Very satisfied with the food. The forest mushrooms washy polenta was delicious and the meze platter has a nice balance of dishes and flavours. The ocean trout was a little overcooked but the sauce and riders that went with it is great. The service is great as well. The serving size for the mains are okay but would definitely recommend ordering sides or entrees. Roughly 40 a head not including drinks.
I would have to say this is the best restaurant on the Northern Beaches. I have now eaten there three times in the past month and the reason is that the moorish flavours and fresh ingredients are a rare find. There is something on the menu for everyone and all meals are beyond devine. The service is beyond compare. Jim, the restaurant manager is very attentive to what we felt like eating and made suggestions each time with a varying array of meals and wine to compliment each other. On our second visit I wanted to stick to what we had eaten the first time, as we thought we had chosen the best meals on the menu, but with each new visit and new recommendations from Jim our expectations were exceeded. The food is outstandingly flavoursome, incorporating flavours from the Mediterranean and Middle East. The portions are large, and we have often felt guilty not being able to finish all that has been served. I would have to say this is a restaurant deserving of Michelin status but I could not recommend a single meal as they were all beyond compare.
As of September, now open for lunch Mon - Sat. Posted a menu photo to check out. Great choice and daily specials. Delicious with the usual care in presentation. I've said before here is a gem in the wider Manly area and a diamond in the Balgowlah locale. Chef Phillip has made a brilliant transition from Avalon to create a menu with extraordinary variety and tastes - now centered around the Med and north Africa but not exclusively so. The care from the kitchen is remarkable given the few out there but delivery is timely and the floor under Jim, somewhat of a control master, is always about making sure the diners are cared for. I wouldn't normally review under Google (prefer TripAdvisor where I am a different identity) but I couldn't help responding to a dodgy and malicious review a while back which simply could not have been of this place. I'm a regular because it tries so had to deliver satisfaction - so rare in the tourist, poor service domain of Manly district.
