Located in the heart of Balmain, Kazbah is adored by the locals and I can absolutely see why!
If you’re looking for middle eastern food look no further than Kazbah! Perfect for seating smaller and large groups with options for banquet set menus.
I asked the waiter for a recommendation and he suggested the lamb tagine.
The lamb tagine was divine, super hearty and comforting on a winter morning. The Kazbah Mary was a great take on the traditional Bloody Mary with a kick of spice from their harissa mix. Accompanied with sides of hummus, haloumi, falafel and guacamole (which I highly recommend!)
Our breakfast banquet was complete and we all left well fed and content.
I will definitely be back again to try more menu items!
Had a very enjoyable visit to Kazbah, from the moment we entered we were greeted by friendly staff and the service throughout was consistent and to a high standard. Food was very flavoursome and well cooked; pork shoulder for two was so tender we broke it up with a spoon. We have also been for breakfast and the food is just as equally good! My wife says it's got the best Highly chocolate in Sydney too.Highly recommend visiting for a delicious meal.
After 20+ years of trading in Balmain, Kazbah seems to be a local favourite as it is full of families and large groups enjoying lunch on a Sunday. Serving modern yet warm and comforting Middle Eastern/Lebanese cuisine, my favourite dish here is the hummus bowl with pulled lamb – must try!! My sister's favourite was the
A Middle Eastern feed is always a feast, whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner. At Kazbah Balmain, you wouldn't expect anything less.
Breakfast lamb tagine ($23.50) was an absolute cracker, the perfect savoury dish with lamb mince, sausage, roast capsicum, caramelised onions and fried eggs. Well seasoned with a bit of heat to wake you up in the morning.
The Ful Medammas ($18.50) looked adorable in its black and white speckled bowl and was deceptively large for such a tiny dish. The beans were cooked well and added a creaminess to mellow out the zingy lemon juice and fresh shallots.
All the flavours on the zucchini and herb fritters ($20) complemented each other well and the egg yolk oozed out perfectly. Capsicum sauce could have been a little thicker and the actual fritters better seasoned but not a bad dish overall.
If you struggle to decide between savoury and sweet then the French Toast ($21.50) is definitely for you. Brioche French toast with bacon, glazed baby figs, mascarpone and apple cinnamon syrup, this is a decadent breakfast item for any customer. I liked the idea behind the savoury and sweet combination however felt that execution could have been better. The dish was overly sweet for my palate and the bread a little dry and hard. More colour was also needed to break up the uniform browness of the dish.
For drinks, I had the Sahlab ($5), a sweet milky drink made from orchid flowers and sprinkled with cinnamon. Absolutely loved this drink, surprising light but a beautiful sweet note running through it. I would return for this alone!

My thanks to Kazbah Balmain and Food Shot for the invite!
I dined here on a Saturday morning for brunch. There were plenty of tables and we were seated immediately. We were offered water and menus upon being seated. For a drink, I had the pineapple mint and lime juice which was made fresh, served cold and was delicious. For the main dish, I had the potato feta cake with smoked salmon, creme fraiche and pickles. The serving was generous and the dish was well seasoned. Another notable dish was the Bisteeya which is a baked filo pastry filled with chorizo, prawns and cheese. It is also served with an avocado salsa and labneh. I hate a bite and would definitely order this next time. I thoroughly enjoyed both dishes and the juice. Brunch will set you back under $30 for a main dish and a drink.
Had the banquet for 27 pp today for brunch - so much food! Everything was delicious - from the sweet cous cous to the complete savoury breakfast! Really interesting menu and so different from the usual brunch affair in Sydney ☺️ can't wait to go back!
Checking out something different for breakfast at Kazbah. I had the Spicy Moroccan lamb mince with hummus & pinenuts on pita bread. It was very nice but very filling. My hubby thought it was too meaty for breakfast but I liked it 😊
My wife and I had both of the breakfast tagines. The food was very tasty and the waiters were nice. Relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. You can find the prices on their website.
Can't say enough good things about the Balmain venue. The service is phenomenal, the quality is second to none and the portion sizes are incredibly generous. Prices and value for money are on point. Fabulous coffee, juices and cocktails to boot. All of the food is intense with flavour and unlike anything I have found elsewhere. I've lost count of the amount of times I've been here and I've never been underwhelmed. The gentleman with the glasses that works here (who I think might own the restaurant?) is the loveliest man and seems to truly enjoy his job. He is a fabulous host with impeccable timing - friendly and available when you need something but not intrusive or overbearing.
The breakfast banquet is a must for large groups.
