An icon in Adelaide and to be discovered on this side street.  Little lunch on a Tuesday and I had a sausage roll and custard fruit flan, and a Farmers Union Iced Coffee (of course!).  I squatted to eat on the little bench inside and enjoyed each item.  The custard fruit flan was delicious.  A treat to visit this place and to see the recurring long queue of people coming to eat!

2nd visit

Went back today and had a Cornish Pasty that reminded me of the ones my Grandma used to make. So, so good.

But dear  Lord almighty! The Beesting! Oh my goodness gracious! Just a thing of wonder!

Pretty much a part of Adelaide History, Perryman's has been churning out the baked goods for nearly 100 years and even though the original family sold it a few years back (after three generations) they're still using the original recipes, many of them from a German background.

Their pies and pasties are smaller than those from most places - pocket pies and pasties. I've heard two stories about this. One is that just after Perryman's started out the Great Depression hit and by making smaller pies and pasties more people could afford to buy them. The other is that Perryman's used to supply lunches to the kids at North Adelaide Primary School next door and the things are kid's lunch sized. whatever the reason their savoury baked goods are delicious and just the right size to eat two.

We also had a egg salad roll, with lots of filling in the freshest of real bread. A really delicious thing.

Go and find them in the far end of Tynte Street and enjoy. By the way, the cakes and the bread look absolutely sensational!

This place does German cakes better than the best German bakers in the Barossa. Everything I have tried here is top quality. The streusel is amazing. I love a good bakery and Perryman's is up there with the best of them. Basically hidden down Tynte street, those in the know turn down off O'Connell Street to get their much needed carb fix. Carb haters look away now. Love this place. The packed lunch time crowd shows that many others do also.

Beesting, I sing. That is how wonderfully scrumptious Perryman's Beesting buns are. I wasn't expecting much either. Well I knew it was a bakery and that was a good start but they sit in the low 3s but boy howdy those buns were certainly the funs.

Perryman's is a small bakery, but that is how I like them. Unassuming, out of the way, sweet really. It even has a small butcher across the road and a candle stick maker 2 doors down*. The range is small but very German in offering. They bake some breads and some bread sticks and some gourmets. I queried what a gourmet was as they all looked pretty stock standard and my reply was' "what ever you want gourmet to be". I liked this, this little bit of banter, I'm not sure she really understood why the bread was gourmet either but at $2.50 more then a normie I decided against the gourmeter.

But the beesting, fantastic, really, I don't want to credit Krispy Kreme as doing some good buns but I have to admit when you eat one you want more (surprisingly hard sometimes considering the sugar and the cream). Perryman's beestings just left me wanting more. I almost went back the next day to get one. If the beesting is anything to go on the rest should be amazing but I will wait and see and keep you posted.

Besting out....ah, I mean Justin out.

Why am I outing myself, thats not cool.

*no candle stick maker exist in or around the butcher and the baker but when there use your imagination. I am sure a hipster is melting down crayons from their youth and casting them in reindeer shaped moulds somewhere nearby.

A great hidden gem. Loved the vego pasties and lemon curd tarts! Tucked away off the main street in the heart of North Adelaide, this bakery's reputation and products makes it a worthwhile detour or pit stop on your way to the park, playground, horse paddocks or Adelaide Zoo - all within walking distance!

My mum always took me here when I was going to Barker kindy! The little pasties are gorgeous especially the cheese and veg as are the tiny pies. I remember getting the little jam pastries when I was 4 and they are still making them. Staff are always lovely. A favorite local for me.

I love Perryman's!. I really love Perryman's! I love the small pies! They are a perfect size and taste amazing!
I love the cakes and I regularly get these and bring them into work (I secretly pretend that I make them myself!) and they are always a hit! Sometimes the deserts/little cakes etc aren't that amazing, but I don't mind because at least they are not mass produced like most bakeries! The staff are always lovely!

Adelaide Treasure. I have been going to Perryman's since I was a little boy - when I was younger they made the only meat pies that I was interested in eating! Fast forward to now and things haven't changed much, aside from a lovely little new shop front on Grote St serving up the same delicious treats that I remember from so many years ago. The Streusel cake is almost too addictive - such a tasty crumble happening there.

My go to coffee shop! There is normally a bit waiting time at lunch time but at other times, it's usually fairly quick. They have a good variety of food and drinks. Recommend their custard Danish and Swiss roll if you like sweets. I like their plain bread rolls, iced latte and coffee. They even put a small gingerbreadman on your coffee. How cute is that!

A very nice bakery which takes you back to the early 1900s when this bakery was established. Had a great feel to it which adds the experience and food. We had coffees and beestings. Best beesting I've had. Not too rich or sickly. Staff was reasonably friendly and I really loved the complementary ginger bread persons.

Lovely Bakery with seating outside. Delicious mini pies, pastries, cakes, breads and more. Friendly staff and great service offered by Alex. I enjoyed a Danish Custard pastry (OMG amazing sweetness) with a mug of Earl Grey tea and was given a complimentary mini Gingerbread Man :) It smells delicious in this Bakery! With a good variety of baked goods. There is a small bench inside and a few tables outside. No Wheelchair ♿ access due to the small entrance (original half double doors) but you can access the outside dining area. Watch out for the birds, they will steal your food if left unattended! I highly recommend you visit this Bakery.

This Bakery has changed little since I first visited in the 1950's. Still excellent quality, a good range of products, friendly service and reasonable prices. They now have a few tables setup outside, a great way to enjoy lunch.

Best little meat pies around. - One of the best bakeries around. I love the small pies and pasties. Means can have some variety and not feel bloated. It is positioned in a lovely little building in a side street in North Adelaide. They have been able to set up some tables outside, lovely spot to sit in to enjoy a hot pie. They also have a wide range of cakes for deserts. From donuts to Danish, all is delicious. I find the prices reasonable for what you get. Staff are friendly but most importantly efficient. Even when lined up out the door, they are quick to serve everybody.
