OMG the pork benny the best thing to come out or baby black and the best benny in town and as always the coffee was great
Great place, visited twice during our holiday. Service was great with friendly, attentive staff. Good menu and fantastic cakes. Hope to be back next time we visit Australia
I've had this dish a couple of times 'greens with poached eggs' sometimes better than others but just love those oily glazed grilled vegetables so good especially the zucchini
If you are ever in Bacchus Marsh you have to visit Baby Black cafe for it's country hospitality. In a cute little cottage, this cafe is a treasure trove of little rooms filled with an eclectic array of furniture and decorations. It seriously could pass as an op shop with its missmatched retro decor, but somehow it works. My only complaint would be that it can be a little dark, but everything else makes up for that.
There is also a great courtyard at the rear, which again is a hodge podge of garden furniture and decor; but in the warmer weather, is lovely to sit in. The service is friendly and pretty good, but can be a little slow in the busy peak times.
The country style counter is literally overflowing with an abundance of homemade cakes, pies, tarts, slices and scones. The refrigerated display also has many cheesecakes and creamy cakes to choose from. Whenever we visit town we pop in for coffee and cake, and I've never had a bad experience with the food. Everything is so tempting, and the pies in particular are a favourite.
The food menu covers a lot of cafe classics and everything looks great. Every time I've been here it has been a full house, which means it's a hit with locals and tourists visiting this charming village. What appears to be a humble cottage from the front hides a gem of a venue offering up delightful home style food with a friendly attitude.
Baby Black Espresso Bar, you'd be forgiven for missing this hidden gem in amongst the hustle and bustle of Bacchus Marsh. It appears from the outside, as an old miners cottage, but on the inside, it's soo much more! As soon as you pass through the doors at Baby Black Cafe you're transported into a quirky little dessert lovers paradise! Although small, this cafe is most certainly mighty! With three different sitting rooms, it's a little bit of a labyrinth, but it all adds to the quirky charm! There are music posters lining the walls, records adorning the walkways, old concert tickets hanging in door frames and occasionally, live music in the garden! There are mismatching chairs and tables from various decades, peeling paint, random decor, a cosy fireplace, and a cake fridge to rival the best of them! It's hipster, but it's the best kind! Believe me! I'm the first to turn my nose up and something that's hipster for the sake of being hipster, (ok now I've said hipster too many times) but Baby Black Cafe, it has charm, it has personality, it has a vibe, an ambience that is unlike any cafe I've frequented in my time, and it's addictive!

Food was great on the way back from our trip! Sourdough is the best here, I haven’t had that soft bread anywhere. Only drawback is my long black isn’t that great but food is good 👍🏼
Staff couldn't be more friendlier and the vibe of this place is quite relaxing despite it being quite busy some periods. Popular local hang out. Best outdoor space with a great vibe! Specials board is always worth a look!
I took my mother and In law here for the first time and we all loved it. It was so easy to find just off main road in cool funky house.
Such unique cafe and so much to look at
Lots of variety of healthy sandwiches and salads. Oh and lots of cakes and desserts too.
Cafe has plenty of seatings indoor and outdoor
Friendly staff and perfect place for families in the country.
A very “Melbourne” cafe in a small town. Love the old house and its interior. Great coffees and tea, food was yummy and fresh. Always busy and staffs are friendly. A rare find for a small country town!
I love this place it always reminds me of my RMIT days in the city...casual and relaxed with a hipster vibe🤓
The cake is always a winner and the slices are ample, I usually go for the toasted sangers but it changes sometimes and it's always good. Pick a room with an open fireplace, sit down, relax and read a book over coffee and lunch and your set for the day. Highly recommended
Our local coffee shop for many years now - love our weekend ritual of a morning take away coffee from Matt and gang in the Black Dahlia retro caravan parked outside. We are suckers for their fresh muffins and the hummingbird cake. Super friendly staff and great coffee keeps us coming back again and again.
Great service and decent coffee. The service was warm and friendly but the food took awhile to come, probably because it was so popular. I had the brioche special which had great flavor. Would've preferred a crispier bun but that would be my only critique. Would love to come here again in future.
