Review Leonards House Of Love - Yarra

Irena Miljko
This is one of our all time FAV places in Melbourne. I used to come to this bar in the old days. They’ve done a great job doing it up into a cool laid back casual rock bar. Their burgers are amazing. It’s all in the patty and their sauces. And as you know we are all about dog friendly places - you can take the pooch with you. How good is that! My only gripe - they keep running out of potato gems and it’s one of the only reasons why I want to go! 😂 They’ve been off the menu/out of stock about 5 visits now…..please keep them stocked up. 👌🏼

Ordered all the habenaro sauced ones as I like my food spicy. Delicious :D Good selection of beers both on tap and in tins. Very nice atmosphere both inside and outside

Impeccable cocktails, deeeelish food, great service! Loved it, highly recommend!! 😍 Only request - turn some of those cheese curds into Poutine! 😉🤤😍 PS: the beyond meat veggie burger was to-die-for!

Always the best food. The best crowds and the best staff! I love this place more than my own house - so if you aren't having any of this amazing food or beverages here; you're wasting your money at the wrong place!

Really loved the vibe of Leonard’s on a Saturday night including the fire place and pool table. Unfortunately the food was a huge let down with my vegan burger being on an ?attempted home made bun or maybe it was gluten free? it was dry and unpleasant. Very greasy burger, cheese and sauce combo. Mushroom gravy on the fries really bland. Okay for a beer but wouldn’t come back to eat again

Cute ambience great service. The chicken sanga was tasty and juicy, curry mayo slaw is an interesting touch. Burger is underwhelming. Idk how that fries are worth $16.

Reminds me of a bar in old westerns. Love the drinks, staff and food selection. The poutine and fries with cheese and mushroom were so delicious that we finished it and I forgot to take a photo

There’s nothing like a Leonard’s feed to soothe the stomach and soul. Here’s my cheeseburg and popcorn chicken from last night. This place is the best and encapsulates Melbourne vibes so well. Whenever I have friends visiting I take them to Leonard’s.

Been to this place many times in the past year moving to Melbourne. One of the coolest places to hang. Staff are always top notch Walker and Steve always make my wife and two young boys feel very welcome. A must to go if you come to Melbourne. And food is great just to top it off.

I generally don't like giving bad reviews as my first experience at Leonards was pretty good but my experience there last weekend was terrible. I went there with a group of friends to get dinner on a Saturday night and what started as decent night with some delicious mulled cider went downhill fast. Now let me say I understand the time we were dining is prime dinner service, I should know I've worked front of house for several years but waiting 45 minutes for a burger and fries with no prior acknowledgement is not acceptable. I ordered 15 minutes after my friends and their food came out in a reasonable time but the time between their food and mine was excessive. At one point my friends asked if they had lost my meal. Now when I raised it with the apparent manager that 45 minutes was an excessive wait, I was bluntly told that everyone knows there's a wait which honestly is not an acceptable response from anyone in the service industry. All I wanted from the manager was some apology and acknowledgement that the wait was ludicrous. If I knew the wait was that long I would have eaten at the other bar our party was planning on visiting rather than waiting what felt an eternity and hastily shoving food in my mouth as my friends awkwardly watched. The real kicker is that the food was only ok. It's not hard to find a quality burger in Melbourne and whilst I enjoyed the idea of charcoal chicken fries the cheese sauce and gravy had a floury taste and slightly grainy texture as the sauce had not been cooked out enough. Will the review impact this place? Hell no, as their cliental is primarily middle class yuppies that care about being seen and going to 'trendy' places and not actual service and quality goods and will just read my review as some bitch whinging

Leonard’s you ol heartthrob you! You definitely are a house of love! Hubby and I decided to finally come in for dinner tonight and we were not disappointed. The place looks amazing and feels warm and cosy. Loved the cool things to look at in every corner. Great atmosphere, fun yet relaxed vibes and the staff were so freakin lovely! Thank you for working hard but for still having a smile on your faces We chose the Leonard’s lager which was just what we needed after a long day and hunni mmm mmm. Can we buy this to take away? We ordered cheeseburgers, eggplant tenders and popcorn curds and holy shitballs, all so juicy, full of flavour and just an all round delish. Really good quality hearty food that warmed our bellies nicely. Thank you guys! Thanks for not being another overpriced dump and caring about good food and good vibes. Hope to be there for your 3rd birthday on Sunday! Xx

Our local. The burgers (fried chicken) are the best around and the staff are so friendly. Love that we can pop in for a drink and a feed with our dog.
Leah Dangersmith
The best burgers off Chapel! A cosy little pub that is dog friendly and friendly bartenders. 100% will be back. If you're on the fence, come in. You'll love it.
Kate Louise Ballantyne
Was really looking forward to this place and everything was great except the chicken, unfortunately that is what I went there for. Staff were attentive and friendly, cocktails were great and the chicken coating, chipotle mayo and mash and gravy were delicious! Was disappointed to see no chicken on the bone options as the tenderloins were so dry. If there were options of both tenderloins and wings/ drumsticks/thighs I think I would try it again, but until then I would give it a miss if you going solely for fried chicken.

Country pub in the city. The security staff we encountered were great. Awesome vibe, amazing food. Very special!

Holly batman. My first dining experience in Melbourne!! Best food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely be going home to Brisbane and recommending this place to all my friends who visit!

Yuuuummmm yuuummmm yuuummmm best burger ever, will now be a regular

Really cool place, great music, great bar and interior and smoking area. Would of given it 5 stars however was charged 10 bucks too much on my card for 1 beer and 2 shots. Should have been 28 not 38, paid on my card and guess I should've got a receipt but who asks for receipts on a night out? I'm sure it was an honest mistake, will go again if I'm in the area...

Second time I've been now just to make sure the first time wasn't the exception. We had the pop corn chicken, spicy tenders on the first visit which were superb. This time we had the burgers which were excellent. Will definitely be back to play pool, sit by the fire drinking beers, cider and Whisky with some top notch food.

I have visited this restaurant plenty of times, possibly the best burgers in Melbourne I have ever had, however the staff that work at the restaurant are very arrogant, they seem to always serve tables with people who are not of colour first and visit their tables much more often than my table (people of colour). At first I thought it was a one time thing, but I have been to this place over 10 times and each time the staff seem to ignore us when we try and call them to order, they are slower to take our orders than other tables, which have people who are not of colour. I think the burgers and the food are absolutely fantastic and this place should get 5 stars if it wasn't for the arrogant and racist workers.
Located just off the famous Chapel Rd, was introduced to this place by my friend.

Tried their famous burger & it absolutely blew my mind, so good & satisfying 🍔

🗓 Visited in April 2018

Leonard’s has some good fried chicken. Their spicy chicken wings are actually spicy and dressed in some tangy, smokey sauce (potentially Worcestershire sauce - not too sure). Their sides are pretty good as well: the chicken loaded fries and mac n’ cheese were well balanced, while the curry coleslaw could’ve been a bit less sweeter.

In terms of environment, the venue is a dark, rustic bar full of old memorabilia. It can get quite crowded in there, but the service is pretty decent. However, like most old bars, it does smell like old alcohol which is a bit of a turn off.

I don't normally leave reviews for food but Leonard's House of Love is an absolute standout for me. Ordered the vegan burger and vegan chilli fries and was blown away. Delicious, hearty and meaty (yes a weird expression for vegan food). Not to mention the atmosphere of the place is really laid-back and homely. It is a pretty decent experience eating delicious food with 70s rock blaring in the background. Will be back many times in the future!

Great service and amazing food everytime! Really cool, laidback set up! Dog friendly with beer garden, inside bar and pool table. Always really friendly staff and fast service.
The food is amazing. One of the best beef burgers you can get in Melbourne! Also love their hot habanero chicken thigh;amazing flavor and heat!!
Definitely recommend this as a go-to place for amazing burgers and cool place for drinks! Will keep coming back!

Awesome, warm vibe at Leonard's - the name is definitely not false advertising! The burger is great - mac and cheese was a little basic, but it was still delicious!

Mozzarella balls, Mac & cheese and nachos. I mean what’s not to love. It’s proper drinking food. Treat yoself. Good vibe, music and crowd.

Leonard's has all your Friday favourites. A good selection of burgers but really everyone goes there to get the fried chicken burger. And all the usual suspects for sides, chips, tater tots, onion rings the lot.

Great place for a team lunch or for some drinks on a Friday arvo.
Vostok
The food is amazing and well priced. Definitely one of the best beef burgers I’ve had in Melbourne. I highly recommend the chicken tenders too.
Chameleon
Best cheeseburgers in Melbourne! Fried chicken is good too. Good atmosphere. Waiters/ waitresses are generally great. Every now and then you get one that seems completely disinterested in their job and acts like it's a chore to serve you, but most are great.
Prajakta Pawar
Been here couple of times.. love the atmosphere here and the ambience. Just what you need sometimes. Live music, chilled beer, games and little something to eat and a good company! Sometimes it gets too crowded but overall good experience so far!
Jasmine
Leonaed's beef and short rib patty was amazing. It's an unreal moment when I can comment on the actual distinct flavour of a patty... 🥰

Ordered:
🍔 Cheeseburger: Beef brisket & short rib patty, American cheese, burger sauce, pickles & lettuce ($12.00)
🍟 Onion Rings (vg)
🍟 Tex Mex Fries (vg) (gfo): cheese sauce, guacamole, coriander & salsa with jalapenos ($15.00)

Review:
Amazing price. Cheeseburger buns were perfectly toasted where there was a notable crunch with each bite and the decadent patty warms you right up. Close to an absolutely perfect burger!!

The fries were also fantastic. Onion rings were amazingly crunchy, where we squabbled over the last one.
Tex Mex fries is different from your regular loaded fries. Instead of giving you that heavy filling, the cheese sauce, guac and coriander all leave a satisfying light experience. Really rated it!
Make sure you eat the Tex Mex first - cold cheese sauce sucks regardless of the filling.

Service was engaging and fun. Highly recommend Leonard's house of love! Even though the name might turn a few heads 🤣.

What a cute vibe! It has a ski-lodge in the 70s feel and is super cozy.

We got 2 cheese burgers, the fries with cheese and gravy and the orginal tenders.

The burger reminded me a lot of mcdonalds, im not sure why. It definitely tasted better than mcdonalds, but i still felt a bit gross eating it.

The original tenders were delicious, but the best part for me was the chips with gravy and cheese.

The atmostphere was great, but i think the burgers might be a bit overrated.

Visited Leonards House of Love in South Yarra earlier this year with my friend!

ATMOSPHERE:
The inside feels like an old western bar movie almost, I enjoyed the mood lighting and the decor (old memorabilia)

FOOD:
We we're ready to eat a feast and so we ordered plenty to try as much variety as possible...
- Cheeseburger
- South Side Fried Burger
- Onion Rings
- Mac n Cheese
- Cheese n Gravy Loaded Fried
- Hot Apple Cider

REVIEW (5/5): 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I had been meaning to try out LHOL for quite some time after positive reviews from friends so I was super impressed when it lived up to the standard. The food was OUTSTANDING, cooked perfectly and very tasty! The drink special: hot apple cider was delightful. Would recommend this place to anyone who loves burgers! Can't wait to visit again soon. 🤩
Linda
Who doesn’t love fried chicken!! And they do it well here. The tenders are juicy with a tangy spicy sauce. The burger bun is light and sweet, the burger patty edges are smoky and flavoursome. Mac and cheese couldve had more flavour, but the onion rings are crispy and large. Some onion rings are oily and heavy. Service is great. Cool place with hipster vibe.
Quince And Cheese
I always feel right at home every time I visit this American drinking and dining hole. Their vegan burger is incredible, albeit pretty greasy. But it's a great dish to line my stomach before I start downing whisky. If you're drinking anything else when you visit Leonard's (except maybe a beer), you're doing it wrong. I also have a soft spot in my heart for those fried eggplant spears.
Rin
Ordered a mushroom burger, double cheese burger, southern fried chicken burger and hot glazed tenders for 4 adults via ubereats. Food was very fresh and tasty. Will be dreaming of the tenders until I have them again. Soooo good! Price is pretty reasonable too.

Burgers - SAVOURY PILLOWS OF GOODNESS .
Fried Chicken - COMFORTING AS A DOONA .
Drinks - EVERYWHERE .
Service - RAW BUT GENTLE
Pool Table - ADDED BONUS .
Recommend .

The place have a good vibe but the service is just bad! They’re Very racist against asians and foreigners! I went there with my mates after work and they refused to sell us drinks with me being Australian . No service at all

Many will know, I am a sucker for fried chicken. Therefore it should come as no surprise that when I heard there was a great burger and fried chicken place, I had to try it for myself.
The venue is spacious with ample seating both inside and outside. Being a lovely day, my partner and I chose to sit outside under a big tree, and with a view into the kitchen. Staff were attentive and courteous.
I ordered the hot chicken burger while my partner got the south side fried burger, and we also got the loaded crispy potato skins and original tenders. Despite being a busy evening, food came out relatively fast. The hot chicken burger was indeed, HOT. It really packs a punch and I who had ordered it while looking down at its spice level thinking my Korean-Kiwi heritage would surely be enough, I quickly regretted my decision. Despite the heat, I still found it tasty. Easing my tongue thanks to my cocktail, the tenders, the fries and my biggest saviour; the pickles. The chicken tenders and fries came out crunchy, with the sauces for both complementing them nicely. The tenders were pretty dry though.
I tried a few bites of the south side fried burger and it was also delicious. Like mine, but without the kick.
All in all, a solid option for food and drinks with friends!
What dreams are made of this place I rate as the best burger in Melbourne having tried over 100 places. What sets them apart is the exquisite beef patties on offer combined with a subtle but satisfying special sauce. Also tried the popcorn chicken and tenders during this visit which were up to the standard. A must visit for burger lovers in this city.

Yeeeweewsssssss! Love ya guys!

Some of the crowd is a bit wanky but all is forgotten when your sitting in front of a nice pile of burg. Love the 70’s lounge room set up, perfect for sitting off the Sunday blues in.

Will be back and will back often. Miss you already x
Kim
Leonards house of love had a food truck at download festival. I ordered a vegan burger and it was delicious! It was a really meaty type one. Though was really slippery needed something else in there to keep it together iunno.. Or don't put the aioli and the cheese in the same layer. But I'll definitely come visit the restaurant some time, I hope they have more vegan options there!

Ordered through Uber eats!

Tenderloins and Mac and cheese! The tenderloins were delicious so juicy and the dipping sauce and pickle that comes with it are amazing!

Mac and cheese was good!
Jude D'Souza
Came here for their hyped double cheeseburger. It was a good burger, no doubt. Creamy, cheesy and had some flavour to it.

Additionally to this, ordered popcorn chicken and Coke Zero. The popcorn chicken was average at best and the Coke Zero was flat.

On top of this, the customer service seemed fleeting, didn’t get served for a while, ended up walking to the server to get my order. You also can’t eat in the smoking area, which was odd. What happens if I want to enjoy a bowl of chips while having a smoke.
I’d probably give this place 3.5/5 tbh.

It is ~48°C in Melbourne and I have just posted my delivery order to Leonard's House I'd love.. Two orders of chicken tenders: one Regular, one Hot And Glazed. The weather has my face hot and glazed ha ha but my tummy cried out for a bit of that treatment too ;)

Ubers Eat mind you, these Tenders will be coming in a car. This is a live review and when I am assigned Uber Driver I can tell you more about the car.. But for now? We wait..

Interesting news just in.. These tenders are are coming on a bike, numberplate 2F*** (redacted for privacy). What I wouldn't give to feel wind though my hair. If you're going to be safe on a bike please wear a helmet.

Just behind a picket fence in a side street off Chapel lies Leonard's House of Love. A grungy 70's inspired dive bar hosted by bearded hipsters serving an array of misfits, roustabouts and chillers. Offering American comfort food staples including hot chicks, dirty dogs and greasy buns this is one heck of place in South Yarra with an Ozark meets Pulp Fiction vibe....

THIS PLACE IS THE BEST! Their constantly open arms towards my dog constantly has me weak at the knees. If you want your pooch to be appreciated, this is the place to go. Sweetwater Inn is no longer, but Leonard's House of Love took over the travesty that was Tryst and Sweetwater's legacy lives on. The kitchen pumps out a range of incredible southern American food (there's even a veg burger option), and the short wine list will cater to all. There's a roaring fire indoors in the winter - the perfect date spot to hang with your hound. Thanks for always looking after us when we come in (and for the never-ending supply of dog treats (except for that time when the ants marched in and ate them all) - my pooch talks about you guys constantly!).

Terrific atmosphere. Even on a Tuesday night this place was buzzing. Bar service was quick for a busy place. Cocktails were delicious, the perfect strength and had nice touches like fresh berries and mint.

Shame I can’t rate this place 10 stars... where do I even begin! A fantastic outdoor setup with the smell of friend chicken in the air. No other place has had me more satisfied while sinking a cold beer and double beef burger. Was I in heaven?? Who cares, I’ll be back!
Donita
I’d like to give 4.5 stars.. I’m not a burger eater but I got chicken burger and I’m in love with it’s juicy fried chicken, cheese and the bun. It’s worth to try if you’re in the area.
Jenny Jenno Allen-opoulos
Best burgers, best chicken tenders, best loaded fries in Melbourne! I absolutely love the vibe here... it’s super cool, chilled and totally unpretentious. What set them apart from other bars in Melbourne is that it’s totally dog friendly! Our pooch got to enjoy the evening as it was her bday night! Thanks for having us!
Melbourne Foodie Memoirs
This is a great place to catch up with friends over a drink and fried chicken. The chicken tenders and so crispy and delicious. The hot sauce was not as spicy as we expected but still tasty nevertheless. Even the pickles that come with it are great. It can get busy but it’s worth it!
Jennifer
I loved the ambience and vibes. Though it was loud it was loud in a good way. Although I couldn’t finish my hot burger chicken I had a great time. The hot chicken burger is really really spicy like really. The staff were also very friendly :)
Chanel Zhang
The food & vibe are great. Happy hours by 7pm from memory. We had a jug of beer and ordered a burger and nachos to share. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Tinmans Treats
I was curious by this place because it is also the name of one of my favourite songs by East 17.

I had the fried chicken sandwich. I enjoyed that it was on white sandwich bread. Brought me back to the 90s. In a world where brioche is king, it's nice to see white bread. The chicken itself was juicy instead and crunchy on the outside. I really enjoyed it. The onion rings were pretty good.

You wouldn't find this place walking down chapel street, but enough people know about this place. It's very Melbourne to seek your food, and people should seek this house of love.

Kyah English
Great vibes and even better burgers! This place won't disappoint. Highly recommend their 'Hot Chick' burger, juicy chicken thigh grilled in duck fat but be warned this thing packs a punch!

Best cheese burger and southern fried chicken burger I ever had so far in Melbourne. Varieties of craft beer. Friendly staff, lovely place. Highly recommended.
WillAfon
One of the best burgers in Melbourne. Ive been here multiple times and every time it has delivered. Don't be turned off by the grungy venue, the food is amazing. Definitely recommend getting the double cheeseburger, the balance is perfect and the beef is so flavoursome. 10/10 would bang

Love the vibes of this place. Quality burgers, patties blushing slightly pink in the middle so you know they mean business. . hot chicken wings, washing it all down with cold beers. Magical. I feel the love.
Jen Waterpear
Awesome cozy place. Tried going last week on Saturday but no dice, filled to the brim and had security guys outside that made me slightly uncomfortable since it's not a nightclub. Seems fairly normal here when I walked down chapel though. My husband and I were eyeing this place for a while, finally went in price was great, portions were great, everything tasted good but beware of how filling it is as you'll have to roll home. Being Canadian, the fries really reminded me of poutine, and were definitely the best thing we ordered. Get those damn chicken fries guys.
Gonna be back, just not on Saturday night!
Michael Tham
They play really awesome rock music. Shazamming every second song. Hamburger was decent. Hot wings super hot. Super casual bar vibe, a bit dingy but it’s part of the charm.
Natashja Bartlett
We were served by a lovely fellow with a beard - he was so welcoming and jovial, and made us feel so accepted there. That guy deserves a raise please ;) what a stand up guy!
Brandon G Jawi
The burger was so good but WARNING it is quite spicy and it may seem to be oily but it’s actually the duck fat that’s glazed onto the crispy and spicy friend chicken. We also had a refreshing jug of Young Henrys Pale Ale. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely go back for more!
Debby
Great little bar tucked away behind the hustle and bustle of Chapel St. We tried their cheese burger and chicken wings. The burgers are oily and pretty average. The chicken wings is a little hot and have this nice crunch on the coating. Great place to have a drink with outdoor seating.
Kate Dougherty
Great option if you’re looking for a venue with a cool, unpretentious vibe and American style burgers and fried chicken. I went for the hamburger with bacon. Very generous in size and super tasty. The Bloody Mary’s are also a winner here and you can even customise your perfect level of spice. Handy side note- very dog friendly if you’re minded to bring your canine companion along.
Picolas Cage
Go for the beers, stay for the food, then stay for more beers. Then roll home and sit on the couch in your jocks, happy as Larry.

This is my favourite bar in the South Yarra/Prahran/Windsor area for multiple reasons, however purely talking food, I'd vote this the best cheeseburger in all of Melbourne. If you like your burgers simple in ingredients (think patty, cheese, sauce, pickles, lettuce and bun), yet rich in flavour, Leonard's is it. It's perfectly right. And roughly the same price as a pint.

The rest of the menu covers all of the other American style comfort food you could want, such as loaded fries, mac n cheese and fried chicken, all of which are highly rated, however make sure you arrive with an empty stomach, or even better, a hangover, as this food isn't for the faint hearted. Best to get a few dishes and share, then wash it down with a pint or five.

Great vibes and good times.
MrMena
I had the vege burger with added potato gems, was ok for a vege burger but nothing worth raving about. There beef burgers on the other hand are delicious.
Maddy Horne
So good for the typical American meal. I love the Mac n cheese and the chicken tenders with chipotle mayo probably one of the best eats. Highly recommend going with friends/boyfriend to get a few drinks the atmosphere is great!

Offering American comfort food staples including hot chicks, dirty dogs and greasy buns this is one heck of place in South Yarra with an Ozark meets Pulp Fiction vibe and maybe just a smidgen of Mad Max thrown in for good measure. If this place was actually in the states it would be a dicey proposition after dark. Remorsefully, it turns out the staff are super friendly and don’t actually wield shotguns.

Went on a Thursday night and it was pumping... think like a dumpy hipster bar that does good food. Had the popcorn chicken and original tenders... tenders were the winner they were magnificent. Mac and cheese was fairly bland. I reckon the highlight was the loaded chips with chicken and gravy... I never have loaded fries but there were magnificent. Both the beef and the chicken burger were good too. Ate too much as you can tell but a good joint worth a visit, food come out in good time too.

I straight up loved this place. This is perfect for a few share plates and jugs of beer between friends. Food is so good and staff were very friendly!

I visited on a Thursday night (around 8.30) and the venue was pumping. Leonards is located off Chapel Street, in an old federation style home. The interior feels 70’s inspired with many paintings and decorations. There is no table service and no formal dining area; however that is not needed. The service is basic, order at the bar, take a seat and find a table. I ordered the XXX chicken wings and eggplant tenders. I was immensely satisfied with both. The chicken wings had a fantastic amount of spice to entertain the tastebuds, a crispy and thin batter and moist, succulent chicken. I’m already craving another set. The eggplant tenders were also notable, with a delicious ranch sauce to complement them. I’m sure I’ll be back again.
The City Lane
Leonard’s House Of Love is a South Yarra bar inspired by log cabin design circa the 1970s. Walk inside and you’re immediately transported into a different era, with wood panelling and floors, wallpaper, a fireplace, pinball, upcycled furniture and lots of shades of orange, yellow and brown helping nail the 70s look.
Memo
This place was aight overall. What I loved was the atmosphere and beer selection. It was a cool place to hang with the crew. The food was ok and only ok. The really hot wings weren't as hot as I thought they would be. The chicken was hot and tender. However, I didn't feel like I got my money's worth. It is expensive for what it is... which is probably the same for most american inspired joints.

Great vibe, awesome burgers and the mac ‘n cheese is superb. Brilliant dive bar setting, friendly staff and a sensational playlist as well as tap and bottled beers. Fabulous.
This would have been a 3.5 but what the hell has happened with this update!! Grabbed food and beers here on a Friday night...everything tasty. Try the mac and cheese.

Is there really anything better then Leonard's South Side Fried Chicken Burger? Throw in a slice of pineapple and a splash of chipotle. No there isn't. Their chicken is as good as it comes..Juicy juicy mmm

Been meaning to put a post up on Leonards for a while. Have had Leonards a handful of times and really rate it. Staff are nice, food is good and the space is very cool.

Had the “double cheeseburger” and the “hot glazed tenders”.

The double cheeseburger consisted of two beef brisket and short rib patties, two layers of melted American cheese, burger sauce, pickles and lettuce. The patties were dense but tender with a good ratio of fat to keep the patties juicy; the cuts of beef used for the patty probably contributed much of the flavouring to the patty; very meaty and savoury. The melted gooey cheese blended well with the patties; the first layer of cheese was between the top bun and the top patty and the second layer of cheese was between the two patties providing full coverage. The burger sauce was sort of mixed with the cheese which provided a savoury cheesiness to the bite and the mild vinegary pickles helped cut back the fattiness of the burger. The lettuce was quite essential to balance the amount of meat in the burger, but more so to keep the bottom bun from getting soggy.

As for the hot glazed tenders, it came in a basket consisting of three decently large pieces of fried chicken tenderloins covered with a layer of hot sauce, two small pickled cucumbers and a chipotle mayo dip. The chicken was tender and the thin outer coating was slightly crunchy despite being drenched in the hot sauce. The hot sauce was spicy and definitely has some heat to it; together with the chicken it provided a well-rounded savouriness to the bite. The chipotle mayo was optional as the hot glazed tenders were already flavour packed, though it does add a creamy texture to the bite which might also reduce the heat a little. Finally the pickled cucumbers helped pace the eating; it acted like a palette cleanser by changing up the flavour.

Overall the meal was tasty and satisfying; the burger was meaty, cheesy and filling, the flavour was certainly beyond good. The chicken tenders were great too; both texture and flavour wise. The hot sauce on the tenders was more than just mildly spicy so if you have a low tolerance to hot spice then it’s probably better to go with the original tenders which also come with the chipotle dip.

Best burger in Melbourne hands down. Staff are absolutely ace too. I bring my doggos, and they’re treated like royalty. Couldn’t recommend this place any more.
Kurt Robinson
The place is nice, the decor is cool, the staff seem friendly and quite attentive despite how busy it is. I had a mushroom burger and it was very tasty. The bun was very sweet, which depending on your taste could be good or bad.

The reason I give this place such a low rating is, when we were leaving one of the bouncers was apparently trying to decline someone entry to the venue, and obviously wasn't doing so professionally. One of the potential customers started recording on his phone and the bouncer, instead of using this as an incentive to be on his best behaviour, he grabbed the phone from the fellow's hand and started going through it trying to delete the footage. It looked like the actions of some back alley thug, not really the kind of person that you would want to be responsible for the protection of your clients. The management obviously needs to take more care with whom they choose as security guards.

Came here tonight with the Mrs and loved everything about it. Probably the coolest looking bar/restaurant along chapel. The decor is set in the 70/80's with a Southern bar kinda feel. The fried chicken burger I got was one of the best I've had. The cheeseburger was also very good! Potato gems to die for! Brooklyn lager on tap tops it off. Bookmark this place if you haven't been , you won't be dissapointed.
Cryptopher Kipouridis
It is stupid how good the burgers are here. The place feels like some sort of American dive bar, with unreal food...but i cannot stress to you how much everyone needs to try the burgers. So so good.
Ruthie
Went here last month and only getting around to leaving a review . Staff are so busy entertaining each other they don't have time for the customer . The whiskey sour was 80% foam /froth and for 20 dollars you expect a proper drink

The best Popcorn Chicken ever!! Leonard’s House of L❤️VE has nice staff, great food and reasonable price! 😍😍😋😋
I recommend fried mozzarella and popcorn chicken.

It's rare to find a great food place that is also a rocking bar. We rocked up (hungry AF) on a Friday night to cranking tunes and a great atmosphere and left with full bellies and our standards of fried chicken thoroughly raised.

Everything is beautifully deep fried but not too much. And individual flavours come through nicely. The sauces are smooth but not too fatty.

We got charcoal chicken nachos, egg plant fries, tex mex chips. And between three people we had to be rolled out.

Legit the best fried chicken we've had in this city.

The Americana charmer, Leonard's House of Love. You will find it in an old, renovated heritage home nestled between two commercial buildings on the doorstep of Chapel Street. The House of Love embodies all the essence of a boozy American diner.

This is the place to be if you are looking to sink some good beer and eat tasty food in a relaxed setting. I would HIGHLY recommend the cheeseburger or the double (if appetite permits). The fat to lean ratio of the brisket and short rib makes the meat tender and flavoursome, and paired with simple ingredients and right amount of condiment, it is arguably one of the best burgers around.
Thomas Francione
Amazing fried chicken burger, the chicken was juicy and tender with coating that had the perfect crunch and flavour. To top it off the service is always on point!

My favourite burger lives here - the mushroom burger!!! The burgers here have the best soft buttery brioche buns, with great American sauces inside, with such juicy massive field mushroom makes it the most scrumptious guilty burger that hits the spot! It's a regular spot for my workmates and I, they're all meat eaters and they literally tear up every time they eat their meaty burger lol.
Spirited Stardust
Super 70s dive bar - we can to check out the pinball (Harley Davidson, not the best game).
Lots of vegan options though.
We had the eggplant tenders with ranch sauce.
The cocktail was vodka passionfruit lime and mint I believe

Amazing. Must try pop corn chicken! Service was really good, nice and quiet. Perfect for summer! Loved the vibes, really quick food. Everything was good!

Great burgers, nachos and cocktails. Friendly service and cool vibes. Some interesting burgers on the menu that I’d love to try on future visits.

Probably the only downside is the lack of space. The eating area is quite limited and I imagine that on any busy evening you would struggle to get a table.
Hungry-Caterpillar
Pub and bar vibes so not ideal for kids (just a heads up). We met friends and enjoyed the food, good quality and well made burgers that melt in the mouth. Not the healthiest, but worth checking out for a cheat meal & a few beers. Nice outdoor area. Bathrooms & inside could do with a Reno.

Ratio Decidendi: Each time I visit I’ll do the same dance with Leonard’s menu – convince myself that it’s time to try the cheeseburger, feel my willpower fade while everyone else decides what they want, and then cave completely when I tell the server that I’ll have the South side fried burger.
Avolette
Hot Dayummmm the cheeseburger was good here. So juicy (or was it greasy?) and full of flavour for something so simple. There was one tiny thin piece of lettuce that helped soak up the use juices but didn't take away from the beefy goodness.

I also tried the charcoal chicken chips. The pepper gravy and actual bits of peppercorn in it, which was both impressive and at times overpowering. The grilled onion was a welcomed addition, and the cheese sauce was good to offset the strong peppercorn flavour. I didn't really care for the chicken in the chips. It was fine, but didn't need to be there in my opinion. The chips themselves were seasoned very well and would have been delicious on their own.

I like how this place transforms from a lovely sunny courtyard outside to a dingy old school dive bar inside. Cool atmosphere. Will be back for drinks and perhaps the fried chicken that reviews keep raving on about.

Went to Leonard's with my boyfriend after hearing him ramble on & on about how good the burgers there were - & I wasn't disappointed. The burger was yummy & the wings were decent but the potato skins were just to die for 😍 also, shoutout to serving water with heaps of ice!
Jackydb13
Cheap and really yummy food. Really cool venue with heaps of deferent spots to sit. Staff were all super friendly. Quick service. Definitely will return.
Katherine
My boyfriend and I had charcoal chicken fries, original tenders and onion rings for dinner. The loaded charcoal fries is absolutely my favorite now, the gravy goes really good with the chicken. My partner really enjoyed the fried tenders. The onion rings are a disappointment, maybe because it’s takeaway, all of them are soggy. We’ll definitely go to the actual restaurant and try more amazing food l!

DONT GO ANYWHERE ELSE LEONARDS IS THE BEST. DONT DO IT......

Stop.

Don't.

Don't even think about it.

👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

Chicken was soggy, undercooked. Food was disgusting, I've had to take the day off work to stay home and recover from such a terrible food poisoning experience. I would reccomend that you do not try this place if you care about your health
Hutchinsonbretta
Great chicken strips. Best ones. Grab some with a side of onion rings and you won't be disappointed. Nice bar atmosphere in funky log ski cabin atmosphere. Gets busy though so don't plan on getting a seat too often on good nights.

I went here with friends for a farewell drink before they went to Europe. Leonard's House of Love is a cool pub like place set in an old house with punk/hardcore music. We sat in the smoking area because my friends smoke. It was very cold at first because the heater wasn't working but they fixed it for us.

I was the only person who was having dinner here so because of the new smoking laws I had to sit all by myself in the non smoking area while I was eating but what can you do 🤷🏼‍♀️. My friends who have eaten here before recommended that I have the portobello mushroom burger but I was seduced by the beef brisket and short rib patty so I ordered the cheese burger 🍔. I was going to order the mac and cheese on the side but I thought it would be too much cheese so I ordered the potato gems. The burger came out looking impressive in a nice soft bun. The beef patty was cooked perfectly with a nice char and it was pink in the middle. I still wasn't wowed by the burger though, I think it was well executed but I felt like it needed a more exciting sauce to bring it all together.

The potato gems are like the ones you get from the freezer but they were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle without a hint of that frozen potato taste. There were a lot of potato gems and I was going to just eat half of them but they were so good that I polished them off.

The people working here were very friendly and helpful. I would like to come back and try their loaded fries. With Anita.
Debmon Samanta
The chicken is out of this world!

The south side fried burger is a must! Also try their charcoal chicken fries with their house lager on tap.
Renae Harrison
Review is on the higher side due to their amazing chicken tenders and popcorn chicken. Bar service was quite nice too. However, my small group and I arrived around 7 on a Friday night and the whole place was already full with people literally jumping over fences for newly available seating, so that wasn't ideal. Would come back for the chicken 🤤
Athena Sun
IT WAS LITTTTTTTT!!!!
The chicken one is definitely my fav and the beef one is great as well!! The patty is cooked medium rare and the cheese omg... but the sauce is a bit heavy and not quite to my taste:( anyways, the chicken has already won my heart. I love Leonard's 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
Kate
Now THAT is a burger.

These burgers are probably the best in the area- juicy, drip-down-your-arm meatiness, generous sauces, well balanced classic toppings. They capture everything good about fast food burgers (cheesy softness) as well as everything good about up market burgers (quality meat, great toppings).
Lilli Fitzpatrick
Yum! I had heard good things about Leonard's House of Love and it did not disappoint! I had the cheeseburger with ketchup instead of the sauce, and fries. Not only was the burger delicious, it didn't fall apart and make a mess! So tasty and not too rich or filling, that and the chips left us totally satisfied. Really cool vibe, if you can get a table indoors it's a great place to go in a group!
Tardar Sauce
Best. Chicken. Ever. Oh I need to write more words for Zomato to accept my review.... just go and try the chicken pieces - the burgers are also awesome.
Edward Schweitzer
Great chicken burger. Decent drink prices, good food prices. Burgers very filling. Great 'dive bar' vibe and a nice place to chill for a few bevvy and have a game of pool. Will be back.
James Grist
Those wiiiiiings! I like em spicy & these didn't dissapoint! Get the chicken 🍗🍗🍗, get the burgers 🍔🍔🍔 get the wiiiiiiiingsss! It's all good, do yourself a favour & go!
Feedme
Awesome burger that is simple, but delivers exactly what you're looking for. The beer selection is perfectly tailored to the space. The decor and vibe are well thought out here.
Kimberley Leggett
Cool space both inside and out which resembles an American style cabin vibe or frat house party. The courtyard is awesome and an excellent place to get mates round to catch up. Love the drink cocktail jug specials which you can sip on or chuck back whilst going round for round on pool.

When it coms to food the Hot Chicken Burger (or any of the burgers for that matter) come close to none. A calorific cross between death-row-cum-cheat meal, Leonards get's it right. Oh so right with the perfect combination of Habanero and duck fat glazed chicken thigh, cheese, aioli, pickles and lettuce in a buttery soft milk bun.
Sandy Galandy
Best burger I've ever had, beef was amazing. Got the burger with the double patty. Service was friendly, pretty laid back atmosphere, got to pat another customers cute dog. Will be coming back for sure.
Simmyeats.Melb
Holy smokes, take my money now! I was introduced to this place by a fellow reviewer, I bookmarked and on Thursday night my taste bud heavens opened. The venue looks like it belongs in Brunswick or Fitzroy not South Yarra lol I love the grungy/alternative staff and the fit out is unreal. The decor is a mix between country and a 70's era, there is a back billiards room and a nice beer garden outside. It was very cold so we were lucky enough to score a table inside, that would be my only negative which is lack of indoor seating. Now, in regards to my cheeseburger and chicken tenders.... amazing! I haven't had a burger from Maccas since 2005 for the simple reason that it is sh1t food, now this burger reminded me of a big mac only 1 billion times better!! haha the bun tasted a little sweet and the mayo tasted like the Big Mac mayo. The pattie was juicy and very good quality and the pickles added a nice touch. Chicken tenders were crunchy on the outside and succulent on the inside, the dipping sauces were a nice accompaniment. Great wine and beer list and honestly you need to go and try these place out for yourself, Really cool vibe and really good food!
Pass The Plate
The only negative I have about Leonard's is the lighting ! My photos just don't do this place justice. I would have to say this is one of my top 5 favourite places for food in Melbourne.

The best fried chicken you can get in Melbourne for sure but their burgers and hotdogs are second to none. And can we talk about those roast chicken fries?! They are the best 'loaded fries' I have ever tasted. I can't go to Leonard's and not order them. Crispy fries topped with creamy white chicken gravy and roast chicken pieces, the flavours are incredible!!

I can not recommend this place more highly! Get down and try the fries if you know whats good for you.

Standout Dish - Fried Chicken Tenders & Roast Chicken Fries
Jamie McMullen
Been to Leonard's a couple of times, can't get enough of their chicken! Crunchy coating, juicy inside, generous serve. Great place for a Sunday session, great outdoor area bit cold even inside could do with some heaters but after a beer or two you don't even notice
Darren - Mary Ellis
Great place and food. Menu is a little limited in the range but still good. Not really a place for kids/toddlers. The charcoal chicken fries and the double cheeseburger with onion rings washed down with Apple cider - well worth it.
Anthony Cheung
Awesome vibe, great beers, burgers and chill place. If you have have tried the cheeseburger here, you will start to find all these listed top 10 burgers etc.. are just a joke. This will raise your standard of how a cheeseburger should be. Everything on the menu is made with some serious love. Super spicy addictive hot wings like no other. Don't go there if you don't want to get addicted to food
Milly Minerva
Vegan review - staff members were very informative about vegan options. The only down side was I had to eat my burger in pieces as it kept falling apart.
Convivialsins
One of the best cheese burgers I've had in a loooong while.. most are forgettable I mean there's good and then there's reeeeeal good!! So good that you are planning the next visit after you've just gobbled it down! Without touching the chips!!!

Yupz thus was my experience at Leonard's ... ordered the double cheeseburger! The patties were juicy and cooked medium rare with chargrilled bits on the edges! Not salty. I mean it was simply Burger heaven perfection yum!! it's your greasy type with a brioche that was not heavy and managed to hold the whole thing together. The sauce used 'special' was spot on! It's mayo based and once infused with a mouthful of everything .. the American cheese the pickle the sauce the patty and the crunchier patty grit ..... wooooah!!

Usually by two mouthfuls I'd reach for the chips already in most places.. but not at Leonard's I just couldn't get enough of it. We had the BBQ chicken chips which actually had BBQ chicken breast in it. we weren't interested in it after the burger cus we wanted more burger. Had to begrudgingly finish off the chips. I think if it wasn't there we'd be emoted to order another burger!!!
GET•IN•MY•BELLY
Leonard's house is a Cool place to hang out for a burger and a beer. The chicken strips were tasty to but the burgers are tip top here. Quality patties and tasty burgers

There may be some who's first love.
Is in the color of her eyes.
I'll always remember my first love.
A greasy cheeseburger and fries.

Make it a double patty.
With everything on top.
Ketchup, mustard, or special sauce.
Please don't ever stop.

Fries fried to a golden brown.
Thin and crispy too.
A greasy cheeseburger with some fries.
No talking til I'm through.

So now you know my secret.
A greasy cheeseburger and fries.
If you want inside my heart.
Make mine super size.
Meataxe
Melbourne's best bar serving Melbourne's best burger. That's all that needs to be said. This line is just to get the review up to the required 140 characters...
Hungry Hippo
The best thing about this place is their consistency in every single meal they serve. I'm yet to have a bad one yet, and I have almost eaten my body weight in their burgers & chips! Atmosphere is great & so is the service! You won't be disappointed
S-foodie-d
I love this place, the food is awesome. But you can never get delivery even though they have a delivery option. Either do delivery properly or not at all. The last 7 times I have called I haven't been able to get it. It's really frustrating.....
April_eats
Fun vibes, great music, happy staff! Very enjoyable atmosphere. Yummy food and great beer list. Great choice of indoor and outdoor seating. Came in what appeared to be their lunch rush but that didn't affect service. Will definitely be back and bring friends to share more food!! Pool table in the back too, bonus!
Sibel
Quality service and amazing food, especially the burgers - however, we had an issue with one of our orders. We let the kitchen know about it, and they apologised profusely, offered a refund, a free meal and a free drink for each of us. We were happy just to swap the meal to something else, but was genuinely surprised when they offered everything else on top.
Alex DeFas
The food is excellent. Loved the burgers but the two members of the bar staff made for a distasteful evening. Who are they trying to tell me I had had drank half of an espresso martini after having two sips and giving it back because it tasted like bin juice whilst providing no compensation - am I supposed to call you out when you fill it half way in the first place? As a customer it feels awkward to ask why the drink isn't made correctly.

Also on a seperate occasion when I asked for a beer and was served a pot. I then requested the beer to be a pint. The hipster douche thought he was being smart leaving my beer behind the bar and walking away after angrily stating I should articulate what type of glass I wanted it in before he poured the beer. I hope that loser gets a parking fine next week.

Good food, but i wouldn't recommend the place purely because of the experience I had with two of the bar staff. The rest of the staff members are really good people; kind and engaging.
Casey Williams
Love this place! Great character and ambience at Leonard's. Cheeseburger is to die for, would vote no.1 in Melbourne hands down and the chicken tenders are just as good.
Sto_92
Perfect way to spend a day off, great atmosphere, absolutely buzzing on the weekends! The fried chicken is to die for absolutely delish, crispy little spice worth every bite. Definitely a must visit for anyone who loves fried chicken, burgers, fries and beers. Perfect place for an Saturday afternoon.
Tomlovestoeat
Has to be the best fried chicken around, couldn't fault it at all. Great staff, beer, music and a pool table. The interior is awesome and there's plenty of outdoor seating too 🤘
Hungry Ronin
Laid back. Eclectic interior. Chilled vibes. Awesome food, albeit not exactly healthy for you. The burger was juicy-tasty, the hot dog pops in your mouth and the chicken tenders were juicy. Even service seemed prompt and helpful, with the girls busking prowess on show. The only flaw of this place is the music. The satanic heavy metal dribble doesn't exactly fit the atmos. Can't win em all.
Ashyveggielover
I came to LHOL for the first time earlier this week.
I was really impressed by the incredibly friendly customer service from all staff. The food is fresh, tasty and quick! As a vegetarian, the options for inventive plant-based foods were endless and I really sensed the care in catering to different dietary requirements. Great atmosphere for a group night out and I will be coming back!
Paul
Leonard's is hella chill. Great vibes. Great staff and absolutely banging burgers. Definitely an enjoyable night out. Pool table for the win.

New work digs calls for new chicken adventures!

My new workmates raved on and on about this place since I started on Monday and today was the day to try Leonard's House of Love. Verdict: Yes it did live up to the hype.

Cosy setup in the backstreets of South Yarra with a cool 70's show vibe. Had the hot chicken tenders which comes with a side of tasty chipotle sauce as this was the hot ticket item on the menu (literally). Friends also ordered some tasty potato gems and onion rings.

Great experience and since it's right outside my doorstep surely won't be the last. Get to it!
Filip Sali
Fantastic burgers!! it came with great surprise as I live close and had never tried it until recently. After trying it for the first time I went back again after three days. The cheese burger, bun melts in your mouth, the pattie is one of the best I have had and the special sauce is very addictive. I will definitely come back and the service was fantastic, there is a great man with a beard ( probably like most)there who is a natural at his job, the owners should offer him a share in the business as he treat it as his own. Looking forward to going back. The potato gems are amazing side to have.
Cat Broadby
If you're in the mood for a amazing burger this place is a must. Especially on a Friday night the vibe is so good in this old house turned bar for a couple of drinks and some food. Find it hard to get such a simple but good burger around but Leonard's always hits the spot. Maybe avoid on a Saturday night though the line is always down the street but for good reason!
TheHungryCouple
We love Prahran, it's our second home for good food. Whether you are on Toorak, Chapel, Greville or simply off Chapel- you are bound to find the most out of this world, wonderful food. Leonard's House of Love is literally just that, it's a untouched City Terrace House- full of love. By love we mean food- fried chicken, fries, burgers and beer. Leonard's is a very cute little burger bar, tucked away just off Chapel. It is in an untouched City Terrace House- stepping inside is like going back through time to the 1970s. All the furniture and decorations are very vintage. The staff are super laid back and very friendly. The menu is a perfect size- one page of the best burgers, Chicken, Tacos and Dogs you will find in Melbourne. The food is so fresh, everything tastes REAL not like cheap frozen food and homemade, very delicious! The burgers are honestly the BEST burgers we have ever had! The bun was soft, with just a little melted butter in the middle, perfect meat to bun ratio. The meat was cooked just right, juicy and tender- not burnt and not raw. All the flavours were perfect, the special homemade sauce was so tasty! Everything tasted so natural and homemade.

TIP: Leonard's is a MUST best burgers in Melbourne. Do order a Cheeseburger- go a double if your feeling cheeky. Don't forget to order some Pop Corn Chicken- amazing seasoning, homemade, huge chicken bites. Don't fill up on fries!
Al
Interesting place! Seems like a typical bar from the outside. Lots of locals heading in for a drink after work. The food was excellent. Delicious fried chicken burger and the potato gems brought back memories! Resident dog wanders around and steals all the attention. Pool table out back.
Prashant Srivastava
The cheeseburger is just great. Hammock fries are the best you get around. With a pint of good beer, this place is a must visit for burger enthusiasts if Melbourne.
Dinermelb
Really awesome place. Cool hangout vibe, good beers and the burgers were so good. You can feel the ateries clogging but damn they tasted good.
The only downfall, it's too good that its very busy all the time, so it's hard to get a table here.
Snacker
Food was excellent (cheeseburger and charcoal chicken fries) but points off for the ambience - when I visited on a Friday night, the establishment was happy for patrons to bring in dogs, and one group had a very large and boisterous dog which kept escaping and sniffing round everyone's food. Not everyone wants to be dining with strange dogs!
Dale Zeinheiger Culpin
This place does burgers so good! They're hand sized but any modifications to them are pretty costly. The standard fried chicken burger already starts at $14.50. The place looks straight out of That 70's Show and that's pretty cool.
Anne
5/5. Everything you imagine southern style chicken to be. I'm addicted and this is only from trying it via Uber Eats! Can't imagine how much better it must be in-house. The tenders are crisp to perfection, good quality chicken, perfect seasoning. The chicken burger is mix of crispy chicken with special sauce and just the right amount of cheese. I got this 2 nights in a row. Then I tried Belle's Chicken to compare and it was like going from First Class to the back of the plane in Economy next to a screaming baby. When you eat Leonard's you will be feeling love that is for sure!
Sam Difference
Great hidden gem in a side street off the Chapel street drag. Wanky name but cool vibes and venue. Food consists of burgers, fried chicken, various loaded fries and hot dogs, mac & cheese etc Place looks like a log cabin filled with Rock n Roll memorabilia and can get very packed and noisy on a Friday night- staff are all young and attentive, you can nab a seat if you're lucky and order through them. Very very easy to run up a huge tab, especially on the drinks! The food I've tried here is the fried chicken and the burgers and potato gems. The food is American style and comes out in baskets. The burger patties could be cooked more- so if you like them well done, request it. The buns hold together really well and they aren't sloppy at all. The fried chicken was tender and came with chipotle mayo. I also recommend the Southern fried Chicken burger, it was way better than most I have tried.
Luke And Hannah
Delicious chicken and great service. We came here on a Tuesday evening and there was plenty of table available. Although Tuesday was the Burger Night, where there to try their popular chicken! so we ordered the Orignal Tenders and the Hot Glazed Tenders with a side of chips. Luke really enjoyed the Orignal Tenders, which was delicious - the outside coating was crunchy and the meat inside was still hot and moist. The marinade was just enough - not too salty or bland. Hannah, however, much preferred the Hot Glazed Tenders, which was a bit sour with vinegar and tasted tomatoey - pretty much like how Buffalo Wings usually taste. The side of chips was crunchy and not oily at all. The staff were friendly, very attentive, and willing to accommodate. Overall, it's a great place for fried chicken, we may return to try their burgers next time.
Live_in_melbourne
A very relaxed and happy place to hang out for drinks and delicious food. Their double cheeseburger is a must try! Also, the cocktail was creamy and tasted like a dessert!
Anja Sjögren
Found this place by accident but was happy I did, relaxed mood, great burgers, service was very good & friendly. Will definitely be coming back.
Matt Vaughan
Quite possibly the best double cheeseburger in Melbourne!

Meat was pink in the middle and nicely charred on the outside and the overall burger was not too dry, not too sloppy - Perfect!
Fries were a little average (need to change the oil guys!) but the broccoli side with hummus dressing was unexpectedly tasty!
Come for the food, stay for the beers! :)

- Atmosphere 5/5
- Service/Staff: 5/5
- Food: 5/5
• Value for money: 5/5

• Revisit? HELL YES!
• Must order: THE BURGERS + POPCORN CHICKEN.

3 words...Oh.My.God. I never gave a 5.0 on Zomato, but this deserves it! I don't even know where to start off about how mouth watering tbe burgers are at leonard's! I consider myself a burger enthiusiast, burger critique, and out of at least 10 burger joints that i've tried in Melbourne. This tops the list hands down. Their other options on the menu are also delicious. Make sure you get the fries. Not to mention that it has a sick atmosphere, both by day and night! Live vinyl DJs some nights, 70's disco ball. This place is top notch! 👌🏽
Amelia
So delicious! The original chicken tenders and charcoal chicken chips are amazing. Love the. With tub beer. Great place for afternoon drinks.
Penguineats
The cheeseburger was pretty spot on overall. The bun was a brioche variety and it was denser than most. The copious amounts of cheese was flavourful and went rather well with the beef patty, which tasted of quality beef. The sauce deserves a special mention and really brought the burger together, along with the extremely fresh ingredients in particular the pickles and lettuce.

Overall a pretty delicious burger that went well with chips cooked to perfection. Not bad at all!
Kate
Absolute fave burger in Melbourne. Rated highly tuck shop take away, fat bobs and grand trailer park, however Leonard's has taken top spot with their cheeseburger. Charcoal chips are delicious, texmex and hamhock fries nice....but wish they still had the spicy chipotle bolognese fries!!!! Love this place
Spudsburgeradventures
Great chilled out venue, cool indoor area with pool table and pinball machine plus an area for the DJ to do his or her thing. Large outdoor area which will fill up quickly as the weather warms up. Super friendly and helpful staff and the food is top notch. Honestly like everything I've ever tried here, but personal faves are the charcoal chicken fries and the double cheeseburger. Also kid and dog friendly!
Ben McDuffie
Can't knock the burgers in here. No wonder there so highly talked about. Had a side of the charcoal chicken chips which are unreal aswell & the chicken tenders with chilli sauce. The chilli sauce was a nice heat but also a bit on the sweet side & definately a great accompaniment. Nice atmosphere & good venue. Go check it out
Andrew Brooks
Fun atmosphere, friendly crew, the best cheeseburgers in town, the chicken fries are like crack and a great beer selection. What more do you need
FoodieAboutTown
Possibly one of the best burgers in town and definitely THE place for spicy chicken tenders dipped in mash and gravy! We love Leonard’s House of Love in South Yarra and they have now taken up residence at The Curtain Hotel and are bringing all the good lovin’ to Northside!. The menu isn’t totally gluten friendly – only realise after I have gotten my friend to the bar to order and wonder why she is getting the bun-less burger option (I am just crap at times!!) But it’s all ok, there is the bun-less burger and she is all over the loaded fries. Hubby wanted a burger AND a hotdog – we talked him down! Other hubby isn’t too hungry so we get some tenders for the table and the bill is ridiculously cheap with a few drinks chucked in.
Matthew De Fazio
On a cold winters day, sitting outside under the heaters, the first thing to arrive was a mulled Cider that was really wonderful. The sharpness of the Cider had been taken away and you were left with a beautiful fruity flavour. The Popcorn Chicken was good, not overly special but good and juicy. The double cheeseburger (with some bacon) really hit the spot. The meat was well seasoned and cooked with the cheese and bun adding the necessary balance with the pickles adding that extra little zing. The patty was incredibly juicy, that beef brisket and short rib patty is a smart combination and I think the thinness of the Patty definitely works in its favour.
Stefgusts
Came here for a Sunday night feed with 2 chicky babes, We were impressed on arrival as the place is beautiful and the chill vibe was very welcoming. We had the chicken burger, double cheese burger, potato gems and zucchini chips! Burgers were close to the best I've had In Melbourne, and the sides were super yum too. Only downside is we had to sit on a bench outside as there is minimal tables. Be coming back here for sure.

P.s more fairy lights
David Kane
This place is amazing and over delivers on all fronts the burgers are a generous size and the meat cooked to perfection never been let down by this joint.
Teresa Cristina Carvalho
Best burger that I ever had, awesome vintage deco and friendly staff, good place to friends reunion. Definitely going back soon. Recommended 100%.
Jawn Tarmsawn
Solid atmosphere, the staff are SO good, and the food and drink is without comparison!! More people need to know about this place :) So much better than that pizza joint in thornbury, la cuccirina..
Albert
Came here regularly. The place feels cozy and the staffs are friendly.
The chips with chicken gravy is a must try. Cheeseburger is good.
Asked for a whisky cocktail and the bartender made it so delicious!
This place is dog friendly too. They also have pinball machine and pool table.
This place is not mentioned enough when it comes to burgers. Went for a friend's farewell and I will go again soon!

Loved the chips that came with gravy and chicken pieces on it!

Plus it's a bar for those who like a drink.

Delicious! Hands down best spicy chicken tenders and loaded fries with shredded ham hock... Great simple food matched with great selection of drinks.

Ordered from Leonard's today using Uber Eats. First time customer and will never be back again. I ordered the Original Tender Strips was utterly disappointed (and frankly a little angry) at the poorly presented takeaway. What made it worse was the it was even missing the sauce! The menu said Tender chicken strips with pickles and Chipotle mayo. I got strips, one pickle and no mayo.

The double cheese burger was AMAZING!! The soft oily bun, the juicy patty, the melted cheese, OMG I’m mouth-watering even just thinking about it. The hot glazed tenders and ham hock fries were also top level.

It was really crowded early on a Saturday night. There was nowhere left to sit and we ended up on a narrow bench. It's also very dark and loud inside. The courtyard outside looked really nice, but we didn't want to wait. Staff were very friendly. The cheeseburger seemed understated but was really delicious (soft bun, juicy and flavoursome filling). Indeed this place does excellent no frills burgers. The spicy dog really packed a punch but was also delicious. This place does some of the best comfort American diner food around, even if it's not the best place to actually sit and eat when busy. I imagine if it was quieter and there were less people it would be quite a cosy bar instead of people standing on every inch of space available.
World In A Bite
Pub style eatery 😉 lovely and friendly service! The quick bite double cheeseburger was so good! The patties were gourmet and really tasted healthy (beef brisket) 🙊 I love how the buns are toasty ... The only downside is I felt that the pickle was a bit too strong ... 20 min waiting time...

I have to come back for charcoal chicken fries!

Awesome! Amazing! You can tell in a second that much love goes into running this bar/restaurant. Food was PERFECT and did not taste greasy and heavy. Meal took a little time to come out but was worth the wait.
My first time trying the ubereats so I have used it to order original tender chicken. They were so crispy even though it might have been in the car for a while. My gym has gone to waste but my stomach is very happy 😂

Great vibe! Big courtyard. Tried out the spicy dog, Connie Island dog, southern fried chicken burger, double cheeseburger and chicken fries between a few of us. All were super tasty! The sausages had a great snap! Fried chicken was super crispy. Good neighbourhood joint for a quick bite and social drink. Love the old school cabin feel, super cozy!
Chad
My chicken sandwich was as good as any I've had. It was just really good. My friend said his double cheeseburger was awesome and juicy. Our other friends said their hotdogs had great snap, best they've tried in Melbourne. This is a funky little joint had an awesome playlist, 60's Rock! And a cool mountain cabin hipster vibe.

The decor here is really cool, and the pinball machine is a good addition. We came on a Tuesday night and it was fairly busy. However, the service was still good and we were approached quickly for drink and food orders. The food came promptly. Got the popcorn chicken - it was freakin' delicious. Burgers were also good, (hash double cheeseburger and diner cheeseburger) but in the single cheeseburger we found that the patty was quite thin although there was an awesome sauce ratio (I'm really into condiments). We also had the broccoli and almond salad which was good, but we weren't given a knife so the giant broccoli trees were rather difficult to eat.
It would be great to see a more adventurous range of beers/ciders, maybe tapping (tapping...geddit?!) into local microbreweries?
Atmosphere is rad. Would fo' sho recommend.
Coffeelove
A very cool retro spot to hang out. Super delicious burgers. The patties are juicy so tasty! This place is in my hood and I would like to come back and try the other burgers!
Keen For Cuisine
YUM!!!!!! That's the best way to describe the feed I had here. The burger is a must try if you find your way here - so juicy and cooked to perfection! The loaded fries are super excellent as well and the fried chicken is awesome. The hot chicken is quite spicy, gotta love it!!!
Cheeseburger Anyone? "Where's The Sauce"?
On the way home thought we would finally try this place. Very 70's inside as you can see in my photos. We ordered the double cheeseburger , the fried chicken burger and the charcoal chicken fries. The chicken burger was pretty dry and chewy and didnt have much mayo in it. Realy fatty bacon in it too. As for The double cheese burger, my partner and i both agreed we should of got a single. The pattys were to thick and meaty for a double. In saying that they were tasty and very juicy. The cheese was tasty and melted perfectly. The bun was a lil to thick but because it was so soft and warm it was actually a good bun. My down fall? No sauce..well there was some sort of sauce in there but not much taste to it and hardly any.. i need ketchup and mustard in my cheeseburgers! We asked for a side of ketchup and added it in which gave it a much nicer taste. Thumbs up for no gristle either!fries.. i thought the fries were cooked well, nice and crunchy but i wasnt a fan of the strong pepper Taste. In saying this my partner demolished these! loved them!! Fries with pepper gravy and cheese and sauce and pulled chicken! made sure that i mentioned that in my review.. The quality of everything was pretty good but i just wasnt wowed.. its always the sauce... :) will we come back? Probably not..
Shanaka Eats
A chilled out venue where you can enjoy a cold beer whilst enjoying the serenity of south Yarra. So many enticing items to eat here but the cheeseburger was by far the best! Best ordered with a side serve of hot crunchy chips!

4.5/5 - YUM!!

Been meaning to try this for ages yet on diets and healthy food is not on the menu here haha.

We had a HUUUGE night last and needed this American style food today - the chicken tenders are so good. These are huge portions and all white meat. Yum.

The cheeseburger my partner had as it was a bit rare for me but if you need it well done just ask! Burger he said was terrific.

Chicken fries - these are the best chips out there. Tender chicken, gravy, cheese sauce and onions was heaven.

Coney Island hot dog? So good. Lots of cheesy sauce and bacon and onions - as usual hater of hot dogs this was amazzzzing. $52 for all that.

This place kicks ass! Cool retro atmosphere with chilled music and excellent food. Definitely one of the best burgers in Melbourne and the eggplant chips were delicious. I'll be back ASAP to try the rest of the menu.

This is the venue we all dream of owning. Cool space. Indoor pool table. Out door lazy trees to drink one of the great beers off their list- although beware the $12 jug. It taste like Grandmother has watered down your shandy. Drinks list is better than good. If you sip champagne, start your bottle here. Extremely well priced. Quirky cocktails. Tick
The menu is base. But done so well. Chicken fries seem like the best invention ever with shredded chicken, stuffing and lots of goo. My Fun guy burger was great. Served in a takeaway box, it just seems the smartest idea. Staff were cool. Customers were cool. The tunes were heavy punk and it worked. Just totally enjoyed my night here without any wankerism. I believe they are also at the John Curtain Hotel. Another epic venue.
Loved this space.

Excellent, best burger I have had in Melbourne so far. Mash was also top notch. Service was great everyone smiling. Good vibe inside as well. Will be back soon

What can I say, after a big night Leonards fried chicken helped me through my hangover. Managed to finish a Bloody Mary which come served in an awesome glass shaped as a boot. Cool little spot with a great vibe and awesome staff. Also Love the interior!
Gastroman
Great service, very friendly staff who recommended the burger, a nice greasy one in all the right ways. Really good selection in drinks and it's well located behind chapel street. This a place most certainly will be coming back to.

Hidden hangout place in South Yarra ! Love love love the vibes, deco and ambience here. Perfect for catch ups , groups and even dates. Delicious American type food - loved the chicken tenders, eggplant fries, mash and coney dog!
Brungiel
Leonard's is a cool place hidden off Chapel St. An old house converted into a bar, this place has a good drinks menu, great outdoor area and also a cool kitchen serving up fried chicken and burger all night. Always a fun time!
GandR
cool vibe, friendly staff and amazing food. Loved the chicken tenders, look forward to trying the dogs next time, look awesome.
Great place to relax on a sunday and have a beer or cocktail
Patersani
The setting here is brilliant. It feels cosy and like a shack that the family have been spending their holidays in for years. I loved the feel of the bar and the different rooms. The place had a buzzing vibe whether you're inside or out. The food was comfort food. So satisfying. The burgers were great as were the loaded chips, although a little on he expensive side. If you're looking for something refreshing from chapel street then this is the place to go
Olivia Baillie
A cosy little cottage like building located behind the hustle and bustle of Chapel Street is the 70's vibin' Leonards House of Love. This is also home to, what I am bravely about to say, Melbourne's best Cheeseburger (to date). I know. Its a massive call to make. The bun was soft, the patty was made of beef brisket and ribs, topped with delicious special sauce, glorious melted cheese, pickles and jalapenos...I was in heaven. I ate it so quick that I almost ordered another. We also ordered the shredded chicken loaded fries with cheeseburger stuffing, gravy, cheese and grilled onions. Was also just as delicious. It was quite a busy Saturday night there and was a struggle to find a place to seat to be able to eat, but we found luckily somewhere. I was also very impressed with the quick service - the food came out so quick.

~NOT A BURGER REVIEW~

Though I will be back for their burgers.

So in our order we had some hot glazed fried chicken tenders, the spicy kimchi with crackling hotdog, the cauliflower nachos, and a cheeseburger.

The smoked frankfurt was boiled and had that snap-bite to it, the cheese sauce oozed out as I eat into the bun. The kimchi was spicy but so-so but overall a nice menu item.

The fried chicken was ok. Wasn't too crunchy or moist but the glaze of hot sauce was quite nice and spicy. It was ok, but not great.

The cauliflower nachos were probably the worse of what we ordered but it wasn't too bad.

And the cheeseburger....didn't really have it (just had a bite or 2) but certainly tantalised my palate. Patty was perfectly cooked (pink in the middle), and a slight squeeze of the burg shows you its juicy goodness.

Certainly will be popping back in, probs next week. I'll try starve myself prior to that next visit as I wanna taste of them LOADED FRIES!!!

From the guys who bought to us Sweet Water Inn presents 'Leonards House of Love'. Nestled in the back streets of South Yarra, just off Chapel Street is a restaurant / bar that is clearly out for a good time.
Tuesday night was advertised as burger night, with 7 varieties of cheese burgers with $12 jugs of beer. Unfortunately on our arrival the staff nicely informed us that the burger promotion was on hold due to a new menu being launched. Not a problem the menu looked great anyway I ordered the cheese burger and added jalapeños. A mate ordered the double cheese burger and my other mate ordered the southern chicken burger and we ordered the tex mex fries with cheese, salsa, guacamole and jalapeños. Wow!! My cheese burger was exceptional. The bun fresh and soft, the beef full of flavour and seasoned perfectly and that special sauce SENSATIONAL, it really married the entire burger together. The fries, OMG.
The service at Leonards was exceptional. Every staff member made sure we were having a great time.
Great food, great atmosphere and a great team makes you wanting to go again and again.
Vicky Wulff
Our FAV place for a afternoon drink or some yummy pub food! The atmosphere in itself is enough to make anyone want to spend an afternoon here but the food is FAB - a great spin on pub grub with so much flavour and taste! A great South Yarra treat!!
Rhi Godwin
Loved the uniqueness of this place, tucked behind the Jam Factory off Chapel Street.

On a Sunday night this place was busy but after sitting up at the bar for a little bit, a table quickly became available. I loved the atmosphere and decor - very old American creek style meets mountain hut meets Colorado ski chalet. Super cosy and inviting, games, pool, lots of things to look out - a stand out amongst same same places on the nearby Chapel Street.

We ordered the fried chicken, the glazed chicken tenders and the chicken fries. Probably a chicken overload but who cares. The poutine style fries were yum; doused in cheese sauce, gravy and moist pulled chicken whilst still remaining crispy. The fried chicken was great and the glazed chicken was the same fried chicken but with a hot, sweet Maryland glaze over (which could have done with a little more). With two drinks and massive portions we were super impressed with the value and quality.

Will certainly be back for a bite and to enjoy the cool ambience.
Coffee And Food Enthusiast.
Can't fault the food, loved my double cheese burger, patty was packed full of flavour and slightly pink in the middle which is how I like it, bun wasn't too sweet like most in Melbourne, and the winner winner chicken dinner was definitely a winner.
Wilsonwilson
These guys get it.

Not much on offer on the menu, but they focus on making sure everything they offer is on point. The burgers are up there with the best in Melbourne, and the hot glazed chicken tenders are amazing.

Really cool vibe in the bar too.
Nick Shearman
Hipster service at its worse... Beanies everywhere. The place was less than half full with all the bartenders standing around scratching their arses and they make us stand in a queue for half and hour to get in. We were at this abortion of an American style dive bar for a friends birthday, they were outside however we were not aloud to see them as even though the section was also half full we were told it was at capacity and would have to remain in side. As we peered through the the window at our friends doing the shuffling in the ample space I can't help but think this place is the definition of what is wrong with Melbourne's bar/restaurant scene.
Kalise Chalwell
Tucked away behind Chapel Street is where you'll find this fried chicken haven. I had heard so much about this place and was worried it wouldn't live up to the hype alas, it did! This place has a very cool vibe with cool unpretentious staff. We snagged a seat inside, grabbed a couple of drinks and planned our way through the one page menu. Boy, did we go hard. 1 cheeseburger, 1 'off the menu' chicken burger, fried chicken, fries and mash with gravy. I died and went to food heaven. Those fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned well, and whilst I'm at it, tasted great dipped in the cheesy mash & gravy - because yolo. Fried chicken was tender and juicy. In future I'd throw some ketchup on the beef burger to accompany the mayo but damn, it was a good burger. Can't wait to stop back in.
Alex Bogart-King
Best burgers in Melbourne with a good selection of beers and spirits to match. Do yourself a favor and get down on a Tuesday where they do a bigger variety of burgers. I've been here multiple times now and always left very happy. Good quality ingredients, the correct proportions and a very laid back feel.

Word of warning though, try to avoid it when it's hot - no air conditioning inside the wooden rock house shack is an absolute killer.
Food Etc.
Leonard’s House of Love is hidden down a back alley, just off Chapel St in South Yarra. You walk into the place, and are immediately transported to Brunswick, as if by some sort of magical hipster technology that understands it takes too long to travel north to south in Melbourne-town. Working behind the bar are some young folk, with beards, tattoos, flanalettes, piercings, and all the other cliches that define the hipster culture. Sets the scene perfectly.
The Urban Nihilist
When I heard there was a 'relaxed 70's dive bar set in South Yarra' I stopped staring into the abyss and wondered what type of active wear would be appropriate for a visit. Turns out black was the right choice as always.

I arrived early-ish on burger night and sat in the back amongst the kitsch decor that brought back memories of an unhappy childhood and was greeted warmly by my server but found no spark of that warmth within myself.

As I sat in a death like stillness, my burger arrived at my table. In solitude I consumed my food with as much gusto as my limp frame would allow. The meat was extremely juicy, the flavour incredible and the bun was a vision of perfection in an imperfect world.

As I wiped the juices from my fingers I wondered if Love, or indeed Leonard really do exist or if they're just a human construct in a vast universe of nothingness.

www dot facebook dot com / theurbannihilist

Hands down best burger we have had to date, and we've done the burger circuit. Cooked to a perfect juicy medium rare with that real good meat flavour. Although juicy not sloppy. Cheese, sauce and bun ratio to burger is fab. You are not left asking for anymore or any less of anything. Fried chicken tenders are off tits. Crunchy, not oily, deliciously succulent and paired perfectly with chipotle mayo. Chips are also mint 👌🏻. The service is delicious.

Great place for a Sunday drink or a morgasm (meat orgasm).
DAMMIT JANET I LOVE FOOD
This unassuming bar is located in a small street right off Chapel St and offer a small and simple menu of American comfort foods. The staff were friendly however there was a considerable amount of wait time before our food arrived. Nevertheless I really liked the vibe of this place and would definitely come back for drinks and a snack or two.
Rachel
NOT MUCH LOVE
After some amazing burger's and fried chicken on our first visit, we were keen to head back for some close to home dinner for Sunday burger night. However, we left very disappointed.

Although the chicken was as delicious as last time, the burgers went from being one of our tried favourites to one of the worst. Cold (perhaps lukewarm at best) meat, bun perspiring with butter and not enough sauce. Laziness from whoever was cooking, because last time it was so good! Needs to be addressed!!

Cristy
Loved this place!! Down a side street off Chapel, we nearly walked past it. Sat outside in the sunshine and thoroughly enjoyed our Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. Coolest music and make sure you go inside and check out the living room!
Archie_Eats
Rate this bar very high. The beers, burgers, music and overall vibe of the place is perfect.

But waiting 15 minutes in a line to get to the outside area....get fucked!

It wasn't even that busy, sort it out please!
Michy
Absolutely delicious cheeseburgers! Loved the Texan ranch style décor, tucked away in a side street away from the hustle and bustle of Chapel st. Was a bit hesitant to the limited range of burgers on the menu, but was not disappointed with the Cheeseburger. Full of flavour! Not overly greasy and served between 2 perfect buns. Boyfriends double patty was also a hit with him. We are not from this side of town, but will definitely come here again when we are. Bill came to about $50
Nibble And Wander
Was craving a good burger when we came here - We didn't realise it was at a hipster, cool bar until we're outside. There was a pool table and a little dance floor with a dj, pretty cool. The burgers were fantastic! Huge portions, super tasty, a little greasy though but great soft buns and juicy patties. Felt like my arteries were clogging up but it was so worth it! My partner also loved the burgers here, demolished it and said he'll be coming back with his mates for some more burgs and beers! The fries are a must too, charcoal chicken, gravy and got chips who can so no? Definitely recommended for a place to kick back and eat with drinks!
Jo Coombe
We stumbled upon this place on our way to the cinema and came back for a drink only. When we saw the fried chicken come out we had to order some. It didn't disappoint. Moist, with amazing crust. Just enough spice. We'll be back
Bianca Roberts
A very casual down to earth venue that is perfect for a casual drink with mates. Expect very loud, rock-a-billy style music to accompany your stay! Tables usually end up shared between places, which is a very welcoming and friendly experience; just don't expect any privacy! Drinks are so so, very fun though!
Burgar Luv
Geez after eating the cheese burgar i thought I had died and gone to heaven easily the best burgar bar none can't recommend it highly enough
Always Choose Pizza
When I give out a 5 it basically means I'd eat at a place again tomorrow. As for Leonard's I might just start living here and eat 3 square meals a day. Imagine a cheeseburger so tender it's silky, you can get it here. Imagine deep fried chicken tenders that when you bite, a heavy crunch gives way to moist succulent chicken the colonel only dreams about. You can get it here. And loaded fries that get you, on a deeper level. It's all here.

Also Brooklyn lager on tap and legend staff. My only advice is get here early, this place gets rammed
Hamburger
My top 5, great gravy chips and very solid juicy burger well done. Among my top 5 - supermax, JD's burgers, merrywell, demazzi & 8bit. Rockwell and sons is also worth mentioning
Dani R
SO. FRICKIN. GOOD. Burgers are tops, served in true american diner style, nicely proportioned with very good quality buns, patties, sauce and pickle. But oh my lord the chicken is to die for. Crunchy, juicy strips served alongside hot spicy sauce or a milder mayo-based sauce... Top that off with early 2000s rock, friendly service and less dickheads than you usually encounter in the area, and you're definitely on to a winner, right?!
Tom S
Short and simple menu, tasty burgers and beers in a chilled out Americana wooden mountain-style chateau, what else does a fella need?
Not too busy on a weeknight which made getting fed and watered easy done with the fellas 🍔🍻👊🏻
FoodieAboutTown
Leonard's House of Love - dude food alert!! This is such a cute little place, behind all of the madness of Chapel Street, you pop down a side street and a little unexpected wooden lodge pops up. The decor is hunting lodge meets 80s rock with a snooker table, fire place, pin ball and a great outside area when the weather warms up enough.
Liveeatdrinklovefood
Fast becoming a new local. Sunday's should be burgers and poutine chips. Leonards top their chips with freshly roasted chicken, onion and gravy it's the best with a side of cheeseburger, food coma but so worth it! I love the outdoor area and the vibe that is Leonard's. You have to try their chips!
Breakylunchanddibba
Best burger I've ever had hands down.
Not great seating arrangements for large groups but the burger is definitely worth the visit. Will be returning many many times.
Tash
Great vibe here. The food is AHMAHZING! The burgers here and in my top 2, and the charcoal chicken fries are to die for. Do yourself a favour and go down to Leonards for a few cheeky drinks & an awesome feed
FAS
This place is our local, and what a local it is. The craft beers on hand are awesome, as is their own brew. The menu is not that comprehensive, however, anything ordered will not disappoint. THE DOUBLE CHEESE BURGER!!!!!! the friendly staff are always keen to help, and the service is great. It's not that often staff members in pubs around south Yarra and prahan will give you the time of day. Highly recommend this place.
Andrew Art Vandelay Pantelis
As good as the fit out is, the best feat was the food, tried the double cheese burger and boy was it good! Pink patty, soft bread (not too sweet like some of the glazed buns have been in Melbourne) a Mate had the chicken dinner and it was probably one of the best chicken meals I've ever had, chicken stuffing was superb and 3 types of potatoes on the side (spud, mash, fries) don't change a thing with the food. Work on the fire place not smoking out the pool room and getting rid of the slight seedy smell from the night before and you'l have a regular customer in me.
Burgers Of Melbourne
Leonard's House of Love opened its doors for lunch for the first time today and will soon be a packed venue on a regular basis. If you like your patties pink, like your bread soft, enjoy a good melted cheese and love juicy sauce, then this place is for you. At $13 for a double and $10 for a single, this place is also a bargain find.
Georgia Allen
Ate here the other night after seeing pics of the food on Instagram. The burgers were great, so was the bolognaise fries, and also the service. Well done guys x
