Review Khangs Noodles - Adelaide

I thought the mango smoothie was fine, no complaints there! I had the prawn skewers, very good and the raw beef with meatballs pho. Loved the broth, and the chilli was fireyđŸ„”, but great. Ate the dim sum(steamed) before a pic!! Improve the menu appearance with pics would be helpful. I'll be back to try another dish or 3

Been here a few times. Great variety of dishes and very very generous serves. Dry egg noodles with roast pork is yum. The roast pork crackle is soooooo crispy. Yum!

Lots of room for improvement here. The food quality, menu and cleanliness has gone down but the staff are good. I would also recommend putting some effort into the menu appearance and add photos of the item to allow guests a better chance of ordering what they might enjoy and save the staff taking order some time.

Visited with low expectations having read a number of poor reviews about staff attitude. Found something I liked on the menu but couldn't get a straight answer out of waitperson if it was gf or not. The dish was chicken, pork, and prawns with glass noodle. There wasn't a huge amount of meat and there was only one prawn. However, the soup was superb and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Just delicious. Will definitely be back.

We ate spicy beef noodle (bĂșn bĂČ) and dried pork noodle (hủ tĂu). Although the spicy beef noodle can not beat the flavour I love in Vietnam, this place still consider as the best similar one in Adelaide (we tried almost spicy beef noodle in Adelaide). The dried pork noodle lacks of its signature sauce. I think the chef should create his signature sauce and mix it with noodle before delivering to customers. So, the best dried noodle is still Viet Hoa’s. The flavour of soup along with dried noodle is good, so I guess pork noodle soup will be good, I will try it in the next time.

Really bad service and unhelpful staff. She saw our drink was spilt all over the table and did not have the courtesy to even try and help clean up or offer us a towel, at least, for us to clean up. Combination rice was not bad, decent size. Good bowl of Pho with lesser MSG, however I find the tendons really hard and chewy to swallow. Love the avocado smoothie and durian smoothie, just a little bit on the sweet side. Could be more generous with the vegetables for the pho. Also asked for no ice in my 3 beans drink as I don't like it too cold and got served half a glass.. Wow cheap much?? Crispy pork was not good too

We have been to this restaurant for quite many years now and seen it's gone down hill with the quality of the food. We went there on Saturday and ordered dried chicken, pork and prawn noodles as usual. We did notice the terrible unpleasant taste of bad pork and prawn. I can't believe they served old spoiled meat and seafood to the customers. But my son ordered Pho needle soup and the beef was fresh which he enjoyed it. My friend told me that she and her friend had serious food poisoning last time they were here from the same dried noodle dish. She called the restaurant to let them know but the owner seemed not interested in and took no action. So just beware of ordering unpopular dishes there, they may use old leftover ingredients and meat. For the service point of view, to be honest I've hardly experienced good services there. we saw new young waitresses every time we went there. Hence, we often got the food we didn't order or wrong size dishes, perhaps from the inexperience of the staff. I remember once a few years ago, I argued with a waiter there because of his bad attitude and temper from trying to put us in the table we didn't want to sit. I guess I kept going back there because of the good texture of noodle in the dried noodle dish which I couldn't get from any other Vietnamese restaurants in Adelaide. But I think I won't go back there again if the food quality is not improved.

Their menu claims to offer vegetarian options on all dishes but it's not fully vegetarian! All the vego dishes either have chicken powder or fish sauce. They offered precisely one dish as a pure vegetarian option. As vegetarians, this was offensive, very misleading and unacceptable. We were forced to walk out without giving them our Business. Complete sham!

Average food.. Extremely poor service from staff. You want table water? Go get it yourself. You want kid bowls, go get it yourself. Saw a new sign that I have attached.. During the midst of a pandemic, the nerve and greed of these people..

We rang up and made a reservation requesting 3 high chairs, the lady on the phone did not take my name or number simply hang up after I spoke to her. We arrived at the restaurant on time being told that there is no high chairs left because all were given out to other customers, plus there isn’t a table reserved for us at all! we had to put the 3 young toddlers on our lap and feed them as they were starving and cannot wait for a high chair to be ready. I asked the waitresses why they didn’t reserve the high chair for us and she said because other customers come first so they had to give the high chairs out first, I asked them what is the point of me making a booking then? She didn’t respond to me, she said if u are not happy u can go to other restaurants......what kind of customer service is this? the other waitresses were very rude too, they did not apologise at all and all showing a blunt face as if it was our fault, food taste is average, not worth the price paid, will not come back again and will share this with all my friends.

Great fresh salads, really enjoy using Uber eats to get khangs noodles at work. Staff are usually pleasant when I go in and the prices are really good. The vermicelli salads are a personal favourite, spring rolls and cold rolls are really great too. It’s a pretty busy little restaurant with limited parking however it’s located next to large shopping centre so you can park on the street or in the shopping centre car park and still be very Close to the restaurant.

Only had one issue ever with the place and that was with a pick up order taking close to an hour to be ready however staff were semi apologetic and if never experienced it previously
Ordered beef pho for takeaway using Ubereats tonight and I am completely dissatisfied with the food. The soup tasted bland, overly sweet and lacking the spice and beefy flavor you look for in a good bowl of pho. Extremely disappointed with the lack of sincerity. Would definitely not be ordering it again.

If you are after typical Vietnamese fare like Beef Noodle Soup (Pho) and Broken Rice (Com Tam) and Vermicelli noodles (Bun) then you can get that here, but most importantly, it will also be at a good standard. Fresh, consistent, good size servings, all moderately priced. The small size Pho is probably big enough for a standard meal for any person. The medium size Pho will suffice for anyone with a bigger than standard appetite. The extra large size Pho seems to be somewhat of a silly novelty than something that any mere mortal could ever finish themselves. Even two people would struggle to finish that behemoth. They should give out T-shirts for anyone who can fit that thing in their stomachs. Having said that, I am usually more of a Com Tam (Broken Rice) guy and one of my pet peeves is when the roast pork that comes with it is not very fresh or crispy (often the case with these places). However, this place does the roast pork very well and its always been fresh when I've ordered it - so much so that I just order the "Roast Pork Broken Rice" instead of the "Combination" so I can get more of that fresh, tender, slightly fatty, slightly greasy, roast pork goodness, with the all-important and always crispy crackling! Consistency is the hallmark of a good eatery because it ensures satisfaction, satiety, and value for money. It also means you know what you are paying for and that you wont be getting any unwanted surprises. After about a dozen or so visits I am confident that this place is quite consistent.

I'm not one to care about ambience. Places like this are here to serve one's appetite not to create a particular dining experience or aesthetic. The slurping sound of noodles and soup, the crunch of crispy pork crackling, the motley assortment of diners that come and go, and the loud conversations create an ambience befitting of the purpose of such a place. It lacks the pretension of some other Vietnamese Pho-based eateries that try to appear more "up-market", with their "up-market" prices and their desire to cater to a more "up-market" clientele (by which I mean working class Caucasians who come in search for something "exotic", "healthy" and "reasonably priced", though almost always end up ordering a stir-fry or a salt n pepper squid to go with their BYO). In reality, Pho, Broken Rice, Vermicelli and the like, are the heart and soul of these places. Dishes that in their country of origin, were and still are, sold as affordable and tasty street-food by street-vendors for mainly working class folk (and now "food tourists" of course). This place retains that kind of heart and soul and with consistency too.

Foods was just ok. (5/10)
The worst thing is the staff attitudes . The worst ever as compared to other Vietnamese restaurant in Adelaide .
Thanks.

Great restaurant, love all kinds of noodles there, I’ve tried almost all kinds of noodle already. Recommend the iced coffee too. We normally order via the phone and when we arrive there the noodle is ready. The owner and his wife are very nice people.
Kneesocks
We go there for consistently good, big, yummy warm bowls of pho and laksa! They have plenty more to choose from on their menu. We also recommend the custard-apple smoothies. Good value for money. Generous serves.
Wenners
Kway Teow oily and the meat grisly also tasted like tomato sauce, fried rice bland, fried dim sim looked and tasted like fish cakes, yellow curry chicken tasted like Keen's curry powder and the chicken was rubbery. Dreadful.
Poppie
Amazing Avocado and coconut smoothie!!! Poppie would come back over and over just for this. The hokkien Mee are delicious however the Thai fried Rice is a little on the plain side even though it's packed with seafood. Serving sizes have definitely seemed to have become smaller since Poppies last visit. Prices are reasonable. Good service and plenty of seating. Worth an eat if in the area 👍

Came here for lunch and was curious what the renovations were like. Not bad just a nice contemporary style make over. Food was nice as always but prices are slightly higher then normal but the servings are big. Small pho is about $14.5 I think medium $15.50 then the large is $17! Mind you it's the size of a fish bowl lol!
SpiceyRiceCakes
Ok, I have to agree with all the other reviews on this restaurant. I ONLY come here for their stir-fried noodles (Khang's special combination & the Sweet & Spicy noodles are my favourites). Their selection of fruit smoothies are great however their pho and other soup dishes aren't so satisfying. I have to mention that the recent renovation looks lovely, supper spacious. Most waiters don't speak English very well and aren't very attentive when waiting to be served. I've had to raise my hands up like a school kid several times lol
Jill
Used to come here often. Today's our first visit back after their renovation, utterly disappointed. Food used to come out quickly even on days when the restaurant is full of customers. We had to wait 45-50 mins after ordering. We noticed many other customers complaining too. The food delivered isn't worth the time waiting. Soggy noodles and extremely greasy stir fry. They've also raised their menu price after the renovation which is expected. The banner outside their restaurant advertising 'better than ever', clearly not the case. Should've gone to Tien Giang or NNQ.

I've been to this restaurant several times (maybe 8x?) in the last 4 years. Everytime I come here, I always order their combination beef pho. Generally, the pho tastes pretty good with big portion sizes and quick service.

However, the reason for my low rating is because I have found hair once in my food and bugs on two seperate occasions. I suspect that the bugs are from the herbs/veggies that come served with the pho. I have shown the hair/bugs to the waiter everytime and they always ask If I want a replacement.

The disappointing thing is that they do not seem to care about this issue since its been going on for years and yet they still havent improved the way they handle food or customer complaints. It is fair to say that this restaurant probably isnt the only one that has had this issue, but this is the only restaurant that I've been to that hasn't improved the way they handle food.

I don't usually write restaurant reviews but I feel like other potential customers should be aware of this food safety issue. I won't be going back anytime soon ... or ever
Maddiganmorris
Ordered a 'rice vermicelli with SALAD', spring rolls and 'chicken' cold rolls off ĂŒber eats.

Never been so disappointed. Not only were the spring rolls so cold but the cold rolls were terrible, the chicken used looked like a chicken loaf. The vermicelli 'SALADS' were just meat and noodles. Luckily we had some ice berg in the fridge....

Not sure what they think a vermicelli salad is. Next time some carrots, cucumber, lettuce, peanuts and chilli wouldn't go astray??

Just a thought.

Never ordering from you again
Jade
Good food, no complaints about the customer service and the dining area is very spacious and clean which I like.. but the prices are just too high! There are many similar restaurants in the area that offer the same or better quality food and service at more reasonable prices.
Pegbasket
Spicy beef and pork was below average. Really poor pieces of brisket.
Service is really great and everyone in the place looks pretty pleased.

Won't return for their spicy beef and pork. Maybe something else.
Kevin
very bad service, i have order take away beef noodle 15mins on the phone and when i come there they still not doing any thing and make me wait for other half hour. that's bullshit you should cut off the phone for order take away.
HoneyBintheCity
Came here with a couple of friends and I never even knew the place existed. Will admit it's small and in a slightly dodgy area, but doesn't stop the food from being tasty and very valuable in price. Had the Chicken, pork and prawn phó and a can of coke for $15 and the small size was seriously so big I couldn't finish it. 😊
MushroomBob
Ordered a combination broken rice, the roast pork was like 95% fat with no meat on it. Been here before and it was never this bad, maybe just 50% fat. Might have to specifically tell them when you order it (lean roast pork please). Otherwise, quail was good and khang's bao was so so.
Clare
Never again! The worst Vietnamese food I've ever eaten! The meat in the chili beef soup was all fat and the broth was just oil with no flavour. There are so many places in the area that serve way better food than Khangs. Give Cam Wah or Mai Kitchen a go, so much better. Way overpriced and terrible customer service.
N
Best pho in Adelaide at the moment (I eat a lot of pho!). I can't really say much about the other food because I only order pho. Not the cheapest bowl you can get but still heaps cheaper than Western foods. You gotta try it!
Food Ding Bat
Had hair in 2/3 of our dishes. Apart from that value for money food, not overly amazing. Pho is always good, however sweet and sour chicken was more like nuggets and ketchup.
Coffee Beans
Will never bother to go back to this place. The meat was too fatty..told the staff but they said they couldn't do much about it as that's how it was delivered to them! You would think the smart thing should have been to not accepted it from their delivery company..but instead to get customer complaints!!
Stefp76
Been here about 10 times now and the food is consistently good and great value for money. The place is more for a casual meal or quick lunch. Don't expect to get high restaurant style service here, but the staff are attentive and efficient.

As a regular and long-time customer of Khangs, the food definitely doesn't disappoint, especially if you are after an authentic Vietnamese dish! I often order the Pho (Beef noodle Soup) and am always satisfied with the taste, portion and cost! The rice dishes also are satisfying and all the dishes at Khangs are very affordable. However, last time I dined at Khangs I had a horrible customer experience and was very upset with the service or should I say no-service that I was provided. After finishing our dishes I went up to the counter to pay, the cashier lady was talking to her friend and when she noticed me coming to the counter she looked at me and let her friend know there was a customer waiting. As her friend sat down I went to the counter and just as I got there, another older Asian lady arrived at the counter who I JUST saw enter the premise. The cashier then looked away from me, ignored me and went to serve the older lady which they spoke in Vietnamese together, I ended up waiting at the counter for about 10 minutes while the cashier talked to the older lady and got her take-way food.I truly find this upsetting, frustrating and just terrible customer service. I feel like I was victimised by racism for that time and this experience makes me not want to return.

I recently received some free movie tickets from work and saw this as a opportunity to catch up for dinner with a friend. The Arndale cinemas was the movie destination, and located right behind the complex was Khang’s Noodles. I’ve driven past this place on many occasions and have heard good things.
Mr. Potato-san
crazy value especially the pho there. the large bowl is enough to feed a family, and my chopstick kept falling into the bowl.

the smoothie however was way too thick, it felt like i was drinking a brick through the straw.

Been back a few times and the pho (broth and noodle dish) is probably the house specialty and one of the main dishes ordered hear. The serving size is big and value is good. As for the other meals and rice that we have tried they were ok.
Basic, clean, good value, mid range eatery.
Angie-Marie Piantadosi
This place is a hidden gem right behind the arndale shopping centre! great little place & always busy! has yummy food especially the soups!

OVER CHARGE. The food was nice, but got overcharged because I wanted my meat on a separate plate, their excuse was "we are charging you extra due to having to wash an extra plate, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE ANYMORE!" What kind of customer service is that? The menu doesn't even state the extra cost! Everyone, please look at your bill before paying!

Yep. It's great.. 9/10

Its like home for me. I go at least 2 even 3 times a week. It is not your traditional restaurant. Its more or less home for me so service is not an issue. No one to great or seat you? No biggie, grab a table yourself! The staff are more than happy to please.
I highly recommend the pho soup. A must try!
R
Worst Service! Don't go. Very first time we were going to try it. There was no one to welcome you + the people who came after us got seated first. No acknowledgement from any of the staff. WORST service we've ever encountered!
Seamus W
Large servings and delicious flavours!. I've had the pho here and it was good (wouldn't say it's the best around the area) but I think their stirfry noodles are the best! I love their hokkein mee, which has so much flavour and really satisfies.
Momo
Nice clean restaurant with good service. The phĂŽ is lovely and I couldn't fault it at all. It was exactly the phĂŽ I have been craving all week!
Alright
The servings are insanity. Would you like a salad bowl full of the tastiest pho in adelaide? yes? well this is the place for you. good prices for pho. all the pho variants are delicious, but the rest of the menu is a bit of a hit and miss. really, if you order pho (be it chicken or beef) you won't be disappointed. the restaurant itself is not the most luxurious, but it's great for a saturday lunch pho fix.
Stella
Has become a favourite because of it's fresh flavours, huge serves and low prices. The pho soup is to die for and you only need to order the small as the bowls sizes are huge!!! The roast pork and quails are a must have. Love love love this place!

IMPRESSED!. I was surprised at the serving size. Great for me because I had left overs for lunch! The broth was tasty (I ordered the combination beef) and they were generous with the meat in their servings. My only complaint was that I was charged an extra $4 for tendon, which, by many western diets (I'm a westerner) is classed as offal...... $4 was a bit rich in my opinion, Especially when others in the area have it already added into their COMBINATION beef. Other than that the food was AMAZING and the broth was HOT. I went to Pho 75 and the noodles were over cooked and soggy and they served me cold broth. It was during lunch (I'm not sure if pho is eaten hot and cold but I was VERY disappointed to receive a cold meal.... Like literally cold, as in not heated at all. And it was bland (won't be back!). Above all, I'm happy with the service and will definitely be going back to khangs. Btw did I say the servings are huge?! Seriously they are MASSIVE! YUM!
Noideawotsoeva
Loved it!. As I have not been well lately my husband decided to treat me to a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup at Khang's tonight and I have to say, it was AMAZING! We were shown to a table and ordered drinks straight away. They were at our table within 2 minutes. The table was clean and had all the cutlery and sauces etc well laid out on it. We both ordered a medium Chicken Noodle Soup which was at our table within about 5 minutes and was delicious, fresh and ENORMOUS! A small would have been plenty and we are both big eaters. We did not need any entree's. The soup was only $11 which in my opinion is an absolute bargain. The drinks were reasonably priced. For the two of us our entire bill was $29! We would normally expect to pay at least that amount each, so overall we were very happy with our dining experience. Will definitely go back, even though we don't live anywhere near Kilkenny!
Ymmas
Noodle soup yum. I've been here many many times as a regular guest, long waiting time as usual. The spicy beef & pork noodle soup always the best, good size. By the way, there have the best Durian smoothie, as it have strong flavour, if you like Durian you will love it.
Thruth Review
Come in very rude and pushy service quick service but mains at the table as I was eating my entree. Don't know if they understand they are suppose to wait till the customer has finished also my bowl has a very large chip in it. No napkins on the table only tissues. Ordered sweet and sour chicken for main it was deep fried chicken with a tub of sauce on the side chicken just tasted like fryer oil honestly disgusting. Happy to say I will not return

Not going back. Have been here a lot, every time is disappointing. Either they add on extra costs at the end or the quality of food is really low. Go to the toilets before you come here! Absoloutly grotty toilets, makes you wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen! You end up paying for low quality food as much as if you go to an actual nice restaurant! Even a can of coke is overpriced at $3 each! No reduction in price if its takeaway either! Next time im going to nghi ngan quan around the corner (which is so packed out everynight you have to book ahead) or the sunflower or rose garden. Never ever going back to khangs!
Sherry
OMG I love this place Huge .... OMG I love this place
Huge meals for little price
Best pho ever

Had another great beef pho last night. the food is always quick, fresh and cheap.

Awesome Soups. I think this place is great value, and the noodle soup are the best.

Unless you want to eat somewhere were you would like to get ripped off this is the place. Went in there for some laksa and chicken/fried rice dish and 2 ice teas. Extra fried rice cost me $3. Fair enough. Yet an extra $4 was charged for NOTHING!! The whole bill came to $35 but they wrote down total amount $37!! so another $2 rip off and no they don't charge service fee or whatever. Principle here is $6 were pocketed by the restaurant and receipt was taken away by them!! will not eat here again unless they stop ripping people off!!!
Ron
Very BAD service!! Their extra add-on are absolute rip off!! $4 for a few pieces of thinly sliced meat balls! When we approached the owner, she refused to come to our table to talk. We went up to the counter instead and she was so rude and said we are the 1st to complained!! There are definitely many better restaurants around that area and I would NOT recommend anymore to go there all all!

Khang noodles is a affordable place.
Nice and yummy food.
But horrible service, dislike the service. I came in, polite manners, got the menu. Decided and waited for the Waitress for about 20 MINUTES!! She serves people who comes after us, but doesn't know that we are waiting, the waitress would even walk pass us and clean the other tables etc, got sick, was so close to leaving, so I walked up the paying counter and place my orders. Unhappy with the service. Happens MANY times. Unsure if its them, or it's just my bad luck all the time!

But over all, the foods are good.

We ordered the medium size which equated to a large anywhere else. The pho ga was great - fresh noodles and loads of chicken. The cold rolls were huge and flavoursome and the vermicelli salad delicious. The food came out so fast we barely had time to talk which was fine as we wanted a quick meal. I would give the deep fried tofu a miss - a bit bland.
Kirsti McPharlin
This is by no means a fancy restaurant but we thoroughly enjoyed it! It was our first time eating Vietnamese so we are not experts! It is right next to the cinemas & service is very speedy so was great for a quick bite before a movie- servings are very big and wished we had shared & great prices!
Apple
The beef noodle, rice combination & the sate are all amazing! Rarely disappointed, the staff do a wonderful job! Cheap, fast & delicious :) - don't forget your durian smoothy (YUM!)
What I Eat
Everytime I go here, It's bad!. I went here the other night and once again it is a disappointment. As I live around this area, there are so many places that sell the dishes within a 1km proximity. And I think all of them out do this one.

For starters, I was told that they had really good cold rolls here however they were small and just average. I was not impressed with their noodles. Personally I prefer egg noodle soups over soups with rice noodles such as beef noodles however this place had barely any egg noodle soups on their menu and the one that I did order was pretty poor. It was probably the worst one I've had in my life. My friends were pretty happy with their food which was beef noodle soups so maybe I am just not ordering the right thing here. The only good thing is that their prices were like every other place so it was a cheap eat.

I also got takeaway salt and pepper squid for a family member that night, which was pretty bad. It's not hard to make salt and pepper squid but they sure messed it up easily. They left it waiting at the counter in container, lid closed and in a plastic bag until the end of my meal. By the time I got home, it was so soggy that the batter was practically falling off and it looked like it had been sitting in a bowl of water. Also for the small container that it was is and the small portion, $15 for it was way over priced.

All I can say about this restaurant is at least the staff are good workers as the food always comes out fast and the drinks get served before the food.. sometimes.
Hilda Paz Araya
Biggest larges ever. Be prepared to sacrifice at least an hour to finish soup!
Pipi
Delicious meals and fast service.
I recommend the chicken pork and prawns for a refreshing tasty meal.
If you are after something more hearty and with a bit of spice the laksa is just as amazing!
I personally prefer the tofu laksa :)
Always Hungry
Good, cheap food. Your experience may depend on the dishes you order though. Love the Pad Thai and Thai fried rice but didn't enjoy the curries.

Fantastic place!!! Cheap and damn good. One of the best beef noodles in town!!!
Meli M
Oily and mushy, never order the omlete
Soup Lover
Yummy. Khangs is amazing best soups and noodles all around and a must try is there omelete's just to die for!!! Great prices quick service and just all over great food i couldnt ask for more. I've been going there for years and years and never once had a bad meal! please a must try if in the area!
Donna
Khang's Noodle Bar. Great for a quick cheap meal. Cheap being the operative word! Nothing fancy here... typical of a lot of authentic Vietnamese cafes. All the sauces, cutlery and a box of tissues on each table. Good for true vietnamese food but not for the more westernised meals.. e.g. salt and pepper squid or honey chicken.... battered food was shocking! But it is a noodle bar and its best to stick at that! Great spring rolls though!
T.A
Khang's waste of time. Service is awful, can't get an order right, rude, lazy, no hospitality and absolutely no idea what they are doing, will never bother with this junk pit again!!!
Michelle Leong
After blogging about food for the small eaters out there, this one goes out to fans of having hearty portions at reasonable prices. I have been here a few times and considering that it is located nearer to us compared to other places, it was the only choice especially when you have hungry siblings on board.
Michelle Leong
Do drop by if you are around the area and you won't be disappointed!!
