I was visiting Adelaide from Melbourne for a few days and was recommended by my partner to come here.
Food: 4.5/5
Ambience: 4.5/5
Decor: 4.5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Overall: The food was excellent (Combination noodles, vietnamese spring rolls and the bbq quail) and still authentic.
Staff were very efficient with everything, including making sure the waiting customers didn't have to wait too long for a seat.
Interior decor was beautiful, wooden panels made the restaurant seem cozy and cloth was laid over the tables, so you didn't have the sticky type of feeling that most asian restaurants have.
I never give 5/5 but these guys came close. The atmosphere and ambience of the place was quite good, the only thing that could've improved would have been if there were more tables/chairs in the venue (although this would've compromised the perfect amount of space we had) or some light vietnamese music in the background.
A lot of restaurants should look to this place as an example!
Since I last ate here a few months ago they have added some more Viet options and more noodle soups to the dinner menu and the results are excellent.
I had the Phnom Penh seafood noodle soup and my partner the dumpling noodle soup. Both were excellent. The broth was so home style and refined (my partner is Vietnamese Australian so tough customer). The dumplings in the dumpling soup were phenomenal...some of the best we've had.
The salt and pepper dishes (we had an entree) are also excellent and not so chock full of MSG like many places.
I would definitely ignore some of the older ratings and give this gem a try.
Soft Shell Crab. Brilliant dish
Small cosy restaurant with well done decorations- the Vietnam Kitchen is a treat. Run by a local family they try hard and succeed. We shared 4 courses and they were most delicious. Sweet and sour Aubergine, squid, soft shell crab and beef in lettuce leaves. Not to be missed and they are getting busy on week day nights - so I suggest booking.

Cracker Little Joint. Awesome Food, Awesome Service... what more can I say?!!?
Great spot for a Vietnamese/Asian lunch. I ate lunch here twice last week as I was working nearby in the city. Very nice dishes, well prepared and very well presented. Not just Vietnamese dishes, rather the menu contained a selection of Asian dishes. Service was good and they have quite a reasonable wine list. They also have a Lunch Specials list although I ordered from the full menu. Pricing is quite reasonable.
Yes, I'll eat there again and keenly recommend it to others!
Eaten here many times and never been dissatisfied. Always great food taste and texture in the dishes. Recommend it.
The waitresses are always cheerful and attentive, fast service and has that cute Asian touch.

Food very good....especially the fried eggplant which tastes completely different to what it looks like. Could do with a dipping sauce to make it extra special. Sizzling beef with pepper very tender. Enjoy.
Good food. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Try the salt and pepper squid. *****

Brilliant!. I have been here 3 times - every time it seems to get better. Simple little restaurant, but good prices and excellent food. very nice staff!
Loved this, certainly worth going to if in the area....fresh, tasty and good size portions
FANTASTIC FOOD!. This restaurant is FANTASTIC! the Lemongrass coconut chicken a favourite. Tried different dishes each time and never disapointed with flavours and portion sizes! GREAT VALUE compared to other city restaurants. The staff are helpful with ordering and service and tried the 333 beer.....goes great with the food! We were wondering where to eat when staying at the Chiefley on South Terrace and now will ONLY eat at Vietnam Kitchen!
Salt and pepper squid!. This place is such a good little find! Clean, quick, reasonably priced, each meal I have has here is tasty and when I've brought people along they are always surprised at how good it is!
Obviously the salt and pepper squid is a must try! As well as the coconut lemon grass chicken!
Love it. Nice, clean and tasty.
Authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Will come back.

A lovely dining experience. Had a birthday party at Vietnam Kitchen last night. The staff were really really lovely and set up helium balloons for the birthday when we got there! The food came quickly, was well priced, came in big serving sizes and was delicious. My favourite dish would have to be the roast pork hot pot. Would definitely dine here again!
We have be coming to Tuan Lu's Vietnam Kitchen since he opened. The quality of the food and generous portions and well priced makes this restaurant an absolute Adelaide gem. I have bought quite a few Sydney friends here who are astounded at the quality and value. Tuan is a great guy, who is passionate about serving his guests the very best Vietnamese dining experience. A small donation to the school in Tra Vinh, Vietnam that Tuan supports is always appreciated

We entered this small restaurant on a Wednesday's night and were welcomed by 2 friendly staff. A very extensive menu, plus other dishes with pictures on the wall. Don't know where to start. The servings were very generous. Salt and pepper squid is a must try, the best in Adelaide. Highly recommend.
Went here for dinner with a friend after reading reviews, great little place on the other side of the city with a lovely modern Asian decor. For entree we had spring rolls which were tasty, cold rolls which were good but nothing amazing and salt and pepper squid which were absolutely delicious!! The squid was so tender and melted in the mouth. A definite must try! For main we shared garlic prawns with veggies and sizzling beef with onion, both dishes were very tasty! In all we were very happy with the food which was all fresh and cooked to order, the service amazing, the lady serving us was very nice and friendly. Great Vietnamese food, more people should give this place a go!
We were recommended to Vietnamese Kitchen and were not disappointed. BEST salt & pepper squid I've ever had - light and fresh. Great food all round and great service. Very clean and highly recommended. We will be back. Thank you Tom Lu
A hidden Gem!. Have been to Vietnam Kitchen on many occassions now and everytime the food is sensational! Our recent experience was for a larger group of 10, celebrating a birthday. The food was fantastic! This little restaurant provided a really nice setting for an intimate evening with family, such a relaxed atmosphere and the small feel meant you didn't have to battle to hear each other which can happen in larger restaurants. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and you are always made to feel welcome.
Everyone was very impressed as always with the quality and flavour in all of the dishes. Soft Shell Crab, Vietnamese Salad, Sizzling Vietnamese Steak and the Sizzling Garlic Prawns were all fantastic.
The Quail and Salt and Pepper Prawns were stand outs for entree.
I always love coming back to Vietnam Kitchen it has fast become my favourite Asian dining in Adelaide!
Always quality food, eat here a lot and never been dissatisfied. Fresh produce, very tasty.
Fantastic rare beef noodle soup, a bit pricey than most places I've been to and not so great Vietnamese salad.

Fantastic both times I went there! Brilliant big Laksa! I tried crocodile for the first time and it was also a delight, the best part about the place it THE PRICE! deserves to be busy every night.
Wonderful!. Lovely food. Coconut and lemongrass chicken is gorgeous. Always have the soft shelled crab. Sizzling Vietnamese beef tender and spicy. Lovely restaurant, and great value for money, which is why I alerted Urbanspoon to it. Hope it doesn't get too packed!

The best salt and pepper squid in town! A hidden gem in Adelaide. We entered this small Vietnamese restaurant on a Wednesday's night and were welcomed by 2 friendly staff. A very extensive menu, plus other dishes with pictures on the wall. We didn't know where to start.
Nice and homey restaurant away from the madding crowd. We decided to try something different, away from the usual hot spots like Rundle St. As per most recent reviews in 2013, the Pepper Squid is delicious! The Crispy Beef in Plum Sauce was superb! Just enough batter to make it crispy crunchy to the bite and the meat was still tender. Not smothered in flour like most restaurants do. And the servings are very generous. One serve is good enough to share with two people. My hubby had the Laksa. It was quite tasty. We would have liked to have more spiciness in the laksa but next time we visit we'll just ask to add a couple more chillies in it. We were too stuffed, didn't have room for dessert. They are very tempting though so we will definitely visit again.
Great value, Excellent food, good portion size, enormous variety for the palate. Softshell crab, spare ribs plum sauce, chicken with coconut and lemongrass are among the highlights. Do yourself a favour. Small, intimate and away from the madding crowd!

This is now my go to viet fix in the city.
Pho here is a little bit different with other Vietnamese restaurants, but quite nice. Service always fast and friendly, Vietnamese coffee was tasty. Only once that pho served were all stick together, seems boiled maybe one hour ago. Overall it's very good.
We went there and ordered fried pork and "sour" soup (basically, it is 'sweat' and preferable by people from South-west Vietnam). Food was nice, but it is a bit expensive for student (~$AU 20.00 each for a diner).
Wonderful salt and pepper eggplant and salt and pepper soft shell crab. We return often. Excellent service, excellent food. What more could you want.
Amazing soft shell crab, crisp veg, perfect rice and mind blowing flavours, I havd been a customer for years. Well worth a go!
