After reading the mixed reviews about the service, I was pleased to encounter down-to-earth and helpful service from the lady at the counter, and also the barista. Upon seeing my confused look on what to order, and the different types of rye bread on offer, both patiently answered all my queries and set me on the right track.
We tried the walnut and honey slice, Napoleon slice, beef Piroshki and almond croissant. All were delicious, especially the beef Piroshki. It was crispy, and stuffed with a juicy and meaty filling of beef and cabbage. Both the slices were perfectly balanced in sweetnes, with delicate and refined flavours.
It would be very uncharacteristic of me to leave a bakery without some bread, and I settled on the Borodinsky Rye. It was superb! The aroma was heavenly, and it possessed a dense yet moist texture. Taste-wise, there was a subtle hint of sweetness, and the signature tang of sourdough.
The skinny latte wasn't excellent, but it was certainly passable. Anyhow, with such delicious bread and baked goods, I'm content as can be.
Love this bakery. The bread here is fantastic, it's very wholesome. Especially the rye bread! Pastries are also delicious. Highly recommended.
Came here today on the pursuit of some fruit bread, and in true Maddie Style- came out with two loaves instead of 1. I wanted the traditional seeded fruit loaf but they had a new type available (Lithuanian Prune and Linseed Rye) and there were some samples to try. It was too delicious not to get! It was a fruit loaf, but had an almost savoury taste to it- it was quite dense but not dry and very delicious! The regular seeded fruit loaf was also incredible - delicious and soft with real hints of orange in there! This will become a regular purchase of mine!
