I was lucky enough to attend the first weekend of High Teas yesterday, and it was truly fabulous!! The owner went above and beyond to ensure our experience was memorable for all the right reasons! The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was to die for, and having an opportunity to hear from the chefs was very special. My mum loves her ‘high teas’, and I was so happy that her birthday celebration was so amazing - she even had the French chef sing happy birthday to her!!
I would highly recommend a day out with your family visiting the Chocolaterie as there is plenty to keep everyone entertained!
I was lucky enough to be part of their first High Tea and must say they did it very well. Staff were very engaging our hostess was the owner and to listen to her passion for the business was great. A pastry chef who is French came to tell us what he has prepared along with a chocolate maker from Belgium who both work there. Table set beautifully fresh flowers, pretty crockery, place tags with our names. Food was delicious plenty of it endless drinks of your choice tea, coffee and of course hot chocolate! Price very reasonable and if they keep it reasonable and produce same level of service I can see this being very successful. I will be back to enjoy this experience again. Thanks Yarra Valley Chocolaterie Michele.
Really nice place with friendly and efficient staff. Food was okay in the cafe - chocolate delicious. Beautiful scenery and walks.
Thanks guys for an amazing visit and Chocolate tasting will be back - yum yum
This place is amazing the food is supurb cant wait to go back for my daughters birthday in october
Great atmosphere, the best chocolate and the ice cream is yum too
We visited just before lockdown (thank goodness as I can only assume the sample bowls which are the absolute highlight are now very much a thing of the past) and discovered they have gotten rid of the perfectly tart lemon tart! DEVASTATING. There’s still plenty to appreciate however, the grounds are stunning and you can buy your ice cream and wander around the gardens or sit on the lawn and enjoy the picturesque countryside #bringbackthetart

The serving sizes are ginormous, I always over order and out come gigantic indulgent sundaes, the decadent brownie which is my absolute favourite brownie I've had in life thus far and scones (possibly the biggest scone I've ever seen, don't order scones for two unless you are starving)
Further update
Another interstate visitor in tow we hit up the chocolaterie for some sweet treats. I’ve never ordered a dessert I wasn’t thoroughly impressed with so it was the lemon tart with a shot of warm chocolate eaten sitting out on the verandah soaking up the atmosphere whilst savouring every bite of the sugary dessert temptations.
Update
We had an interstate visitor so took her for her first taste of the joy that is the chocolaterie. First up I’ll say I don't recommend going anywhere near Christmas time unless you want sticky fingered children running around you.
That aside, one of my favourite things to do on a Sunday is take a trip out to the Yarra Valley for lunch and finish on a sweet note at the chocolaterie. It's a delightful experience from the moment you walk in with samples of delicious chocolate buttons in large bowls (what a line).
Original review
Its always packed with people and rightly so, particularly when they have their famous hot chocolate festival or ice cream festival running. There's so many fantastic premium things for sale in the showroom it's my first port of call for all my gifting needs and if you are lucky you can peer into the open kitchen and see the chocolatiers at work. You can also book in for classes at times.
You will always leave with your stomach heaving regretting your greedy need to sample so much but looking back on it salivating the next day. Definitely recommend going to the Easter egg hunt if you have kids I happened to be there last year on Easter weekend and they children were absolutely thrilled. No adult participation allowed sadly
Have been here multiple times and it's always a fun day-trip from Melbourne.
It's always crowded and the staff should be applauded on their ability to handle so many tables and customers. I do find the service a little abrupt and pushy at times but overall it's friendly enough.
The food is a little on the pricey side (especially basic drinks like Coke Zero or water) for what you get but the desserts are excellent value. The free chocolate chips as you enter always go down a treat with the kids.
😱Lizzie’s first impression: Great area for a day trip, good hot chocolates and delicious chocolates (of course).
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: I love that they have the free samples on arrival – what an entrance. I love that you can see the machines and the history that goes behind how they make the chocolates from the machines. They have a great selection of chocolates and in particular the hot chocolate is actually delicious.
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: I am yet to visit when they do their hot chocolate festival where they mix chocolate with other flavours.
🥇Lizzie rates overall: great area to sit and explore outside too. Very easy to get to and worth the trip!
I got the dessert pizza on the menu and it had a unique taste with a strawberry cake, amazing ice cream and candy and some beautiful fairy floss. I feel like the presentation could have been improved and there could have been less cream cheese and more chocolate though.
A must when i'm in Yarra Glen! If you love chocolate, you would love it here
They have really good ice creams and the cafe offers quite a good range of savoury and sweet ranges.
The has a nice view which overlooks the winery and there is a nice garden if you would like to sit outside.
We had the hot chocolate and gelato and really enjoyed it.
Dont forget to have their gelato as well. They have quite a good range of flavours
I was hoping that visiting on a Friday afternoon would be less busy than some of my previous dining experiences here on the weekend but I guess other concert goers for the day on the green had similar ideas in mind. We were here just after the lunchtime rush and managed to secure the better of the indoor tables (it was far to hot outside). We order drinks today with scones having lunchtime plans elsewhere but had already sampled many many chocolate buttons from the white, milk & dark chocolate bins and purchased bars in Store. I loved the way the hot chocolate was presented and the pouring and stirring interaction they was required. Coffee was also ok but not super strong. I have previously had scones here and these were sizeable and tasty.
Service is friendly but frantic and it was a fairly long wait time for just a few hot chocs and coffees etc. The staff were well and truely slammed by the lunch rush as well. From where we sat we could see the frantic workings of staff... someone must be making money out of this tourist success story. 👏
Every chocolate lovers dream! From the assortment of chocolate buttons greeting you at the entrance to every single chocolate flavour you can think of – truffles, slabs, nougat, gift packs, hot chocolate packs, ice creams, giant bars… everything and anything chocolate related that you can imagine is right in this very place. YUM!
YARRA VALLEY CHOCOLATERIE | Your Choice | Located an hour away from Melbourne CBD,
Yarra valley chocolaterie is a family friendly environment where you can enjoy a range of different foods including breakfast, lunch, dessert and of course chocolate! 🍫
I visited during their annual Hot Chocolate Festival (in August everyday) where you could try different and unique hot chocolate creations throughout the whole month.
I tried holy churros which was made from cookies and cream,
pineapple juice which was served in a glass shaped pineapple #socute
macaroons very yummy😋
🍟 French fries very crunchy very tasty
Strawberry milkshake totally according to my taste not too sweet just fine 🥰
If you’re a chocolate lover I would definitely recommend to visit 😍😍😍🍫
Wonderful, helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. Fantastic views. The food was delicious and plentiful! Their high tea is also divine. Thank you all!
Like this place. Delicious ice cream . Chocolate is OK. And there are free chocolate chips to taste. Cake s and hot beverage allow you have time to enjoy time. Beautiful surroundings. Worth going!
Very large estate with big lawns and some seating areas near the outside ice creamery. On a Saturday afternoon this place was full of people but we had no problem getting a seat inside the shop though the car park was chockers.
The first thing to do on entering is to taste the three free types of chocolate buttons near the entrance. White milk and dark chocolate buttons are on offer. Take a look into the little factory through the glass windows to see the oompa loompas hard at work. Then grab a table and order up at the counter.
We three decided on scones jam and cream. I got a hot chocolate which comes with a side shot of molten chocolate to put in. Mmmmm very chocolaty. Try it for sure. My friend got a milk shake that he rated as fair. The scones though were brilliant and were light fluffy and huge. There was an abundance of jam and cream to slather all over them so much that there were left overs. A real bargain at $9 for two scones plenty for two people. After our scones we strolled around the shop which had many options for some take home product. The shop had a very touristy feel with chocolate shaped koalas etc but we enjoyed our stop over.
My family & I visit Yarra Valley Chocolaterie a few times a year & we love it!
With breathtaking countryside views, it is the most delightful setting!
The staff here are always incredibly friendly & the menu on offer is beyond delicious!
I can't help but make a pig of myself everytime I visit because the desserts are just so incredible!
It's easy to understand why this place is always packed with people as it is enjoyable for all ages!
My kids have fun playing ball on the lawn, and we all love to explore & take a stroll to visit the animals in the back paddock before we leave!
This place honestly ticks all the right boxes for me & I am already looking forward to our next visit!
The best ice cream in the town. Lots of favors to choose from. But the rocky-road favor is the best. 😊
Ice cream amazing. View even better.
Stop over for chocolate and lunch. Been here a few times. each time we come we will buy some choc back. We had pizza for
lunch and real dark hot choc, love the hot choc ❤️
Nice place to visit if you’re in this area, they have a huge selection of chocolate if you’re a chocolate lover! Their ice cream portion is super generous, and the flavour and consistency is great.
I absolutely love the ice cream here and highly recommend it if you are in the area. The honeycomb ice cream is to die for. It is super creamy and has a custard base so it’s heaven for custard lovers. There’s heaps of space to explore and farm animals to look at.
Wonderful place to bring the kids. Loved it.. The chocolate factory was interesting to watch, and the food reasonably priced. Fed 3 hungry adults and 2 peckish kids for under $60.
My latest visit was during the brownie festival so there were a bunch of decadent brownies on offer, and some of those flavours were available as ice cream too. Speaking of ice cream, I personally think the ice cream here trumps the chocolate. Thick, creamy and the flavours are lovely. A bit on the sweeter side, but luscious none the less.
I bought a 4 pack brownie to go, and was amazed by how spot on the flavours were. The carrot cake and wagon wheel brownies tasted just like their namesake, and the autumn spice brownie was bursting with warm flavours. All very moreish!
Even on a weekday, this place is packed. A bit more room to breathe than on a weekend, but still absolutely bustling. Regardless, it's a great place to bring visitors to, or for when you want to indulge in both ice cream and chocolate in a picturesque setting.
Cannot get enough of this place!!!!
I visit the Chocolaterie probably 3 to 4 times a year.
I love this place for so many reasons... the scenery, the ice cream, the chocolate and the warm fussy feeling in your tummy.
Would give Yarra Valley Chocolaterie 10 stars if possible!
A bustling and vibrant cafe and chocolate shop surrounded by picturesque views over the Yarra Valley. The venue is always busy, but it’s always worth the effort and wait for amazing food. The staff are busy and friendly.
The pizza here is the best I've ever had anywhere. Those mushroom are to die for. You can really see the quality in the food. The only reason I didn't rate a 5 because I went there twice in one week and I ordered a pizza which came out looking different to the second time I had ordered it. Only difference was the first time it came out with rocket on top and the second time it didn't. I explained this to the young man who brought it out and he went to speak with I guess a senior team member. She came upto me rudely... butting in and telling me maybe last time I ordered a different pizza. No I was here 2 days ago either rocket doesn't come on it or they accidently put it on the first time. I just wanted some rocket on my pizza that's how it came out the first time I ordered it. Either way I would have been happy to pay extra for the rocket, it was more about the way she spoke to me and looked at me. Wasn't happy.
This is a very nice and wonderful landmark of Melbourne. I really enjoyed the times at the local factory with fantastic and peaceful countryside view. This is such a friendly environment with and efficient friendly. I joined a session to make my own chocolate. I added as many type of flavors as possible and found it tastes good! After that I order a mocha with a chocolate macaroon and they were all good! This mocha is one of the best mocha I have ever tasted. I also tastes few types of their popular chocolates, up to 15 favours. I really like the mango and passionfruit one. Highly recommend this place!
I have been here at least 10x for the Dark Chocolate Sorbet.
Lovely views and wide open spaces while indulging in their chocolates.
This place is definitely chocolate heaven.
Ice cream is just delicious, plenty flavours to choose from. Chocolate products also available, we tried the brownie and loved it. A lot of products to buy as a gift or to take home.
How can you ever get sick of this place? Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and ice creamery will not disappoint with their changing ice cream flavours and various cholocates! We had the Tequila sunrise (with a hint of alcohol) and the very interesting Japanese inspired Anmitsu 😄
This is an awesome place for all chocolate lovers. Where do I even start?! We actually went here on a super chilly day, which was no problem as we had gallons of hot chocolate to gulp down hahahah. In my photo you will see hot chocolate served in a cup made of cookie. So delicious! Their serving of brownie is also quite big and comes with chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I even tried a veggie sandwich to cut through all the sweetness and I was not disappointed. I even purchased a box of assorted chocolates to take home. By the way, there are also two huge bowls of white chocolate and dark chocolate samples.
Had a try on their pana cotta and chicken sandwich
Both taste amazing
Chicken sandwich is soft and taste oh so amazing
Pana cotta is not very sweet and love the presentation
Very creamy and smooth
Kids love the milk chocolate and their presentation. They have option of milk, white and dark chocolate
Love this place
If they could have a playground that would be even better ~
I love this place! Chocolate everywhere you turn - I literally wanted to try everything. The chocolate here is great quality- smooth and perfectly balanced. Try the freeze-dried strawberries covered in chocolate - they are amazing.
If you're looking for a place to satisfy your sweet tooth, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie does not disappoint! Their chocolate is always delicious, as were their dessert and drink options. Their iced coffee is to die for!
For ice cream options, try mixing their peach mango with the wildberry froyo - tastes like a decadent fruit smoothie 😌
The only con would be that this place is very crowded, especially with tourists and many children. Reclusive people beware!
Past by the Yarra Valley chocolaterie, this iconic attraction has a lot of options for chocolates and sweets, we grabbed a mix berries sorbet on the way out from the ice creamery, the texture of the sorbet was pasty however the taste of berries were very strong..
We got the sundae and cheese pizza and both were amazing. Considering how busy they are, service was pretty quick! Sit outside if u can to get the full experience
A must visit when you are in the Yarra Valley.
I also stop off here after a long lunch, and some wine tastings to get an ice cream on the way home. The ice cream here is so creamy and tasty - and the servings are very VERY generous. I had the seasonal gingerbread cookie flavour this time, but I usually go for a chocolate - because it's a chocolaterie.
The chocolate here is very good as well. They have some really interesting flavours that you wouldn't see at your local supermarket - they make really good presents for people overseas. I got fig and fennel seed, passion fruit and mango, and caramelised white. The chocolate is made on site - you can see the factory through the glass window.
Oh yeah, there's free samples! Easily a 5 star.
A worthwhile place to visit.
A great set up with a huge variety of chocolate on offer.
You can even see the chocolate being made.
Nice coffee and ice cream also available.
We live locally and this is one of our ‘go to’ places for morning tea or a sneaky daytime date when the kids are at school. Definitely recommend the hot chocolates. I’m a fan of the Chocamochalatte. The pizzas are a good lunch option, our favourite is the BBQ chicken. Gluten-free bases are available. Best to avoid this place on the weekend if you don’t like crowds and queues. We recommend sitting outside so the kids can run off and play on the lawn in the orchard. On our last visit we were disappointed to see that there is now only 1 gluten-free cake option - raspberry pannacotta (delicious).
Lovely place to come and chill and relax and watch the scenery and rolling hills. The gelato is yummy and I love the variety of flavours. The variety of chocolate is amazing. Staff are always friendly and there’s something for everyone here. I’m not a fan of the crowd though because it’s really hard to get a seat in the cafe!
Omg the nutella brownies are so yummy! Not super sweet or dense but very moist and tasty. The top part is the nutella flavouring, not really the oozy sauce. There is a crispy crunchy bit with hazelnuts which was nice.
This place never fails to amaze me. It’s like heaven. I’ve been here many times & it’s always delicious. Yesterday when we went we were served by a lovely lady her name was Abbey & she was great at her job. Very bubbly & always smiling & helpful. I got the bbq chicken pizza, my sister got the granola & my mum got scones. Everything was delicious & we were so full. The prices were also reasonable. The other times I’ve been here I’ve gotten the chocolate fondue for 2 which is amazing! I really wanted to get it yesterday but was too full. Plus the icecream is really refreshing & they have a huge variety of flavours.
A chocolate heaven to eye all the different flavours and types on offer. But all good things attracts an audience as it was super packed. We enjoyed looking at the chocolates getting made through the window while nibbling on the free pastilles. The ice cream was delicious, rich, and creamy; perfect to enjoy on the warm day while basking in the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
Very crowed, huge queues, not enough parking so we parked on the lawn. But ppl were very polite. We brought a couple things that weren't just chocolate and some iced chocolate to take away. For the size and prices it was really good, just wish it was more chocolate and the lady who served us looked a little surprised that we wanted take away. But others good next we will try the Ice cream because the ice cream in our Iced chocolates was fantastic
I’m sure they could impress everyone - it is the chocolaterie version of ice cream truck. Everyone’s happy! We went there during the Hot Chocolate festival in August and tried two of them - Oompa Loompa (orange flavored, good to look at but I would’nt order it again), Red red wine (mulled wine flavors, loved the cinnamon sprinkled on top). We also had strawberry ganache which was delicious 😋. Obv.coming back😎
I love this place! We came in the month of August (they have special menu and chocolate month), the scenery is beautiful and both the drinks and dessert we ordered was yum... (I do find it a bit too sweet, I would love it if the sweetness is toned down slightly), as I couldn’t finish all with too much sugar hit.. otherwise it’s perfect.
This is the ultimate chocolate heaven!!! I went there today and I had the dark chocolate gelato with white chocolate syrup and it was heaven in my mouth! I love how this place is also very generous with their free taste of irresistible chocolate buttons. I had brunch there as well as I ate the smashed avo toast, and it was delicious! I highly recommend this place, it’s amazing!
Melbourne Food Journey

Whenever we are in the Yarra Valley we always stop by the Chocolaterie! There are so many delicious sweet and savoury options and the staff are always so lovely, welcoming and attentive. This time around I had to go for a brownie, which comes with a chocolate shot and ice cream. We also got a take-away brownie and the staff also boxed the chocolate shot and provided us with an extra ice-cream to share in lieu of being unable to take it away- just going the extra mile! Worth checking out the shop and bringing some goodies home with you as well.
Chocolate and views. What else does a designated driver need when touring the gorgeous Yarra Valley? Yarra Valley Chocolaterie (35 Old Healesville Road, Yarra Glen) is a chocolate institution and a highly popular spot for visitors in the Yarra Valley region. After you find a park, practice forming a cup with your hands in preparation for the free
This is a place that every chocolate lover should visit!
Surrounded by beautiful scenery, the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie checked a lot of boxes. They have a wide variety of gelato flavours, and what seems like all different types of chocolate. There are so many flavours to satisfy everyones sweettooth. The rocky road was to die for, and we happily demolished one of their 1 metre blocks.
Seeing the chocolate being made is a whole other experience, and there is a pretty wide assortment of chocolate gifts available too.
Important to keep in mind that it can get pretty costly, so if you are a fan of chocolate, bring a full wallet. :D
Wow this place is amazing and has it all for all age types. I love the back drop here when your eating you get a clear view of Yarra Valley. I had the scones with Jam I thought I would need to order more but it was massive portion servings. You have to come here early as it's really hard to grab a table and when you order your food you have to wait in the que for a while. But it's cool how they give out free chocolate.
It’s almost been 2 years since my visit to Australia, but my visit to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery remains to be one of the most enjoyable parts of the trip - it fulfilled one of my lifelong dreams to visit a chocolate factory.
Imagine a relaxing area filled with rolling hills and lush greenery, and right smack in the middle of all that is P-A-R-A-D-I-S-E for both kids and adults alike.
Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery’s chocolate store was of course the highlight, with shelves filled with different varieties and flavours/styles of chocolate goodness. They had small bite-sized chocs, bars, candy-like ones, and even huge feet-long bars - which I was sordidly tempted to buy (until I remembered that the chocolate wouldn’t probably make the 8-hour flight back home). They also had a viewing area where you could see machines churning out chocs in a variety of shapes and sizes!
The staff were extremely nice and patient, considering all the hullabaloo of both adults and kids walking around. It was a weekend when we visited so there were a lot of other people around.
The in-house café also served a variety of chocolate snacks and drinks. Aside from the possibly lacking table space (too many people, not enough tables), it was nice to take a break from the shopping and the tasting and get a cool shake/coffee.
Definitely a must-visit place if ever you’re in the area.
FREE CHOCOLATE! Very busy during peak hours. Lots of different chocolate products to choose from, ranging from cheap to way too expensive. Recommended.
Not only does this Chocolaterie give out FREEE chocolate, but it makes some pretty mean deserts too.
First, the Espresso. Quite standard, but shots are pulled on the bitter side. There's a lot of sugar though so if you're going for an iced coffee or such it'll be perfect.
But the cakes.. So. Good.
Had the brownie and the caramel macademia. It's a sore hit to the wallet but.. Very tasty - you'll be harshly tempted to forget you're counting calories.
I suppose it's made it's money back from the freebies.
Well earned.
Amazing! I didn’t actually eat at the cafe here but I did do a rocky road making class! It was so much fun!! Heaps of people here on the weekends so prepare yourself for it to be busy!
The young lady who ran our class (I think her name was Rachael) was fantastic. Informative, fun, funny and loveable! Thank you for such a fun and delicious time!
My family went here a while ago, it is AMAZING, I was about 12 when I went there. I remember me getting full of chocolate and running around everywhere in the big open grassy fields. I got tired out and fell asleep XD. this was the best experience of my life because those memories. I rated it a 4.0 cuz dad wont let me rate it any higher -_- (thx a lot dad) I would of rated a 5 :). all the staff are lovely and watching people make the chocolate was breath taking :P the free chocolate things were scrumptious and the ice cream taste like heaven :) I thank whoever came up with the idea of the chocolate factory.
God bless you all :)
Many flavours of ice-cream to choose from. Yummy! #besticecreaminvictoria
There are many choices for chocolates too, even for dark chocolate which I was spoilt for choices. I tried e sample & find it smooth
One of the #mustgoinvictoria & #iwillbback
Place - crowded
Breakfast - veg pizza good
Eggs and bacon good
Chocolaterie breakfast good
Very good quantity 👍
Hot chocolate - Yummy
Overall - good
Came here on a public holiday and the place was packed. Firstly amazing scenery. Chocolates melts in mouth and isn't too overwhelming. The icecream is by far worth the cost. Large scoops and there are a variety of flavours to choose from. There is a place to also buy chocolates and its quite packed.
We had a great Sunday lunch here! It was really busy yet our food and drinks came out super quickly. This place had the right amount of staff who were super friendly and efficient. I recommend the brownie, delicious and excellent value for money :) we’ll be back!
Very good, with lots of nice fancy desserts. We had the chocolate brownie and the jaffa mousse dome. Every dessert comes with a shot of chocolate in a small cup and the chocolate is very nice. We enjoyed our desserts, they tasted great. Service was good too. My 'extra hot' hot chocolate was still not hot enough for me, but it was good that they serve it in an insulated glass, so that you don't burn your fingers trying to drink it.
Good place to take the kids. Very busy during Easter. They serve free chocolate tasting (milk, white and black). Nice ambience outside on a sunny day. Pizzas were awesome, and whilst very busy during Easter service is top notch. Must drop by when going to wineries.
Who doesn’t love a land full of chocolate? I definitely had some of the best chocolates here. Not sure if this chocolate is still going to be available as it was in the special edition counter-it’s called “Rocky Road” it’s made out of chocolate, nuts and marshmallows 😍 Highly recommend to eat the ice cream. All in all it’s a nice place but it’s a little on the expensive side.
Paradise for Chocolate Lovers, they have everything that you had ever imagined that is edible and remotely chocolate.
We shopped until we dropped.
A trip to Yarra Valley isnt complete without visiting this beautifuly located (very scenic) place.
Been here a few times and I love the chocolate and ice-cream here. The ice-cream is very good price and portion are generous too. This place is big so very good for those that loves chocolate and desserts like ice-creams and cakes too.
Always busy and customer services is good. 😀
Im pretty sure Yarra Valley Chocalaterie & Ice Creamery have now ruined my chances of finding decent scones anywhere else. The scones are so big they look they they are on steroids!! Along with a generous(not exaggerating) serving of the beautiful cream and jam I was in heaven!!! The icecream in the iced coffee was wonderful and made it that much more creamy. I cant wait to return!!
Pizza , coffee and ice cream were really great. The cheesecake were way to sweet for me. I had a small piece of rock chocolate from a tasty lady. Somehow, she seems not really like me. Apparently, she seems more passionate give her smile and explain to other customers. I may just a bit fussy. Anyway, overall, the food , coffee , desserts were good. and waitress were really polite and friendly.
Ice cream is beaut as are the desserts they have on offer. And you can never have too much chocolate! So a oerfrct place to satisfy that chocolate craving!!!
Extra 0.5 point for the beautiful view, this is a tourist hotspot. Make sure you come in early in the morning or later after 3pm in the evening, if you want a relaxing and less squashy environment. Its the school holidays season and this place is perfect for everyone young and old. I am sure your kids will have an unforgettable day here. Bring along a picnic mat and snacks if you want to stay after the breakfast. (Worth to spend some time here) Chilex a bit. They do have some nice bread with fillings at a cheaper price around $8 to $15 for grap and go during this busy season, so you dont need to bring much. However most of the meals are slightly more expensive. Make sure you try their hot chocolate..it come with extra shot of yummy chocolate sauce. ..(forget to take the pic). Will I come back...expensive but I will definately be back..my kids' smiles are worth it. They give me thumbs up for this beautiful location.
Want to have lunch with a view? Then there’s no better place to sit on any porch in the Yarra valley with a tasty meal. Initially we planned on lunching at De Bortoli, but as a big tourist group was expected we weren’t able to find a table. The chocolate factory is a great alternative with simple and well-priced meals for a any taste.
The food: we ordered the prawn pasta and the salmon bagel. The bagel was divine due to the large amount of smoked salmon packed within. However, the prawn pasta wasn’t nearly as good with frozen prawns (why when you can get good quality and cheap prawns anywhere) and a sauce that tasted like it was straight from a can.
Service: friendly and helpful - the level of patience and respectfulness here is unparalleled for the Yarra valley.
Pricing: good - we paid $30 for both meals. Considering it is a tourist destination and always busy the pricing is surprisingly good.
Overall, this ain’t a place you will be raving about and you probably wouldn’t crave to return but it is a good enough alternative if the beautiful wineries in the area are busy with large tour groups.
Love this place! Amazing ice cream, chocolates and food as well as gorgeous scenery! Very good location and heaps of nature. Would highly recommend this place for any event and very family friendly!
Even though the ice cream melts rather quick and the plave is packed out it is still worth the drive to the lovely yarra valley for an authentic scrum ice cream. The yarra valley needed a sweet destination and this place fits the gap perfectly!
I can't praise this place enough. Surrounded by acres of vineyards, greenery and cattle- the view from this chocolaterie is fantabulous. The chocolates are oh so delicious. You can see them make the chocolates. I bought lots of chocolates to take home. There's a host of flavours to choose from and combinations of various flavours as gift packs are available too. The 1m long chicolate bar is quite intriguing - buy it if you have a meticulous plan to fit it in your luggage. I did and didn't regret it. It was yummy! I also tried their waffles. Perfect texture soft and crispy! Loved the experience and the service too.
We often come here on school holidays and kids love the ice cream and chocolate. This place is always packed and always has a massive line of people trying to get an order. Once you order you can sit back and watch the kids running around the play area. Very kid friendly place to go.
A great place to visit if you're in the Yarra Valley! It's a refreshing change if you are not a huge wine drinker and you are a chocolate lover. The place can get very busy therefore be prepared for crowds. They have a huge range of chocolates and their chocolates are quite good although not at the Koko Black level they do charge quite a bit. The venue has something for everyone from Ice Cream to Deserts and Chocolate. They also have a viewing bay into the kitchen so you can see the chefs in action.
If you are a chocolate lover, this is worth a visit if you're in the area. The hot chocolate is delicious and their chocolate selection is impressive. They do chocolate making classes for kids and the entire place was a delight to wander around and explore. They also have free tastings of their chocolate which is always a bonus!
The chocolaterie is big and comfortable. It provides variety of chocolates, candies, cookie and ice creams. I think this one is much better than Philip island's. The chocolates are so creamy and nice. I tried the rocky road, it contains sticky candy, almond, chocolates. I love it.
Amazing hot chocolate and desserts are pretty good too. They have a small savoury selection but they're not that good so have lunch elsewhere. They often have chocolate-related festivals that are always worth attending. I was there last for the hot chocolate festival and they had this hot chocolate served in a (fully edible, of course) cookie cup and which was pretty epic ;)
So perfect place for couples, group of friends or family to enjoy. Must try hot chocolate (I tried dark one). They have a variety of chocolate products to sell. You can have perfect brunch at this place.
Great place to visit if you're in the Yarra Valley. A chocolate over's dream it is full of every sweet treat your heart could desire. They also have a cafe on-site and an icecremery which serves up delicious Icecream (my favourite is the hazelnut, to die for!). They also have a viewing bay into the kitchen so you can see the chefs in action. Pretty cool really. Check out their festival program too although be weary it gets quite busy during these times.
Had the fungi 3 cheese pizza and the chocolate brownie. Both were really tasty. Brownie was really moist and fudgy, could have used a bit more sauce in my opinion though. The sugarfree chocolate from here is great too
Went down here for a bit of a day trip and it wasn't great but wasn't bad either. It's a good change from Melbourne to get away and have breakfast with a nice view. Understandable that the prices are a little high considering where they're located but it's a nice place to take family!
If someone asked me what cafe would you recommend in Victoria, this would be it! Especially when you get free chocolate upon arrival.
Great service, location, gifts to buy people and of course the food is to die for at a reasonable price.
Iv been many times to have their drinks and ice cream but this time round, i tried one of their special hot chocolate festival drinks. It was a lavender white hot chocolate which arrived on a tray with a side spatula, pink marshmallow, white flower flavored lavender and a shot of chocolate sauce. The drink priced at $7.50 was so frothy and at the bottom was chocolate so make sure you actually use the spatula!
I always ordered their famous vanilla bean scons for $6 because they are the best scons I've had. Golden on the outside and fluffy on the inside, it comes with a side of their housemade strawberry jam and cream.
I also took home their massive slice of a chocolate brownie which came with a side of their vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. It tastes like a hedgehog, very rich in taste. Worth $8.
Definitely make a visit to see the landscape as well👌
Fun place to visit as a change from the wineries in Yarra Valley. Yes the free small chips of chocolate are a great welcome. Tastings looked interesting so book ahead if you want to do it. We settled on piece of rocky road (was huge!) - came with ice cream and melted chocolate (yum). Overall it was okay just not amazing. Service is friendly but surprisingly slow. Would return with traveling visitors for the views and experience.
Great atmosphere. Been here several times. Loved tasting the sample white, milk and dark chocolates. Bought the ginger covered chocs and also the macadamia chocs balls. All tasted good. Came here on Saturday so expected lots of people.
A nice stop in the Yarra Valley to keep the kids happy. Nice chocolates, decent food and ice cream. Always packed during the weekends and can be hard to find a table. Comes across as just a bit too 'commercial'.
A must see place when around the Yarra Valley. Always busy so best to come on a rainy day or early. Parking is available and even if busy you will find a spot within 10 minutes as the turnaround is high. This place makes it's own chocolate and it's a real treat to watch the small manufacture production line. You can also sign up for some classes for a fee. They sell chocolate in all shapes and sizes including chocolate beauty products. They have great icecream on offer as well as a eatery with hot chocolate in all colors, cakes, sandwiches and pizza. The dining section is always full inside and you might be lucky finding a table on the veranda which gets very cold and windy outside the warm season. Your hot chocolate dressing for your dessert meal will solidify quickly and the candle warmer will blow out with the tiniest gust of wind so best to wait and grab a seat inside. The sweet stuff is very good but the pizzas and sandwiches are not bad either but focus on your sweet tooth while visiting ;)
A very busy place any nice day or during the school holidays. Parking can be at a premium and getting a table difficult. The chocolate is pricy ($45 / kg) and so is the food. The staff is always friendly. This place is popular because it's chocolate, the view of the Yarra Valley spectacular, and the wineries nearby.
Set amongst the beautiful rolling hills of the Yarra Valley this is a geat place to stop off and end enjoy the scenery and endulge in a massive sugar hit!!! Spent a lovely winters afternoon with friends hanging out at the cafe which was packed to the rafters with like minded people. With a fairly large menu to keep everyone happy, the ques to order may have been long but table service was quick. Coffee was good and the sweet treats even better! I dont have a massive sweet tooth so my favourite were the Vanilla bean scones with home made jam and clotted cream! We also ordered the the Honeycomb sundae which was huge and was enough for our group of 4 adults and 2 kids to all enjoy. Seating both inside and outside sheltered, comfortable and heated. There's plenty of room to walk/run off the sugar high before heading out via the chocolate shop to grab a few goodies to take back home. Parking was adequate even though it was a very day and easy enough to manoeuvre through.
This place is insanely popular - we arrived about half an hour before close and it was still packed! You could wander for ages down the aisles looking at all the chocolate creations. We had takeaway hot chocolates and they initially mixed up our orders but I didn't mind as the hot chocolate was so creamy and tasty!
Great place to visit and fantastic food! The atmosphere is brilliant. Would definitely recommend to all my friends and family. Great chocolate too!
full on, even on a weekday the place is rammed and rather uncomfortable when you're taking a friend and kids, needs to be a bit less choc and more space for dining. Chocolate is fantastic, we had fondue, waffles and hot choc..all were exceptional, as was the service.
My hubby and I came here with my inlaws for brekky this morning, its a local brekky spot for them, so nice and close. We were welcomed warmly by the staff, and offered the free chocolate samples which we took advantage of! I ordered the real milk hot chocolate, which was SO delicious! A big serving of hot milk with small milk chocolate buttons on the bottom, a small shot style cup of melted chocolate for extra decadence, and also comes with a small whisk to make sure it was mixed well, very good idea. I opted for the scone with jam and cream, thinking it would be a nice small breakfast option... it was HUGE! When it came to the table I at first thought it was a bread roll =P it was fluffy, moist, with a lovely crunchy outside, yum! Served with a nice berry jam and thick double cream. Very filling!
The service was lovely, and the extensive range of chocolate products is amazing. Would recommend!
Nice place to stop by and have an ice cream and/or hot cuppa. Also has a nice scenery for photos :) chocolate goodies are great too. Pity it has a no dogs sign even on the outdoor area. Would have been perfect otherwise.
I really enjoyed my visit here. When you enter you are welcomed with free chocolate samples. In one section you can see how the chocolates are prepared by machines, the main section is basically a chocolate shop ranging from slabs, to samples, to Easter eggs. The further section is a Cafe, there are not many options available, food is average- nothing fancy. There is plenty of room for kids to run around and adults to admire the view of the mountains. It's a good day trip if you are keen on trying chocolate. NOTE: avoid on weekends, large busses of tourists come and it's not plesent if there are so many people around
we really enjoyed our experience here. food was very nice (a bit on the pricey side) but nice all the same. very busy place no matter what time you go. browsing at all the chocolate products for sale takes some time and deciding what to actually buy takes longer lol
We're been here many times having breakfast, but yesterday we came late and we had the lunch menu and it wasn't good at all. I think they should remove the baguettes on the lunch menu and do the all day breakfast menu instead .
A chocolaterie set in amongst the tranquil scenery of the Yarra valley. A beautiful road trip down past Healesville will bring you to this hidden, but far from secret, gem of a chocolate haven.
The famous is beautifully soft and chewy, and everything on the menu comes with a generous helping of warm chocolate sauce!
It does get super busy on weekends, so heads up seating may be scarce. The plus side is there are bowls of free delicious chocolate chips made on site, so you can fill up a little whilst you wait :)
Came here for lunch on the weekend wth friends. The food was excellent however be prepared for it to be super busy. The desserts are lovely and the BLT baguette was huge. Would recommend this place.
The Marketing in his place is absolutely first rate. The entire way they run the show is thoroughly professional and also fun for families and tour groups alike. They showcase their chocolate and ice cream extremely well in the Cafe and while the prices are a little on the high side, you are paying for the enjoy of being there.
We had the beef baguette and the classic waffles. The beef baguette was very large and fresh but for the money, could have had more filling. Nevertheless, it was very good. The waffles were crispy and delicious with really fresh fruit, awesome Icecream and chocolate sauce. Iced coffee's had generous Icecream but the coffee could have been stronger.
Then we spent $100 bucks in the shop buying gifts! All over this place is a lot of fun and well worth the trip out of the city for a great afternoon out. Bring your sweet tooth with you!
We had the Fungi three cheese pizza with Panchetta $20, which was great for any cheese and mushroom lover, and a Pulled pork pizza $18, which was fantastic! However, the food took about 20mins to arrive. We had 2 scoops of ice cream - Mint and Salted caramel which were alright; glad that they weren't very sweet. However, the chocolate flavour was rather disappointing (tried a scoop of it over the counter) for a Chocolaterie.
Great chocolate, they even give you a
FREE handful of chocolate chips. It is cheap and has very nice scenery. Can get very busy but served nice food and had nice staff.😄👌🏻
What a great place to take friends and family when they come to visit. Surrounded by wineries and situated atop a hill with sensational views Yarra Valley Chocolaterie is perfect for cacao lovers of any age.
The service was professional, the cafe style food was magnificent and reasonably priced and the on site manufactured chocolate selection and quality was second to none. Make sure you take note of the huge, filled to overflowing free chocolate tasting bowls when you first walk in the door.
To quote a Melbourne legend "Do yourself a favour"
Always a treat when visiting this place. Had brekky over the weekend with family and were extremely satisfied. Had such beautiful views of the valley whilst indulging in brekky...
The milk hot chocolate was brilliant, such a huge serve to indulge in.
Sweets, treats are elegant and love the additional chocolate products provided ~ the chocky lip balm goes well on the lips 👄
Have been here a few times and impressed with service and variety of dishes available on the menu.
Hint: have to get there early to avoid disappointment of the lunchtime and mid afternoon rush as there are always winery tours making their way around the chocolaterie...

I'm an absolute dark-chocolate and ice cream fan. This place is like my wonderland :) I had a scoop of peach-mango flavor and my partner had jam-donut and vanilla scoops. They were massive!!! Definitely worth the price. We also got something for our family- the impressive one-meter long dark choc, two choc flavored tea and a dark-choc combo from different places.
Love going here. The chocolate is divine, the view is beautiful and the staff are very friendly, professional and helpful. But, if you're on a diet don't bother going.
It was a great place to buy my Easter eggs. Knowing the money is going to a local business and the quality is great, is a good feeling.
The three bowls of free chocolate buttons is a draw card but I never take any. Seeing people shove their hands in it instead of using the spoons is enough to put me off. Yuck!
It can get very busy and more often than not, buses full of overseas tourists are there. I have had many experiences with rude, pushy and arrogant tourists which ruin the experience somewhat. Certainly not the Chocolaterie's fault although perhaps some more proactive management could be considered.
Overall though, love coming here and for a local, is one of our favourite places to visit.
We came here on a very busy Saturday in March for a quick ice cream. I was glad to see that they moved the ice cream shop outside, meaning you don't have to go inside the crazy busy shop to get one! We ordered chocolate brownie and salted caramel macadamia, which were both delish! You can really taste the quality of the homemade ice cream 👍
Great pit stop for some sweet treats after a nice lunch in the Yarra Valley. We shared a macadamia cheesecake and a chocolate delight. $24 for two desserts and a coffee and a bottle of water isn't bad. The place was absolutely packed but we managed to get a seat and service was prompt. Then we proceeded to fill up a shopping basket and buy $150 worth of chocolate, pretty easy to do in there! We wanted to try the gelato on the way out but the line was too long to wait in the heat. Can't wait to open our goodie bag!
Savoury food was quite average and not worth the price. Coffee was good, desserts were delicious!
All in all, it's a nice family friendly chocolateria in a beautiful scenic location. Worth stopping by if you're in the area.
Visited here today as My Sister and I were in the area. Agree with other reviewers don't go their on Weekends or Public Holidays like today was. A lot of other people had the same idea. Car Park was also very busy and almost full. We went to the Chocolate Part first and had a walk around. As we walked along we picked up things we wanted to purchase and then when we had finished we went to the register to pay for our Sweet Treats. Some of the Prices are not cheap. We didn't even sit at a table and order anything to eat or drink as all the tables and chairs were taken. Then we walked back outside and got an Ice Cream each. I had a Scoop of Mint Choc Chip and a Scoop of Bounty both of which were delicious. My Sister had a Scoop of Peach and Mango and Strawberry which were also delicious. Would definitely go back again if not for the Chocolate but definitely the Ice Cream. A Great Place for families to visit as their is a Lawn/Grass Area for the Kids and Adults to run around on. They have a wide range of Ice Creams/Gelatos on offer. Not sure if the same flavours are available every day. Would definitely go back their again if I was in the area. Would also like to try the one down Geelong way as well.
Amazing hot chocolate. Not cheap. But excellent. Great building. Definitely worth a visit. Being able to watch staff making the chocolate was particularly impressive.

So many chocolate options chocolate chocolate chocolate. I particularly like and be chocolate brown is the best I've ever tasted and you can also buy your own home making kit.
2:30pm Sunday, near by fruits farm and wineries, this fantastic place has queues everywhere! They sale ice cream one outside and one inside the building. We skipped popular ice cream for later and went to order, real dark hot chocolate ( it comes with choc chip inside hot milk plus melted chocolate cup on side), latte made by local produced coffee beans, beautiful toppings kids pizza lunch comes with local juice, vanilla milk shake from the awesome ice cream, delicious warm chocolate brownies with the awesome vanilla ice cream & melted chocolate cups on side. Each of order was excellent as you can see on the photo. If you are sweets and chocolate lover, this place melt you down. Great view at outside bar table, plenty of picnic area and enjoyable for everyone.
To be honest, food here is okay however not as mind blowing as it should be for a chocolaterie and on the pricier side for what you get. It's all about the venue and experience though so you just have to swallow the price tag.
Visited the new Great Ocean Road (GOR) site in Bellbrae today and found some different items on the menu which looked more appealing than at Yarra Valley. E.g. sliders looked great as well as some of the salads.
Overall, worthwhile to visit particularly with the family but would recommend it as part of a visit to the area rather than the sole destination. Also great to pop in when they have the annual chocolate festival for special menu items - come early, it gets hectic!
SERVICE: 3.5/5
Weekends are always very busy however the service is as fast as it can be at register through to table service. Ample staff on hand who are all busy at their stations. The wait for food ordered is reasonable for the amount of patrons. Staff will not constantly tend to your table however they won't hesitate to get what's needed when you get their attention.
FOOD: 3.5/5
Pizzas are pretty tasty here and the baguettes are also fresh and flavourful. However, during the half dozen visits I've had here, the sweet menu is more satisfying.
IMO coffees are not great here either. Hot chocolate is good but the specialty variety not really worth the extra pennies.
Waffles: Good portion size and taste however I prefer the texture to have a light crunch on outside and fluffy on inside. These were a little dryer/chewier for my liking. Choc sauce helped though!
Ice-creams and sundaes: Yes, yes and yes...just do it!
Fungi+Cheese & Pumpkin+Pine Nut Pizzas: Both very tasty with the fungi being the standout. Pizza base not very traditional, more thin and biscuity but still enjoyable.
GOR has it's own special flavour made with prawns and smoked salmon which was quite enjoyable but I still prefer the fungi version.
Choc brownie: All the right flavours but consistency was a bit too wet/mushy for my liking. Prefer my brownie to be chewy inside and don't mind if there are chunky/crunchy bits in there...this one was just..soft. Served with ice cream and choc sauce which was a must.
Macarons: Only $1.80ea and you get what you pay for. A little too soft for my liking, could be chewier and ganache flavours don't stand out as others I've had.
Tip: Check out the specials board as I've found better menu items there, e.g. the schnitzel roll I had once was VERY good, I still remember that crunch!
DECOR & AMBIENCE: 4/5
There is a bit of a wow factor when you first arrive, greenery as far as the eye can see, ice cream station right out front and an overwhelming retail store stocking walls of their yummy products (oh my, that choc honeycomb). There is also viewing to the dessert kitchen but nothing like what you would expect if you're counting on Willy Wonka's version!
Dining area is very packed. There is an outdoor area which offers more space but of course at the mercy of the elements which is usually very windy or very hot. GOR site has got it right with a climate-controlled dining room surrounded by glass walls overlooking the outdoor area. Much more comfortable.
Outdoor grassed area provides loads of family fun time with various balls and sporting equipment left for guests to play with.
GOR site has a smaller outdoor area but the sandpit seems to be a winner for the kids.
KID FRIENDLY: Yes, high chair / change table / kids menu available, family friendly outdoor space.
GOR location have an activity station to grab buckets of pencils and colouring pad for the kids as well as a sandpit outside.
Pizza was very good, but as other reviewers have said it is their ice cream and desserts that excel here. It has a nice view and a large variety of Ice cream and chocolates.
The chocolates, Ice cream and other desserts are all very good. You can't help and go overboard here and have that sickly sweet feeling trying out all the sweets, overall a very good place for a coffee, pizza and obviously desserts.
This is the second time I've been here and it was both bustling with people! We ordered pizzas which were okay but I feel like the dessert items would be their specialty. It is definitely a great place to visit with the family and has really great views to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. I definitely wouldn't mind coming here again, especially to try their desserts and ice cream.
Super friendly and helpful staff. You can sample their delicious chocolates (choc drops). They've got an incredible and vast array of flavours and can of all different chocloate and choc covered items. Knitted items for mugs AND choc smelling hand cream which really was very hydrating.
Plus...gelato/ice cream. Dear lord is the pistachio good. And the scoops are humongous! Well worth the trip. Thanks guys!
Yarra Valley Chocolate Factory & Ice Creamery is a very modern Chocolate Factory, which includes a store and cafe on site. The view from the factory of the surrounding Yarra Valley and Healesville is very beautiful. The staff are very friendly in all sections Factory, Cafe and Store. The ice cream is average but tastes fresh and flavoursome. We would only recommend visiting during Yarra Valley Ice Cream Festival, Hot Chocolate Festival- as they have more flavours out during these times, and come up with some spectacular creations. Chocolate is similar to chocolate you will find at the Phillip Island Chocolate Factory, however more unexpected flavours.
TIP: Do try the Lavender and Honey Chocolate- our favourite. Try to visit during Ice Cream or Hot Chocolate Festivals, to make the visit worth your while- Booking is absolutely essential for Ice Cream Tastings, other activities on during these times.

The Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery is a fantastic property located in Yarra Glen. I visited the chocolaterie late morning on a Sunday to try a tasting session as part of the Annual Hot Chocolate Festival. My friend and I had a bit of time to kill before the tasting session so we took in the views and dug into some grub whilst we waited.
there are three items I will never miss getting every time i go to this place: ICE CREAM, MILK HOT CHOCOLATE, and BROWNIES! Doesn't matter if I get chocolate overload on the way home, it's worth it!
My favourite place to visit in the Yarra valley. An absolute must go if you're in that region. The baguettes are huge and the desserts are amazing. Ps. It really is the world's best brownie!!!
Firstly the name chocolate brings high energy to this place. Coming here is worth a visit anytime you like. Even if you like chocolates or not, this place is for all. They have a big spacious seating and big area to sell and make chocolates and ice creams. They have an iutdoor seating as well whch opens up into lush green views of the valley. Its just breathtaking watching it while sipping your coffee.
Most stuff is done in house and you can see the chocolate pouring on wheels. Must recommended is their hot chocolate. Apart from it you can actually try anything and its brilliant. Even the ice cream is to fall for.
I can go back here again n again.
Went to visit for hot chocolate festival. Had frog in a pond and red velvet hot chocolates. From in a pond was so disappointing, having had to wait so long due to how busy it was and then it comes out and it's lukewarm at best. Also ordered the scones, they were delicious!! And huge! Totally made up for the hot chocolate. Forget the hype of the hot choc festival guys and just order off their regular menu, much better!
Very big & spacious however gets busy almost all the time. Staff seems friendly & attentive. You can see they making chocolate their & other chocolate items. We had chocolate shake , melted chocolate each were nice but bit too sweet for me. Had a pistachio gelato tasted like some kinda herb. However still nice the out door area & the cafe. Free chocolate to taste. Overall I would rate 3.8*
Chocoholics beware - with its large store and extensive array of sweet treats, expect to lighten your wallet in order to feed your addiction! If visiting during the annual hot chocolate festival, expect a long wait before you get your hot chocolate fix as the store is packed with locals and tourists alike. Despite its popularity, the hot chocolate was underwhelming, even with the more exotic flavours. However, the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie sure knows how to make deliciously creamy and silky chocolate that will leave you wanting more!
Came to Yarra valley for the hot chocolate festival! Got the Magic matcha, Turkish delight hot chocolate and salted caramel eclair. The magic matcha was served with white chocolate, the White chocolate cancelled out the matcha flavour. The matcha wasn't actually completely dissolved properly making it gritty. The Turkish delight hot choc was served with a shot of rose water, tempered chocolate disc and milk chocolate. The flavours were spot on, it definitely tasted like a Turkish delight but the theatrics side of the hot chocolate was missing as the chocolate didn't melt through the tempered chocolate. However, both the hot chocolates were too rich and big in sizes. They were also served in paper cups which made it look unappetising. The salted caramel eclair was sensational, it wasn't too sweet - it was perfectly balanced. The chuox pastry was fresh, it didn't taste stale or old.The cream was a bit lifeless. The staff are friendly and worked in an orderly manner, especially with an influx of customers on a busy Saturday afternoon. Service was a bit slow due to the amount of people but at least there were tables outside that show cases the beautiful views outside. The chocolates there do taste amazing which compensates for the price you're paying
Salted caramel eclair along with a dark hot chocolate. Bubbly happy staff! (Clearly they're indulging in the stock) such a great atmosphere and layout! Loved seeing the factory in action
This is a fantastic place to get some good quality of chocolate. You can visit their chocolate factory just via a glass window from the shop. Their cafe was crowded but the view was absolutely beautiful. Tried their hot chocolate and it was devine. Love it.
This place is very cool. Prepare to walk into a room of chaos as it is very busy. We tried their famous chocolate brownie, it lived to its name! It was one of the best I've ever had! We also bought lots of chocolate. Our favourite from our purchases was the milk chocolate rocky road...one of the best I've ever had! The location of this place is very beautiful too, nice country backdrop while enjoying a coffee...perfect

A drive into the vineyards, out of the congestion of the city and into a world that closely resembles Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory. Let your inner child squeal. The Yarra Valley Chocolate and Ice Creamery is a busy place. But given that, I was going there mid-week, neither on a public or school holiday, I felt like I had the best chance of getting to see the place during a lull. Alas, I was wrong.
First time visiting this place and i must say i would definitely go back. So much amazing chocolate to choose from. Decided to try a hot chocolate from the cafe and it was to die for. You got extra chocolate incase you needed to add more just prefect.

Very cute shapes. And very good price. Chilli comb tastes interesting. It's actually quite spicy and lasting for a while. Combing chocolate with different percentage of cacao is a good idea, so I can try each of them and now I know 62% is the right one for me.
Super cute place with some pretty views of the valley complete with cows and sheep dotting the landscape. Unfortunately due to the place's popularity, on a weekend, this place is FULL. Super FULL. Festival style FULL. So many people crammed in every space (particularly due to the Melbourne winter chill) I would recommend trying this place, if possible, on a day off on a weekday. The staff were all pleasant and friendly, and despite the large crowd, we got our food, drinks and dessert quite quickly. The scones were huge and delicious (although cream was that weird fluffy creamy stuff). The hot chocolate was too milky, but vanilla ice cream yummo. The lunch was unexpectedly not bad, pub cafe style. The grounds are not huge, but kid friendly for young kids to comfortably run around and burn off their sugar highs.
We must have arrived at a weird time to view chocolate making (Saturday 3pm) as we didn't see much chocolate making (it was more chocolate box packing) but would be fun for kids to see either way.
Chocolate heaven for chocolate lovers like me. Me and my friend had the chocolate fondue. I think there was too much sweetness in one platter. They serve: banana, Apple, honeycomb, marshmallow, liquorish, nougat, and a firm-caramel-nut candy along with milk chocolate dip. Too me personally it was too sweet especially the honeycomb and the caramel candy its just too sweet if you dip with milk chocolate (maybe better with dark chocolate).
Also, we had the giant raspberry macaroon and it was delicious.
It was a fun experience. We love the place. They have the transparent glass for the customers to see how to make all the sweets.
Would come back for the chocolate goodies but not the fondue :)

After finally having a day off, I thought I'd go out and try this place.
Plus being a work day and not school holidays... I loved my chances.
To be honest, this place's hot white chocolate was definitely the best I have had. This alone is worth the drive out here.
All chocolate lovers big and small come here. A wide variety of sweets and treats available both in store (including chocolate smelling soap) and cafe. Food was good, only disappointing factor was fondue portion size, at $28 we excepted a lot bigger! Being advertised as for four - more like for 2 as well as was limited in range of fresh fruit.
Great place to bring your kids to . Good view with good food . We come back from time to time. It's always packed , but once we had a chance to dine in . We end up order too much . Finally we stuffed with 2 hot chocolate , a scone with jam & cream , 2 chocolate sweet that I forgot the name . Yum !
I love walking through the shop filled with delicious chocolates. Went in for brekky today. We had the Creamy Fungi with poached egg and waffles. Looks so good on the plate. Presentation and taste OMG party in my mouth!
Perfect place to overindulge.....great range of light meals, decadent desserts and confectionary for sale. The scenery in the Yarra Valley is just gorgeous and you could sit on the lawn for some time, just soaking up the view. Highly recommend the milk chocolate bar with macadamias & salted caramel as a must have......really creamy & buttery. The only downside to this place is its popularity- very hectic on the weekend & it's a struggle to get a table if there are lots of bus tours &/or inclement weather.
This is a great place for an outing and somewhere the whole family will enjoy. Their chocolate is fantastic and they have such a wide array to choose from. You'll spend most of your time just looking through it trying to figure out what to buy. The location is beautiful too. I was just a little disappointed with the cafe though. The mousse was poor quality and I didn't like the flourless cake either. I thought they tasted a little bit cheap to be honest. But I would definitely go back and I'd be willing to try some other things from the menu.
Death by chocolate and was a worthwhile trip down to the valley rain, hail or shine. This place is a big tourist spot so try and get in early or just make do by bringing a picnic blanket and soaking up the sun whilst indulging in your favourites. It can get very hot here so if you can, go early and get a spot inside where there is air conditioning but when it's not too hot, the outdoor area is beautiful and gives you a lovely view of the vineyards too. Grab a on icecream out the front on the in or out...or both! Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!
This chocolate and ice cream factory is the perfect place where you can relax and pig out, whilst admiring the Victorian landscape. Try a few samples, watch pastry chefs decorate and create their in-store products, and splurge on ice cream and hand-made chocolate creations. No matter what you hear, the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery is not just for kids!
If you're a chocolate lover you will love this place! A beautiful spot to enjoy some delicious treats. We were lucky enough to get tickets to the ice cream festival with a tasting of 12 flavours in their production area. The ice cream is wonderfully smooth and creamy, my favourites were the pistachio, salted caramel and mango sorbet which was so creamy it was hard to believe it was a water based sorbet. A huge variety of chocolates to take home plus free samples of their milk, white and dark pastilles. Yum!
nice place to spend half a day at ... haven for chocolate lovers but prices are touristy ... food was good and choccamochachino is a must try
came here to buy their 1m chocolate twice, the taste of the chocolate itself was only okay, but they have lots of option to give as a present.
from small size button chocolate until 1m and 1kg block chocolate.
service was good, and they sure know what they are selling.
5/11/17
Had a quick lunch here and ordered their baguettes, scones, pumpkin quiche and their famous brownies, caesar salad, all were sooo yummy!!
I always thought that their food will be very basic as they are selling choco, but i guess im wrong!
Their baguette was homemade and it was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside and not hard at all like most baguette are, and the mixture of the filling were just awesome.
Service always good as usual, and the brownies and scones are to die for!
Will always go back.
Came here about a month ago and the chocolate mousse was delicious as well as the chocolate covered coffee drops. However, wait times are unbearable when Queuing to eat at the cafe.
Oh my... what an amazing day out!
The lunch menu is very country-side... nice crispy baguettes filled with local produce. Finiahed off with icecream, icecream and then some chocolate!
Sure ive eaten better icecream / gelato in the city or overseas, but there isnt much to complain about when you drive over an hour for a great experience.
The chocolate selection is amazing. Sonething to cater for everyone.
Only negatives are the fact that many people (mainly international) dont understand or appreciate the concept of lining up in an orderly fashion or waiting your turn. The staff do their best to control this.
The later in thw day you go the longer the lines, and the chance that your favourite icecream might have run out for the day!
Nice if you like chocolates, large selection of chocolates , but you can get carried away buying too much chocolate. Ice-cream is very nice with many flavoures. The only set back for me was the requires more staff to serve ,customers waiting to long .otherwise pleasant place, and kids would love it.
If you're visiting the Yarra Valley, you're very likely winery hopping and sampling the best the Victorian vineyards have to offer. My good friend recommended breaking up the day with a visit to this chocolate emporium and I'm glad he did. With hundreds of sweet and unique options to choose from this is a great spot to grab a coffee and an ice cream and some chocolatey good gifts. Highly recommended from this dark chocolate connoisseur.
Interesting place to visit, chocoholics paradise. Free samples at the foot with a wide range of food an sweet delights. Their vanilla bean ice cream is very nice and a single scoop is large and ample. Their hot chocolate come as hot milk on a glass with chocolate pieces in the bottom. You are provided a whisk to stir it and a small cup of melted chocolate to add as you like, amazing. Interesting thing about this place is the actual chocolate is not made in Aust, it is imported in and the products are produced here, try and find that written on any of the products! Overall very good if you have a sweet tooth.
This place never fails to disappoint the chocolate lover. It all starts as soon as you enter the front door and are greeted by three large dishes of white, milk and dark chocolate chips you can sample as much as you like. So many variations - you could never try them all. The ice cream also looked amazing - friends had the dark chocolate sorbet which looked divine. Always very busy here but worth it if you have a sweet tooth!
Tasty creamy chocolates and ice-cream at a reasonable place that is set in the relaxing fields of Yarra Glen. A great place for a family outing or for buying chocolaty gifts.

Yummy place for sweet treats, lovely selections of chocolate and desserts, all at a good price will definitely be back for more soon ........
Absolutely fun place to bring kids to this chocolate wonderland.. You can watch choc making, free tasting and try their beautiful raspberry macaron..yum!
If you're visiting the Yarra Valley you definitely have to check out this popular attraction. See how the chocolate is made and more importantly taste the results. Top it off by enjoying an ice cream on the lawn outside and you've got yourself a great afternoon out
This was my 2nd visit to the YVC, this time we brought family (visiting from NZ) to experience this Aussie version of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, it has to be seen to be believed! The building is the size of an aircraft hangar and has a huge variety of chocolate creations that makes choosing items to buy rather difficult. Visiting on a Saturday (or Sunday) is best avoided, it is crazy busy, and my husband and my aunt (in her 70's) only lasted 5 mins battling the crowds inside before they escaped outside. There are some excellent chocolate blocks and products that would make wonderful gifts for friends/family overseas or just anyone who loves chocolate, the flavours and packaging are quite impressive and unique. The chocolaterie is perched on top of a small hill overlooking green lawns and with views of the Yarra Valley, a lovely location. There are lots of leafy trees planted on the YVC lawns, some are just big enough to provide a little shade on a hot day. The icecreamery was doing a roaring trade and you get a very generous serve, it's good value. A must for visitors to Melbourne and all chocolate lovers!
Best place to have fun with the family? It has a huge backyard and a few toys for the kids, best chocolate and ice cream so far, weekends gets a bit busy but we still managed to get a table
Such a beautiful drive to this place and the atmosphere is just nice! At the entrance, you get to taste chocolates & who knows you might want to take some home with you (because it tastes really good).
Their desserts displayed are just making life so hard trying to decide what to have.
It tastes really good😊
WARNING: this place is not good for sweet lover.
They have like a hundred choices of desserts. It's a nice place to go after winery to relax or wind down. You can't go wrong with desserts and their wide range of drinks.
Wide range of interesting chocolate flavours. Good to be able to see how they make it through the big windows into the factory. The gelato is delicious and the views are lovely. Friends got the hot chocolate and it looks like chocolate heaven.
Ah, a chocolate store that sells pretty much nothing but chocolate. It's practically everyone's dream! And this place certainly isn't a let down. Situated in the beautiful area of Yarra Valley, we arrived in the morning on a beautiful, cloudless day.
So I have to preface this with the fact we went on a public holiday, which meant the amount of people also visiting the place was staggering (you could barely move at some points inside). However, we were told by a friend that normally this isn't the case, we just went at a bad time.
Overall the Chocolaterie was great. Stacked with chocolate on every shelf and with a glass window that peers inside the actual 'kitchen' area where they make the chocolate, it's definitely worth it for how delicious their confectioneries are.
We sat down for lunch as well, and their menu consisted of baguettes and pizza. Not a huge variety but the pizza was delicious and the baguettes were huge in size. A pretty decent meal if a tad expensive. We got ice cream after and holy crud the servings were enormous! Check the photos if you don't believe me. We left feeling very full and loaded with chocolate that we bought as well.
Bit of a trek to get to but definitely worth the experience. Great place to take your kids as well on a nice day trip :)
wow - such a sugar overload! so bright and colourful and way too much to choose from but definitely worth a visit when up in the Yarra Valley.
Chocolate heaven! The speciality hot chocolates are complex in their flavour combinations, and definitely very interesting. The staff are super nice, making for a great experience, especially with big bowls of free samples as soon as you walk in!
This place makes me wish I was Willy Wonka! It is completely decadent. When we went it was brimming with people. However, this place is a chocolate lover's paradise. I could become the world's biggest fatty if I come here too often. I suspect that this is a lovely place for kids, but the weather was a bit miserable when we were here. There is something for everyone: ice cream, chocolate, truffles and a cafe with some goodies.
This place is always crazy busy, if you want a little peace & quiet visit during early week, & definitely not in school holidays. All cafe staff are pleasant & service is good. You have to be patient for food wait as they can get inundated. The menu is quite boring I feel, I don't eat out to pay a fortune for glorified sandwiches (the baguettes), pizzas are lovely, the rest is pretty much sweet stuff. I'm not a sweet tooth so the menu is not suited to me personally but I know plenty of people who go here & love it. The homemade cakes & sweets in cafe fridge are amazingly perfect to look at. A great show of staff abilities. The showroom is always looking spot on with presentation of their products & the viewing window into production is always an interesting peek. Great outdoor areas for kids to play or just to wander around & enjoy the fresh air. The owner is a very prickly pear if you ever happen to bump into her beware. Be sure to visit if you love the sweeter things in life!
Well worthy stop if you're in the Yarra valley and love chocolate and ice cream! Extremely busy the Saturday afternoon we dropped in but staff were helpful and friendly.
Ever wanted to visit Willy Wonka's chocolate factory? Well this is the Aussie version of it! Whenever I go to the Yarra Glen vineyards, I would drive pass here and get bowls and bowls of chocolate and especially waffles! Upon ordering, you can order it with white, milk or dark chocolate to pour over your waffles. I personally like the dark more so the whole thing isn't too overwhelmingly sweet. Definitely a must have when going to Yarra Glen area!
We went for the Hot Chocolate Festival. $12 got you a spot in the small group hot choc tastings. 8 different ones. Some good, some bad. Great atmosphere and amazing staff. The range in the factory shop is phenomenal and the grounds are lovely.
Visited as it was the Hot Chocolate Festival. Tried the honey & lavender hot chocolate and tasted nice. There were 6 flavours available for the week. They advertised as having 31 flavours over 31 days. Other flavour tried was turkish delight. Also had a scone with jam and cream. The size of the scone was massive (about 2 scones in size). I had an ice cream cone with Chocolate Espresso Shot and Perfect Pancake scoops. Tasted really creamy and delicious with great flavour. Service was good. Free chocolate pastilles to taste in dark, milk, and white.
A very busy weekend visit filled with a valley of chocolate treats.
Bumper to bumper of chocolate lovers gorging on house made chocolate treats.
Dine in the cafe overlooking the valley fields enjoying hot chocolate, fondue, sundaes and yes the option for something savoury is available.
A good stop off on your travels of the Yarra valley
The scenery was stunning and there was plenty of parking. We were pretty amazed at just how busy it was although it was a cool Sunday and the hot chocolate festival is running. If you don't feel like battling a crowd or dealing with screaming kids and competing for a table out of the bitter wind I wouldn't recommend coming!
The open kitchen style window into the chocolaterie is a cool feature and the selection of chocolate is pretty amazing although priced as you would expect for a chocolaterie compared to your supermarket choices. We took home some milk chocolate peanut brittle (delicious!) and dark chocolate coated freeze dried strawberries - which I thought were quite good value compared to other products I've tried.
The specialty hot chocolates were another matter.. The mini cup of chocolate that seems to be promoted as a bonus or extra needs to be tipped straight into the drink to give it any chocolate flavour. My boyfriend made the mistake of eating his and had a very milky and barely lukewarm drink to finish afterward. Having said that for $7.50 each they weren't bad value, the slam dunk came with two mini chocolate filled donuts and the chocolate brownie had two mini cubes of brownie - so you are getting dessert and hot chocolate in one - we were definitely on a sugar high by the time we left!
The "Da Dog" baguette was also tasty and enough for two to share for lunch with one of the hot chocolates each!
All in all we had a good time - just know what to expect and to dress warmly as the majority of the tables are situated outside.
Currently in Melbourne we're experiencing what is playfully referred to the arctic vortex. In other words, our coldest winter in about 30 years. So the Yarra Valley Hot Chocolate Festival really couldn't have come at a better time. For an entree, we wolfed down a strawberry flan with whipped cream and melted chocolate. I say wolfed because it was gone about 30 seconds after it hit the table. And then I proceeded to use my finger to scrape out the rest of the melted chocolate from the little cup. This was our idea of keeping it healthy. Fruit means healthy right?
As part of their Hot Chocolate Festival for August I attended their Hot Chocolate Tasting for $12. Got to try 8 different hot chocolates, all freshly made with Belgian chocolate. My favourite were the Honey Berry White Hot Chocolate and Mississippi Mud Pie Hot Chocolate. Most of the samples came with handmade marshmallows and one came with a brownie piece. A great range of flavours with something for everyone. Staff were really friendly and obviously love their job!
The store offers free white, milk and dark chocolate samples and has a huge range of chocolates to buy.
There is also a cafe to have lunch at with a decent sized sweet and savoury menu.
It's like your walking into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory! Chocolate everywhere!!! Have driven past so many times on our way to a winery & regret not stopping there every time. When we finally visited a few months ago, we made sure we stop over every time. Desserts are really good, especially the waffles. Plenty of gift ideas for yourself or for that special someone. The choices are endless. Lovely outside area & plenty of room for kids to run around and play.
And they tasted every bit as good as they looked! More of a cross between a crumpet and scone, they were super light and fluffy, and that chocolate went perfectly with that magical honeycomb butter melted all over them… I’d be hard pressed to order something other than these if I were to visit for breakfast again!
It’s a hard life being a food blogger. Our portion control issues are continuously tested time and time again and I fail every time. When someone asks you, “We have 12 flavours for you to try today, how many would you like?”….the answer is always 12. 12 indeed. Always 12. Recently, I was invited to a sneak peak taste test of the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery’s Ice cream Festival! That’s right, my friend. 12 days ahead of creamy deliciousness. 12 days. It’s probably better than the 12 days of Christmas for us food folk. No partridges in a pear tree here! Or you might even find a delicious pear gelato. Mmm ice cream.
This place is a gem for families with kids. It's fantastic because kids can run around in the outdoor area while you watch from the verandah area close by. The views are spectacular and the food is divine! We love this place.
Beautiful view, and relaxing place to visit. Nice selection of desserts and food. We had pumpkin quiche, potato and leek soup. It's very fresh and delicious. Avoid to visit on weekends if you want to relax and enjoy the view and meal. The place is always busy on weekends.

We came in at a very busy time, but still managed to find a seat to grab a bite.
The views to the Yarra Valley are lovely, and appreciated the house-made pizza bases for our Margarita.
Fun place to visit - especially for kids. View is lovely. Their chocolate is delicious and so is their ice cream. The dark chocolate giant freckle is awesome! Had their chocolate fondue and scones for lunch - so decadent and delicious! I don't recommend it for anyone who doesn't like kids or chaos. It's not the place for a quiet coffee or lunch! Always so busy and hard to get a table or even queue to buy anything. Worth it to grab some chocolate to go, but not the most pleasant 'eat in' experience if you don't have kids.
Went to the Yarra Valley for a two nights stay and managed to go to the Chocolaterie 4 times! The scones were so delicious, the chocolate pizza was very rich and the base was more of a hard bread but overall was beautiful. The taste testing of the chocolate bits was wonderful as it allowed you to have a taste of the chocolate made there. Highly recommend this to all you chocolate lovers!
I saw the giant sample bowls brimming with chocolate, and I felt instantly at ease. (And yes! You can sample to your hearts' content.)...I wandered about the giant store for a bit, but what intrigued me the most was the work the chocolatiers were doing behind the glass wall. On my previous visit, I was curious whether Yarra Valley Chocolaterie produces their own chocolate, and brought it up when I got into a conversation with one of the friendly staff. I was told that they source their chocolate from Callebaut (a Belgian chocolate brand).

We went here last Sunday and it was a beautiful Melbourne day, Sunny with a cool breeze. We decided to go to the Chocolaterie, it is about 45 min drive so its not that far and a lovely drive. It was quiet according to our friends who went a few weeks ago. It is quite large place and you can see them making the chocolates in front of you. When you walk in they have free samples of chocolates. While we where here we decided to have some snacks from the cafe'. It was all very sweet and rich. I normally have no problem eating all my food but i couldn't, it was too much. Our friends shared the macarons and waffles, I had the brownies and a mocha because i read the coffee was pretty bad. The mocha was super sweet and i could not taste the coffee so i had my caffeine fix and the coffee tasted ok. They had such a selection of flavoured chocolates and worth a visit. Thanks Kind E-gards Dale Stewart
...There is a sit down cafe but they also sell an extensive range of products (and even a see through window to see chocolate products being produced and made on the spot )- all on a lovely piece of land with beautiful gardens to explore nearby.
The festival starts today and continues until the 1st of March. Over the 12 days there will be 144 flavours of ice cream to taste, inspired by local ingredients from neighbouring wineries, dairies and YVCI’s own kitchen garden and orchards (should I email them about my grenache gelato suggestion?).
With decadent walls of chocolate, large tasting bowls of pastilles, a enticing view of the chocolate-makers at work, and a café offering the most luxurious of desserts, the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie gratifies the most prominent cocoa aristocrat with hand-made chocolates and a rather modestly named ‘the best brownie’ with a shot of hot couveture chocolate. Violent crumble ($12) Violent crumble ($12) The violent crumble is a gargantuan glass of chocolate, caramel and vanilla icecream, doused in a rich fudge sauce and laced with chunks of crunchy, stick-to-your-teeth honeycomb. The chocolate icecream is predictably a favourite – incredibly smooth and creamy, it is so devilishly decadent that it is a little difficult to finish off. For those looking for something to take home, the chocolaterie boasts ‘The Great Wall of Chocolat
Passion Berry Summer Delight. A good balance between the sweetness of the chocolate, the creaminess of the whipped cream and tartness of the berries.
Have been here a few times, and while extremely 'touristy' a must at least once. Besides, they have arguably the largest ice cream serves for the money in Victoria:)
Best place to eat Chocolate in Melbourne. Although a bit of a drive if you live in the city, the drive itself is scenic & pleasant. The venue is located on a huge premise, Definitely kid friendly and stunning views. The chocolate is made fresh on site using high quality ingredients. Although absolutely packed, our table of 4 adults and 2 kids started to receive food within 10 mins.
Meals & desserts are Country Large serves. My violent crumble sundae ($15) was so massive I could only finish 2/3 rds of it. I ordered a tasty foccacia of Duck, rocket, greens and plum sauce ($17.50) to balance out the meal, which was double sized - I ate half for dinner later it was so big. My mother's Chicken and Bacon pizza ($16) sold me after trying a slice. Chicken was tender, bacon well seasoned & the base crispy.
Although definitely a dark chocolate fan, the toasted coconut & curry leaf milk chocolate block had a pleasant mouth feel that was better than eating Valrhona Milk varieties.
The only downside to this place is it gets Busy! My sunny Sunday birthday lunch was noisier than I prefer. I'd look to share my food next time as in most cases the serving size is designed for sharing.
White, milk and dark chocolate mousse. Bit rich!
Fabulous. Great place to visit not only with the gorgeous panoramic views but the free chocolate samples and the delicious desserts from the cafe! My kids love coming here as there is plenty of space to run around outside and play. A Success for the Yarra Valley!
Very busy place, but the service is fairly quick and chirpy. The food was pretty good, loved the chocolate fondue, would love to suggest to them to have a fruit based one only as you really don't need all the other sweet things in it. Good coffee too. Our table had a range of meals and they were all good, the kitchen is very flexible in catering for gluten free options too. Will be back with the family.
A true treasure of the Yarra Valley! If you are around the Yarra Valley you must go here! Wonderful chocolate, wonderful staff. We went on the weekend with a big group for my husband's birthday. Everybody loved it and cannot wait to go back.
What a fantastic place!. It was my first visit today, the first of many to come!
Fantastic views, wonderful pizza, and lemon meringue tart to die for!
It ticks all the boxes for ambience, chocolate and great food.
Great addition to the Yarra Valley. This is a great concept and provides another option to wine tasting when visiting the valley. Fantastic views, lots of room for kids to run round and when we went very, very busy, which is apparently the norm on weekends. Great for families -couples would probably find it more enjoyable during the week when not so chaotic. A must for chocoholics .
Gorjus views , yummy chocolate and ice cream's and lung was yummy too. Angelette the waitress is so lovely and friendly . Really enjoyed my day yesterday . Thanks again and would highly recommend it for a lovely day out :))
Beautiful selection of chocolates, nougat, cakes and ice cream. Very crowded but still got a nice sunny spot on the outside deck. Fun to also see the staff making the chocolates. Highly recommend the fondue.
Good, but watch the ice cream. Lunch in the cafe was great, free chocolate buttons were a nice touch, but my tiramisu ice cream tasted like run n raisin, my daughters bubblegum tasted like wild berry and honeycomb was all honey needed chocolate, no highs and lows. Not the best for $4.80 a scoop.
Very nice place!! Not only desserts and chocolate tasted great but savoury dishes were ver nice as well!! Great service !! Very pleasent place ! Great for a trip outside Melb:)
Great chocolate, great chocoalte sorbet and ice cream. Bit on the pricey side, but worth it. Nice location on the hill.
OMG wow! So exciting to see the chocolates being made. Gorged in the cafe and now I'm feeling over full. Yummy yummy hot choc and waffle. The mousse is too sickly for one. Better shared. Was dying to have a sweet pizza but couldn't face more food. Need to lay down for a week now :)
Happy place. A bit dear, that's true. But so much joy. Yummy deserts, ice cream and chocolates. Beautiful outdoor area that allows the kids to go feral after all the sweet stuff.
will go back (perhaps on a weekday next time)
Seriously one of the best run places in the Yarra Valley, cannot fault
Excellent. Great chocolate and icecream I had the creme brule o'range that was deliciois served with cream and my partner had the brownie served with icecream and hot chocolate very delicious. If you like chocolate you will like it here.
This popular eatery is great for the young at heart. Hot chocolate the best I have ever had
Yummmmmmmmyyyyyy. I went here for hot choclolate with my partner an loved it so much we came back for my Birthday Breakfast. We had Hot Chocolate and Waffles and i will bring my kids back next time.
Had breakfast and chose the waffles!!!..so light and fluffy great feed all round. Will be back again!
What a great place. Obviously very popular. Products are a tad 'exy' but chocolate was delicious. The demand was a surprise
Pretty setting. Not amazing but still pretty. Definitely a family friendly place but was however a little taken aback by the abundance if signs out the front that advised no smoking (really? I mean really? Outside even? Discriminatory) no picnics and no dogs! I mean, unless we are standing in private property (which we aren't, I checked), why can't we do any if those things?
The "free sample@ chocolate bowls at the front entrance, whilst a good concept need to be manned - grubby fingers grabbing at the chocolate (even adults, they should be ashamed) very unhygienic. It was extremely busy during our visit, mainly with families and screaming children (too much sugar?). The chocolates were ok - just ok. Some were quite bland. I made the mistake and bought quite a lot given their packaging and price set a particular standard. Not so. Had the chocolate fondue platter. That was delicious as was their coffee. I might give it another go but will not be buying their chocolates nor will I visit on a weekend - ill go during the week when sugar crazed children ( and their frazzled parents) are at school!
Not bad. Great ice cream for a sunny day sitting on the grass, but that's about it. Chocolate is overpriced and the hordes of children make this anything but a relaxing or nice place. Still needs some development especially garden wise. Ice cream and choccie is good though.
We had a great experience. Friendly staff, great facilities and lovely food and gorgeous deserts. Loved the choccie samples and the selections available to buy. The only downsides is that the food was a bit on the pricey side and it's screaming for a kid's play area with a slide etc
Fun location, average service. Great pizza and dessert! But service let down the experience.
I just wish we lived a little closer to this chocolate flavoured dream! Amazing array of sweet delights & of course the samples didn't go unnoticed... The chocolate shot with dessert left this chocaholic with a very chocolatey smile... Nom nom nom!
It is a lovely location and the shop/cafe is very well presented and clean. I went for lunch and had the blt sand which my friend had the steak sand which. Both were nice but nothing to rave over, but lets be honest we didn't go there for the sandwiches we went for the chocolate, I had the white choc cheesecake and it made you for everything it was amazing, I also got some macaroons which are my weakness but one was hard and both lacked flavour. Overall if you are in the area pay it a visit but I wouldn't go all the way out there just for it.
I went here for the first time with my boyfriend yesterday, I have wanted to go for ages and finally got a chance to! I am a big chocolate lover and absolutely loved almost everything about this place! The white hot chocolate was to die for! Friendly staff and great service!
However I would not recommend going here for a quiet cosy afternoon, there are limited tables inside (all of which were taken) so for those of us forced to sit outside its absolutely freezing, windy and full of screaming children. I suggest making a bit more room inside for tables as winter approaches but apart from that everything was fantastic, even well under the price range I expected! :)
Don't go for ambiance. Although the views and the drive are lovely, this isn't the place to go for a romantic/cute/cosy etc. outing.
The space is expansive and the outdoor eating area good on a warm day. But it's windy and loud, and full of tiny kids on a Saturday lunchtime. It's great that the kids can run around on the lawn, but they don't exactly provide a relaxing experience. The whole atmosphere is a bit lunch-at-the-zoo/museum.
However, the food (savoury and sweet) is great, and that should be enough of a redeeming factor for most people. The DIY hot chocolate is a winner, as is the BLT, and the hazelnut 'creme brulee' which is more of a mousse.
The real wow factor is in the shop part. There are endless variations of products featuring the incredibly delicious in-house chocolate. The quality of the chocolate really is worth travelling for, although prepare to spend LOTS of money. Buy bags or gift-style arrangements of choc, or pick your own delicious individual truffles and flavoured treats.
All in all, would recommend if you don't mind putting up with crowds, kids, noise and typically outer-city mentality.
The first thing you notice is the breathtaking view( rolling country hills covered with yellowing grape vines). But as soon as you step in you are greeted with the jarring sounds of an extremely busy venue filled with loud chatter, frenzied customers and rampant children! Creative items for purchase but overpriced especially for those with kids. The ice cream was creamy but a little too sweet as were the macaroons. Quick and friendly service but you could tell that they were struggling. Haphazard payment process which could use a serious decluttering overhaul change so that customers could spend more time looking at the items without fear of getting in someone's way. Overall an experience to be tried but be prepared to spend a bit.
First experience here today, heard good reviews from friends. Very loud and busy during school holidays though! We got coffees and a hot chocolate which was divine! Love the warm shot of milk chocolate. Shared the fondue for two between three people. Very decadent and rich but very nice. My mum ordered some icecream which was so fruity and yummy. Will definitely go back again!
Good first impression. The place was flat chat Easter Monday, but we braved it anyway. A friendly entry with two Bunnies ready to meet and greet which was lovely. Inside, it was difficult to get close to the chocolate viewing, but we managed to find a seat inside. There was a bit of a happy hum about the place, and it's possibly due to the free chocolate at the door. Kids were tucking in hands and all mind you - if you feel your immune system is up to it, help yourself! There are serving spoons which I told my kids to use, but clearly unsupervised children can't resist nicking a handful (and some older people too for that matter).
We were just there for afternoon tea, so I can only vouch for the milkshakes. The staff were very friendly and we requested two glasses for one chocolate milkshake and they were happy to oblige. We also ordered a mint milkshake, and all were happy with their choices.
Two hot chocolates arrived after ordering about 10 minutes before. I didn't consider this a long wait considering the amount of customers. It was just warm enough. It came on a little plate with a spoon, mini whisk and a side of free chocolate shot. We weren't asked which shot we'd like unfortunately so were delivered milk chocolate. White chocolate and dark chocolate - which would have been my choice - were also on offer. We could see it swirling about from our table. Anyway, we didn't make an issue of it.
The milk was quite warm enough to melt the chocolate, and once whisked in, made for the perfect chocolate flavour. Really yummy, I would like it hotter in winter, so perhaps that would be the case. The shot was served in a little cardboard cup. I am being a fusspot here, but I would have liked it in something other than card, glass or porcelain, but then it's 'free' so I'll accept this rich and delicious offering anyway!
The queue for the ice cream was mega long, but we hope to try that next time. Perhaps suss out breakfast. What we had was lovely though, and there were some different offerings. Particularly curious about the bush spice chocolates, so picked up one to send to a friend O/S. We also bought a four pack of chocolate animals within chocolate eggs which was quirky and cute.
After our snack it was lovely to head outside and enjoy the perfect Autumn afternoon. There were lots of balls about for the kids to kick, and plenty of space.
We'd come again to sample the proper meals and ice cream, it was a good first experience in spite of the crowd.
Amazing! Wow! Went Easter Saturday and the place was jam packed! Well done to the staff, they coped beautifully. We had a wonderful day with afternoon tea and then an egg hunt for the kids.
We had the chocolate mud pizza, choc brownie, berry ice cream plus teas and coffees. Also, the kids enjoyed their colouring in sheets and buckets of pencils. We found the food to be of exception quality, the serves were generous and consistent. LOVED the tasting bowls as we arrived and couldn't remove the kids from the viewing window into the kitchens. Came home with a beautifully presented pressie for the Nana too. Loved loved loved, we will definitely be back.
Ample car parking, plenty seating inside and outside with amazing views. Such a clever marketing strategy to have huge and I mean huge bowls of white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate buttons at front counter to taste!!! Our group of four had BLTs and Steak sandwiches all of which were very tasty. Cakes were "to die for" Gluten free Chocolate tart and Coffee almond tart. We spent $102.00 on Chocolate treats alone of which there were sooooooo many to choose from!! Chocolate covered snakes, White chocolate honeycomb, Chocolate Macadamia clusters and the list goes on and on and on!! The staff were very efficient and service was fast!! A great place for families and will definitely go back again and recommend to our friends!!!!!! Great afternoon indeed!! :)
GREAT DESSERTS, GREAT VIEWS!. My partner and I dined here on a Saturday afternoon. The view is simply breath taking and to enjoy a meal outside was wonderful! The decor is great, with taste testers and an open glass view into the chocolate making factory! wonderful! The dessert is simply beautiful and my lunch (risotto) had great flavour and texture! The hot chocolate was a 'do it yourself' very cute idea but didn't taste to good basically just milk and then a really really strong chocolate flavour didn't mix well. Finally somewhere you can bring the kids! Overall great experience and would go again!
Great Hot Chocolate. We found this place while visting the Yarra Valley this weekend and stopped in. There's lots of chocolate to buy, but they also make a great hot chocolate. It's made with their chocolate buttons at the bottom and then topped with hot milk. They provide you with a small whisk to mix it with. It also comes with a shot glass of molten chocolate which you can add to your hot chocolate or have by itself. There's also a range of nice sorbets/ice cream.
As we walked through the front door we were greeted by not one, not two, but THREE massive bowls of dark, milk and white chocolate for FREE TASTING. Oh wow, combined that with the kick-ass air conditioning with an outside temperature of 35 degrees , you know where you can find me for the rest of the day! There is much to see within the chocolaterie. The kids were fascinated with watching the chocolate production behind the giant glass window on one side of the building. You'd be surprised at how long our children were entertained by strawberries being covered in chocolate, moving along a lengthy conveyor belt to cool and emerging on the other end as a choc-di
The first thing that hits you as you walk in, other than the smell of chocolate is how big, bright and colourful the place is. It’s HUGE. Walls lined with chocolate, people walking around with samples of chocolate, being able to watch the chocolatiers make the chocolate…With a casual café towards the back, you can grab a light lunch, without breaking the bank like you would at many popular wineries. The views are gorgeous too!
