We had dinner at Little Hunter last night which was a pretty cool steakhouse in terms of atmosphere and a very extensive venue space wise. I ordered the scotch fillet as per everyone else on our table and appreciated the variety of sauces on offer but defaulted to my forever favourite bernaise.
The sauce isn’t included but a side of chips, truffle mash or a baked potato is. I didn’t find the mash remotely truffle like and it wasn’t as silky smooth as I would have liked but it was an enjoyable meal nonetheless and I would definitely consider a return visit.
Unfortunately we came at the end of a busy week and a few popular menu items were unavailable however, the steak that I ordered was cooked a requested, was tender and was clearly a quality piece of meat. The sauce came on the side without being asked and the mushroom sauce was really good. Good winelist and friendly service.
Massive industrial meets cowshack environment inside. We got a small table for two tucked away behind a beam, in saying that we were lucky as walk ups. Seems there were quite a few parties going on.
Menu is great, lots to choose from including the grill or mains. I opted for the eye filler, wrapped in bacon and served on a potato truffle mash. Only negative I have, could not taste the truffle. The steak was cooked to perfection and the mushroom sauce was heavenly.
Partner had wagyu steak with the jacket potatoes.
Wait time wasn't too bad considering how many people were there.
Service was friendly considering how busy it was. Would definitely recommend Little Hunter if you want a good steak.
Instantly greeted when arriving by staff, seated instantly and offered menus swiftly. Ordered a steak and was extremely happy with my meal. Definitely a great priced place for steak. Only down side is the seating is uncomfortable outside. But other than that not a single fault
We went early before the dinner rush, food was greatly, best steak I've eaten in Australia, sides were great, great beer selection and happy hour!
This little hidden gem was an absolute surprise! We came for a birthday dinner, and were seated at the long tables in the semi-outdoor area. From service to the food, these guys did a great job!
We had a huge food order and pretty much everyone opted for a steak dish - all plates were cleared and I did not hear a single complaint! They also have some dessert options. I was too full to have any but creme brulee looked delicious! Highly recommended!
Is this the best spread you've seen!! On my visit to the v8 Supercar race in March we visited this place and all I can say is the steaks were amazing particularly my 750g rib eye but the Slow roasted Angus Ribs was off the charts. A very Satisfying dinner together with some full bodied wine was great. This place has a good set up, friendly staff which always makes the experience better, you gotta check it out.
I went here for a friend's 30th dinner. I was very impressed with the interior of the place, has some very cool decor and the large chairs were great! The staff were very frendly and polite, the meals came out quite quickly even though it was a Saturday night. The steaks were very yummy and perfectly cooked and exactly the way I ordered! I definitely recommend going if your in the mood for steak!
Really enjoyed dining at The Little Hunter, great atmosphere & great food, steaks were amazing!! My only complaint was the garlic sauce was so runny, thicker sauce & it would be full marks from me!!! Would be nice also if there was a bit more lighting out the front of the restaurant to draw people in & create a welcoming feel !! But inside is so beautifully decorated with a real industrial feel, loved it - will definitely be recommending to all my friends!!
For some reason they gave me a steak knife. Totally unnecessary, the steak was cooked perfectly and could have eaten it with a spoon. Excellent ambience and prompt and friendly service. Highly recommend
The food was above average . We had the lamb chops and eye fillet as well as the sherwagyu rump steak. The fries were crispy and the sides especially the rocket pear and parmesan salad was a great side dish to have . They have a good selection of wines. Only issue is they were quite understaffed and we had to wait to get our orders taken and our drinks to be served.
Ok, I'm from Perth so this place is cheap. $46 for a 750g steak - wow. Food is bland but the quality is there and the service and drop his menu is Cracker Jack. I like this place - big and air-y.
We came here yesterday for dinner. First stunned out was the interior design, it's like a west barn with a georgian furniture, chandelier in cage, burnt door and hanging lamp. It's quite cozy. Need a prompt service from the floor team, initiative and organize..was okay but need a bit improvement. We had 350gr scotch fillet and 700gr rib eye. The steak cooked perfect just like we wanted, the mear tender and juicy. Green pepercorn sauce with brandy was a good pairing. We had grilled vegies (zuccini, carrot, eggplant and pumpkin). I think the vegies was over the top, best..unfortunately was delivered after we had our steak. I think i would i come back in the future.
Good venue, would be cosy on a cold winters Friday night after work.
Good craft beer on tap
Friendly bar staff.
Good steak.
I'll be back...
This is a meat place: portions are big, meat are the star of the show whether it is chicken or the 700g eye beef fillet. We always have a voucher which gets us an anti pasti platter with a bottle of wine. Additionally, we always order the garlic, herb ans seeded mustard bread - so yum ! and the carpaccio - which comes with a parmesan and ricket salad. Service is friendly, the place is quirky. Sekection of reds are fabulous. Very good value.
Food was pretty fab! I loved the pepperberry n brandy sauce- it was yum! There was a mix up with one of the orders at the table but that was promptly rectified and the staff were fantastic! I would go there again
This is a great little restaurant with a vibrant, friendly atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed my oysters kilpatrick and the sherwagyu rump was cooked exactly as ordered.
Out for dinner with a few chaps from work before seeing a band. A couple of them had recently been to The Little Hunter and suggested that we go there as it was close to the venue.
First impressions were good, had a nice character to the building, would like to know its history. There are a number of seating options, we had a booth with the seats not really being deep enough (made it easier to get out) making it a little uncomfortable. There were tables and bench options as well as an outside area which would be lovely if the temperature was much warmer.
The furniture was rustic, nice looking but the table tops were not flat (first world issue I know). One thing that made me happy was that the food was served on normal plates not boards or slate.
The orders were promptly taken (let them know we had a time constraint) with names for each item. The waiter was knowledgeable about the items and was very pleasant.
The meals when delivered has lost reference to who ordered what but all was good with no meal being wrong.
The steaks were all good, my rump was cooked as ordered (I had read in other reviews that the meat was cooked underdone to the request so I went medium hoping for medium rare but I got a very good medium). Meat was tender and tasty and very reasonably priced. The side salad was very good, good fresh ingredients, well dressed and an ample quantity. The vegitables according to Wes were also very good.
In summary a good night out can recommend it for a nice steak dinner.
Tasty food and fabulous staff. Recommend booking before hand, but the trio of dips followed by rump steak was yummmmmm 😋 a tasty beverage in the beer garden is also a necessity
I went for my birthday with 2 other friends. I loved the service, we made a last minute impromptu booking and the waiter was so lovely. We had 10 minutes to make it to the venue before kitchen closed and so I requested to order the food over the phone as we were still finding parking. They allowed this even though i thought they might say no. I recommend the wagyu steak medium rare l. I am going again today with work mates for a Xmas party, I know what I will be ordering. My mates ordered the angus medium. A bit too dry for my taste buds. I guess everyone has there preference but i seem to aee reviews people complaining about bloody rare steaks. Is guess if you like medium rare this place does it welll. 5 out of 5 stars
Great steak and good service. Well done. Had rump and garlic bread. Atmosphere was vibrant and still comfortable. Recommend you give this place a go.
Our hotel staff suggested we visit this place for steak. Most of us ordered the 300g Benbrook Angus Porterhouse, medium well with different accompaniments, garlic bread and a bottle of wine. The garlic bread was average. I had no complains about my steak, but others did. My husband said that his steak looked smaller than everyone else's. Our server told us that it depended on the weight. However, it did look really small. Someone else in a group believed that their steak was medium rare instead of medium well. But we didn't really have the time to wait or argue as our food had already arrived late.
Had an excellent meal. quick and tasty. Good service would recommend to all.--------------@@@@@@--------------..-------------140 is too many
Great amazing place! so funky!. Great place to eat, drink and relax. Book a table of 20 for a family birthday and it was amazing. Staff were so good and management made sure we were a priority which made the experience even better. Food was on time and taste great. Prices are cheap which they shouldn't be for the amount of food you get compared to many other place. We will be back as many times as we can. love, love, loved it! :)
Good steak and atmosphere. This place is quite cool and relaxed, the steaks are nice, but seemed a bit pricey for what appears to be quite simple food. Would not say value for money as we were still hungry after the meal. The potato chips were nice but only had a small portion. The outdoor area was interesting.
Excellent service and the food is great. Only let down is that they do not have a dessert menu.
I had the 700g rib eye on the bone snd it was as good a steak as I've ever eaten. As good as rockpool dry aged and half the price. Everything we had was PERFECT. I wouldnt change a thing about it. Cannot reccomend highly enough
I had a delicious tender porterhouse steak that was cooked to perfection with tasty vegetable. I would defiantly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice casual outing :)
I had the scotch fillet, my wife had the wagu rump. Both with mash and veggies and choice of sauce served in a separate sauce jug. Cooked perfectly. Great size and reasonably priced. Great surrounds. Enjoy.
Had the 500g Benbrook Angus Beef Porterhouse steak w/ Diane sauce. Great amount of salad and mash. Delicious salad dressing complimented the meal. Cooked to perfection. Great staff and friendly cook. Had a good experience here the first time coming here and will definitely be back.
Big portion size. You might think twice if you want entreè the mains are could make you satiety. Slow cooked rib has full bodied flavors. Meat skewer is with charcoal taste and has smokiness. I hope that they change the photo in the menu because they don't offer bone marrow and I went there for the bone marrow. Drink was served fast but the food took awhile.
As the evening got more busy, I felt they needed additional staff. However, the staff they do have here are terrific. Bar with everything you could possibly desire. Lovely venue, snazzy interior and with a nice warm fire.
As a steakhouse, beef is obviously the primary menu choice and they do it very well. Superbly cooked steak evenly and to your liking. Big crunchy chips and a crisp fresh salad.
You can choose a thick and lean sirloin or try for wagyu/marbling as you feel. They’ll look after you. Clearly these guys know how to cook steaks properly!
The kids meals were a decent size. The staff were very friendly and warming throughout.
If you’re not up for a heavy steak, can always go for the 350g chicken schnitzel. Great value.
This gem is hidden away and well worth a visit. It’s not a cheap eat but you wouldn’t expect it to be given the high quality.
I look forward to returning and upgrading this review to a 5 star. 👍
The slow cooked ribs were splendid and the lamb chops with parsnip puree was delicious too. The steak was great too. The friendly staff was the best of all :)
It's got a rustic vibe to it. Great atmosphere, relaxing and warm with the fire pit. The Kilpatrick oysters were not what it seemed, was thinking more of a cheesey baked goodness, but the oysters were still bit raw and fishy, and there was no cheese. The mock tails were not bad, quite fruity with a lot of pineapple juice flavour in the watermelon mocktail. Beef ribs were the highlight of the night. So tender and juicy, saucey and delicious, mashed potatoes went so well with it. The sirloin steak was also tender and juicy. Would've liked more mushroom sauce with it. Chips were OK, not very crispy.
It is worth to walk half an hour to get there in a cold night. Juicy tender eye fillet with creamy garlic sauce.. good service and feel welcome by the staff ❤
The mushroom sauce was great! The rib eye fillet was nice, I like the mashed potatoes, and the lamb chop was good as well. Bake potato not too good, bit hard, but acceptable. Overall, not a bad choice for dinner if you like steaks:)
Your staff turn our meal in to a great experience! We were a large table that arrived early (when your doors opened) on Saturday night. Your staff were very welcoming, attentive, wonderful, fun and enjoyed joining the banter of the bucks! despite how busy it was we never felt neglected and always made sure we had drinks!
We had a great chat to the manager who was new and asked for feedback on the wait staff as many were new as well. At no point could you tell they were new. They were well presented and great to deal with. Nothing was an issue or too difficult. I even saw the manager helping when it got busy. Now that is a great team!
The food, WOW just as amazing as the staff!
Great value for money! Cooked perfectly- which seems to be difficult for a proper medium rare steak of that thickness. Was so tasty I couldn’t get enough!
I will certainly be returning for more :)
