Fabulous! My go to Asian place!! Great prices and great food... would recommend the Vietnamese salad, beef pho and WYO cold rolls (particularly fun when there’s lots of people) good service and super chill. Everything tastes fresh and dishes are consistent! 👌🏼👌🏼
Salt and pepper Selection (spicy one) is a must try!!
I ordered for salt and pepper king prawns which were perfectly cooked, chicken maryland was delicious as well.
Cheap, tasty and good vietnamese joint hidden in chinatown.
Thanh thanh is probably my pho place to go in the city. The service is fast but the quality of food is great. The broth is clear and very flavoursome. I came here with two friends and we ordered the spring rolls as starters. It was nice but nothing out of the ordinary. For mains, I had the rare beef noodle soup while my friends had the rare and cook beef and the other had the pho combination. For a difference of $1.50 between the small and large size, the bowls definitely didn’t look much different in size. The broth though was really flavoursome just the way I like it! We also ordered the ice filtered coffee which were average. Can’t say they’re the best but they’re definitely not the worst!
Good cheap Vietnamese eatery! Their pho is yummy !! Don't expect anything with service - they try their best but as you can expect it can get pretty busy at times so service can be average
Thanh Thanh has been my preferred Pho stop for some time now. It’s very casual Asian dining, tables turn fast and it’s always busy when I go there. My usual order is Pho Tai or Pho Tai Nam (rare beef and cooked beef). The rare beef slices are so tender when they briefly cook as hot soup is poured over. Today we felt like a change.
Unassuming frontage but the food is good. I had the spicy beef and pork rice noodles with soup-very tasty and very spicy soup which was great for a cold winter's day. My daughter had the sugar cane prawns with vermicelli noodles and was very pleased with her choice as there was a generous amount of sugar cane prawns on the top (which she said were better than Nghi Nghan Quan's). My son had the combination rice which he reported was excellent and the quantity was sufficient that he was full when he finished. Hubby had wonton noodles in soup which he enjoyed as well
Food was tasty, generous in size and excellent value for money. We ordered the salt and pepper squid and crispy chicken noodles and rate both highly. Definitely worth trying and will be coming back for more!
I haven't been to Thanh Thanh for quite some time so decided it was time to return. in the mood for some dumpling and soup action I asked for the wontons to be steamed rather than fried and this was no problem. Not the best wontons I've had but they hit the spot. I also made my way through a large bowl of pho ga (for an extra $1 you have to upsize!). Good, tasty chicken broth with lots of chicken. Just what I needed. The staff were really friendly and the food came out in record time so Thanh Thanh is good for a quick lunch.
Poppie popped into Thanh Thanh and stepped into the Orange dimension. All around Poppie he was surrounded by Orange, the walls, tables, so much orange. Quite unique. Poppie and friends started with spring rolls which were delicious. Then Poppie ordered the No. 48 Stir-fried egg noodles with beef. For $12 or so it is quite good value for money. Everyone was happy with their meals, nothing to complain about. Great tasty food for a reasonable price. Also Poppie needs to mention that the table staff were extremely helpful when it was time to order and identifying and making suggestions as to what to order. Thumb up definitely worth an eat if your around Gouger St. and want to give some of the more populous hustle and bustle eateries a miss
This place is a great find, we shared a plate of the 'make your own cold rolls' for starter which were delicious and fresh with ample herbs and dipping suave provided, and then I had a delicious bowl of Pho for main with fresh beef. The meat was super tender, and the broth was tasty. Value for money, will definitely be returning.
Very tasty Vietnamese food, with no thrills. This place has been here for years and they do all the Vietnamese classics very well. It's one of the best spots around town for pho and they wonton soup is also great.
Price wise there is nothing to complain about, however be mindful they will charge you for just about everything including tap water.
You need to check it out at least once
The food here is delicious. The pho is great. The food comes out quickly.
The interior is exactly beautiful or classy but who cares when the food is great.
It can get a bit noisy in here.
Absolutely fantastic. Cannot fault Thanh Thanh, the food is very reasonably priced and the staff are absolutely accommodating and nice. They are also kid friendly which always helps. Cannot wait to come back
We have heard some great reviews about this place so we thought we would give it a try. As we walk in bright orange walls cover the place; families are sitting together enjoying their meals; nice atmosphere. We were seated straight away and given menus; such a big variety and too much too chose from.
For entree we had the spring rolls which were lovely. But the big winner of the entree was the satay chicken. The satay sauce is a 10/10 great flavours nice thick sauce; with nuts on top. Could of had just a main meal of it. For main I had the wonton soup with pork and prawns; very tasty!! It was served with fresh herbs, lemon and bean sprouts. My partner had the chilli lemongrass chicken; the flavours were bold and fantastic!
We had 2 entrees and two mains with a glass of wine and was under $60. The servings are very generous. We will return!! 😊😊😊
Had a brodate here after some group meetings and this place was like a spa after a cold hike. Warm environment and pleasant staff made this place ever so delightful. The pho and laksa are quite worth the money as well as their durian, custard apple and avocado smoothies. Definitely a good meal for an affordable price. And also, their long bean in XO Sauce is delicious!
Pho is the new black, or at least that is what it seems to be given how it seems to be growing in popularity. It seems everyone has their own favourite place, and their own personal mix of how they put it all together. This is one of the many great things about it though – the customisation you can do at the table. While what you are served is perfectly good, it is like a blank canvas. A blank, delicious, broth shaped canvas with noodles. You can then adjust the herbs, chilli, saltiness (via the hoisin or fish sauce), add a squeeze of lemon or lime for freshness and zest, and some sprouts for a little crunch. Everyone’s pho really is their own.
Awsome food, Excellent service and very passionate owner all adds up to one of the best if not the best Vietnamese restaurants in Adelaide.
We visit once a week and absolutely love the food. Squid, make your own cold rolls and crispy pork chop rice are some of the standout dishes for me. I also really love the fresh lemon drink. Good spot for a cheap lunch or dinner!
Winter warming goodness pho you at Thanh Thanh on Field Street (opposite Wasai) in Chinatown Adelaide. Pho tai (small bowl); $10.50. Can’t go wrong with a warm and aromatic traditional Vietnamese beef noodle soup with fresh sliced beef and a side of fresh herbs and beansprouts for extra texture, crunch and freshness.
I've always had a great experience at Thanh Thanh, the service is good, the food is better and the prices are the best! I'm fussy with restaurants, but after discovering Thanh Thanh, I've had my birthday there every year and introduced many of my friends who now love it to.
Have been several times when have a little time to kill, The service has been very friendly and meals served promptly which is convenient when in a bit of a rush. Beef noodle soup and Vietnamese coffee are my fav all should try 🍜☕
Dined here last night
Very good Pho
Good service
Nice wines plenty of options
Excellent prices and great range of food choices we loved it and will be a regular
Love this place for casual catch ups with friends. Great flavourful pho nam that is always served pretty much instantly! Imo a much better pho than others found at nnq or yen lihn across the street.
Great food great prices and generous serving size. Feels slightly unclean inside, such as bench tops not wiped down properly, but food makes up for this - or just get take away and you're laughing :-)
Cannot even count how many times I've been here! As a uni student with not a lot of money, this is one of my go to places when I want a cheap tasty Asian meal. Without a doubt, I order a large number 19 on the menu every time (fresh cooked beef pho) and a 3 bean drink! Highly recommend for a casual dining experience. The atmosphere isn't great for an intimate date, but the food and fast service make up for this!
Great lunch spot! I had a chilli lemongrass stir-fry with tofu & veggies, which was made off the menu without any issues. The menu is big and varied and the restaurant itself is very big so good for group bookings.
Bloody Brilliant !!. Went there Monday night ! great place ! straight away entering the place was welcoming warm and friendly !! then it changed !!! it got better ! quick service happy staff ! ordered food very quick service !!! food was yummy and pleasant to look at ! and hot when served !
and after spilling my drink went to toilet to wash hands ! another amazing thing The bathrooms were spotless ! hence the sign was great ! a first !
Eating Down The Street
+4.5
Tasty food at an affordable price. I come here regularly to have the mix rice plate and lemongrass beef with rice. The portions are huge ! Prices are reasonable. I do suspect that a lot of its tastiness may come from msg and sugar but at least it tastes great !
Great little hidden gem. Super good fresh Vietnamese food and friendly staff. Owner came up and said hello. Will be back and back and back.
Oh yeah. Always a return customer. These guys cook some amazing authentic cuisine at a really good price and their service is amazing.
One average it takes me about a minute to get served after walking in the door and they are able to whip up a Durian smoothie in about 5 minutes and a minute later entree is served. For under $30 I can get two mains and a smoothie. Way to go guys I am impressed and coming back :)
Great Pho!. Good service, never have to wait long for food. Always give a good amount of mint, bean sprouts, chilli and corriander.
Only problem is that they charge for table water. Terrible idea.
Regularly visit here on a Monday night. Service is friendly and warm. Usually get the pho ha which is quite good. Service is very quick- never have to wait more than 5 mins for food. Overall 7/10
Being from Melbourne I have no shortage of Vietnamese restaurants to visit when I am home. Suburbs like Footscray, Collingwood and Preston all have amazing offerings. When I am in Adelaide, this is THE place to come for Pho. Great prices, huge servings, great staff who never stop smiling. My only gripe, they charge you for "filtered" tap water, but I got over it and keep coming back.
Good, simple, easy Vietnamese ... Fast and friendly staff. Will be back to try the Pho.
This was my fourth visit to Thanh Thanh and I love it every time. I was first introduced to it by my Vietnamese friend and although not every dish is authentic, the vast majority of the menu is, right down to drink options. We usually get broken rice plates but tonight opted for the chefs specialties chilli prawns and steamed soy chicken with the prawn wanton pork soup to start - delish! You also get generous servings for your money making this restaurant fantastic value for money. This is such a great no frills restaurant it puts many of the more expensive Chinese restaurants on Gouger to shame! The waiters were attentive and very helpful as per usual :) can't wait to take family and friends there soon
Pho is good, tried it a few times
Pork meat ball vermicelli bowl is very tasty!
The caramel chicken is good too. Nice flavour. But expected the caramel sauce to have a thicker texture.
Only negative was the duck with bamboo. Duck was grisly. I prefer the skin to be crispy, but it was soft and fatty like it had been boiled not fried. Flavour of dish was avg.
Delicious. Amazing Pho Ga
Eaten here several times and the food is amazing. The service is fantastic and the food comes out fast and is amazingly cheap.
One of the few places I choose to visit again and again
Great place for your Viet food fix. If I'm fixing for some Vietnamese in the city, this is where I go. The service is good and attentive, (although I have had some times where they forgot my drink order), and the food comes out so quickly, at peak lunch hour rush! My fav is the crispy chicken rice - it's always crispy yet juicy, which some places just can't seem to get right.
Menu. I ordered a large mixed Pho. It was a nice one and I was happy with. My friend ordered Fried chicken with noodle, that was an ordinary dish with not much taste. Service was good and Price is reasonably cheap.
Very good food but VERY limited for a vegetarian
Visited this restaurant with ten friends all of which thoroughly enjoyed their meal (even those who weren't fans of vietnamese). The food was fresh, tasty and very fairly priced. The service was reasonable. Would highly reccommend this restaurant to anyone.
Cheap but big serves. Very satisfying and scrumptious phos. Had the fresh beef and tripe pho with egg noodles, and having a bit of a cold, it hit the rit spot. Tasty sauces too--some sort of peanut concoction, and a chilli/soy sauce mix. Not out of this world, but at these prices, I can understand why it's so popular.
OK Vietnamese food in the city. The pho is nice, the salads are good – but a little too sweet for our tastes. The cold rolls are a tad boring - not enough fresh herbs. Well priced, great for a quick lunch. You do get much better food at most Woodville restaurants but this one is Ok for the city and much better than the food court.
Has this place changed hands? Is it still as good as it used to be?
Very good food at good prices considering the city location. You can eat here for virtually the same price as the surrounding food courts but with much higher quality Vietnamese food and a nicer setting. Not quite the standard of Woodville North etc. Vietnamese food but the best option in the city for this cuisine for your dollar. Friendly staff.
Amazing! Great service, great authentic food. We'll definitely be returning :)
What's happened. We went to have dinner last night and the place is closed. We can't exist without our regular dose of the best Vietnamese food in Adelaide.
Cheap and Cheerful. Two slamming big bowls of pho hit our table, bringing us back to the streets of Hanoi, slurping pho bo down with our knees to our ears on plastic chairs. Although, the decor and seating in Thanh Thanh are alot better then the ones i experienced in Vietnam. The food is generous, and delicious. The only thing I miss is the rice vinegar with chillies and garlic that they used to have in Hanoi. Thankyou Thanh Thanh for quenching my pho cravings!
Super fast service...huge servings....extremely tasty. OMG. Love this place!!! Best Vietnamese food i have ever tasted.
Perfect food for cold weather. Went to Thanh Thanh last Friday after reading the good reviews here. Was not disappointed as food was good, simple comfort food. Ordered the fried wontons to share and had the Vietnamese pho with just meatballs. Soup was really yummy. I like that the place is not pretentious as well. Will definitely return.
DELICIOUS. Another gem off Gouger Street. The food is seriously good, massive range of dishes and terrific value for money! Staff are friendly and helpful too. Highly recommended!
Love this place. These guys would have to be one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in SA.
They know their stuff.
Just go for a walk past on any given lunch break - the place is packed with a mix of Asian students and corporate suits.
I have put a lot of people onto this place and they all now take their familes regularly.
Recommended.
Best Pho in Adelaide. As a Viet guy, I can tell you that this is the best pho you can get in Adelaide! Don't be fooled by those other Chinese shops around Central Market selling you their knock offs - this is what pho should be like. A bowl will cost you around the same as it's food court counterparts but is infinitely better and can be enjoyed in a more relaxed environment. Other recommendations would be their VN rice and vermicelli dishes. MMM
Great value, fresh and super tasty. Don't be put off by the bright orange furniture, the food is very fresh and tastes fantastic. The prices are really, really cheap. I eat at Thanh Thanh's regularly, and they never disappoint!
Roll your own cold rolls. Fresh, fun and very cheap. Kids loved it.
Shhhh - don't tell anyone!!. This place is brilliant!! Fast service, fresh, tasty food and soooooo cheap! My partner & I took both sets of parents and we were stuffed to the gills for $100.75 (yes, I remember the exact bill!) There's so much to choose from, but on this occasion the highlights for me were the short soup, crispy pork chops and make-your-own rice paper rolls (the pork & prawn balls on sugar-cane sticks). Will definitely be back, we aim to work our way through the whole menu :-)
Fabulous experience! Fresh, fast and amazing value for money. Soups amazing, noodle dishes with sugar cane new and the make your own cold rolls was novel... Ingredients so fresh! Will be returning soon with friends in tow.
The flavours at Thanh Thanh were interesting: custard apple, avocado, and durian are the ones I can remember, and they were good value by Adelaide standards. I’ll admit though, it still hurts a little paying $10 for a bowl of pho.
Thanh Thanh is officially our new favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Adelaide. They're located just off Gouger Street, across the road from the Central Markets. Thanh Thanh has a lot going for it: really fresh and great quality food, heaps of seating, light and bright decor, friendly service, and super cheap prices. There's an extensive menu to choose from, but here's a selection of what we've tried so far... Small Beef Noodle Soup ($8) Delicious pho with plenty of nice spring onion flavour in the broth...the Small was plenty. I saw the Large and it could easily feed two people. Small Combination Broken Rice Plate ($8.50) Definitely the best quality broken rice plate we've had anywhere in Adelaide. Great flavour, juicy and perfectly cooked pork. Comes with a nice veggie broth soup. Again, if you go for the Large you will need a jumbo stomach. Three Colour Bean Drink ($4) The picture doesn't do it justice. This was one awesome Three Colour Bean Drink! Delicious and a meal in itself! Thi
