We have just moved to Yarraville and the first take-away option we tried was Under the Sea. Firstly the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, the food was well priced and the portions were very generous... to top it all off the food was delicious and so fresh! Will definitely be out regular fish and chip shop!

A big thank you to the best family owned fish and chips shop in Melbourne! Although they were flat out busy last night with their Saturday night trade, Marwan, Talal and Fatmeh, grilled 20 pieces of the freshest rockling to perfection, and fried the most tender calamari you've ever had, just for us! The food was delicious as usual, and everyone at the party loved it!! Of course, we told them that it was all from Under the Sea!! THANK YOU!!

Best fish and chips in the West. The fish fillets were prepared with fresh batter and the chips were cooked perfectly. Reasonable price for the quality take out.
I love everything about this gem. It's so clean and fresh. The salads are so fresh and interesting and the falafels are so tasty. Best of all the chips don't have that overcooked taste and grilled fish is cooked to perfection.

Found this place through reviews from Zomato. Really serves good fish, chips, calamari and onion rings. I thought I already did a review after my first visit but I missed that out. So, here’s a review after my second visit days back.
Typical take away fish and chips place, twice my visits I ordered somewhat the same combination. 3 types of fish, 1 calamari pack (comes with chips n tartare sauce- pls ask them as they tend to miss that out) and 6 onion rings. Blue grenadier, barramundi and grilled salmon was good. Not into flake/gummy so didn’t try that. Tried Rockling during the first visit but the fish didn’t stick well to batter and the fish shrunk to pretty small after the long deep frying. I felt that I was eating crispy fried batter. Calamari was standard, got it as it’s cheaper with the pack. But it taste good for me. The fries were actually better than other fish and chips places that I have tried.
Lastly is the onion rings. Have you ever seen a shop that serves onion rings as thick onion pieces? I literally got the whole onion when I ordered 6 pieces. Refer to photos uploaded. Each ‘piece’ was 50cents. Definitely a must order! After looking at my photos, I just realised that I forgotten to choose crumb for my fish. The fried batter for the fish was a little soggy.
The team here is always friendly, and it’s always busy. Service with a smile. The fish is always good and great chips too. Best fish n chips in the West.
Wow! I was blown away by this place. They’ve got a relatively simple menu but it delivers. I had fried orange roughy and potato cakes and they were simply heaven. Cooked to perfection, super fresh fish. I’d visit again if I am back in the area.

A good chip shop can be a bit of a novelty. This one definitely belongs to this category. Although being around for some time, good quality produce is their domain. Deep fried or grilled, a touch healthy? Under the sea delivers day in day out.
I looooooooove fishos and I'm so glad this place is 5 minutes away because it's really decent fish and chips. Lets be honest, fish and chips is far from healthy; but if you're going to indulge, this is the place to do it. I've been going to this place since I was a kid and the prices have hardly gone up! Super friendly service, happy to accommodate all sorts of requests... they'll deep fry anything you want. 😂
Never tried the mars bar in batter but the word on the street is they're amazing.
Oh, and they have salads, which are great... I just can't bring myself to order a salad from a fish & chip shop.

It's hard to find a decent chip shop, this is one of them. Love the corn jacks. The chips are excellent. The onion rings are amazing, don't go without getting onion rings! The scallops are so good, perfect amount of oily goodness.

My family and I have been ordering from Under the Sea for over 10 years! Great customer service, you can always have a laugh with them. They are always very consistent, from fresh fish to the simple chips. They are like a part of the furniture in Yarraville. They even throw in an extra dim sim or potato cake for free! I wish them all the best and I will continue to be a loyal customer to them.

I'm a bit of a foodie having been to many other places to try a variety of dishes and I must say you can't get it any better than this place. I have been coming here for the past 15 years and it is still by far my favourite fish and chips shop.
I've eaten fish and chips all over the world and throughout Australia, and I can tell you the fish along with everything else that is sold at "Under the Sea," is the best. Fresh produce, hamburgers and souvlaki are great. However, it's the smiling faces and the service that keeps me coming back!!!
Service is friendly and professional, the kitchen looks spotless and you can tell the oil is changed regularly.
Chips are delicious plenty of options for a veggie with burger/souvlaki/falafel etc.
Not too shabby. I like how there is an abundance of local Australian fish to choose from and it's not focused on imported catfish like many other fish and chips shops are. My only quibble is I don't like how the fish and chips are wrapped up tight in paper as the batter on the fish goes soggy as do the chips. I'll ask for it to be boxed next time and then I think I'll enjoy it more.
Can't get the Disney song out of my head....awesome choice for fish and chips. They offer some good sides such as salad which mixes it up a bit.
We thought when we moved house away from an amazing fish and chip shop we would struggle to find another one as good. Luckily we moved round the corner from this place! Fantastic fish and chips - chips done just right and great, crispy fish. We always get blue grenadier and have never been disappointed. They always throw in an extra potato cake which is the mark of an excelled fish and chippery in my book :)
Great fish and chips. Burgers are not bad either. But I was really surprised of the selection of salads. Maybe I'm kidding myself but I feel less guilty if I'm eating a good salad with my fatty fish and chips.

Nice fish n chips. Good feed and good bang for buck. Friendly service, quality chips and fish. Decent sizes too. Parking around the area is a nightmare. But hey, that doesn't effect the food.

Everything you could need. This place is pretty badass. It does everything you need a fish & chip shop to do. Good food at reasonable prices, and the burgers are pretty damn good too (because let's face it, most other choices in the area are needlessly expensive chain-store rubbish). The people that run it are good folk who know their stuff.

Typical chip shop, but not bad. I wouldn't go so far as to call Under the Sea the BEST fish and chips, but it's an OK version of the standard Aussie shopping-street fried-food palace. I stopped here for a quick picnic on a pushbike-riding jaunt around Yarraville and surrounds when I couldn't find a local place to buy a hamburger. (What is it with Y'ville that it only has chain burger joints there any more, and don't tell me to go to the Blarney Stone for one, because that place looks scary-daggy these days.) Under the Sea has a decent deal with a piece of fish-of-the-day, a small pile of chips and a soda for $9, so that's what I went for. Clean taste on the fish, no "old oil" flavour to the chips, not overly greasy. Judging from the punters I saw popping in at mid-arvo on a Saturday, Under the Sea has a loyal clientele. This place was going strong when I lived in Yarraville for a few months in 2005-2006, and I'm sure it will be there in another decade, because every Aussie shopping centre must have a chip shop. This one certainly fills the bill, without running up the docket.
The best fish & chips in the west.. We love this fish & chip shop! The fish is always fresh with great crispy batter and the guys in the shop are always friendly. Good value for money too.
