Had the best dining experience here last night, the food was absolutely delicious & such friendly staff! I accidentally knocked over & smashed wine glass...tad embarrassed, however they were so quick to respond, cleaned it up discreetly & made me feel happy & comfortable, highly recommended
Joe was extremely attentive to my dietary needs (vegan) and went out of his way to create exactly the dish that I wanted. While all my friends had non-vegan starters, Joe asked the kitchen to whip us a special something for me as well.
Each time I've eaten at Terroni it has never disappointed. It has been a great meal every time. I would highly recommend this restaurant
Our favorite local and easily the best value for money Italian in Melbourne.
Food is always fantastic and consistent. (Never had a bad meal) Joe the owner is the heart beat and a lovely guy that has become a personal friend and we let him choose the wine and never disappoints.
The specials are always different and 9 times out of 10 we eat from the specials board.
Love it.
Must try
The best dining experience in Yarraville. Great food, great service, awesome well priced wine list and zero pretentiousness.
Beautiful food & wines, recommend visiting this restaurant & Wonderful staff.
Fabulous place, great food and service. Very authentic and totally enjoyable. We will return without a doubt.
Beautiful traditional Italian food and awesome cosmopolitans We visit almost weekly and just love the food and couldn't recommend it enough
Beautiful food, lovely wine and amazing service! Always really fast and good service. We love coming here for date nights!😊
Wow what a beautiful meal ....our first time here but we will be back amazing food and lovely staff couldn't fault it
Delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly service. What more do you need. 👍
Perfect home style food like nonna used to make...with friendly staff...and a romantic ambience... totally recommend it to anyone that enjoys great Mediterranean style cuisine...and just next to the Sun theatre...who can ask for more...Bravo
Great food really friendly and helpful staff great service
Food and hospitality were fantastic. Will definitely be coming back!
Great service, great food & lovely wine. Always consistent & you feel like you're in a little part of Europe. Oh & the tiramisu & panna cotta are divine.
Lovely little Italian place definitely a great date place with a warm ambiance but be warned book or come early as its not huge downstairs. Service first class from all the staff especially the owner who is hands on. We have been here numerous times but not for some time as live in the other side now but made a special trip back to our old haunt. The prosciutto with little crispy grissini was excellent. We also had the arancini balls which were quite rich but delectable. For mains we consumed our favourite the Gorgonzola gnocchi with walnuts. So soft and silky highly recommend that dish. Too full for dessert. Enjoyed the wine too the Torbrek shiraz. All in all a great return visit and hope to visit again one day.
An absolute gem! Delicious, fresh and flavorful pasta with a generous wine list. Fantastic service and cozy interior. You cannot find a fresher pasta in the west!
Great little spot for pasta, sauces taste authentic, and the pasta is a bit more on the ‘dente’ side then I would have like but that might be the proper way to serve it! Good desserts too, can’t go wrong with the tiramisu or pannacotta.
Popped by here on the way back from a long drive and a big day of hiking in the Grampians. I was starving and needed an absolutely delicious and filling meal to top off the day.
I was not disappointed!
I had the carbonara and it was so authentic just like in Italy. So full of flavour, Handmade pasta like it should be, and the pancetta cooked perfectly adding so much more flavour to the dish.
We topped it off with the home made chocolate and hazelnut ice cream and i was satisfied beyond belief.
Service was so attentive, friendly and welcoming I could not fault it. From the moment we walked in we felt so welcomed.
Atmosphere aswell had so much charm and beauty almost felt like I was in a little Italian village having dinner at Nonnas.
Well done for creating something very special. I look forward to coming back.
4.5 Cafe Terroni, a cosy little Italian in the heart of Yarraville serves a mix of family favourites and more creative dishes. We visited Cafe Terroni early in the evening, yet even so it was quickly filling up. First step was to grab a drop from their delicious wine list...
This place is the best. Atmosphere No.1 .. Food No.1 ... Staff No.1 ... Joe is the ultimate Bon Vivant and Raconteur and Sommelier..super highly recommended
Cafe Terroni is a seriously good authentic southern Italian restaurant open 7 nights a week for dinner, located in the heart of Yarraville village, a short distance from the Sun Theatre and from the Yarraville railway station. They would be happy for you to drop in for a quick meal before going to the cinema nearby.
From the street you can see Pinocchio in the window and a myriad of interesting wine and liquer bottles. There is a small and cosy dining area and another one upstairs. With red brick and a very large painting of the Ascension of Mary painted by a local artist, there is a warm ambience; you could indeed be in southern Italy.
On arrival, we were warmly greeted by Alina and it was busy even on a Monday night. There is a very interesting menu but we focussed on the specials blackboard.
For entree, we had a super fresh burrata salad; a generous serve of burrata cheese, basil, heirloom tomatoes and almonds. At Alina's suggestion, we had the Tiger prawns, perfectly grilled in a garlic sauce; they had been sliced with a butterfly technique and so it was easy to extract the prawn flesh. The Tiger prawns will soon be part of the new menu.
We also had a a home made Gorgonzola gnocchi with fresh figs, walnuts in a cream sauce. The gnocchi melted in your mouth and there was a subtle blue cheese taste which made for a beautiful entree. It would also be a great main course, with an accompanying salad.
We enjoyed the entrees with a glass of Dr L Riesling 2017. This was easy drinking and a very dry finish so perfect with the entrees and fish.
For the main, I had the pan seared blue eye fish with cauliflower puree, broccolini, mixed vegetables caponata and salsa verde. A well balanced meal with no additional sides needed and very well priced at $28.90.
My partner had the chittarra pasta with veal, pea, thyme and cream; a great combination and a very generous serve. It could have done with a wedge of lemon to cut the heaviness of the cream texture and possibly a small side salad.
My partner stayed with the Dr L Riesling but I switched to the red wine by the glass that was on special; Le Monde Cabernet Franc 2014 from Friuli Grave, Italy. It had a deep plum colour and a taste of blackberries; a lighter style and a dry, acid finish; perfect with the fish or a pasta dish.
We finished by sharing the Italian classic, Tiramisu, which was both generous and light and very well priced at $10.90.
We are keen to explore more of the menu and will definitely be back. The wine menu has an interesting selection of Italian and Australian wines and worth noting that Monday you can BYO. Probably wise to book as the restaurant is popular with the locals and visitors attending the nearby Sun Theatre.
Our sincere thanks to Alex and the restaurant for the kind invitation to dine here.
My husband and I went to this restaurant on our ‘date night’ last night, before catching s movie and we were so impressed. We shared the calamari entree, I ordered the Napoli and eggplant gnocchi for main and husband ordered the veil. We enjoyed it all. Everything was delicious and so well balanced. We left feeling full, happy and satisfied. We’ll be back for sure.
On a balmy Sunday evening we dined at Cafe Terroni, a well established Italian institution in Yarraville. Quirky decor with a touch of italian kitsch and a nicely stocked bar greeted us when we arrived.
We arrived early on a Sunday evening and to our surprise nearly all the downstairs tables were full, thankfully we had a reservation. Luckily for the dinners after us they have a gorgeous fit out upstairs.
We started with a Moretti beer (because that is what we drank in Italy) and an absolutely delightful Portone Pinot Grigio, this venetian beauty was perfect.
For entree we dinned on one of the specials, the tuna carpaccio and the mussels from the regular menu. The tuna carpaccio was accompanied by radish, orange segments and rocket but in my humble opinion the inclusion of capers and basil is really what made this dish soar. The mussels were fresh and plump and the accompanying rich tomato sauce had an insane depth of flavour. We fought over the remaining sauce and quickly mopped it up with our bread.
For mains we were spoilt for choice and after lengthy consideration opted for the Veal and the house-made fazzoletti pasta.
I had another Pinot Grigio because it was so damn good and we ordered a Quartier Pinot Noir from Mornington Peninsula (also spectacular).
The fazzoletti pasta was cooked al dente, it had a wonderful bite and the sauce was just perfection, a complex mix of citrus, wine, oil, herbs, garlic, seafood and touch of chilli, seriously just magnificent.
Veal and and orange fennel salad was my indulgence dish. When I saw it
In the menu I just couldn’t say no. I just love a good crumbed veal and this was a perfectly cooked tender example. The salad was also worth a mention and not just filling up a space on the plate. An immensely enjoyable dish.
For dessert we shared the panacota. The orange and pistachio pana arrived with the perfect wobble. That’s the moment I realized my error, I should not have agreed to share! The level of orange was prominent, the texture light yet creamy and it was just fabulous with those crunchy pistachios
Thanks so much to owner Joe for looking after us tonight.
On a warm Sunday night, we went in to try Café Terroni. As we walked into the restaurant we were greeted by friendly staff. The place is dimly lit and provides a warm, romantic and homely feel. Perfect if you’re on a date night or want authentic Italian food before you head to Sun Theatre for a movie.
The restaurant is surrounded by stunning art work, wine bottles and cute ornaments which each have a story behind them. There are also family photos hug along the stairwell which add to the homely and traditional vibe to this family run restaurant.
It was hard to choose a dish from their menu as there were so many delicious items to choose from; not to mention the items on the specials board and their extensive wine list. We started our night with the tuna carpaccio which was a fresh, light and vibrant dish – perfect for summer! The tuna was lovely and thin. It worked well with slices of pink grape fruit, cherry tomatoes, radish, capers and rocket.
For mains, we ordered the Ravioli Di Ricotta and their house made gnocchi gorgonzola with cream, walnuts and figs (from their specials board). Both dishes were generous in size and full of flavour. The house made ricotta ravioli was delicate and with a sage butter sauce, it was just perfect.
We’ll definitely be back to have some delicious Italian wine and pasta before our next movie night.
If its an authentic homely Italian place your looking for then look no further. This beautiful italian place hidden in Yarraville styled with antiques and painting sets the mood. With the option of upstairs seating dimmed its quite romantic. The staff here are exceptional and you will be well looked after. A great wine lists compliments a great menu. Food coming out of this kitchen has so much care in each element. Great flavours and great presentation this is the Italian place you just must try.
Cafe Terroni is located in Ballarat Street in Yarraville, close to the cinemas. Offering authentic Italian food, the interior pays homage to everything Sicilian & Italian. It’s a fairly dimly lit venue with a relaxed feel & would be perfect for a date night. With an impressive menu featuring seasonal dishes & an extensive wine list, I was really excited to check this place out.
We started with a selection of entrees, tuna carpaccio, burrata & king banana prawns.
The tuna carpaccio was served with capers, blood orange, orange, rocket, sea salt, radish & olive oil. The flavours worked perfectly together & it was such a lovely fresh dish, perfect for summer.
The burrata was served with fennel, broad beans, baby beans, asparagus, radish, lemon mint & dill. Another delicious & fresh dish, the spring vegetables went so well with the creamy burrata.
The king banana prawns were divine. Served simply with chilli, parsley, lemon, garlic, olive oil & butter. I was so impressed with this dish & also appreciated the restraint & keeping the flavours simple so that the sweet prawns shined through. Some of the best prawns I’ve had.
For mains we tried the spanner crab with alio e olio, absolutely delicious & an delight to eat. We also tried the fresh eggplant & ricotta ravioli, the flavours were incredible & I loved the authenticity of this dish.
Cafe Terroni is such a little gem tucked away in Yarraville with some of the best Italian food I’ve tried. I would highly recommend checking it out, thank you so much for having me.
Very delicious pasta.
Came here a while ago and i had the chittara carbonara.
My boyfriend had the lamb ragout special at the time and he really enjoyed it.
Wonderful as always. It had been awhile - glad to be back. Food was delicious, service very good, got a table by the window as requested upstairs and had good company. Will not leave a return visit for so long again. Only down side had nothing to do restaurant - parking spot took awhile to find.

+4.5
Authentic Italian.. the service here was an absolute 5 we booked (late) for a table when we came back it wasn’t quite ready only a few minutes wait & they gave us complimentary coquettes, you just dont get service like that these days.
Food was all delicious as was the wine. Only down fall was the tiramisu was a bit watery.
We thought the cost was really reasonable $130 for 3 with wine, including starters, pasta, dessert.
I can see why this place is always so poplar we will be back.
A favourite place in Yarraville. The downstairs looks very busy, but there are more tables upstairs. Staff are friendly. The dishes are beautifully cooked. My favourite dish is the lamb ragu.
My partner and I walked in on a whim and we were not disappointed.
The atmosphere was delightful, staff were very friendly, the food was amazing and not at all overpriced.
For entree we had a serving of the meatballs and the croquettes, both were full of flavour and the croquettes were light.
For mains we shared a gnocchi which was just beautiful, they were light, not at all dense. I would have to say it was the best gnocchi I have ever had. If you are in the area give this a go, you will not be disappointed!
Food is great, prices are pretty top notch for this category. There is very little light on the top floor and really bad decor.
Would not sit at the top.
A lovely Italian place in heart of yarraville! I have always loved this suburb for it's cafes and this one is just another addition. Lovely staff, tasty food and a great experience. Will definitely visit again.
Very nice cafe restaurant in the heart of Yarraville with a slightly upmarket feel. Prices are not cheap, but the quality of the food was great. Medium porterhouse cooked perfectly & the Gnocchi Funghi had great taste although a little on the oily side. Bruschetta was crispy and delicious!
Service was consistent, water glasses topped up constantly & warmth from the staff. You definitely feel like you're in Yarraville when you're inside - enough effort has been put in to give the quality feel whilst still making you feel at home. Don't forget to catch a movie next door straight afterwards!
A fantastic way to end the week, dining at Cafe Terroni, a well known and very popular Tuscan restaurant located in the heart of the Yarraville village. The warmth from both welcoming smiles of the staff to the warmth of the room and decor of the restaurant filled with traditional catholic relics and paintings lashed across the walls, Cafe Terroni brings Tuscany to life.
Despite not being advised of the specials which one would usually be advised once seated, we chose well from the menu by ordering the Cozze fon fregola $14.9 a delicious pan tossed mussels dish served up with Sardininan cous cous. Followed by a Linguini Marinara in white wine sauce $26.9 and the Parpadelle with slow cooked lamb $22.9 which were both fresh, light (despite being pasta), full of flavour though needing a few cracks of salt and very generous in portions. We had a couple of glasses of a Tuscan Bordeaux-blend but have no idea what it was at $12.0 a glass.
To finish off a lovely evening, warm banana and butter scotch crepes and a fresh fruit tart both $10.9 and both equally delicious as each bite went in our watering mouths. We will be sure to dine here again and if you're thinking of eating in town before or after a show at the theatre, Cafe Terroni can't be missed. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!
Cafe Terroni is my best friend's favourite Italian restaurant. I very rarely venture over to the Yarraville area as I live in the Eastern suburbs, but upon her good recommendation, I made a very special journey to see what all the fuss was about.
Cafe Terroni's staff are both accommodating and friendly, there to greet you with a smile and chef recommendations. I ordered a plate of Fried Calamari with Aioli to share between my friend and I, and followed the entree with a plate of Cappellacci Con Ricotta bathed in a tomato and basil rich sauce. My taste buds were delighted by what I consumed this particular night. I understood immediately why my friend had recommended Cafe Terroni over and above its neighbouring Italian restaurant located only next door.
Dessert consisted of Banana and Butterscotch Crepes and Berry Drizzled Pannacotta. Deliciousness with every mouthful. I am rather jealous now that my friend lives closer to Cafe Terroni than I do. I would have loved to have made this restaurant my local Italian go-to.
Definitely will return.
Now I'm very picky when it comes to Italian food, but this place is my go to.
Beautifully set in the trendy streets of yarraville this little gem will surprise you.
Bruschetta to start, rigatoni All'Amatriciana, and a beautiful glass of pinot noir. They have a HUGE variety of wine to choose from that really compliments the food.
Fresh produce, packs a punch. The rigatoni pasta is strong in flavour, fresh and amazing.
The restaurant itself is small, cozy, warm and welcoming.
Staff are lovely and you feel at home here, would recommend a visit.
This is my favourite place to eat in Yarraville.
Simple, authentic, beautiful Southern Italian food. Friendly service, lovely warm ambience inside. The staff make you feel very welcome. And the tomato sugo is the best in Melbourne... I prefer it to Grossi, in fact. True story.
Lovely wine selection too!
Please don't change a thing Cafe Terroni! You are awesome!
By far one of the BEST restaurants in Melbourne. excellent variety on the menu, perfectly cook meals every time. Cannot fault the service, as soon as I leave, it's on my mind as to whom I can bring and when I will next return : )
Cosy family feeling Italian restaurant. All the food we ate was delicious: Calamari, mussels, eggplant mozzarella balls, crumbed veal. The only downside was the veal dish was quite dry because there wasn't any sauce just accompaniments of polenta chips and slaw, it could have used something more saucy. Service was decent and all reasonably priced. Recommended.
Update: Just had the T-bone steak off the menu...OFF.THE.HOOK! Aged and cooked perfectly! Ive had "better cuts" at twice the price that didn't compare to this..love this place :)
Always have a great meal here and service is always excellent! I would even let my mamma know that I ate pasta here without risking a smack ;)
My favourite home style Tuscan restaurant in Melbourne. There is a real home style mamas cookin vibe here. No frills but homely interior. I always enjoy ordering from the ever changing specials board. Potions are good and every dish is jam packed full of flavour. Love love love it here, have never been disappointed and keep coming back again and again.
Always great. Cosy atmosphere, nice dim lighting and great service. The cooking is quite classic, not fancy just beautifully cooked. We eat here a once a week or so and it never fails to disappoint. I wish it had carpets and tablecloths so it didn't get so noisy when it's full but that's just my personal opinion. Definitely a local favourite.
One of my personal favourites. We go back again and again and the food is always excellent! I'd call this home style rustic Italian fare, friendly service, great value.
I'm a big fan of this restaurant, my partner and I go here for an occasion such as a birthday or an anniversary. I've had a number of dishes here and they have all been really delicious. The pumpkin agnolotti with the sage and burnt butter sauce, the bruschetta and the parpadelle with lamb ragu are standouts for me. I always really like the wine here too. The ambience is always really warm and cosy, the lights are nice and dim (but not too dim) and the staff are friendly and attentive. It's not a place that I would suggest to go to if you are on a budget, for my partner and I the bill is usually $80-$100 (depending on how much wine is ordered!). We are students hence the infrequent visits but it is definitely worth it and makes for a special evening. Highly recommended!
Our first time here and it will definitely not be the last, we had a starter of chicken ribs and prosciutto croquettes. Chicken ribs lacked some meat but were still tasty and delicious, croquettes were fluffy and lemon aioli accompaniment great. For mains penne amatriciana with salami and olives and the filei with sausages was like Christmas in our mouth.
- Peanut and Prawn
Always a treat to eat here. The staff and management are welcoming and our dinner last night was no exception. The waiter upstairs overheard us discussing what we'd have for entree and explaining to one of our friends what croquettes were. Within minutes we had a plate of croquettes on the table and they were delicious. Service is great, the food is tasty and everything you'd look for in a local Italian cafe. They've lost .5 on the rating because the parmigiana di melanzane was slightly over cooked but still damned good! Will keep going back there for atmosphere, service and flavours.
Lovely little restaurant with a great menu and wine list. We odered the spaghetti marinara, beetroot risotto special and gnocchi with friends, all delicious. The enormous and creamy tiramisu deserves a special mention! Friendly and knowledagable staff. Will definitely go back.
Amazing. Went last night with 2 friends! Food was awesome! Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was great! 10+
Love this place - easily the best place to eat in the village. We have had a lot of things on the menu but the standouts would have to be the beautiful parpadelle with rabbit ragu and the Parmesan crumbed veal with fresh green salad ... Absolutely delicious. Also you cannot leave without trying the tiramisu so light and dreamy - easy to eat the whole huge serving. The wine list is great too - nice mix of moderate to expensive local and euro wine so defs something for every occasion. The service creates that 'old school' family owned Italian ambience that makes you feel so warm and welcome. This place is our absolute 'go to' place (when we can get in!) and is perfect for a pre movies date dinner or long, decadent mid week dinner - so great we have booked it for our rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding. Don't hesitate, just give it a go - and book if you want to get in!
Omg an absolutely fantastic dinner and fantastic price. Everything was to die for especially desert.
It might be in the great untold secret village of Melbourne - Yarraville but Cafe Terroni is without doubt the best secret of Melbourne. Cafe Terroni would make top 10 in Roma. How can this be? Well Nona has to be in the kitchen as every dish is made with love. I cannot give Cafe Terroni a higher rating than 10/10.
Love, love, love this place!. I can't recommend this place enough!
I've been there only twice in 2 very special occasions and I've loved the food, the service and the ambience each time!
Lovely place to have pasta or meat. Great desserts! Great for intimate occasions!
It's a must go if you live around the area!
BEST IN THE WEST. Everytime I enter Cafe Terroni I feel like I'm a guest in someones house, its got warm, rustic and classic old school dishes that never disappoint me. I feel very lucky to have such an inviting space just around the corner. I recommend (because I've tasted them all) the penne matriciana, papardelle with beef ragu always al dente and always delicious. My only issue would be, I'd recommend a dress code be implemented as younger wannabes and roughly dressed patrons can sometimes spoil the mood. Will be back regardless.
Sensational food. Phenomenal service. Can not wait to return to this homely and welcoming restaurant.
Back to Yarraville. Tried eating out locally in Deer Park, but ultimately, for Italian, you've gotta head back to Yarraville. Cafe Terroni is how it should be done, delicious food, fair pricing and great service (Rustique, take a lesson from this place!)
Tasty. This place is just an all round solid offering. Cosy atmosphere, delicious food, and a fairly reasonable wine list - we've always tried to go for something Italian, and when unsure what to select the suggestions have been great.
Being a couple doors away, this option is hard to beat for a pre movie eat before catching a flick at the Sun.
Two thumbs up.
The way a restaurant should be. Fuss-free, friendly service and tasty food. Turned up with a friend sans booking, hoping to have an early dinner. No problem. They found us a table and the friendly, relaxed service continued from there. Good, simple (ie tasty) italian food. The mussels in white wine were delish, and my friend polished off her spaghetti marinara in white wine sauce with gusto. On suggestion from the staff, my glass of chenin blanc was the perfect accompaniment. Will be back.
Excellent service! The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is wonderful! Had the best steak of my life.
Best cured meats iv eaten since being in Italy earlier this year!
Our waiter was so lovely, funny and full of recommendations to try!
Great all round. Went there recently, the service, food, and wine list was great. There was a nice list of specials. Will def come back.
Always satisfies. This little restaurant is a great place to grab a meal, that is better than average. The staff are really friendly and attentive, the menu is very pleasing, the wine list is good and the tiramisu is delicious with an authentic strong coffee flavour.
2 visits. Excellent service, generous food quantities, warm cozy atmosphere, reasonable pricing. Large wine selections!
Good food, good service. Nice place for an intimate dinner. Service is good too - I ordered bruschetta and gnocchi, and was warned by the waitstaff that I may be going too far with the carb loading. I thought I knew better. I didn't. Next time I will listen to the staff, they know what they're talking about.
Nice place - went for a birthday and it was nice wen all the waiters sang.
Place is very loud - if you are happy with a bit of noise this won't bother you.
Food nice, classic italian similar to what you would get at nonnas place. Serving sizes good and well priced.
I'd go back for another feed
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Cafe Terroni. The food was great, the venue is charming and the waiter who served us (upstairs), was the best waiter I have ever been served by. Put this on your list!
Yearnings for Italy. The first time i went to cafe terroni, it poured with rain and lightening lit up the sky. It instantly reminded me of a place I'd eaten at in Perugia, where the weather had behaved similarly, and I immediately felt a good connection. That night, the food was great and the ambience electric. 5-6 years on, we still go here when wanting some quality Italian food, and the authentic italian heritage has been maintained. The quail dish I had on the last visit was to die for, and their rabbit ragu has been a favourite in winter months. The staff are always charming, even when English a little tricky, and service good. My only criticism is that they've narrowed their 'child friendly' dishes, so that the only thing served on a smaller scale is a selection of pasta dishes, which doesn't accommodate all. My fussy eater used to adore their veal schnitzel, but sadly this is only available in adult portions, with price to match.
Excellent very attentive service and well executed and delicious food
Great dinner & service as always.
JB in Yarraville. This is my favorite restaurant in Yarraville - the food is super fresh and I love the Salmon.
Coffee is not bad either - but its the food that keeps me coming back!
I recommend this place
Perfect Southern Italian. A friend told me about this charming Italian place I had to try, in the heart of Yarraville (just near the Sun Theater), so we decided to make a booking. We arrived to Cafe Terroni and were promptly greeted by the owner who showed us to our table. We were completely taken by the homeliness and atmosphere of this place - wood panels and Italiana paired with soft lighting and Italian music created homely and inviting atmosphere. We had number of waiters attending to us, who were all friendly and brought fresh ciabatta with oil to our table (which was delish!) and poured water through out the night.
As this was our first time here, we asked the owner to pick the wines for us and this handsome waiter made some suggestions from the menu to match our wine.
We had beef carpaccio which me and my partner had in Italy last year and it brought memories back. It is the first Italian restaurant we came across that actually served carpaccio. Meat was fresh (as it is raw) and toppings were delicious. We also shared scallops with pea puree and rocket salad that was absolutely gorgeous. Scallops were huge!
After this we opted for steak and Veal Cotoletta which were cooked to perfection!
When waiter approached us for desserts and showed us cook book which had picture of the cassata type dessert which chef was trailing for the first time and asked us if we would like to have it at discounted price, although we were so full we decided to share it and OMG it was amazing! The flavors were just exploding in our mouth. Chocolate Ice cream, riccota with candied fruit and pistachio was great combo and perfect finish to what was the most enjoyable night we had in a while.
Thanks Terroni and staff. 5 stars!
Like stepping into a piece of Florence
Traditional Italian. Not enough hype to this one! Such a romantic, warm restaurant with fantastic service. We had big generous meals that tasted great! The banana crepes were also lovely. Will be back soon
Small and Intimate. I read the reviews below..and agree with some of them. It was reasonably priced, however my friend and I ordered the veal and felt that the majority of the plate was rocket salad and were a bit disappointed with the veal. However the dessert made up for lack of taste - had the butterscotch banana crepes!
service was good, water was refilled, waiters asked if everything was fine etc.
Dined upstairs which was nice and intimate, small but what was expected for the restaurants here in Yarraville. Overall a pleasant dinner.
Cafe Terrific.... This place is small and intimate. Like all cafes in Yarraville, it's acceptable. The food is like traditional southern Italian Nonna food. I enjoyed the ambience and the service was on the ball. It was friendly and prompt. The prices are VERY reasonable. I enjoyed it very much.
Great service and food to compliment the fine wines. Happily recommend as our experience here was a good one.
Highly recommend this place for good, generous Italian food and great wine list. Felt like a family bistro in Italy. I had chicken livers with carmelised onions which I loved and grilled tuna with Mediterranean veggies- others had veal with Marsala reduction, ravioli, shanks. Desserts were great too, very generous sizes. Wines from Italy were lovely. This is the kind of place where the food and the service is not the centre of attention, it's all so good you can take it for granted and just get on with having a good conversation and enjoying yourself.
Always great. We have been here a few 3/4 times and always been happy with food/service/price.
sometimes the food is exceptional but always good.
trying to get the beetroot ravioli back on the menu my partner thought that it was the best meal she has had.goes without saying that she likes beetroot. Great atmosphere, will be back.
Very good, simple Italian food. Lovely ambiance, friendly staff (although we were asked every couple of minutes by different staff if we were ready to order). Reasonably priced, perfect portion size. I'll be back, for sure.
Good honest Italian food, a great wine list and friendly staff. What more can you ask for. Yes, it is a bit tight but it adds to the atmosphere. Will be returning.
I didn't know about this site til just the other night so after dining out at terroni last night figured i would jump on. It is very welcoming there and we were treated as if we dined there all the time almost like family. Staff were very friendly and everything on the menu sounded great. Made it a little hard to choose but with a range of specials to choose from also i decided on the fish of the day. It was without a dought the highlight of the night. Flame grilled tuna steak cooked to perfection with a very rich in flavour salad of green beans, cherry tomatoes, roasted capsicum, potatoes and juicy soft boiled egg all tossed together with pesto that just had to be homemade. And the prices of everything are extremely cheap for the quality i believe. All in all we had a great night and will be dining there again and again. Great cosy place. Great service and fantastic food we strongly recommend going there next time your looking for somewhere to dine!
I have been here a few times. Service always good and food always great. I love their mussel dish with white wine and garlic sauce. It's good as a starter or a main. The specials board always has something interesting on it. Well worth a visit!
Impressive Food!! Authentic Southern Italian food that tastes like nonna's recipe! Strongly recommended by locals and I can see why this place is becoming Yarraville's premium restaurant... Eat there before it becomes too popular!!!
We recommend this. I never normally jump on these things. However, thought this was worth a few mins for other readers.
If you like traditional Italian food with great service and atmosphere Terroni is spendid.
My girlfriend and i shared the lamb shanks and the seafood of the day and really enjoyed it.
The wine list was decent to and we also thought the value was excellent as well, particularly compared to some places near where we live.
Our meals were washed down with a coffee (strong!) at the end.
Thumbs up we say.

Charming outdoor sitting area in Yarraville. Very busy with people enjoying good food and wine. Our dishes were made to our tastes, house made pasta, fresh ingredients and served with enthusiasm. We decided to do dessert as well as our huge meals and were delighted.
The positive reviews are true! Great food, atmosphere and service.
So glad to have found this place, the family is very impressed. Thank you for the awesome dining experience!
Ordered a range of dishes to takeaway and everything was delicious! Staff were friendly, and added bread and parmesan to the meal which was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Dishes were quite generous.
- gnocchi gorgonzola con noci: delicious soft gnocchi, lots of tasty creamy sauce.
- papperdelle con anatra e funghi: soft papperdelle, generous portions of duck.
- beer battered fries: perfect.
- tiramisu: delicious, one of the better tiramisu's I've had this year.
- orange pannacotta: love the tang of the orange, refreshing and light dessert.
More a neighbourhood trattoria than a cafe, and serving pretty good Italian comfort food.
My mum and I visited Cafe Terroni for dinner tonight, as recommended by an Italian friend. We had the scallops for entree and for main ordered the spaghetti marinara and the duck & mushroom gnocchi. Honestly one of the best pastas we had- thank you for your warm hospitality and delicious feed!
Thumbs up!
Had dinner tonight for the first time. Amazing! Great food, happy staff, terrific service. My new favourite restaurant. Will definitely be back!
The blue cheese gnocchi was absolutely delicious, pared with a salad and red wine, the whole meal was above expectations. Partner had the eye fillet that was cooked to perfection. If considering, just do it, you’ll be glad you did.
Been here a number of times and it never fails to impress!
Fantastic food and ambiance.
It’s a must try if you’re reading through the reviews looking for your next restaurant to try.
