I wasn’t expecting much for some reason, Altona Gate isn’t exactly a location that stars for food. It was better than I expected - especially the coffee! Best soy latte I’ve had in the area, they use excellent milk. The meal was pretty good - I got smashed avo and poached eggs on toast. They are NOT stingy with that avo, there was almost too much! The gluten free toast was good.
It doesn’t have the most inspiring of menus so I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way here, but I’d definitely stop past here for a meal or a coffee if at the Centre and hungry.
Love this place. So friendly, helpful, good coffee and food, it's my one place I have to stop by everytime I come to the shopping centre. Hanger cafe in Altona North is fantastic :)
Love the omlette and coffee, service is fast and good too. The cafe is spacious and the sittings are comfortable, is a good place for coffee catch up with friends. Would definitely be back.

hangar cafe have a $15 parma night every monday, which we obviously went to! extremely conveniently located, it's right the front of the Altona gate shopping centre entrance. as always, if a parma has ham on it then it automatically gets an extra star and this Parma had ham hallelujah!!! they also had multiple choices of parma styles as well. Parma wise, it was very good however did not blow our minds. Disappointed that the chips are under the Parma.
ordered the scotch fillet, comes with two sides and a choice of sauce. Ordered the salad & chips, mushroom sauce. Amazing. breakfast also yum.
Overall staff were good. Stacked trolleys passes by a few times outside the cafe, I think it just ruins the nice ambience of the cafe because it is just too loud.
I love the food here.
Just one time they burnt my nachos so badly i couldn't eat them but eh whatever the other food i had made me forget.
I just wish the calamari salad portion was bigger for the amount you pay because i love it.
Cafe delicacy in one word. We had burgers for $15 that were sumptuous and huge. We ordered one lamp and one grilled chicken burger. The lamb was very very tasty. It came with chip and amazingly garnish of fresh meat layers, sunny side up, vegetables and fresh crispy burger buns. I was so tired of soggy buns so far in most places. One of the best handmade burgers so far. The coffee was strong and inviting. The service was amazingly good. I loved the spread and the curtlery that were served. On the whole, a must go place for a wholesome meal.
Nice place for a business meeting in the morning. With Free (Working) WIFI provided by the shopping centre. Tuesday nights are famous for Steak Nights. Clean and nice food. Plenty of free parking in the shopping centre. We had Salmon and Steak, it was wonderful.
Pretty impressed! Coffee was good not too much froth (soy) and the thick shake was not too thick and had just the right amount of chocolate! Smashed avo was delicious and the big brekkie was huge. Bacon was amazing with a smoked flavour! Only suggestion would be to have house made hash browns instead of store bought. Staff were professional and polite. Kitchen staff looked well presented and clean. Will be back!
Been eyeing to try this new café since they opened a couple of weeks ago. The food is very good. The service is great. I personally do not like chatty servers esp when I am hangry :-). The young man who served us was attentive & polite. We had a very pleasant late lunch. Thanks Hangar, we will be back soon.
