Simple, delicious food at a reasonable price. The menu is not extensive, but it includes a modern twist on most of the classics. The grilled cheese with local honey was fantastic. The fried local calamari was so delicious we order an extra serve. Regional restaurants can be hit and miss, but for this family if 5 it was most definitely a hit.
Lovely service accompanies delicious food. Really appreciated that the kids meal came out promptly. Notable dishes were the kefalagraviera
and juicy lamb rack - tender, cooked to perfection and paired with moreish melitzanosalata. Restaurant was very busy for a Sunday night but there was no more than a half hour wait for table of four and multiple shared dishes.
This is how you run a business. Had a great experience from start to finish.
My first interaction with this restaurant was to call and book a table, I was told they were busy and that the earliest reservation was 8pm, I accepted. I then received a phone call an hour later to say I could come in earlier. This proactive action was good to see.
The restaurant has a great atmosphere, obviously it is very popular and buzzing. The open fireplace was welcome on a cooler night.
We loved the politeness and attention of the wait staff, we felt cared for.
Food was great, calamari was tasty, fresh and very authentic. The steak was cooked medium rare, great char grilled favour with some nice sides to go with.
Overall a really positive experience. Definitely a place to visit if you are in the area.
Hot tip: Don't google image search the last dessert menu item. Tonight I learned the definition of a Greek word I had no idea about :-)
Whether one is judging the food, wine, service, ambiance or value for money, this is the pick of restaurants on the coast. Even if one is not a fan of Greek cuisine, it is hard not to be impressed. I will be making a la Grecque one of my regular stops.
The food and hospitality here was amazing. Ordered the whiting with cauliflower purée and leeks which was cooked to perfection. The grain salad was fresh and crunchy. The manager/owner and staff were very friendly. Great service. Would come back to this restaurant!
Came here on the way back from Lorne after spotting it driving past, do not regret it at all! Ordered my usual strong capp and it was incredible, fresh bread and butter was beautiful and staff were extremely friendly and attentive! :)
Just had dinner at A La Grecque. Wow. Been going there for years and tonight had two new dishes. Incredible food. Fantastic, friendly and well trained staff and wine list better that most in Melbourne. Thanks for keeping up your high standards even during the silly season!!
Wonderful dinner thank you. Best char grilled lamb, really well balanced flavours in all of the dishes. Leave room for dessert as again this is Greek food well worth seeking out. Topped off with an open fire and efficient friendly staff, what more could you want?

A La Grecque is an oddity. A Surf Coast oddity. The Great Ocean Road knows a fair bit of Greatness, but it has to peer in the Greek sphere when it comes to A La Grecque.
The Dear Luncher is always on the move and this time it was the Surf Coast. A La Grecque has a real charm about it. Quiet and peaceful with no music and very little chatter upon entry. This was actually a little unsettling to begin with.
Some starters were shared and main also ordered plenty of seafood and lamb for The Dear Luncher and his Lunching companions. As well as the saganaki. Well, specifically it was the grilled kephalograviera with watermelon rind pickle and pumpkin seeds. How's that for eclectic? Not being completely smitten by octopus and squid, lamb for was the mainstay for Your Dear Luncher's plate. For the entree: turkish flatbread, spiced lamb, herb salad, yoghurt tahini. This was probably the highlight.
Others enjoyed fried local kalamari, taramosalata, fried hot yellow peppers as well as the char grilled octopus, pesto, fennel with grapefruit salad. All beautifully presented and enjoyed by all.
For the main it was lamb again. Char grilled lamb rump. It was prepared medium rare and even though this does not bother Your Dear Luncher, one portion of it still had that white/fat element to it that looked and smelt quite overcooked. Apart from that one portion it was sensational.
TL;DR etc.
This is a must visit restaurant if you're in the area.
Quite a surprising find in the middle of nowhere. This is a restaurant you would expect to find in Melbourne. Quality is good as is the service. The menu is interesting with enough to satisfy the whole crowd. Greek meals are skilfully pated and well seasoned. Prices are a little on the high side here but you are enjoying fine dining even through this is Areys Inlet.
