Went for a Sunday lunch as usual. Very attentive servers, perhaps a tad too attentive, can I read the menu before you start to hover. But that is not a bad thing I suppose, better than being ignored. Had the pork schnitzel on the bone with warm potato salad with chorizo. Absolutely delicious could not be more tender and juicy. Salad just the right touch to dispel any oiliness from the crumb. Best schnitzel I have had for a while. Wife had lemon chicken and artichoke salad, again beautifully done. Definitely on our to do list again. Well done.
Reviews can be misleading. I visited the Maylands for a working lunch with a couple of business contacts. I didn't pick the venue but once told where we were going checked it out on Urbanspoon so I was thinking that it was going to be a fairly crappy lunch.
I was simply wrong. Got there a little early and had a quiet drink waiting for the others. Nice layout, good looking dining room - and that evil gambling palace (?) well it was housed in its own room and I didn't even notice it till I went looking.
Menu and selection of dishes was good. The staff friendly and efficient. If I wanted to be incredibly picky perhaps they waited a bit too long to take our order but then there was much talking and discussion at our table. Quality of the dishes was fine - we didn't look at wines and only one member of the party had desert but no-one had any complaints. Ok they weren't crackingly busy - perhaps only 5 or 6 other tables and a party in their 'meeting room' but I saw nothing to support the negative reviews here.
Yep - I'll go again. Good food - not perhaps worthy of 3 Michelin stars but it's a pub folks so keep it in perspective. Good staff, good food, good lunch!
Fantastic. I really enjoyed my experience at the Maylands Hotel. I arrived after 8pm. Ordered the Chicken Kiev with blue vein cheese. It was delicious!
First time at the hotel and will be back for sure.
