Exceptional service and yummy food! The host noticed that one of our meals was not to satisfaction and portions were not generous enough and went to serve another complimentary dish without us even asking.
really delicious food at a good price. Had the beef sambal, it was spicy, fresh and very tasty and a decent sized serving. A lovely little restaurant to visit before watching a movie at the Sun.
Have only had take away from here but every time the food is fresh, tasty, full of flavour and good value. My latest fave is the Tom Yum soup. Looking forward to dining in soon.
It may be a teeny tiny place with limited tables to sit at but the food never disappoints. Easily the best food in Yarraville! They are also coeliac friendly for people like myself, I've had multiple dishes from the menu and can never decide what to get when I go as it's all delicious! Highly recommend
A Cambodian restaurant located in yarraville, this restaurant may be small, but they offer delicious Cambodian dishes.
Started off with the chicken ribs that came with sweet chilli sauce, very tasty and spicy, we wanted more!
The beef strips was healthy and tasty. Underneath was a bed of rice.
The chicken curry was devine, full of flavour and fresh.
Dishes were served hot and fresh. Although most dishes are cooked in coconut cream, somehow Bopha Devi were able to make the dishes really well without making you sick of the and creamy bites.
Really enjoyed these dishes, however, mains can be quite overpriced.
Staff were friendly and service was great.
Take your lover, friends and family here for a great Cambodian night.
Been here a couple of times now and have never been disappointed. It's a very small restaurant so I'd recommend a booking as it's popular. Good service and great tasting food.
Bopha Devi was a great experience and one the Fox can recommend.
Food was reasonably priced, and was great tasting and quick to the table. In this particular experience the Fox had lemongrass Kroeung beef strips as well as Saraman ( a sweet curry, peanut dish) and finishing off with the chargrilled suger banana. Everything presented well and cleanly and pleasantly suprised us with flavours which we did not expect.
Service was quick and functional with the waitress presenting with a warm smile and conducted friendly, prompt service which was appreciated.
Where Bopha Devi lost marks was mainly in venue. The area is small and quite cramped. Because of the limited space the over sized tables didnt help. However, the area which is available is presented nicely and warmly, providing a close intimate experience in the winter.
Bopha Devi suprises guests with intresting flavours which the majority populace may be unaware of, it is for this reason, as well as what is mentioned above that the Fox reccomends Bopha Devi.
A 4 out of 5!
I think I expected something a bit more from this place. It was fairly tasty food but nothing that really impressed me. Venue was a little cramped.
What flavours! Loved the seafood amok and yellow rice cake. Drove 53kms to check this place out and would do so again. Friendly service. Tiny in terms of space but it adds to the friendly vibe. Wine list is so-so, so would recommend the byo wine option.
Every time I've been here the food has been very good, and the staff are always friendly (albeit a tad slow or disorganised). In particular, the fish amok curry which often appears on the dinner specials menu is superb. $4 per person for "corkage" is, however, a joke – and not a very funny one – especially when the wines and spirits available are sub-par. My advice for anyone who wants a drink with dinner is to pay the extra $4 corkage and bring your own until the drinks list improves.
Taste of food was really good. It's small and cosy and a nice place for a family dinner. Good portions and very tasty menu where you want to try everything
Sun Theatre is fast becoming the local cinema favourite. Although older and less sophisticated looking than the previous Palace Electric, the Monday and Tuesday cheap tickets and lack of children in the crowds seem to suit my taste. There's a few Yarraville food options on the list - Bopha Devi, Yim Yam and Hello Gelo in particular. Bopha Devi got the nod that night, Hello Gelo closes at 730pm, and Yim Yam can wait for the future. I don't have a lot of experience with Cambodian food and even the trip there in 2007 is difficult to recall (other than the fried tarantula). I do recall thinking it was similar to Thai but less intense in flavour.
Tiny little restaurant that is always busy so make sure to have a booking during dinner.
Before walking in you can smell the waft of food cooking in the kitchen outside, an early indication you're in for a treat. Have never tried Cambodian food, and was pleasantly surprised by all the spices and herbs used. Incredible flavours! Would love to come back and try their Amok curries.
Only downside is the shared tables, makes it hard to hear each other over dinner.
Love this place, the food was tasty & very well priced. Service a boy frantic but it had been a long day for them. Do it, you won't regret it!!
It was my first time to try cambodian food... They were more like thai cuisine... We started off with lemongrass beef skewers. The meat was soooo tender an flavourful. Was expecting a dipping sauce to go with it but there was none given. Nevertheless they were very still tasty. The crying tiger salad with beef was soooo refreshing (have the option to choose with chicken/prawn) with a touch of chilli. Probably it will taste better with prawn. We had the amok (fish curry) and stir fried chicken with basil. The fish curry was beautiful, very rich... However The coconut cream wasnt too overpowering , we can still taste the fish. The chicken was so-so... If you njoy rich and flavourful dishes u can opt to come here.. Just make sure that you make a reservation as they have very limited seating. Total cost with a bottle of wine $100-
Wow.
The freshness of the flavors is amazing. Nothing is overpowering - e.g. coconut milk curries can be really heavy but the way Bopha do it is just perfect.
The fish amok is delightful, as good as or better than anything that i had in Cambodia and the same can be said for the staff friendliness. The pumpkin wontons for a starter are a must.
Came here for a date night dinner on a friday night and we had an awesome time. Having lived and worked in Cambodia recently, we were really looking forward to having some of our old style of meals again and weren't dissapointed. We had the beef skewers, prahok khtit and the trei cha knyei and all the dishes were very nice, though next time we will ask for stronger prahok as the fermented fish flavour was quite mild. It would be lovely to see some num ban chok or bai saach ch'rook on offer for an occasional breakfast special!
we'll be back :)
Despite having grown up in Southeast Asia, I’ve never had Cambodian food. (Shame…Shame…Shame on me.) So I finally decided to have some when I happened to walk past this place in Yarraville. As Murakami once said, chance encounters are what keep us going.
For more of a special celebration then I suggest Bopha Devi in the Docklands as it is a lot bigger and the interior a little fancier than its Yarraville sibling.
It had been a while since I was last in Yarraville. My last visit saw a trip to Ballarat Street's Café Fidama, a simple yet enjoyable evening from memory. I have only fond memories of the street and suburb so I was quietly chuffed to be returning once aga
Great Food and wonderful flavours. What a little surprise this place is. Although extremely tiny and although I don't mind table sharing this was just a little too close for comfort however the FOOD was amazing. Having never tried Cambodian food before, the flavours in some of the dishes were just outstanding. Particularly loved the barramundi and skewers. Will definitely come back but maybe when it's a little quieter so I can enjoy the experience more.
Nice & tasty. Beautiful food I just wish they did some lunchtime specials. Paying up to $30 for lunch is too expensive.
I do love this place and have been going for over four years, but I think it's about time they changed the menu.
Festivus - Fresh. This was really good
The food was so fresh and service excellent
Only a small shop so book for busy nights
Great food,Cramped venue. Food is delicious and I couldn't complain about a single dish. The general consensus of our group was the satay barramundi for main and the beef skewers and crying tiger salad entrees were the standout performers. Venue is very cramp our group of five shared a table with 3 other diners which made for a tight squeeze. Overall I recommend booking before hand and the food is worth the communal dining.
Good reliable service and consistently delivers good quality Cambodian food. I like that it is small and only accommodates a handful of people.
Food if beautiful but your be aware of corkage price $15 dollars per wine bottle if you bring your own.
Delicous - just go easy on the chillies. We love this place - the food and the staff - whether eat in or take away. For those of you who don't like your meals heavy with chillies, just have to remember to ask them to go easy with it.
Lovely. Beautiful fresh and consistent food and wonderful accommodating staff make this one of our local favorites. They have always gone above and beyond in accommodating special dietary needs and the one time a mistake was made they were fabulous in taking care of us. Worth a try!
Yum!! Fresh delicious food, friendly staff and well priced. Small inside but would recommend and will be going back.
YUM. We just love this place - everything from the cosy, rustic decor to the friendly attentive service simply adds to the positive culinary experience.
Food was great, flavoursome and delivered in a timely manner. Excellently priced, ample parking within walking distance.
Will be back again and again, have recommended it to all our friends on this side of town. It fills up very quickly, so it pays to book ahead on weekends. The sister restaurant in the Docklands is of equal excellence.
Fresh and Tasty. A delicious meal we thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. Thank you for a taste of Cambodia.
I love this place. I've been here twice now and the food is great and so fresh. The service is great too an I love that it is local... Definitely gong back
A lovely little spot! Small but trendy, the food was delicious and fresh! It took me back to Asia!
Lovely, always always friendly, cosy and delicious experience. The fried rice cakes are my single favorite food item on this planet. The amok fish curry is exquisite and the dumpling soup sublime. Clear, delicate flavors and best ingredients are the defining features of the Bopha menu.
Delicious Prawn Noodles. Second visit and not disappointed, the loveliest of service and dishes full of flavour, not too spicy either. The family throughly enjoyed their meals, thanks to all at Bopha! Will be back soon.
Fantastic little gem of a place. I think I like the food here better than the food I had in Cambodia. Lovely staff, yum food, and welcoming decor. Reasonably priced, not necessarily super cheap. Already looking forward to my next visit.
Yum. Went last night with my friend. I had rung up and booked but it seemed they had lost my booking. but all was okay we decided to sit outside. staff were friendly they gave us time to look through the menu. we ordered a bottle of wine and enjoyed the night.
Service was a little slow only 2 people working and for a very busy friday night.
The food woah. what can i say, it made up for the lost booking and slow service. And we left full and happy. would go back to go through the entire menu :)
Excellent food and friendly service. Small restaurant. On a very busy night it was a bit cosy for my liking, but not so bad as to put me off going back as the food truly was delicious.
Aromatic and Full of Flavour. 1) Incredibly friendly and exceptional service both over the phone and when dinning at the actual restaurant.
2) Efficient (when they once stuffed up an order we made for T/A they not only made us a replacement meal (on a very busy Saturday night) within 10 mins, but also gave us some free Spring Rolls to say sorry. All class.)
3) Some dishes are nice, some dishes are really excellent, and the Fried Crab Rolls and Mussel Stir Fry will change your life!
4) The restaurant is small and therefore the noise bounces, so not suitable for all occasions (e.g. romantic dinner), but I like a bustling restaurant. Dinning there is fun, comfortable, and I've been there with a group of 6 before and the pacing of our meals was superb (I should add here that I hate when people bitch about meals not arriving after 25 mins when it's clearly a packed restaurant on a Saturday night - you're dinning out! It's supposed to be an experience.)
What amazing food and service. A nice casual place to have 5 star food for pittance. Definitely going back.
Not too many places I can say that I go back for a specific dish every time, but definitely applies here! Coo Chi dish is amazing!
Jeff. I LOVE this place. Amazing food, great location, beautiful decor and lovely staff. My partner and I go regularly and take all of our friends. Will definitely be back again!
AMAZING. WOW is all I can say! First time I have ever had cambodian, but it definitely won't be the last. This place is a real gem! The staff are friendly and very welcoming. The place is very intimate. The food just blew me away. We had the K'dom - chicken and crab meat rolls - absolutely to die for!! We also had the Braised Kroeung Beef Strips which were pack full of flavour. My favourite however was the Khmer Yellow Pancake - so different, so fresh and so yummy. Will definitely be back!
I recommend a serve of the k'dom and the stuffed poulet for entree... Yum. Then the wonton soup. We usually get take away and have it at home. It's a bit in the expensive side when you take away but oh so good.
Nice ambience but the table for two is a bit too small especially when you have 2 mains. Food is 8 out of 10.
Superb food - try the chicken n crab meat rolls, yum yum :)
One of my favourite new restaurants. The food is always a lucky dip for me from the foreign menu and never ceases to be anything less than amazing; teamed up with intimate dining, great staff, quick service and a nice little editorial on the first page of the menu explaining the Cambodian culture, this is sure not to be a disappointment.
So fragrant. The hot and sour soup with prawns... pick of the list. Top stuff.
Lort Char to die for!!!!!. I have been ordering the Lort Char for years here and I am NEVER disappointed. Also try the chciken ribs - just so much flavor. A great place to visit after the movies. The only down size - they no long serve illy coffee :-(
Banana Flowers - who knew?. Who knew that you could eat banana flowers and that they are delicious? After trying the banana flower salad at Bopha Devi - my eyes have been opened. Everything we tried at this tiny restaurant was tasty and full of flavour.
The staff are smiley and happy - even when rushed off their feet. Recommended!
One of the best and original restaurants in Yarravile. Great to eat in or take away. Make sure you book if you plan to eat in (very small venue) but it's worth it!!
Great food, very fresh and with beautiful flavours.
Fab food in a tight space. Almost communal like eating - avoid the window seat on a sunny day. For a more comfortable meal, head to the Bopha in the Docklands.
Vegan power! Several vegan options (same base, tofu as protein = vegan). Fast service. The chive puck starters were great.
Super lovely staff and a small intimate space. They were really accommodating and helpful around dietary requirements (I have a lot!!), and it wasn't a big deal at all. We did let them know ahead of time of dietary restrictions but as they cook everything fresh and from scratch, it would be quite easy to drop in last minute. Takes the stress out of eating out for me!
I went tonight for the first time. I loved the food. it is delicious . I am not a specialist in Cambodian food but, everything I tried was amazing.
The restaurant has a single unisex bathroon the , the place is small but cozy and the staff is 100% Cambodian. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
I recommend this place it was a nice surprise.
I love this restaurant for their use of quality ingredients. They use fresh ingredients without overwhelming salty and spicy additives.
You can actually taste the real flavors of simple ingredients, which makes the food healthy and nourishing. Wonton soup is my favourite.
Intimate little restaurant, perfect for a date. Food is delicious, and staff are very friendly. I had been coming here for years, but stopped when I moved interstate... Tonight was my first time back after 3 years and it did not disappoint. Bopha Devi is always a favourite!
This is an exceptional restaurant. My son is a very picky eater, and he says the food here is the best in the world!
Service is super friendly and very professional, great variety of drinks and amazing food!
Love this place so much.
Having been going there every Thursday for the past 4 years....that says it all! I order the same dish EVERY time : absolutely love the food there , warm and welcoming staff and chefs. Actually look forward to it each week :) All the food looks great but I just love #44 so much that I stick with it. Great portions and excellent service. The BEST!
We dined here for the first time last night and were so very impressed! Everyone enjoyed their meals immensely! It's very hard to find a restaurant in Melbourne producing this level of quality at such a low price! Worth a trip across town to experience!
