The interior is beautifully classy; the atmosphere brings sophisticated feeling while dining in, the staff are very great and warm. The food are amazing.
We had the Fritto Misto Di Mare and Carpaccio Swordfish for entreè, the Fritto Misto Di Mare was perfectly good lightly battered , perfectly seasoned well and it compliments very well with the squid ink aioli; Il Pesce for mains the multiway is baked and cooked perfectly melts in the mouth as well as the mussels seasoned very well however the squid is just a little bit over cooked; La Carne for mains as well the steak is cooked perfect medium rare seasoned well and compliments very well with the balsamic sauce. The cheesecake for dessert is a must try one of the best cheesecake I ever had. Overall dining experience at Andre's Cucina & Polenta bar is amazing and excellent. I highly recommend this to my friends and family; We will definitely go back again.
What a treasure of a find this resturant.
Celebrating my wife's 50th birthday, we had a table of 12 and were served the 5 course meal option. The service was fantastic as was the food, beers and wine.
Highly recommended for true authentic Italian food without a plate of pasta to be seen. We will return to enjoy again.
Excellent food and service! Our first visit was tonight and we will be back for sure. Our server was very knowledgable and having the menu explained with passion sold the dishes so much more than just reading from a menu.
The speed at which the food arrived at our table was amazing. Most other restaurants struggle with this and they still couldn't match the standard of food we experienced tonight at Andre's.
Only improvement I would suggest is to reduce the number of tables inside. It's very cluttered and therefore not as private or intimate when compared to other restaurants seating arrangements.
Thanks for a great dining experience tonight.
My husband and i were lost for words it was that amazing! Fantastic food and spot on with the service! We we will be back for sure. The staff were extremely friendly and our waiter really knew the menu well. The wine was devine to! The best restaurant we've ever been to.

This is the fourth time I’ve eaten at Andre’s Cucina and it has always been exceptional. Amazing food and wonderful service. Definitely go with the Fisso menu, that way you can try many dishes.
Absolutely delicious food and great service. The rotolo and la carne (steak) were the highlights. Highly recommend!!
Had the set menu and have to say, it was amazing. The only criticism we had was that the steak was a little winery, which is more a supply issue than anything else. As soon as we mentioned.it, it was whipped away and replaced with one of the nicest steaks I've ever had. All in all, a fantastic experience. The flavours, in every dish, were amazing.
Friendly staff with Matilda looking after us well with our dietary requirements, great service and delicious food.
Love this place! They are always willing to cater to your dietary needs and their staff are amazing. The food is unlike any other restaurant in Adelaide I've been to, will definitely be back!
Best food I have eaten in a long time. We chose to be served by the kitchen and were delighted by the flavour combinations and diversity in the range of tasty dishes. We will definitely be back!
Second time here 5 stars for sure. Well plated dishes and a fabulous variety.. Friendly staff and great service... Strongly recommend letting them feed you that way you get to try some incredible dishes... We will be back for sure ..
Obviously there's a reason that I keep coming back to this restaurant from time to time. The staffs are always really helpful, food is exceptional and changes seasonally. Quality is always consistent.
For our recent visit, we ordered the 5 course banquet which includes burrata, kingfish carpaccio, gnocchi, flat iron steak and OMG their polenta. Ended the night with earl grey panna cotta. Everything was perfect.
Very nice atmosphere. Loved the deep fried seafood entree. The squid ink pasta was bit too sour and salty. But will definitely go back again.
Our first visit, service was excellent (thank you Caleb & Kristie?) and helped us fully understand our options. We had the Fisso with plenty of variety in the dishes, all cooked superbly, seasoned properly and generous servings (I am a big eater). Very reasonably priced for the amazing experience. Well run professional establishment, from initial booking to paying the bill. Very impressed!
It’s what an Italian restaurant ought to be: warm, welcoming, loud and serving a generous amount of delicious food. The Kingfish Carpaccio was seasoned to perfection and I loved the addition of currants, pistachio and mint. The gnocchi with goat ragout was divine. #italianfood #adelaidefood
We had a dinner booking for 5 peps. The service was friendly and attentive, and they took time to explain the menu to us. We decided to share..and got 2 entrees and 3 mains. I thoroughly enjoyed the dishes especially the steak and the ricotta cavatelli. Would recommend!!
We wanted to try something different and decided to give this place a try. We decided to go withe the feed me option. It was a lovely evening and we had an outside table which was lovely to watch the world go by. The wine menu was good. Not sure extensive but good. The food menu provides lots of options and this is why we went with feed me. Presentation of the dishes was very good and servings were generous my favorite was the polenta with mushrooms it really was just amazing. Staff were lovely and were very attentive. A great meal and service will definitely be back.
Loved the polenta with mushrooms and pesto dish. So smooth and creamy. Pesto was excellent. The whipped cod was interesting. Not something I've had before. Enjoyed it but wouldn't say I'll crave it. The baked smoked cheese was a nice fun small entree dish. Ordered from specials blackboard a grain salad with pickled fennel, blood orange and goats curd. A really refreshing salad, especially after having so much cheese and creamy textured food. Really liked the fennel and orange.
OMG! What a great meal and evening at Andre’s. It took some planning but I finally managed to get a table. This place has been on my wish list for a couple of years. My kids and I are huge fans of Masterchef and our holidays are often centred on food. So when I started to plan our holiday to Adelaide, after booking the accomodation, I booked a table at Andre’s.
With young kids, I had to book an early sitting for dinner. When we arrived, we were seated quickly and Matilda (our waitress) kindly explained how it all works. Unfortunately, with our youngest being 5 years old, we were unable to try the “Menu Fisso” but Matilda accommodated our needs and helped make the whole evening memorable. A couple of adjustments were made to fit in with my kid’s requirements ie. no chilli and a Beef Ragu with gnocchi for one and pasta for my youngest and fussiest eater. Our son also tried a refreshing cherry gelato for dessert.
Hubby and I, with a little help from the 8yo😜, enjoyed the Salumi plate, mushroom polenta and beef main. The food was so gooood! I also managed to sample the kid’s meals and they were delicious. The gnocchi melted in the mouth! For our dessert, we shared the Semifreddo and it was light and refreshing with a lemon flavour.
It was a great evening of food and made even better with the thoughtful service we received from Matilda.
Booked Andres last minute for our anniversary dinner after I realised that I needed to book for Africola which I thought was a walk in only. However so glad this happened because I made a last minute booking at Andres.
As it was our anniversary we received a complimentary glass of bubbles which was super unexpected but a very nice gesture.
Unfortunately my partner had just sat through a 14 hour tattoo sesh and was a bit out of it and couldn’t drink too much but we both thought the food was amazing. It was simple cooked food but so well executed. Service was great and attentive. I would happily recommend this to anyone and will definitely be back! 2 glasses of wine, 2 mains and a starter for $120 and we were full. Hard to find this value for money and quality in Melbourne!
Thank you team❤️
Tucked away in Frome street - usually hard to er a table without booking. I went twice already and will be back for more.
Both times we went for the tasting menu and it did not disappoint.
Good wine selection as well.
Had a wonderful dinner date at Andre’s. Food was excellent and service was amazing. Instead of the current 4.9 rating, they should get 5 stars! Thoroughly enjoyed!
Though it’s not fresh pasta, but it was of good quality home meal. The ambience was good enough to have a peaceful meal and chilled a little.
Best polenta in SA and by far the best I’ve ever had! Go the feed me menu to get the best of everything but prepare to be full to the brim! If I’m not that hungry I’ll just grab a main and it’s plentiful. Love this place. It’s always busy every day of the week, so book!
Andre's is highly rated here in Zomato and with good reason. I had heard so much good things about it among our circle of friends who has been. I was fortunate enough to finally try it. The difficulty is when it is usually fully booked on the days I could actually go. But we have finally managed to book a date. Considering that this place gets busy, I strongly suggest that you make a booking to prevent disappointments. They have sitting time and we went for the 6.30pm and you are expected to be done by 8.30pm so they can get ready for the second one. I was looking forward for this experience and we were greeted at the door with a warm smile and a friendly attitude by this wait staff. I wished I asked for her name because she was that good throughtout the night. We were seated and given the menu. You have the option to have an a la carte or the menu fisso. We have decided for the menu fisso and it is $70pp. Due to a friend falling in love with their gnocchi, we asked if they could have the gnocchi in their feed me option and they were accommodating with that. The experience was near to perfection. All the dishes are delicious and I just wish that they were just a tad light on the salt. Carpaccio, gnocchi, and pretty much everything was a delight. My husband and just found the seafood a tad too salty for his liking but the snapper and the mussles were very fresh. Ending the night with the white chocolate mousse was just perfection. It was not very sweet and the combination of all the textures in your mouth was just heaven. I would have rated Andre's a good solid 4.5 but Zomato doesn't do that anymore. I am looking forward to coming back here and sampling more from their menu.
This place us one of our regular 'go to' places for a nice evening out. The menu fisso (about 5 courses) is delicious and the servings are generous. My husband is a vegan and they always prepare a tasty and well thought out, vegan menu fisso for him even though it is not apparent from the menu that this is offered. On the last occasion they served him a beetroot carpaccio, vegeteriani platter, braised farro, polenta & mushrooms and house made berry sorbets. The quality of the food is very consistent between visits. The staff are professional and effective. One of the places we would highly recommend. Great for vegetarians, vegans and carnivores!
had dinner tonight, everything was great, we had the polenta with mushrooms and it was delicious, the staff were really hospitable. thanks for the good experience :)
Any special occasion or you need a nice place to take people out without spending a fortune, you can’t go wrong with Andres. Service is always excellent. Restaurant is always packed, good vibes. Food is bang on. Entrees in particular. If I could fault anything, it would be to have more seasonal variety to the menu. But for the occasional treat always hits the spot
Went with a group and had the 'feed me' dinner. Overall there was so much food, and enough of each individual serving to feel that you had a decent portion of everything. My favourites were the carpaccio, gnocchi and the beef fillet. The zeppole for dessert was delicious.
Service was friendly, welcoming and comfortable! Food was unreal, we got a few different plates and shared! Don’t think you can go wrong with any decision they are all unique and delicious! Will be going back as soon as possible 😊
Menu Fisso was amazing until dessert. I'd still totally recommend but hopefully you don't get the donuts. They were overcooked, dry and really sub par.
I have no idea how to rate this. The food was just delicious. I mean it, absolutely scrumptious, but to find a pebble in my food? Then one of the dishes was cancelled by my husband, which he said he never actually cancelled. With all the confusion we ended up also having to cancel a movie we were going to see with the kids and we missed it in trying to sort out all of the above.
It was so frustrating because the food was just incredible. The pebble not so much, but the ordering confusion and fluffing around really changed my rating. Such a damn shame.
Environment and staff are all good, food are also good. Nothing to complain. I love the squid ink thingy with calamari personally, it’s crispy, soft inside, rich sauce, fresh. The other dish was okay, beef cooked in Japanese style, very thin but a little bit dry while the cheese and dough was delicious.
Unfortunately a bit hard to find at the moment due to all the roadworks. Perfect spot for a business lunch; classy decor with a good selection of vino, simple Italian dishes, done well and taste good.
This place delivers the goods....errytime. A cosy and dimly lit atmosphere. A Good selection of local and international wines. And menu fisso..... What a delicious and diverse line up of dishes that let you sample the kitchen produce.I am a big eater and struggle to finish what's served up. Once it's over, you could roll out the door and back to your car. Or uber depending on how much red you've put away. I've been here many times and will return for many more. It's the old faithful.
Great experience from arrival to departure. Lovely wait staff with an exceptional knowledge of the food choices offered, and took the time to explain all options available, esp as we were far from the chalkboards. The food: Beef carpaccio to die for. Gnocchi with Lamb Ragout. Oh yum. Made room for Dessert (just). Cheesecake with Blueberry sorbet and cornflake crumbs. MmmmmMmmmm. Well Done Andre's!
I was here for dinner with my work colleagues and the food and restaurant were 5/5 however what really stood out for me was the service. Because we had a large table we had the set menu and being pregnant I was expecting some courses where I'd have to pass due to raw food or soft cheese. After we arrived I was discreetly approached by the waitress and asked what I was comfortable with eating and what I was avoiding. After that discussion I was so well taken care of! When raw foods were served I was given an alternative dish, a portion of the steak was cooked well and I was considered for every course! This was such an unexpected and lovely experience for me. Thank you!
Wow !!! And i mean wow!! I've tried their menu fisso a number of times and it never fails to amaze me. One of the best places for polenta ... Their pastas are equally amazing ... I just have no words to describe how fantastic the dining experience is ... Definitely my favourite Italian restaurant in Adelaide !
Huge servings - two of us struggled to finish all the food. Yummy polenta. Would definitely return if I visit Adelaide again. Pre book a table and they will advice what time to rock up
Great atmosphere, amazing food and wine and 5star service every time. This is our favourite place for dinner in Adelaide. You just can't go past the menu fisso, fantastic value for a huge amount of food a great way to sample the menu. Andre's is always consistent and we always leave fat and happy.
Seriously good! Everything I've tasted here is amazing - the food is super rich and full of flavour. Dishes are made to share and there's a great variety to choose from. The place has a warm and rustic vibe and is always packed - so book ahead. Highly recommend the tasting menu.
The service was amazing. The waitress rattled off the mains (with all their accompaniments) without a mistake or any hesitation. I ordered the homemade gnocchi with beef ragu and mushroom polenta (1/2 serves to cater for dining alone). The gnocchi was delicious. Never tasted better. The polenta was lovely too!!! So so glad I came here on a visit to Adelaide for work. I would encourage everyone to come here. Cannot fault it. Well deserving of the high rating.
When was the last time I rated a restaurant more than 4.0? Andre's Cucina is an awesome restaurant along Frome Street which specialises in Northern Italian cuisine. The popular restaurant features a dimly-lit and intimate interior decorated with pasta and vinegar bottles, and unclad wooden tables and chairs.
I tasted three dishes on one lovely summer night one month ago and all three dishes were phenomenal. The entree, an ordinary plate of arancini, was the first to strike my palate. Stuffed with funghi, mozzarella and smoked potato, the arancini was a combination of spice, savoury and surprise at the highest level. How I wish I could order truckloads of their arancini and deliver them to Sydney!!
Next was the even more ordinary looking polenta. The sight of polenta can easily drive anybody nuts. Not the one at Andre's. The delicious (small enough) plate of polenta was punctuated with delightful bits of sausage ragu and parmigiano. Flavourful, palatable but not heavy on the tummy, there is no words that could do justice to the polenta.
Last but not least, the pan-seared butterfried quail, accompanied by watercress, pickled carrots and lentils, was prepared very similar to those in Cantonese restaurants (in Hong Kong). Crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside, the quails could rival the best in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
P.S.: The restaurant is extremely noisy. Wear some ear plugs while you are there.
Have had the feed me menu there a few times.
Have only been disappointed once, only because the menu was exactly the same as last time, except smaller serves and some of the food was cold.
Would recommend, but perhaps not the feed me menu again.
I walked into this restaurant by myself originally wanting to get take away. The moment I stepped into the restaurant I felt relaxed and decided to dine in. I got a special seat next to the bookshelf filled with Italian produce and ingredients and asked for the Pinot rose. Delicious !! Followed by the Polenta with ragu bolagnaise, parmigiana, crispy topped pancetta = amazing!!! Please note if dining in with a partner you could easily both eat this dish together and order a side and an entre and be very happy with the servings. For $29 for the main it's pretty good value!! Will be back again and not only for a table for one :)
I have dined here many times and it is always a nice experience. Good food, lovely service, and just a generally nice atmosphere. It is a little pricey for the style of food but so delicious I am happy to pay.
Such a beautiful meal with these three lovely courses! The angus need was finely sliced and the olive oil bring it back to life! The vegetarian polenta was amazing, the taste of mushroom and pine nut brought beautiful taste with the polenta. The lamb was slow cooked and melting in my mouth.
Everything was perfect! The food, the service, the wine and the atmosphere. Would highly suggest the 'let us feed you' option. It will leave you completely sated. The beef carpaccio is one of the best dishes I've ever tasted in my life.
Great Italian food - my highlights were the mushroom polenta (best polenta I have tried) and the delicious desserts (I shared the zeppole and the Italian pastries selection- yum!)
The decor and service are great except there are no soft furnishings, making it incredibly noisy. I found it hard hearing the people sat next to me and my poor baby was very distressed by it all. That aside it was a great evening and wouldn't hesitate to come back.
We booked a table for a birthday celebration on a Saturday night. Unfortunately due to other events being on in Adelaide, Andres had overbooked their 6pm sitting and we were seated at an outside table. Before we even had a chance to admit our disappointment at this, we were offered complimentary entree and dessert as a gesture of goodwill and apology. This was an amazing offer an was much appreciated. Not only that, our waiter was so helpful, attentive and friendly and service efficient but not rushed... our celebration was, in fact, perfect! AND where do I start about the food....amazing, amazing, amazing, All dishes had beautiful blends of flavours, all full and robust, especially the carpaccio. My steak was cooked to perfection and the dessert tasting platter that was put together for us was delicious. We will be back...
Absolutely divine! Great service and delicious food. The gnocchi with goat ragu and the swordfish carpaccio are particular favourites. Go for the menu fisso and enjoy!
Great atmosphere and service. Pasta was cook to perfection. Squid ink pasta was star of the night. Sword fish capaciiucio sprinkled with raisen were just magical. Certainly Italian food taken to another level.
We started with a delicious romaine salad in Caesar dressing, which featured breaded and fried anchovies, which was a great touch. The duck wings were also very tasty and something unique.
My pork belly entrée was extremely tender and flavorful and came in some sort of sweet potato puree. My companions had the pepperonis and the scallops, both of which were delicious. The highlight of the meal was a 24oz tomahawk shop cooked perfectly that was an extraordinarily high quality cut of beef.
The mashed potatoes, haricot vert, and corn off the cob were all fantastic sides as well.
This will not be my last time eating here, as the decor, the food, and the exceptionally friendly and attentive staff all impressed me.
The restaurant was very busy, but the service was great. I loved the steak tartare, had never had gnocchi before and it was so yummy. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Dined here with 3 friends.
Its a nice place but not worth the price. The cost of a polenta dish is crazy considering its just poltenta. The food tasted good but it was super rich.
The value for food wasnt what i thought it should be but still happy with the food taste. I would suggest going for the steaks here.
We ordered the menu fisso and had a blast. Andre's has great service and always maintains an exceptional standard of every dish. Cucina and Polentas are must-try.
“Just a-like a mamma used to make.”
No seriously everything about the culinary experience at Andre's Cucina and Polenta Bar felt like being warped back in time. Authentic ingredients, genuine. A really warm vibe in the restaurant as well. Cosy, but not too cramped. Service was prompt and attentive. The high-rating is certainly well deserved, this is yet another Adelaide gem. Your Dear Luncher consumed the beef ragu ricotta gnocchi which was faultless. The picture really does it justice, take a squiz. The parsley aroma sent The Dear Luncher back in time. The insalata mista on the side accompanied the gnocchi very nicely, F.R.E.S.H. The white balsamic dressing reminded me of the home made vinegars the old folks in my family used to douse their salads in.
Outstanding dining experience. The Dear Luncher will return if he's ever in Adelaide again. If you are a local and have not yet ventured here, you should.
First time came to this place. We'd been greeted by the waiter who escorted us to one table. We picked Arancini, Fritelle di Polenta and Creamy Polenta with slow braised goat. All of them were fantastic. But creamy polenta slow braised goat is the best, the meat so tender and polenta so soft. For main course we had La Carne, which is steak 400gr with chips. It's tender and delicious. Gnocchi with mushroom ( i forget the rest) and Pork slow braised with chickpeas. I like the pork dish, the sauce was so perfect, and its a death combination of pork and chickpeas..awesome. We were so full and couldn't had more desert as a closure. When we went to the cashier, the guy who standing there suggested us that we wanted to put some tips just input the amount on edc machine seperately. Really?? Did the owner know about this 😑😑😒
Andre's Cucina and Polenta Bar has been on my list for quite a while, and I finally got the chance to dine here last Saturday. From the entrance to the finish, I was mesmerised. Having seen a lot of photos and reviews on the Menu Fisso ($65 pp), I knew exactly what I wanted on the day and got exactly what I wanted. It's not particularly and extremely fine dining here so your meals aren't miniscule, instead, the Menu Fisso offers an extensive range of dishes which you can choose from (5-6 from memory).
We were first served the Black Angus Carpaccio which was just amazing in every aspect! I've never tasted raw meat but this wasn't just any raw beef - it was carpaccio paired with the most delicious ingredients. Secondly, we had a cheesy capsicum appetiser which was also really tasty, and then the mains after that. Thirdly, we had the cavatelli which was by far my favourite dish of the night. For our mains, we chose pork fillet with braised chickpeas and polenta served with salad on the side. And what can I say? The chefs did it again; they nailed the mains. The night was finished off with a chocolate semifreddo which was also sweet and delicious. If you're in for a sweet treat, then I suggest you get the semifreddo. Initially, we did opt for the lemon zeppole because that was what was on the main menu but I'll have to try it out next time!
Service and food was just awesome!
Great food and service! Loved the steak and ragu polenta. Also the antipasto and cold meats dish was delish. The best was the Carpaccio - so delicous!
Refined Italian dishes, packed with flavour..Oh so fabulous! The Menu Fisso is a perfect way to taste a variety of dishes...you will definitely leave satisfied. Staff were extremely helpful and you could tell that they were passionate about their amazing restaurant and the beautiful dishes they present.
We had a date night here. Chose the Fisso "Let the kitchen feed you option". The food and wine were fantastic, totally changed my partners pallete. All for a great price.
Food was delicious. Ambiance was great. We had the first sitting on a Friday night. The wait staff were attentive and helpful. We had the 'feed me' banquet style menu. Food was prompt, however meant we ate quickly so a small break between courses would have been ideal. We are big eaters and couldn't finish. I didn't like the swordfish as entree due to being quick strong flavoured (and I usually eat fish). Dessert needed something a little more but overall the menu was great. Will be going back but at the 8pm time slot on a Friday as the lights were dimmed and very intimate!
Amazing. I've been here twice now and on each occasion I had the menu fisso option. I would highly recommend it if you want to try a bit of everything and have the stomach for a full heavy meal.
The menu fisso is usually a carpaccio, cheese dish, pasta dish, polenta, steak and potatoes and salad, and then a doughnut like dessert. It looks and tastes better than it sounds. I also got arancini balls when I was with a large group. Either way you will be very full at the end of the meal.
It is truly traditional Italian cuisine: hearty, fresh and flavoursome. Their carpaccio is to die for. I've had both the beef and swordfish versions. I went on a Wednesday so was served with fresh gnocchi. If you love gnocchi you will love this place. My favourite dishes are their carpaccio, polenta, and steak.
The only fault with this place is that it is squishy seating. I cannot fault the food and service. They were Perfect.
Don't mind the photos were I have picked at the food before taking photos- the food was that good and I couldn't wait. It is that good.
Nice food, but unfortunately the experience was soured by poor service. Not sure if I would return, as service makes a massive difference to me.
The menu fisso was excellent. Delicious food and lovely staff. It's great to be able to take time and eat slowly as so many places seem to rush service now. I would have liked there to be polenta on the menu but what we did have was great so I hardly noticed!
Outstanding. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Food was stunning with well balanced flavours. Only downfall was we didn't get to try any polenta- but that's reason to go back! Highly recommend.
Warm, homely and not easy to find. Dishes are made for sharing and remind me very much of comfort food. Had the tasting menu for $65 per pax. Excellent carpaccio, very smooth and creamy polenta and good, chewy al dente cavatelli. Steak was a bit of a let down. Could be more chewy and juicy. Have always enjoyed seared steaks with the juices sealed in but it was decent. Finished the meal with decadent fried Italian donuts
Ordered the $65 'Let the chef decide option'. This was such a great place, excellent food. Good service, good drinks. Was worried that the chef option would mean we might go hungry at the end, however this was not the case. The seafood options were brilliant. Would recommend.
Menu Fisso, let them bloody feed you!! Always in a food coma afterwards so make sure you get a park nearby. If you're part of the earlier seating be prepared to be hustled out for the next group
We had the duck and steak. Duck comes with small portion and steak comes with decent portion. Overall they are very yummy. The desserts are just average.
So very glad to have had the opportunity to come back to Andre's. It's been too long. However, it's fantastic to see that it's as great as I remember it. Fabulous, busy ambience. Attentive and pleasant service. Delicious, fresh and exciting dishes! The whole package.
Cannot recommend it enough.
Ive been here several times and I am never disappointed. It's so damn tasty! I usually get the tasting menu for $65-the carpaccio is always spot on. The entrees usually have cheese and meats so they go down well. Goat gnocchi was just perfect. The polenta is well seasoned. The steak was tasty but a little tough. Dessert was great.
The only down sides are that there are 2 sittings. 6 or 8.30 which is really early or really late. But only a small negative really since you get delicious food each time.
Just great in every way.
Knowledgable staff.
Menu fiso is so much value.
Cosy atmosphere
Confident & well paced delivery of degustation type dishes
Very accommodating dietary
And the food.... Just delicious.
You will want to consume every last crumb, drizzle , splash & piece
Well done. Great to see a professional restaurant go about the machinations with such ease, warmth & quality
As delicious as I remember from my first visit a few years ago.
Polenta is the star here, and they serve a mighty fine one indeed. My friend and I also got our truffle fix from the rotolo, which was terrific. For those after variety, I recommend the 'Menu Fisso' option. It's a great range of dishes selected by the kitchen, and what I opted for last time I came here.
The restaurant gets cramped, so best arrive early in the evening to avoid crowds and slow service.
Wow. I had an outstanding dinner here. I all had different things, and each dish was fantastic. I had a dessert, a selection plate of mini Italian pastries, and each one was absolutely delicious. I ordered vegetarian dishes, and even the vegetarian dishes were mouth-watering (I eat my vegetables, but it's hard to make them interesting, so good job there).
There's a pretty extensive menu and the specials seem to change all the time. This is a place I would bring people from out of town if I wanted to show them what Adelaide has to offer, fantastic real homely true italian comfort food and Minm blowning by the exceptional service at Andre's!
This has been on my to do list for a few years now and am proud to say I have finally had the pleasure of dining here with family. Amazing food. Recommend the beef carpaccio and iron steak- simply divine! Polenta with lamb ragu is luscious too. Loved the dimmed cosy atmosphere. Will be back !
We decided to go with the ‘Menu Fisso’ option this time around, which is great value, for $65 per person you are served 5 dishes consisting of 2 starters, 1 pasta dish, 1 main (which actually consists of 3 plates) and a dessert. We had a lovely lady serving us, I’m terrible with names so I don’t recall hers but every time I have eaten here everyone is always so friendly and professional. They all do an amazing job of knowing everything about every item on the menu and are happy to accommodate any dietary requirements or in our case incorporating our love of arancini balls onto our Menu Fisso.
The word limit is not big enough to describe how fantastic my experience was, read the full review on my blog.
Andre’s Cucina And Polenta Bar is another favourite restaurant of mine serving up hearty Italian food and specialising in polenta. Owner Andre Ursini is best known for his appearance as one of the contestants on the first series of Master Chef Australia. They have a small menu consisting of entrees, antipasto boards and polenta and a large recommendations blackboard menu with new dishes. The recommendations board is seasonal and can change weekly or daily depending on what produce is available.
Beef carpaccio was really good!! and I think everyone agrees with that too. Also had the mushroom polenta, lamb gnocchi and the steak. Great mains! Arancini was average. Staff and manager were excellent!! Good experience. Would go back.
Now this is great. I believe, in a restaurant the personality and genuine-ess of the owners/head chef shows through the generosity of flavor, service and portion sizes! I don't know Andre, but I bet he is a top bloke. Great stuff here.
I can't even tell you how amazing everything was. Let the chef feed you and you'll roll out the door full as anything and completely, well and truly satisfied. You'll never want to eat again lest you ruin your amazing experience. So good. Go.
What a great find! After watching Poh & Co and seeing Andre on the show with her cooking in his restaurant, I instantly wanted to visit this restaurant. It was totally worth it! The service is professional and not intrusive at all. Always available when you need them and explaining each dish served. I had the Menu Fisso (a shared menu between the whole table). This gives you an opportunity to try a bit of everything which is a great idea. I mentioned I wanted to have the Gnocchi as this is not on the menu as stated on their website. There was Bread Baskets, Carpaccio - (Salmon, Peperoni Colorati), Burrata - (Pickled Pumpkin, Prosciutto Di Parma, Romesco), Gnocchi With Braised Beef, Polenta Con Taleggio - (Creamy Polenta, Mushrooms, Taleggio Cheese, Basil Pesto, Pine Nuts), Zampina - (Pork, Fennel + Cacciocavallo, Sausage, Celeriac, Farro, Salmoriglio), Insalata Mista, Torta - (Apple, Fennel, Rosemary, Rhubarb, Lemon Curd), Zeppole - (Vanilla Custard, Caramello, Almonds). I had an Aranciata Rossa - San Pellegrino and Latte to drink. The food was so delicious and flavours were amazing. I especially enjoyed the Gnocchi and Polenta. Definite must go!
Shared the cavatelli and polenta chips with a friend. Although expensive, food was really delicious, and staff were friendly. Went slightly after lunch time on a weekday afternoon thus wasn't that packed. But usually seems full house when I walk past the restaurant at night.
I have been to Andrès multiple times now and still can't get enough! The five course "let the kitchen feed" you option is definitely the way to go, so delicious, exciting and great value for money. Their wine list is also great and the service is always friendly, informative and willing to make suggestions. The salmon carpaccio in particular is to die for FYI :)
We went for the 5 course option which was very filling.
The polenta with mushrooms is really good, that was probably my favourite dish followed closely by the salmon carpaccio entrée.
We have returned time and time again to Andre's and every time we leave happy. The food changes seasonally and is always fresh and interesting. We love the packed atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. We often recommend Andre's to other people in our friendship circle as the best Italian food in the city.
The new Andre's cucina is way way better compare to the old Andre's. Sometime last year I was here and they mainly only focus on polenta. Order different kinds of polenta but we get a bit sick of polenta half way through the meal. BUT now it is a whole different story. They have improve a lot now focusing on the rest of the main dishes like pasta, steak and etc.
The booking time is a bit weird - only two sessions for dinner either 6pm or 8.30pm. Seems to be a bit too early for a Friday or Saturday night. And the 8.30pm sessions can be so crowded and ended up waiting for long service. Anyway, we decided to go for the 6pm booking. The place can be so so crowded at times - staffs can look very stressful but overall they are still very friendly. Service - good pace, fast and smooth.
Food wise - cured King fish for entree is delicious. Very refreshing. Making you ready for the next dish. Another recommended entree - arancini. Nice and cheesy in the middle, perfectly matched with a hint of chilli in the sauce.
Main - must try the huge pasta shell. It is stuffed and baked top with cherry tomatoes. Obviously, you can't leave without trying their polenta. Both polenta we order are gorgeous - spicy chorizo and truffle mushroom. Texture of polenta is spot on with the chef's topping, it's just beautiful. Way much better than last time. We actually don't get sick of the polenta, clean plate is the answer. The rest of the dishes are average to good. Quail and steak cook perfectly. If I really have to pinpoint on something, the sauce for quail was slightly salty but nonetheless for me still really good.
Dessert - menu for sweet is not really inviting. Nothing too interesting that caught our eyes. We ended up not ordering any.
Drinks - wide list. They have some good wine on the list. The whole night experience has been enjoyable. Definitely going to be back again.
This place was recommended as THE place to be. So we managed to get a spot on a Tuesday night. And it was jammed packed with people.
The interior was very rustic, homey feeling to it. We were welcomed warmly by the waitress who patiently explained the menu. We had the tasting menu.
THE place to be isn't an understatement.
First. The carpaccio. It is to DIE for. Tender thinly sliced beef, aged balsamic and bits and crumbs. All married well in the palate. It was the top dish for the night for me. The tomato salad - sweet cherry tomatoes with subtle cheese. Very refreshing. The gnocchi- pillow soft with slow cooked ragu.
Main - seafood was fresh and well cooked. I personally am not a polenta person but that's just me. To end the day, awesome zepole with cream.
I will be back. It was the best meal for me so far in Adelaide. Faultless meal, service and ambiance. Deserved all 5*
Busy and vibrant atmosphere, helpful staff-4 in total looking after us. Wide food choices and generous serves even the small sharing choices. Beautiful flat iron steak! $144 including 2 alcoholic beverages.
I'm from Melbourne and was recommended this restaurant by my Airbnb host. My partner and I had the $62 5 course Menu Fisso. We had the salmon carpaccio, olive buffalo mozzarella, lamb ragu gnocchi, flat iron steak served with duck ragu polenta and salad, and vanilla custard and caramel zeppole for dessert. Everything was amazing! Fresh, full of flavour, great textures and perfectly cooked. The service was also excellent. I will definitely come back on my next visit to Adelaide!
I highly recommend the Menu Fisso, as many other reviews have already said, as every dish served was delicious and made with quality ingredients. The beef carpaccio is a must, whether you go for the fisso or à la carte. We left full and unable to clean all of the plates (despite how much our tastebuds screamed otherwise), so I found the portions substantial. To top it all off the staff are very helpful and deliver charming service.
Excellent food and service, don't forget to make a booking!
Had the menu fisco for 62 pp. It was good. The black angus beef carpacio with truffle oil and balsamic vinegar was the winner of the night. Their gnocchi with lamb ragu is great as well. Soft pillowy texture and lamb ragu was delicious.
Went to Andre's cucina and polenta bar for the first time and loved every moment of it! We ordered $62 per person menu and the serving sizes were huge we struggled to finish the 2nd main! We didnt have any room for dessert but the waitress offerred to put them in a takeaway container which was really nice! Definitely will be back for sure!
Mind blown by the exceptional service at Andre's! (Special mention to the lady with the nose ring; apologies I didn't get your name) Despite the episodes of food coma over the Christmas holidays, our greed trumped our rationality and we decided to go with the menu fisso. Loved that they were very accommodating and happily agreed to swap items on the set menu just to satisfy our cravings. The servings are generous and they have definitely fed us (too) well! There was nothing to fault about the food, honest cooking that truly honors the Italian tradition and fresh ingredients. Food is really tasty, but slightly salty if you are low-salt tolerant like me. The restaurant is quite small and buzzing, so make sure you don't turn up without a reservation!
I really enjoyed dining at Andre, I'am not a big fan of polenta but I found plenty of alternatives in their menu.
Lovely pasta and main courses, well presented and tasty dessert.
I'll definitely go back
Simply amazing. Love this place. The food and the service staff. Amazing. Went there for a work lunch. Ordered the banquet for $62 per head. Wines were just amazing. The food was great. There was one service staff looking after us that night (the one with the pretty nose ring) she was outstanding. All around and Amazing experience. Good job great work.
Yummy! Absolutely recommended. Higher priced but worth it for a special occasion. Food is amazing here!
Great service. Could BYO which i thought was good. Creamy mushroom Polenta and tiramisu went down a treat. Mmmm so good! 😍

Great place for some authentic Italian food! I've had the banquet and it's great value for money and they really showcase the restaurants best of what they offer. Recommended for people who love Italian food!
