Review Spice Market - Woollahra

I used to love this place more than any other Thai!!! Now every dish looks the same , is tasteless and gives Thai food a bad name. Don't bother ordering from spice market anymore. They have lost their touch. Went back again to see if they had lifted their game. Regrettably not!! Had the duck salad and the duck itself and fatty and really chewy. The meat they are using nowadays is simply revolting and well below average.

I've had Thai food hundreds of times but never tasted anything like this! Ordered on Deliveroo and the packaging was also of poor quality...portion small and again the taste...pork belly tasted like it was dipped in green chillies!

Customer experience management system was very bad operations. Male robot at counter malfunctioning and unable to notify the order. Chef also didn't want to function. The negatives was very negative. These company should stopped working. Who is customer here?

Fresh, tasty, good value Thai food in a small restaurant, more in the style of a street food eatery than the usual Thai restaurant in Sydney. Wonderful staff, helpful and attentive. Everything clean. Comprehensive menu with many of the staples; I had the duck curry which was exceptional. Large servings but the staff will package the leftovers to take home. Heats well next day. Go there!

The food is always nice and service always very friendly. Hope they expand. Space is small, but perfect to sit in for a quick lunch or just take away. One of the best lunch specials in the area!

delicious as they always have been for the 20 years I've been eating there.

Completely inept at mending an order. I ordered satay hokkien noodles, with no tofu and with egg. I also ordered on Deliveroo, and had written an order note. I got veges and tofu satay. no noodles, and no egg which i paid 4$ extra for. I called them to amend the order, and they refused refund, told me they don't know what Deliveroo is (despite me placing the order on that platform) and then promised to deliver tomorrow for free. I'm not sure what kind of business practice this is, but if you're going to offer re-delivery, it's probably best to offer it on the night.

It’s not much to look at, but the takeaway Thai at Spice Market is unpretentious and tasty, not greasy. Definitely worth popping in or Deliverooing.

Was told on the phone that “we are not an Indian restaurant” when I asked for roti. Despite being a Thai restaurant I’d wonder if the lady on the other end of the phone had ever been to Thailand. And when I picked up the food, they threw chopsticks in the bag. Hmm... authentic Thai food, eh?

Very much a local haunt of mine, love the service and food, however seating is limited. I generally get the same order, but have tried a number of dishes and even some of the deserts (black rice was good).

Underwhelming. Pad Thai with chicken was very greasy, contained a meagre amount of meat, and didn’t taste appetising. Service was quick though.

Lazy dinner sorted with a first time Thai takeaway from Spice Market. Fish Cake ($3) was a good choice with lots of flavour in these rustic presumably house made entrees. Curry Puff ($2) had nice flakey pastry and decent flavoured filling. Prawn Crackers with Peanut Sauce ($5) were a great one to share with a noticeably spicy flavour to keep the tastebuds entertained and wanting more. They remind me of the prawn crackers I used to get at the KB Hotel many years ago. Chicken Red Curry ($15) was pretty good with quite a creamy style sauce best matched with some Steamed Rice ($2.50).

It's standard takeaway food, so don't expect anything fancy. But it's cheap, filling and tastes good enough. The pad thai had a nice lemony punch to it. They were a little light on the chicken, but overall it was a good dish. The pumpkin and egg stir fry also had a nice Thai flavour. My main issue with this dish was the amount of rice compared to stir fry - I know they're cutting costs, but I ate literally less than half the rice. Overall, it's an okay but not as memorable as others restaurant.

I ordered home delivery from this restaurant and among other things paid for two rice paper rolls (with prawn and chicken). The food was delivered but the shop did not send me the rolls. I called the shop to get them to send them to me. The shop refused to deliver the rolls to me and refused to refund the money. The person on the phone was very rude and implied that I was lying. I will never order from this place again.

Spice Market, Double Bay is the rudest most overrated restaurant I have ever experienced. We ordered a tofu vegie dish and when chicken arrived we called up, there was no sorry, complete rudeness and Anthony the person on the phone actually remarked “Don’t you give me that attitude.” Actually said that. I was completely shocked. This was the rudest most awful experience I have ever had with a delivery service. I cannot even express how rude he was.

This was really upsetting, I have never been treated like this by anyone before.

Not ok.

I ordered home delivery at 19h40. I was informed that the delivery may take 1hour. The food luckily arrived well ahead of 20h40 when I started to get hungry. I ordered green curry chicken and red curry vegetable. The curry tasted mixed flavor of balanced spice, salt and sweetness. Impressive!

The food only took about 5 minutes to come out. When it did it was was hot and well-presented. The portion size was perfect for me and the vegetables were colourful and cooked to the bite- perfect! The chicken was all cooked through and the peanut sauce was crunchy and delicious.

Best thai food in ages. Great staff, friendly and welcoming. The food was delish and tasty. Portions were huge. Great night!

I've been eating here for I think ten years now. Food is consistently good and of good quality. The crispy perch is my favourite! Would recommend as a solid and easy local option but wouldn't drive across town to eat here.

Better than most. Great value for Double Pay ( Bay). Been twice, all meals tasty, will say a bit to much sugar in some dishes. Always busy, friendly staff, BYO and they give cold water straight way, sounds trivial but important to me. Quick from ordering to table.

MSG alert!!!! I had a major allergic reaction to the MSG almost immediately after eating this food. I ordered delivery and My whole body broke out in itchy gives, I turned bright red, my throat and ears closed up and my heat started beating abnormally fast. I phoned the next day asking if they put MSG in their food and the lady admitted sometimes that do but that she'd have to check who was making our food last night to know for sure. This is disgusting! Do yourself a favour, don't be fooled by the flavors, it's not real and has the potential to have harmful results. I now feel the need to ask every Asian delivery whether they use it because I'm allergic. AVOID!!!!

Keep away! This is our favourite place and we do not want people filling this magnificent hidden gem with there presence. Never had a bad meal in 10 years, staff are very polite and helpful and having BYO is a bonus that other 'eateries' should aspire too.

Love spice market!!! Never had to make a complaint in my 4 yrs of going there!

$27 for a yellow chicken curry and rice for one (where they substituted the advertised sweet potato for carrot) and 2 inedible fishcakes. Over an hour for delivery to be charged $5.50 for the service alone. Maybe dine in is better. However, if it was the same i would not have paid for my meal. Ridiculous. Wouldt have written a review if there was an email i could of written to instead however they obviously dont want to recieve/deal with complaints. Never again.

Fabulous. This place rocks. Would have to be one of the best Thai places in Sydney for a quick meal. Have dined here on so many occasions with friends and family from interestate that are always impressed and ask to go back when they visit and we have been regulars there as well. We always order the crispy perch and its divine, the salads and curries are delish too. You can't book, it is one long table and sometimes can be a bit cramped, not the place to linger but sensational quality food that is always consistent. Since moving to Brisbane in March 2011 I really miss this place, there is nothing like it here at all with regards to the quality of the food.

Friendly, busy and good for on the go. If you're looking for high quality, reasonably priced Thai takeaway, then this place is pretty good. Most of the customers are young professionals or people strapped for time, so it's not exactly a place to luxuriate for hours in the European style.

It is cheerful and certainly enlivening but getting a seat on the long bench can be tricky when it's busy, which seems like always. As my dad always told me, never eat in an empty restaurant. They've also been around for over ten years I think, could be longer.

Anyway, definitely worth checking out, and the staff are always friendly.

This is the best thai food in Sydney. I have tried places like spice I am etc but spice market is always the best. The meals to look out for are the chicken cashew bit stir fry, the massaman curry and the red curry. The other great thing about spice market is the great service and the atmosphere. I highly reccomend this restaurant - you won't be let down
