We have been here time and time again although mostly just my partner and myself. We went with a group of 14 for my birthday and were not disappointed, they were able to bring all our meals out together and in a timely fashion. The meat is always of the highest quality, and sauces are not oily or runny. They never skimp on ingredients, and the spice level gives an authentic kick (just ask for mild if you're not very curry-tolerant).
Went with a group of 18 just recently, we got our own section of the dining room and we were sure to be annoying to take orders from. We were celebrating a 30th and couldn't stop talking. This place is great for couples and large groups alike. The food? Of course it was amazing yet again
Never had a bad experience here. Great, authentic food, humble service and priced fairly. Love your work clay & coal, will continue to be an extremely happy customer
Friendly service, delicious food, great value, easy parking, BYO. Have been to Clay and Coal many times and find the food to be consistently good. The eggplant masala is my favourite, we always order dahl and usually something from the specials board - often goat curry. They make dossa and can serve a plain dossa for the GF guests (not on the menu, just ask for it). We love the relaxed atmosphere and find the food on par with the more expensive Indian places in nearby suburbs. Have never found it difficult for vegetarian or gluten free guests. The signature dish is the prawn with basil and the squid with basil. I like the squid one, but apart from that don't tend to order the fish here. Always going back either to eat in or get take away!
Really like it.! Beautiful food at a great price. Friendly staff and clean peaceful environment . Always consistently good.
Great takeaway every time. The owner who takes the orders over the phone is extremely nice. The gravy in the curries is always smooth and tasty. Beware though, if you opt for the hotter dishes, you may get a shock. The vindaloo is extremely hot, and the Madras is also surprisingly hot. But the flavour in these dishes is still great.
Great naan too.
Faultless Indian cuisine. To say that my wife and I love this place would be an understatement! We have very high standards when it comes to food and this place never disappoints. Very affordable and consistently amazing. We order take out at least once a fortnight and its always fantastic, so much so that we decided to sign up to this website to leave a review. Try it, you won't be sorry.
Great little Indian place, nice feel. Fast service, very reasonably priced food. Staff are on point, service is great. Can't fault this place. Try the banquet, very reasonably priced at $33 a head. The entrees are to die for. Good value, you won't be disappointed. Try it out
My fiancée and I adore this place and keep going despite moving to the other side of town. The dishes and flavours and consistently great and the guy that runs it is so friendly and welcoming.
Clay & coal captured our hearts (and our tastebuds!) with our first encounter. Eggplant masala was delish.
Great food, great value, great staff. My favourite Indian in South Australia.
Very flavoursome, delicious, authentic indian cuisine. The food is prepared with natural ingredients which I love. I have a sensitive tummy so being able to eat Indian food here is a big deal for me! We met the owner/ head chef, who was very nice and accommodating to our needs. Highly recommend! (They even have Gluten free, lactose free and vegan options).
Lovely and authentic Indian restaurant. The owners are warm and generous, just like their cooking.
Must try: basil fish, eggplant and prawn masala
Always a go to when it comes to great Indian food especially kebabs and curries . Very warm and helpful staff too
The food is excellent! The friendly staff and excellent service make you feel welcome. This is a great restaurant. Even the bathrooms are clean and tidy.
