Review Seoul Soul - Abbotsford

Alvin Wong
We came here after seeing the 40% off on Liven. It was a quiet Monday evening with a few tables occupied. The staff was very friendly. The tofu Bibimbap was flavorful with the chilli sauce. Korean fried chicken with spring onions was good too. Will be back for sure.

Flavours not bad but unfortunately for the amount of ingredients served, the price is not justifiable. I get a few strands of 1cm of calamari pieces with small 5-10cent sized mussels n tiny pipis in my “seafood” stew for $15. Either reduce the price so that I can order 2 or put more substantial ingredients into your dishes!

Edit: came back here with family and all the food was delicious. The bibimbap with beef was excellent. No complaints from anyone. Friendly staff and cool vibe. Food was ok looked fantastic though.

No other customer except for me when I came here on Wednesday night which felt a little weird. I have been here in the past when they were next door and back then they are always packed. The menu definitely looks a lot more impressive than before. Ordered the Korean chicken schnitzel which was great but the chips was soggy :(

Food: good quality Service: good and friendly staffs We ordered 3 meals, but only one of them has meat. The other two are Kimchi Pancake and Tobbooki with cheese... The BBQ (as the picture) wasnt as expected. A little bit small for 2-3 people as they introduced
Peter Kontogeorgis
Had the hot stone Bibimbap. Unfortunately was somewhat underwhelming. It looked great however the texture (no contrast) and flavour (underseasoned) were off. Will give it another go with another dish as the reviews seem to be generally favorable.

Really delicious food! Some Korean classics (bibimbaps, etc) but some delicious modern Korean dishes as well. Loved it 🇰🇷
Beth Wildgoose
Ordered the bibimbap and was pleasantly surprised with the taste. The meat was a little grisly but their kimchi pancakes are amazing!

The food portion has noticeably shrunk from the last time I ate there

Visited Melbourne for a weekend and ended up going back here twice because foods freakin amazing. Service is great too, girl who served us both times were super nice and gave good recommendations. I can’t wait to come back!

Great food & Service

Best Korean fried chicken in Melbourne by far!

Food was just okay okay. We ordered pork and beef bibimbap. As the rating was quite high, we expect it to be good but it was just meh. So quite disappointing. Maybe other dishes would be better? I don’t know. Enlighten me.

This restaurant had relocated from few buildings away and looks American casual dining style.<br/>It was pretty empty on Saturday noon.<br/>The tasty small KFC fried chicken pieces main size was reasonable $33, adding very thin cut frozen product of hot chips and Bundaburg lemon lime bitter cost me total of $45 for my son.<br/>I better go to KFC for large chips with family pack.<br/><br/>

Been visiting this place numerous times for lunch. Love their dosirack and bibimbap. Tasty and affordable lunch options. Great service too even on peak hours.
Bites Of Melbourne
Cool place, good food, service was ok <br/>Nothing really to xo plain about <br/>Would visit again maybe in a big group <br/>Good to try something different

We really enjoyed the food but unfortunately quite a number of items were off the menu tonight as we were told they had been thrown away due to hot weather! So no bbq set A platter, no eggplant, no mixed seafood salad and some other things too. I know veggie prices are high at the moment, maybe that was the problem because the amount of pickle with the generous serve of fried chicken didn’t even half fill the tiny bowl. The one waitress serving the entire restaurant was very friendly and helpful but clearly run off her feet.
Eating Away Melbourne
Was around the corner in Abbotsford and did not know what to have so entered this shop. Classic Korean food. Ordered kimchi pancake, a bibimbab and some sort of rice dish. Yes and of course a soju. Everything was nice. Nothing too exciting tho.

I love this place! I go there for lunch all the time and their lunch special is fantastic. 4 stars for the value as the dishes cost around $11-$13 and therefore I have no complaints because I think this is as good as it gets for the prince range.<br/><br/>Good flavours, authentic Korean food and lovely staff. <br/><br/>My favourite is the hot stone bibimbab and the kimchi tofu dish - highly recommended for lunch or a quick bite in the evening, however, I wouldn’t go there for dinner as it reminds me of an old diner and lacks cozy dinner atmosphere<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

Been here a couple of times and each time the service was lack luster.<br/>The last time I went to the Abbotsford venue, my entire table were sick with food poisoning the following day. <br/><br/>I certainly wont be back. <br/><br/>Food saftey in this day and age is paramount and this should not happen.<br/>Some advise, don't risk it.
Diva Isabel Nebreda
I love the atmosphere in this place, good music, good service, the food was very good with amazing flavours the only bad is not a big portion and the price is ok
Scott Kennedy
Been here a few times now. There service is really bad. Getting orders wring with no apology.<br/>Food is ok. But not worth the hefty price tag.<br/>Will not be going back.
Steven W
Two friends and I went for dinner and all 3 of us got food poisoning. This was the only place we had seen each other in over 3 weeks so we know 100% that this was where we got the food poisoning. We then emailed the venue to raise this and 3 weeks later still waiting for a reply. I certainly won't be eating at this venue ever again and I would recommend to the venue to respect your customer more.

Three of us tried the lunch specials for Friday lunch on a whim after hopping off a tram right outside. The interior is quite modern and spacious. The restaurant was relatively quiet yet the service was a little on the slow side. Two of us ordered the chicken schnitzel with chips. The schnitzel was covered in spicy mayo and BBQ sauce with a very crispy crumb but was quite thin and slightly dry. The chips were standard thin French fries. The small salad was fresh and tasty. The remaining order was for a beef hot stone bibimbab. While it was tasty, the bowl was so hot that the food in the bottom half of the bowl burnt and stuck to the bowl.

Nice restaurant with good ambience, food was pretty good, didn’t take photos because I didn’t anticipate to write anything. Staff were all friendly, and pretty welcoming. Would recommend the fried chicken (we got original), grilled kimchi pork belly, and kimchi stew. Would come back again for a lunch maybe (we went during dinner time).

Hate the fact Zomato has dropped the 'half star' rating as Seoul Soul would be 3.5 stars.<br/><br/>Having expanded its Victoria St premises and moved next door, some of the intimacy of the old has been lost. But the gain is greater - considerably more space and less sense of being hemmed in. The decor is a little odd - feels there's too much space and consequently not too sure what to do with it. But I'm sure that would be less apparent when totally full.<br/><br/>Food was a mixed bag. Half a boneless chicken with shredded cabbage and mayo the weak link - very ordinary and pales into insignificance compared to the chicken 200 metres away at Masil. But Seoul Soul does offer slightly more sophisticated items on the menu, including the excellent pork galbi (grilled bbq ribs served with spicy dipping sauce, lettuce, radish) and, as a starter, eggplant and burnt sprouts with thick sauce. (First time in many, many years that I have eaten sprouts!).<br/><br/>Easygoing and friendly, whilst preference is for Masil when looking to eat Korean on Victoria St, Masil is closed on a Monday whilst Seoul Soul is not!

**3.5 stars** This Korean restaurant which has been doing pretty well for itself the past year in Richmond has just reopened next door. Revamped with more space and a much cooler interior design/structure, customers will be left feeling more comfortable than previously before. Seats are set further apart on the long blue-tiled communal table that curves in the middle. The pink neon light that curves with the table adds a nice feel to the ambience, not to mention the numerous plants that decorate the room. There are also some more tables and booths on the sides of the room. Food wise, it’s ordinary Korean cuisine. There’s nothing that sets it apart for other Korean restaurants... I also found the original boneless fried chicken to be dry and plain. Although it was served with some radish, it definitely needed sauce or something. Service is okay. Staff are friendly. I’d come back here if I’m craving Korean cuisine and I’m in the area. The menu does offer more variety in comparison to other restaurants nearby.
Quince And Cheese
Definitely not as good as their location in Northcote (for some reason), but still good. The spicy, fried rice cakes are perfect in texture and flavour. Hot tip- get some steam buns, fill them with sizzling tofu, then dip them in the rice cake glaze.<br/><br/>As for the tofu itself, it's very thick and fried, not grilled, which was slightly disappointing. Even more so was the japchae. It featured flat noodles as opposed to the traditional thin style, and the sauce/veggies didn't have great flavour. I'd opt for a bibimbap or dosirak instead

We had the lunch special. It was great value for money! My daughter loved the korean noodles with beef. Soup was so tasty. Bibimbap was excellent as well. We are definitely coming back

Enjoyed their authentic Korean food at Seoul Soul. We visited here on weekday lunch time and there were a few customer.<br/>Ordered crispy spicy fried chicken balls, hot stone bibimbab and soft tofu hot pot. Food was served in timely manner and every plates were delicious.<br/>Especially, soft tofu hot pot was better than other Korean restaurant I've ever been.<br/>Just they only have hard stool for sitting, so not really comfortable to stay longer.<br/><br/>

As you walk in, you’re greeted by a cozy and intimate atmosphere that warms you up perfectly in the bitter cold of Melbourne winter outside. <br/><br/>I personally ordered a Spicy Beef Bulgogi, which was superbly balanced. The necessity of a side of rice was supported brilliantly by stir fried beef that came in such a manner it was easy to spread across the rice, whilst also being soft and tender enough to melt into your mouth. The dish also came with a side of rocket lettuce, which came with a sprinkle of lemon juice to counter that heat coming from the stir fried beef. Additionally, 2 spring rolls support the dish and add extra depth. <br/><br/>Overall, for $11, the dish is a steal, offering the intense flavour of Korean cuisine and the intimacy of an atmosphere symbolic of Korean culture. So much so, I wondered when the police would lock me up. <br/><br/>Service was also outstanding. Highly rated
Lee Ann Low
Not bad but not great! There wasn't a lot of options in the lunch menu and i wish there was more delicious things to choose! The food is good but i could go to other places for more choice and similarly good food.
The Hunger Trail
Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>We stopped by here wanting to satisfy our craving for Korean food and ordered the deep fried crispy chicken balls, deep fried salt and pepper squid, spicy tofu hotpot (soondubu jjigae), beef potato noodles (japchae) and korean style noodle soup. And what a pleasant surprise this place was. Food was fresh, flavoursome and filling. Our favourites in particular were the spicy tofu hotpot and japchae which were very well flavoured.<br/><br/>Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>Staff were attentive and friendly. Food also did not take long to arrive.<br/><br/>Price: 🌟🌟🌟.5<br/>Fairly inexpensive for the lunch time deals and well priced considering the quality of the dishes.

I liked the rice cake dish and spicy tofu soup so much!! I also saw there are some lunch specials. Definitely go back to try these specials.

This place was one of my favourite Korean restaurants. It served great food at reasonable price.<br/>My visit back in November was a disappointment. Although the menu name is still the same, they have changed the recipe and I found a completely different tasting dish. It was not total bad, but a real disappointment because they used to do so much better.<br/>Then I visited this place again last week. They changed the recipe again for the same menu item. This last one was the worse. What supposed to be beef bulgogi almost had no traces of beef inside. Just a bunch of vegetables with almost non existent beef. To be fair, the menu is still reasonably priced. Perhaps they try to keep the price, sacrificing their food quality.<br/>Anyway, this place is off my favourite list for now. Hope they will realise their mistake and serve good food again.
Linda
Food came out incredibly quickly. Very quickly, I also realised why. The kimchi pancakes were all pre-cooked and reheated. It still had tiny bits of aluminium foil stuck to it. It wasn’t even served fully reheated. The sizzling pork bulgogi was also served suspiciously quickly. There was more sliced onion in it than actual meat. The hot bibimbap was ok. Ok - but not worth returning for. Overall - poor.
Reba Finn
Food is really tasty and restaurant makes a real effort for delivery food as well with little containers for the different components <br/>Close proximity
Christina Mathiasz
I think I visit this place almost once a month! One of my favourite lunch spots! Delicious, well priced, good cosy atmosphere. Kimchi pancakes, bimimbab and dosirak (all of them) are tasty and are worth going back for every time.
Elena Yip
Not that good as I expected but the crispy squid and soy milk taste very nice few Korean restaurants serve that kind of soy milk. The Hot Stone rice tastes dull.<br/>

Seoul Seoul is a place in Victoria st Richmond. I had a hankering for going there from not having been there for a while. Marathon training has eaten most of my time last year. Victoria st has changed a lot. Here Vintage cellars used to be there and then there are more Westernized places opening up.
Maxkruse10
Loved this place... Super friendly and attentive staff and the food is priced very well for the portion sizes. Flavours are great as well. The restaurant is quite small but would definitely recommend to friends and family !

We stumbled upon 'Seoul Soul' on my list, we came across it while having adventures (for me, not him) with H, but have yet to return till now. It could have been a place on the list for years, but we made it within the same year of discovery!. Located on Victoria St next to Safeway & Aldi, it was easy to get to on the 109 Box Hill tram, though not in an area I'd go to alone at night.
Mrs Mark
A solid 4.0. Reasonably priced, quick and attentive service. The dumplings were surprisingly good and came served in a broth. The kimchi pancake was a winner too

Best Korean food everrrrrrrrr!<br/>Great friendly staff and awesome food. Definitely one of my go tos for a Korean feed 👌🏻 the mushroom bibimbap is my favourite, as well as the fried rice cakes. Definitely recommend this place!
Lex Xiao
Consistently great food and great service. Highly recommended the kimchi pancake and bibambap. Very nice place to hang out for lunch or dinner.
Mini Mooi
Very friendly staff and good service. This place is very cosy and nice atmosphere. We had beef bulgogi and bibimbap. The food had a little bit of a strong flavour but kimchi was good.
Hina Rastogi
This was our first visit to a korean restaurant and it was mind blowing!! We had chicken bibimbap and spicy prawns. Bibimbap was flavorful and thanks to the lovely server who mixed it up for me (in my defence, it was looking too pretty 😍). Spicy prawns were full of heat and had kimchi on the side, if you felt the heat wasn't enough:D
Rose Sara
This place is a hidden gem! It has an easygoing atmosphere, the staff are really friendly and the food was great. I definitely recommend this place

Seoul Soul is situated in Victoria st close to Woolworths North Richmond, accessible by public transport (Tram 12 and 109).<br/>The slick, modern interior design with the industrial feel and raw concrete wall makes this place different from other Korean restaurants in this area.<br/>The customer staffs were friendly and nice serving with smile.<br/>The place is not so spacious but more than enough to manage more than 20 customers.<br/><br/>We ordered lunch special menu - Spicy Beef Bulgogi (mandarin dressing, mix salad, onion, green bean, carrot) for $11.00.<br/>The dish was served uniquely in the traditional bamboo bowl. <br/>The mix salad served was really fresh and spring rolls were fresh, crunchy and had great taste.<br/>The beef bulgogi was cooked perfectly. It was very tender and juicy. <br/>The sauce used in the beef bulgogi wasn't too strong which made this dish even better.<br/><br/>Really recommended to order The Beef Bulgogi!<br/>We enjoyed to vibe, environment and the food in this restaurant.<br/>Certainly come back to try other dishes.<br/><br/>Service : 4.0<br/>Taste : 4.5<br/>Price : 3.0<br/>Speed : 4.0<br/><br/>Yay : Spicy Beef Bulgogi was fantastic!<br/>Nay : N/A<br/><br/>Location: 323 Victoria Street, Abbotsford, Melbourne<br/>Phone: 0478 768 760<br/>Website: seoulsoulgroup.com

After much hearing about this place we finally decided to go for dinner one day. Firstly we had a huge difficulty finding the place at one go, even being on the main street as its board is not very clear. <br/>The seating is quite small and bot very comfortable, more like for quick bites. Nonetheless we ordered the food, for which we came for. The food was good in raste but the portions were very small in comparison to the price. The grape drink was very good but again so small in size for the price. <br/>We left the place with not fully satisfied and full.<br/>I would personally not go back again, when I can get better portions in same price with good flavours elsewhere.
Linda
Escaping Victoria St in Abbotsford on a cold night into this cozy, little warm place made me feel very safe. Ordered the beef bibimbap and chicken bulgogi as dishes and both were really palatable and the meat were flavoursome. One thing is that I wished there was more beef in the bibimbap and that a lot of sauce (complementary so all good) must be added or else the rice would taste bland. The black bean soy milk is a good try as it definitely doesn't taste like typical soy milk. Staff were very friendly and kind. The background music played threw in some kpop (as you do in korean restaurants), One Direction and Beyonce etc, making me feel all different kinds of vibes while eating haha!

I am so lucky that Seoul Soul is only a stone's throw from my office. I ordered the beef bulgogi bibimbap. The service was welcoming and friendly, food was fast, tasty and on point and the ambience of the cafe felt like you could easily escape the hustle and bustle of Victoria Street. I definitely recommend dining here.

Staff is great, quick service. Two glasses were dirty. Good soul music at the right volume. As other reviewers have identified, the food taste great though the servings are small. The kitchen is visible, which is great for those who love to cook. The pork belly looked more like bacon.

This place has a great aura. Place is small but very well arranged and with minimal decor. The staff girls were really nice, kind and helpful. The food was delicious! We had the deep-fried chicken balls to start with, then I had the stir-fried tofu and boyfriend tried the bibimbap. All was very tasty 😋 Our beers were good as well, my first rice beer! I definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Found this place pretty interesting and its clearly different from the usual Korean places. Ordered just the BBQ platter and Pork Bulgogi. Presentation gives a homey kinda feel but I dont mind. Interesting flavors tbh. <br/><br/>Dont think Ill head back tho. Give it a try!

Amazing food! Every single dish was incredible (we had the soybean stew, kimchi pancake and ddeokbokki with cheese). The portions, however, were small, and it's always disappointing not to get banchan at a Korean place.<br/>Service was ok, interiors were great. Would come back :)
Teona
Arrived here at exactly 6pm and the place was empty as expected, but after about 10 minutes the whole place filled up. <br/>Loved their pork belly!! Perfect flavor and side dishes. Portion is small though in my opinion. I have to order another one :)
Lee
Very friendly staff and warm atmosphere, however the menu was quite small.. My friend and I ordered the soybean hot pot and the kbbq set. The hot pot had a strong taste, but was still enjoyable. The meat set however, wow.. there was so much beef!! Unfortunately the bulgogi was quite dry and a pain to chew... though the pork belly is to die for :) The homemade kimchi did not taste nice at all, I'd really rather buy a container from korean convenient stores.<br/>We had ordered a bibimbap for take-away... there was barely any vegetables or toppings in our container, and the rice was dry. <br/><br/>Interesting place, but the beef and kimchi disappointed me way too much..
Kath's Food Indulgences
Flavoursome, fresh and crispy ingredients and presented so nicely! A hidden Korean gem on Victoria street if you felt like something different!<br/><br/>Pictured: kimchi pancake, spicy pork bulgogi, beef bibimbap

Came here with vegetarian friends not knowing what to expect. It was amazing. We ordered a range of dishes and shared. Their kimchi is vegetarian friendly, and it's seriously delicious. Their Northcote restaurant is just as good.
Lei Wu
The decoration of the restaurant looks good.the udon noodle soup was too plain but the hot stone bowl was alright. Overall it's bit pricy but sounds reasonable considering its location. Hence not recommended.
Albany Wong
I have been a loyal customer of this establishment for many years and I have often driven from afar just to get their pork belly dish which is absolutely to die for. I have always found their dishes excellent value for money especially with the free kim chi side dishes with every take away order. <br/><br/>On my last visit there however I was surprised to see a complete overhaul of the menu, with more than a slight price increase on every menu item and shocked to see the pork belly dish went from $17 to a whopping $23 excluding rice. Adding insult to injury they also ceased giving the kim chi side dishes for free to paying customers and now incur an added charge. <br/><br/>Simply put, there are many other Korean restaurants in Melbourne and the vast majority of them do not charge $23 for pork belly excluding rice, and I for one will take my business else where to a more reasonably priced establishment until they realise the importance of a loyal patronage and lower their prices accordingly.
KH
It's name does stand out for the food: Seoul-Soul (so-so). Had the kimchi pot and the dukbokki. Kimchi pot is delicious but the dukbokki is a tag on the tough rubbery side. Atmosphere is great as it does look like a pub style with pub food.
Lucy
Delicious Korean food in a fun, casual setting. Lots of lovely cold beer (but no wine by the glass?). Try the Korean bbq set if you are hungry, fantastic flavours. Very competitively priced against other offerings in Victoria Street.
Monsieur Grincheur
This is only a small place but we were able to walk in on a Tuesday night and easily get a table (stainless steel) and get served rapidly. It was good to find a beer to my liking (Grizz, American amber ale) on a short drinks menu. The starters we picked were all good, including an eggplant one, prawn dumplings, and the bizarre grilled haloumi with vegetables (Korean/Greek fusion?). It was actually a real hit. The mains we had were pork bibimbap, pork bulgogi and a spicy prawn offering. We all loved those. The only hiccup for the meal was that our waitress accidentally mixed up one of our meals with a meal for a guy on the other end of our table. She quickly fixed this, taking away the wrong order and getting a fresh one made in not too many minutes. The experience was good for a quick meal, and the food can be recommended. <br/>

Ordered: <br/>🎋Ddukbokki with extra cheese ($2): home made with sweet chilli sauce, fish cake, rice cake ($11) <br/><br/>Food review: <br/>🌴I tend to not like ddukbokki because most places have it a foam-like texture so it's too chewy and awkward to eat. But this place? Smashed it. It's soft and it's not too elastic- how I assume it's meant to be made. Definitely get the extra cheese as well!! <br/>I also ordered the tofu bibimbap as well but it was nothing compared to the glory of ddukbokki. <br/><br/>In regards to the tofu bibimbap, the tofu pieces were larger than the ones provided at Oriental Spoon 2. This means that I wasn't missing the tofu flavour, however, the vegetables on top weren't harmonious as the ones provided at Oriental Spoon. <br/>Any chance I can get the fusion of both? Large tofu pieces and oriental spoon everything else? <br/><br/>Service: <br/>Pretty slow, but considering they were packed and with essentially only one waitress, I felt kind of bad. But overall, I guess it gave me plenty of time to get to know my lunch mate? <br/>Smiles all around so the waitress wasn't hard to approach. <br/>Walk up and pay at the counter when you're done with the meal! :)
Tina Salameh
This place was fab! I went here last week and reallllly enjoyed the spicy chicken, and the beef bulgogi. The calamari wasn’t too bad, but not as good as the hot plates. I particularly liked all of the sides that came with the main dishes, fresh and varied with flavour. I’ll be coming back here. Still on the hunt for a really good Korean BBQ place so if anyone reading this review knows of one, please send me a pm!

My rating is by 50, 10 for environment, 10 for service, 10 for taste, 10 for quality, 10 for serving size.<br/><br/>The store size is nice and compact, very trendy, 10.<br/><br/>Service is very good, nice friendly and they care about the place they work 10.<br/><br/>Taste was excellent, many flavours per place 9.<br/><br/>Quality was very good, just some minor hard bits left on the chicken 8.<br/><br/>Serving size is 8, it's enough to satisfy the hungry worker.<br/><br/>Total 45.<br/><br/>I will be returning many times in future. Highly recommended.

Love this Korean restaurant very much before. But recently had very bad experience that there’s egg shell and a bug in the soft tofu stew.
Wei-Chi Lee
Very tasty options here, simple but well prepared and with good flavours. The service is also quick and friendly. Overall a good cheap meal with no complaints.
Paige M
What s great find! It's almost a hole in the wall is so small but good things really do come in small packages. Get the bibimbap (is that how you spell it?!) and enjoy the authenticity of the place. Will return!

We've got option along here, not just Vietnamese .....<br/><br/>Yeap, Korean delight, quaint, 30 seats, simple "concrete" industrial theme, communal tables and some tables for two.<br/><br/>Simple, no nonsense Menu, tasty, wholesome, reflecting their origin, good drink list and very pleasant service.<br/><br/>Sister restaurant in Northcote, kamsa hamida.
J0yy173
Get all your nutrients in one bowl with a beef bibimbap. Add some fragrant sesame oil and spicy sauce and we have a wholesome, tasty meal. Quick, friendly service in a cozy setting. A satisfying discovery.

Love love love this place. One of my abbotsford favourites. It seems like no one pays attention to this guys but the food and the space is so authentic.
Javier Aznar Peláez
Best South Korean food ever!<br/>Really delicious, very good quality and quantity. I spend around 20€ (no drinks) and I was full. I'll go back soon!

Sometimes you can find the best food for the best prices.<br/>Dishes were very tasty, simple but flavorsome.<br/>Service was friendly and helpful as well. Will definitely be back.
Lisa
The service here was good as staff were very attentive and quick.  The dosirak, bibimbap and tteokbokki all tasted amazing and was very flavousome. I will definitely make a return here again.
Gee
Recommended by a colleague and didn't disappoint. Went with the fairly safe teriyaki chicken lunch set. Will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes!
DAMMIT JANET I LOVE FOOD
Deep Fried School Prawns - Crispy and addictive, especially with the accompanying sweet chilli sauce....Small place with quick service and tasty Korean fare. I’d visit again if I was in the area and after a quick Korean meal...
Judene Messi
So tasty! And they cook the food really quickly as well. Had beef noodle soup, colleagues had beef bi bim bap and beef bulgogi. We had the rice cakes to share. Everything was really well made and but the rice cakes could be spicier. Noodle soup had a lot of beef and veges so that was good. Bi bim bap was abit small and bland but we were satisfied overall
Ket
All the dishes were great! Bimbimbap was still bland even after the sauces. Wished it was abit more crispier. I love there side dishes in the cute jars. I only wish they expand the place so it doesnt feel so cramped inside. Otherwise, cute place to eat out. <br/>
Patricia
Great staff and great food! First time here and definitely more visits to come. The crispy chicken salad was really crispy with a side of salad that was tangy and refreshing. The beef bulgogi udon was wonderful with a broth of deliciousness. The spicy calamari meal bucket had a nice balance of spiciness with a tasty croquette.
The Emm Factor
Wandered in on a whim for a quick and relaxed early Saturday evening meal. Thankfully, we were not disappointed. Friendly, attentive staff in a warm and cosy environ was matched with the food. We shared deep fried school prawns. Tasty, crunchy and well seasoned. For main I had the spicy beef bulgogi and my wife went with the kimchee noodle soup. Both meals were very good, satisfying, big serves and cheap in price. A real nugget here and am sure you wouldn't be disappointed.
Mike C
Very funky Korean restaurant that is easy to miss. Serves traditional Korean dishes in a modern way reinterpreting some classics. New style avocado bibimbap was quite tasty and the chargrill pork was delicious but fatty. The salads were nothing special and you can never go wrong with fried school prawns. The grape bong bong drink was nice but needed extra kick. Enthusiastic service, however it's a bit weird they have all the BBQ equipment like the grill and exhaust fans but doesn't work. Overall still recommended to try for Korean food with a twist.
Amy W
Every time we go to Seoul Soul we get the same thing - I get the stone bowl bibimbap and he gets the dosirak. Tasty and great value. Good for a quick feed.
Michelle Ploypailin
Seoul Seoul is a modern Korean restaurant in Abbotsford. Prawns dumpling quite good; crispy and tasty. Spicy calamari is so so average. Not the best value but okay
Aparna Attawar
More poky than we were expecting and the grills didn't work but that didn't deter us! Got the lovely barbecue pork and beef bulgogi with japchae and a shrimp pancake. The waiter was really nice, recommended some good beers and the black bean Soy milk is so good! Would recommend!
Felisha Mendoza
A friend and I each got a meal, kimchi, miso, drinks and tea...to find the bill was only $40! Not to mention all the ingredients were really fresh and cooked perfectly.<br/><br/>I've only got good things to say about this place and will definitely make a return!
Fredrik Persen Fostvedt
Absolutely killer Korean food for an outrageoisly low price. I paid $15 for a spicy beef bulgogi. It came with two incredibly tasty dumplings, a great versatile salad, amazing kimichi and pickled radish. Super flavorful. I could not find anything I did not like about this meal. This place rules!
Luke And Hannah
Pretty decent Korean food here on Victoria St. We're not sure if this place was also run by the same owner as other nearby Korean places such as Arisoo but the food was of the same high standard. We're ordered the grilled pork belly and the beef ribs which were both delicious. The pork belly was smoky, which went so well with the sauces accompanying, especially the salt/sesame oil. The beef was very tender and well marinated. Staff were super attentive and friendly. We also like the decor and setup, small but cozy. Prices were cheap as well. Highly recommended!
Shazzamataz
Great place for lunch, but get there early, its small and fills up fast. Dishes of particular note are the claypot bibimbap and the kimchi noodle soup! As mentioned by others, food never diappoints! Oh, and give the kimchi pancakes a go!
Melbournefoodieee
I have been to this place for more than five times now. The food never disappoints. If you love cheese and rice cakes then you should definitely come here. Good portion good flavours and not sickening at all. The restaurant has a very cute interior design too.
Millicent
Not entirely authentic, but a fun and modern twist on Korean food. Service can be a little slow, but the food comes out quickly. The kimchi pancake is really good, and the meal boxes are very filling.

This is an excellent Korean restaurant. It's only small but the food is great, and the service is equally as good. I've had the spicy chicken box here a few times now and it doesn't disappoint. I keep coming back as the food is reasonably priced and they serve a range of interesting Korean drinks.

We didn't expect that much when we first came there. We were so hungry and just wanted to give a try this little restaurant that looked a bit different than other restaurants in Richmond. But turns out food were really tasty and price were reasonable. We had spicy bulgogi and bibimbap.
Laura Chisnall
We really enjoyed our dinner here tonight! Reasonably priced, fast service and so tasty. There were plenty of vegetarian options. Will definitely be back!
DuckieLovesToEat
I came here and ordered spicy bulgogi and I was not disappointed. I found it tasty and for the price, it was good portion too. I think I will come back and try the other dishes. I recommend this place to whoever is having Korean cravings. Lovely staff too!

We had beef bibimap, calarmari dosurak and the kimchi hotpot. All marked as popular dishes on the menu - and we loved them! Calamari was good as, kimchi hotpot was delicious, hot and spicy! Bibimap was a comforting bowl of spicy eggy YUM. We will definitely be back! Great prices, quick service. Thank u Seoul Soul!

Delicious! Highly recommend to anyone wanting a simple, tasty Korean meal. And really solid vegetarian options. Will be going back and taking friends.

Came here the other night for a dinner with friends and loved the cosy atmosphere of this tiny gem on Vic street. Food was delicious and fresh and everyone was pretty satisfied. We all loved the crispy fried chicken which was served with a delicious citrus salad which basically made it healthy... right?

Uber cute little Korean restaurant nestled among the Vietnamese restaurants of Victoria Street in Abbotsford. Great little fitout in what is a pretty small place.<br/><br/>For a place this small it has a lot of variety on the menu - and remains consistently good nevertheless. They do the usual Korean staples such as Bip Bim Bap, pancakes and barbecue, but also have a number of other interesting dishes.<br/><br/>Small yet appropriate range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.<br/><br/>Service is pleasant if a little haphazard, and you may need to reiterate orders.<br/><br/>A more than decent option for a quick, reasonably priced meal.
M_art_in
As a Korean myself I will not hesitate in saying this is the best Korean restaurant in Melbourne. Literally everything is to die for and at a very reasonable price. The must-try are the fried prawn dumplings which are light and crispy and are served on a bed of sweet kimchi. Also the spicy pork dosirak and ddeokbokki were delicious too. Will be coming back very soon and very often.

We were doing our usual weekend grocery shop in Richmond and it was lunchtime. Seoul Soul was conveniently located and I remember having a decent meal there a few years back and Steve fancied trying it. We ordered some pork dumplings and some veggie dumplings and they were tasty with a crunchy outer shell unlike the steamed or fried dumplings we usually have. These tasted more baked. The pickled veg they were sat on was fragrant with sesame and packed a fiery punch.

Cute and cozy Korean restaurant, excellent presentation of food and a modern take on Korean cuisine. <br/><br/>I came here for lunch, although I can imagine this would be a pretty nice place to come for dinner in a small group (< 4) or with a date ;). This restaurant surprisingly takes up a very small floor space, so there is not a lot of seating inside and you will be seated on high stools - this might not be too comfy. <br/><br/>In terms of the food, I liked it! I ordered the beef bulgogi noodle soup; thick noodle in mildly flavoured broth topped with beef bulgogi and mixed vegetables. Perhaps the udon and broth made it taste more Japanese than Korean, but none the less, it was yum and flavoursome. Indeed, the food here is not quite your authentic Korean, but the chefs in the kitchen have given Korean food a modern twist. Creative and well presented.

Simply loved it!!!! Small cozie!! Loved their pickled cabbage! The serving where good size! Enjoyed my lunch!!!! Liked their decoration! Will definetly go back again!!!!

Taste: 3.5/5<br/>Services: 3/5<br/>Atmosphere: 3/5 . Its quite noisy and small place not a goo place for chit chat<br/>Value: 3/5<br/>Presentation: 3/5<br/>Overall, not a oustanding korean resto as it does not have original authentic korean taste, it kinda change to cope with western taste, so if you looking for something SO korean then i dont recommend this resto. Good to try thou
Hello. Imnikki
A cosy but trendy  Korean restaurant with limited seating. Do go early if you want to grab a seat inside. The staffs are very attentive and pleasant. The food is not authentic per say but more of a modern take on Korean food. The Dosirak is really worth getting - reasonably priced and full of flavour. The seafood pancake can be a bit dry (kimchi pancake is much more moist) but this is not a major issue since it is served with a dipping sauce.
Unravelled
I really liked this restaurant. I love Korean food. I had the soft tofu stew - it was full of flavour. I probably would have preferred a vegetarian version, but it was made with seafood and that was also okay for me. The staff are all really nice and helpful. Raspberry wine was awesome.  Will definitely come back when in the area.

Great food, friendly staff and fast service. The place is small but has a great atmosphere. Went on a Saturday night and it was full, but didn't have to wait long for a table.

Wonderful. Food was amazing and the service was lovely. Food was prompt and extremely satisfying! Very pleasant atmosphere, great for catching up with friends!

Small and cozy. Tried the dosirak, kimchi soup and beef bulgogi. Food had strong flavor and large portions, overall it was good but not overly fantastic. Beef bulgogi could have been better. Pickled daikon and kimchi comes in cute little jars.

Bad and rude service! The food was not so good! Small places!! I still want to order more but the waitress take the menu directly.. Definitely will not coming back!!
Darren Borg
Absolutely love this place, it is really small and cosy, but hip and trendy. The service is amazing and it's reasonably priced. The food is always full of flavor and delicious and they have a good range of Korean beer and craft beer. I recommend this place highly.

I understand this isn't authentic Korean food, but "New Korean Standard" (as this restaurant claims) or a modern take on the cuisine. The name 'Seoul Soul' is in very small letters and is easy to miss from the street when you're looking for the place. Once inside, we found ourselves in a long and narrow room, with long tables and bar-style high stools. The lighting was dim, and that could make you feel dull, warm, or romantic - depending on your mood at that time; it made us mellow, and excited to try something new. The tables are so long that you are, in a way, sharing your table with others; but the restaurant was not so crowded or we would have felt as if we were part of a communal meal. The menu was extensive, and thankfully descriptive so we could choose carefully. Service was friendly and prompt.<br/><br/>CHICKEN BIBIMPAP ($11.00) was a bowl of steamed rice, marinated chicken in spicy sauce, poached egg topped with black sesame seeds, and thin strips of crunchy vegetables. As instructed on the menu, we stirred everything together thoroughly - the result was wholesome and extremely enjoyable. The strong flavours combined with the various textures (meat-vegetables-egg-rice) making for a memorable meal. However, it was just not spicy enough for my taste, and I added lots of chilli and soy sauces that were provided until it reached the right spot for my palate. <br/><br/>SPICY BEEF BULGOGI DOSIRAK ($10.00) was a "meal bucket" (as they had described it) featuring marinated beef in spicy sauce, stir-fried vegetables, steamed rice, and spring rolls. All the elements tasted good, but I didn't enjoy this as much as I did the bibimpap, mainly because the meat was chewy and the sight of stringy/stretchable meat turns me off a bit. <br/><br/>Tried the HOT CORN TEA ($2.00) was it was pretty much corn kernel-flavoured hot water. <br/><br/>The quantity, quality, and pricing made us leave the restaurant with a full stomach and a big smile.
Tia
Lovely small Korean joint offering several mouthwateringly delicious dishes. For starters the kimchi pancake isn't super spicy and rather moist, the prawn dumplings crispy and juicy. The pungent dipping sauce was delicious. For main I opted for the spicy calamari bucket, served with salad, potato croquette, fried spring roll and rice. A bit weird combo for Korean, but well balanced and nice variety. The spicy prawn bucket was rather peculiar with fried shrimp that supposedly were meant to be eaten with skin and all. Out group stayed after 10, the staff weren't pushing us out and even put on the happy birthday song for when we had (our own) cake. I still have many dishes on the menu I'd like to try.

This place is great, absolutely love it. Waitstaff aren't super happy but the food makes up for it. I have several meal buckets, bibimbap, and stir fry's and they have all been great. Especially the pork stirfry! Great value too. Gets busy and not a lot of tables so sometimes you have to wait and I don't think you can book.

This place serves some of the best korean available in Richmond. Nice little restaurant that is easy to miss. Had a range of small items and all of them were delicious.

Best Korean food I've had. Highly recommend the vegetarian dumplings, bibimbap & beef bulgohgi. Good service and seriously delicious food! Try it!

Tewt toot. Best place i have been to in 2015, Beef Bugoli meal bucket for $14 is insane value. <br/>If i could eat here every night i would not complain. more floor space would be great.
FOOD TRIP
Seoul Soul 323 Victoria Street Abbotsford VIC 3067 Cosy little Korean eatery in Richmond that's super affordable. Came by recommendation for their Kimchi Pancake. Worth it. Other dishes were also very yummy and beautifully presented (better to eat in than take away). Kimchi Pancake $8 cooked with various Vegetables and Kimchi Best kimchi pancake I've had. Thin, crispy and full of flavour. 9/10 Beef Bulgogi Dosirak $14 Beef Marinated with Soy sauce (meal bucket) Beef was super tender and great to have with the rice. Beautifully served and was delicious. 8.8/10 Chargrilled Pork Belly $14 Chargrilled Pork Belly on Grilled Onion served with Sesame Oil with Salt and Pepper and Home made Seasoned Soybean Sauce Not usually a fan of pork belly but this one was grilled very well. Lots of flavour yet the meat was still easy to eat. 8/10 Spicy PorkBulgogi Dosirak $14 Was average. Good flavour for the pork and medium spicy. 7/10 Beef Stone Pot Bibimbap (take away) $16 Average bibimbap. Maybe because we were missing the stone bowl. 6.5/10

Couldn't be more disappointed. Terrible meal from start to finish. The calamari was the same product you buy at the supermarket, just 3x the price. A reliance on store-bought frozen food. Main dish had what was clearly canned pineapple with a very 'tinny' taste. Tiny portions of the side dishes. Overall, pretty much a waste of time and money. They'd do better off actually cooking their own food and not buying it in already prepared.
Oliverga
Exceeds expectation. So glad we decided to walk in when we did! It's a definite hidden gem. The food was exceptional, everything we ordered was 10/10 delicious whilst also interesting. The char grilled pork belly was our absolute favourite, we were compelled to order a second serving. The staff were experienced and accommodating to everyone despite it being very busy. We felt quite welcomed and almost like we were in Korea as the atmosphere had a real cultural experience to it.<br/>Can't recommend this place enough! 101/10 guys.
Melbourne Food Review
The much hyped Seoul Soul is this trendy little place with only about six tables in the heart of vibrant and edgy Northcote, a suburb I spent my first seven years in. Back in those days, Northcote was still a good 20 years away from the ‘Million Dollar Club’ and rather than dodging expensive cars and hipsters on fixies, we dodged ‘bad needles’ left in the back lane and sold hand-picked loquats for the over-inflated price of 50 cents each on the footpath.
Eat Like Ushi
....Seoul Soul was a very welcome addition to the area several moons ago...a small corridor of a place, with decorative BBQ grills and fans (for what purpose I'm not sure but the Japanese/Korean mindset of lifelike roleplay seems to be it). There's a full house generally during weekday lunchtime, but the late afternoon is a much more pleasant time to sit and eat.
The Food Society
Seoul Soul has been one of our favorite finds this Summer.
Filled With Food
This hidden gem is narrow and can only fit up to 18 people on their high shared timbered tables, segregated by a wooden divider. Even though it is small you don’t feel claustrophobic at all. The restaurant has an industrial design, mixing wood and metal together. The food here is not authentic Korean but it has a modern and Westernised twist to it. The food is not expensive either and you will get your moneys worth.
Decisive Cravings
If you like food and a restaurant with soul then Seoul Soul on Victoria St will hit the spot. The fit out is sleek and minimalist, making for an intimate, understated but fun environment. Picture high tables decked with grills, making for easy eavesdropping and people watching. Choose from traditional Korean options like Bulgogi and Bibimbap (pictured) at very reasonable prices, as well as lighter sharing options like the Korean Tapas. Seoul Soul’s brings a new option to the usual Vietnamese fare on Victoria Street, and just as you’re used to at other Victoria Street haunts, you won’t leave hungry – the servings are sizeable.     Trading hrs: Monday – Wednesday 12pm – 3pm + 6pm – 9:30pm; Thursday – Sunday 12pm – 3:30pm + 5:30pm – 10pm. Address: 323 Victoria St, Abbotsford Ph: 0478 768 760 Website: Seoul Soul   Facebook: Seoul Soul Korean Restaurant   Notes: No BYO or bookings. There is a Korean craze in Melbourne these days. Just the CBD is packed with them. I do like Korean food. And I think that gochujiang is just genius! I would and could put it in everything - except maybe in something sweet. But then again, if someone came up with a dessert recipe with that in it, I will try it. Seoul Soul is tucked in layers and layers of Vietnamese groceries and joints here in Richmond and it does Korean food fairly well. For lunch, I got the Spicy Pork Bulgogi ($10). The servings are just right for me and I wasn't struggling to finish the bowl that's packed with spicy pork, a nice salad, a slice of canned peach, a slice of orange, a fried spring roll and a fried dumplings. A friend of mine however, had the stone pot chicken bowl and wasn't satisfied. She mentioned that there wasn't enough chicken the bowl. Hopefully, they can improve that on our next visit. For me, though there was nothing to complain about. I had a Kimchi Fried Rice from here a few months back and I
A Chronicle Of Gastronomy
The dish arrived steaming and crackling on the table and the waitress asked me if I would like sesame oil and/or chilli sauce on it. I said yes to both, and she subsequently made a circle of oil and a zigzag of chilli sauce on top.

It’s the best place to come when one has lack of an appetite. The food is presented so prettily and each dish is fresh with simple flavours. For this night’s selection, we chose chargrilled porkbelly, beef bulgogi udon and a chicken teriyaki bulgogi dosirak meal bucket. I particularly like the meal bucket because its just so cute and fun to eat from. If you have a chance, should take a special someone and enjoy a cute, quiet meal in this small restaurant. It’s certainly a slice of Korea on the busy streets of Abbotsford.
Seminimalista
The food was simple and delicious. Nothing short of my expectation. The Dosirak was rather on the sweet side, but that seems to be the standard taste of bulgogi marinade anywhere. The grilled pork belly and beef ribs, on the other hand, was not heavily marinated, which was great. I cleaned out even the two piles of onions underneath the meat.

....came to less than $26 per person. pretty good considering how much we ate. and it was nice! this korean place is really easy to be missed because it is just a tiny shop and the sign isn't very obvious. but the food was pretty good (:<br/>

Here in the heart of Richmond lies Seoul Soul, a place that solely focuses on delivery it’s patrons a hearty feed but simply the Korean way. The little restaurant offers a wide variety of cheap and filling meal buckets (dosirak) which is like your bento box in a bucket, bibimbap and noodle dishes. All of these of which are perfect for one hungry person or great to share as we saw four people share three different dosiraks. The industrious design and layout of Seoul Soul keeps the dining setting simple and allows you to focus on your meal or engaging with your fellow mate. Kimchi pancake $7.00 Kimchi pancakes are simply one of the things I must try at most Korean restaurants. I must admit that I was expecting a whole pancake when I ordered this starter as you would normally get at a Korean restaurant. I was a bit surprised to find that only two pieces were supplied and for what its worth, it was not worth it. Given that the pancakes were tasty and crispy in its own over battered kind of way, I found myself quite disappointed in this entree as I do love them pancakes. Stone pot tofu bibimbap (without egg) $12.00 For the main I could not stay away from ordering a stone pot bibimbap. The components of this bibimbap were plentiful and delicious. The gochujang sauce was served in separate sauce bottle which was a good thing too because it was lacking a bit of oomph. I found myself adding 2-3 times more gochujang than I would normally because the flavour was very mild. Stone pot stir fried kimchi bibimbap $13.00 The kimchi fried rice was taste, hearty and very filling. Perfect Korean comfort food if you ever need a little spice kick. We ate our rice stone pot dishes on a hot summer’s day which wasn’t ideal, but I could have rice all day everyday come rain or shine. Seoul Soul is definitely worth a little visit if your in the area. My initial intentions were to check our their meal buckets, but I was too tempted with the bibimbap. There’s always next time.       The post Se

Really nice, but.... Really good food; questionable use of pre-made frozen items. Using the frozen spring rolls and hash browns in the dosiraks are fine, but basing whole menu items is not. Got the crispy squid for 8$ to find it to be the frozen stuff from the supermarket.
Kevin Jung Hak Yun
Good food and friendly service. I go here regularly and even though they got new staff, they were still very friendly. My favourite dish however got removed so was a little disappointed with that (spicy pork jim) but now I eat the bibimbap or pork belly.

Came here after an exam and was promptly seated. The staff are friendly and laidback, and the music chill. I had the avocado bibimbap, and it was fresh and light. But still filling. Oh so filling. Will definitely be back for more!

Love the foods in the bucket!. Big portion and very well presented foods!

Outstanding. One of the best Korean restaurants I've been to.. and there's been quite a lot :) The Teriyaki Chicken Dosirak was fantastic and looked gorgeous. Girlfriend had the grilled pork and loved it! Staff is friendly, the place is cosy and well designed. This is the place to be. I could have payed 10 bucks extra and still be happy :) Will be back soon. Actually I can't wait I'm going back right n

Luv your food. It's really big serving compare to their price ! Food was absolutely yum ! best place for well balanced lunch

Came here on a cold winters day with my partner, I had beef bulgogi and she had pork bulgogi and it was awesome! Very cheap for the serving size and really yum! Bit strange for a Korean place to charge for sides like pickles and kimchi but everything is so cheap it doesn't really matter. Will return for sure!
Emmanate75
Seoul soul sooooooooo gooooooddd!!!. I had the spicy tofu meal bucket and it was amazing! The staff are super friendly, funky tunes and a really welcoming vibe. I will DEFINITELY be back! Thank you Seoul Soul :))

Amazing food. Went there for the first time a week ago. food was well portioned and really delicious. would definitely go there again.

Great meal. So happy!. My girlfriend and I took my two boys there today for lunch. Nice deep fried dumplings (pork and prawn). Ate the spicy pork and chicken bibimbab. Fantastic. Boys has the teriyaki chicken and raved. Great place, well priced, very fast. Very nice experience.

Coming back again!. Great interesting vegetarian food options. Everything I've tried is totally delicious! If you haven't been yet...treat yourself to Seoul Soul?

Spicy Pork Bibimbab. I have eaten here already twice for lunch and dinner and I find the food really good. I went on Saturday night and the place was really busy. I ordered the spicy pork bibimbab with soy milk which went really well with the spices of the dish. The interior design gives this cafe a stylish feel.
Leon Poggioli
Ordinary food. Food isn't great but priced fairly high, this might be a minor thing but lack of a footrail at the high tables was a bit distracting. Every dish seemed to contain an entire onion. I suppose if you're into that, go for your life.

Simply awesome!

Typical Korean fair; something you need to be in the mood for. Personally, I prefer other Asian, but for the price, this is acceptable. Need to sample more Korean in Melbourne.

One of my faves!. I'm obsessed with the meal buckets.... So good!

One of the best korean restaurants I've ever been to. I am now a regular there. Thoroughly recommend.

Like It. I like this place. The food is great. It is the second time I have been there. The food is reasonably priced. They gave us a free jug of Shagiria because one of the orders took to long.

Got Soul. Love this place, my favourites are the kim chi pancake, and the pork bi bim bap.<br/>Good Korean beers too!

Honest Korean Food on a budget. We live in Richmond, and Seoul Soul has never disappointed us. We stumbled this "hole in the wall" restaurant almost by accident. Very casual dining, but the food is amazing and very good value. My favourite is the spicy beef meal bucket that comes with some spicy Korean beef stir fry, rice, salad, a couple of sides and some fruit. I norally get a fried egg on the top for $1 to round the dish off. The also make an awesome dish of fried Korean dumplings and pork belly stir fry... yummo!. <br/><br/>Wait staff is extremely friendly and they are always have beaming smiles when we walk in there for lunch or dinner. The owner and chefs put their pride, heart and soul into their food; and it shows. <br/><br/>They get pretty full during peak times so make sure to book and be on time as there is huge demand for tables. They turn over tables really quickly so if you are a casual walk in, you normally wont have to wait too long.<br/><br/>Go there and enjoy some good honest Korean food made by people who love doing what they do.
Goldiefan
Portions were tiny and tastes not great. We had kimchi hotpot and chicken bimbimbap. <br/>imchi hotpot was way too spicy (i can take spice). not sure if its a one off thing..but i reckon they overdid the spice and tried to add sugar cos i taste some sweetness that is unusual in other kimchi stews i had before. chicken bimbimbap tastes average and not authentic. feel like you r paying for the modern deco and cutl<br/>ry. def. will not come back again. will return to other authentic korean restaurants.
Traceynn
Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and seated. I ordered the spicy beef Bulgogi and it was delicious for great value! It was hot and well seasoned. The kim chi and picked radish were served in cute little jars. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a small group of people as the table seatings are quite limited unless a booking is made. Definitely coming back!
Eve
I am dropping my thumb up to this small restaurant. I went with my friend and had lovely spicy chicken meal Basket, spicy pork and kimchi pancake. They were really nice taste and good for trying Korean food. Cheap and YUM. There are no more word needed. One more thing impressive is that big smile of tall chef in spite of very hot days keeping. All the staffs are friendly.<br/>Definitely will COME BACK.

Great find!. Was around Richmond area last night after going to ikea, and decided to whip out the Urbanspoon app on my iPhone. Did a quick nearby search, and this restaurant came up as one of the top restaurants in the area.<br/><br/>Ordered a bulgogi meal bucket and it was a pleasant meal. The bucket had meat, rice, salad, and a couple of extra side dishes together which made the meal quite satisfying.<br/><br/>Restaurant is quite small, however is decorated in a simple modern kbbq layout that works. Staff are quite friendly and the sweet treat at the end is quite nice!<br/><br/>Will definitely come back when I'm in the area again.

Smiles for seoul soul :). One of the best korean joints in Melbourne for its price. We always receive the best service with everyone we've met, and they are always so enthusiastic and helpful, despite there usually only being 2. <br/><br/>Butterfly beef ribs is definitely a must!

Best Korean restaurant ever!. My boyfriend and I just dined in here and it was the best dine out experience in last few months. I'm Korean and I tried lots of Korean restaurants but this restaurant is the only place I fully satisfied with authenticity, taste, interior, price and also service. The owner and a waiter was very nice and kind eventhough we went with big bags of IKEA. We had fried prawn, fried seaweed, bulgogi dosirak and spicy pork belly. Fried prawns were crispy enough to eat as whole, fired seaweed was in perfect temperature to eat (according to my bf) and mains were just YUMM. We had korean beers as well, everything was just so perfect and flawless. <br/><br/>Interior was very well decorated as well, not overdone with 'Korean' stuff but still very authentic. I personally liked their playlist as it wasn't a noisy K-pop but subtle indie korean songs...(love busker busker!)<br/><br/>We will difinitely go back!!
James Servinis
Great place. Awesome place...went with a group of friends & we all enjoyed it. Service & food was great...very helpful & smiling. I live close by, so will be a regular for sure!

One of my favorite restaurants. Consistently good food and service. It would be nice to have a special to have another new option once you've tried everything on the menu. Great though, please keep it up
Pandamonium
Good eats here. We ate a variety of barbecued meats and tofu, each with their own distinct marinade and all delicious, especially the pork belly and crispy fried prawns in shell. The sides that come in tiny jars are a cute idea, but impractical as we kept having to ask for more. Didn't seem to bother the staff though, they were always obliging and quick too. Lovely cosy place to treat your taste buds.

Disappointing RICE STORY IVANHOE MUCH BETTER. I was really looking forward to trying this place as the reviews were setting the bar high. Firstly the service and atmosphere were fantastic. Unfortunately I thought my meal was nothing to write home about. It was very basic...I had a "Meal bucket" - Spicy chicken. The chicken wasn't of high quality - there was lots of gristle. The flavour was spicy but lacking in depth. The salad was just lettuce and a slice of orange with garnish and the same with the rice. Not worth $14!!! <br/>Rice Story Ivanhoe would have to be the best Korean I have ever had and get it once - twice a week. It is a tiny shop but when you see groups of Korean girls there you know it is great. The Korean husband and wife than own it are lovely too!

Fantastic service, awesome cheap food and friendly waiters! Excellent, would dine again!

After just getting back from Korea, I had a craving for Bibimbap. This place had a very authentic Version topped but the beauiful Korean Gochujang (Hot red pepper sauce) yuuuum! Staff were also friendly, Id definately go back.
Tastytasty
Not bad. After the ratings we thought we must give this a go ! Some dishes were fabulous... Great Kimchee pancakes, and some not so.... Bimbimbap was really ordinary. Have had better elsewhere. Chargrilled pork belly in spicy sauce came out on a tepid sizzling platter and a bed of raw onions - needless to say, the pork was not very hot and the onions stayed raw ! Meal bucket was great with bulgogi beef.
Davide 'Woodie' Galteri
Nice. Been too dinner there a couple of times, fast, cheap and good food.. I'll go back again :)

Quick and cheap. Had lunch with work mates once and the place isn't a big place but it is good for a quick lunch session. Food is good for the price but the serving isn't a huge one. Would come back again.

Seoul Soul SO SO??. So sorry to say that Seoul soul really soso. Ordered spicy pork and beef bulgogi. Both really average. Further they serve indian slim samosa with it. The portion looked big in pic but small in real. The shallow wooden bucket explains. Oh yes, Seafood pancake as well. Wasn't worth to try. Limited seafood with lots of flour.<br/><br/>Was seated at the corner spot and the design and layout is fine. But sitting on a high stool require balancing skills during meal. Really cramp place with average food. Not recommend!!!
CU_Foodie
Our first visit tonight after being recommended by a friend, whilst on first arriving they were a bit rude (gave us 10 minutes for our party of 6 to arrive or they'd kick us out) however the food was just delicious. We ordered a ridiculous amount and it worked out to $20 which included a tip. They also accommodate with a high chair. Will definitely go back!

My favourite moderately priced korean restaurant.<br/><br/>ordered the bibimbap. was very tasty.

Only go there if u are not asian! No sauce, no services, food was too pricey and definitely not worth the rating now. <br/><br/>I would recommend mook ji bar if u want real Korean food in value.

Very very good food. This is the best Resturant eveeeeeeer recommend it to everyone

Thumbs up !. So a friend and i had a SET A for 2 people which was $24 for each person. This set consisted of their beef house salad, grilled pork belly, beef bibimbap and tofu soup. The whole course was an absolute delight to the taste receptors ! Pork belly well done and fragrant, a lean and mean house salad and simplistically tasty bibimbap ! the tofu soup contained elements of miso so it was quite appetising as well. The place is relatively small and slightly harder to find but it has a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Worth trying !

Always a brilliant lunch place. We come here often and the lunch buckets are value for money.

Teriyaki Tofu Bucket Rice - Yummy!. 2nd visit to this cafe and ordered Teriyaki Tofu bucket rice for lunch. Like the teriyaki flavor so much and the tofu texture was suberb. Well fried at the outer skin, remain smooth inside the tofu. Teriyaki sauce goes well with rice.

Beautiful Korean food at great prices in a cute, tiny restaurant. The seafood pancake entree ($6) was suprisingly soft and light on the inside with a nice crisp crust- quite oily but very tasty-highly reccommended. The beef bibimbap ($11) was uncomplicatedly lovely and the spicy prawn ($13) came with a generous amount of large prawns that were cooked beautifully but the sweetness of the dish can be quite overwhelming. I definately enjoyed my experience here! Try it out for yourself!

Yum. Taken here by a Korean friend. Excellently prepared and reasonably prepared food. Delcious....one very friendly staff member...one young woman who looked consistently miserable- all in all a great evening

Highly recommended. What a great, trendy little Korean restaurant! It's a small place so it's really only suitable for 4 people or less. <br/><br/>Their dumplings are the best and I love the bulgogis (meal buckets) that have a bit of everything - and they're cheap!

Went for lunch and loved it. took my husband and son and was disappointed. everything tasted the same and ended up being exp to share dishes (were also a small size). very over rated

If you breathe air you should eat at this restaurant. Only wish I had heard about it sooner!

It's come a long long way . Nothing to fault . I'm a Korean food aficionado and this place is above bar .<br/>It never used to be as good but now they've got it right . The salads were divine , meat tender and good selection of drinks .<br/>Ambiance and service ; both sound

Korean puns aside - this is a delectably affordable eat-in that will fill your belly with soul. I had the teriyaki mushroom and they were plump and juicy mushrooms! For about $10 a dish don't pass this place up!

Bulgogi heaven. The beef bolgogi bucket is the best thing ive ever eaten!! and only $12!! so so so tasty and affordable too! great place, love it!!

Trendy place with so much hype. Ordered the kimchi noodle soup, they came out with udon noodles and a soy based soup and no kimchi. The setting is 'cute' and clean with onra playing in the background, hit spot for da kool kidzzzzzz..

Fantastic inexpensive food, fab staff, and cool setting. Can't wait to go back!

The Soul of Victoria Street!. I live quite close and always find myself coming here when I want a fantastic meal, quick, funky, and quite cheap! The pork belly cooked on the BBQ is amazing and not that fatty, compared to pork belly you might get elsewhere. A must for Victoria Street! Funky and cool!

Great Korean food. We love Seoul Soul! We live near Victoria St and it's now my favourite restaurant on Victoria St. You can eat in or have takeaway.<br/>The ingredients are always fresh and the meat is always excellent quality and there is never any gristle in it, unlike at cheaper restaurants. Most of the meals are really healthy with lots of different vegies, meat and rice. <br/>My favourite dishes are the beef bulgoki, chicken, and the spicy tofu. <br/>Staff are lovely. Highly recommended if you like Korean food!

$10 for a lunch bucket and I'm chockers for the rest of the day!!!! Amazing food! And so so cheap! 9/10

I've always been a fan of Korean cuisine and to discover this hole-in-the-wall gem would've had to have been one of the best discoveries of the year. The staff were friendly, service was great and the food was delicious! I've been a few times since and I still love it every time.

Great value, will go back. Yes, they are licensed. From what I can remember Asahi beer / Plum wine and a Korean beer were available (there were more options I just can't remember them). Vegetarian dishes were marked with a 'V' (which I find pretty handy) the interior is more spacious than you would think when you walk in - you can miss the shop front if you're not looking for it (it's right next to the Quint café). You're also seated on bar stools - just a warning incase you're not into that kind of thing. Seoul Soul provided a cosier, hipper vibe compared to some of the other vietnamese spots in Victoria st. All in all a cheap and cosy little spot for an informal get together!

Great little lunch spot. Dropped in for the beef bibimbap today and the beautifully presented dish certainly hit the spot. Service was efficient and friendly. Will certainly be returning. This restaurant is a good addition to the Victoria St strip providing some welcome variety and at very reasonable prices.

My new favourite on Vic St!. I live right next to Victoria St and since going to Seoul Soul for the first time I've been back 1-2 times per week!<br/><br/>The food is not only fantastic and somewhat healthy, but also so cheap! My favorite thing on the menu, crunchy calamari (among the best I've ever tasted) served with a delicious salad complete with strawberries, is only $11!! I also can't go past the pork bibimbap and order it almost every time I go there, but the tapas is also delicious and makes for fun food to share.<br/><br/>The restaurant is a narrow little hole in the wall and the simple decor complete with shabby chic finishings is my favorite on Victoria St. It's a lovely little intimate place for a relaxed date or a fun meal with friends. <br/><br/>It's also great for takeaway, they steer away from the common takeaway containers and go for cute brown cardboard boxes in clear bags, and will often serve you a lovely cup of tea while you wait!<br/><br/>I *love* it!

Will be returning. Delicious food, generous portions, polite service, lovely decor, and all at a tremendously cheap price! absolutely worth it's spot on victoria street. i'll definitely be returning!

Soul. Sweet Korean food! makes Melbourne more awesome!

Good value. I am not sure if I like this place. I like that it is good value, the place is clean and service is polite. $15 gets you a filling lunch. I had an entree and a rice bucket which had fresh veggies, beef slices and rice. The only thing I didn't like was the beef because the sauce was on the sweet side. I may have to return to try the chicken to see if this place goes to my list of recommended restuarants.

Firstly I should say we did not actually eat here. My review is about the customer service we received. We made a reservation at Seoul Soul a few hours before we arrived. When we arrived the restaurant was packed. There was only one chair left, but potentially room for one more if they could find a chair. This available space was right at the entrance....clearly the absolute least appealing spot. So they clearly weren't reserving seats for us. This was enough to turn us off staying. In a street full of great restaurants they should really pick up their game. We left and found a great alternative within a block.
The Culinary Genius
Great Korean. Ever since finding this place late last year I've been going there once a week for their lunchtime special pork bulgogi. For only $10 it's without doubt one of Melbourne's best meals. Great flavours, fast & friendly service & a great price as well. This place is a great find

Wonderful Modern Korean. By far the finest Korean food I have had. Modern, light, great flavours. Loved it. The place is a little odd: clearly created to be a BBQ place but not doing BBQ, and it is very small (and a little bit cold the night we went) but we loved it.

Excellent. Once again I found this place by accident on the way somewhere else. Extremely happy with the service from the staff, the interior is a mix of brutalist and modern design - very interesting and minimalist at the same time. However you go for the food not the decor and won't be disappointed. It comes out fast and hot. And all the mains were under $20. Very impressed and look forward to my next visit.

Nice and cosy, quick and friendly. Food was good. Had the spicy tofu dosirak which was presented nicely in a shallow "bucket". A tad on the oily side for my liking, but that's just mainly due to the chilli oil. Just avoid the bottom, I suppose.

Very good service. Well presented food. A nice and cozy Sunday lunch for me and my partner.

Seoul Soul. The food was wonderful! I liked the pork belly the best. I give it a 9.5/10. :)
Hungry_Bear
Loved the look, feel and service at this place. Meal was extremely well presented... I don't want to give this place a bad wrap, but I found the spicy pork too sweet- perhaps it is suppose to be? But I couldn't get enough rice or salad to balance the sweetness
Cranky Possum
So so good! Totally delicious and great atmosphere! Will be back ASAP :-)

Was soooooo yummy the place is cosy had good service!! Already luv this place

Seoul soul is a fresh and fantastic addition to Victoria St dining. My partner, sister and I ate there last month and we were all really impressed. We shared the beef rib and pork bbq meat dishes, kimchi pancakes, fried pork dumplings and a crispy calamari salad. The calamari salad, pork bbq and the homemade chilli sauce and sesame oil sauce were particularly good. The decor is also great and was designed by the owner who is an architect by trade. We'll be going back there again.

Tasty Korean. Seoul Soul is quite a narrow and cosy restaurant serving your typical Korean eats and some not so common in a modern setting.<br/><br/>Mr P & I shared the beef bibimbap and mixed grill of meat. The bibimbap was a bit scarce on the beef but was fresh and tasty. The grilled meats dish was flavoursome but not value for money at $10+ for 4 small skewers. <br/><br/>I would go back to try other meals but only on a day I can afford to splurge a bit more than $15 for a meal - as you typically would on Victoria Street.

Just had a very quick and easy lunch at Seoul Soul. I loved it so much I had to review it straight away. I got the Teriyaki chicken and my partner ordered the spicy pork. Both came in a little bucket and were $10. We both loved it and will come back, often! It's a small place so good for a quick eat with few people. I loved the decor, very Korean.
Bigeater
Abit too expensive. Really nice kimchi!<br/>if it wasn't for the special opening price, I think this place would be quite expensive for the portion you can get.<br/><br/>Not a place I'll go back as I can find many other cheaper korean places with better/cheaper food

Great to see a fresh new place on Victoria street. Food is fantastic and good value too.

The staff were so friend and the food was yum. We each had a meal bucket n shared a tofu salad. The tofu was amazing!!! Super friendly. They r waiting on their liquor license n said that a lot of their food is stteet food n really suited to beers n shoju. Def going back!!!!!

Excellent and well priced. Ate lunch today at this super cool little Korean place, very cute little bento box/pot with plenty of spicy pork, fresh fluffy rice and beautifully fried potato cake. All this for just $10, great value for such a high quality meal.<br/>Get down to Richmond and try it out.

Todd. Good food, Not enough sesame oil

A Good Start. This was one of the places on the look out from our circle of friends, as we have a few favourites along Vic St / Vic Parade, and it had only recently opened.<br/><br/>First impression was on the interior.<br/>Simple and minimalistic.<br/>Like a hidden corner shop ( in saying that, the entrance is also quite narrow, so keep your eyes open ).<br/><br/>The staff were very friendly, especially the waitress. For some reason, my friends and I caught the impression that the waitress may actually be the manager or owner perhaps. (would someone be kind enough to please let us know if they find out???)<br/><br/>Went there around 9pm on a quiet night.<br/>Asked us kindly whether we had any last orders due to the kitchen closing.<br/><br/>The food was average, although the beef salad was well above average, and the portions aren't bad at all.<br/><br/>There was also what seemed to a BBQ section running along the centre of the table, so I have the impression that they do BBQ???<br/><br/>Overall, there is definitely room for improvement (like all restaurants) but they ARE on a good start.<br/>Let's see how they go :)

I’m sure we all know the health benefits of eating at home and it’s much cheaper…but I’m just hopeless at cooking and simply too lazy That’s how we ended up having dinner at Seoul Soul . We didn’t want to cook but and didn’t want to spend too much, so we went through the trusted “Good Food Under $30″ guide and found Seoul Soul in Richmond. As the name suggests it is a Korean restaurant Seoul Soul I called to make a booking and the lady with a Korean accent was very friendly and told us to take our time. It’s quite easy to miss Seoul Soul as it doesn’t have a very big sign outside, but on Victoria St in the same building where Woolworths and ALDI is ~ Seoul Soul is quite small with two large tables on the left and a couple of small tables on the right, I know some might find it to be a little cramped, the waitress was simply too friendly and nice that I thought it was just cosy She kept apologising that this was the only table left and she wanted to give it a bigger table. She really di

Seoul Soul serves quick meals that will fill you up on a budget, particularly with the lunch special prices. However, if you’re looking for something more authentic, I’d stick to Vietnamese on Victoria Street.

This place hit the right spot for me and I came in at a good time because within 20 minutes the place was jam packed full of people.

I’ve got a secret. Call it a confession, if you will. When I go to Victoria Street in Melbourne, I don’t eat phở. In fact, I don’t even eat Vietnamese. I skip rice paper rolls and go straight for Korean barbeque. If I’m ever in Victoria Street, you’ll find me at Seoul Soul.

Seoul Soul, can easily be missed by passers-by. It is this extremely tiny restaurant, almost hidden on the always populated Victoria Street, Richmond, near The Hive Shopping Centre. In between The Hive SC entrance and a corner cafe, you’ll find this little gem. Only housing less than 20 people, it is always popular inside and waiting around lunchtime is common. As you may have guessed from the name, Seoul Soul serve Korean cuisine from their most commonly known dishes such as Bulgogi, but also the more obscure and spicy dishes. Typically, they also do BBQ/grills so it really caters for most. I’ve previously had the Spicy Tofu bulgogi and that was a delight to eat. It comes with stir fried tofu with a spicy sauce, salad and oddly enough a slice of orange. You’ll find this is common for most of the bulgogi’s served. The spiciness of the sauce is fantastic but isn’t too spicy, just enough to give the always bland tofu some flavour and kick. The salad is very similar to the Japanese salad

Any tiny space in Melbourne can become a restaurant or a bar! Seoul Soul has grabbed a little nook at the Beehive Centre and transformed it into a little Korean haven!! The lunch menu looks fab and we take the waitress up on her recommendation of Sweetcorn Tea, it is fabulous – I love it! I am off to find me some for home!! The menu is a mix of dumplings, Dduk bok ki, Bulgogis and Bibimbaps! The Deep fried Prawn Dumplings and the pork are fabulous, not greasy at all and super tasty! There is a crunchy spicy salad underneath which has a serious kick and I seriously LOVE!!! Kimchi Pancake is a generous serve and not really spicy but very tasty and a great dish to share. The main dishes we share look incredible when they arrive, the Sticky Pork Bibimbap is a signature dish of Korea and with warmed rice and you mix everything together at the table. Just gorgeous and the Beef Bulgogi under the heading of ‘Desirak’ or Meal_Bucket is just as great! And it arrives in a cute little wooden bucke
Sweet And Sour Fork
The fingers of soft yet chewy rice cakes were cooked in a delicately sweet soy sauce, and were decidedly comforting in its stodginess. There was a good amount of beef and fish cakes without too much cabbage padding it out, and the pair of spring rolls and curry puffs was a welcome, though slightly unorthodox interlude.

Seoul Soul as its name suggests is a cute little Korean Restaurant that has marked itself as a great place to stop for a bite or grab a box of take-away.  We were perched on tall stools, which the kids enjoy, but slightly younger ones might find a bit challenging.   We started with their complimentary balchan (side dishes) which were pickled radish and kim chi served in cute little jars.  I really liked their kim chi and we had a second jar! Their seafood pancake ($8) is a good entree, crispy on the outside and delicious with the dipping sauce which absolutely makes this dish! The kids always like noodles so we ordered a Beef Bulgolgi Noodle Soup ($14).  A decent sized serving with a hearty soup. Seoul Soul is famous for their Dosirak, which are wooden meal buckets, like a Korean version of a Japanese Bento.  We tried the Beef Bulgolgi Dosirak ($14) which had a good amount of rice with a couple of samosas and potato hash and a fresh salad and pickles for a side.  The beef was nicely done, and this is my pick for an easy meal both for kids and adults alike. Hubby and I also had a Spicy Pork Bulgolgi Dosirak ($14).  I am addicted to the spicy marinated sauce and it goes so well with plain steamed rice! Their chargrilled and BBQ dishes come served on a sizzling (no cooking on the table) and we had a lovely serve of Chargrilled Pork Belly ($14).  The little morsels of pork belly were perfectly cooked and it's hard to stop eating! Little sugar rock candies ended the meal.   The service was efficient and friendly.  The gang was all full and happy and we're glad to find another nice place to eat with the kids.  Seoul Soul has opened a bigger soul sister (see what I did th

did Seoul Soul speak to our souls? We left not overly full in spite of getting a 4 person banquet when there were three of us. Some of it was tasty enough such as the teriyaki and the grilled dishes but others were a bit of miss.

Great space, lovely staff and simple Korean food that, I believe, has been tweaked to suit modern day tastebuds and sensibilities.

This tiny hole-in-the-wall Korean BBQ come street eats, is one of the “newer” additions to Victoria street... At a fairly bargain price, Seoul Soul offers toned-down Korean food with softer flavours and spice catering for the milder tastebuds of locals.
Gourmet Chick
I was pretty excited when Seoul Soul opened its doors on Victoria street. What could be better than a decent Korean barbecue restaurant in Melbourne? Bring on the kimchi and bibimbap. My first impressions were also good with the slick interior design immediately setting Seoul Soul apart from its neighbours. Architect turned owner Insu Kim has given the tiny restaurant an industrial feel, with white tiled walls, raw concrete floors, wire light fittings and table top grills dominating the restaurant. <br/>
