The most authentic afghan food I’ve had. The bbq chicken and kebabs were juicy and delightful to have. I do recommend this place to anyone who is in Adelaide and wants to try out proper middle eastern food.
This place truly has one of the best lamb kebabs I have ever tried....great value for the price as well. Highly recommend dining in and enjoy the Afghan music being played in the restaurant.
Great Afghan food on Hindley St with friendly staff, a wide selection of dishes, and delicious lamb kebabs. Great for dinner or if you're in need of a feed after some booze on a late night out.
Wow... I’m writing this review after a month and still can remember my biriyani and kebabs. It’s such a small place in cbd with good food and quantity. I didn’t enjoy the ambience. It would hav been a great experience if not for the ambience. After a travelling a lot in adelaide with to go, this place gave me some flavours of my hometown food but not the same. The aroma of the afghan biriyani was satisfying after my adventurous weekend. Cheap eats and great quantity. Don’t expect more than you pay.
I knew I was in for a good meal when I walked in and smelt the charcoal. Really friendly service here. The manto were delicious - plump dumplings with a yoghurt sauce and lentils. The lamb skewers were so tender I barely had to chew and tasted great. Nice soft pita bread, some salad and a couple of dipping sauces and it was a great lunch.
Really delicious food. Have been here twice now and both times the food has been fresh and delicious. Definitely keen to try more of the menu but the lamb kebabs are hard to go past.
Small casual dining area but good food. The chicken briyani and lamb kebabs r really well cooked. Reasonable price with huge portions. Thumbs up!
My first time trying the Afghan food and this is and excellent restaurant next to my hotel. The chicken skewers kebab taste smoky and savory, it lives up to its name. Definitely recommended for those want to try Afghan delicacy.
Outstanding quality and value. The mixed kebab platter, falafels and dumplings were very tasty. Good portion sizes for the price and prompt, friendly service. Recommended for anyone who enjoys the tastes of the middle east and those on a budget.
Had the half charcoal barbequed chicken and rice for 13 AUD. Generous portion and food seems really authentic. Decoration and service is a bit underwhelming though.
Everything was booked to precision. Arrival into Adelaide at 9:05pm, taxi to the hotel, then dinner at Delicatessen 10pm. A few days earlier I received an email asking if I could change the booking to 7:30 or 8pm as "it is busy earlier" but obviously couldn't. Then Qantas delayed the flight and arrival at dinner wasn't going to be before about 1030pm. I called up and they said it would be fine, then received a call back a few minutes later saying it was too quiet and they wouldn't stay open for me. DIsappointment.
I am quite fond of lamb, especially if it's prepared properly. While waiting for an appointment, my Australian host and I decided to check out this restaurant that serves Afghan cuisine. Upon entering, a customer who was on his way out gave us a thumbs-up sign and simply remarked "wonderful". After savoring their Grilled Lamb Kebab and Curried Chicken (both with buttered long-grain rice and a side salad), I can see why it was. Definitely a go-to place in downtown Adelaide for the adventurous foodie! ❤️
