I never come to South Yarra without going here it has the best coffee turkish bread and of course lemon doughnuts

Came here on a Sunday arvo at around 1 for the first time. Learnt that we should’ve came here earlier! All the bread was sold out so we just got ourselves a fresh ham, pickle mustard sandwich and a vegemite twist. The sandwich was amazing! The break was still soft and moist and had a very tasty crust which I’m not usually a fan of. You can never go wrong with a vegemite pastry either. Need to come back earlier for some bread and other sweet pastries.

Pies were pretty good, reasonable amount of fillings and the crust was not too thick 🥧 But the sandwich was a lil let down, was kinda flat in taste 🥪

My friend and I went there on a Thursday wanting some good beef pies but they sold out (our fault, we went there around 2pm). They were already cleaning up for the day but they gladly sat us down by the window so we ordered a pork and garlic sausage roll. It was DELICIOUS! The pastry was buttery, the meat was well seasoned and I really loved the chilli jam they gave to pair with as well. We decided to come back earlier on a Friday but the beef pies had sold out :( one of the staff offered us a frozen chicken pie to take home instead. Upon arriving to the counter, she included an additional free pie and provided instructions on how to heat up the pie as well. We’re definitely going to come back for more - beautiful pies but great service!!
Best pies in Melbourne. Hands down! This was a beef cheek pie with their signature sweet and spicy relish. Yum! They have lots of other goodies as well. Get in early because the pies sell out fast!
If you are looking for a gourmet pie, look no further. This place has great tasting pie at a reasonable price. It can get quite busy during lunch hour on weekdays. They also have a great range of fresh bread, sandwiches and cakes. 😋
Bread oh bread! Love them all we got. Rhubarb Danish. Plain butter crossaint. Cured Salmon on rye. Fabulous place for baking goods. And staff is friendly too.

It's been on our list for a long long time, and finally when we reached (After our brunch), almost everything was over.
So had no option but to grab something from the available choices ( hardly few...Could count on fingers) custard doughnut and blueberry apple pie.

Finally got to try the acclaimed Tivoli Road Bakery. I tried the canele, bundt cake and palmier. Can’t fault any of these. The glazed palmier is really heavenly with the burned caramel.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been intoxicated by the alluring offerings of a bakery. Whether it be a fresh loaf of bread, a sandwich, or just a good ol’ pie, bakeries and I have a special relationship.
It was a weekday morning, when I decided to hit up Tivoli Road Bakery for a sandwich. This popular lil’ bakery has been on my list for quite awhile, and I was curious to see if they’d meet my high expectations.
This place is definitely a winner in the best croissant competition that is currently sweeping Melbourne. Deliciously buttery, flaky, well layered and tasty topped with butter and their fabulous jam I was immediately addicted and have been thinking about them ever since. The coffee is great and the custard donuts are delightful too. Despite the bakery’s tiny size it provides a great atmosphere if you want to sit inside. Nice, friendly staff too.
Most fancy bakery you can find. Only about 20 seats but a wide range of options available: pastries, pies, cakes. Freshly baked pastries and great croissants.
Very nice sourdough bread and pastries!! Visited Tivoli Road Bakery on weekday morning and there were many customers craving their beautiful coffee and bread.
Shop is small but tidy, and has cool decor.
It was a shame that some bread were sold out and there were not many options to choose.
Went here couple of weeks ago to try their beef pie but it was sold out so the girl suggested their chicken and mushroom pie and it was so gewd! I came back on the next day to try the beef pie for the fair judgment and I think their chicken pie is better. A must try!

Wowsers! That pie! I came here last week, but the pies had been sold out. We had eaten one of the chicken sandwiches instead, which was wuite delicious! But today i decided to come back to try one of their pies! I asked the man serving me which one he recommended, and he said the chicken pie. I am so glad i went with his recommendation. It was delicious! My main thought when eating it was OMG. The tomato sauce they give u was delicious as well! And i love the crust!! Yup one of the best pies ive eaten!
Great coffee. Beautiful, beautiful doughnuts. We had a nutella filled one that was so light and fluffy, but oozing with chocolate-y hazelnut-y goodness on the inside.
When I find my self on this side of town early enough I’ll always drop into Tivoli Rd Bakery. A small bakery that is packed full of goodies and amazing bread. The morning bun and mini pear bundt cake are so delicious. Also their donuts are amazing. If you are there early enough grab a mini brioche bun with egg and bacon. Amazing.
Simply the best olive bread in Melbourne! Beautiful hot cross buns and the fruit mince pies at Christmas time are also not to be missed. Busy cafe which would benefit from more seating.
This place is hands down the best bakery for pastries I have come across in Melbourne. Ingredients are quite obviously of the highest quality, fillings on pies/sausage rolls are non conventional and perfectly delicious. Meat to filling ratio is balanced and casing is buttery yet light (is that even possible??)
Only slight downside is coffee not being top notch (though not terrible either).

The caramel doughnut was delicious. I was worried that it'll be too sweet but biting into it I was met with a citrus (sour to combat the sweetness). I could have seconds. The filling was generous. The service was friendly and quick.
Haven’t been to Lune but the best plain croissant ($4.5) and pain au chocolat I’ve had in Melbourne. Pastries larger than average size. More of a modern pastry rather than rustic French.

Especially on weekends, by 13:00 their signature Croissants are gone and they don't bake them any more, strange business concept .....
Just to make us come back for more .... coffee are well made, smooth and above average too; Small Batch and La Marzocco combo.

Often held by the locals as THE BEST bakery this side of the Yarra - Tivoli Bakery lives up to its reputation as the best in the business. My favorite is the Sourdough loaf - all sliced up for you.
Lovely coffee, great bread and the pastries and sweet treats are good too. Come past here every now and again for coffee and a loaf of bread and am always satisfied. Especially in the mornings if the sun is out and I'm sitting in it on the benches out the front :)
Very nice easy going take away bakery. Yammi selection of different pastry and cakes. Very good bread too. Customer attendants a bit overwhelmed and stress to receive complements but no complaints. Food bakery to go that I was look for was absolutely great
I've always wanted to try their sausage roll but it was always sold out, so I came early today. I think it was a pretty good sausage roll overall. I like how there is a sweetness in it because I find sausage rolls too salty sometimes. Also, I think their chicken pies are really good, I recommend. And their coffee? Amazing👌🏼

Their sourdough wasn't the best. It was good, slightly better than woolworths', but it wasn't as good as abacus' (in my opinion)

Like this little place. Really cosy. The hot chocolate is very nice . The bread is legendary and the viennoiseries are very good too.
Had breakfast there and share danishes and fresh baguette and trust me it's worth it !!

Probably one of the best bakeries I've been to - the food here is fantastic! Had the sausage roll and chicken pie: the pastry is flakey and delicious, with the fillings equally tasty to match. Finished off with a caramel donut and pear/brown butter cake which was extremely moist, but not too sweet. The venue is relatively small but it seems like the majority of people get take away, so you should get a seat easily enough. All in all I would recommend this bakery to anybody.

Sandwiches and pies have generous fillings, are fresh and are made with love. I buy the soy linseed loaf sometimes. It isn't too dense and keeps its moisture in an airtight bread bag. The coffee boy offers a genuine smile to most customers. The pastries look like artworks. It just shows that this bakery truly cares about its community. It doesn't set out to make a profit, but instead provides a place to enjoy food and have a coffee.

A great little bakery tucked away in South Yarra. The prices are a little steep - sandwiches are $10.5 each, but seeing as they are delicious and extremely fresh I don't feel too bad about paying this amount. I often get the feeling the pies have been heated for too long, but they have some yummy and not too typical options available. I haven't tried any of the cakes but they look amazing.
The place gets very busy at lunch time and I'm not sure why they don't write down what sandwiches are available for the day on a board, so the staff doesn't have to repeat over and over what's on offer for the day.
Tivoli is sure a popular and busy cafe although it didn't take too long to queue. Got a tray of delicacies for a friend but I got to try one raspberry cream donut myself. It was light and fluffy without being heavy, which made it quite enjoyable. Although I didn't get to taste the rest, by their looks I could tell they're good stuff.

Ordered the roast chicken sandwich. Really enjoyed it. Although, it looks simple but the breads were the highlight of the meal. Breads were made fresh. The chicken goes so well with the garlic aioli.
Love the aroma, taste, texture.
Croissant were alright but really enjoyed the Almond croissant, best almond croissant I had so far.
Financier is amazing. Love the crumbly stuffs on top. Moist and fragrant.
Long black was good. Love the temperature and acidity.
The place is small, but we did enjoy the atmosphere, it felt busy but efficient. You can see people just kept on coming in just to buy the bread.
Will come back again.
WOW - their sausage rolls.. I don't even like sausage rolls and I crave their sausage rolls. The soda bread is also an excellent take on the Irish tradition, hearty with a dash of sweetness. Definitely worth dropping in on for some easy sustenance on a morning.
Ratio decidendi: The only pie in Melbourne that has come close to being in the same league as that of Bakerie in NSW. Buttery and flaky on the outside, with a hearty filling that’s as generous as it is tasty. The eggplant pie was a bit of a letdown but perhaps a case of being a relative failure to its more successful protein siblings. Sandwiches were delish as well but it’s the pies that’ll keep the punters coming back.
Really fresh and quality food. Bread is... well.... amazing. We tried the Sourdough and one of the Multigrain varieties with our sandwiches.

Adorable little sleek bakery serving up high-end baked goods, the croissants are fabulous. Only problem is no bathroom and its location is next to a service station. Good place to drink good coffee and read the paper in peace.
I can't seem to buy anything other than the delicious donuts and creative sandwiches here because they are SO good! Not cheap, but worth it.

Been wanted to try this place for long time, went on Sunday and it was not overcrowded.
They had few tables and chair outdoor as well as indoor. All the bread, pastry and cakes were hand-made by tivoli road bakery, include drinks and soda.
The coffee was good with extra smooth milk foam and decent coffee aroma.
This time, we tried the pie and sausage roll. There were three flavors of pie,included vegan, beef and ham. The filling was tasty with chunks of beef meat and vegetables but the bottom pastry was too hard and dry. The sausage roll was better with flaky and buttery pastry shell and juicy, tasty fillings. It was nice, especially had it with the home made sweet chili capsicum sauce, they were just perfect match!
We ended up ordering a salad to help ease the heavy breakfast :) . Surprisingly the salad was great too with roasted pumpkin, spinach, mint, parsley, cheese, dried berry etc; very nutritious and light.
I just couldn't resist the gorgeous looking doughnuts! We shared one with salted caramel filling. The yeast doughnuts itself was so soft and sponge, the filling was sweet but not too overpowering, such a nice dessert to have~
We would come back for more sweets and try their sandwiches and freshly baked bread to take home next time.
Lovely place for pies, pastries, croissant and coffee. This is one of my favourite weekday breakfast place. Great service and they make one of the tastiest and fresh breads available. Love their beef pie and croissant.... yum
I love this place. I spend a great deal of time thinking about which one of their amazing doughnuts to have.
Recently I went and ordered a 100% Rye loaf, which I don't have the upper body strength to cut. After two slices I'm done until the next day. It's that thick. It's that good.
Their hot chocolates and coffees are good and the granola selection on offer is a taste sensation. I'm yet to actually stay for breakfast but it's on the cards, as soon as I get past the donuts...
Went there around 12pm, and didn't have a lot bakery options left. Choose the lemon curd donut, which is pretty average comparing to the one I tried in Baker D. Plain crossiant is average as well. Little disappointed, might need to go earlier to have more options next time.
My favourite bakery in all of Melbourne. Get any of the home made pies and a bomboloni (mini Italian donuts). If they have the matcha one, it's a must! They also do a salad of the day which has nearly tempted me away from the pies and pastries on many an Occassion. They just look so fresh and good with interesting combinations.
After seeing Tivoli on the list of top donut spots in Melbourne, of course we had to check it out!
Our verdict - while everyone else seems to enjoy the donuts, we didn't so much. Here's why. The raspberry in the raspberry and PB donut was overpowering. Didn't help that the raspberry was also seedy which I understand is a preference rather than taste. As for the salted caramel donut, the sauce was delicious but on both accounts, the taste of the donut itself seemed too buttery.
The big wins in our opinion was the coffee (we had two lattes each) and pie. The beef and stout pie is one of the better pies I've had. The tomato relish that it came with went perfectly. The coffee - 👌🏽
I agree with another reviewer about the service - a little hit and miss for me. Very helpful yet slightly unresponsive especially while ordering at the counter. A simple gesture of a smile can go a long way.
Overall, might come back if I was in the area.

In the pretty, tree lined streets of South Yarra you’ll find the cute little bakery and coffee shop, Tivoli Road Bakery. The space is relatively small but we’ll configured with polished marble floors, a mesh of wood and white. The offerings are what you would expect, mostly just bakery items with some small meals available.
This small bakery is always a pleasure for us. Whether it's for their tasty and unique sandwiches and toast or just for delicious pastries and the great coffee.
This bakery is a gem of the Toorak/South Yarra area. They make excellent bread but also exceptional sweets, like their donuts which come in many flavours (eg. Tiramisu, lemon, etc). The coffee is good and the bakery has a cozy little eating area with timber tables where you can catch up with mates over a meal. The sun floods in through the large shopfront windows. I had the smoked trout on rye bread last time and it was just perfect.
Delicious pastries! Kouign amman - buttery and caramelised well, not the best kouign amman but still very good! Chocolate cookie with halva - very interesting that they added halva, and I love the intense chocolate flavour and chocolate chunks and has a nice chewy texture. Salted caramel doughnut - great dough texture and had a hint of citrus! Bundt cake - nice cake texture and not too sweet. Lastly, the sausage roll is one of the best I've had, the price is a bit steep but it's nevertheless delicious with a slightly sweet & spicy condiment. Needless to say, I'll be back soon! I wanted to try the morning buns but they only sell them during Friday - Sunday. Coffee is not bad too.

I enjoy the sandwich here. The bread use on the sandwiches feel healthy and give an additional element to the sandwich.
I usually drink espresso and like it a bit acidic. The coffee here is just right for my taste.
The donut here is also great. It's not one of those specialty donut store but the texture of donuts here are better than most of them specialty stores. The flavors are a bit limited just 1-2 per weekday.
Best olive bread in the country. NEVER stop making it! Eat it for lunch on weekends with poached eggs twice a week without fail. Caramel doughnuts are the best I have had and coffee is great comparatively to Melbourne which is vital for anyone opening a cafe or bakery. Best bakery in the country I have been to.
Today I had the pleasure of having lunch here.
And I have found a place that does one of the most amazing roasted pork sandwiches ever. No joke. It was absolutely delicious. It was followed by an incredibly fresh and delicious cinnamon custard scrolls paired with an equally delicious skinny cappuccino. I absolutely loved every single thing I had here. Next time I'll definitely buy one of their loaves of bread and have a slice of heaven at home ❤️ highly recommend
Delicious pies and coffee. Nice little shop too. (My Mrs told me to write that but I also agree). Generous chilli chutney to go with. Good selection of sweets as well.
It would be nice if there was better signage as I didn't know what pastries there were or their prices until I asked. Loved the sandwich of chipotle pork belly, crackling, charred corn and coleslaw. The flavours were amazing but being cold, the crackling was rather hard and rubbery. To be honest, the plain croissant was fairly average at best. But the doughnuts were so delicious! The lemon meringe was amazing, which was generously stuffed with tart lemon curd. The prices were really good, and I can see myself coming back for sweet treats or a tasty and filling sandwich. Lunch time is probably too late and I would go earlier to see what special treats they have!
Patisserie vienoisserie heaven. Absolutely delightful pastries, sourdoughs and donuts. Drop in for a coffee and croissant. You won't be disappointed.

Outstanding. Staff are just so relaxed and welcoming, ordered a little bacon egg brioche and a coffee for breakfast, absolutely smashing - beautiful soft moreish brioche bun with a beautifully cooked egg with a lovely capsicum relish - coffee was hot. Everything was served within 5 minutes, I can't wait to revisit and try the sweet pastries

Tivoli has delicious pies and sandwiches, even their desserts are great!! The food here is delicious and the flavour combinations are well thought and unique! A few things though hold me back from giving tivoli top marks.
1. On a number of occasions I've been they have no vegetarian options are available no matter if you go at 11am or 1.30pm - some days they don't make any at all which is disappointing as they are not catering to all their customers.
2. They don't make enough sandwiches or pies to keep up with demand! I've been there a heap of times at 12pm and they have sold out of pretty much every lunch option and their display is empty. With such a long line of customers you would think they would make more to keep customers happy and make more business.
3. Sometimes their service is lacking which is so disappointing as the food is divine! The service at times is not friendly or welcoming and while standing in front of the counter you are ignored until you ask to be served.
I'd love to give this place top marks but think there's a few things to nut out before.
DO: The morning bun, salted chocolate and rye cookie.
DON'T: Forget their always on point sausage rolls, meat pies and assorted sandwiches (pork with crackling ... Drool).
TIP: Park opposite (unfortunately it's paid parking). Sit at the high bench or better yet outside, heaps of doggies to pat.

Follow your nose towards the lingering smell of freshly baked breads and pastries and you’ll soon find one of South Yarra’s most popular haunts, the Tivoli Road Bakery, just a stone’s throw from Toorak Road.
Ohhhh now found a new favourite place. Coffee is the best I have had. Simply divine! My favourite dish is the smashed cannelloni beans with celery and chilli on toast. It is a seasonal dish so not available all year, but my favourite. Have tried their lemon curd donuts and hot cross buns as well. Loved them! Also had some delicious bread, homemade pie and a chicken sandwich. Chicken sandwich is a must try......
The type of place you come to on a sunny breezy day wearing your floral summer dress- highly nostalgic and homely feel with the most seductive and indulgent artisan pastries. Sweet and savory comfort food. The croissants and Danishes (my favorite) come in traditional and modern flavors- with nuts and fruits. The pastries are thick and slightly dense- very sensual to bite! The sweetness is always subtle & balanced. The quality here is always of high standards. I always have to be sitting down when I eat the donuts from Tivoli Road bakery as they make me weak in the knees!! Goose bumps inducing!...

Doughnuts, Fresh breads, pastries, short breads! This Bakery / Cafe is a great place to visit in South Yarra. Highly recommend trying anything that tickles your fancy at this place, its truly a quality bakery with some of the freshest doughnuts and pastries I've ever had, most likely due to the large queue here, forcing them to continuously bake new goods for customers :) - Can't complain. Come here quite often for their donuts . My favorite one is salted caramel, peanut butter is good too. Once they have the spiced pumpkin donuts but it was seasoned limited edition. Love this bakery:)
Very small cafe, parking was super hard to find because it's always busy. Got some doughnuts for takeaway which took me 5 mins, but I spent 15 mins to find parking... The staff was friendly and efficient, couldn't say much about the food as I only tried their doughnuts. The doughnuts were good, but didn't enjoy the vanilla filling very much as it was kind of sour, probably too much vanilla/orange zest. The chocolate was really nice though. Would so love to come back and try other things, too bad the parking is such a pain.
Best bakery in all of Melbourne!! Between the freshly baked treats, friendly staff, and strong coffee - nothing beats this quaint, sweet little corner cafe. It was my local when I lived in the neighborhood and it's the thing I miss most about South Yarra now that I don't. Can't recommend it enough!

We heard that they have the best hot cross buns in town and I must say that they are excellent, especially since we got them straight out of the oven. Pricey, though. $4 apiece and it was odd that they don't have them ready when they open the doors at 7:30am but rather at 8:30. I would have thought that for a long weekend for an obvious in-demand item they would be ready early.
Strongly advise that you order in advance so you don't have to wait in line. I waited about 25 minutes. We also sat down for a coffee and pastry. Both were really lovely.
The only thing about the setting is that there is not nearly enough lighting to read the paper which they do offer for free. With all of that said, I'd be glad to return to try their breads.
I'd heard great things about Tivoli Road Bakery and I've been following them on Instagram for a while. I had the chance a couple of weeks ago to get down to South Yarra and pay them a visit.
I'm a bit of a cafe addict and I'm pretty sure I know a great bakery when I find one. This is the bees knees in my book!!
There was a lovely choice of cakes, buns, tarts and breads coming out of their ovens that was seriously impressive!
It was around Easter time so they were baking some of the best hot cross buns in Melbourne this Easter.
We tried the buns and one of their sublime raspberry tarts and a couple of excellent coffees.
I will definitely be back when I'm over this side of town and can't wait to try out the rest of the menu.

Donuts are sinfully delightful and the chocolate cardamon tart blew my mind. Coffee wasn't all that great, though I didn't come in for that! Definitely a place to go to spoil yourself.
Went to this cafe today on the recommendation of a friend who suggested I try this place. I was going to sit in but it was really quite busy, but the staff were really friendly. Now I love light buttery croissant but today I got a croissant which was good, but not outstanding. I brought a loaf of biodynamic bread, took it home and that was really good, yumm! The loaf had a crispy crust, so good that it didn't need toasting. I enjoyed the bread with some home cooked free range boiled eggs and grilled bacon. Perfect :-)
I think this is the best bakery in this area. Bread, pastries and cafe meals are all delicious and the staff are super chilled and friendly so it's always a nice place to go for a coffee or to just run in and grab a loaf of rye or something.
This of course is total wishful thinking on my part as Tivoli Road Bakery items are so incredibly scrumptious that there is no way that anyone could stop at just one bite.
Sensational bakery / cafe... Highly recommend the granola, topped with fresh figs, berries and yogurt - FANTASTIC - excellent coffee, and a location to sit, relax and watch the day go by.
This place has already become a favourite. A yummy selection of sweet and savoury pastries, amazing breads and great coffee. Just fabulous. My fave has been toast with green and red tomatoes, olives and cheese - just the right amount of filling and beautifully fresh. Highly recommend, if you're around the place!
Great bakery! While not my favourite (La Brioche is in a league of its own), it's hard to fault Tivoli Road Bakery. Their sandwiches are unsuspecting good and pies packed with flavour. It's a little odd when the tomato relish which accompanies the pies are better than the main itself... Lives up to the hype so do yourself a favour and drop by.
I love donuts so I found myself checking this place after I found out that they sell them here. I came in and I really liked the way the place was set up. I would love to come in here when they just baked the breads. That would be an experience. As I saw the cabinet with donuts I started drooling over salted caramel and lemon curd. I also wanted to check out their coffee so I ordered skinny latte. It was passable but I really enjoyed the donuts that I will come back for more.
Tivoli has long been my favourite local bakery. The addition of their sandwiches a while back made me visit even more regularly and now with the fresh, tasty salads - amazing flavour combinations I can hardly stay away :) keep it up guys! 😃
If wanting anything more substantial than a coffee and sweet come after 11am when the sandwiches come out. And the sandwiches are worth waiting for! Chicken and Waldorf sandwich was incredibly filling and the bread was amazing!!! It actually has apple and grapes inside!! The babaganoush and broccolini sandwich tasted even better!!
Cute spot for a pick me up if you're in the area but probably wouldn't venture out to visit.
Came here on a busy Saturday morning, almond croissant and doughnut was delicious. Not many seats to enjoy it unfortunately. Coffee was reasonable too.
Great bakery, the gluten free bread is amazing, and the price is alright $7, the croissants are pretty good, the place is nice, you can seat outside if you want to drink something.

Amongst all the cafes and restaurants it’s reassuring that you can still have a pleasant little bakery in the area. It reminds of a country bakery. The cakes look food and the donuts seem popular but we only had a sausage roll and a pie. Could see us coming back!
This place is a great breaky spot! Amazing pastries and baked goods and the coffee is delicious. The staff are friendly and happy to help with recommendations. Unfortunately it's small so you can't always have your breaky there.
Introducing the new 'Quick Bite' blog posts. These posts are places I have visited at warp speed and only savoured a mere morsel, but I don't want you to miss out. First off the rank is Tivoli Road Bakery. Formerly known as the MoVida bakery (yes, also by the awesome Frank Cammora). The Tivoli Road Bakery is located just off from Chapel street in South Yarra.
Cute little bakery / cafe. Probably best coffee in the strip of shops that it's near.
But that's not the main game. Pastry and breads are awesome. You can also get home made sausage rolls here, that are pretty tasty!
Tivoli Road Bakery is very well known for their hot cross buns in Melbourne, and rightfully so, they are one of the best I've ever tasted! Make sure you come to the bakery early in Easter though because they do sell out fast. Since Easter is a little far away from now, I had managed to find myself an excellent alternative.
Their lemon curd donuts are so delicious that I'm constantly battling with myself whether to buy more than one. A lot of the times as i'm driving through South Yarra, I would make a quick pit stop to get my donut fix. The filling is so smooth and silky. The sourness of the lemon filling is so addictive because they just get it so right! If I can find a car spot, I would hop in and enjoy one with their lovely coffee. I love looking out the window and thinking about how lucky I am to have this lemon curd donut in my life.
The pies and sausage rolls here really manage to reinvigorate your love for these pastries. I tried the famous donuts, wasn't really a fan. Was just a regular donut with a gourmet type cream filling, meh. The pies are awesome though.
10/10 for the Almond Croissants! Absolutely delicious, packed with almond frangipane and a good crunchy topping of flaked almonds.
Crumpets with honeycomb (actually just honey) and labneh were a bit plain and disappointing.

Where do I begin with this place! Wait the cronuts definitely- had them a couple of years back. Encouraged to try the donuts, I was a happy girl- excellent dough, and the fillings were really smooth. I've since made sure I visit this place everytime I'm in Melbourne.
I personally preferred the dry bakes and stuff from their pastry counter to the croissants and Danishes (the escargots were the stand out for me in those) but Melbourne very easily serves croissants better than what these guys do. They had me at the donuts, though.

Will be back! Loved the salted caramel doughnuts and olive bread (got to be quick). Cozy local atmosphere. Would be better if there was proper hot food. It's one of those places where its great if you got one of those few seats, horrible if you didn't, hence I couldn't really give it a higher rating than say for Cafe Gaia.
One of my fav places for coffee and croissant on a Sunday. The fresh baked breads are outstanding. Always a relaxed vibe and a good place to sit outside with our dog and enjoy a moment of quiet contemplation.
Michael James isn’t your ordinary baker. Michael and his wife Pippa, are the husband and wife team behind the famous Tivoli Road Bakery in South Yarra which has people travelling from all over Melbourne to get their hands on their delicious sourdough. Growing up in Penzance in Cornwall, Michael moved to London where he worked for Tom Aikens at 2-Michelin-starred Pied à Terre. Luckily for us, he migrated to Australia, working at Sydney’s Bourke Street Bakery before working in Baker D Chirico and MoVida Bakery in Melbourne as head pastry chef/bakery. Michael and Pippa then purchased the bakery in 2013 and reopened it as Tivoli Road.
I wrote a review for this place a couple of years ago saying the salted caramel donut was delicious, I had one again on Sunday and can confirm it was still amazing! Such a cute place, was very busy on a Sunday just before midday but still got a seat. Had a beef pie, sausage roll (shared) and the donut, amazing. Will be back
Awesome local bakery. Awesome homemade pies and sausage rolls, flaky pastry with proper generous fillings. The salads are always interesting and sandwiches also good. Coffee not bad but bit inconsistent (seems to be improving). Hotbox gets emptied fast on weekends. Recommend
I am a HUGE fan of their doughnuts and cronuts! Their doughnuts are seriously craaay especially the salted caramel ones. It is actually like a classic jam doughnut only with better dough and filings. Also their cronuts are so much better than Zumbo, because it is not too oily IMO. It's a shame though now Tivoli only sell their cronuts with minimum orders.
Their caramel banana & coconut muffin ($4.5) was very nice as well, though the desiccated coconut was more evident than the actual muffin and the caramel was quite subtle. Otherwise, the muffin was moist and I enjoyed the banana taste without having to eat chunks of un-mashed banana.
There is something uniquely comforting in a bakery. Tivoli is where bakeries go to die. This heaven on earth for bakeries was originally the base for MoVida's provision of breads and pastries for Frank Camora's empire of eateries.
Great place for a pie, coffee & bread. Drop in here if you get the chance. There usually isn't much room to sit, but I recommend the pies and their bread is delicious. I'd also eat their doughnuts if I wasn't watching my weight. Thank you!
Amazing sourdough. Grabbed a loaf at the Flour Market in fitzroy on the weekend and it is delicious. Best sourdough I have ever had

Definitely improved. After some teething issues upon the transition from MoVida to TRB, this place has really settled into its groove. Service is much friendlier and efficient, and the quality of sandwiches is much better. Pastries are ridiculously tasty, though a little overpriced. One of my local favourites now.

Gone downhill. This place has really gone downhill since it changed hands from MoVida. No decaf coffee (ugh, not good enough for the coffee snobs?) and horrendously overpriced items for what they are. I've got no problem paying a premium price if the food matches the hefty tag, but $10 for a "chicken sandwich" that tasted only like the bread it was on was ridiculous. Teeny tiny crumbs of cake cost upwards of $4. The service at MoVida was tepid at best, but this place is really awful. The lines that snaked around the entrance seem to have disappeared too. I live right across the road and would rather walk an extra five minutes for a decent drop. Pick up your act, TRB.

No Dossant!!!. Went in at 7:45am on a Wednesday specifically to try their famous dossant and was disappointed to be told they are not sold retail anymore and that you need to put an order in for 12 or more. Had a mini brioche bacon and egg burger instead, was quite nice. Coffee was good also.
Perfect croissant. Hubby and I decided to stop here for brekkie Saturday morning. I had the ham cheese & tomato croissant and loved it. I usually have a super heathy breakfast, but when I do indulge, I want the good stuff. This was great and totally worth it. The coffee was also delicious and the staff very helpful and friendly.
Nothing can be definitively acquired; everything must be done all over again every day. The best bread in town Great coffee excellent croissant I will definitely be back
Delicious.. Came here to try there famous dossants, was not disappointed. Salted Caramel Donut was delicious, the pastry was so good not to oily or greasy and the caramel filling was sweet but not to the point were it was sickly. There was also plenty of filling. Very much enjoyed, will be back to try more flavors. Service was fast and polite.
Was served by a wonderful ginger man. Will certainly be returning. Four stars.
Really liked it. The doughnuts are phenomenal and the olive bread is one of the greatest things ever. Service was great yesterday - a really friendly environment and all the staff looked like they were having fun.
Such a nice spot off the main drag. Coffee n croissant were both lovely, we had good service and it was busy. If you are worried about it bring slow go early rfe food is worth it!

Well worth the trip across the river. The croissants are amazing and I could live on the lemon curd donuts. Thankfully fairfield farmers market isn't too far away for me to get my fix!
I don't quite understand these reviews in light of the fact that the issues they speak of existed as much under the Movida name as they do now.The only thing I think has changed about this bakery is the signage. Still great bread, and the staff are no more or less friendly and efficient than they were previously. If anything there is less wait time for coffee than before despite it still being quite busy. The tasty bread is what keeps me coming back every Sunday!
Best sourdough bread in Melbourne by far, forget the others. All bakery goods a delight-yum! Movida signage removed now, hopefully quality remains the same. Give the coffee a miss-consistently weak and watery.

Been here twice in the last week! One word AMAZING!! I have had many pies in my time and this IS Melbourne's best pies easy (2nd best in the world behind FergBakery in Queenstown) Lamb is the best, but chicken and pumpkin has to be tasted! Great sausage rolls as well!
Update 2019- they regularly have limited stock which sucks, and my recent ones the pastry was soggy and undercooked and they fell

Tivoli Rd replaced Movida on this site a few years ago. Whilst the quality of the food has remained consistently high, service quality had picked up (see 2012/13 review below).
On my most recent visit, the food repertoire had also expanded to include sandwiches on white or seeded TR bread, as well as a daily salad ($10.50 each). Mine was a yummy green bean, sugar snap pea, radicchio, walnut and goat's cheese one, seasoned well and studded with currants. Although it was a filling lunch, l couldn't resist one of the traditional hot cross buns ($4). Lashings of spice, juicy fruit, tart candied peel and a delicious sourdough base make this one of the best in Melbourne. Even better when toasted and spread with butter!
My lunch was takeaway but the staff taking my order were pleasant and friendly - the best and most significant improvement from the snooty and condescending approach of the Movida days.

Excellence in food is often about balance of different aspects and approaches. At Movida bakery, the quality of products is not matched by the service. For example, the wonderful sweetness of the pear or rhubarb danishes with vanilla custard, the glorious pain au chocolat and the delicious doughnuts are heavily outweighed by the sourness of the staff. After a handful of visits with a variety of friends, the experience has been the same - takeaway orders just as bad. Such a pity but as there are plenty of customers anyway, l can't see this improving.
Great little place.. The bread is fantastic, the sandwiches are great (for under $10) and the coffee is good, couldn't ask for much more really. But wait there is more, just try the salted caramel donuts, a little pricey but worth it.
I think I like that they do simple food well and at a reasonable price. Obviously there are cheaper bakery's for a pie or a sandwich (Ntran), but for a dollar or two more, you get something really good.
Four times now.... And all good.... I just love stalking a new place to get a real idea of their wares before I make a judgement. I find all the 'bad' service reviews hard to believe, unless they've upped their act, and coffee has been high standard each time I've been in. I've made a point of going different days and different times, and food seems to vary quite a bit...ie baked salmon sandwich at lunchtime, and scrambled egg bruschetta-y-thing at breakfast. Bread absolutely fabulous...salt crust on the white sour dough just sets it apart from all other 'artisan' bread around at the moment. My one and only concern is that there is never a huge amount of food on display, but I guess at least that means that what you get is very fresh!
Stopped in for a cuppa & a babycino with Miss 2. Tried the lemon donut - just heavenly! The staff were very friendly & sweet. Will definitely drop in again :)

Fantastic friendly service was the most outstanding feature of movida bakery. the salted caramel doughnut, was nice but not enought caramel filling, also had the pear and almond cake which was juicy and a great price at $5 per slice. Not any vegetarian savoury items on the menu but the sweets make up for it. Would visit again but not in a hurry
Popped in for a loaf of bread and walked out with a coffee and croissant also. Croissant was delicious and the coffee devine..!! Am visiting for this combo again..!!

Croissant + Lemon Curd Doughnut Tivoli Road Bakery is one of the closest, walkable bakery from home. So if I am looking out for something easy, this is where I would go. Their doughnuts are impeccable. The Lemon Curd and Salted Caramel are the popular ones. It was just full of fluff but filled with melted lemon cream within. The croissant on the other hand was perfectly baked as well. I requested for any jam and they gave me a full jar of raspberry jam. Of course I assumed its not a jar for you to conveniently take home, and I still don't know why they serve it to me at such a huge serving. It would be such a waste if they threw it after I use it, and it would be unhygienic to serve the same jar to random strangers. I am still confused, but definitely glad I got a newly opened jar that was sealed from before I use it. 5 Grain Bread I love multigrain breads on it and this one had five different grain types. I reckon its better to have it with something savoury. I had mine with avocado smash, ham and egg, multiple times. When I am really lazy, Nutella still do the deed. That reminds me, I just finished a jar of my 1kg family pack Nutella a few minutes ago. Time to head down to Woolies to restock before it closes in a bit, catch you guys later. On my last day I took my Uncle for a cheeky morning treat at Tivoli Road Bakery in South Yarra. I had heard so much about the oozy doughnuts so it only seemed fair to get one of each and try them out.
When my friend and I arrived at 10am at Adriano Zumbo’s Patisserie initially, it wasn’t that busy, an hour later after having lunch just a couple of stores down, the place was just buzzing with people. I can’t even begin to imagine the number of people yet to come and how busy it gets on the weekends. What I first noticed about the patisserie were the psychedellic neon lights and the very modern almost nightclub bar scene like mirror walls of the shop. Definitely not your conventional modest patisserie with its vast white and modest coloured walls. The fairy floss themed chairs are a good novelty but not very practical considering its white, will dirty easily and I doubt staff will be cleaning them that often. The table was covered in this rubbery layer of paint again, not my kind of thing. Shop design aside, the pastries looked amazing. The Zumbaron display was cutely grouped together while the range of cakes on display certainly had it’s artistic quality to it. I’m really tempted to

Even luckier is that they have lemon curd donuts!!! For those who knows me will know that I LOVE LEMON CURD anything. That being said I have had lemon curd donuts which are super sour and I didn’t like it. But the one Movida Bakery made is da shytz. Soooooo wanted to shove another ten in my mouth. Yum.

MoMo & Coco's "Guide to Doughnuts in Melbourne" -- hurry in for peanut butter, rhubarb, dulce de leche and bacon infused doughnuts at Movida Bakery.
The hearty chunks of lamb inside were soft from braising and delicately flavoured, and even the bottom of the pie managed to stay crispy. I would have liked a little more gravy in the pie, but the excellent pastry is sufficient compensation.
In any case, Movida Bakery is a great addition to South Yarra - despite the star status of the Movida name, it exudes neighbourly charm and the gunny sacks of organic flour that compose part of their decor make me feel a little less guilty about all the carbs I'm consuming. I look forward to trying more of their goodies in the ensuing months.

We're a little bamboozled by the array of treats on offer at first, staring slack-jawed at the huge display of cakes, tarts and pastries in the window.The doughnuts call out loudest though, especially with their fillings spilling out the top like leering tongues. The salted caramel doughnut is saved from being overly sweet but the lemon curd doughnut wins my heart. The doughnuts themselves have an enviable fluffiness, with just enough sugar around the outside to make a delicious mess.
Absolutely gorgeous pastries. Found this place when I was doing a mystery picnic experience. The locals obviously knew about this place as it was quite busy. Would definitely come again
I go here very often as my local bakery and the bread, sandwiches and pastries are always great. Pretty suss on a gourmet sausage roll though, i prefer the ones from the servo! Only reason for 4 stars is because it opens quite late for a barkery.

Was told that this bakery does the best pies in Melbourne and that is the 100% truth. I had the beef pie and it’s heavy in your mouth. Well worth the money spent. Will definitely be adding this bakery to my morning walks.

I come here fortnightly for breads, palmier and the weekend specials. Never disappointing, staff are lovely (especially at the early hours!) and coffee is good too.
