What a truly fantastic place to eat, it was the best meal we had on our stay in Adelaide, each dish was explained in full detail and was so fresh and delish, from the Oysters for entree to our gorgous green tea tiramisu, but the Duck breast, and Lamb mains were to die for, will so recommend this to friends as a must visit .
Delicious meal last night. Entree tasting plate followed by melt in the mouth Kirin and red wine braised beef cheek, and roasted duck breast with dumplings. Sobako crepe with caramelised apple for desert.
Food was delicious, I went there for lunch and got a beautiful serve of fruit salad with my bento, the fruits were fresh and sweet, the best I've had in a long time. I was more than pleased with the service, the waitress was attentive. I was very happy that the waitress offered advice on how to eat my dish and get the most out of the flavours and textures. I was very pleased with my experience. Thank you to the staff I loved it.

Beautiful food to look at, exquisite to taste, lovely staff who explained everything and so obviously have a passion for what is being served...I'm so glad I found my way here, was my best food experience
Amazing high tea experience. Great atmosphere and the waiters are very friendly. I will definitely be back to try Something else.
The high tea room was very unique in the way it maintained the Japanese style. We also had to take of our shoes. The experience was very authentic and all the food, drinks, desserts tasted really nice!
Delicious food, great service and very friendly staff. We're from Sydney and I been telling my friends if they are in Adelaide city this place is a must dinning.
The seating upstairs is really cute and the menu is amazing. I don't usually like macha but the tiramisu is fantastic. The fried oysters were my favourite by far. The staff were lovely and accommodating of my allergies. I would definitely go again.
OMG this was THE best meal I have had! So fresh, clean and the flavours were amazing Special mention to the Matcha Tiramisu...to die for

Could not fault! Came here for our anniversary and the staff went above and beyond any of our expectations. A special shout out to the chefs. My taste buds are going to be dancing for weeks!
Thank you all so so much!
My husband and I dined here last night for our Wedding Anniversary and we had the Traditional Kaiseki Course. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and explained each course. The Macha Tiramisu was a great way to finish the meal. Will definitely come back again.
Impeccable service and incredible food. This was our second time dining here and both visits have been amazing. The best and freshest Sashimi in all of Adelaide, and the stand out of the night would have to be the Wagyu Carpaccio, the only bad thing about it was I had to share it with my partner!
Will be making another booking soon to bring some family back
Took the family there for their first Japanese cuisine experience. What an amazing evening. The staff were delightful, the food incredible and the traditional decor was gorgeous. Loved every minute and will be going back!

• The restaurant is located on the first floor of a five-star hotel named Stamford Plaza. The view of the streets from the window on a rainy day was absolutely beautiful and serene.
• Sukiyaki Japanese Hot Pot ($48): one-person hotpot, the main ingredient of the soup is soy sauce. It has lots of mushroom and a fair amount of beef. • Grilled seasonal market fish Saikyo Style (GF) ($34): I love the taro balls and the potato chips. Also, the fish is very juicy. However, its taste is dominated by the flavour of the rice puff.
• Matcha tiramisu (vegetarian) ($15): omg, it’s so good i can feel that everything is melting in my mouth. The black sesame ice cream is also delicious. The taste is rich and a bit sweet.
• Choya extra years (plum wine) ($12): The taste is pretty nice. if you want to make it less intense, it is recommended to add a few cubes of ice. #uyeneatandplaynotebook#stamfordplaza#ginzamiyako#japanesefood#asianfoodlover#shotoniphonex#sukiyaki#matchatiramisu#matchadessert#matcha#eatadelaide#melbournefoodblogger
A great Japanese restaurant that was attached on level 1 of where I was staying. I had the chefs selection of Sashimi for entree which was very fresh and very tasty! Along with the Roasted Coorong Angus eye fillet w/ wasabi foam. Cooked to perfection and very tasty. Meals are not big. So I had room to try the Matcha Tiramisu which was nice and filled the spot.
Would come back here!
10% off when staying at Stamford Plaza hotel!
Food: Bit of a hit and miss. Most were really delicious. Especially loved the sukiyaki. The dessert could be given a miss.
Ambiance: Smart and nice decor. We were seated at the tatami area which was pleasant.
Service: 5/5. Very attentive and friendly.
Night out in Ginza was superb!
Staffs were really sweet and friendly, food was great and we got a free sake by tagging them on social media.
We ordered Sukiyaki Shabu set - enough for two people. It has assorted mushrooms, veggues, beef and condiments. Broth was pretty sweet and it got the right balance of saltiness. Would order this again! Just a shame the noodle comes very little so we ordered an extra steamed rice on the side. 4.5/5
Then our fusion sushi which was four different rolls of their unique combinations arrived. They have a separate page on their menu about what rolls you get. Ours had wagyu beef roll with pineapple and apple filling(3pcs), smoked unagi roll (3pcs), aburi salmon with avicado and cream cheese(3pcs) and tuna mentai roll with beetroot and capsicum filling (3pcs).
To me, this fusion was average. Some of the combinations didn't work too well like beetroot filling that was dry, or beef pineapple combo. Unagi was the better one out of all. Although thr wagyu beef roll has this burst of flavor in your mouth when you eat it. 3.5/5
For dessert, we ordered matcha tiramisu with black sesame seed. To be honest, the matcha tiramisu taste nothing but pile of plain cake and cream. Lots of cream. With a pinch of matcha powder. Black sesame ice cream was great though. 3.5/5
Would come back to try their boat assorted or other mains next time!
Found this place near the hotel I’m staying.. great atmosphere and excellent service.. food and drinks was average~ I was hesitating to give a 3.5 but there isn’t an option. Tempura was very good 4/5.. nigiri wasn’t. More sushi train quality.. but the price wasn’t bad at all.. so I’m going to give it a 3/5~ i was craving for nigiri and I’ve had it.. satisfied!!
Really great food, quick friendly service, clean casual and inviting atmosphere —-- what more can one ask for when delighting in yummy sushi !!
This was was delicious! Ordered a big hot pot, and a side of sashimi and everything was delicious. was a nice occasion so spent a bit but it was well worth it. will be back
Will come back for:
+ Wagyu Carpaccio
+ Sushi and Sashimi Boat
Adelaide is a city known for its great seafood, and this is certainly one of the places to find it. We were wanting to taste some of the local seafoods and ordered the sushi and sashimi boat (which whilst not big, offered some fine and delicately prepared seafood that singed on the palette). We also had the wagyu carpaccio to start the meal, and this was also an exceptional dish (great delicately sliced carpaccio with lots of crunchy textures to go with it). Prices are above average for sure, but service was polite and efficient. The place was well decorated and remind me of the ones you would fine tatami restaurant in Japan. Recommended.
I have been to Ginza Miyako both times I visited Adelaide and both times wondered why it was not busier than it was. It is a lovely mix of mostly reasonably classic Japanese cuisine (sashimi, tempura) with a hint of European influence (beef carpaccio but with a Japanese dressing). The service is excellent, the wine list small-ish but local wineries and reasonably priced.
There is the option to sit at standard tables or those cleverly made tables that appear to have you sitting on the floor but actually have a cut out under the table so you are really only at floor level. It's a novelty but something different.
In all likelihood I will visit Ginza Miyako when I am (more than likely) back visiting Adelaide.
Great service, the staff were more than eager to assist in anyway. I found that the hotpot was/is the best choice from the quality of flavour and serving, especially for the price you pay. The sushi rolls on the other hand, for the lack of flavour they produced, the quality of fish and ingredients was excellent and therefore made up for the it all. The large price for fine dining is to be expected especially for this extent of skill and quality brought into the food, I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is interested in tasting palettes of fine Japanese cuisine whilst enjoying the company with another.
@goldencreekite we ate the set menu#2 this was very good.
Dessert was particularly delicious but serve could be halved it was too big. Would return and try individual dishes next time
Amazing food and service!! Seafood very fresh. The matcha tiramisu is my favourite dessert ever. The steak cooked perfectly. Will be back soon.
This is gonna be one of my new favourite places to go for a special occasion. My boyfriend and I went there for our anniversary and we were both very impressed at the atmosphere, the delicious food and the high quality of service. We happened to go on a night that was very quiet, so we had the whole traditional room to ourselves and it was a very romantic and intimate experience. This is the sort of place where they call you "sir" and "miss", refill your water for you and place napkins on your lap.
We ordered an entree, a sushi platter, a tempura dish and a few assorted sides to share between us. The friendly servers explained all the dishes as they brought them out to us, and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. I have read a few complaints on here that the food is pricy for such small portions, but I think that for the quality of the food, the atmosphere and the service, it's well worth it. It's just more of an upscale place. We both had a wonderful time there.
For those inclined, Ginza Miyako also has some very delicious vegan/vegetarian options. My boyfriend is vegan, so the servers let us know whenever any toppings or sauces we considered contained animal products and offered tasty alternatives. I would love to return sometime for lunch to try their specials, and for another lovely dinner. If you love Japanese food and are looking for a nice upscale dining experience, try Ginza Miyako!
Dined here with a group of 10 for a birthday celebration. Awesome atmosphere and love the set up. Have to take shoes off upon arrival in the seated floor area.
One of the best Japanese Restaurants I've ever been to! One , because their food was outstanding. Two, their service was fantastic!!. The waitress were wearing Traditional Japanese Clothing and they have this room where you can sit on the floor and eat like the Japanese. It was a lovely experience and defs coming back!!
I went for dinner, had an entree and dessert. I enjoyed a truly Japanese experience in terms of food and Umeshu + Sake, staff were friendly and took the time to explain different types of Sake and Umeshu which would complement the food. The choice of desserts were also well explained and we had the Tiramisu with green tea powder and black sesame ice cream which was not too sweet. I liked the Classic Choya umeshu that was recommended. Would definitely go again.
Very nice traditional japanese decor. Has an option for traditional japanese seating. The angus was nicely done and well presented. Service was great.
The staffs who served us were the most respectful people I have met in a while, very professional at what they do. The staff did suggest many main courses for us which helped us to decide quickly and not wait like a headless chickens 😅
The main course dishes were exceptionally well-made, especially the duck meet were cooked to perfecrion, which such a juciy and tender bite. The soups in my opinion were strangely sweet, too sweet for my liking but overall the sushi and oysters there are a 'must get' dishes.
Very nice tasting menu, but a tad minimalistic in terms of portions. Everything was so fresh and fabulous but 3 hours wait was way too long for our children. This was just unfortunate timing *due to the Clipsal* and we had a phone call from the manager the next day to apologise. We would have to go again as the food was worth the effort.
5 star restaurant Ginza Miyako was a little out of my budget but it was Father's Day so I made a little exception to treat my parents to a fancy dinner. We were not disappointed! The service was lovely all the staff that attended to us were very patient and explained everything to us with smiles. Our favourite dishes were the vegetarian ones (my dad is vegetarian) especially the Yu Tofu on the entree menu. Whilst I personally enjoyed the beef sukiyaki, both my mother and i can positively agree that the sauce/soup base was very salty so a warning to those who want to try it! For desserts, I strongly recommend the green tea tiramisu.
On a business trip to Adelaide and after craving Japanese, stopped in to get my fill. The entrée was delicious, wagu beef, aside from the salad, which didn't do the dish justice. Take the salad off and there's a perfect entrée. My main, duck, was lovely and full of flavour. The only element of the dish I didn't like was the polenta (dry and tasteless). The miso infused sauce and the duck combined was a huge hit for me. To finish off two great dishes I had matcha tiramasu for dessert. I can honestly say that even though I've never had a matcha flavoured tiramasu before, it was one of the best tiramasu I've ever had. The matcha flavour wasn't too overpowering and went well with the black sesame icecream. Next time I return I'm going to get seconds.
Delicious delicate foods .. Sushi are quite average - don't order it ... The king crab is worth the money $20... Lovely service .. Highly recommended for special occasion of a romantic date ! 💁🏻💕
I recently visited Ginza Miyako, located on the first floor of the Stamford Hotel. I’d not been there before and was excited to sample their new seasonal menu and soak in the atmosphere. Upon entry I was pleasantly surprised by the culture and essence they’d captured so successfully. I was immediately transported to Japan, where I was asked to leave my shoes at the door (Thank God I was wearing clean socks!).
Very friendly staff. The food is fantastic, I highly recommend the Black Angus steak. The beef is very tender and juicy. The sashimi is super fresh and juicy.
This was a great surprise as we are avid Japanese food lovers and have not been impressed with some of the Japanese restaurants in Adelaide. It is Japanese fusion food, delightfully presented both in terms of food, taste and plate design.Service is typical of Japanese style, courteous and mindful of the patrons needs. The restaurant has two styles, table and chair and the ground seats - shoes off please. Can't wait to go back.

Ginza Miyako is on the first floor of the Stamford Plaza Hotel and fronts onto North Terrace. It’s part of Taste of the Orient Group that’s also responsible for Ginza Japanese restaurant, Burger Foundry, Golden Dragon Palace Seafood Restaurant (Yum!), Indochina and establishments overseas.
Great service, food was delcious and fresh.
We opted for the set 5 or 6 course option, all of which was great. Stonegrill wagyu was a great cut of meat, the dessert was an odd pairing of green tea tiramisu with black sesame ice cream.. when eaten together was fantastic! Quiet and classy atmosphere.
Would definitely return.
Good experience.was greeted by a really nice waitress. Highly recommend the tempura and stonegrill wagyu. High quality beef and melt in your mouth but you have to cook it yourself. Would come back for special ocxasions. . Entree wise the chicken pate and beef carpaccio was good
Overall the dishes were good. We ordered the seafood egg custard, fresh oysters & sashimi as entrées. The black beef fillet & stone grill wagyu as mains. + dessert. The sashimi & the black sesame cream brûlée were the highlights!
Ordered the traditional kaiseki course and a bottle of sake, could not fault a single thing about the whole experience. The service was top notch, the food was unbelievable and very filling, you definitely get your money's worth as it is such high quality, all the flavours were perfect! Will be going there again, definitely... But maybe when I've saved up a bit more money.
In Adelaide for work, Ginza Miyako is right beside my hotel. Wandered down around 7:15 on a Friday night looking for dinner and wound up on their doorstep. I immediately felt a little underdressed but I was already here... Decided on a quail dish (which I've never eaten before), took one bite and declared the restaurant my 2nd favourite, ever. Not the cheapest eating in town, but for the first time in a restaurant like this I didn't feel that I had received less than my money's worth. My only disappointment was that I didn't have anyone to share such good food with!
Ginza you have won my heart over! Every dish we had was perfection, each taking me on its own journey. I've never had oysters presented with such flavoursome twists before. The beef fillet blew me away with the assortment of ingredients and the presentation, I ignored my side of fries and I never do that! The green tea tiramisu was surprisingly amazing and especially because I'm fussy when it comes to tiramisu also. Just everything was fantastic! Service was just as amazing!
Really liked this place. The dining area is so cool- on arrival remove ur shoes and the floor is sunken in so ur feet are below and it's like ur on the floor but not, but ur served by the loveliest of girls in komonos who kneel at the table for ur order, and the Japanese sliding doors & artwork makes it feel even more traditional. The food was really tasty my fave was the sushi/ sashimi boat it was so fresh, mains are fairly westernised but good, and the green tea tiramisu had black sesame icecream I've never tried before and found oddly satisfying. All round yumbers 😊
There are some upmarket restaurants out there that haven’t changed their menu in years. Ginza Miyako is a bit different as they constantly introduce new menu items to keep customers interested. A select few of us were invited to the restaurant to sample their new dishes. All food and drink was provided free of charge. I’ve already reviewed their restaurant on 5 separate occasions, so I’m going to get straight into the food.
Beautiful, perfect for a romantic dinner. Service was friendly and attentive. We were given a complimentary cocktail as it was Valentine's Day. Yu Tofu was delicious and beautifully presented. Tofu steak main had so much flavour and was amazing. Sushi was fresh and flavoursome. Recommend for a special occasion and will return.
The restaurant is beautiful
Food is delicious and extremely well priced
The servers are beautifully respectful and helpful.
Wine is yummy and and greatly priced as well!
And Desert is a must!!!
This restaurant is a real experience and is perfect for every occasion, a quick lunch break, family dinner or romantic evening.
Adelaide Food Central was invited to experience the Fusion Japanese High Tea at Ginza Miyako. All food and drink were provided free of charge. I must admit, I’m not an expert when it comes to high tea as I’ve never been to one. From what I understand, people sit around and graze on an assortment of sandwiches and sweets. Ginza Miyako have put a twist on the traditional high tea by creating their own fusion Japanese version. Customers are given an assortment of tapas style French-Japanese fusion dishes, and then a selection of sweets to match. There’s a lot of food to cover, so we’ll get straight into it.
I don't understand how there could be an negative reviews about this place. If you don't like the Japanese decor then ask to be seated in the other section. Simple. However, I find the Japanese section lovely and peaceful. The food has never been anything but amazing (I have been twice now) and the service is perfect. Students can get 20% off the total bill by using the app PokitPal and that just adds to the value. There is definitely a french feel with some of the menu items and it works well. I could not recommend this place enough.
P.S. The sashimi set and stone grill are amaaazing
Beautiful restaurant with a great menu and lots of vegan options. The staff are so lovely, too. The tofu hot pot was great, as was the tofu steak.
Great food!. Had sashimi plate only comment that tuna a little thick but delicious. Service impeccable, great value
Excellent atmosphere and beautiful food. Though the menu was not large, the food itself was delicious. Food came out without a long wait. A good range of sake which complemented the food. Though I didn't have dessert, the friends that did said the trio of ice creams were unbelievably good. The flute player just added that something special to the background feel. Not cheap at $180 for 3 people, but certainly worth it.
Amazing food coupled with lovely & attentive staff. Had a few first timers who are looking forward to returning.
Wagyu Beef Sugiyaki. Yummy yummy
French fusion done right. Had dinner on Saturday and what a great experience it was!
the beef we had was juicy and succulent and beautifully presented
LoKing forward to our next visit!
New menu is great, I will recommand. I just tried their new menu today with my friends, we all loved it. Out of all Janpanese restaurants here, we just found our new favorite. Btw, like the kimino and wish I have one too
Fantastic modern Japanese cuisine , situated across from Parliament House
Lunch review (brief). So I was actually the very first customer ever at ginza miyako. I love Japanese food and so popped in for a quick lunch.
Service: Great service. Highly attentive when I came. Maybe even slightly too attentive. Also had a small issue with the parking which took them awhile to resolve. 4/5
Ambiance: Beautiful place. Maybe the seats and tables are placed too close together. Sat in the traditional area and I could hear the very boisterous conversation of the nearby table. Of course it doesn't help that they were all middle age white ladies consuming alcohol. They also did get louder throughout the lunch. 4/5
Food: Ordered the eel rice hotpot dish together with the ramen. The eel rice dish was strangely lacking in flavour and appeal. Looked quite poorly presented and there was almost no eel I could notice. For 19 dollars you would think I would at least be able to see some eel but I found it sorely lacking in substance. The ramen was tasty but a tad bit oily. Once again also lacking in any real substance. The food was tasty but for the price I paid I would certainly expect more. 3/5
Overall: An interesting and tasty eat especially for lunch but be prepared to pay for the service and ambiance. Still contemplating if my wallet can take a dinner hit here.
I had dinner with my girlfriend in Miyako tonite. The food was quite impressive. We ordered some sashimi and oyster, they are really fresh! The service is good too. Definitely will be bk!
We had lunch in ginza today because their lunch express deal has extended to Saturday. We ordered the chicken karaage lunch set, the tofu lunch set & the tempura udon. The chicken was crunchy on the outside. The meat melt in your mouth with a hint of Ginger.excellent food & very attentive service. Will go back again.
A Frenchman In Adelaide
+4.5
Romantic atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonably fast service, and excellent food: the best bento box I've tasted in Adelaide. Menu is varied and original and there is a great selection of sake and shochu. Highly recommended!
Fresh Fresh. Every single dish was superb and the service was great.
Ginza Miyako @ Adelaide, SA went to this new Japanese restaurant at Stamford Hotel to celebrate my parents’ birthday. I had the Sushi sashimi boat, Kaiseki Bento and Roasted Wagyu Fillet. Overall the food are pretty good. All sushi and sashimi are very fresh and tasty. I can claim that they have the best sashimi amongst all Japanese restaurant in Adelaide. The roasted wagyu fillet is superb, so tender and delicious. One little downside are the teriyaki chicken and kingfish in the bento. They are a bit tasteless as sauce is not enough and not marinated enough.
Ginza Miyako (‘Ginza City’) is the recently opened sister branch of the Ginza Japanese restaurant in Unley, with its home in the prestigious Stamford Plaza on North Tce (previously Rickshaws I believe!). Another unique dining experience for us Adelaideans produced by the ‘Taste of the Orient’ group, who own restaurants from all over Australia, China and Hong Kong. Ginza Miyako promises a fusion of fine-dining Japanese and French cuisine, with head chef Gamo Haruo (previously at Matsuri) leading the creations.
There's a new gem in town and it's very much worth a visit, a few in fact. It's not everyday a menu is this exciting and nearly every dish appealed to us. Right on North Terrace in Adelaide CBD amongst all the buzz, there's Ginza Miyako . A new Japanese French fusion restaurant located on Level 1 of Stamford Plaza Adelaide Hotel. I wasn't sure what to expect as I've never encountered Japanese French fusion food before. I can assure you, it was a very pleasant discovery. Japanese Roasted Rice Tea Inside the decor is nothing short of elegance, clean and crisp with a strong Japanese influence. Guests can choose to dine at the front section with normal tables and chairs or in the tatami section for a more complete Japanese experience. Note, you will need to remove your shoes for the tatami section. We were presented the menu to browse through and I must say the options are exciting. They offer some traditional Japanese dishes but if I may give a suggestion, try the real stars of the menu. Ocean Trout Confit $16 We started off with a beautiful Ocean Trout Confit with fennel seaweed salad, carrot puree and wasabi sour cream . The ocean trout was cured with orange for a citrus flavour then confit at 55ºC for 10 minutes just to cook it to medium. The presentation was im
Ginza Miyako. Does the name sound familiar? When I was extended an invite to try out the new menu at Ginza Miyako a fortnight ago, I thought I was getting an invite to Ginza on Unley Road (!). Just days before the proposed dinner date, I double checked my emails and came to the realisation that no, it wasn’t the Ginza on Unley Road but the ‘other’ Ginza on North Terrace on level 1 of the Stamford Plaza Hotel – Ginza Miyako. Now that would have been embarassing if we were to rock up at the wrong Ginza! Phew~ Crisis averted! Both restaurants adopt the same name as they are both part of The Taste of Orient group, but Ginza Miyako is a more sophisticated version of its sister restaurant with a fusion of both Japanese and French cuisine. They have just recently appointed a new, young and creative chef from Tokyo to their team: Kazuki Ushiro, who has 13 years experience and has worked in restaurants in New York City, Paris, Tokyo and Melbourne. The restaurant has 2 seperate dining areas: the usual western style with tables and chairs and the traditional Japanese style referred to as the tatami area, whereby diners take off their shoes, proceed up a small flight of stairs and sit at a low table on the floor. Traditionally, diners would sit in a proper formal position with legs crossed on the floor but there were ‘holes’ underneath the tables so we could let our feet dangle comfortably. We chose to sit in the tatami area to get the full experience. Sake The staff were very accommodating and friendly, serving us drinks and making sure that we were comfortable. We were presented two entrees to start, with the chef personally coming out and explaining his creations and how both Japanese and French influences were presented on each dish. Venison tataki; $19.00 Too pretty to eat I say! The lightly seared venison slices were perfect and tender with crisp peppery rocket leaves sitting on top of the venison. Alongside the mound of brightness was some crunchy pickled vegetables of b
