Review Ipoh Parade Malaysian Restaurant - Armadale

Great food, reminds me of home! I highly recommend the Homemade Tofu with Broccoli and Minced Pork even if you're not into tofu, the texture and taste is different to your usual tofu. We ordered 6 dishes for a group of 5 and was enough for us. Other than the tofu, we liked the Beef and Vegetables with Cashew Nut as well, but really they were all delicious!

Really delicious Malaysian food and authentic as per my friends review as well. The staff are very welcoming and make dining in a lovely experience. Not to mention the $12 lunch menu is insanely good value. I have gotten the Laksa at least 12 times and I feel I am ripping them off only paying that much when it has chicken, bean Puffs, fish cakes, eggplant, 2 types of noodles and other ingredients I can't remember at this time. I need to come try the Sunday specials as they have some dishes only available whilst in stock on a Sunday.

Amazing service and the most delicious Malaysian food I've ever eaten. Authentic and delicious. Serving size wasn't big but I'd take quality over quantity any day and this place is not lacking in quality that's for sure!! Will be coming again for the delicious and tender beef rendang!

The best Malaysian local restaurant, you go for the food and service, not the decor. We always have the vegan meat dishes.WOW!!! Worth a visit if you’re a local. You won’t be disappointed!

Fantastic Malaysian Food! We are so glad to have found this little gem. The flavours are authentic with great prices also. One of our go tos!

Review: ipoh parade has proven its mettle in serving up solid Malaysian dishes. I ordered the hor fun noodles in egg gravy sauce (better known as wat tan hor) in Melbourne. Yes, I paid $14 but what I got in return made me feel like the price was somewhat justified (also, understandably the rent here would be higher here than other suburbs). There were generous amounts of fish cakes, chicken slices, prawns and even little squid slices. The best part was the noodles - it was charred quite perfectly, and when it’s paired with egg gravy sauce.... heaven. Do not forget to ask for pickled green chilli just for that extra kick in your meal. I have not sampled their other dishes so I guess this review feels somewhat premature. Stay tuned for more.

Good Malaysian food in Armadale. They made good lou yew sang for Chinese New Year. Decent selection of dishes. Love the ice lo hon guo dessert which was very authentic. Make sure you book a spot to avoid disappointment as there are not many tables in the restaurant.

Frequent client since its inception and my very initial discovery from its small advertising promotion. Heartily recommend this cosy friendly restaurant with excellent offerings..

Good authentic Malaysian food. They have Yee Sang for CNY too. Good friendly service. Parking is easy along High St on weekends. Definitely would recommend to others to try.

Excellent food and really friendly people. Love the tofu and wishing I have a bigger stomach.

I've eaten at most Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne and this has to be one of the best. The Chicken Curry Laksa and the Char Hor Fun are fantastic.

Best Chicken Laksa I have tasted in a long time ! Highly recommend ! Have ordered takeaway quite a few times now. The Laksa is packed with deep amazing flavours, the right amount of spice and a surprisingly fantastic variety of ingredients with quality pieces of chicken, puffy tofu, fish cake, okra, eggplant, mint, beans and both types of noodles. I would rate the chicken laksa 10/10! Very reasonably priced and service is friendly too. This is my ultimate comfort food !

Okay Laksa, tender chicken pieces, good serve size but the broth spoiled it for me. The liquid is not strained so it's thick with all the shredded and ground solids suspended in it. That may help extract all the flavour but it all becomes too thick and fibrous. Next time I get takeaway, I'll strain it first before mixing. Photo of the solids left after straining the liquid.
Sunny Days Melbourne
We came here for a Lunar New Year celebration and had a swinging good time with a couple of special dishes created just for the season. The raw fish salad was amazingly well balanced with a wonderful combination of sweet, salty, sour and bitter. We also had the fried chicken with a layer of prawn paste under the crispy skin - genius! The marmite chicken was also well prepared and went really well with rice. The fish was well cooked but the sauce was slightly bland.

Service was lovely. Armadale isn't a place usually associated with Malaysian food but Ipoh Parade is certainly going to change that!
Ralph
Chicken laksa and seafood does not even taste of anything except chilli. 80% noodles hardly anything else. Never order again off you thanks for NOTHING

Recommended highly by a few friends . Many selection and regulars . The combination noodles was very nice but the soft shell crab feels it being in cold storage for months .
Quince And Cheese
Wonderful Malaysian food, and one of the few spots in the area to get it. The space is simple but nice and service is too. There aren't tons of vegetarian dishes but many that can be made so, including the green curry and mapo tofu. Gado Gado and sambal eggplant are two great, naturally veg options.

Ipoh Parade - Armadale⁣
Chicken Laksa ⁣
Well folks, I’ve officially moved. I’ve left the ever so glorious, ever so scummy Chapel Street and have moved all of 2 minutes down the road to Armadale. I moved in at 12pm and I was at the local soup shop at 12:30PM. Ipoh Parade offers a sensational lunch deal - $11 for a bowl of laksa. Absolute bargain, they are giving it away at this price. Ever so friendly, the staff showed me to my seat and moments later brought out a piping hot bowl of Laksa. HOLY HAT look at all the bright, wholesome ingredients. I’ve never seen a laksa packed with so much amazing goodness! We had long beans, tofu puffs, eggplant, chicken, fish cake, vietnamese mint and okra. I feel shocked, I feel stunned and I feel silly… How have I not visited this place before yet lived so close? The attention to detail that went into this dish was unbelievable.. for $11 too? The broth was a good balance between creamy and savoury, not too sweet yet had the right amount of spices. I’m just gobsmacked.. If like me you were upset at the offerings of Laksa close to chapel street then be upset no more because here is your place. Get in there and get around this bowl of soup and support these homely restaurants that give us back so much in return. Smash that 4.5/5 button!⁣
⁣
🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢⁣
Broth Flavour: 🍜🍜🍜🍜/5⁣
Soup ingredients: 🍜🍜🍜🍜.5/5⁣
Service: 🍜🍜🍜🍜/5⁣
Overall: 🍜🍜🍜🍜.5/5⁣
🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢

The best laksa I have had in Melbourne. Better than Laksa King! The staff are super friendly and down for a chat as well. The laksa has a deep and tasty aromatic broth with heaps of delicious ingredients as well. They have mastered a dish that hasn't been mastered by many in melbourne!

Went here for a quick dinner. Ordered asam fish fillet, mapo tofu, mixed vege with beancurd and mushroom. Love the asam fish! The mapo tofu is an all time must have dish from this rest. On weekend always fully booked so go there on weekday instead
Stan
Tasty food and reasonable prices. I always get takeaway- usually the chicken laksa. Big portions and also great value if you purchase at lunchtime. The other day I tried the curry chicken with rice, also pretty tasty. Always flavourful and very quick service.

we went here for dinner just a few hours ago. we came just after a big group come earlier so that’s why we have to wait longer which is fine we don’t complain we understand. food came, the fried noodle kwetiow was bitter and burnt. the rest of the food order was good. we can’t eat the kwetiow unfortunately we ordered 2. but we didn’t ask them to make it again because we can’t wait longer as we came with our little son. so i came to the front of house guy to ask for the bill and in the meantime giving a feedback about the food. so surprised he gave an attitude and respond me that , that’s how they make it. and we have different taste with no apology. we happy to pay, as a customer we just give a feedback so they can improve next time. he should learn how to assist customers feedback better, we are genuine customers, and have been disappointed in the first time. not recommended
El Bee
Unassuming restaurant with exceptional home style, authentic cooking. Packed with flavour. Even the prawn crackers are the best I’ve tried. So yum.

Very basic interior.

However the food is absolutely gorgeous. We ordered
Char kuoy teow- pretty authentic and the best we have had in Melbourne so far.
Fried rice salted fish and chicken - it was good and not too salty. The perfect match.
Water spinach with belacan- nice ratio and not too little/much belacan. Ideal
Curry fish- the star dish. Reminds us of home. Only complain was that it had capsicum which was unusual
Yam basket - not oily and very good

Definitely a hidden gem of Malaysian restaurant. I will definitely be back !!

The food was good, simple Malaysian. Would definitely recommend.
Not a huge venue but the staff were very accommodating for a bigger group of three families.

What a find! Have been past this little gem on the tram and wanting to try as I just love Malaysian food. Got a take home order with lobak, hot & sour soup, beef rendang & combination ho fun with egg sauce.. Everything was made with love & skill. Definitely worth a visit!
Pmg Collectables
For a start, this place serves well flavoured Malaysian dishes. Was genuinely surprised at how good their dishes tasted. My favourite so far is the green curry beef and mapo tofu. Quantity of food given is decent (1 dish probably suffices for 2 person). Only thing is that their prices are dearer than some of my other favourite Malaysian/Indonesian food places which are located in Caulfied/Glen Huntly area. Other than the price being on the dearer side, I would recommend this place.

This place appears to be underrated here in Zomato. Whenever my husband and I have major Malaysian cravings, we order takeaway from here. We usually get the chicken curry or the char keow teuw. Lately, we have also been ordering the soup. Everything is really good. We came here once and decided to eat here. It may not look very fancy but the food was great. The wait staff was very friendly too!

Outstanding. Our new local Malaysian restaurant. Yam Basket with Kung Po Chicken, Mami Spare Ribs, Homemade Tofu with Brocolli and Minced Pork were all delicious. Excellent service too. Highly recommended!
NasiLemakReviewer93
Generous portions of delicious food at a reasonable price. Their tofu was phenomenal and their curry chicken was delectable. The nasi lemak though was a 7/10, not the best but pretty good. Service is amazing and staff is friendly. Will definitely be going back.
Mistermister
Nice local for Malaysian food. Chat Kwai Tao and Crispy noodles dishes were quite traditional with good char flavourings. Service was really friendly. Looking forward to try some of their others dishes
Borneo Warrior
Har Mee was authentic. Could have been at a hawker in PJ and not tell the difference. It's all in the broth. Will be back again to try the other dishes.
Hungry Piksee
Pretty decent Malaysian food. All dishes were of reasonable quality with fairly authentic flavours that seem to be as good as you can get in Australia. Stand out dishes are the Ipoh Hor Fun (fried rice noodles with egg gravy and seafood) which has the best wok flavour I've had yet outside of Malaysia, and the Tofu with Pork Mince (one of my go-to's, a Japanese tofu fried in egg gravy again and pork mince with steamed broccoli). Char Kueh Teow was a disappointment, much too sweet which distracted me from the rest of the taste. Will definitely go back to try more of the menu and either way it's a cheap feed if you eat Malaysian style and share everything.

Happy to find yet another Malaysian restaurant that provides comfort food from hometown . Affordable prices , generous portions and pretty delicious !

Best kept secret for Malaysian hawker food and dinner meals. It's great because - taste without the msg. Iconic m'sian dishes like laksa and char kway tueh have gain popularity in recent years in Melbourne but sadly it just seems like most eateries have resorted to substituting a departing chef with msg.
James Cairo
So good! Best laksa I have ever had. Nasi Lemak with Chicken Curry was devine and the Char Kway Teow was so authentic and delicious. Keep it up guys! Will be back whenever I am in Melbourne

Had CNY eve reunion dinner at Ipoh Parade last night with 10 adults and 2 kids. Food was excellent from Yee Sang to the mains. Very impressive and authentic food. Home made tofu, steam fish Assam style, marmite pork ribs, Seet and sour pork, yam treasure cove (yam basket) was yum.

Price is not too expensive. Service was great. We will be back for sure soon.

Got a flyer about Ipoh Parade in my mailbox and was curious. Went and ordered a chow kuey teow, but it wasn't that good. Hardly anyone in the restaurant - that should have been a sign

Have eaten here a few times, food is great authentic Malaysian for an exceptionally good price. Customer service is excellent, very attentive without being annoying. Highly recommended!!

Being a first time to Ipoh Parade, the food was generally ok, as it was standard Malaysian food, though generally overall it was ok, the Tom Yum soup was nice

Jason See

Good friendly local Malaysian. Ipoh is the second largest city in Malaysia with strong Cantonese and Hokkien influences. Food is very authentic and reasonably priced. Limited range of the Indian and Malay dishes but this is a good thing as the Cantonese hawker dishes are A grade

Great authentic Malaysian, having lived in Malaysia I haven't tasted authentic Malaysian like this in Melbourne. We ordered spring rolls, salted tofu, the home made Ipoh tofu, Singapore noodles, veggie hot pot and beef black bean. All the dishes were great but the home made Ipoh tofu stood out taking me back to being in Malaysia :) Staff was friendly and very accommodating.

Love Ipoh Parade. We have eaten in and have ordered lots of takeaways and all have been great! Their marmite spare ribs are to die for!! Great Service. Highly recommend for an easy night out or in

Very happy to find this place. Will definitely be back. Coriander prawn was a highlight. Neighbouring table pre ordered national dish of Malaysia - chilli crab, (not on the menu) and had lots of praise .... Will consider making that call myself next time. Waiting staff were a little stressed because rushed off their feet but were friendly and helpful

Great food, service and price. The food was fantastic but what really impressed was the lady serving us who went out of her way to find small cutlery for our 2 year old. Great value lunch specials at $10.

Tasty authentic Malaysian food & lovely owner!. We ordered the chicken laksa and combination hot fun which were both delicious and a generous in size. The owner was also very friendly ! Will return to try some other dishes and their $10 lunch specials !
