I’ve come here many times over the years and the food has been consistent and delicious.
This time we came for ramen. The tonkotsu ramen was rich but not overly salty, noodles were perfecty al dente. Sadly only 1 piece of chashu.
The spicy tonkotsu (Godzilla) ramen is not spicy, just warming. I wish they add bamboo shoots to every bowl of ramen.
Their pork katsu curry is amazing, lots of flavour and quite a large serve.
It is an authentic Japanese place.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, but the seating is a bit random and haphazard as you just choose your own spot, and can get quite busy. Sitting outside it's quite nice though.
I'm not a fan of the ramen here though, too salty for me.
Simple place, good flavour... Was craving Japanese food for a cold winter night and came upon this small simple looking place near artamon stn. We had hot chilli teriyaki and pork katsu Don, good flavour with great portion size.

Genki ramen is one of those hidden gems and I definitely appreciate that. No long lines but the food and service is excellent.
The servings are sizeable and great variety of ramen and rice dishes. The staff is really friendly.
Probably one of my top two favourite ramen in Sydney.

Genki reminds me a lot of sun-sun at crows nest. Sun has closed down as the plaza they were in was demolished. Glad we 'stumbled' into here after walking by a few times in the past. A basic ramen shop with outdoor seating staffed by real japs with traditional jap hospitality👍🏼.
Prices are down to earth, portions generous, served piping hot, noodles al dante, broth light and delish. Perfect for the coming chilly evenings😍.
Perfect! Perfect service and perfect food! My husband and I would move from our beautiful rural nsw country town to Sydney just to eat ramen everyday!
We love visiting Rahmen Genki because their menu is full of authentic Japanese dishes for reasonable prices. The food is hearty and guaranteed to satisfy (the Godzilla ramen bowl is HUGE, well-worthy of feeding a kaiju stomach).
Have been going there since 7-8 years ago. One of my favourite ramen places in Sydney. The place isn't too big but always have customers. My favourite ramen was the spicy one, perfect for winter. Portion was so big! I was on a cruise for a week, and before I got off the ship, all I crave for was a hot bowl of ramen, so we went, craving satisfied!
This was the place where I first tried Ramen so it holds a large nostalgia value for me. I used to get the Negri-Miso regularly. I once tried the shoyu and it was way too soy/salty. I haven't been game to try one ever again.
Great joint, great food, great customer service! Prices a tad bit expensive than usual but worth it. You've just earned yourself a regular customer!
This is probably one of the best Japanese restaurants in the northern part of Sydney.
Located in the quiet suburb of Artarmon near the train station, there are also some other Japanese restaurants and the stores nearby.
Ramen Genki is also famous hence there will be some queues of people during the dining time.
Cheese croquette is tasty and very succulent.
Tonkotsu ramen is tasty, but there is no protein or best in it 🧐.
Popular Japanese restaurant in Artarmon, and easy to see why! Authentic, flavourful dishes for decent value. Love the takoyaki - crispy on the outside, gooey in the centre, reminiscent of those in Japanese markets!
Ordered Tonkotsu Ramen, Shio Special and Tonkotsu Curry Rice. I like the Shio special Ramen as it is just a little spicy. Curry gravy was just perfect for my taste with chunky pork tonkotsu. Reasonably priced as well.
Homey Japanese food with generous serving sizes. It's not a place for thrilling food but it does fit the bill for a chill and not too expensive dinner.
BONUS: This place is dog friendly and allows BYO, there is a BWS just across the road on the other side of the station.
We had quick lunch on recent Saturday at this old Japanese casual restaurant in Artarmon. We ordered mix-don (a rice with fried pork cutlet tonkatsu and fried prawn ebi furai) and ton shogayaki don (stir fried pork belly with ginger sauce + rice). Both dishes are good authentic Japanese lunch staples and we love them. The mix-don is the better option and comes with nice miso soup.
The place is quite spacious and you can choose to sit inside or outside al fresco style. The ambience is reasonable for suburban casual restaurant. The customer services from staff members are reasonable as well. The menu items are quite extensive and prices are competitive with similar set-ups in Sydney. The best thing is that you can pay with all credit cards (including Amex) without additional surcharge - which is the best customer service practice.
Service is friendly, ramen was tasty. We ordered the classic Tonkotsu - which was delicious, garlicky and well balanced. Also ordered the spicy soy broth, but found it a bit too salty and sour (from pickles) to our palate.
Hole in the wall Japanese place with homely food and generous portions. The takana fried rice was the highlight. Ramens are not too bad either
Very cosy and comfortable atmosphere. Reminds me of the local Japanese restaurants in Japan. The food is very authentic and tasty. Friendly staff. 100% recommend!
