I've never eaten here but I have stopped by for drinks many times & I always enjoy the relaxed (no pokies) atmosphere and the eclectic crowd this pub attracts.
Nice staff. Live music. Beer garden out the back. Close to East End cinemas & lots of eateries.
Its not a flashy pub and I appreciate that. There are plenty of drink choices and there is an open fire in the winter.
I especially like sitting at the outside tables on a warm night watching the passing parade of people on their way to nightclubs or wherever.
Is there a resident ghost? I had a strange experience once sitting at a table inside when I felt a tap on my shoulder & no-one was nearby.
The one and only pub to visit in Adelaide.
Cold beer, friendly service and great atmosphere.
Always my favourite pub to visit.
***** stars.
After so many years spent drinking here and wondering what the food would be like I have finally experienced an Exeter curry - and I was quite impressed. I don't know if it was because my expectations weren't very high (probably simply due to the appearance of the place and because I've never really seen anyone eating at the Exeter) but I really enjoyed the curry. There is something magical about having dinner and drinking Coopers' on the tables along Rundle Street on a warm summer night.
This is a pub in the classic sense of the term. Nothing overly fancy going on at all. There is a bar for ordering food and drinks, a couple of spaces inside with some tables and chairs to keep your food off the ground, and some more out the front so everyone walking past can have a look at what you are eating and drinking.
Pretty sure Adelaide was built around this pub. A great place for a beer and a chat with random people. Surprisingly great lunch options. Had the steak and it was plated better than most restaurants.
An 'institution', for lack of a more cliche word! The Exeter is one of my favourite Adelaide pubs with surprisingly good food. The tofu burger was great and a nice vegan surprise on an otherwise meat-heavy menu.
Great atmosphere, well priced drinks, lovely staff.
Great lunch joint. Great flavour and great value. It's a pub so nothing super fancy. But it is solid and the wine list does enough and is better than some.
Great value nice food. We came here with a group of 16 for dinner. Sat outside on the balcony and enjoyed some great pub food at very reasonable prices.
Can't Be Bothered To Cook
+4.5
What's not to like?. Great Sunday lunch venue, interesting menu, good wine at reasonable prices and nice staff. Had beautiful barramundi and my friend chose an interesting chicken dish and both were yum!
Real pub. One of the few remaining pubs that hasn't been sexed up i.e. converted into a restaurant masquerading as a pub and / or turned into a neon flashing, bell ringing extractor of poor people's last finances.
...and it has real people that serve good food and great drinks in a totally unpretentious place.
Best night of the year is at the end of The Fringe Festival / beginning of the Clipsal car race. Incredible culture clash in the front bar - but everyone gets along because they all just feel welcome! Heaven, thanks Kevin.
Lovely old pub. Very welcoming. Great staff. Excellent service.
On our first visit just enjoyed a drink while we sat outside and watched the world go by.
Based on our first experience we chose to come back for lunch another day.
Again welcomed as soon as we arrived and ordered a drink when we chose our lunch from a great menu.
Ordered lunch which arrived shortly thereafter.
We had steak sandwich & chips and Portabello mushrooms with beetroot & feta salad.
The beetroot was so fresh and very tasty and the feta was some of the best I've had. The mushrooms were really yum.
10/10 from us.
Spent quality time at this place. Staff is friendly and Schnitzel were delicious and top- quality with generous portion size. Definitely visiting this place again.
The kind of pub you want as your local! Great vibe, authentic (non pretentious) pub! This was my first schnitty and it was amazing! The creamy mushroom sauce was insanely good!
A great old school pub with friendly staff, decent wine list and I'll be back to eat the mushroom gnocchi next time it's on the menu. Either way they have excellent hot chips!
Friendly service, nice to sit outside and have a drink, watching the world go by. Jug of pale ale for $25.
