We arrived for a late dinner around 9.30 had a through enjoyable meal I had the lamb and my partner had the wagu steak both cooked to perfection matched with a perfect Shiraz recommended by our waitress who was informative and totally attentive. We highly recommend a visit.
Love Coal Cellar and Grill for a lovely quick lunch with friends. I love that the lunch express menu changes every few weeks, you will never be bored with the menu

Exceptional restaurant. Fine dining that is suitable for a special occasion or just for the patron staying at the hotel. The service was second to none, the meals outstanding, spectacular choice of dishes and drinks. A very memorable night. Take your special someone there.
Excellent good and service would recommend it
The food was amazing as was the service by a young man from Hahndorf he was excellent
We will definitely be coming back
Please read my review. I am an average guy with no real food knowledge other than my own experience. To set the scene it is my wife and my first wedding anniversary. We are dining here right now. When we arrived and was met with great service. My wife and I were given ample time to order. We weren't pushed but regularly politely asked if we were ready. I hate people being pushy but they weren't here. With our drinks choice I asked for the best option for the meals I had chosen so I could take advantage of the "cellar". I ended up with the best Merlot I have ever tasted. Great knowledge. They read me well. Our starter was slightly delayed but before we even noticed the waitress informed us and gave us some complimentary bread and a free drink. All un-provoked. GREAT SERVICE. When our ham board arrived (the starter) boy was it worth the wait. We were hoping that our mains were just as good. My wife and I both got steaks to take advantage of the "grill". They were so much better than we could have hoped. I had the Wagyu rump and my wife had the gold beef fillet. Both were cooked exactly how we asked. WOW!!! We also had some sides of duck fat chips and asparagus which were both perfection. Somehow we thought we could squeeze in desert. I opted for a fortified to go with it. I asked for help with choosing one. An expert came over with his top 3 choices and let me try them. WHAT AMAZING SERVICES. No let downs here. We chose our deserts and they came out looking like something that the best chefs would offer. And the taste matched the look. I had a Caramelised white chocolate terrine and my wife had the bombe. This night has been the most amazing feast. The prices were far too modest for the quality of food and service that we were given. We are still sitting at our table now feeling very full and very lucky that we got to have our first wedding anniversary dinner here at Coal Cellar + Grill. Don't take my word for it. Give it a go. Thank you to the chef and all the staff.
Beautiful food and great service. Celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary tonight and had a fabulous night. We will definitely be back and highly recommend you to everyone. Thanks again.
Coal Cellar + Grill at Hilton Adelaide highlights the best of South Australia's produce with a team of talented chefs offering a mouth-watering menu that praises and reflects the beauty of South Australian produce within the dishes.
Incorporating a mixture of materials with natural timbers, leather, marble, granite and other rich textures, Coal Cellar + Grill showcases a contemporary eatery and lounge. Exposed concrete pillars and ceilings and large open spaces with bespoke furniture reflect contemporary design with raw, simple lines.
The menu has changed quite a bit since I was last here, but pictured is what was ordered from their 'express lunch' menu. The food exceeded my expectations, with lovely service as a bonus! Truly value for money if you're looking for something fancy but inexpensive for lunch. Would dine back here again for sure! (P.S. The salmon dish pictured was to die for!!)
The winter solstice may be passed and daylight is slowly creeping its way through our windows for longer each day, but this is still very much the season for comfort food. Rich, opulant, hearty fare is what this is about, and if you can add quality red wine to the mix, even better. Essentially what this describes is the Winter Food and Wine Series at Coal Cellar and Grill. On the back of the success from 2017, The Hilton Adelaide’s restaurant plays host to three different bespoke menu’s for the respective months of winter.
We have visited Coal on numerous occasions however I just remembered to add it. A recent stay at The Hilton encouraged us to visit this great bar almost every night we were here. Good bar staff & nice ambiance.
Stayed overnight in the Hilton Adelaide. Had breakfast here morning after. Good eggs. Creamy scrambled eggs. Can be busy and difficult to get a table especially if there is a convention in town.
Very enjoyable meal at this restaurant. Spacious dining room decorated in earthy tones.
Staff were very responsive to my requests for information in regard to the menu, and service was efficient and courteous.
The menu is comprehensive but concise. The wine list is large, offering some excellent wines.
I had San Choy Bow which was chicken based, with light Asian flavours enhancing the dish.
For my main I had the (large) Pork Cutlet, with mashed potato, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, and piquant sauce. Great meat, really enhanced by the sauce.
From the wine list I chose the 2010 Willunga 100 The Tithings Grenache. Went well with the food, and was a great choice.
We came here for a Mother's Day dinner last night. Very large open space with classy decorations. Not sure about the ceilings though. They were understandably very busy, although gave excellent service despite this. The Morton bay bugs were delicious as an entree although definitely enough for two to share! We had steak, kangaroo and fish for mains. The steak and kangaroo were perfectly cooked and tender. The fish was a little dry but when this was pointed out they were very apologetic, offered to replace it, bring extra sauces & offered us free drinks later in the meal. The smashed potato side dish was AMAZING, so crispy and full of flavour. I didn't have dessert but they looked great too. Definitely worth a visit for a nice occasion.
Coal is a classy venue offering great cuisine.
My risotto was cooked well and a nice size, allowing room for sides and dessert. The pal's beef burger was larger, meaning she struggled with our sweet treats later, but they were too good to refuse.

What used to be called The Brasserie has transformed into a classy looking bar/ restaurant called Coal Cellar + Grill. It has had a complete make over with what I say different style of cooking. The name of this restaurant suggests there are a lot of items that would come from the Grill and therefore definitely a lot of meat on the menu. If you like your protein and fine dining, this restaurant would be the ideal place.
Coal Cellar + Grill is the newly renovated and refurbished restaurant located inside the luxurious Hilton Adelaide hotel. The place is furnished with lots of dark wood, exposed ceilings, leather and a mixture of industrial accents giving it a more modern and luxurious vibe and atmosphere. The restaurant utilises the best of South Australian produce and has an extensive wine list boasting over 500 wine labels to choose from.

I was invited to dine at Coal Cellar and Grill in Adelaide as part of the Tasting Australia 2016 Festival. The gorgeous Coal Cellar and Grill in Adelaide delivered on our high expectations with an impressive tasting menu that showcased the best of what South Australia has to offer.
Coal Cellar and Grill was reasonably busy for a Monday night however, the service was attentive all night. The food was lovely. My friend and I shared a variety of starters and side dishes and all were delicious. If you're into meat their steak menu looked amazing.
Queen’s Birthday public holiday is officially done and over. Just one more public holiday left (Labour Day) to go this year before Christmas rears its festive head around! Meanwhile, before then, why not treat yourself to a cheeky express work day lunch at Coal Cellar + Grill for only $25 which includes a choice of main (which changes every fortnight), a glass of house wine, beer or soft drink and a coffee!
We love the Express Menu concept, which enables you to enjoy a great menu without the time pressure, sometimes associated with a lunch meal that runs late. And what better way to impress clients, colleagues or special friends alike, by having this at such a famous venue as the Hilton.
Gone are the days of having to grab a quick, usually unhealthy, bite to eat during your lunch break because you have to rush back to the office. Did you know that COAL Cellar + Grill at the Hilton is offering an Express Lunch along with a glass of house wine, beer or soft drink + a coffee for only $25? Yes, you did read that right!
I’ve already had two good encounters with Coal Cellar & Grill at Adelaide Hilton. Once at the launch and again for our Tasting Australia Words To Go dinner. This time I was invited back to check out their Express Lunch menu. I’m looking at all you lucky city workers who get to lunch. While they won’t mind you staying for a long lunch, this is designed with your time sensitive lunch break in mind. For just $25 you will get a great quality meal including a main, a glass of wine/beer/soft drink and a coffee all within 1 hour. The lunch menu changes from time to time with four choices including a vegetarian choice at any time so you can keep going back to try new dishes.
Die hard foodies from around the globe anticipate the week-long Tasting Australia festival happening on a yearly basis right here in South Australia. Whether you book in for a one of a kind foodie experience or simply frolic around the Tasting Australia hub in Victoria Square, fun and full stomachs are always guaranteed. There is even a special treat for the food bloggers among us with "Words to Go" offering a three day experience meeting chefs and other leaders in the business as well as lots of food and beverage tastings.
A tiered stand filled with a selection of savoury and sweet goodies, a glass of sparkling ($39) and access to the indulgent Chocolate Bar ($12). That is High Societea high tea at Coal, within the Hilton hotel. A perfect Saturday afternoon, if you ask me.
The set up is quite simple, nothing too over the top. The main decorative piece of the afternoon was the Chocolate Bar including fondue, mousse, chocolate tarts, brownies, mini chocolate (of course) cream ice creams, to name just a few of the available options.
Despite being completely booked out, the service was lovely, friendly and attentive.
A fabulous experience at Coal. I cannot wait to dine at the restaurant!

Here’s a place I’d been curious about – the new restaurant taking over the large space formerly occupied by the Hilton’s The Brasserie and what used to be The Grange where I used to enjoy Cheong Liew’s food. And now it’s here – Coal Cellar and Grill. It was all a part of the major renovation of the Hilton Hotel’s ground floor and in keeping with the philosophy of the restaurants that came before it, it’s highlighting South Australian produce. Foods are cooked primarily over the charcoal grill and the rotisserie and there are over 500 wine labels for the drinking.
Overall we had an superb night at CCG. Everything from the ambiance, service and food were of impressive quality. It is definitely a place that I would return with a group of friends for a nice night out. We love the idea that you can begin your night with a quality dining experience at CCG and finish with a well made cocktail at Collins Bar. Our team were graciously invited to a menu tasting at the new restaurant in The Hilton Hotel. All food and beverages were provided on behalf of Coal Cellar and Grill (CCG). Camellia and Amanda were the lucky attendees and were eager to see what the space that formerly housed the likes of Cheong Liew and Simon Byrant had to offer.
Old faithful for my work trips to Adelaide. Modern Aussie, local ingredients, some staples on the menu but regularly changes. The refurbishment looks amazing and the variety of spaces (tables, booths, rooms for small groups) make this suitable for a variety of dining needs. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menus and with drinks. At least one of my meals on trips to Adelaide is always here.
The much anticipated Coal Cellar + Grill opened its doors not too long ago revealing a very swish and classy restaurant in place of the Brasserie. The renovations and re-decoration was on point for me with mirrored ceilings, an extended sense of height and grandeur. On first look, it was a very impressive space. We were invited to a very special night to sample a selection of dishes from their menu.
Located in the luxurious Hilton Hotel on Victoria Square, Coal Cellar + Grill brings you the best of South Australian produce with the utmost exquisite selection of dishes and wines. This time last week, we were invited to taste Coal’s latest menu, sampling a set of five gourmet entrees, six delectable mains alongside a couple of sides, and four rich desserts.
Adelaide Food Central were invited to a very special dinner last night at the newly renovated and opened Coal Cellar and Grill at the Hilton Hotel Adelaide. Their menu highlights the best South Australian produce featuring their charcoal grill and rotisserie. They also have 500 wine labels available, majority South Australian and a beautiful cellar on display in the restaurant. They are all about offering more than just a dining experience. Offering wines from the vineyards of the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale to the olive groves and coastal regions of the Eyre Peninsula, Coal Cellar and Grill are seriously SA focused.
On a Saturday night we went to the new Hilton restaurant in Adelaide. The restaurant and lobby lounge had being renovated from April to October 2015. The new restaurant, Coal Cellar + Grill was only opened for less than two weeks and has had a complete makeover with different style of cooking. The entrées and mains were quite innovative and is very different to Modern Australian cuisines we had else where.
Last month, we donned on some fancy cocktail dresses and dusted off our heels whilst we attended the opening of Coal Cellar + Grill at The Hilton Hotel after it went through an extensive renovation which transformed the hotels ground floor. The new renovations reflected an updated look to the interior of the hotel for guests and locals with a modern look and feel with touches of natural timbers, leather, marble, granite and other rich textures to create a luxurious space.
The opening of The Collins Bar inside the Hilton has been a real success story for the global hotel chain. Feeding off the popularity of the trendy bar comes a new refurbished restaurant, Coal Cellar and Grill. The new space is stylish and sophisticated with raw and simple lines. Features include marble, granite, leather, natural timber and custom made furniture, all seamlessly integrated. The highlights for me were the 3000 bottle cellar which houses 500 varieties of wine from around the world, and of course the charcoal grill, hence the name of the establishment.
