Italian Restaurant with really good traditional Italian pizza. Real thin traditional crust-just the way it's done in Italy with range of flavours. Portion sizes of pasta is really small-I wouldn't get pasta again. Great service and dinner was fantastic. Recommend this place.
Absolutely amazing Napoli style pizza using all the proper ingredients. Pizza is beautiful and highly recommend the arancini also. Staff are great too. Will definitely be back!
Visited on our trip to Adelaide from Melbourne after experiencing A LOT of disappointing pizza on our holiday so far. Was so impressed with the pizza Etica and only disappointed that we didn’t find it sooner, we would have come here to eat every night. Food was exceptional and service was absolutely amazing. I've spent a lot of time in Naples and eaten a hell of a lot of authentic pizza. Etica is the place to go if you want something similar. I stumbled upon this place one night and we were welcomed in, drenched from the rain.
We were offered a place viewing the kitchen and were poured some great wine. If Dominos is what you consider pizza, you'll be in for a shock. But, for everyone else, the experience will be great.
Busy little place tucked away in a quiet street. Because they don't take reservations we had to wait for a table when we rocked up- although this is a good sign of awesome food. Ended up getting take away pizza which was delicious, but will be back!
Food; I like the concept of this pizza bar, pizza by the slice (or more like weight) and cooked up within 5 mins from order. I've had about 3 visits over about 6 mths, this time with a margarita pizza. The ingredients are fresh and I like the dough. Though to be picky my personal preference is for thinner bases.
Ambience; it's pretty chic inside, having been designed by architects. Jazz music is tuned up, it's like a bar. I like the playlist, with a bit of GoGo Penguin.
Service; very consistent, all 3 visits very fast, friendly, welcoming. The strong passion they have for their business really comes across.
There are many pizza joints but none like this . It's very unique, it's a winner.
Amazing ambience and the best tasting authentic pizza i’ve had since.... forever. The pizza base sauce tasted exactly like nonnas🙌 Definitely will be coming back to try the risotto.
I could not fault Etica at all. The food, the service and the ethos are 11/10. Local friends took my partner and I there while visiting from Melbourne a few months ago. Those friends return again and again and I will too. This restaurant and experience is world-class, in sleepy Adelaide (sleepy if you're not looking in the right places). The grief this restaurant is currently receiving for attempting to evoke discourse and engage the community in a conversation that needs to be had has spurred me to finally write this review.

My Adelaide pizza crawl has lead me to this little pizza bar down Gilles street. My favourite thing; the name! Etica, in Italian, means "ethical"! All produce used here is from ethical and sustainable sources. 👍
I sat down at my table and smells of fresh dough and soft cheese melting in the wood fired oven entered my nose! I was excited.
Pizza at Etica is traditional and tasty. Your mouth will find itself chewing through soft and mouth watering dough and simple but delicious toppings including three cheese, Margherita and porchetta. What more can i say but this place is simple and effective!

Such a wonderful vibe in this restaurant, and wonderful service! My boyfriend and I went on a Friday night, it was bustling, we had amazing service and the food was delicious! As vegans, a great pizza is difficult to come by, but this definitely served well above our expectations! The kale salad also tasted just like my Nonna's, so it gets a big tick from me! Can't wait to go back again!
Etica largely gets my rating of 4 stars due to its delightful pizza (if you like this style; I realise that you need to be in an "authentic Napoli-pizza style" mood to enjoy this, as sometimes you feel like an American style or even Greek style pizza). Awesome chewy (in a good way) freshly made base and frugal but yummy toppings. That was the good part; I'll get to the bad.
We sat outside which is charming and cozy despite being a somewhat industrial courtyard otherwise. The service was efficient if somewhat uptight.
There was something lacking for me here. I think it was partly the arrogant try-hard air of the place which also drew some overly try-hard hipster clientele. The waiter staff all looked irritable (could have been circumstantial to be fair) and tense. But it was more than that; the high prices and slightly snooty feel belied the otherwise simple and fresh potential. It didn't feel light and friendly there; it felt dour and aloof.
Anyway, good pizza.
Pizza was authentic and delicious. Service was great. Atmosphere was pleasant and romantic. If your a bloke, it's the perfect place to take your missus, she'll love it. Didn't like lining up but that's how it is and was worth it in the end. Also it's a little hard to find. Will definitely go there again!
I love absolutely everything about this place! I hadn't been for a while but was so happy to see it still has the same cosy and welcoming vibe, and beautiful food and drinks. I also love the fact that they actually care about where the produce comes from here. This place must be run by people who are passionate about their trade, because it really shines through in everything they do.
the margherita pizza is amazingggg. authentic italian wood oven pizza the way it has always been and always should be. crust x base = delicious! would have loved to try the misto plate but they were "running low" on it.
downside is the rocket/kohlrabi salad is incredibly rockety without much acidic components to cut through the strong aftertaste.
minimalist menu. straightforward food and service. only takes reservations for the 6pm seating. beyond that is on a walk-in basis, where you write your name down on a sheet of paper provided. and wait until a table frees up.

As a true friend and member of the Vera Pizza Napoletana club: 'the esclusive club dedicated to the supporters of "true Neapolitan pizza"' I strive to decipher pizza friends from foes. Etica appears to be a friend and the best pizza I've consumed thus far in Adelaide (but tbh that's not a very hard mantle to win. If you think there's better pls enlighten me I'd like to try). The authenticism and base does it for me. Thin based but not crisp liked those modern faux pizzas, but thin and full of soul with thick, doughy crusts that hold flavour, cooked by it's aesthetically pleasing mosiac-tiled pizza oven. We had the margherita extra which was simply amazing (and I don't even really like margherita) and that mozarella hit the spot. The next with pork + fennel sausage and mushrooms was good but lacked that extra flavour oomph (most pizzas mid $20s). Misto plate entree = extremely fresh and colorful but on the more conservative serving size. I commend their use of purely ethical ingredients and the off-beat, nature interior is fun. We experienced friendly and prime service at this outing but likely because we arrived at 5.30 on the dot, beating the rush as another time we arrived at prime dinner time, waited in a literal line out the door for 15 mins, had no acknowledgement of how long we would be waiting or a wait list we could enter so just left. A testament to their fantastic pizzas but a system for waiting would be nice or people will just leave.
Fresh tasty and great service. Certainly ate my worth in quality cheese. Favourite salad rocket strawberry and goats cheese salad accompanied the pizzas well.
Had lunch here on Friday and it was amazing! Great antipasto plate, incredible peppery buttery gnocchi which must have been hand made that day and then an awesome pizza, accompanied by a lovely glass of Fiano. Quick, friendly service and authentic and tasty food, I could not recommend highly enough!
Etica never fails to leave us full and satisfied! Etica is a lovely little authentic Italian restaurant. We have been here many times and every time I am impressed! The weekly changing menu consists of beautiful fresh antipasto, incredible home made authentic Italian pasta and lovely home style wood oven pizza that you even pull apart just like in Italy! Amazing fast service with good conversation. Lovely wines and home made chinotto and limonata. Highly recommended to all!
This is my second visit to Etica. The first was for a family birthday. The second was with a group of six.
The food is absolutely divine and the setting is beautiful. Ambience is excellent, tonight they had live Jazz.
Service was knowledgeable and friendly however I have taken off some points for the feeling of being rushed.
It took about 30 minutes for our order to be taken (we had to get up and ask the waiter if we could order), then our plates were cleared as soon as the waiter assumed we were done.
Food being taken away before being finished and without asking is not ok, dessert menu was not presented until we asked and the bill was brought to us while we were thinking about dessert.
It's hard to give a lower end score to such a beautiful restaurant with amazing food and I understand it's a busy place with people lining up at the door but rushing your guests/customers is not okay.
My favourite restaurant in Adelaide. The food is authentic & delicious - there is no pizza like it in the state. As much as I enjoy our home grown grapes, I love trying new Italian wine. Each time I arrive I am greeted as if it were their family home. Highly recommend and strongly supported.

Those that know me know that I am a pizza fiend. I am especially passionate about traditional Neapolitan pizza. I once travelled to Napoli purely just to eat pizza. I was there for half a day and ate four of the best pizzas on offer. Etica is certainly the most traditional and, in my opinion, probably the best pizza in Adelaide.
Food:
Etica are the only restaurant in SA that have been certified by the 'Associazione Verce Pizza Napoletana' so you know that it's legit. And you can definitely taste it. The dough is tasty, soft in the middle with a crisp crust. The san marzano tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella melt and combine perfectly in the middle to form that delicious soupy cheesy sauce that dreams are made of. But they also offer some great salads that go so well with pizza. Everything they serve here is quality. If you're one of those people that like plebby suburban Australian pizza bar style pizzas with thick bases and covered in toppings (don't worry, I have a soft spot for them too) then maybe don't go here.
Service:
The owners Federico and Melissa are passionate and friendly people. They will look after you, but they are especially kind to their regular customers - which I find endearing. They are always flat out though, so don't go in there expecting a rushed meal, it's a night out.
Ambience:
The place is always warm and cosy thanks to the gorgeous wood oven sourced straight from Italy. It's a nice tucked away little spot in a quiet part of town making it ideal for either a group of friends or a romantic dinner date.

Margherita, that's what it's all about. The Margherita Extra is the one with buffalo mozzarella, which is a must.
really authentic Italian pizzas here. very simple and tasty but I wasn't too much of a fan of the crust it was a bit too crunchy for me! appart from that I enjoyed the pizza and atmosphere.
I love Etica! It always has a short and simple menu which makes it much easier to make a choice. The service is always really friendly and efficient, and the staff know the menu well and will happily make suggestions. I have had a few pizzas here which have been far too saucy and the pizzas are very soggy, but over all I've had positive dining experiences. I love the ambience here, you could walk past Etica and miss the place, but once in the restaurant it's a lovely intimate dining experience.

Best pizza in Adelaide. The restaurant is welcoming and a great place to enjoy a meal, and the staff are brilliant too. Especially like the projector outside - great vibe. Don't change the menu, don't change the seating process, there's lots of traditional cafes around if you want that, this is great as it is!

Beautiful, chewy, traditional simple pizza. The main pizzas here are maghertias with a choice of cheese. The pizzas are simple with minimal toppings...as they should be. But still soggy in the middle. Don't come here if you want mushrooms, pineapple, bbq chicken etc.
Authentic Napoiltana Pizza the way its meant to be!. If you're looking for Peri Peri pizza and garlic bread, this place probably isn't for you. But what you will find in this hidden gem is pizza the way it's meant to be. Tasty, full of flavour using the freshest organic ingredients. The antipasto is a great way to start, the salads are great sides and the pasta house made. The Margherita Extra gets a special mention. All matched with some interesting wines, both local & imported. Love this place.
Loved the pizzas. Great pizzas, very tasty and authentic. Although we had to queue up outside for a table we were happy to wait and the food definitely turned out to be worth waiting for. It is a quirky, funky place, but we liked it and the service was good to say it was a busy Friday night.
I went to etica tonight with my friend and absolutely loved it! Everything about it from the decorations to the glasses had use reminiscing on our Nonna and Nonnos! The staff there were so beautiful! And the pizza was to die for! Defenetly going back!
Hungry beavers. The owner made us up a special anti-pasto platter that was delicious beyond belief. My fellow dining beaver claimed to not like cheese, or the other items presented to us (an affliction that was immediately remedied) the moment that sweet cream touched his beaver lips. He still claims to not like these foods, unless they come from Etica. Wahoo Yum Yums!
Easily to become a pizza favorite! After hearing my sister's and her boyfriend's month's of bragging I finally had an opportunity to dine here. Wednesday evening before a Fringe show. Just perfect. I absolutely loved the place. From the simple, reliable and delicious pizza selection, of which we had Margarita and an eggplant one, to the absolutely beautifully fresh rocket, walnut and strawberry salad (hmm yum!), the food was not to be faulted. From there the quirky but attentive, efficien, fast but still very personable service. I don't think that there is anything I didn't like about this place. I just cannot wait to come back again....and fast :) Highly recommended!!!

We were welcome on Saturday night just after 7pm by a broadly smiling Melissa, dressed in the prettiest floral top, who assured us that yes, we would make it to our 8.35pm movie on Rundle street. She told her fellow waiter who looked after us beautifully. We ordered, and relaxed whilst sipping our rose wine, and soaking in the bon enfant atmosphere + tentalising aromas.

The bad reviews are from bad people. There are two options for genuine italian pizza: 1. spend $1500, fly to Naples, buy a pizza, fly home, 2. go to Etica.
Outstanding pizza...very poor service. Let me preface this review by saying this is the best pizza I've had since my time in Napoli (reminds me of Da Michele and Di Matteo). The ingredients used are of the highest quality, ethically sourced. Simple flavours come together in ways that are sublime. Jazz trio often plays in the courtyard adding to the lovely atmosphere.
Having said that, the service can be beyond poor. I've been here several times and the serving staff can ignore you and your requests for an unreasonable period of time. Employing one more waiting staff would make a world of difference to this busy spot that doesn't take reservations.
Nevertheless, let me just say I would go through hell and back and dine with the devil himself for more of this pizza. It's easy to forget the poor service once that buffalo mozzarella, amazing tomato base and perfect thin base hits your lips.

A little bit of London in Adelaide. Went with 5 mates on Saturday night. Had to wait, but it was well worth it. Had a lovely young waiter, who gave us a deal which for $34 each was hard to beat. Fantastic pizza, great wine, gluten free pasta and funky tunes, reminded me a little of my London days and the funky little haunts you find in east London. If you like something a little different. This is a must.
Give it a go!. I don't understand why people have been so overly critical of this place! The food seems basic but the point is the fullness and deliciousness of the raw fresh organic ingredients! I will definitely be returning and would recommend others do too! you won't be disappointed! the pizza and pasta is great but the beautiful little fresh salads are fantastic also!

Pizza was amazing, loved the sauce and the little garden flowers, the whole atmosphere was chill and intimate.

Great pizza!! this is the Closest tasting pizzaa in Adelaide to that I've had in Italy!! Who cares if you have to cut it yourself, some people in Adelaide need to be a little more open minded. Great taste good fresh ingredients and cool atmosphere. The cheese platter was also a treat. Credit to the young couple that at contributed something different to the Adelaide food scene!!
Beautiful Pizza. Pizza is a diverse food. Depending on where you are from, and what you are used to, pizza could mean anything to you. Etica shows us the real meaning of pizza. The classic Napolitano style is perfected here, so with a mind (and taste) open to someting different from your average pizza, Etica is a must try!! Not to mention the mozarella and desserts, delicious!
Perfectly executed. We are definitely returning... brilliant Zbigniew pizza, nicely charred on the edges, beautiful ingredients... best rocket/pear/pinenut salad of any restaurant yet (and I've had way too many). Nice wine list, and both the montepulciano and sangiovese we tried were delicious. The banquette seating along the wall is a bit tight for big bummed girls and the tables could benefit from a few more op shop candles at night. We had the only one and I felt quite special. The additional lighting on the food really enhanced it. The service was absolutely impeccable and friendly. See you soon.

Amazing and responsible. My husband and I were looking for a great place we could go for a celebratory dinner. After a flick through the entertainment book, vatious websites and Urbanspoon, I settled on Etica, although some of the review's on Urbanspoon were somewhat 'scathing', not everything is for everyone. What got Etica over the line? Ethical treatment of animals, use of local produce, vegan options (including beer and wine) and the promise of atmosphere.
I am all about atmosphere and good food! We definitely hit the jackpot with Etica. (Tip for new players, they don't take bookings, so just rock on in and hope for the best!) we arrived about 18:45 on a Friday night and were attended to promptly. The venue is essentially a town-house that has been gutted into a restaurant style open space with the wood-oven providing the feature of the dining area.
We commenced with the vegan starter plate which comprised of marinated mushroom, capsicum, artichoke, olvies and ciabatta bread, delicious and fresh! Next stop, pizza and pasta of course, the Funghi Pizza (awesome, cheese was minimal and delicious, dough - amazing , sauce fresh and flavoursome, mushrooms - perfect) we also ordered the Pasta Ragu which was also fantastic.
We had already decided we were going to go somewhere for desert however when we paid, Frederico asked us to wait a bit longer and he would bring us something sweet (at no cost). He brought over a freshly made Baba to share - I would never usually order this... by golly, what have I been missing.
Frederico was a gorgeous waiter, attentive but not over the top, we enjoyed chatting and promised we would take the wind out of the few 'scathing' reviews and add our two bobs.
My husband and I totally loved it and will definitely be going back.

Good to great. Went for a late night bite on a Thursday night, staff were terrific - friendly and knowledgable about the menu. Didn't feel rushed at all which was great. Had some mozzarella to begin with some house made chilli, then a pizza and salad. All food had plenty of flavour and pizza was just as i'd expect. Will return often.

To the pretentious uncultured critics, understand what this pizzeria is about before you go in expecting an organic crust/dominos/pizza hut pizza. Closest experience to a pizza from Campagna in Adelaide. Much appreciated venture!

Absolutely on the mark. I've eaten at Etica a few times now and I have loved every single journey through the menu! Their food is wonderfully prepared and thought out with authenticity and flavour winning out over flashy/fancy filler. Every mouthful is delicious, juicy and allows the fine carefully selected ingredients to really shine.
The atmosphere is lively, but still casual. Staff really know what they're talking about and are well trained on the dishes, their ingredients and where it all came from, which is essential to an ethical pizzeria e mozzarella bar. I always feel as though I'm a welcomed member of the family when I dine at Etica and I am treated well by staff who genuinely care about the food they are producing.
The cheese and the pizzas are the highlights without a doubt - there's literally nothing as fresh and tasty in Adelaide and I highly recommend trying out the difference!

At last. An eatery that's open about (humane) death! Tasty, too.
Enjoyable. Pros: Lovely atmosphere, very friendly waitress, speedy service, good ingredients, rustic style pizza that was good quality and had decent flavor.
Cons: backless chairs on our table, no reservations means pot-luck getting in, somewhat limited pizza selection.
Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and will return.
Cosy. Ate last night. Despite the no bookings policy (what is it with this? It seems to just cause stress to staff when they have to disappoint people or send them to the pub til they can call them with a table) we got a table within ten minutes because there was only two of us. This place is tiny but has a good vibe. Staff not overly friendly but not rude. We had a the vegan antipasto, buffalo mozarella (divine) and a zbigniew pizza. The pizza took about 45 mins to come which I think is way too long for the size restaurant. It was good. NOt amazing and I agree it was a bit soggy but it was fine. We would return.
Truly authentic italian. I absolutely love Etica. The flavours are fresh. The food itself is very traditional and ethically sourced. They also have vegetarian and vegan options on the menu (no special requests!), including an extensive vegan wine list. The delicious flavours come from a truly passionate and knowledgable chef!! Highly recommended.

Great Food, Not-So Great Atmosphere. At first glance from the road, this place might just seem like someone's house, but this is certainly not the case. The food is simple, delicious and guilt free. It feels great not to have harmed an animal when eating here. However, while the outside is nicely set out with a herb garden and lit wich coloud light bulbs, the inside is very noisy and the lighting inside is very dim. There is also very little space, but I am pretty sure that they are going to put up a heated, sheltered area outside so people can eat out the front. While the atmosphere may not be the best, the food is fantastic,
What can I say? Best pizza in Adelaide by a mile. Great authentic Italian at its best. Definitely will return... And that I will do this weekend.
Great Spot. Great spot for a quick bite. We shared a mozzarella tasting plate which was delicious! So much Mozza goodness! So many varieties in style, flavour and texture on the one plate. My partner and I had different favourites so choosing who had the last piece of each portion was painless.
They have achieved a lot in a small space. Its small, intimate and very welcoming.
Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.

Ordered the cheese plate which was great. Perfect for sharing. Then shared the eggplant pizza and a fig salad. Both were delicious and simple. Was great to find a place that respects good ingredients and doesn't over-complicate a meal. Felt like being in Italy again. The pizza dough was to die for! Loved that the food wasn't too heavy. Didn't leave the place feeling heavy like a lot of Italian restaurants in Adelaide.

Ethical Excellence. This place exceeded all of my expectations. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and when the food arrived we could not stop eating until there was nothing left.Everything was so fresh and made more special by the staff constantly picking freshly grown herbs in around the garden where we were seated. Ethical, Organic and Amazing. I lucked across Etica when I asked my Urban Spoon app to recommend a place near home for dinner with a friend. We were very lucky to get the last seats in the house for dinner and I am so very happy we did. The vibe of the place was evident from the start and the staff were friendly and attentive...and then came the amazing food. We shared the Fusilli al Ragu and a wood oven pizza called Zbigniew. The portion sizes were perfect and the ingredients fresh and respected by the kitchen. I will definitely be back and will try and drag as many people with me to enjoy the experience as I can!
Went out to check etica, nice great vibe, friendly welcome and staff..the two owners made us feel really welcomed... the decor is fantastic...feels like you are in some authentic italian kitchen place with someone cooking you wood oven pizza.... GREAT selection of cheeses to start with...and awesome selection of pizza...(true pizza) no pretty colour it was just as it is what the freshest ingridients are...and the pizza dough to die for....great booze list too :) ....definetly recommend this place for pizza lovers and also for good cause :)
Fresh beautiful food that tastes the way food should taste. Service was good, attentive and fast. A nice location, but a little small that will regrettably become packed as more people become aware. The only criticism (small) is that the serves are a little small and a little overpriced. 8/10

Wow! What a beautiful restaurant. The food was devine! Everything was fresh, tasty and fast!!! We had the Vegan antipasti, bufalina pizza and a strawberry & cream calazone. While waiting for our meals we had the chance to read about how the produce have been sourced. The creator has obviously spent a lot of time and care selecting each and every product used on the menu. It was great to understand the restaurants passion for ethical food. Although we didn't have a pasta dish we did sneak a peak at a few coming out and they looked delicious! Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Cannot wait to come back!!

The great thing is that this place easily holds its own and impresses even those with no preconceived ideas of what the original flavours of pizza and buffalo (or bufala) mozzarella should be. The name already appealed to me before my first visit – translates to ‘ethical’...here is an extract from their website to explain further, “our priority in searching for ingredients, particularly animal products, is the ethical treatment of the animals concerned.
This pasta was like a version of pesto, but using kale instead of basil. The flavour was subtle and delightfully green, rather than being overpowering with flavour as pesto can be.

One of my favorite spots to visit for a pizza/pasta meal in Adelaide. I’ve never left disappointed no matter what I’ve ordered.
The little wine list is outstanding, the setting is dark and moody but most of all the service and hospitality is incredible. You get the feeling you are having dinner at someone’s house which is exactly what you want at an Italian restaurant.
Such a cute pizza restaurant, definitely book ahead. Pizza chef was amazing to watch and created delicious pizza. They also serve pasta dishes and starters but I only saw pizza! Priced for freshness and taste. Plenty of parking and bathrooms avaliable. It is a little hard to find so keep an eye out for the sign. Enjoy good pizza
We had a pleasant evening at Etica, with a prime position to watch the pizza maker work his magic! Friendly service and delicious food, an overall very nice time at Etica
Warning: BRING YOUR APPETITE! So full 🥴 Food is super tasty and authentic. Favourite dish has to be the pizza or the housemade beetroot pasta with pork sausage 😍❤ A great mix of flavours washed down with a nice cold Italian brew and the company of my lovely special lady.
