Food 4/5!
Really authentic Malaysian food. Try the char kway teow, the fish head noodles or chicken rice. All taste great and are fresh with fair sized servings
The place is a little small and can fill up so keep that in mind when coming on a weekend time. But would definitely be worth it regardless
I have this place bookmarked but I have forgotten all about it until I was in the area and was looking for somewhere to eat. A little bit hard to spot at night, look out for the red star at the shopfront. Nothing fancy here but you know it's the food that you're here for.
We tried the Hokkien Noodle, Classic Yong Tofu, Bak Kut Teh and the Nasi Kerabu. First and foremost, let it be known that the Hokkien Noodle has bits and pieces of pork lard scattered on top. Take my money and get in my belly!
The Hokkien Noodle and Nasi Kerabu showcased incredible depth of flavour, and had each ingredients coming together to create an exceptional dish. The broth for the BKT and Yong Tofu was somewhat more demure than I would liked, but still tasty in its own right.
The fried chicken that came with the Nasi Kerabu was fantastic. Juicy, tender and generously coated in spices. The sambal is also a must try. Such piquant flavours that goes so well with any of the dishes here.
It was too cold to try the ice kachang but according to the owner, it's as authentic as you can get! Judging by the delicous ondeh ondeh that we had, I don't doubt him at all.
Another spot for you to try Jojo Armani!
Another Malaysian cafe to add to the growing list!
They do pretty good wat tan hor (sar hor fun - call it what you want) and their chilli/sauces selection is pretty darn good for an avid chilli sauce lover!
Have been here quite a few times when I'm in the neighbourhood and have eaten a range - from their fried rice, bak kut teh, marmite chicken, laksa, ckt. Great food, but do prepare to leave with a wok and fried smell on your clothing!
Overall it's not a bad place, can be at times quiet, maybe because not many people know about it yet! It is further down from the stretch of shops along whitehorse road.
