Review Bliss Organic Cafe - Adelaide

Glenn Mackenzie
Great place for a healthy dinner lunch & breakfast Every one is catered for vegan , gluten free options and low carb. The atmosphere is relaxing, check the outside area out back. All the food is vegan and organic I had the bliss burger which was very tasty, all the meals are good size servings fresh and healthy. Staff are friendly and helpfull. Great range of drinks smoothies and deserts . Close to the central market . No dairy option for coffee , but its vegan . so that's fine. ( closed Sundays)

Outstanding food, drink and atmosphere! Go out of your way to get to Bliss (I was travelling through and it's easy and central). Rivals best of Melbourne, costs a few $ more for premium organic vegan ingredients, and worth every cent. My non-veg companion was equally delighted with the food. And Steven below, if vegans could complain about the amount of times nasty animal products were in our food, even when advertised veg... and for the record: the coffee is fairtrade and great (I'm a coffee snob too).

This is the best Vegan Café in Adelaide - food is absolutely fantastic, I have never had a bad meal here, the staff are absolutely amazing and friendly and the vibe of the place is second to none. Nothing better than sitting outside on a warm sunny day in the courtyard with a Latte and a piece of Raw Cake. Absolute Bliss :) Now they have the Wellness Centre upstairs which is truly going to be amazing. It really will be a one stop shop for health, happiness, peace and wellbeing. Just what Adelaide needs!!!!

Honestly, this place is in general great vibe with bohemian decor and good vegan selections. I really tried to like it, it all seems like they do it right with presentation but I am not impressed with their drinks or food. It all tastes average. Matcha and chai are my favs when it comes to tea and each time the flavor was bland. Being vegan, the love isn't there. The quality could be better.

Great place to visit, a little off out of the way but it adds to the charm. The food is amazing, great outside garden too. Well worth making an effort. A must for any vegan or vegetarian.

A pretty hip place with great ambience. A place that vegans would love. I had one of their burgers, was not disappointed. There is also some lovely garden seating at the back.

Really enjoyed an afternoon here -- super friendly staff, cute little garden, free and fast wifi, and great food and drinks! Big fan of their chai latte (with their own syrup which doesn't have any sugar in it)
Christine Gunn
Tasty range of vegan cakes and sweets. Delicious coffee and lovely ambience. Check out the garden, its beautiful there.

Nooooooo! I came to Adelaide especially to come to Bliss Organic Cafe as the food was always awesome and the ambience greatly refreshing. I just arrived in Adelaide again and the website said "Bliss Cafe is now closed." So I ran down here sure it was a mistake but it has been replaced by an omni place! Goodbye Bliss, you will always be my favourite escape. :-( :-( ;-(

Bliss Organic is now one of my new favourite cafes in Adelaide! I came here today and ordered the acai bowl; this is something, that if offered, I will order at every cafe I go to. I'm always on the hunt for the best acai bowl, and I have to say, of the cafes in Adelaide, Bliss Organic officially makes my favourite!

The acai bowl came with a nice variety of toppings (banana, coconut chips, buckinis, goji berries, rockmelon, and a mint for decoration). Moreover, I was given a very generous serving size, probably the largest of the ones I've ever had, and for $14, I think it was well worth it! The acai mix stayed cold for a long time, and was very filling! The balance of flavours was perfect too! I like my acai bowls on the thicker side, but still smooth and not icy, and this was exactly that! I was very pleased!

The workers here also seemed like nice people, and there is plenty of seating, indoors and outdoors. Parking is also easy, if you just park in the Chinatown carpark, where the 1st hr is free on the days Central Market is open. This also gives you a nice opportunity to explore it later too! Overall, I highly recommend trying this place! My friend also says that she loves this place, and has ordered the Bliss Burger 4 times alone!

Such tranquil relaxation on a hot day in the city. We drove into Adelaide for 1 day and loved this place. Tofu scramble was flavourful and so filling. Also had coffee and partner tried a smoothie - all yum! Really chilled courtyard you can spend hours reading or chilling.

Bliss Organic is definitely worth your attention if you are vegan, vegetarian or neither. It is so much more than a cafe and On The Chopping Board wrote a comprehensive review back in 2013, which is still very relevant and showcases what this cafe has on offer even though it changed hands about a year ago.
We went there on a Saturday afternoon. It was not overly busy but I think it may have been because both of the things I wanted (burgers and acai bowl) were sold out. This just gives me a reason to go back as what we did order was tasty, well presented and arrived quickly at our table. The dumplings were beautifully fried and stuffed full with a tasty combination of minced vegetables. The crumbled tofu was lightly spiced. The aroma of the tumeric was just perfect. We also had iced coffee and iced chocolate both made with almond milk; and while these were nothing remarkable they were refreshing on a hot day.
The outside area is like a small oasis in the city, rather like being in someone's backyard. The pergola area up the back complete with couches and cushions was a perfect place to sit away from the rest of the customers. A large shady tree completed this pleasant space. Inside there is more seating at the front of the shop and there are books, pamphlets and magazines to browse while you are there as well as a well stocked shop offering a range of vegan products.
Parking when we were there was no problem as there were plenty of spaces on the street for which you do not have to pay after midday on a Saturday. However, this could be different during the week or earlier in the day when ticketed parking could apply. There are a few large Wilson car parks around so it should be possible to find a spot.
Summary: Friendly service from two young women who clearly loved what they do; food was fresh and well presented, with generous serving sizes. A little pricey but the meal sizes make up for this. Worth a try? Absolutely! This little place definitely caters for vegans and vegetarians but even non-vegans are likely to enjoy the menu choices. I will be back to try the acai bowl soon.

Finding things to eat on an auto immune diet can be really hard so I'm glad we discovered this little place. They have dairy free, gluten free and vegan options to cater to a lot of needs. The service is really friendly and serving size generous. Fantastic place for breakfast or brunch. I haven't tried the lunch menu yet but on the to do list. Definitely try this out for a healthy and organic type of alternative.

Awesome! Came here for at 12 meaning we got to choose between both breakfast and lunch menus. Pretty much everything looked great but we went with the burgers which were very generously sized and delicious. The wedges were also great and again well sized. The smoothies and juices were excellent and the coffee was good as well. Finally, the staff were really nice and very helpful. Definitely recommended!

Rough chai latte which was served warm to cool. Ruined my saturday morning.

Overpriced but service was friendly enough. Check the kettle next time. 😢

Amazing good. So many options for vegans. A little pricey, but the quality of food and ambience of the place is fantastic. You'll come back again for sure.

My boyfriend and I both ordered the same thing for our lunch, mine was a wrap version and his was the burger option. There is two veggie burgers and two veggie wraps on the menu and they gave us the other option to what we actually ordered. The patties weren't overly flavoursome, I've had better.I do plan to return to Bliss as I have heard nothing but good things about them, I'll probably just order something else. The cafe itself is beautiful and there is outdoor seating available. And the menu does sound delicious so I do look forward to my next visit and I'm hoping we just had bad luck.
A Bite Of Adelaide
amazing wide selection of vegan friendly, gluten free and sugar free foods - which taste great. large variety of milks and teas. beautiful outdoor area to sit and enjoy brunch with exquisite service

Loved the atmosphere here and the food is excellent! great prices too! I had the Bliss Burger and the organic iced chocolate and they were both delicious. Service could be a little more friendlier but other than that I would give this place a four out of five! I thought they were going to take a long time to bring the food out given that it was pretty busy but they had our meals out quick smart! my mum had the "It's not a pizza" I think it was called and she loved it. Will definitely be coming back next time that I am in the city!

・・・
BLISS ORGANIC CAFE:
This funky vegan cafe located off gouger street has been on my radar for a while now and finally I discovered why it's been raved about by others. Serving up vegan foods that are far from bland, Bliss Organic Cafe provides the perfect atmosphere and food for a hot Saturday morning. I opted for the Blissful Toast, Turkish pilé topped with avocado and tomato and my companion had the same but with mushrooms. Both were delicious. The avocado was luscious and was sprinkled with herbs that gave an extra hit of flavour. Also note the long list of juices and smoothies on the menu. Would recommend the wu-tang juice which was apparently 'the best juice' ever tasted by my companion. Overall an enjoyable experience that left me satisfied and eager to return.
Rating: 8/10

There's truly something for everyone in Adelaide, vegans, vegetarians, healthy fitness people. I like the idea of using organic and local produce. There are more and more of these hipsters cafe popping up everywhere and there is definitely a market out there. This is one cafe that was there before the trend exploded.
Healthy Mum
Went here on a Wednesday for lunch with my 4 year old son. The service was amazing, the food was even more amazing! Never seen my son eat so much. Highly recommend the dumplings. A beautiful garden setting out the back. Lovely clean bathrooms. Will definitely come here again.
Sahar&Aurelio
This place has beautiful raw and healthy food leaving you feeling clean, satisfied and healthy when you leave! I loved the bliss burger, definitely recommend ordering that one! it's very very filling and a much better healthier alternative than a regular meat burger.

Bliss Organic Garden Cafe is a vegetarian and vegan cafe located a short walk from Adelaide’s busy Central Markets.

Bliss used to be so good but, since the change in ownership, it has gone down-hill. The curry and soup were both really bland. I hope things pick back up as it's such a lovely place.
Hello
Delicious vegan pancakes. Raw dessert bar (hello salted caramel!) and attentive staff. The secret garden out the back is this place's hidden gem. Grab a blanket (provided) for your knees and sit under the canopy of leaves.

Catering. I chose Bliss to cater my birthday party. I had a quinoa salad and garden salad, Bliss wraps, Falafel Wraps, Bliss Burger Bites, Middle Eastern Platter, Pastries-Mediterranean Roast Veg, Fruit Platter with nuts and cheese and an Apple and Cinnamon cake. Everything was delicious. The Mediterranean Roast Veg pastries were especially delicious. All my guests enjoyed the food.

Nice work, Bliss :) - Jayne

Blissless. I understand there is new management of recent months. Please listen to your devout customers. I wondered if it were my tastebuds, but on reading other reviews, I am resigned to agree with their tastebuds.
The Menu provided in Feb2015 was touting Winter 2014....time to change that.
The dishes we ordered missed a few of the ingredients which most likely would have added texture to the experience, and some spices and herbs would have definitely benefited the chickpea wrap.
The most disappointing aspect of my initial very friendly welcome, was when I went in "quietly" to complain about the unflavoursome food, and asked for some more condiment for the wrap, I was advised it would be an extra $1.50 - wrong wrong wrong on many levels. I expressed my query in asking that it should be in the wrap and pointed it out as ingredients in the menu. Unfortunately, I was still advised I had to pay extra. That stingy $1.50 will cost so much more now, more than the owner will ever appreciate. Take a leaf from 'Fair Espresso' Coffee, James Place.....offer to remake and just do it, and do it (within reason) to the customer's liking. So much goodwill from one small experience. Whether the customer is right or misunderstood.
The fruit juice drinks were fine.....but why are fruit juices never chilled. There's something unpleasant about room temperature juices - it can only lead me to think about other things. Add some ice, it can't hurt particularly when it is 40c.
Chickpeas do not have to be bland, vegetarian food does not have to be boring, and is not.....I look forward to watching the reviews start highlighting the flavoursome dishes are back.
Ingrid
BBQ burger terrible. Hmm so sorry to write a negative review but paid $45 for 3 BBQ burgers which had no flavour or love in them at all. Coming down from the hills, I was looking forward to a good healthy meal but was soooo disappointed!
Danielle
Had exact same experience as Emma ; I have a sneaking suspicion they didn't bother making the bliss burgers & Falafels as it wasn't that busy to sell out and just wanted to push the gross BBQ burger - not all vegans eat fake meat ! disappointing food
Emma
Walked out. My dad booked a table for 4 at 12.45 today looking to impress me and my partner with some great Adelaide cuisine (we live in Sydney). Initially, the lady who sat us suggested we sit at a table for 2 which was wedged up against the wall and then put us at a share table which wasn't made up. That's cool, we're pretty easy going, don't need a table cloth. I overheard the chef tell one of the waitstaff that the curry was finished and told my family as such. The lady who sat us just told us to order at the counter. So we made a pretty quick decision and dad and my partner went up to order. Came back to tell us that all 4 meals we'd wanted had sold out and that we could have the bbq burger off the specials menu if we liked. No bliss burger, no bliss wrap, no falafel burger. So we walked. What made me really angry (doesn't happen often) was that all the lady needed to do when she seated us was to tell us that there was no curry, no bliss burgers, wraps etc, no falafel burgers, wraps etc. And whatever else they'd run out of. Really disappointing. Won't be back.

New owner? Very disappointed!. They close the kitchen at 3pm, so my mum and I came into the cafe at around 2:15 for lunch. After rushing to the cafe all the way from North Adelaide, catching 2 buses and a tram, we were told they can't make us any food because they were quiet and had closed the kitchen. The night before we had spent over $100 Friday night for dinner and loved the food. So, to find they wouldn't make us anything when the kitchen was meant to be open was greatly disappointing! I will give them the credit that they have great food! But I would never turn back a loyal customer some food, especially if the kitchen should be open. Would have eaten here more if they had just made my mum and I some food. I hope they keep to their word next time to please their customers, rather than upset anyone. This cafe could be amazing if they do! They lost a customer and I won't be returning.

Bliss Wrap. 16 dollars for this mess! It's called a wrap not a fold over!!!

Went to bliss for a nice take away organic coffee....
What a disappointment!
Waited half an hour for a burnt, awful coffee... It took that long because she forgot about my coffee order, which is ok. But offer something for the wait or at least give a sincere apology!
No need to say it... But I'm never going back!

I ordered a large pot of hot apple tea and to my surprise the cost was $14!! It is an outrage to charge that much for some hot water and tea?? Also don't order the wedges.. About half of mine were rotten and black. Disappointed..

I didn't really get the "hippy" vibe other reviewers have spoken of. There probably could have been a few more dreadlocks for my liking, in fact. And no one smelled funny either, which was a bit of a let down. The service was friendly and kind. The falafel burger looked fine & tasted scrumptious. It was a little crumbly, so had to use a knife & fork. The decor was alright - nothing
amazing. Some of the artwork wasn't good. Lots of different vego things to buy, which is handy. The cakes were awesome. Atmosphere lovely & relaxed. Parking - not so easy. The toy box was a nice touch.

Ho hum. Had the chef's special of tofu scramble. There were barely any vegetables mixed through it so was basically a bowl of tofu in curry powder. A very dry dish.
Zoe L
Bliss burger was bliss!! I want another right now, will definitely return.
Hungry In Hawthorn
Ate lunch here recently. Raw Power salad was massive and could have been shared. Lots of interesting bits and pieces in there. My friend had a tofu burger and enjoyed it. Great vibe and courtyard out the back to sit.
Master Diner
10 out of 10! Full of flavor and an enormous amount of food on the plate. We absolutely loved our quiche and risotto balls. Serve was great. Great people, great food and great relaxed atmosphere in the garden. Thank you Bliss Cafe. We will be back.

Gone down hill. Went here yesterday with my vegan wife. We have been many times before but today the food was awful. We ordered two salads, each costing $17 and they came out as lettuce covered in coconut oil with a few shreds of carrot and cabbage. We sent both back to the kitchen uneaten because the were that bad! A vegan needs a good salad and bliss just aren't delivering anymore. Which is sad.... I note that the cafe is up for sale and maybe this has something to do with the downward spiral of food quality. We won't be going back....

Great fresh food. Nice cafe with laid back atmosphere and friendly service. The wake up juice and Chai Tea were both excellent, and the Raw Salad and Bliss burger were fresh and tasty. Would recommend to both vegans and non-vegans for healthy, delicious food :)
Coffee Anon
Great coffee. Best tasting coffee in Adelaide in my opinion (Especially since it's Fairtrade and made with ethical milk). And a great place to relax, meet up for a date, or read a book. The vegan curries etc are filling, cheap and flavoursome and the baked goodies are delicious too.

Bliss is something special.
Service is wonderful, everyone is nice and friendly.
Atmosphere great, you can tell it's run by kind, conscious people who are not only enthusiastic about the food they serve, but their impact on the world.
The food is incredible probably never tasted something so delicious. we had the baked beans, the zucchini pasta and the avocado on beetroot and buckwheat cakes. Every single part of the meals was scrumptious. Not only that but healthy!
Highly recommend having a juice while you are there, sitting in the back area if the weather permits and browsing the literature they have available.

I promise even if you aren't a vegan or a vegetarian you will still love this place.

Service-8/10
Atmosphere 8/10 (only because seats aren't very comfortable)
Food 10/10

They were rather rude to my non-vegan partner but the food is good.. I like that I can order anything off the menu and know its safe to eat as a vegan :)

The ever-changing menu board is a nice touch

Bliss not so blissful. I have eaten a number of times at Bliss. I wanted to like it, but I have to say it – there’s a palpable ‘arrogant-vegan ’ pretentious vibe to the place. Having said that, the food tastes and looks good BUT I think there are some real issues in their kitchen and food preparation (*******this part of my review was censored by the moderator, can't think why, it's all true, so I've had to repost). On the service side, they are in my view, not very friendly and leave a lot to be desired. If you don’t happen to be rocking the ‘hippy-vegan-dreadlocked’ look – good luck with getting pleasant and friendly service. It’s on the very expensive side too for what you get.

Unguilty Pleasure. I finally had an opportunity to visit Bliss today and am very glad I did! Opted for the falafel wrap and a "wake me up" juice, which consisted of organic carrot, apple, lemon & ginger. The wrap was so tasty and filling; their homemade patty really hit the spot. Much to my surprise, I could not manage to polish it all off. The selection of desserts looked swell and I was so tempted to purchase a vegan donut, but unfortunately my eyes are bigger than my stomach and I didn't want to spoil such a lovely lunch. There is always next time...

My sanctuary. Well reading through the reviews I find it shocking that a few people have found the service and prices to be dissappointing.
I'm now a regular at bliss, my first experience was phenomenal.
Sure, the prices appear scary, but when taking into factor that all produce is organic, fair trade and overall ethically produced, with all the food made from scratch, and a family owned business, I think it's more than appropiate.

The very first item I had was the maca cake. As a new vegan I was like a deer in headlights, and the service was phenomenal. I was welcomed by the owner, who not only helped me choose what to try as I was feeling like dessert but hadn't heard of maca let alone raw cakes but sat down with me to explain what maca was, have a chat about how I came to be at bliss, and what I do with myself.

I walked out with a big smile on my face, the food impeccable, I felt welcome, and had sat outside in the courtyeard which is a garden out the back, like a little escape from reality with little to no traffic being heard even though the cafe is located just down an alleyway from the hectic gouger street.

My first meal was the malai kofta, again as a student I also initally thought the prices were hefty, but I tell you what, by the time I finished I told the staff personally it was worth every penny. An organic, ethically produced, tasty meal that for once in my life was a decent portion size, by that point I realised I was hooked.

On some occasions I have found that yes, service can be a little poor,
however when taken into account that this is a small business swelling with large amounts of people, being served by people who work long hours to provide tasty ethical food, it can be forgiven. As a regular I find the average of the service to be perfectly adequate, I'm welcomed with open arms and smiles, which is one of many reasons why I keep coming back.

My meat loving mother came to try out bliss, and she walked out with a big smile on her face and I tell you what, this is a woman who is hard to impress when it comes to her food.

So if you had a dissapointing experience, perhaps give it a second chance, and speak to one of the staff if you have the same issues,
if you haven't been, go, because I know I haven't regretted it.

Far too much turmeric in the vegan scrambled eggs. I have never had a spicy sensation from turmeric before. Mouth is buzzing. We ordered different things, but they came to the table looking pretty much the same. Nice courtyard.
Andrew
Made the mistake of coming here to try the place out and see what they had to offer but quickly learnt that that this is not a place for non-vegans. waited far too long for our food to be ordered. Also noticed that the staff tend to take orders for food irrespective of whether or not any tables are actually free.

Gamble Paid Off. Visiting Adelaide and had to find a place to take a Californian craving a healthy salad. Bliss hit the spot. Our American friend absolutely loved it. My partner had the burger and I had lentil curry, both of which were delicious.
The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We sat outside in the back yard on a beautiful afternoon.
It did seem on the expensive side, but overall I couldn't fault any of the food we ate.
Omyeah
Expensive but so tasty and healthy. Makes my day everytime! Love bliss.
Sheena
I love this place! The food.... I love this place!
The food is spectacular and everyone I've taken here has found something they think is delicious. They recently started making brownies which are some of the best I've ever had.
The staff are always friendly and helpful, but sometimes get confused about who ordered what and mix tables up.
This is one of my fav places to eat on Adelaide.
Bella81
Been here many times, always had great food, service however can be a little unpredictable. May be a good idea to update decor, looks a bit tired, little expensive but I do like the food a lot.
Tessada87
YUMMMMMMMMM. I researched Cafes/Restaurants before my week holiday to Adelaide and Bliss made my list. I'm so glad it did! Love the cute little cafe/shop. The service was great. I ordered the bliss pancakes, fruit loaf & banana milkshake. All delicious but the banana pancakes were just to die for! I desperately want their recipe!! Just amazing. I bought some agave syrup from their organic shop on the way out and also a chocolate vegan donut. Oh wow - it was just sensational! Thanks Bliss - i wish you were in Victoria!!!

Not such Bliss. Not sure if Vegan = arrogance and please don't give 'feedback' - it's not really appreciated - people all I will say is beware of the costs and the costings, it's expensive - 2 breakfasts and coffee = $38. Also be aware of what you are ordering and clarify if doubtful cause it ain't always what you get or what you thought. We are certainly not ignorant diners but after feedback given were made to feel like that - not recommended and not going back.
Marcelo O
Not a vegan, vegetarian or any type of "an"...just a foodie :) Dined here under a recommendation and went back twice as the food was that good.
Had the Teecino "coffee" and a raw food cake (noth very yummy). Then next day had the Bliss Burger and loved it too. Great food, friendly service and nice atmosphere = great dining experience.
Wasklywabbit
Organic = megabucks and IMO this cafe survives on the niche market they service (although I have to say the overpriced portions are very fresh). My impression the 3 times I've been here is that the 'cult of vegan' is incredibly strong in this place- kinda feels like "are you vegan and therefore worthy of being served in this sanctuary?"
Ruby
Amazing! The staff are so friendly, I went in the other day for some coconut oil and the waitress gave me a canvas bag for free! Little things like that keep me coming back! I had the most amazing raw power salad and left feeling so happy and satisfied. The raw burrito is also incredible, only restaurant in Adelaide that caters for people on raw food diets! Highly recommend. Lotta bang for your buck too, huge portions!
Onegreedygirl
Yummy, healthy, fresh...just a little bland. This place is what you'd expect from a vego cafe - fresh, healthy and somewhat creative food but some of it lacks flavour/interest.

Some things are great (the falafel I think it was?) and some are a bit lacklustre (the quinoa & chickpea salad was BLAND as)

But overall a good place for vegos. Your meat eating friends may not be so impressed.
Leah
I love this place! It has a great relaxed home style feel. The food is great for gluten free people AND I don't have to worry My food is being 'accidentally' cooked in dairy!!!!! I love the option to have rice milk! I love the freshness the flavours! It's my favorite place EVER!!
Dallas Carangi
First time at breakfast - Tasty scramble!. A regular patron at Bliss, but my first time at sampling the breakfast. Not a fan of the fake bacon, but the tofu scramble is divine!!! Then pigged out on the cakes - we couldn't get enough of the vegan cream.... blissful.
Jess Collins-Roe
LOVE IT!. I've been to Bliss a few times and I love the place. My non-Veggo friends are not keen at all, but if it is your kind of thing or are open minded to veggo/vegan food then you will like it too!
They catter for almost everything (veggo, vegan, diary free, gluten free act). Great place to chill and have a coffee or smoothy or stop for a bite to eat.
Overall, a great place to go!
Kathryn Hillier
I really wanted to like Bliss Organic Cafe - its vegan and organic, however I feel that the food is overpriced and the service leaves a lot to be desired. I've eaten my way round some of the best US vegan organic restaurants and Bliss looks and feels like a hippy commune in comparison but with fine dining prices! It's certainly not an affordable meal anymore which means we won't be visiting very often
Genna Evie
Great atmosphere. I'd wanted to head to Bliss for ages and glad I finally did, the courtyard out the back is great to sit in, there's even a table set in a little bungalow but you have to be quick to reserve it.
My vegan friend said it's such a relief not to have to pester staff with questions about what is in the food as everything there is animal product free.
I had the bliss wrap but in a salad instead. The patties were flavoursome, made with mainly kidney bean, lentil and almonds and was filling but delicious! I think next time i'd get it as a wrap or burger as you pay an extra $2 for it salad style but you seem to get less value. The scrambled tofu is a specialty and rightly so, a good range of textures and flavour, who needs eggs! Apparently the donuts were incredible and even vegan-cynics were impressed.
It's great just to know that you're eating cruelty-free, local, organic, healthy food that is good for you which you can enjoy without compromising the rest of the planet.

In a category of its own. I have eaten here countless times, breakfast, lunch, dinner, takeaway tea and sweet, and the Bliss team have yet to disappoint me. The falafels, Bliss pattie, and raw salad are particularly memorable, but we've had some fantastic curries, and the winner for me here is Grace's raw cakes -- lime and spirulina has to be my favourite! Catering for ethical and adventurous palates, Bliss Organic cafe is a unique experience in a perfect location. I just love it...

Bliss catered for an event I hosted earlier this year. The sandwiches and cupcakes were remarkably delicious - and many non-vegan/non-vegetarian friends were shocked that vegan food could taste so good! The staff are a little absent-minded, and we ended up being charged more than we were originally quoted. However, I was very impressed by the quality of the food. Yum!
Eva
Wonderful place and people. The place is lovely, the owners genuine vegans and it brings me back to the 70s when you had those alternative places where staff wasn't trained but really easy going and friendly once they got to you...:) The back yard is blissfully calm, being in the middle of the city. Food is mostly really good however, I often miss the kind of 'not everyday' food I couldn't cook. I feel their chai and coffee are rather watery and just don't know why I can't get a good chai latte there as in other places around the market...But I love the atmosphere there and recommend you give it a go!

Unfortunate experience. I had been wanting to go to Bliss Organic Cafe for a long time, but was never in the area with someone willing to forego dairy in their coffee. One day I lucked out and two of my friends were keen on the idea. When I ordered three flat whites, the barista asked me "Do you know where you are?" Thinking he meant where we were seated, I said something about sitting on the couches, to which he replied "No, like, this is a VEGAN cafe." His tone of voice momentarily stunned me, and I told him that I knew that. Then he schooled me further by saying "So we only have SOY MILK."
I thought I was in the only cafe in Adelaide where I wouldn't have to ask for a "soy flat white". I understand people may wander in without realising the cafe was vegan, but a friendly "We only have soy milk, is that okay?" would have sufficed. It's a shame really, because I enjoyed the space and the coffee was really nice. Unfortunately the bad service has put me off returning.

First time for everything. Bliss has a very comfy, rustic feel to it. You could easily hang out here for a while. I am a carnivore that sways to vegetarianism on occasions but rarely venture into vegan territory. I was intrigued by the scrambled tofu so decided to give it a go. It came out looking like scrambled eggs and had a similar texture so I guess if you're a vegan it's as close as you're going to get. They were tastier than expected. I was hoping that the side order of baked beans would be homemade however, they didn't appear to be which was a bit disappointing. The soy milk in the coffee was also a new experience. The lunch and dinner menu looks good and I'd be keen to return and try a burger or a curry.

Couldn't eat the pancakes. I've been to this place a few times with my vegan friend for lunch and had the burger which is not bad (I'll admit I'm not a vegan or even a vegetarian). However I went there for breakfast a few days ago and ordered the banana pancakes which I found inedible. They looked the part and the serve was generous. I understand they didn't use wheat flour which may have explained it but the texture was truly awful - like uncooked, gluggy paste on the inside. I ate part of one and just couldn't force down any more. Unfortunately the coffee was also very poor. I don't know if they use cows milk at all there but I ordered a flat white and wasn't asked what kind of milk I wanted but received a soy coffee. I don't usually mind coffee made with soy but this was just terrible. It was tepid and overly milky with a very strong soy flavour. I won't be going back.

The bestie and I have wanted to visit Bliss for a few months now. We've always popped in to get one of their choc fudge brownies to share, which are delicious, but never actually dined in. We couldn't decide where to have lunch one day so decided it would be the perfect time to try out Bliss!

A lunch date in town saw me heading to Bliss Organic Cafe , a place I had been wanting to try out for ages. This cafe is vegan and organic and also stocks a range of vegan and organic retail products. First impression on decor/vibe was that it was a lovely cafe, the staff were really friendly and sitting in the sunny courtyard was divine. Bliss offer a breakfast/lunch menu and open for dinner on Fridays. To start with I ordered a green juice, a combination of organic leafy greens with seasonal fruit. I don't normally drink a lot of juice but this one was delicious, it was freshly made and not to sweet nor 'vegetably' and was a really decent serving size. My co-diner ordered a drink called the bliss bomb which was a layered drink of espresso, chocolate, milk & rice malt , it was a really interesting drink... I tried a small sip (I'm really not a coffee fan) and it had a good balance of chocolate and coffee flavors. I do have a soft spot for vegan cafe's like Bliss as they often off

If there was an eating out handbook supplied to every new vegan in Adelaide, this place would be on the front page. Almost everyone I speak to who asks me about my veganism let's me know about Bliss Organic Cafe like it's their little secret - and I love it. I visit Bliss almost every week to shop for vegan ingredients to cook with and I normally leave with a delicious vegan treat from the cake cabinet. The best thing about Bliss is that everything is cruelty free, it's like a safe house for vegans. Bliss stocks a huge range of vegan products; custard powder, numerous types of chocolate, books, makeup, pet food, cheese, ice cream, wallets, belts and so much more. There's also free wifi (ask for the passcode) and there's a plethora of awards hanging on the walls from FoodandLifestyle.com.au, The Adelaide Magazine and The Messenger.

...we visited one of the icons of the vegetarian/vegan food scene, Bliss Organic Cafe. Hopes were indeed very high as if anyone was going to get a vege burger right, surely somewhere like this would be it. Like a little oasis in the hubub of the cbd, Bliss serenely wraps you in it’s welcoming arms and hides you away from the rest of the world. Their courtyard is a wonderfully disconnected mix of mismatched tables, chairs, cutlery and uneven concrete all under a beautiful old tree of some genus (I have no idea about trees and not about to start caring). It is rimmed by various ferns and other plants (see the note regards trees), and it really does just make you feel like you are in a different place entirely. And this is just the outside – inside there are more quirks to both marvel at and also to endear the new guest to this place. There is a small library from which you can borrow from, there is information on a variety of dif

My pancakes were light and the combo of banana and the syrup was very yummy, and the spiced apple drink was warming and delicious. R’s BLT was huge, and she couldn’t finish the whole thing. I made sure I tried a bit of her ‘bacon’, it had a strong smokey flavour, but definitely wasn’t much like bacon. R also raved about the vegan iced chocolate on the menu.

In conclusion, my frist vegan cafe experience was a positive one. I shall be back for a hot apple juice, until I find where to buy my own lemon thyme. I am also tempted to try the vegan cake, which looked very appealing when it was being served to fellow customers. Everyone seemed to be ordering this beautiful cake!

Sweaty palmed and queasy I was though, when I first stepped into this quaint little cafe. Bob Marley (I think) was playing in the background while patrons with shaved heads and kaftan skirts quietly read the day’s paper while enjoying cheerfully green soup in little bowls. Shelves bulging with bottles and tubes of organic soaps and shampoos lined the walls. The main counter was a hodgepodge of covered cake stands boasting luscious looking cakes and fat muffins with random bursts of colours from postcards advertising artworks and pretty purple bottles holding drinking water.

I love the ambiance. There is a courtyard at the back of the cafe that is really nice to just sit and enjoy a cup of tea

I’ve always parked on and around the smaller streets around Gouger Street when making a pit stop to the Adelaide Central Market, getting my grub on at Wasai , spoiling myself for some yum cha or just eating or drinking around Chinatown . More often than not, I’ll walk past Bliss Organic Cafe on Compton Street and make a mental note to myself to check this place out. It took a while to get there, but finally (!), I managed to plan a quick mid week lunch date at Bliss.
