Review Misschu - Yarra

Could’ve been 5 stars easily, I hope they improve with this feedback. I ordered the Honey Iced Tea and they charged me for the Milk Ice Tea instead and when I mentioned the order was wrong the staff insisted that’s what I said. That wouldn’t have been what I said because I don’t order milk, ever 😬 I’ve ordered Chicken Curry with Rice Noodles for takeaway dinner and it was quite a refreshing taste. They give you lettuce and mints in a separate bag so you can add them yourself, as well as the sauce in a separate container. The lettuce wasn’t fresh sadly. I’ve also ordered the Beef & Kimchi spring rolls which was overpriced. Overall, an okay dinner but the experienced could be so much better.

Was wanting a light, healthy delivery dinner and this was perfect. My tofu and mushroom vermicelli bowl was decently priced, very fresh and full of flavour. Would definitely get it again.

Although a very commercial chain of restaurants...the food is very good. This is a popular eateryfor both in house and Uber. Service is quick, staff are nice. Highly recommend

The lemongrass beef noodle salad is amazing! Also the bao buns were good too. Staff were friendly and the food came out quickly. Pho was a little disappointing as it lacked flavour and was quite watery. Everything else was great.

I think the low rating of this place is a more accurate reflection of the effect drugs are having on the local community than the quality of food here. Definitely a local staple, the Hanoi chicken curry goes especially hard.

The food is good and the staff are friendly and helpful . However the ordering system is difficult because it’s online . Without menus you have no idea what you are ordering because the are no descriptions of the food . If you want a cocktail it’s worse because not only are there no descriptions but the staff had no idea what was in them . They lost a huge amount of money from us because we wanted cocktails but couldn’t order them . But for a quick bite to eat it’s good

Amazing food and great service. This place is always busy even in lockdown. Portion sizes are more than adequate. Highly recommend anything on the menu, the bao buns and corn fritter salad is amazing.

I have ordered from Miss Chu many many times before. This was the first time I went there to dine in. It was a great experience because we discovered their awesome lychee iced tea and enjoyed the vibe. The food was great as usual and I really liked the venue's interior design. Staff was friendly and helpful. I'd recommend it to everyone.

This is another place we run to for a delivery of healthy binge. We always do their healthy bowls which are a complete meal in itself, and super delicious (other than the Vietnamese Curry) and very filling. They are absolutely generous with the meat portions they serve in this bowl and that's pleasant.

Vietnamese Curry was a disappointment as the curry is runny (water-like) and flavorless (even when it had elements such as lemongrass and basil). But that hasn't discouraged us to rate it a full 5 for the sheer flavor, quantity and value for money...Even though it's on an expensive side.

Ah the simple things in life. How complicated some catering small businesses make them. But...NOT THIS PLACE. Got their food via UberEats and the Salmon, Chinese Spinach and Red Rice & Quinoa were all super fresh, tasty and perfectly prepared. Simple, but it's amazing how many other places get this sort of basic health stuff completely wrong!

Misschu is a firm fave in our household. They have so many fantastic dishes to choose from. We’ve tried a little bit of everything over the years and you can’t go wrong with anything to be honest. Highlights for us are the duck and pickled carrot rice paper rolls, the mini banh mi’s and any of their crispy slaw salads. Yum yum yum!

This place is somewhat of an institution. It's been around for ages, and has withstood the test of time thanks to its cheap(ish), reliable food. I moved out of the area for three years and moved back last year, and the beef vermicelli salad was exactly the same as I remembered. I've had the mushroom quinoa dish a couple of times now, and it really needs a little more sauce. It's a pretty generous serving of food, so needs a bit more of the good stuff to make it less bland. The mango sago is divine. So good, in fact, that it inspired me to make my own. No doubt this place has plenty of life left in it if the consistently packed tables are anything to go by.

Ordered the prawn and crab spring rolls vermicelli, kids chicken and vermicelli meal and also the beef pho noodle soup. The pho broth is different to the traditional flavour and was quite sweet in contrast. The prawn and crab spring rolls are nice but not enough fish sauce to the vermicelli so was a bit plain in flavour.

On the other hand, the kids meal - the chicken was actually very salty. I have no idea why it's called a kids meal if it's made with so much seasoning.

I looked forward to going to Miss Chu, as I heard a great deal about it. Yes, it was nice but nothing impressive to be honest. I enjoyed the steamed dumplings and the spring rolls the most. I did not enjoy the warm vermicelli salad that much. It was quite bland and quite cold.
Service was ok. Overall it was nice but I was expecting more

Sometimes I feel like life is a soup and I’m a fork 🍴
.
.
Vegetable dumpling noodle soup 🍜 (Pho)
This soup is basically a noodle soup which has loads of veggies and dumplings filling of carrots ginger. I totally loved the soup it’s makes you full and there won’t be any requirement for dinner. Very affordable price. Food is very delicious. Looking forward to eat more front here.
Where - miss chu south yara, Melbourne (they have other outlets as well in south melbourne central and cbd)
Taste - 4/5
Ambience - very cozy and cute

Ordered through Door Dash, was notified the restaurant had cancelled my order after half an hour. Received no communication from the restaurant itself with any reason why the order was cancelled. Pretty inconvenient and wasted my time.

The Chicken curry with Rice and the Salmon + Rice are ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Both are options I have had MANY times for lunch. They are moist , and saucy everything you want for a moreish chicken/fish dish.
the menu is fun, you tick what you want and give the slip to the waiter.
The calamari for the starter is a fantastic option because it is light but hot and tasty with the cooling aioli.

The Vietnamese rice paper rolls and dumplings are expensive but tasty .... get in quick because they sell out everyday. Especially the duck roll.
Lovely interior with tuckshop vibes from Asia - fits perfect with the theme.

😱Lizzie’s first impression: only ever had takeaway from here and they serve the best Vietnamese salad.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: my go to dish is the Viet salad with beef - it tastes amazing with the fish sauce. I also love their style of spring rolls as they are so crispy and full of flavour.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: would need to go into their restaurant to judge its ambience but packaging of their takeaway is great.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: love this place for their viet food and want to go back to try!
Gerd
Crispy chilli squid is without doubt the best I’ve ever had. Just come for this. The prawn rice paper rolls were full of vermicelli noodles but bugger all prawn. The turmeric chicken rice paper rolls were better. The beef with quinoa and rice was good...but the crispy chilli squid is BEST!!
JoKar
Staff were polite and food came out quick. I ordered the vermicelli dish: overall taste was good, only thing was that the sauce was a tad too much. Overall good tasting and healthy meal. Will go back.

There are days when you want to eat light. What better than a crisp slaw salad with some crunchy pickled cabbage and flavourful lemongrass beef.

Tumeric chicken is such a classic vietnamese combination and they do a fab job of elevating that combination in this salad. The sauce is the key to the acidity and juicy texture of the salad.

I had heard and seen many posts raving about Misschu and after being a longtime neighbour finally decided to give it a try after being impressed by how well and ('health conscious') the menu read.

I came to Misschu with one agenda and that was to try the pho. It was a weekday lunchtime and the cozy restaurant (with lovely interiors - half 'Melb hipster' half authentic hawker) started to fill up with single patrons (such as myself) when peak lunch hour hit. I ordered a pho with the low carb noodles (this was at an extra cost) but I liked having the option there.

I didn't have to wait too long before my pho arrived. Although I was delighted and quite excited by the menu and the reviews I had read, I was disappointed at the flavour profile of the pho. It wasn't the noodles at all (quite the opposite) but there was no depth of flavour and I found it was quite bland tasting. Given the price was slightly higher than other competing restauranteurs of the same kind, I was left disgruntled.

I'd come back and give this place another go or would come back and try another menu item but the $20+ pho left a big sting in my pocket. I hope a new visit and updated review will be more positive.

It’s been a few years since my last experience at Miss Chu South Yarra. My opinion of the chain hasn’t changed too much. It’s hip, modern Vietnamese that’s polished and with a price tag to match. My new work team (so exciting!) headed over to the Toorak Road branch. Miss Chu is an easy choice for many people: there’s lot of options, lots of those options are healthy (ish) and it has a cool vibe.

Stopped here for a solo lunch after work and was pretty pleased with the selection on the menu. I had the rice vermicelli with pork and crab spring rolls. They were delicious. The dressing also very nice- with the addition of ground toasted rice, the dish was rich in flavour and well balanced with depth coming from the roasted rice. I’ve had many rice vermicelli salad bowls that are either bland, too fish saucy or sweet. However the choice of greens slightly confused me. I’m not used to seeing mixed salad leaves in a viet bun. I guess it’s an effort to be unique or different. I did enjoy the herbs among it though. I look forward to sampling more from the menu
Belle
Great atmosphere but avoid getting the rice paper rolls unless you just want noodles in a paper roll with hardly any meat/other filling. The first ingrediant in a menu should be the dominant one, not the sprinkles. Disappointing food.
Freeo
My favourite Vietnamese take away place without a doubt and always my uber eats choice for healthy fresh food so much so I ordered it 4 times in one week.

Favourites are the turmeric chicken slaw salad or the beef and red rice with Asian greens. I also love the mango and prawn rice paper rolls and the prawn and ginger dumplings yum.

Food is always fresh, delicious and on point

Always Hungry
Just as good as always! I've lost count of how many times I've been to misschu and it never disappoints. Winners are the vermicelli salads (in the pictures are the mushroom and chicken ones), dumplings, rice paper rolls and they also have a few nice desserts.
Staff are always nice, service is fast and the atmosphere is always fun and buzzing.
Karina J
Cozy space with delicious and authentic Vietnamese food. We ordered the chicken rice paper rolls, crab and prawn fried rolls, Peking duck pancakes, lemon grass beef salad and wok fried greens. All dishes were fresh and had authentic and strong Vietnamese flavours.
Caroline Beaney
Highly impressed by Misschu. I never would have thought to try it however my workplace chose it as our lunch on Friday. Love the beef noddle salad and the spring rolls. Spicy sauce is divine. To experience a spicy dish use two mini containers of the sauce! The vegetarian rice paper roll was not so nice. Very plain.

Misschu is awesome! The restaurant is funky and feels like you are actually in Vietnam due to the cool decor. The ingredients are super fresh and absolutely every dish was delicious.
The food came out really quickly and the prices were decent. I really enjoyed this place and will definitely be back!

I got home delivery from Misschu. I’ve heard a lot about this place and the hype lived up to its name.

My partner ordered the dishes so I don’t know the names but I had a chicken. curry dish which excellent and my partner a vegetarian noodle dish.

My curry was full of flavour, the vegetables were marinated in the curry and the chicken was soooo tender was prepared before it was added to the curry. It was amazing, in fact this curry dish was probably one of the best t/a dishes that I’ve eaten.

My partner was equally impressed w the vegetarian noodles and I tried the broth which was excellent.

I am so impressed that I’m going to this south yarra branch to eat in house as I’m sure the food w be better.

Definitely worth a visit!

VeganeatsM Aman Saraf

Good food as started.
Come here to catch up with friend of mine.
We ordered prawn and scollops dumpling as started.
Nice, plum and juicy!
Hand roll tiger prawns and green mango also do the justice, beautifully done!
To wash down, I ordered 333 beer, authentic Vietnamese beer to compliment this Vietnamese Street style food.
Prawn and crab net spring roll was crunchy and delicate.
It’s so addictive, trust me. 😉
Lemon grass vermicelli salad, served with sort of Vietnamese slaw, raw and fresh, and the dressing giving a good tangy sweet flavour to tied up the dish.
Squid battered was crunchy and light on our crispy chilli squid dish.
Served with chopped fresh chilli.
Been going here for years, over the last year the food is never consistent. Last night same, no turmeric, on the turmeric chicken, dishes were thrown together, you could see from the food that the kitchen was under the pump. An hour's wait for 2, substandard, dishes was crazy. Others seated after us got their food first. If a place is going to provide for UberEats (constantly about 8-bags waiting for pick up) they need to have the staff to cope. I could, and will next time, drive the short distance to Hanoi Hanna for the same food, better quality and cheaper. Bye MissChu!!!!!
Keith
Friend ordered same dessert and got one twice the size of mine. Otherwise the food was tasty, though definitely on the pricey side for the serving sizes. You'll probably need to order more than you initially thought.

We turned up on a cold and windy Saturday night and managed to get a table inside out of the draught. Menu on the table and you fill it in with a pencil and give it to the waiter. Nice bar at the back of the restaurant- or tuck shop as they call it. We had a glass of sparkling wine to begin with then ordered some greens with friend shallots. Next we had some prawn and ginger dumplings , a steamed pork bun and vermicelli salad with fried seafood rolls. We then ordered a rice and quinoa base with teriyaki- one salmon one chicken. A couple more drinks and we were satisfied. Quick friendly service and the meals were well priced. Good place if you are after a quick feed.

Every time we have ordered from Miss Chu, the service has been exceptional. The food is consistently delicious and great price. The popcorn chicken is a favourite! All the MissChu’s are good but the South Yarra outlet has always been incredible. We recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

Come here for the Lemongrass Beef Vermicelli. Order it every single time. It is one of my all time favourite dished in Melbourne entirely. Divine is an understatement. So lemongrassy. So much clean, tasty flavour with a little cheeky leaf for that feel that you're doing something right. The dumplings are passable, and every phö and soup is, to me, a very disappointing asian experience, but the salads are truly impressive.
Jamie
Ordered dinner through UberEats and was impressed with the quality of the food and portion sizes from here. My partner and I felt like something on the lighter side as we’d had a big lunch, which lead us to looking up and stumbling upon misschu.
We ordered the turmeric chicken vermicelli salad, prawn and green mango rice rolls, roast duck and mushroom noodle soup, and the braised beef frisket mini banh mi. We were especially blown away by the flavour of the vermicelli salad - the chicken was juicy, flavourful and succulent, all the ingredients were fresh, and the sauce was tasty and really brought the dish together. The rice rolls and banh mi were also fresh and delicious. The green mango gave the rice roll a citrus-y lime-like flavour which was unexpected and a nice surprise; complementing the prawns and dipping sauce nicely. The beef brisket in the banh mi was tender and juicy, the buns were soft, and the sauce really topped it off. The only thing I did not really enjoy was the duck and mushroom noodle soup; though the duck was beautifully cooked the flavor of the broth was simply not what I had expected, so this just came down to my personal preference.
After this experience I would love to visit the restaurant, and definitely happily order from here again!

Miss Chu 100% full marks, Uber eats fail
I ordered my meal for delivery through Uber eats, as I was unwell and bed bound. Uber delivery guy got lost, I tried calling him, he didn’t answer, didn’t deliver and canceled my order.
I called Miss Chu (I think it was Mark I spoke to). He said words to the effect.. “bummer your order didn’t make it, it happens sometimes with Uber, it certainly left here.. if you’d like to re place the order with me I’ll make sure we rush it through”.
I tried to contact Uber to ensure I wasn’t charged. No go.
I called Mark at Miss Chu again, he whipped the order through in no time and because he knew I was unwell and in bed he asked one of the kitchen staff to hand deliver to my door!
(FYI.. Miss Chu do not deliver!!)
That is what’s referred to, in old school speak.. going the extra mile.
Thank you Miss Chu. Thank you Mark, you’re a legend!!

I loved my experience at the South Yarra misschu, with delicious vegan options, and a great ambience and service. I found the CBD misschu disappointing, with poor service, a lack of ambience, use of disposable cups for dine-in customers (ridiculous waste!) and dishes identical to the ones ordered at South Yarra were cold, overly sweet and bland. I would return to the South Yarra branch, but not not the one in the CBD.
Split The Bill
Very tasty dishes especially the prawn dumplings and vegan salad. Super friendly and accomodating staff, cool and exotic interior design. Food is served quickly.
Annika
Love the food here. Always super fresh and delicious. Tables are tight, it’s not a place you go to sit and relax and enjoy a long dinner but perfect for a quick bite or take away.
VeganeatsM
This would probably have to be one of my favourite restaurants. I’ve been to the one on Exhibition street and now South Yarra. Love the tasty vegan options.
Food Coma Survivor
First of all, the service is questionable. They were nice about it, but the way they served food wasn't right. They shoved the food on your table, and left right away, in a hurry. My friend had a bowl of pho and she just dumped it in the middle of the table and left. It was awkward.
We ordered the ginger and prawn dumplings which were great, the salmon and XO sauce vermicelli, the mushroom soup noodles, and the chicken curry. I would call the style of food- western Asian. They use Asian ingredients and try to reinvent Asian food in a western style. The dishes were alright, the mushroom soup wasn't great and the chicken curry with noodles were odd. I would not go back for authentic Asian food, but it's a fun place for a desperate snack. The ambience was fun and cool, and the green tiled tables served a great backdrop for photos.
Bridget
Good food and reasonably priced. Need to improve on time waiting for take away orders- consistently slow even when ordered online for pick up

Great food at really reasonable prices. At misschu’s you can be well fed for a very low cost while still maintaining the vibe of a groovy restaurant. We came here to satisfy by craving for Vietnamese food and got exactly what we were looking for, filling rice paper rolls and vegetable buns, along with modern rice and noodle dishes that are sure to please everyone. The menu is extensive with plenty of vegan and vego options making it the perfect place to come along with a group big or small. I will definitely come back to misschu’s again and suggest you check it out too!
Olivia Nicole
Did you know you could salmonella on the menu here? The staff seem to think it’s raw chicken is a choice. They were the absolute worst when I complained. Mmhmm I love me some salmonella!
Ray
Great restaurant that’s great value for money.
Been here twice many of the dishes were delicious. Favourites of mine were the fried chicken banh mi, popcorn chicken, chilli squid, dumplings and desserts. The duck pancakes weren’t worth the price and didn’t taste great, the lemongrass beef rice bowl either wasn’t the best. The food came really fast but the wait for water was long.
Melbourne Epicure
Great little "modern" Vietnamese place. I love their vermicelli noodles salad with lemongrass beef. Other really nice items on their menu also… The venue is much nicer than their CBD one as it is a bit more spacious. Food is just as good.
Foodie
Their tuna sashimi roll is the best. Taste is always consistent and it is very different from the traditional roll. Definitely going back again!

I have mixed feelings about my experience at Miss Chu.

Positives:
- Great decor: I enjoyed the creativity of the shuttlecocks and bowl lamps decorating the restaurants.
- Food came pretty quickly
- Amazing lychee martini
- Squid was soft and tender
- Prawn and crab spring roll was light and delicious
- Salmon in the salmon rice bowl was well cooked and tasted good.

Negatives:
- Staff were so rude to my dining companion! One staff member said "I have no idea" and walked off when asked if there were any dishes they recommended, and another staff member spoke really condescendingly when my dining companion asked if there were any sliders on the menu as he remembered having some at another location. The staff member said "this is a Vietnamese restaurant, we don't have sliders". When we determined that my dining companion was referring to the Mini Banh Mi, he asked if there were any that could accommodate his lactose intolerance (eg: does it contain cheese). The staff member said "There is mayo in the slaw. You can't eat it".
Was it not possible to serve the slaw on the side? Does mayo even contain milk/cheese/cream? What about a suggestion for another dish instead? Despite my dining companion being quite annoying (even to me!), this treatment from staff really bugged me.

- The duck in the Peking duck pancake was so chewy and gristly that it was impossible to take one bite of the pancake without tearing the whole piece of duck meat from the pancake, leaving you with an empty saucy crepe. Did not enjoy this at all.

- The squid was not crispy, and was quite soggy. At least the flavours were good and the squid was tender.

To be honest I am unlikely to return based purely on the customer service received.

We went for late unch on sunday. The place was quiet with few people waiting for their takeaway order. We were told that no table service for table outsides which we dont mind.
We place the orders at the counter and then after more than 15 minutes we still havent got our meals yet. We ordered the small pho and vermicelli salad. No thanks. I rather drive all the way to richmond. Poor service and average food.
NoCapsicumPlease
I’ve been here twice and the experience was slightly different. I had a bowl of “pho” for the first time and a mini “banh mi” with something I can’t remember for the second time. They all were not so flavourful, however, waiting staff was friendly. Maybe, I will come to different outlets to try again
VegoLover
Loved the vegan rice paper rolls here especially the sauce which was delicious!!
The vegan fried spring rolls were also really nice, with a thin rice noodle pastry.
The rice noodle rolls were ok, way too much bean shoots.
Place can get too noisy when the music is too loud.
Don'tMessWithMyFood
My first experience here a few years ago was bland and disappointing. This time I was pleasantly surprised
Takeaway via UberEATS on a Friday night. Vermicelli noodle salad with turmeric chicken breast was a unique marinade for this salad- but I loved it! Also steamed pork dumplings and prawn dumplings to share - thin skin dumplings (Yes!) and sauces were just right!
Will be doing takeaway again!

I popped into misschu's for an early dinner with a gf straight after work and first of all I love the self 'tick your order' style! The vegan mushroom, rice, quinoa and greens dish was super tasty and packed full of flavour. A definite easy quick and tasty winner!

Great food but the staff were rude and not very helpful.

Venue decor is very nice. Would recommend if you like self serve service.

Also great if you like spice 🌶

MissChu
Not Ice cream but sure does deserve the good review.
MissChu never fails to please with their amazing flavours.
Pictured: The satay chicken vermicelli salad, satay chicken on rice, Hanoi styled spring rolls, Vegetable dumplings, mint and pineapple Drink.
Great service, amazing vibes.
Really cute place however it loses the chilled vibes when it's extremely busy.
And no split bills://
But other than that, amazing.
Thanks!

So....various foods with the menu. Very good quality and tasty, authentic Vietnamese food. Who knew??? Middle of south Yarra. If this is what Vietnamese street food is like, I'm in. I need to go to sleep now. 😎

Not authentic Viet food. Food is average and slightly overpriced. There's always better noodles in Richmond. I guess for those looking for a hip area to hangout, this probably makes the cut but it does get rather noisy

Went in on a Sat night, it was packed and they had just one high table with the stools. After a while we asked if they could shift us to a regular table because I have a bad back and was starting to hurt without a back rest on my seat. They had nothing available but the waiter actually made sure he moved us to a more comfortable table as soon as the people sitting on them left. Usually waiters say they'll move you and then forget all about it. This guy was an exception and it really made a difference to me. Food was really quite delicious too, we just had all the dumplings and all the steamed buns, haha.
Foodlovermelbs
Loved the ambiance on a Saturday night. The food was decent with the calamari being the standout. The spring roll vermicelli salad was average and the duck pancake lacked flavour. Overall a nice place to catch up but don't expect an authentic Vietnamese flare.
XiaoHui Teo
Love the ambience of this casual hawker style restaurant. Food are fresh and nice however I still prefer the authentic traditional Vietnamese food in Footscray.
George Williams
Great service. Not a huge selection of GF dishes especially after changing the menu. Vermicelli bowls are nice but lots of things always seem a bit oily. Would go again for quick easy food
We ended up here accidentally today for lunch as were to go to the Thai restaurant next door but it was closed, so glad it was. Food was superb in fact we almost couldn't fault it. The turmeric chicken rice paper rolls were the best we've ever had and that includes our travels in Vietnam, so fresh with amazing flavours. Lemongrass beef vermicelli also had great flavours, popcorn chicken was melt in the mouth and loved the mayo it came with. Spring rolls were the only thing we thought lacked a little flavour and would have been nice if they came served longer so you could wrap them in the lettuce. Fantastic dining experience, excellent service and was extremely busy for a Monday and had a great vibe, can't wait to return
@twogoodtoresist
Miss Chu has gone so downhill over the last year it’s so disappointing because we really used to love it. Not only has the service become quite arrogant but prices seem to have sky rocketed and portions drastically decreased. We used to love the salmon bowl with greens and wild rice but it’s now 4 pieces of small salmon and a huge amount of flavourless rice. Such a shame!
Jerry Spring
Every time I get delivery my food is cold! Most of the food is way to sweet and over priced! When dinning in the restaurant it's loving but definitely not a meal worth ordering take away
Janae
I always order the satay chicken and cucumber rice paper rolls whenever I come here. It has well seasoned chicken and the cucumber gives it a great texture. With the peanut sauce that comes with it, I always look forward to when I can eat it again. Can't say the same for the beef pho though. Mine was lacking in flavour and was a far cry from the flavours that can be found in Vietnamese restaurants in Springvale. The mood is casual and the decor is cute. The service is good, being prompt and friendly each time I've been. A nice little place to stop by when looking for a quick meal with friends.

We went there last night, we started our dinner with the main meal and finished it with our appetizers... it was strange but food was good and our waitress friendly. The girl at the til was just awful and made my experience at Miss Chu bad. I don't like paying my bill with someone that is rude, doesn't smile and doesn't even look at people when talking. I know hospitality is not an easy job but that doesn't mean you gotta be rude when a customer is polite to you.

It's my second visit here. We ordered Atlantic Salmon with XO Sauce and Lemongrass Beef. The salmon was pretty average. In fact, one of the fish was a undercooked but it was fine — i like sashimi so 🤷🏻‍♀️. I enjoyed the food in my first visit more, however. We ordered beef pho, green papaya salad, scallop & prawn dumplings, BBQ pork bun, peking duck pancakes, and pork steamed rice crepes. I recommend all of them but the green papaya salad. The lemongrass beef with vermicelli noodles is my personal favorite. Other than the food, I've always liked the service here, friendly and fast staff.
DuckieLovesToEat
Walking around Toorak looking for somewhere to eat, I stumbled upon this place. I have seen this place before and since I couldn't decide what to eat for dinner. I made the decision to try it once and for all. I was warmly welcomed by the staff in front and showed me my table. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee and the seared Atlantic salmon. I envisioned the salmon differently when it came out as I assumed it was seared but rather the texture I had was when you put the salmon in the oven and over cooked it. It was dry unfortunately. The tasty was alright, I did enjoy the different variety of rice. The coffee was also on the sweet side, I guess it was my mistake and didn't ask for less sugar.
Spudsburgeradventures
Small venue that pumps out some great Vietnamese food, and is always busy. Reminiscent of eating street food in the alleyways of Vietnam, the menu caters for those wanting a small bite or something larger. Favorites include the tuna rice paper rolls, spring rolls, and any of the various salads and soups, all winners. Standard pricing for this type of food and quality, and the service is great too.

I've been here multiple times, both dine in and delivered. It's really good, the food has awesome flavor and the portion sizes are very generous.

The store is a little small and cramped at times, but it really feels like an authentic experience. Love it! Satay Chicken is 👌
World In A Bite
Food 0: disappointing :( ... no flavour at all ... no beef taste for pho broth ... the salad was warm :( ... the CBD branch is the best misschu ... hopefully still good

Atmosphere & decor 1.5: cute decors - great for catch up with friends!

Service 1: average

Always fast, loud and full of atmosphere. The Miss Chu store in South Yarra shares pretty much the same as the other franchise locations and their net spring rolls and Pho are always reliable.

Recently I've been ordering via Deliveroo and the food is on my doorstep within about 25 minutes! Practically unheard of for this area.

Miss Chu is modern Vietnamese, a far cry from the traditional spots along Vic Street but still with great atmosphere and something on the menu for everyone. Give it a crack!
Greent
I've been back to misschu a couple of times, trying to understand what the fuss is all about. I want to like it, but just find it overrated and over priced. The vermicelli salad and rice paper rolls are average at best, and the spring rolls are teeny-tiny, with minimal filling. On the bright side they are at least crispy. There is much better Vietnamese to be found for half the price elsewhere.
Mattmaxjames92
Service was good, felt like a happy and relaxing environment.
The food was yum!
One thing I disliked was when ordering out mains if we chose rice and greens, there is far to much rice and not enough chicken/fish
And once you get to just having rice left there is no sauce left to give the rice some flavour. 4/5

Vegetarian dumplings, beef pho, satay chicken skewers, BBQ pork buns... Just some of the menu items that have been on the table in my few visits to Miss Chu south yarra. Can't say I have been impressed, the environment was unpleasant with loud talking and the music very loud. Seems like its for Sydney Siders. Like the Sriracha on the table, a nice touch as most restaurants do not have this out for diners to use as they please. The food itself was of average quality, I think you could get better at pretty much any equivalent Vietnamese Restaurant for cheaper and superior quality (not to mention you would avoid the somewhat pretentious environment here).

I've been to missChu a couple of times now. Always seems to be busy and very popular at lunchtime on a weekday.

The menu is vast and there are a lot of things on it I still want to try! So far, I've had the Hanoi Chicken Curry which was great, and the Pork and Prawn Hanoi Warm Vermicelli Noodle Spring Roll Salad (what a mouthful - no pun intended). I still question if the rolls had pork or prawns in them but was otherwise very tasty and standard for a vermicelli salad.

The layout of the venue is great and the ordering system is fun.

The issue i have with missChu is that they cannot guarantee your dish will be nut free. With other places, even if they use nuts in their food they are able to produce food which doesn't contain traces, but here they claim all the food has traces (which isn't true - I haven't had a reaction, but it is disconcerting to be told that). Given that my allergy is only minor, I don't mind giving it a shot but for people with serious nut allergies, it would probably be best to give the place a miss.

Loved this place! very cute interior. Had a lovely waitress who was very attentive. They basically have a 'test' menu. where they get you to mark a number on a sheet next to the dishes you want. idea is a win. went for a bout half a dozen things. and so hard to choose! I had the BBQ Pork Buns, Omelette, Avocado & Caramelised Onion Rice Paper rolls, Scallop & prawn Dumpling and Prawn & Crab crispy Vermicelli Pastry Net. Umm. Everything was amazing. can't fault it. Food came out in record time, and so fresh. Absolutely have to go back and try a few others!

Vermicelli salads are delicious as well as the dumplings and pork buns. However the customer service is very average and take away takes AGES. Was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes and I had to wait for an extra 45minutes. Not good enough.

Just off Chapel Street and down the quieter end of Toorak Road. The queen of rice paper rolls. This place always has fun music, cheerful staff and quirky menus and atmosphere. Good for takeaway or a quick bite to eat for lunch.

Swung by for dinner and had the vegetarian vermicelli option with the mushrooms. I'm not a vegetarian but it was a nice alternative from meat. There was a good amount of mushrooms (sad there was barely any onion - as my friend ordered this previously and theirs had been dominated by onion) but I was full by the serving portion. The sauce was slightly plain but after adding siracha it was heaps better. My friend tried the vermicelli with salmon which she said was flavoursome and it looked so good. We also had dessert which was a huge disappointment for me. I tried the coconut sago which was surprisingly really salty for a dessert. The sweetness came from the mango couli but it just wasn't enough to balance the amount of sago. I liked the coconut shards but it would have tasted sweeter, more refreshing and balanced if there was actually mango pieces. I think this menu item definitely could use some upgrading because there's a lot of other coconut sago desserts that are much nicer. The saltiness was overbearing. Also service was friendly when we did speak to staff but not attentive. We were seated at the very back so it was difficult getting their attention. We only got our water filled once the entire time. I'd much prefer it if we could have gotten a bottle on our table instead. There was a waiter walking around filling people's water cups but he must have just forgotten about us. Based on this experience the vermicelli was yum but it didn't really make up for everything else. Next time with better menu decisions and seating choice I'll hopefully have a better dining exp.

I've ordered from here every week for the last 4 weeks. The food is always prepared quickly whilst retaining quality, the prices are reasonable and portion sizes are good. The mushroom and tofu rice paper rolls are out of this world good! Great for vegetarians. Vietnamese cuisine is usually really light and healthy and this place is great at doing it in a timely and authentic manner. Check it out!

Amazing Vietnamese. This place runs like a train; and for good reason. Prices are incredible and food is even better. So fresh and clean. Left feeling very satisfied but not at all heavy or bloated. Great vego options too. Absolutely delicious

I am waiting for my order which is a bowl of brown rice for over an hour... on a Wednesday night from 7:40 to 8:40...efficient business. Miss Chu used to be good, I am not sure what has happened.
Kate
There are dozens of places at a similar price point around south Yarra I'd go before I'd come back here. The food isn't that fresh tasting (the rice paper rolls are always dried out) and that's the whole joy of Vietnamese. The curry is ok but most could make something comparable at home. The salads are underdressed and 80% vermicelli noodles, which makes a pretty sad meal. The combinations in the rolls are confusing and just not very pleasant to eat. There's just no love.

Just ordered on uber eats they forgot half my order then I got abused from the uber driver then I tasted my salmon noodle and it was burnt and over salted. Never again
I called to tell the shop and they hung up on me saying there is nothing they can do not cool
Way better Viet around like Hannah Hanoi Mopho canteen. Or Saigon rose for true Viet not this rubbish
Justine
I order the satay chicken on wild rice on the regular and have never been disappointed. So tasty! The spring rolls are really nice as well. Don't order at lunch unless you're willing to wait a long time. The South Yarra location seems to be very popular and extremely busy during lunch rush!
David Food Leasing
DO: The salmon vermicelli salad, the spring rolls and the traditional banh mi (pork roll).

DON'T: Order thr dumplings, save room for other Vietnamese specialities. Dumplings are Chinese :)

TIP: Gets busy, but they do do deliveries - great if you work/live in the area or a lazy slob like me.

Nice Vietnamese food here. We enjoyed our lunch here in a quiet afternoon. Service was friendly and all the food we had were delicious. Drinks were so so though... special decoration, especially the glass ceiling.
Quinn
They did a good job to create fusion Vietnamese dishes. But I'm not a fan of it. There's nothing close to Vietnamese food honestly. The long dumplings should have had the fish sauce separately since there are some people (like me) can't eat fish sauce. I have lunch here once and it was kinda quiet. I'm surprised that they are packed in dinner. However, I love their concept and the branding design is on point. Nice and quick service. I might not come back since there are still better options,.

I believe that the main reason we liked the place is the young and fun atmosphere. While many reviews claim the the serving proportions are small, this is the reason I liked this place. You can taste various flavors, have some drinks and spend your time there. Of course you can get cheaper for more in the not so far Victoria Rd. but won't get the same vibe as here.
Food is good, not great but very unique and overall worth a shot.

The food here is so delicious I've never really been a fan of steamed buns before today. The beef brisket bánh mi is amazing and the staff were incredibly attentive and quick to bring out our order.

Good food but pathetic service. The wait staff took orders very soon after we got a table after bit of a wait. And the food came in at an OK pace. But after that they wouldn't care if you need anything else. Once the order is received forget any more service. The servers spoke politely but were not to be seen after taking orders. It took like 10 minutes to get someone to get us water. When I asked the guy behind the counter for water, who was just standing doing nothing, he asked me to call the server on the floor, who was no where to be seen. Food was good but the service disappointed us. Least likely to go back, at least to their South Yarra restaurant. Seems they have become popular enough to care about service anymore.
FOOD TRIP
Authentic and super cute little Vietnamese inspired eatery with lots of choice in seating. Food was average and overpriced. Wouldn’t recommend. Cute idea using these as water cups. Vietnamese Iced Coffee $3.50. A bit bitter and not very creamy. Wouldn’t recommend. 2/10. Mini Vietnamese Baguette $4.50

Vegetarian Pho Noodle Soup = tasteless, tasteless, tasteless (over cooked rice noodles, soup broth was plain and tasted like boiling water from the kettle)

The staff were really friendly and attentive, cute fit out, it's just such a shame the salad I had was quite possibly the worst Vietnamese food I've ever eaten. I have honestly never walked out of a restaurant without finishing my food until today. I ordered the very over priced warm Vermicelli Salad with spring rolls. I never mind paying a higher price for a good meal, however this was neither good nor tasty, the salad lacked any taste just a bowl full of lettuce and noodles, the fish sauce could hardly be tasted and the spring rolls were tasteless. I left feeling unwell and have been at home sick since. I would not reccomend this resturant to anyone.

Very good ambience - very funky atmosphere and staff were very accomodat.
Had to wait for a bit to be hosted but the speed of the service was good and was looked after very well.
The manager ( the girl in the service area - i think) was making sure that everyone was happy.
Would definitely do this again and recommend for a try if you haven't.
Compared to other really good Vietnamese restaurants around in the area it could be a bit pricy for some- I felt it had a modern take on Vietnamese cuisine so didn't mind it.
Confessions Of A Foodie
A very cute Vietnamese close to the chapel st precinct. I absolutely loved the interior and for me, a good atmosphere and pretty walls can sometimes make a place. Unfortunately, our table and cups were somewhat sticky, like they hadn't been cleaned properly.
In terms of food, they are fairly authentic. Their pork and prawn spring rolls were delicious, maybe a little on the oily side, but a must-try, especially as their sauce was amazing! In my opinion, it's a little small for the price you pay, but still affordable. Their rice paper rolls are some of my favourite in Melbourne- I loved the duck ones. Also, their desert Spring rolls with coconut ice cream are so good! Their drinks are average and I wouldn't say the warm vermicelli bowls were particularly impressive either, but I generally have a good experience at miss Chu.

The food is great but is it a technology or people problem?

Picture this - you order your food online, it then tells you that it's going to be 75 mins.

You then call to say you'll pick up, but the guy can't find your order even with the order number. After several minutes, we find it. We then go to pick up said order but he can't find it. Wait about 15 mins to be told 'we've found your order, it's going to be 10 mins'. Fail.

Sometimes having too much business can almost be as bad as not having enough.

Was really busy at lunch time, ordered take away, waited 20minutes, got back to office which is 4minutes away, food was cold and they had forgotten sauce. Not good enough for $15

I love Miss Chu but I do think its a bit of rip off. The food is flavoursome and fresh but some of the serving sizes are a bit on the small size for the price. The rice paper rolls are delicious but they are too expensive for what they are. The dumplings are also over-priced. Its definitely better than your average Vietnamese and the atmosphere is good. Would recommend it but be prepared to pay a bit more than usual.

We love all of the food here! The concept of small share plates means getting a taste of a large portion of the menu - which is how we like to dine! We always head to Miss Chu if we're looking for healthy, quick eats!! The curries are so perfectly flavoured and the spring rolls are also so yum!!
JackJ
Not a bad option for takeaway and they also do catering. A healthy choice, but it's really expensive for what is very simple Vietnamese food.
I Like Food And Games
Nice but nothing special, relatively heathy takeaway/delivered food.

TASTE - reasonable, duck rice paper rolls are novel but nothing special, felt like they lacked something flavour wise. A little bottle of sauce is included which is good as they tasted very plain without the sauce

VALUE - bowls are decent. Rice paper rolls feel a bit on the expensive side. Fairly small for the price

WOULD I GO BACK - maybe for the bowls but not for the rice paper rolls. I won't as I find their slogan offensive but even if I didn't probably not, too many other better tasting and better value options available
Sam
This little place is popular always, has atmosphere in its decor and is fun! If you order takeaway for lunch or dinner you get the cute paper bags full of your goodies. The menu has something for everyone with cold rolls, duck pancakes, salads, curry with red rice, salmon, a few dishes to please vegetarians with a medley of mushrooms with red rice and many other options. I only wish the menu was longer but there is enough on the me u to impress. Good condiment sauces top of the tasty food. We've eaten here many time and highlights are the desserts of the chocolate and banana spring rolls and the Sago and Mango dessert. Nice offering of alcoholic drinks on the menu too.

Great Asian street food with a quirky dining atmosphere. This was a regular for us with their home delivery option but there are just so many to choose from these days 👍

Average at best. Anyone who has been to Vietnam will agree with me in saying this is anything but Vietnamese food. The cafe sua da tasted like it had milk rather than condensed milk and the chicken curry was more like an Indian dish than vietnamese. Not to mention the fried chicken. Horrible. This place takes "australianised" Vietnamese food to a whole new level.

I really liked Miss Chu, it has a bustling atmosphere and the staff are attentive, but casual.
We shared so many dishes throughout the night, the special that day. A pork sausage on a skewer served with lettuce cups and Asian herbs YUM..!! I also tried the papaya salad, it was a little different to your traditional green papaya salad as the dressing has coconut milk or cream in it. It wAs different, I like different.
Their cocktails came served in little plastic cups, amusing, but fresh and tasty with young ginger blended in the mix.
Too busy eating salad to take photos, next time folks 😉
Phil
This place is far from Vietnamese style food, it's a mixture of the chefs nationality that accounts for the food they serve. If you never been to Vietnam or eaten in true Vietnamese food places then you will enjoy what's served.
Prahran has far better to offer so take the time to walk south and enjoy true food and not a mixer of the cook of the day.
The ice coffee is an insult and the mini rolls are from another planet.
Not recommended

Me and my girlfriend were both very excited to visit Miss Chu's but we both left bitterly disappointed. Our main issue was the customer service which left a lot to be desired, the staff seemed focused on getting you in and out as quickly as possible. We were served by a blonde manager who was very unwelcoming and abrupt. Judging from other reviews we are not the only people to have experienced bad customer service from her. The food was very average considering the portion size and price. I had the pho which was okay but no reason to return.

My wife and I are regulars to Miss Chu's. We find that it is often a very appealing option to wander down and get a hassle free seating. The menu has a great variety of Asian inspired(I think a lot is Vietnamese?) modern styled dishes, ranging from indulgent to many healthy choices it really has you covered. We love the style of service where you enter your order on a little menu card and hand it over to the waitperson. The food is all quite light and tasty, most of it is pretty good value too. Majority of the time the food is pretty great really, some of the dishes are little meh but for the most part we always enjoy our meal and feel happy we came. The restaurant has a funky vibe and is an interesting fitout that is entertaining to dine in. It is quite often busy here, but not obnoxiously so.

I recommend the tuna tartare with seaweed salad and the rice/quinoa dishes are all quite good. Probably the only item I felt were lacking were some of the bao, but I often find that is the case at many restaurants. We will definitely continue to return regularly.

Ordered food from here, the baguette was so sweet and just awful I had to take everything out and just eat the bread because I was so starving. If you like Vietnamese food don't eat here the food is gross
Justin Valkoff
I eat pho noodle soup at many different venues particularly Victoria street where traditional Vietnamese is found.. The beef and oxtail pho soup that I just ate was the most disgusting, sweet and horrible pho I've ever eaten. WAY TO MUCH hoisin was stuffed in the soup due to the obvious lack of flavour. I ordered take away and no chilli sauce was supplied, they forgot to add a bloody spoon, and as I ate it in the park on my lunch break I had to use a spork from a deli nearby😒

The noodles were so over cooked and I unenjoyable. I have never not had something nice to say about a dish... So this is the first time:/ thanks guys

Love love love love LOVE miss chu. Cannot get enough! Amazing vegetarian options for my partner as well. Pretty good service (however they are always just insanely busy), and DELICIOUS food however some of the items are a tad expensive so keep that in mind!

Group of us enjoyed lunch here today... rate at 8/10 as it was all really enjoyable ...had a mixture of starters such as crunchy Vietnamese spring rolls and dumplings, then some mixed papaya and vegan salads with pork and beef buns (pork or beef on a crunchy roll with crunchy fragrant salad). All was great, see you again soon!

We order home delivery at least once a week and 9/10 times it is very very good! The salmon and quinoa is a favorite and has the tastiest sauce and is usually cooked perfectly. Sometimes it is hit and miss and the salmon is dry or there isn't enough sauce but 90% of the time it's great! This is very good for a very fast busy place.

My initial thoughts after going here just last night for the very first time was "Oh wow!" Such a cute inside where I felt like I was overseas in a small alleyway restaurant. I have walked passed before and I find there is never a quiet night here, but it's not like you can't have a convo with the people next to you. Being a first timer I order a lot of dishes to sample with my friends. Their ordering system reminds me of being back in school as its called the TuckShop order. You tick or number how many of what you want and hand it to the staff. But thankfully it didn't come out in a brown paper bag haha.
I can't even remember what I ordered but everything was so delicious and the only thing I could fault was their Vietnamese Ice Coffee. Small and no balance with a sweet element like ice cream or glucose syrup.
Am looking forward to my return to Miss Chu. I know I will miss chu for now :P
Eduardo
Friendly staff, and the dude who took our order was very knowledgeable. That's as far as it goes. The food was as dry as a cats coat.
The pho tasted like water sprinkled with dust. It was definitely the low in fat pho due to the taste being stolen and thrown down the well for safe keeping. Two tiny pieces of scared little boiled meat, no beef balls and no tripe. (Don't think they would know what tripe is) . The Vietnamese baguette, I had the beef brisket, again dry, bland and just a sorry looking piece of white bread. No sauce, just brisket, cucumber and lettuce. Even the lettuce which is 80% water couldn't save it from the craptastic flavor.

We have been to Miss Chu a few times & we love the food but the customer services lets it down. The lady manager needs to calm down & stop yelling at patrons like they are stupid! Listening to her while we are eating is not the most pleasant. I think she needs to reevaluate why she is in the hospitality industry!
Bayu Prasakti Tjandra
Nicely decorated and good atmosphere. Unfortunately the food did not live up to the expectations. The only thing that I enjoyed was their net spring rolls which are crispy and delicious.
Prageeth Silva
Very urbanised resturant atmosphere even though it's a Vietnamese resturant. However, the food in general is great. My favourite are the deep fried spring rolls and the rice paper rolls. Definitely a place to try out. Please note that, take away food is cheaper than eating in due to service charges (I guess it's not too uncommon in Melbourne though).
Leon
I have eaten at Miss Chus a few times. My first experience was awesome food was great, service was excellent and the overall vibe was nice. Since then I haven't really had another positive experience here. The only thing I really like about the place is the fit out and structure of the venue. Takeaway out front and restaurant at back.
Peanut
Staff are nice but...... the pho is bad. If you're used to having pho from springvale/footscray (hell, any regular vietnamese restaurant), this pho will be a disappointment.
Queen Of Food
Nice decor and atmosphere. The prawn and scallop dumplings were ok, needed a little more flavour. $7.60 for 3 dumplings is a little steep though - at least make it 4 dumplings so it's an even serve to share. The vegetarian fried net spring roll salad was really nice and had a nice kick to it without being overpowering. I'll go back for the spring roll salad.

At the front counter of Miss Chu we found a small and constant crowd of people for takeaway, but upon turning the corner we found a long dining area. The service and interior were both lovely. We had some cocktails, which were delicious and at a reasonable price. Our warm vermicelli salad - the salad part was disappointingly JUST vermicelli with a couple of leaves. But the crab and prawn net spring rolls we picked for the vermicelli salad were super tasty. We enjoyed our crispy chilli squid, but the steamed BBQ pork bun, tiger prawn and green mango rice paper rolls, and our banana and chocolate spring rolls for dessert were nice but pretty average. Overall we found the food vibe to be simple street food with a modern flare... the menu and food that came out was rather simple. They weren't amazing but we enjoyed our meal and had little to complain about.

Having walked past a few times before visiting there is something enticing about the entrance to Miss Chu. The model of having the takeaway at the front and the restaurant at the back doesn’t always work but in this case there is something comforting. The fitout for this Vietnamese diner uses every inch of the long and tight rectangle room. It is funky and functional. The menu doubles as an order form immediately bringing memories of places like Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong. While we are here for soup, there are just too many enticing dishes to completely focus there.

Got takeaways delivered last night. Good typical Asian food, dumplings springs rolls and noodles. All tasted quite good, not too oily or over seasoned.
Melanie
I love Miss Chu. I'm a massive Miss Chu fan. I've been here more times than I can count and everything is delicious- my favourite thing on the menu has to be the prawn and crab net springs rolls, amazing! Pho is great, salmon with xo sauce is pretty awesome, rice paper rolls, pork buns, pretty much everything...
May
Came here twice. Particularly loved the fact that you can order more variety of food that comes in smaller portions. Enjoyed the salad, rolls, vege curry, dumplings, steam baos and those delicious coconut concoction drinks! Their Pho and Banh mi were average. Can get really packed on weekends, small cozy hipster-like restaurant.

Dined here last night.. Love this quirky little Vietnamese tuck shop..
Loved the ordering process and the Vietnamese rolls were delicious and the spicy sauce amazing.
Chicken buns were also good...
Calamari whilst so tender probably a little to much batter, the sauces are amazing with kick.. And prices so reasonable definitely will be back

This rating is based on several deliveries we have had from Miss Chu over the past months. I have reserved my review hoping that the next order will redeem the disappointment of the last. Unfortunately this has not been the case.

Portions are small and pricey for what they are. We have ordered a range of items- rice paper rolls, duck pancakes, dumplings, spring rolls, pho and salads and whist it is convenient to have food delivered to your door, given the (sober) choice of picking up, I'd say head to Hanoi Hannah instead!!

Have gone to misschu multiple time and just keeps getting better ordered the crispy squid and was amazing defiantly would recommend. So affordable and such great quality food service and atmosphere

I don't often make complaints, in fact I've never made one on here before but after having come here countless times on my lunch break at work I am fed up with the service!! I'm a really big fan of Miss Chu but have been disappointed with countless experiences at the South Yarra store. On a number of occasions I've found the waitstaff (even the manager - lady with the blonde hair) to be rude and inattentive which is a shame because the food is always so great. I've been in on busy days and also extremely quiet ones and every time I am so frustrated afterwards.

It's lucky they're providing yummy, healthy food because I may as well go to Maccas for better service!!!

Love the quirky little atmosphere they have at Miss Chu. It appears that they've built the restaurant in an old laneway between two buildings, which is highly inventive. Loved the tuckshop like food ordering system, and the $14 cocktails are worth it. However, on both occasions that we've been there, our dishes have come out separately (15 minute wait between one and the other). My meal (a Hanoi vegetarian curry) I expected more variety from: it consisted solely of chopped up potato and a slice of what looked like eggplant.

TRADITIONAL FAVOURITES IN A FUNKY SETTING -- This is a modern Vietnamese place with the usual favourites: rice paper rolls, pho, dumplings, steamed buns, salads, baguettes. They drinks menu is also varied and original. Everything I have tried (the scallop and prawn steamed dumplings, the vegetarian steamed bun and the prawn fresh roll) was lovely, but nothing out of the ordinary either. Some of the more elaborate rice paper rolls were sold out when I visited, so I could not try them.

This is a very funky hypster casual restaurant, very quirky, and light filled. The place looks smaller than it is from the outside, but the seating area is large at the back. The decoration is very inventive, with lighting made using badminton balls, and the lamps are ceramic and Vietnamese bowls. They have upbeat funky music.

The staff are delightful and the service is fast.

Pricing is high for the sort of food you get, yet, this is South Yarrah and there is nothing you can do about.

Dine in or takeaway.
Paypass available.
Open long hours.

Found a DEAD FLY in my vermicelli salad!!! almost eat it too!!! Waiter's explanation was that they receive the salad from the suppliers pre-washed, so somehow its not their fault, its the supplier's fault. Errr dude, its your restaurant, i'm buying the dish from you, so the buck should stop with you, dont handball it to somebody else. They discounted my salad and apologised but still leaves a crap taste in my mouth!!!!

The original Vietnamese tuckshop, Miss Chu led the way in making Vietnamese street food widely accessible, before rice paper rolls and banh mi became takeaway staples. The hipster-ification of daggy takeout has proven to be a profitable model in this era of instant gratification (so much so that it has been adapted for the souvlaki joint, with the kebab shop soon to follow). The dine-in venue decor is a tongue-in-cheek nod to the queen of rice paper rolls’ background, complete with re-used coconut juice containers for water, shuttlecock light fixtures by the service windows and lamp shades fashioned from old-school ceramic bowls, the ones with the fish design that you can find at most Asian supermarkets (and which you’ll therefore find at my house, my grandma’s house, my aunt’s house….).

Amazing quick delicious yum cha style meal every time! Very reasonably priced and consistently good food.
The young coconut juice is delicious.

A nice quick lunch spot. It's very an "get in, get out" kinda little place. A little over priced, and nothing to brag about... But it's a nice little change of variety amongst the Italian food on Chapel. Fresh food, friendly service. Cant complain, but don't expect a quiet romantic lunch/dinner here. That is if you can squeeze your way through the front door.
MrsChapel
I love the food here and the service. The hostess nearly killed the good vibe but the rest of the staff made up for it. I prefer the one in the city but I continue to come to South yarra as its close.

So I generally refrain from writing terrible reviews, however I just had such an awful dining experience that I feel the need to warn others. Firstly, we are seated by the manager and then a waitress proceeds to spill an entire glass of water all of me. A completely full glass. Literally all down my front. Not being dramatic at all. The waitress was very apologetic (and I get that accidents happen) however the manager not so much. She asks me what happened, I told her. And then she just stared at me. No apology. No offer of a discount or any form of compensation. Just stares at me and then walks off. We then proceeded to receive all our food prior to our drinks which were forgotten about. We also had wait staff bring three different dishes to our table that they claimed we had ordered, which we didn't. Sat through the entire meal in damp clothing, so uncomfortable. Went to pay, manager is standing by the counter and we thought maybe she was now going to offer an apology / discount. Nup. Nada. Received a bill for the full amount and that was that. Needless to say I am never going back!!! Worst service EVER. The way you treat your customers is so important, and Miss Chu just doesn't get it. No wonder the business went into voluntary administration.

I came here and was so disappointed. People had been raving and obviously I missed the good things. Salmon and xo was okay. There was definitely something missing. I enjoyed the ricepaper rolls but they weren't amazing. There was just a long way to go with every dish and I was constantly disappointed by it all. Won't come back.

Best restaurante ver.. Food delicious kind staff. Good place, drinks well.

Miss Chu is a cool venue with a delicious menu. Make sure you work out how to order though! I love everything on the menu there. I just find it a bit too expensive.

Really pleasantly surprised. Great service, attitude and customer focus. Loved the flavours and the variety. Good work!

A perfect pre-Como Cinema dinner. Prompt, enjoyable food. Generous serves and well priced.

Would return again!

Miss chu has had its ups and downs with me but I have finally worked out the strengths and weaknesses of this place. The rice paper rolls are fantastic, I love the vegan one and could eat these every day. The Peking duck is a rip off and simply terrible, I think they microwave it and it should be avoided! The patties (I think pork) are amazing and I love the DIY of this dish. Miss chus is miss and hit but once you work it out its a great little place
Naomi Kate
Having come here several times a week for around 3 years, Miss Chu is second to none and truly is the queen of rice paper rolls. The moment you step into Miss Chu, a stones throw away from Chapel St, you will immediately sense the trendy vibe, reflective of its location. This popular eatery often has wait times, but can accommodate more people on the small bars lining the walls. If you're lucky enough to get a booth seat, you will be in for the full Miss Chu experience. The menu is tick your own and then hand to the staff, and the usual wait time for food is very good. The flavours and range of the menu is exquisite, and that is why I come here time and time again. Having been to most inner city Vietnamese restaurants, Miss Chu is the only one that provides fresh and upmarket foods. Unfortunately I have deducted 0.5 off my rating, due to some staff not being friendly and sometimes even rude. However this does not reflect the whole staff at this amazing eatery. My favourite in Melbourne.
LiveToEat
Love how chill this place is and the food is very yummy!! I had the scallop and prawn dumplings which were delicious! But my favourite was the lemongrass beef dish! Oh my it was to die for, the flavours were so good I wanted to lick the bowl but obviously couldn't.

Went here with some friends and we were served by friendly, beautiful staff. Great menu options and very reasonable priced! Food was full of flavour and came quickly. Great atmosphere, highly recommended!

Miss Chu is the pioneer of fusion Cuisine. A story of inspiration, hard work, talent and creativity. You see her immigration papers imprinted on the walls as reminder of her roots and where she is now. And you will have a feel and an appreciation for the culinary flavors that make this city. With simple ingredients and complex flavors, little colorful dishes designed to impress flavor wise. A top favorite is the spring rolls with net pastry and the vermicelli salads. Never Been disappointed with any of the dishes. The flavors range from pleasantly mild to slightly more complex and spicy. They serve great cocktails at the bar also.... With all her rich history and culinary talents, Miss Chu still manages to have a sweet sense of humor with a slogan like: 'You Ling, We Bling'!!!!! You will see this slogan on her delivery scooters!! : D

PHO-get about it!!!!!!!. First off we were placed on a table made for a midget!!!! Not ideal. The waitress was rude and abrasive and the menu was limited. We ordered the mini beef pho which was awkwardly served in a bowl far too small for its contents. Just when we thought things couldn't get any worse, we bit into the meat (if you could even call it that!!!!!) It was chewy and has less flavour than the sole of my shoe. UGH!! Will not be returning, very dissatisfied. Don't see what all the hype is about.
Zen41
Seriously? Always saw tons of peoples waiting outside, I thought it was good.

Today I have try pho and roll, it is the most horrible pho that I have in melbourne. It is overrated, large size of pho cost 14$ which look like xs in other pure Vietnamese restaurant.

Move on people, this is horrible food, skip this place.
Meganpollard99
Disappointing pho. I had a take away vege pho last night. A handful of bean shoots was the only obvious ingredient in this soup - very disappointing.
Eugene
Uninspiring. Bland tasteless food. Might as well head to either Red Hot Wok or Pacific House down the road. It's a shame really, because you can't fault the service.
Filled With Food
I took my little cousins out for lunch to Miss Chu. There was no sign outside the tuck shop stating “Miss Chu” but all you have to look out for is the black and white picture of Nahji Chu as a little girl- the founder and creative director of Miss Chu. The tuck shop has good vibes. It is narrow but you won’t feel claustrophobic at all. I love how the light shades are made from vintage porcelain Chinese rice bowls. Customer service is ok but the staff didn’t seem to be too happy to be working there. We did have a few problem with the water served there. Water was served in recycled coconut milk cups. The idea is unique and fits the tuck shop feel but the cups were dirty, with white substances floating in our water. Other than that, the food was quite delicious.

Banging music, wrong order, table too small. Thought this place looked very cool when we walked in. We were taken to a tiny little table and did wonder how we were going to manage to eat at it. We ordered a few dishes - 2 came out straight away and the other never arrived. We waited half an hour (getting progressively agitated by the loud doof doof music) before checking - turns out they hadn't taken the order properly (despite us writing it down on the sheet). The food for our next dish (once it arrived) didn't fit on the table and half of it ended up on our laps. I had a coconut water which wasn't fresh and tasted full of sugar. The food was tasty enough but nothing special at all. Definitely not worth suffering the awful music, service and miniature tables!

We won't be returning!

Fantastic. Great food, great cocktail and what a wonderful atmosphere :) Love their take on the vietnamese pancakes.
LM
Really disappointed that the delivery doesn't go past 3.2 km from shop.
The Cats Cream
A light lunch in a light filled room at the rear of the restaurant. The food was fresh and tasty and the staff charming. We left in a happy state!
Momo428
Rice paper rolls yummmm...... Came here after a dissatisfying meal in another Vietnamese restaurant at the Windsor end of Chapel St. LOVE their rice paper rolls and Peking duck pancakes; even though Peking duck is not really Vietnamese but whatever... It was so yummy! The drinks were good too, staff was great. Very packed when we went on a Saturdsy night. Trendy and clean atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back
Lalalisa83
Thumbs-up. Love this place great use of space and the food is delicious and fresh. Staff were great and cocktails go down very well
Rebecca Feingold
I had the vegan mushroom tofu vermicelli noodle salad. There was sickening amounts of burnt black specks the whole way through the mushrooms from a dirty wok it was inedible. Never again.

Vietnamese is one of favorite cuisines and I never give up on a chance to try Vietnamese food. So when some of my friends wanted to dine at Miss Chu, I was very excited! This “tuck shop” is located in South Yarra. They also have a branch in the CBD. The moment you walk in to the restaurant, it becomes apparent as to why they call themselves a “tuck shop”. The front counter would remind you of a little school tuck shop window. I also liked their quirky decor...
Rinshedal
Overall this place serves well if you after a quick simple meal. The portion was generous and we had some salad leftovers, we left with a full and contented belly.
Jess Carey
For those of you not familiar with this gorgeous little place, Miss Chu bangs out some incredible Vietnamese food, with a bit more spunk than your standard Vietnamese establishment, and a hipster vibe to boot.
Finlay
Dissapointed. Overall my experience at misschu was average, I asked for some of my dishes to be put on hold as the waitress told me that everything arrives as it is ready, she returned to the table after speaking to the manager putting the orders through notifying us that it wasn't possible and we would have to order later. (Why?!?!?)
Food came quickly, thoroughly enjoyed the dumplings YUM.
But then we recieved the vermicelli salads, chefs seriously need to take more care when preparing. We asked for no chilli and fish sauce (guess what we got). Excessive amounts of both.... Notified the waitress who took our dish back happily, apologising for the mistake.
Most of the staff are very attentive and genuine, but the manager just bosses them around when they have enough to do already, she is rude and rushes you to your seats then wanders off.. (It gets worse). After about 45 minutes she told us she needed the table back, my night was completely ruined. Get off your high horse lady! If I wanted to be in and out I would get take away. NEVER AGAIN
Maj Maj
The vegan options are really good. I have the vegan rice crepes and the vegan vermicelli and I think they nailed it! Not the cheapest but when I CBf going out they do delivery and always on time, there pretty great when you just want to eat something delicious but healthy and get it delivered. Don't get the pho, the blandest! Water and salt and lots of rice noodle. My only complaint the pho, the rest amazing!
Senia Lai
Got our food delivered. Quite disappointed. Ordered the barramundi and vermicelli salad, both of these were very bland! We had to add our own seasoning/sauces. We weren't given any at all so both we're quite dry.
The shallots were great tho. Thank god for those otherwise the whole meal would've been ruined.
123foood
The food is great but the menu is difficult to follow, the staff are rude and it is clear they are waiting to push you out of the door and full your table with more customers. Good luck if you're waiting for take away, you'll be stared at and shoved past until your food arrives. However, the service is quick as a result and food arrives quickly

Is always pretty busy-a good sign!cheap for Trak rd too.. Dont understand the haters-its cheap cafe for sth yarra given the rent on toorak rd.
duh just double check yr order if waiting too long!
i love.miss chu is cheap & cheerful street food.with style .
my standing order- for eat in -lunch below....(who would order vietnmaese for delivery anyway?-is meant to be eaten pronto fresh!)
Entree- Crab vermacilli spring rollls & a Main of chicken with bok choy and red rice .mwah.
slushies are awesome in summer too-bannana/coconut/mint my fav.
Andrew
It is not bad at all. When I got there today I first ordered food and then decided to read the reviews. I was surprised that many people disliked the place. I liked it. Warm satay chicken noodles were very good as well as small pancakes with duck and something like pork wrapped in wide rice noodles.
Rubfurst
Too spicy and too rude. Food is inconsistently spicy. Sometimes so spicy that it is inedible. It can taste quite oily too. Although I have dined at Miss Chu many times, the service has always been rude. I will not be heading back there.
Lachlan Burleigh
Not overly enthused. A big section of the menu was unavailable. Service was okay but not great. The food we were able to get was great.
Coburg Diner
A good experience. There is nothing exceptional about this place but the food isn't overpriced and is quite tasty. The staff were very friendly and the food came out quickly. It doesn't pretend to be fine dining so don't expect that.
Tyrus_1182
THe best Pho that we tried so far. I never tried Pho that good, and my Fiance loves their Vietnamese Sandwich!
Anne
Waste of money and time. I ordered over the phone and was rushed through my order which the waitor hung up before I could ask how long or if they take card. Got there 10 minutes later only to stand there awkwardly in the middle of tables with waiters constantly brushing past me for 20 minutes.. i never thought putting rice paper rolls together could take 30 minutes? Food is average but so overpriced. 2x duck pancakes that are bite size for $7. What a rip off!! Never going back. Sooo over rated and not worth it.
Dkhang1710
Bad food, bad service. This is no where near the vietnamese standard that I expect. Every dish is too salty, even their signature dish, salmon with vermicelli salad. The worse place I have ever eaten in South Yarra.

My friends' dishes took wait too long to serve, 45 minutes for a Rice Crepe and a Beef Pho one.

Strongly recommended not to try
Brad
Too loud, slow service by inexperienced staff, average food. Should have gone else where.

Service was okay. Price slightly expensive. Had coconut sago with mango and coconut chips with reasonable price, loved it. On the other hand, I am disappointed with frozen young coconut crush LYCHEE & cucumber. Only had 1 lychee on top and that cost me $8. Great place and ambiance with very average food. I rather to go somewhere else.
Charles
How could anyone fault any of the food here. Everything was so delicious and service was great. Sunday lunch for 7 and everyone loved it. Will be back.
Tina Stojkovska
Make sure to ask what exactly is in every meal!. Finally got to Miss Chu last night after getting excited seeing their website and with friends recommendations. The concept is interesting, you order similar to a school lunch order, with the food listed and then tick boxes next to it, (ensuring that minimal customer service is received?).

We ordered dumplings, spring rolls, vegie bun and salmon with vermicelli. The food came out looking good, until I realised that my salmon dish was over flowing with cooked onions, something not mentioned on their menu description. Given I don't eat onion, I asked the waiter politely if anything could be done about removing the onion and that I was disappointed it was drowning in onion since it was not mentioned on the menu. He looked a little taken aback and possibly did not know how to handle the situation, so he took the food away and proceeded to have a group huddle with the rest of the stuff discussing my issue.
He came back to me and said (looking slightly embarrassed), "Due to OHS issues (!!) we cannot remove the onion for you, you will have to eat it as it is. And if you want a dish with no onion, you can order another one and we will charge you for another dish" and left the meal on the table. Well, I had been told! I had two mouthfuls and gave up, I couldn't eat it. Another waitress then proceeded to take the dish away, not even bothering to question why she was taking a full plate of food away to be thrown out.
I have been in the industry for a long time, I know how 'annoying' customers can get with their requests, but there is a certain level of customer service that is expected these days, especially with the access consumers have to sites like Urbanspoon and the like, to leave their instant comments, and word of mouth being such a huge factor is the success of restaurants.

After paying our $75 bill, I proceeded to go across the road to Nando's and get fed.

I won't be going back to Miss Chu, not even because of the food issue, but based totally on the lack of decency in customer service (not blaming the waiter rather the management) and I would not recommend the place to anyone else.
An
This place is incredibly overrated!!!!
Nothing else to say.
Much better to head to authentic, family run Vietnamese restaurants, plenty of them around, to avoid eating here.
The food is fine, but there are too many better places to go back
Snapsnapsnip
Hit & Miss. Hit- Tiger prawn spring roll was fresh and tasty and they had an awesome pandan panna cotta. Would go back for these.

Miss- The Beef pho noodle texture was nice and broth was clear but it was bland and lacking aroma. Waited 30 minutes for this and banh mi and told it was because it had to be made from scratch- this could've been mentioned when ordering.
Peter
Don't waste your time dining here. Shocking food matched with arrogant staff. Poor attempt trying to bring a modern twist into this classy part of Melbourne.
Brendan Gribble
Disappointing Pho. And coupled with a price of $15, not worth it at all.
Vita Leang
Very disappointed, ordered home delivery, food came ice cold and was soaked with the sauce from the papaya salad. The takeaway bag was completely soaked and all the content was all soaked. Worst experience, especially for $40 spent on home delivery, even the quality of normal pizza delivery of $15 is a lot higher.
KSW
When my salmon vermicelli bowl came out covered in dried onion, I politely asked if I could have another one due to being unable to eat onion (and it was not mentioned on menu) . The bowl was taken to the kitchen but then brought back a few minutes later, and I was told I had to order another one without onions if I did not want them. I subsequently waited 30 mins for the second bowl to come, with no apology. When I told the front desk I was not impressed when I was paying, I was met with blank faces and an argumentative manager. In an area with so many options for dinner and high competition, I would expect better customer service. I will not be returning.
Michelle
Yum food yuck service. I went there with 2 other friends, they placed us at the very back near the toilets, so close you can almost taste the excrement. we asked to move tables as there were plenty of available tables, and we got placed on a 2 person table, when there are 3 of us, i was flabbergasted at this point, how on earth could the waiters or any one educated in quality hospitality service have the audacity to do this without feely guilty or not expecting to have angry customers? we asked again and there was a huge hassle over it, apparently they have a thing where they must seat everyone at the back first, which i think is ridiculous. all we wanted was a table not located where i can smell waste and one that can comfortably fit 3 people. finally after 15 minutes we got a decent table. horrible indecent service, luckily the food was delicious, train your staff with better service please.
Cherrycherry
Love your food ... when it is available. I am sure no one can dispute the quality of the food at Miss Chu. It really is incredible. It is a little frustrating though when you try to order from home and half the items are 'no longer available'. Even at 6.30pm on a Thursday? really? The delivery staff actually took 2 hours to get my delivery to my on my most recent order which was pretty disappointing when I live a 5 min walk from the restaurant (I know, I should have picked it up. I'm lazy).

But hey, the food is always worth the wait, it is well priced and pretty much nothing could stop me from going back there!
FoodChi
Always an Excellent bite at Miss Chu. Miss Chu South Yarra, its gets super busy and prepare to line up at peak dinner times! Every time I eat there or order take away the food is always mouth wateringly delicious!
Jonathan Bray
We have consistently good stuff. We adore this place - we order take away probably once a month - it's always so damn good and so reliable. The pho is a fav - we had the beef till recently then tried the vego - delicious! We love the chicken curry, the spring rolls, the rice paper rolls. Would like more specials though - would love some more variety.
Floze Me
I tried the chicken curry and vegan soup yesterday, these were so nice. However the service needs to be improved.
Lawry_Spoons
A Deserved 67% Rating!. Average at best! If you are interested in going to a trendy little eatery, that has a good atmosphere but you do not care about waiting a while for average quality & quantity of food then Miss Chu is for you. You pay 30% more for food that is half as good as Richmond Vietnamese restaurants. We had rice paper rolls that were full of vermicelli & fell apart, a very average chicken curry with minimal love and an overly saucy warm lemon grass beef salad. And the chopsticks.... Spare me. I'll leave this one up to you.
Daniel Pursehouse
Possibly the worst beef Pho I've ever eaten.

Good luck

Lost our order. 45mins after waiting for our food and seeing the waitress pass us numerous times, we ask about our order. She checks and tells us it was lost, offering to comp us our $3 drinks that we never got in return for staying and waiting another likely 30mins. Thanks but no thanks.

Amazing Flavours and Food Unusual Staff Attitude. Can't quite work this place out the food is bouncing with freshness and flavour price is okay and the serving size is good. It says table service but after 5 minutes despite it being quiet no one approached so I went up to a cashier in a booth who took my order I then sat down but was told to move because I was on a premium table despite no one greeting me or showing me to a table the waiter then pointed to a tiny little bench I told him I wasn't moving as the table he was directing me to was too small plus I had work files on me he relented and then went from zero service to ok service, weird staff culture and service.
Fish
Heard good reports so decided to get some takeaway for dinner. We grabbed so r rice paler rolls - the tuna ones were incredible and fresh! We also got the chilli prawns with rice and quinoa which I thought was a quality dish. Good serving size too. Might have to dine in next time...
Adrian 'El Tubbo' Koukoulas
Second attempt at this joint to see if my opinion has improved. Ordered and waited 50 minutes till I noticed people who came ordered prior already got drinks and food. I asked the friendly waiter if there are any issues with our drinks, entree and mains. Turned out our order was lost. We were offered free drinks, which didn't suffice.

I previously held off from voting against Miss Chu to give the benefit out doubt. Not now.
Genevieve Swan
Great vibe and great food. Try the satay chicken with rice main, absolutely fab! Good for people who love a bustling place and sharing food. Love it, have been back and will be back again :)

Tasty food, disappointing service. Lately I've been going to Miss Chu probably once a fortnight, at least, because I have a weekly class nearby.
Most of the food is really tasty (those pork buns, hot damn!) and it comes out quickly. So mostly it's a nice little place for a quick bite.

But the service is actually terrible. I mean, there's a host, I think, but people don't seem to be seated in any particular order? Twice groups of people the same size as ours who arrived into the line after us have been seated before us, that's just rude. In addition we've been seated at a dirty table a couple of times and there is less than no effort by the staff to be helpful or to build any rapport with customers. For example, a lot of the food is for sharing, but every time we go we have to either ask for side plates to eat off or go up and get them ourselves.

I still love the pork buns and some of the other dishes, but I might start getting take away ...
Bmedcroft
Getting really bad. I live just around the corner and used to come here all the time. It was great when it first opened - quick, tasty and high quality.

The last few times I've been (I go very rarely now and only if I'm starving and out of ideas) it's been awful. I don't say that lightly. The service is disorganised, impatient and impersonal - even when picking up take away it takes forever. Worse though, the quality of the food has degraded to the point of being almost inedible. I just threw two take-away and tasteless phos in the bin, and unfortunately I wont be returning again.
Virginia Streit
Disappointing. Have had Miss Chu's food twice - the first time I ordered roast duck & banana flower rice paper rolls on the run. Delicious, but much smaller than rice paper rolls you'd get anywhere else.

The second time I went for dinner with friends. I ordered the so-called 'Tiger prawn and green mango salad' which was really a pile of shredded carrot with four tiny prawns which really didn't look like tiger prawns at all, and a couple of pieces of mango. It was disappointing and with hardly any protein, certainly unsatisfactory as a main.

My friend had the seared Atlantic salmon vermicelli salad which was greasy, but tasty. My other friend had the vegan pho which was the nicest dish on our table that night.

In a city full of amazing vietnamese food, Miss Chu's is nothing impressive and will be easily forgotten.
MC
Outstanding. The food was great and the service was above and beyond.
Highly Recommend
Sumay Evans
No idea about service. Went here on Saturday night for dinner. Service was terrible. Not a manager in sight and some poorly trained staff. Nobody could explain the menu to me, everyone was too busy. Food was tasty but won't be back unless they train their staff to understand the menu, check our orders and smile.
Kang Jangmi
Lunch. Entrée was Rice Paper Rolls - Free Range Egg Omelet, Avacado & Balsamic Caramelised Onion.

Main was Lemongrass Beef Vermicelli Salad.

Both tasted quite nice. There was a balanced amount of chilli for my main which was good (so it wasn't too spicy or too mild). Next time I want to try the mushroom salad (looked yummy) and hopefully have room to try one of their desserts!
Service was reasonably good too (timing of food was good, filled up water, etc).

Staff don't care. Have been here before and last time service and food were great - this time not so much. Staff acted like we were an inconvenience for lunch, cafe wasn't even a quarter full. When we asked to move tables as we had ordered too many dishes to fit on our small table, waitress sighed and almost rolled her eyes. We could hear staff discussing management really loudly and talking about fellow workers - so unprofessional and nothing you want to listen to when you are out for a meal.
Food was great, nothing to complain about but staff were unprofessional and an embarrassment to the company
Prue Kasby
This place is a joke. Worst service I have ever encountered. Not enough staff, the ones that were there didn't seem to care. Waited in line for almost 10 mins just to pay the bill. Food was nothing special and totally overpriced. Won't be back
Alias85g
Carrot with a side of prawns??. Bitterly disappointed with my experience at miss chu tonight. Firstly our waitress did not know the menu, midway through our main course was told our entree choice was sold out because someone forgot to order flour, 20 minutes later our substitute entree meal came after we had finished our main, our main meals were flooded in chilli like I've never experienced AND to top it off the Prawn salad ($15)came with 3 prawn! Our frustrations with this experience deepened when the unhelpful and customer service-inept manager responded to our concerns with 'miss chu likes her salads with only 3 prawns'.
Will not be back!
Levent Aydin
Absolutely rubbish, it was not fresh and had no taste to it. We ordered 5 dishes and only one was actually edible.
Meg Stewart
Very unsure as to why they stopped serving the satay type sauce with the satay chicken rice paper rolls. Completely lost all flavour after this change. Also the swap from "wild rice and quinoa" to barley really just made me change my mind about this place. I order takeaway from there at least twice a week and their salmon with wild rice and quinoa was incredible, but had it the other night with barley and it's not the same. Change it back to the old stuff guys, they were both amazing and now taken a turn for the worst
Issie
Yum Yum. Discovered Miss Chu a couple of months ago and been back many times, mainly for takeaway. Prawn vermicelli salad, dim sums, mushroom vermicelli salad, fish with quinoa and wild rice, papaya and prawn rice paper roll - all tried and tested - fresh flavours, delicious, good portions. The accompanying sauces are really good too.
Bohort's Mother
Despite the reviews (which is what most usually go by) I thought I'd give it a go.. All I can say is, majority doesn't always rule. The food was quite delicious, although served a little too quick, (we had all our dishes brought over all at once... All 7!) Everything was fresh, well made and very tasty. Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to eating there again soon.
Chicken Chicky
My spring roll was uncooked
Phoebe Spalding
Yum. Really surprised with the bad reviews left for this place. I love it. The quinoa wild rice & salmon dish is amazing. Last wk I tried the mushroom dumplings & the Vegan Pho which came with lots of chunky veggies, chilli & gluten free noodles. Fave bowl of Pho in Melb. So fresh & health with a great atmosphere & set up.
Emily Micallef
Don't go on a hot night! Yes it was 40degrees in Melbourne today, but when it's cooler outside than inside a restaurant you know there's a problem. Food was oily and certainly nothing special. I wouldn't bother again-stick to Springvale for authentic and fresh Vietnamese food!
Lucymills06
Favourite Vietnamese quickie!. I was recommended Miss Chu for a light lunch and it didnt disappoint. I was so excited to be there. The spring rolls are the best iv ever had in Aus. Yes they are smallish but amazing, perfect light crunch and tasty. I couldnt help but order another serve since they were too easy to eat! The rice paper rolls were too the best iv ever had. A delicious balance of flavours.
The Tastebud
Loved it.. I don't get the negative reviews. My experience at Miss Chu was faultless. Saying that, I did dine at 11:30am midweek, so it was relatively early and diners had just started trickling in for lunch.

I had an excellent waitress who guided me through the menu and made recommendations- which I followed.

I had:
-prawn & crab wrapped in crispy vermicelli pastry net - wrapped in lettuce (4 pieces)
- traditional Peking duck pancake (could have done with some more sauce)
- seared atlantic salmon with XO sauce on a warm vermicelli salad.

I would have loved to have tried the 'coconut sago with mango and coconut chips' but there was no space left for dessert.

I would definitely return.
Apparently the evening menu is the same but the dishes are up to $2 more.

Interior fit out is superb.

Well done!!!
Simonjamesburgin
Lame. Ordered traditional beef Pho... no sprouts, no chopped chilli... at $14, underwhelmed, but they haven't even done the basics right.. never again
The Next Meal
Take away serve very small. Just had the take away of the Warm Vermicelli with beef and the box measures 8cmH x 9cmW x 9cmD, it fitted into a small cereal bowl! Definitely not worth getting take-away when the serve is much bigger eating in. Otherwise, it provides good but pricey Vietnamese inspired food in a restaurant dressed up to impress.
M For FOOD And Drinks Occasionally.
Great concept, good atmosphere. However service all over the place and not a reason to return. Drinks came out wrong so did the food.
Penny
Great concept, needs better food!. I do like Miss Chu, I think it's a great concept, great decor, generally friendly staff. However the food I had wasn't fantastic. The Egg Omelet Rice Paper Rolls were delicious and perfectly done, however the Hanoi Vegetarian Net Spring Rolls were ridiculously oily, as if they'd been fried in oil that was far too cool and not been drained, the plate was covered in a THICK puddle of oil. The dumplings I could take or leave. The young coconut juice is delicious though.

Still, great for a quick meal!
Spencer
What was really once the talk of the town, now becomes a sour note in my opinion. Was there a few weeks ago, begore xmas, and our food came out wrong, cocktails with no alcohol... jeez. Get it together guys, it's only a small shop.
Paynebronte
Good-ish food, wont return due to AWFUL service!. Worst service around, disorganised place. food is okay but you can get better food for less money elsewhere. shame- used to love this place.
Lindahaynes.f
Love love love. Couldn't ask for a more fantastic lunch spot. After reading her short bio in the paper we had to come and see what all the fuss was about. The fuss is defs there for a reason. Miss Chu the food was superb. New fav for sure!
Brigid Flynn
So overrated. How can they get vietnamese so wrong?
Maddox88
Busy - but worth it! Fresh and Healthy. Love the coconut slushies and the Banh Cuon is the best I've had, including in Vietnam. Its busy but worth the wait. Love this place
Natalie
Portion sizes too small!!!. I love the taste of Miss chu - everything is yummy but I find the portion sizes are way too small.

Come on Miss Chu, surely you make decent profit on rice noodle salads that you can afford to actually fill the box up?!?

Service sucks - its really does but the flavors make up for it...I continue to go back cause I crave that type of food....wishing something else in the area would serve similar food!

waiting waiting
Terribleservice
Some of the worst service I have ever encountered. I will not be darkening their doorstep again.

After finishing our meal, I asked whether we could get our remaining rice paper rolls "to take away", and the girl took them into the kitchen. I assumed that she was putting them into a container, but after five minutes of waiting, we asked what was happening. She said that she had thrown them out, as I had told her to "clear them". In fact, I had clearly said that I wanted to "take them away". She refused to acknowledge the misunderstanding, and made no attempt to apologise or replace the rice paper rolls.

It's not the mistake that bothers me, as it was a simple misunderstanding; it's the fact that she had the temerity to imply that I was at fault, putting words in my mouth, and made absolutely no attempt to resolve the situation amicably.

Anyone who has been through customer service 101 would know that the way to handle it is to apologise, and offer to replace the rolls. I would have left the place happy.

The lesson here is that the customer is always right, but especially when they are, in fact, right.

It's a shame, because the food and the atmosphere are decent. But terrible customer service leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Stephanie Cheong
I really don't get the bad reviews on Miss Chu. And am really surprised it's achieved such a low rating. I recently went and the food is amazing! Delicious and fresh just like it should be. The service wasn't bad at all. The staff were friendly and attentive. And the decor is so hip and cool (lights are made out of bowls). People should honestly disregard the bad reviews and give this place a try! It's great! I'll definitely be going back!

Really average service and the rocket in the prawn rice paper rolls is super over powering
Melissatryoy564
Miss fantastic. Loved the food. Great service and a good selection of dishes.

See for yourself. Reading reviews here I was sceptical coming to miss chu. I've started ignoring reviews and lucky I did here. Fantastic experience. Can't wait to come back!

Worst service in Melbourne! Have always been a fan of Miss Chu after living in Sydney for a few years and always enjoying the service and food. So dissapointed by my experiences with the South Yarra tuck shop. Two hour wait for a delivery of a few rice paper rolls and steamed dumplings - and the dumplings were stone cold when they arrived. Decided to give them a second chance and waited again - 90 mins for delivery. Food cold when it arrived. On top of that they CHARGE for delivery! Worst service ever.

Ordered dinner tonight, love it here, service is always amazing. We got a delivery as the place was packed. Our food was cold when it arrived, not surprised really considering how busy they were. We called up to let them know and they very kindly replaced the food within minutes. So understanding and quick to fix the problem. Thanks a million, we'll be back soon! -Olivia

Music is so loud it drives you nuts!! Staff don't seem to care

Tasteless pho and food . .... Tasteless pho and food
. Messy place ran by kids. Not Going back. You can get way better Vietnamese and cheaper in Richmond.
Jefsie Tilley
Improving. I wanted to check this place out for ages after eyeing it off for some time. I really love the lemongrass beef vermicelli salad, the pork buns and rice paper rolls but the service isn't amazing. Happy to wait for a table but the first time we left our number to wait for an opening we never got a call back as the staff member lost our number! Luckily we went back and they could squeeze us in. All in all the food is yummy but service could be improved.
Foodie92
No thankyou.. Have given this place a chance one too many times!
Sick of my meal being drowned in fried onion and as a result tasting burnt...
The last three times I have ordered from miss chu I have been disappointed. There is no better way to describe the experience other than yuck.

Lesson learnt.
Hungryhippo88
Food was good. Wild rice, dumplings and curry.
Rice paper rolls were ok. I'll be back!

Worst service I have ever come across, being told you have 45 minutes to sit at your table and in that timeframe have to eat starters, mains and desert along with sharing a bottle of wine with a group of friends is absolutely insane. The food was average but the service and manager who had no interest in providing an excellent customer experience. Responses to our complaint of being a tuckshop and not be interested in having service defeats the object of any food enterprise. Even McDonald's pride themselves on service and in my eyes a tuck shop is that counter at school where you buy your 10c sweet mix. Save your money and your disbelief and go elsewhere

HORRIBLE RUDE SERVICE! Came on a Saturday and booked an hour and half table, arrived and was rudely told 40 minutes due to being busy.. Fair enough although our food took 30 minutes to arrive, one meal came out in 10 minutes so we sat watching one of our friends eat. The wine arrived 30 minutes later also, 40 minutes and only minutes into our meals the waiter rudely came over "darling, it's time to get of the table" what was worse was his body language waving his hand around. We explained we hadn't finished our meals or wine, he didn't care. Asked for the manager and told the manager our situation, he responded "Darling this is a tuck shop, not a Resturant, we don't do good service, now could you pay your bill and leave the table"!! This is from the manager!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Never have I ever been so disgusted and angry in public at such abysmal service. How they are so busy and survived for as long as they have operating on that kind of service is beyond me. I almost walked out without paying- luckily I could get my food in a doggy bag!!!!! GRRRRRRRR
John
First time for my quick lunch today and i have to say this place got :Smart concept , great ambiance , the food is good , fast and cheap .
the service is really good when we know that this place is a tuck shop and not a restaurant .
Really enjoyed it , and will come back for sure !

Disgusting worst ever. OMG this is the worst place in melbourne. where do i start. the food is disgusting, dry terrible rice paper rolls that they're supposed to be famous for. The salads are well below acceptable modern standards. The dumplings served cold and tasteless. The service non existent. the place is filthy the toilets weren't working and there was water on the floor. no one bothered to mop up.This place is without doubt a joke. I felt ill just even smelling the so called food. I've found out thatbthis place isnt even owned by the original miss chu. It's a fancishe owned by non restaurant people. You can tell based on the unprofessinal atttiude and service. STAY AWAY
JC
Worst service ever Overpric.... Worst service ever
Overpriced food for what it is and worst of all they dont care at all about customer service. The restaurant manager is hopeless! No wonder so many unhappy customers.
Fat Nancy
Went on a Saturday afternoon, nobody was there to greet us or take us to a table untill we asked ,staff were too busy chit chatting amongst themselves. When I was about to place an order still staff were too busy chit chatting had to wave & call out to them for service. Food was nice but overpriced could get better at Richmond or even elsewhere. Never again.
Cath Lovelock
8pm on a Thursday night and it was packed! Although we managed to get a seat after a few minutes. The food is great; light, fresh and tastey. The service could be improved, perhaps they need to focus on being more attentive. I will definitely return!
Melza912
Amazing simple Vietnamese food, quick service, polite staff. always a good experience and worth the wait for the incredible food.
Try the chicken curry and rice paper rolls :)
Dave
I've eaten here several times. Take away twice and today dined in. Service is hopeless and really can't compare to the dozens of other better Vietnamese restaurants popping up around town. Won't be back. All bling and no zing.

Long wait. Lunch on a quiet Tuesday afternoon, just myself and friend and few others in the restaurant... waited 40 mins for 3 meals... and it was only after 30 minutes we asked a staff member how much longer, only to be then asked by two more staff what we ordered.... lovely staff, however not worth the wait.. won't be going back
Pauline
Downhill. Its a pity. when Miss Chu was new, they used to make the BEST Salmon, Quinoa and Wild Rice. now that its busy, and the word is well and truly out, the quality of the food has gone downhill. dramatically.
J Macalaca
Hit the spot!. We pre ordered & the deliciousness was ready when we got there 20 mins later. Wild Rice & Quinoa with Satay Chicken - perfect size & exactly what I needed. I'll be back!
FoodcopFadcop
I've been here over 10 times, hoping that there would be improvements. The service and presentation is consistently terrible. The food is hit and miss. Sometimes the meat is delicious and fresh and other times it's dry and gritty. The dumplings almost always come
Out cold and chewy. The rice
Paper rolls can sometimes taste really fresh and flavoursome And other times bland.

I wouldn't recommend it and this is from a person who loves the city miss chu.

There are two members of the staff who are superb and the rest of the staff just seem bamboozled by the work load.

I am writing this while I'm
Sitting her as the only customer dining in, having waited 25 minutes for rice paper rolls.
Summer
Better off going to Victoria Street! Love r decor and vibe, however the pho is twice the price and half as good as Victoria Street. I ordered a vegetarian meal which had way very hot, so much chilli when e menu didn't mention chilli. Suggest making the trip to Vic street for the real deal.
Rebecca R
This isn't my first review for misschu but might be my last. Usually come here all the time and like it. Came in, didn't have to wait due to the nice waitor. Waited fourty minutes for dumplings, asked a few times but they never came. I come for the dumplings. The staff were nice about it, obviously it was busy but other customers had dumplings and I didn't. Very disappointed
Loz
Rude service. Ordered delivery and paid upfront with credit card. Told 45 min wait. 70 mins later still no food. We call the restaurant only to be met by an argumentative idiot. Another 15 mins later food arrives cold. Never again.
Robbie
Absolutely beautiful! The staff where lovely The prawn and crab spring rolls were amazing as was everything we ordered The service was fantastic , food came in the perfect time it was all so fresh! Loved it and can't wait to return. the place has such a fun vibe to it
Ethan Chaikijkosi
I went there with my wife expect a quick dinner but turn out to be 40 mins wait with out any drink!! Oh my lord!! We let waitress know and she came back with excuses the our order not in the system!! Really?? We left the place hungry and wonder. Try to avoid this place if you are really hungry.
Ms Judicious
Worst service and front of house staff. If you enjoy good service this is not the place for you.
Bella Vista
Great spot pre or post como cinema. The food is good and its a great spit to eat pre or post Como Cinema... but the staff are something else! One night they even turned out the lights in the restaurant to bring out cake w candles for my friends birthday - very sweet - thank you ;-)
Gee Alice
I just waited 50 minutes for rice paper rolls and some dumplings...
Lauren Marino
Absolutely beautiful! The best dinner date I've been on in ages. The prawn and crab spring rolls were to die for! And the BBQ pork buns were delish! The service was outstanding, food was staggered and quick, and so so fresh! Already planning my next dinner there
Sarah Gartlan
Nice decor but food is really average. I ordered the rice vermicelli salad with spring rolls and the sauce was overpowering and not very nice. I won't be going back.
Stanny
A cute restaurant and the food is nicely presented. After reading other reviews I was expecting rude service, but the host was very friendly. The rest were ok; I got water spilled all over me when a waitress turned around and walked into me, and no one seemed to think they needed to do anything about this. We were there for the food, though, and unfortunately it was all very bland and disappointing. The vegetarian net noodle salad was basically just a bowl of noodles with some bits of chili on top, no other sauce or flavouring whatsoever, and the rest was no better. The only thing I enjoyed was the yellow bean steamed bun. The tuckshop ordering system is cute but unreliable; we had at least three dishes come to our table that we didn't order, as well as the wrong number of items, and the tables next to us had the same problems. This system also means that the staff don't actually have to use any customer service, since all they do is put dishes onto tables, which just felt lazy and unfriendly to me.
Rosie Metcalfe
The green papaya salad was great! Busy but worth the wait, it's a nice resteraunt so don't go looking in a state!
Alice Yeah
Miss Chu's Tuckshop ... tuck in and hop out. At 6:30 my friend and I just managed to grab a table for 4. Be aware that it’s a small and very busy venue and you will be asked repeatedly if you've ordered/are eating more/ where your other parties are and when you'll be ready to leave. We only got away with waiting half an hour for the other 2 people in our party to fill the table because my friend knew the waiter and we ordered wine and dumplings while we were waiting. They do warn you on the top of the menu that you may be required to "make way for those who are hungrier and thirstier than you" probably with good reason as by 7pm the place was overflowing and there was a line a dozen people long outside. We tried a number of dumplings, spring rolls (tasty but tiny), steamed buns and rice paper rolls. I thought the food was tasty and reasonably priced but not exceptional. I left happily fed but nothing stood out in my mind as particularly memorable. We are not easily flustered so the hurry ups didn't bother us and we were happy to go elsewhere to linger over more drinks. I'd go back for a quick meal if I was nearby and could get a table straight away but I definitely wouldn't line up or wait for a table. I'd recommend Colonel Tan's for excellent asian hawker food if you want to linger comfortably over your meal and drinks.
Evarrr
Oh my, their beef pho is amazing, beautiful stock and braised ox tail. I keep coming back for this. Would def recommend.

Ok but not great. I'm reviewing the Toorak rd restaurant. Went there last night after seeing a movie across the road so had a late dinner. Easier to get a table than I thought it would be. I'm surprised with all the negative reviews as we found the service to be really good. Initially the restaurant was full and they put four of us on a very small table and moved us to a larger table as soon as was available. At the end of our meal the host/bartender gave us a small lychee cocktail in a shotglass for the inconvenience of moving tables. Very impressed with this. The food on the other hand is unfortunately just average. Not great but not bad either. The rice paper rolls that they are famous for are huge and filling. The Peking Duck pancakes were very dry - and not comparable to Simon's Peking Duck restaurant. Otherwise a nice dining experience in very funky decor.
Nastassja Kuran
RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Absolutely appalling service at the people in the head office misschu ! Menu on website states certain dishes are "gluten free," but in store it doesn't. I called the head office to ask what the go was, and I was told rudely "we kind of just put GF on everything, us Vietnamese people don't develop allergies because we actually eat healthy and fresh foods!" NEVER RETURNING.

DRIVE TO VICTORIA STREET FOR CHEAPER, FRESHER, FASTER FOOD. Simple!!
Toffa24
Be prepared to wait and wait and wait. Ordered online for delivery on Friday at 6pm. Took 1 hour and 20 minsutes to arrive despite the fact I selected the 'ready now' option.
If it is going to take over one hour AND you have to pay $7 delivery fee for the priveldge you should let your customer know.
WE paid $100 for some rice paper rolls and a few mini noodle boxes. What a rip.

-----17 Jun, 2013-----

The pho was dull as dishwater and cost $15. Take the short ride to Victoria Street instead.

After hearing great things about miss chu my friends and I decided to check it out. The food was tasty enough however the host was rude and unwelcoming. Basically kicked us off our table to make room for new customers. Not a good impression.
Cav
Would be great if I could get a table... Hour and a half wait not cool... Good thing it wasn't my last request or anything. Good thing there are plenty of good places nearby *cough* imperial *cough*
IsFoodIsGood
Simple light Vietnamese food. Try the Spring roll vermicelli salads. They are great and good value.
Ryan Alford
The host is really rude, the pho was really over cooked and lacked flavor.
Hannah
Busy but great. Miss Chu is a great place to catch up with friends.
The menu is good and the rice paper rolls are delicious
It is very busy all the time, and it does become very noisy.
Food is slightly pricey but good.
Maddison90
Bland, soggy, cold. will not brighten a winters day. I have never reveiwed a place but this is my first. i am generally very easy to please. I do not intend to be vicious but I must be. 10 cooks in the kitchen. Yet the curry I was served had cold overcooked soogy noodles. Underdone chicken. No sauce to be seen. And half a potatoe and a piece of carrot for vegetables. I requested salt and soy sauce in an aid to save the blandest asian dish I have been served possibly to date. it was an unsaveable dish fifteen dollar dish.
The place is viaually pleasing. Alot of money seems to have been poured into the place. It seems some money needs to be directed to the kicthen. Too many cooks spoil the noodles but a qualified chef may save the place.

Bad service and bad communication. I work on St Kilda Road and we order from Misschu (South Yarra) every Thursday. We make a significant order each week (around $150)...Today we ordered at 11.30, the driver left South Yarra at midday and we were delivered cold food at 1.30. Cold food for 10 people 2 hours late. When it did eventually arrive after numerous phone calls back and forth from the shop, the packaging had disintegrated so much when one colleague unpacked the food the entire contents of a salad spilled all over her dress. All of the food was cold and some completely inedible. We have been ordering for over 3 months each week...Never again, not good enough.
Moose
If you're after a quick, relatively cheap meal then Miss Chu will fit the bill. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service efficient. But it's not a patch on the authentic Vietnamese you'll find in Box Hill and it's not as cheap as Victoria Street...so it's easy to do better.
Vanessa
I have heard a lot of good things about this place and was very disappointed the manager was very rude and un friendly really bad way to start a meal followed by a disappointment of entrees!
AliceW
A small wait for a table, but friendly staff, and delicious, healthy and wholesome meals had by all, lemongrass beef with greens and quinoa&wild rice was excellent as was everything else we had.
Tom Booth
Worse service ever!. Blonde haired manager???? was absolutly rude to me and my friends -

1. Didn't get our drinks until after all our food had come out - then were made to feel like it was our fault.
2. Wouldn't let us get three cold rolls had to get 4 which was fine but she was super rude about it.
3. Cold rolls didn't come out with the rest of the food and then a nice lady asked us if we still wanted them and we were like no we are fine, then rude blonde haired manager says we have to have them, so we get them 20 minutes after our last food came out.
4. Went to pay on credit card and they charged us a service fee, what a joke spent in the triple figures are you kidding, no one has cash anymore.
5. Will never ever go here again.
Esmee Summers
Yeah my boyfriend and I go there all the time too on the weekends and obviously some reviewers don't know how it works at miss Chu! Food and service are great and the host is amazing!!! Especially when dealing with difficult people who don't know that it's a quick in and out tuck shop not a restraunt!
HospoGuru
I do have to say this place is pretty busy and can get abit hectic especially on the weekends. My girlfriend and I have dined here many times and with friends also. We've seen many changes and they've been good. It seems to be getting better. As for the host guy I take my hat off to him, he's always by himself in the front and tries to deal with coming in and out traffic and deal with unreasonable rude people. As he says " miss Chu is a tuck shop not a restraunt". So when we're waiting in a Queue for 30min -40min and then get a txt that our table is ready we're happy, get In then get out because we now what it's like to wait for a table. At least they txts us now instead of waiting in the cold. Totally disagree with the review below! On that note my girlfriend loves the pho!!! And dumplings are awesome!!!! Definitely will be back!!!

Awful-Do not reccomend. After hearing so much I decided to check it out for myself. I arrived around 8:30, it looked busy but not too bad. The 'host' was very rude when greeting us, then very over the top trying to be friendly and funny, very awkward. He told us it would be a 30 minute wait. We decided to stay, there were so many empty tables yet he still told us it wouldn't be too much longer. These table were empty the whole time we waited, we couldn't understand why we were made to stand outside. We were informed we would have a time limit to eat out meal as it gets too busy, I understand its no 5 star restaurant but this seems utterly ridiculous to me. He then seated us and very rudely just walked off telling someone else to come and help us, surely he is not too good to explain the system to us. Food was ok, not much taste and too many noodles and not much else and all seemed suspiciously packaged to me after plenty of experience which this kind of food. Service from floor staff was all very good, they were polite and efficient which was surprising as there were hardly any and had a lot to do.
Overall wouldn't recommend as rude staff greeting and bad food.

There will be no third time ..... Been here twice. First time I went with my partner after reading about it in the newspaper. Great atmosphere, loved the way it is decked out. It's like you're in a laneway. Love the concept. We were given a run down of how it all worked.
Tried the prawn dumplings, rice paper rolls and the fish of the day with quinoa and red rice. All the dishes were tasty so we decided to order another serve of the dumplings. We waited 20 minutes and they still hadn't arrived. So we asked one waitress to find out how much longer and she never came back to us so we asked for the bill. Found out the order was never put through.
Anyway we paid and walked out only to find out we were been chased down Toorak Rd by the 'blond' woman saying we hadn't paid!!! We explained to her that we did, she turned around and she didn't even apologise. Overall it was a different and enjoyable experience.
Second time round we decided to take the kids for lunch today. We ordered exactly the same dishes and added some vegetarian ones. They weren't as yummy as the first time. Stay away from the vegetarian curry - it was sooo bland we couldn't eat it! Having said that the service was much better second time round.
Won't be going back for the third time.
Harper Quinn
Staff need to learn menu. That about sums it up. Been here three times and its ok. Not too expensive which is good because the food is basic and not very wow factor. LOVE the red rice they serve instead of boring white. Staff need to learn the menu items- asked if buns were gluten free first visit they said yes. Ate them, got a terrible stomach ache then asked again the next time I was in and they told me they WERE NOT gluten free. Someone could get very sick!
Sth Yarra Local
An hour and a half wait for takeaway delivery and it was all cold. I live 5 mins away. Very disappointing.
Munchies
A bit disappointed. I've heard great things about this place from a friend so when I stumbled across this place one day, decided to try it out. We were lucky and got a table straight away and I have to say they were very quick and efficient in bringing out all the food. The spring rolls were nice, had a few different ones to try. The rice paper rolls weren't bad but nothing special. The main let down was the beef pho, it was very bland. Also the beef vermicelli, soooo salty, couldn't even finish it.
Carlysilverwoodpt
So many better places to go..... I wouldn't bother again with Miss Chu South Yarra - After so much hype my friend and I were keen to check it out....Waited half and hour for a table...had the host come back to us x3 times and ask if we were after takeaway, when we told him again we wanted a table, we were seated. Food was fine, no complaints as such but there are SOOOO many more authentic Vietnamese places to eat in melbourne with fresher crisper ingredients compared with Miss Chu's rather heavy oily combos. For the price - the meals were quite bland
Muncher
Loved it. Cheap, tasty food. Funky atmosphere and no pretence. I've eaten at another miss chu in Sydney and I love the concept. For the reviewer below who wrote "I don't get it"... no, you certainly don't!
Leesa
If you haven't been to Asia then you probably wouldn't get what miss chu is trying to achieve. Introducing Vietnamese eating customs, style and food. An interesting location in South Yarra, as I have found the locals expect a certain service and less likely to appreciate the street tuckshop atmosphere. I really enjoyed the experience, I think you have to relax and go with the flow. It is busy, loud, cramped and the service is bordering on slow. But and this is a big but..... The host is georgous, the food cheap, simple and it is authentic. My favorite was pork dumplings and rice paper wrap with special sauce. Maybe add another waiter or two to make for a smoother service. Miss chu is fun and full of life. V
Bobby The Cat
Cramped, uncomfortable seating, no BYO, bland pho, deafening doof doof music. What's to like about this place? Don't get it!
UNO
Been meaning to come here for ages because of the lines outside. Glad I finally did the food was awesome. Prawn and Scollop Dumpling was my favourite. Loved the Chilli Prawn Salad too. Didn't have problem with service, but tonight was busy, wasn't super packed.
Anyway, loved it and will be back for sure.

Four of us had a nice evening at Miss Chu. The front part of the restaurant had a Vietnamese street feel, even down to the seating on quaint stools.
Service was pretty quick and very friendly. The food started to come out rapidly and the entrees were great. My favourite was the deep fried vegetable spring rolls wrapped in a crispy vermicelli. For mains we had the beef with lemon grass and rice as well as the satay chicken breast with vermicelli noodles. The chicken was my favourite, although my wife found it too spicy for her taste.
We shared a dessert of chocolate and ginger slice with lychee flavoured vanilla ice cream.
All up it worked out to just over $25 per head which was pretty reasonable.
Jason 'Jase' Goldsmith
I eat at Miss Chu several times a week. It's cheap, quick and no nonsense. Unbelievably busy restaurant by melbourne standards but reminiscent of my time in Vietnam. Food is authentic. Tried everything on the menu and have a few favorites like the steamed crepes. Would be prefect if I could get that magnificently nutty chocolate Vietnamese coffee that I thoroughly enjoyed there but you can't get it in australia. They do their best and I love it.
Melb Mama
Very disappointed. Was really looking forward to our dinner here as on holidays and walked past several times where my 2yr old kept saying "yummy, something smells yummy in there Mama!". Walked in at 5:00pm on the dot, only 4-6 people sitting at the back so thought great food won't take long. Waiter was very friendly, gave us water and took my order ASAP (Great as there was my baby, my 2 and 4 yr old children with me). However same waiter came back to me twice confirming my order. One waiter bought me a drink that I didn't order , another who looked like the boss, bought me a huge bowl of hot soup that she put in front of my toddlers (big no no!) which again I did not order! My kids being so patient then started saying "where's the food mama?" After half an hour- fair enough i say! I asked where our food was, then after 35 mins it arrived. Just two small bowls of dumplings which were served In a soup of sauce- spicy sauce that my kids could not eat! I asked where the duck pancakes where and 5 mins later they were plonked on my table. The saddest pancakes I'd ever seen, a tiny bit of duck in a wee bit of pancake. I stayed 5 mins, paid my $24, left and had to go back to the hotel and feed my kids dinner! So disappointing!
Martini_love
Great food, average service. Food was really lovely here, we all enjoyed our meals and drink. Service, however needs to be worked on. Seems there is no communication between the staff as our orders got mixed up a few times but still very delicious. Will go back.
BNCI
Worst service in Melbourne. Never been made to feel like such a hassle in my life. When we finally got a table after being overlooked at the front of the line for half an hour, we had to put our own order in and ask for our drinks three times. Every table around us was similarly upset. Will stick to Hanoi Hannah up the road!

I'm also one of those people who doesn't like writing harsh reviews but I felt this to be necessary. I went to miss chu for dinner last night with my vegan room mate. The place looks great blah
blah. We got served by an extremely rude man. Waited an hour and a half for our meals and I couldn't even eat mine. Do yourself a favour, do not order the lemon grass beef with 'greens' also known as over cooked spinach on a bed of black rice and quinoa. No sauce. The beef was tough and overcooked. It was inedible. I also got the prawn and scallop dumplings. Yuck. Thickest casing I couldn't even bite into it and the filling was certainly not authentic Vietnamese. Tasted like it was out of a packet. Expensive. Disgusting service and food. I was so disappointed I will never return.
SezW
Great!. We went here for dinner the other night and were blown away by how tasty the meals were. The staff did not greet us or show us to a seat so we just sat down and tried to work out the end and how to order by ourselves, we must have got it right as the lady then came and took our bits of paper and brought our drinks and meals for us. I have got to say that the satay chicken and the lemon grass beef were some of the best Vietnamese dishes I have tried. At first I thought the greens were a little bland, but quickly realised that if I mixed them through with the rice which had a fish sauce through it, that it would be very nice. The meals weren't cheap so I think this will be a treat every now and again.
Kimmy
Yuckkkkkkkk. I don’t often post online reviews but I feel obliged to warn others Not to eat at Miss Chu! We live around the corner from Miss Chu in South Yarra and thought we’d give it a try. I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve been this disappointed with a meal.

Prawn Dumplings – were old and tough at the base. The filling was sloppy and tasteless.

Duck pancakes – a minuscule serving portion made worse by dry floury pancakes.

Warm Vermicelli Noodle salad with lemongrass beef – really lacked the fresh tasty Vietnamese flavour. The vermicelli was overcooked and the dressing/sauce/ nouc mam was awful! It was really salty and over powering. The beef was dry and tasteless.

Satay Chicken with rice and greens – this is the worst dish I’ve ever had the misfortune of tasting! The dish was so overloaded with soy sauce that the rice was black! The menu says “satay” but tasted more like burnt teriyaki.

There is so much good Vietnamese food in Melbourne, don’t waste your time or money at Miss Chu.
Amanda Stephens
I really love Miss Chu in the city. The service and food is always amazing. To be fair the food was still great when I went to the south yarra restaurant, but unfortunately the service was bad enough both times to put me off for life
Mark Goldberg
Really good Viet Cong fare great ambiance and so cheap ...
Gavin Morris
Don't be fooled by the hype. Have been here a couple of times and both times it has been very disappointing . The fit out and feel is great but the food is terrible . We had a stir fry which was nearly all rice and the Peking duck pancake was really dry . So many better options for Asian food .
Morts
Trific!! Fast great food just as we like it

I got takeaway from Miss Chu and it was very average. The tuna sashimi rice paper roll was clearly not fresh and had so much seaweed in it that it was inedible. The buon was okay and the dumplings were reasonable. I will never go back!! 4/10. NE.
Alex
Gone downhill very fast!. Started dining at Miss Chu when it first opened, and was really impressed. However, not long has passed and everything from the service to the food has become so bad that we won't be back.

The staff are rude, and considering the orders are written down for them, they still get it wrong?! They didn't bring one dish, and the other dish they got wrong. No apologies, just surly service and burnt food. Plus, don't pay $14 for a cocktail. They are literally undrinkable. Such a shame for a once good restaurant.
Elmmar
Great atmosphere, food and decor. Staff were lovely! Highly recommend for a cas night out

After being asked to book and come back in 20 then only to be told they don't take bookings and to get back in line: RUDE! when we finally got a seat only 2/4 mains came out and even after asking for it twice it still didn't come! Waiters did not seem to care.
Felix
Terrible! Service is crap, waiters r incompetent. How can you get a order wrong when you mark it on a piece of paper? Well miss chu's did. It seems if you ask a waitress where's my food she ignores u and never come back.

Not worth the money. The noodle salad was ok. The dim sum was awful- Pastry was really thick and not delicate at all as you would expect. Hardly any filling in them either.

The filling of the springrolls are good, but the actual rice paper is very chewy and strange. If you are used to good Asian food, I think you will be very disappointed with this place.

Some of the staff here are nice, but some of them are not. Been here twice cause its close to home, but after trying most of the things on the meny, I will spend my money elsewhere.

This place looks fantastic. We loved every bit of the decor but the food was awful. The peeking duck was microwaved??? It was boiling hot including the cucumber and other vegies and the duck was like rubber. A big let down.
The rest of the food was average and expensive. But I went for the duck and I'm disappointed. And I will give it a miss in the future.

It was good!. We decided to give it a try as the 64% likes didn't seem to quite match the written reviews and we are glad we did. The food was really good! And so was the service and the atmosphere. We had rice paper rolls, pork dumplings, vegie hanoi spring rolls (which were just like we had in Vietnam) and beef with lemongrass and a beer each and our bill came to $49. We both left full and happy so definitely recommend trying as I don't think their score matches what we experienced.

A little bit over priced but great taste. Good place for a quick bite in the afternoon.

Great place. I came here with a friend today and what a surprise....ive never seen anything like it. The place was buzzing, very busy, but staff were still attentive and made sure we didnt have to wait long to be seated. The ordering system is awesome, makes things very easy...and food was brought out fairly quickly.

Food was awesome....id definitely recommend the dumplings! Some of t he dishes could have come with a bit more dressing, even on the side, but apart from that i couldnt fault anything else. Will be back again!
Foodie
Dont que for it. Lets start with the being seated up on the bar and then for the duration of the meal having the blender going in my ear, and not being able to even talk to my friend. Then to top it off having listen to the bar staff in between blending bitching about other staff members. Then the food, well that was just average. I ended up feeling bad for the floor staff after hearing the manger yelling. I know it hasn't been open for long, but the loose ends need to be sorted out before opening to customers.

Ordered over the phone for home delivery.
Was initially told it would be 30 to 40 mins, called back after an hour and waited in the phone for 9 minutes whilst they checked, then told it would be 40 mins to an hour. Just left home for Victoria st. And after waiting 1 hr and 40 mins. I think miss chu and I will never meet. Service is totally totally garbage! I will be telling my friends!!

So Bad never go back. Went to the new miss chu in south yarra on friday night. OMG how bad is this place. service was so below par and the food full of msg even though our waiter assured us they don't use it. The next day i had such a bad reaction i was literally sick all day. The rice paper rolls they're supposedly so famous for where flavourless and really quite expensive. the rest of the stuff is just terrible. Im not sure what this place stands for other than a bit of superficial junk really. its simply not upto the standard we've come to expect. give it a big miss and head to Richmond's real Vietnamese restaurants
Lisa Anderson
Worst place in Melbourne. This place is just plain rubbish. this sydney concept is pretty much a bit of hype with no substance, the service is atrocious and the food pumped with MSG. theres not a self respecting person who rally appreciates decent food that could say this has any wins at all. its run by what seems to be amateurs and some of the rudest staff i've ever experienced. the one positive is getting the bill so we could get out of there as soon as possible
Sophie
I understand that MissChu is based on being a quick and cheap eat - but so is plenty of other great establishments around Melbourne who seem to still be able to keep the service great and actually serve you what you order.
I live next door to MissChu and after four separate incidents will never bother going back, incorrect dishes, baking paper IN my rice paper roll, delivery took over and hour and a half, just to mention a few. The queue isn't worth it and trying to get a waitress to take your paper order is another wait in itself.... Don't even try to order an extra drink. Do yourself a favour and head further down chapel street for your Vietnamese fix from Hanoi Hannah - service and delicious meals everytime!
Disappointing MissChu.
Anna R
The service is terribly unprofessional and the food is average. Sure a cheap and cheerful restaurant you wouldn't expect much but this is another level. I have been 5 times as its at the end of my street but will not go again. The worst was when my bf and I were seated and it took 15 mins for the waiter to take our drink order then we sat for another 30 mins before she came back and told us they had run out of food. We were there for a total of 45mins, it was 9pm, third wk of them opening. Get organised miss chu. I'm sticking to Hanoi Hannah for amazing service and REAL Vietnamese, BBQ pork buns are not even Vietnamese? Confusing!
Minny
I do not agree with the Negative Reviews. This place is absolutely awesome, gorgeous food and fun atmosphere. The reviews give me second thought to come here, but I give it a go anyway and to my absolute surprise, this place is amazing and the price is also very reasonable for what they are offering. Will be coming back for SURE!!!!!!

A good night out.... Great atmosphere; buzzy, happy, a little Asia with a twist. Loved the deep fried spring rolls, the dumplings are soft and tasty and the young coconut ice drink was too easy to drink. Free range chicken certainly makes the difference although some of the flavours are more modern than traditional: the pho a bit salty and the curry a bit bland but all-in-all the favours are great (broader than Vietnamese but easy to appreciate) and the service and venue works well. A new favourite.
Sandra Budge
Love it, so happy to finally have somewhere near work that doesn't serve focaccia's and rolls! The rice paper rolls and the spring roll salads are my fav, but then the lemongrass beef ahh I could go through the whole menu. Sad to see some of the negative reviews considering even on a we'd night u have to queue to get in but definitely worth the wait!
Melbourne Foodie
Just awesome! Best meal out in a while. Great experience!

Another victory of style over substance. The food here is only good if you have no idea what it should taste like. Don't bother.
Katy R
Horrible service...!
Stephw
So much hype, so disappointing! very expensive, and the food was dry and tasteless. Spent $95 and threw most of it in the bin. Victoria street would have been a much better option, 1/3 the price and double the food and ten times the quality! Never going back!!
Anna
Really disappointing food to be honest and a little confused I didn't think Vietnamese made dumplings?? If you feel like pasty flavored pho go to miss chu but my recommendation is give this little disorganized tuck shop a miss....
Ben
Quick cheap and easy, good for a quick meal if your in a hurry. No complaints here.
Miss Mariss
Fantastic value. I'm a regular of the Miss Chu on Exhibition Street and had to try their new restaurant for myself. Personally I thought every element was fantastic, especially the efficient service and beautifully designed space to the flavorsome and affordable food.
We all need to keep in mind that Miss Chu has opened recently and will need some time to find its feet. Melbourne "foodies" can be so judgmental but I guess that's the Australian way.. What would be nice is to see some customers write encouraging reviews on urbanspoon instead of hateful banter. At the end of the day, reviews do not match up with the crowds lining up at Miss Chu's doors. So ignore social media and make up your own mind by visiting yourself. I say its truly worth it.
Steffi Junanto
Just OK. Interior of this place is surely cool, I have never been to the one in the city, but I like this one, it's tiny and buzzing.
We came on a saturday and quite a lot of people lining up despite the poor review on Urbspoon. (only 48% at time of dining)
Personally I’ve never really eaten Vietnamese apart from their pho and broken rice. And so we ordered what’s popular referencing from their city page on Urbspoon.
The rice paper rolls were Ok, too much herbs to my liking, but I think thats how they supposedly made. Then we had dumplings and peking duck pancake which are also standard.
As for the main, pho was way too plain, better go to Richmond or springvale to get a more authentic ones. Beef vermicelli was quite nice, should try as I think thats the most OK dish we’ve tried, and also another outstanding one was their prawn & crab net spring rolls. So crunchy n delicious.
Coconut juice better order the original ones as their “funky” selections do not anymore taste like coconut.
Well, all in all, not rushing back here in a near future I guess.

I haven't eaten in here- just ordered take-away (side note: where I live in St Kilda East is 49 metres outside their delivery zone!) so I can't review the wait staff or in-house service. What I found was an incredibly fast turn around for food (ie: within 10 mins from ordering- virtually ready on my pick up) and the food was delicious! What I will be picky about was the ratio of meat to rice (for $14 anyway) and the crab net spring rolls were cold. Best to order rice paper rolls and maybe vermicelli salad next time. I like Miss Chu - I'm only sad that I can't get delivery and have the hassle of picking it up. But, first world problem, I know!!
Mugsie
OMG!. Finally this restaurant has opened up a little closer to home and the crowds of people waiting outside (don't worry, not all for eat in, as they do take away as well) are testament to the continued success of its menu. Great flavours and so much to choose from, it's all delivered at lightning speed. Loving the tuckshop menu ordering form which enhances the fast and furious ambience created by the loud beats pumping from inside and the chefs who are all jam-packed into the central, and visible kitchen.

Awesome.... Delicious food, Cheap, fast, great spot, fun place... Went there before a movie, had a bite, and took some takeaway to the cinema, what more do you want??
MancinMelb
Great addition to Toorak Rd, funky kit out & great cheap food. Service was slow but all in all a great little place for lunch.

I decided to give Miss Chu a go as it's in my neighbourhood.
I ordered the Pork Buns which were ok, a little bland in taste but still passable.
For my main I tried the Pho which was insipid, bland, tasteless & disastrous. For quiet a few dollars less & with more efficient service my money will be going back to Victoria St Richmond for authentic Vietnamese in the future.

This is the 'McDonaldification' of Vietnamese food I'm afraid.

Dreadful. Hard to review dinner when no dinner was served...........
We arrived to be surprised to be seated quite quickly, ordered drinks and then the wait began,. waited for drinks, then waited to order food, waited, then ordered. The spring rolls and dumplings came fast along with my main, great. but no, i understand the style of miss chu and didnt expect the meals to come out together, i ate mine and my 2 friends waited and waited and waited. no mains ever surfaced for them.
we asked numerous waitesses for the mains but they had no clue how to follow this up or how far away they would be. we were left in the dark.. we then suggested we order one more drink, we did we then waited another 15 minutes, over 1 1/2 hour and a half had now passed and we asked again to be then told another 15 minutes.
we arrived at 7pm and 2 of our party of 3 had not eaten at 8.45pm, despite a que of ppl trying to get a table we were languishing on ours.... we gave up, and when we complained at the end were told there was no manager that could take any charges off our bill to compensate us. then a 'supervisor' walked past and psat 'just make them pay'.
Enough said, dont let the style sway you they have lost the basics
Good On The Fang
The It Crowd. Just goes to show how many suckers there are in this part of town. Don't with a capital D unless you just wish to see what type of crowd slick marketing will bring to a venue. Eat either on your way there or on your way home. Great branding, shame about what counts.
Steve Delaney
Entrees were fine , inedible main courses , far to heavy on the salt . Waitress asked if we enjoyed our meals , told her about the mains , didn't give a rats . Will not be going back .
The Unknown Critic
Love the city miss chu. Fit out does transport you to a little place in Bangkok . But the food , bland bland bland. As they say been there done that.
Sakura
Eh.... Have to agree about disorganised service. Seems like the waitresses would just stand around, talk to each other or the chefs and look out the front window, which made it very difficult to get their attention. They ran out of rice on the night I was there which I found strange for a Vietnamese restaurant, so I was told I'd need to get vermicelli with my dish instead. Fair enough, these things happen; but unfortunately my dish never came. In the end I had to follow up and ask what was going on. Turns out they hadn't put it through the computer and an even longer wait ensued while I watched my friend eat his meal. The food was just okay - certainly not particularly amazing. As a sidenote the the floors and bathrooms were rather dirty. I can understand this when it's busy, but the place was half full and staff were bludging. Won't be rushing back.
Sweet Tooth
Although it was a long wait before our food came, the fried crab and prawn spring rolls were amazing, the rice paper rolls were delicious and it was worth the wait. Also ordered the beef vermicelli which was spicy but could do with more sauce, the chicken curry was good- the meat was soft and potatoes had perfect texture... Would go back again.

Last night Emma asked where was somewhere I had always wanted to eat but had never been and I had just one place in mind – Misschu . And thankfully it lived up to expectations. We ate delicious rice paper rolls, peking duck pancakes, coconut drinks and steamed buns (my absolute favourite!).

If I lived in Melbourne I would hands down be a regular here! We were starving so ordered a bunch of plates to share as well as our own main. We had coconut juice which was perfect as we were still a little hungover and there was fresh coconut sitting in the bottom of the cup! I couldn’t have been happier. The scallop and prawn dumplings were the winner for me. A soft, goey wrapper filled with del opus scallop and prawn and a brilliant dipping sauce which at a guess consisted of soy and sesame oil something else. Perfect accompaniment. BBQ pork char sui steamed pork buns. Delicious. Soft and fluffy just like they should be. A variety of spring rolls, the crispy wrapped ones with crab were a winner. Duck pancakes. Yum. Bite sized happiness. I’m going to say that while the pho wasn’t great it was still good. I was disappointed to be honest. I’m not quite sure what it was, maybe the beef was cut to think or cooked too long? The other dishes made up for the pho though. In fact I didn’t eve
The Juliet Report
My favourite of all the food we tried was the Spring Rolls. I’d definitely love to go back here. The tuckshop was much bigger than it seems from the outside. And incase you were wondering we only paid about $25 each.

There is so much to love about Miss Chu; quirky decor, speedy service and delicious fresh ingredients that provide a cheap and satisfying meal. I highly recommend that you head along to Miss Chu and try a taste of Vietnam right here in Australia, if you are not already a convert like me. Some of my favourites would be the duck rice paper rolls, scallop and prawn dumplings and BBQ pork char sui buns. Tasty, delicious and healthy food all washed down with a refreshing young coconut, pineapple and mint frozen juice. Just try not to feel hungry looking at images like these…

Finally Miss Chu arrives in South Yarra, I've been a big fan of Miss Chu in the city since discovering when I used to work in the CBD. So when I found out that it was opening around the corner from work just before Christmas I was ecstatic! The fit out is very cool - the tuckshop counter at the front and as you wander down the back, tables are lined up opposite the bar with bowls as lamp shades. My friend and I dined in for lunch and got there at 12:15, we got a table quite easily however by 12:30 there were people queuing up. To start with we ordered some Rice Paper Rolls - Satay chicken & Sashimi Tuna. The Sashimi tuna rolls are the most delicious ones, they are filled with japanese seaweed, lettuce and vermicelli noodles. The key to the rolls is the bottled sauce they come with - so good! Next up were the Hanoi Seafood Spring rolls, I much prefer these types of spring rolls to the normal ones as the blistered skin is thinner and tastier. Wrap them up with the lettuce and dip them in
Foodinfocusz
The place was packed, service slick and friendly and the dishes, which arrived without delay, were very tasty.
Foodlovesmymouth
They serve high end Vietnamese hawker food, eat in, takeaway or delivery (order online) - that's why they call it the tuckshop! We saw some delivery bicycles outside the restaurant - so authentic!
FoodieAboutTown
The spring rolls look too good, with traditional Pork Hanoi and then the ‘net’ versions which I love, choose from either Prawn & Crab or Hanoi Vegetarian net, the prawn and crab with the dipping sauce are so good, I could eat a bucket of them!
Glutenshmooten
All of this increases your expectations of the food…expecting an amazing, fresh, Vietnamese meal. And the food was nice. I tried the lemongrass beef salad with vermicelli noodles and it was lovely. My friend however had a rice dish with rice so incredibly spicy it was almost inedible (there was no mention of it being spicy on the menu).

The pros for this place are that there are a lot of gluten free options on the menu, the food is nice, and it’s just down the road from our favourite dessert place, Ganache Chocolate!

Cons are that it’s pretty over-priced for Vietnamese food, although that’s becoming common now and I wouldn’t expect anything less for the area it’s in…and the seating is not very comfortable. Definitely a quick eat and go kind of place.

misschu
