friendly and attentive service. What a great treasure in the suburbs of the East! A total pleasure and a new local for us. The steak amazing but also the bread, salads, desserts and wine list.

Very good ambience with very good food. This restaurant is not noisy at all. There were 5 of us for lunch. The menu is not overloaded with so many choices which makes it a welcome change. We all had different things from the menu and overall we did enjoy it. It was unfortunate that one of the desserts ordered had not turned out that day, the Macadamia Pannacotta. Parking can be hard to find so best to get there a little earlier than reservation time. Price is mid to high Good place for a meal.

My partner and I booked for our first anniversary dinner. We were greeted with a Happy Anniversary, which was nice. We got good recommendations on wine and even menu choices. Our meals were fantastic! Service was great and the overall experience was well worth it. We will be return customers!

Lovely service, very kind in explaining menu options. I went for a late lunch, so there weren't a lot of people, and i was able to enjoy the restaurant's ambience. Very chill but very classy. Quite a few choices of pasta dishes (they have the seasonal specials) but mostly the usual menu items you'd find in an Italian restaurant in Sydney. But that doesnt mean the dishes aren't good, the ones I had were delicious. It's where you'd go to for a more "traditional" italian restaurant vibe.

Everything about this place makes you want to come back. It's a small little treasure a little outside the CBD. The coffee was amazing, the chef made us his special mix. the wine list was great. The selections of appetizers, mains, pastas and desserts were so delicious that we wanted to try everything. The Zucchini flowers, oysters and ribs were such great starters. It's an explosion of flavors just by itself. oh and the swordfish carpaccio was the bomb, too! Arancini was the best we've tasted here in Sydney. The Pasta- I can't even start. This was crazy good it felt like we were in Italy. The Vongole was my personal favorite. everyone loved the Gnocchi as well. Tortellini was super filling, too! The desserts had a twist since Tiramisu was made with ricotta, but it makes them so unique as well. I don't understand why they don't have hats! such a great place to dine :)

If I could give this place 10 stars out of 5 I would!! The food was to die for, we ordered the mushroom arancini, carne salate, spaghettoni calcio pepe, lamb ragù tagliolini, finishing with the tiramisù and red wine from Puglia. Service was top notch, so friendly and accomodating. The atmosphere was so cozy like being in nonna’s home with the fire place burning. Even where it’s located is v special, off the Main Street so it really seems like you are inside someone’s home - quiet and comfortable! Cannot recommend this place enough!
