Review An Restaurant - Bankstown

Phong Tran
I have no hesitation in saying that while this place is simple and unsophisticated, it is indeed a truly amazing dining experience! New to pho I had tried a couple of times to make my own with limited success. This is the benchmark place and the signature taste has people flocking back again and again.

Some of the best pho I have had in Sydney. Delicious broth and generous portions. Food came out really fast and the vibe was good. Cash only so be prepared.

Super quick service, cash only. The beef noodles are excellent here. A bit on the pricier side. I would recommend the large raw beef noodle. No English menu !

This place was a childhood favourite due to the quick service and the tasty broth. However my last visit wasn’t as good from memory. They still have a good portion of meat but the quality has really gone down. The meat had a weird aftertaste I didn’t enjoy. Really big restaurant and nice environment though but the quality has gone down since a few years ago.
Andrew L
Tasty pho broth and generous with the meat. We tried a chicken and beef pho, and both were very tasty. Both were served up within minutes of ordering too. At $17 for medium and $19 for large, it's a little pricier than other pho places however, we weren't disappointed with the quality.

I’m going to report to the police for drug use in the Pho broth 🚨🚨🚨 jokes aside, the freshness and the use of different parts of one single meat source for a complex yet easy to eat dish - made this place my favourite restaurant in Western Sydney! Absolute destroyed the bowl in 5 minutes after a 40 minutes drive to this place, if you come to Sydney and ask to show you around, be prepared with an empty stomach 😁😁😁 and cash too because they don’t do card 💰💰💰

This restaurant is an absolute Sydney institute and a must-have for pho. It's been my go-to pho place. The pho here is extremely beefy and flavourful. The beef is tender, and the tendon and tripe are super clean, no organ smell at all. Order the beef pho (number 9) large and you won't be disappointed. Don't forget to ask for their garlic chilli oil too.
Jenny Han
Pho is their specialty, but it feels odd that I am paying $16 cash for a bowl of it in Bankstown. Maybe my tastebuds have changed, but I was not necessarily blown away by their pho. Have been blown away by one pho shop in my life, and that was Pho Tau Bay
Joseph Truong
Inconsistent tasting pho, overpriced and overrated. Sometimes it’s okay, sometimes it’s salty and sometimes it’s just watered down way too much. Better pho around the area. Only go there when other people want to try it. But wouldn’t recommend, kinda just based on luck tbh. Much disappoint.
Robert Stemp
Very nice quick,a bit too quick, wet table, tried to ask for a drink the waiter disappeared, and cash only had to go out to get cash then come back.

We have been going to An Restaurant for 16 years. Never had problems. Services are great. Friendly staffs. Kids friendly. Foods are fresh and quick. Always have extra satay sauce. The 3 colours beans are awesome. Highly recommended. Best of the best in town.
Marie Dinh
Super fast service, there were staff everywhere ready to tend to our every need. Food was fresh, delicious, a huge serving & the restaurant was spacious & clean. Highly recommend!
Sarah Chiu
Overrated and expensive. We was there with 4 kids 6-9 yrs old and they gave them plastic bowls which was so wore out that I wouldn't even gave it to my dog. Then I requested it to be replace for China bowls for 3 kids. I guess they're not happy about the exchange. The Sate sauce usually it come with the Pho order but they never delivered so I have to request for it. So much for service I decided to walk over and got a spare small bowls and the waiter came and told me the empty bowl would cost me $3.50 each. So bring you own bowl to Pho An could save you $3.50 The Pho soup base is not strong taste for that fancy prices
Vickie Xu
Charge $3.5 for an empty bowl. What a rip off! A very unpleasant experience. Not worth the money. Def not coming back!
Stephen Chui
The special beef combo was simply amazing with lots of bean sprouts and basil. The best in Sydney!!! It was worth driving all the way from Chatswood to Bankstown!
Sarah Victoria Howell
My favourite food in the world, I could literally eat pho from here for every meal!
Phillip Ng
Terrible service. Can't believe $3.50 for a spare bowl. Condescending and terrible tone as if it was a crime to request. Not acceptable.
Jack Liang
Fastest pho in Sydney. Soup was hearty. Portions were generous, although a little bit pricey. Definitely worth the visit.
Raymond Duong
Always the go to place for some comforting beef noodle goodness. Somehow the noodles tend to taste better in the morning than in the night.
Lum Kit Loh
I been there many times. Expensive for pho. Quality is inconsistent. When it is good, it's the best pho in Sydney but often the quality is mediocre
Alison Gaunt
Walked in and the smell took us straight back to Vietnam. . We live 45mins from here and will definately be back ..
Zharisse Dale Ruiz
the best pho in Australia! we always visit this place at least once a month.
RJay Heinze
The best Pho spot in Sydney, super quick service, great food, and priced awesomely. Can't complain and it's always full. That says it all.
Clem Seeto
The pho restaurant in Sydney quick and efficient service....friendlly...recommend anyone...
Jacky Li
much overpriced and decreased quality. this is what happens when a restaurant becomes successful. also $3.50 extra for a bowl to share food with your friends, can't be kidding me. gonna try pho an instead from now on

So nice

The soup is ok however I need to share a story which has left a bad taste im my mouth and has stopped already 10 of my friends going or myself - EVER! Thankfully we found a new place!!!

I have surgery coming up and part of my prep is clear broth liquids etc. I used to go to Pho An religiously (since I was 10 years old) but have not been for ages! I ordered the broth to eat in and some broth to takeaway. Once I finished drinking the entire soup (no noodels, no beef and no sprout beans etc) I was presented with the bill which I wanted to pay via Pay Pass. I was treated like a THIEF! The lady serving me was very rude and ushered me to the lady at the counter who claimed to be the owner. I pleaded with her saying I'll pay pass or transfer cash as I had no card on me. The 'Owner' was RUDE informing me they have been like this for 30 years and (as if) it was my fault for not being prepared. I was also being stared at by all staff and it was humiliating. I have never in my life experienced anything like it. I was then forced to give her my electronic ID. The lady continued to the back out of sight with my phone. I was feeling mortified. I expressed to the owner (who spoke very good english) that this is humiliating and she couldn't care much about how I felt.

I left the restaurant humiliated and cried in the car. I called my friend who lived in Padstow and she said she would give me money and she would never go there again!!! I called the owner to infomer her I am coming back and expressed to her how I felt - again she didn't care!

I got the money and returned to pay $17.50 for broth only which is fine but being treated like a thief!!!! I asked for the copy of my license that was taken to which the owner laughed and said the copier is broken so she took a blank copy..... UNACCEPTABLE!!!!! I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!!!! Nor will my family, friends or regulars I have told about this! If you look at the reviews most say the soup is great but staff are not so good. So Pho SO BAD!!!!
Claire F
Basing my review off their combination beef pho. Super tasty and comforting! The soup is so flavoursome and I can totally understand why this place is so popular and rated one of the best pho places in Sydney. Only downside to the combination beef pho for me was the tendon. It was very tough and hard and I had to leave a piece behind because I couldn’t even bite into it. I expected the tendon to be super soft and melt in the mouth like some I’ve had in the past. Nonetheless, still a very enjoyable meal! A bit on the pricier side at $16-17.50 for a bowl of pho but staff were pretty efficient! Would come back but not my favourite pho place in Sydney in my opinion. Also, take note it’s a cash only restaurant.
Made Like Mum's
Was the best pho in Sydney since I was a kid and still is in my opinion. Generous serves, and flavoursome broth, good quality beef and silky noodles. The fact that its always packed should tell you how good it is.
Su Lwin
They only offer one dish here: pho, in both chicken and beef varieties. Dishes here cost under $20, and they have versions of pho containing cuts of different kinds of chicken or beef. The ambience here is basic, and they accept cash only. Service is efficient, but impersonal.
Jay Seo
I like the food here, but the fact that they only accept CASH, and charging $2 surcharge per person on public holidays are just ridiculous.
Mily Hoang
There was a lot of hype about this restaurant so o decided to try the pho here but It was not as good as I was expecting in my opinion. Also quiet pricey compared to other pho restaurants!
Arjay
One of the best phos in Sydney with fresh ingredients, a large helping serve of tender meats and delicate noodles. Broth can occasionally be inconsistent in flavour, although always a family favourite. Service is efficient, but be wary of surcharges on public holidays and for shared bowls.
Cindy Hoang
My go to pho place, though it is a bit pricier than other local places it is definitely worth the price. Lovely spacious restaurant with many attentive staff. I would highly recommend visiting!
Mr. D
I have been coming here for years, ever since high school so for about 16 years now. The pho is great never a let down the only thing that keeps going up in this place is the price. To this day I still cannot justify $3.50 for a spare bowl.
Inky Lai
Very disappointing experience, came back because it was great 20 years ago. Not any more. The stock is black in colour which is a no no to a Pho's connoisseur, stock was also bland, may be I came early in the morning and they just put the bone in the stock pot, I should let it simmer for 24 hours and come back so I wont be disappointed. The service here is good as the waiter stand right behind your table, watching you like a hawk, as the rule stated you must paid at your table, so he's just doing his job I guessed......Awkward........and there's other dozen of ridiculous rules, after some investigation in the community, I find out 80% of Vietnamese had drop this restaurant, now I know why. The rules also state if you ask for extra empty bowl/cup you must pay $3 - $4 per item, (leasing fee of utensil), no more black bland stock for me, learned my lesson. You must also pay in Cash, (tax issues?)
Krisly
Not worth the long que. Disguisting and horrible service. Some of the waitresses there are too busy standing there staring into the ceilings and walls, rather than look at the customers in need. I had to ask waitresses for things twice. They had many staff but are atrocious. They look like they can’t be bothered working. The meat had a foul smell and taste. Won’t come here again.
Evelyn Chen
This is the place if you wanna have pho. Their pho was so delicious that I even tried to finish my soup and order another bowl. Their service was also efficient. I was really surprised how my pho was ready in such short time. Although the price was higher than other pho places but it’s worthy.
Vivian
Pho is really average and overcharged $17.5. This restaurant charges few dollars for an empty bolw or sate sauce. That's really ridiculous. Service is poor. I don't recommend it.
Jess Krishnaswamy
The best Pho in Sydney, hands down. Beautiful clean tasting broth, and so reliably great each time. Efficiency of service is also unbelievable, from arrival to a bowl of soup at your table barely ever tops 5 minutes.
The Viet Guy
$17.50 for a Pho bowl? No thanks. Who do they think they are? I have ate here several occasions in the past. Being a Pho lover myself, this place is just OK. Yes, just OK. The broth and soup is OK. The meat is just like any other Pho shop meats they serve and the rice noodles as well. The tea they serve on the other hand was really great, which I loved.
When I came here it was $16.50 for one large special bowl which was a lot pricer than my favourite Pho restaurant in Sydney, Pho Tau Bay in Cabramatta, which is $16 for a large special bowl (which I recommenced you to go if you haven't already!). However, having recently increased to $17.50 due to 'surge in meat prices', I can assure you that I will never come back here again. I'd recommend just going down the street to an alternative Pho restaurant which probably just sells for $12 - $15 and WILL taste the same.

Great food, fresh produce and not to mention fast service . Definitely on the very pricey side for pho. Would still recommend for those who want a hearty meal
Molly Chen
From young we were always told this was the best place. It is the most expensive Pho place. Service is good, Pho is good but not the best. Restaurant is very very clean
Lynda Tran
Great and fast service! One of the best pho places ive been too. Dont forget to ask for their chilli oil its amazing. Restuarant is very nice and clean.
則卷小雲
Far too expensive, not worth in terms of taste of PHO is just normal and the ice coffee is $6, it's 1/3 size of what you pay for iced coffee or Asian iced milk tea in Sydney. I could not understand why they are so expensive compare to other PHO Vietnamese restaurants
Strawberry_vee
An Restaurant is a much talked about Vietnamese restaurant that specialises in Pho. I tried their raw beef pho and it does seem to meet all the hype. I was also impressed by how quickly it was served.
Katerina
This place is the perfect place for a cold night. The broth is rich and fragrant. This place is great place for a night out with the fam or by yourself. The staff are everywhere, providing great service. This place is amazing as the atmosphere of people in and out constantly all satisfied from their pho. 🍲
Jo Shen Wong
One of the more expensive Pho places, but they don’t stinge on portion!!! If you see a long line don’t worry turn over is very fast.

Secret tip: Ask for beef oil and add the chilli oil makes it a different dish!

Instagramable : ⭐️⭐️
Price : ⭐️⭐️
Food : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My go to place for pho. It's the best in Sydney. Been coming to this restaurant for pho for many many years now. I've had pho at other places and it just doesnt compare. This place churns over numbers very quickly. Cafeteria style dining. Place your order and in less than 5 mins your noodles make it to the table. Cant have pho anywhere else but here. Loses a star as the floor is quite dirty with food scraps on the ground.
Vicnifer's Food Reviews
Thanks for the meal!

Ordered pho tai.

I understand that this place is somewhat of an institution when it comes to pho and have been here once every 2 years or so. I always thought of it being a somewhat slightly above average pho. Today I revisited but the pho was definately below average. Felt watered down and the expected complexity of beefy aromas of pho were just not there. The soup was served warm and hence the raw beef that was supposed to cook in the broth failed to. There is simple no passion in this pho any more.

It is also quite expensive at 17.50 for a large bowl and 7 for a chè Bà mau (3 coloured dessert) which was essentially all ice!! Very disappointed in the chè.
Martineats
Been going here since i was young and it never disappoints!!!. The price of a pho bowl may be reasonably high but the quality and quantity of the pho really compensates for it! This restaurant is hands down the best pho place in western sydney at least!!
What To Eat By @soniadisha
AN RESTAURANT @BANKSTOWN✨🍜

Was recommended to tryout their pho noodle, came here for dinner and it was pretty pact.

The place was quite spacious and you can see bowls of vietnamese pho noodle stack on top of their table. Ordered their beef pho noodle, and within less than 10 minutes our food arrives.🍜🍜🍜

It was really fast, which means they have a pretty fast customer turnover. My bowl was boiling hot, and I had to wait several minutes before being able to enjoy it. Their broth was delicious, fresh and rich of flavors. Their noodles are perfectly cooked, the meat was nice and tender.

I would definitely come back, and super worth it coming all the way to Bankstown for their noodles.

Rate? 4✨
Foodfun
Yummy but Pricey!
$5 extra for a few beef balls as it does come with the special beefs
Service is fast and efficient but not very friendly. Must order straight away as they sat you down.
Boliver Lee
After much hyped, decided to try this Sydney institution. Probably the best pho I have had in Sydney. If you want the best pho in the world go to Vietnam if you want a close second I’ll see you in Vancouver. Brought 3 of my Vietnamese Canadian friends here and they all said it was not as good as places in van.

We have been searching for a great Pho restaurant since we have moved from Brisbane and have tried many disappointing ones compared to our favourite in Brissy. Finally An Restaurant is the one. Great flavour in their soup and efficient service. We had combination Pho. The only thing missing is the cubes of congealed pork blood. The Pho in Sunnybank has them.
Rice Ball
We were told this is the best pho place in Sydney by some locals and on arrival, it was packed and although there was a queue we got a table quick. They specialise and only serve pho here!

Food: we ordered the special beef pho with every condiment and extra bowl of egg yolks on the side. $15.50 for a medium bowl is quite steep from what I’m used to in Melbourne. We have amazing pho for $9.50-15.00 max size. I thought the soup was really flavourful and rich with beefy flavours and appreciated how they loaded up the bowl with meats! I guess you can justify the price at the end of the day. It was a really good meal!
Sweet And Sour Fork
An Restaurant seats a whopping 200 people, and as a result, they’re slinging so many bowls of noodles that my Combination Beef Pho ($15.5, medium) comes out within 2 minutes of ordering. Before I dump in my customary half cup of sriracha, I try the soup. It was phenomenal. Each sip was saturated with the aroma of beef bones and spices, and just a hint of sweetness. The warmth of the roasted ginger and onion gave the soup a substantial body and a lingering richness. It was all very umami, but not in the way that would make you suspect MSG. It almost seemed wrong to add chilli sauce to it.
Babybao
Pho An is very popular and almost always busy. It specialises in pho so there aren't any rice dishes or vegetarian options, there is the option of beef or chicken pho which comes in two sizes. The restaurant is spacious and clean. Service is quick. The pho dac biet doesn't come with meatballs so I have to order them on the side. The price here is considerably higher than that of the restaurants in the area however worth it.

Always come here to Bankstown just for their rare beef noodle soup. Been here countless times and never disappoints. The soup is the best iv’e had in sydney so far and i would definitely recommend for all the Pho lovers out there!
Keep in mind though...
Price is on high side- $15 for regular
Extra bowl costs $3.5 :(
Tim Chan
One of the best places for pho!

We came here for none other than their infamous beef pho and we were not left disappointed.

From the moment you walk in you are given a table from one of their many waiters/waitresses. At the time we went, the decor was quite modern but had the design of a cafeteria.

i ordered the cooked beef pho, which comes out within a minute. However, unlike other pho place the broth is not flaming hot, but hot enough too cook the beef had I gotten the raw beef noodle soup. The broth taste amazing with less of the salty msg taste and more of a true beefy taste. Herbs wise, they are a bit more on the lesser side but will give you an ample supply of bean sprouts.

Overall for the price (~$16) you get a good bowl of pho to warm you up, but this restaurant is likely not the one for a long family dinner. Especially considering they have a very limited menu of just pho (which is not a bad thing).
The Next Rush
Pho the love of God!! This is going to be the perfect place for a quick feed of satisfaction during the winter. Beef and Chicken combination! Yum Yum
Alan
Though at the pricier end of pho places, I believe Pho an is worth every cent of the hefty price tag. Service is sharp and snappy with meals coming out in a couple of minutes. The broth is incredible and holds lots of beefy flavour - I am not a fan of "ruining" my broth with volumes of sriracha and other sauces; the broth is perfect as it is. The beef is soft, and when dipped in hoi sin sauce is sheer perfection. Overall, if you have an itch for good pho this restaurant is the place for you.
LP
The broth was too salty and the side dishes look so dead like the beansprout was looking a bit brown and the mint leaves look like its doesnt have a life.
The Engineer Eats
An restaurant in Bankstown - the only restaurant here where you have to queue for a bowl of pho! And it’s a long queue! They only sell this one dish, chicken and beef pho!

Luckily the queue moves quite fast as it’s a eat and go kind of restaurant. The broth was quite flavorsome and you can get a variety of beef cut with it.
Andie Lam
Pho An is a bit expensive $16/large bowl. Their medium cook beef Pho is good but beef ball is poor. Cost $7/bow of beef ball. Their beef is tender, their noodle is good did not feel like dry noodle, sate sauce is good but the broth? FULL OF MSG, that you will always end up drinking a lot of water after the meal. Yes it is authentic Pho but I cannot stand that MSG and terrible meat ball m. Sometimes the staff cannot wait to clean up the table to get you out of there for the next person. So there is no way I am coming back.
Honestyinc
This is the first place I ever tried Pho and is the benchmark that I compare all Pho to unfortunately they all fail to top or in most cases come close to the pho served here which is why I have been coming back for over 20 years.
The pho with rare beef is the must try If your brave you can try some of the more exotic variations (tripe etc) of this dish.
The service is faster than fast food but bring cash because like most Vietnamese restaurants cards are not accepted.
V
I’ve eaten here twice. The first time I got pho raw beef and it was delicious. The second I got pho with cooked beef and it was so fatty. I was kicking myself that I didn’t get raw. I was disappointed second time round.
Joanna Luong
Anthetic food, best pho in Sydney area but a bit pricey. It’s the best choice to have pho during winter and you can always ask for more bean sprouts~
HungryBabesSugarApe
Simple, straight forward and well drilled. Like a well oiled machine! The menu is simplified to just pho with different cuts of beef or different cuts of chicken; with medium or big servings.

We were quickly set down on arrival & orders taken via electronic gadgets. Food was prompt and hot. Chilli was “oh so” spicy and delicious.😋

We’ll definitely be back when in the area. Is it better (or cheaper) than those in the Ryde area? Nope.

Kelly Lim
Heard so much about this place. Finally made a trip. Worth noting before visit: they only serve Pho. So if you’re looking for other Vietnamese dishes, you’re at the wrong place. Service was real quick, outlet was clean, and food portion was good size. Flavour wise, it’s good yummy. I like it when the Pho soup itself while flavourful, it does not have an oily texture/aftertaste. Neither does it taste laden by msg/salt. I had the brisket and it was boiled till tender.

Only complaint, my soy bean milk was pretty diluted.
Riceflakes
Above average special beef pho. Your order comes out literally 1 minute after you place it. I'd been there 3 times now and the pho is not very hot when served. Wish they would serve the broth super hot!!!!!!! Also they're generous with bean sprouts but they are stingy with the herbs.
Aguala Celfred Lagrio
Bad timing with a grumpy staff not allowing us to go in. I was there 13mins before closing time. One crew gave me table 14 but I couldn’t order until everyone is at the table., So I went by the door to signal my other family members to hurry up as they were still parking. When I went back in still few mins before closing I was told we can only order take away. We obliged with take away since we drove 30mins to get here only to be served with a freakin cold soup! Not edible at all with the raw meat! Very bad experience!
Roxy Xie
a great pho place in bankstown. But it is really taste good ! a wonderful place for Vietnam cuisine. There is a lot people during lunch time, but the turn around ration is quick
WESTERN SYDNEY BLOGGER
Just your average Sydney girl who loves a bowl of pho! This was the first place I was brought to try it and I keep coming back. So yuuummyyyy!!
Andrew C
The pho is quite good. It has a fast food vibe to it. Very limited menu (Beef or Chicken pho). Servings are very large. Because of the limited menu, the food comes very quickly
The decor could really use a revamp though.
Jodan H
THe price is so expenses here. $16 for a bowl. But it was well worth it. The meat is so soft and fresh. The soup is so addicting, once you start you cant stop.
I take all my vietnamese friends here and they all like it to.
Ming Q. Liu
Best pho place ever. Quick service. Good food.
Always busy.
Cash only but. Forgot to carry cash in wallet and had to go and withdraw money.

Will always go back if no accidents.
Al C
One of the best pho in Sydney. You have to go with the beef based. Chicken is not as good, other places do chicken pho much better. Overall awesome place, sometimes on the weekend you’ll have to line up
MizTea_SydneyFoodCritiX
I love pho, and this place is known to be one of the best... I am suspicious if it's full of MSG lol who knows and who cares it's so yummy! And always busy... but I don't know why charge extra for lemons? Lol all my other pho places don't. I give 3.5 purely on my speculation of MSG being used. And sharing of tables... not a fan of that. I get grossed out watching other 'random' people eating in front of me... it's a condition! I must know the person that is on my table while eating even on the train- i would move carriages to avoid it lol I'm precious like that- please don't judge me 😅
JDub
One of the best chicken phó I've ever had! Soup is super tasty and herbal, don't sense there's any MSG in the soup either. Portion size are great too. I always travel to eat this phó!!
Besti5518
Highly recommended!!! Been thinking of eating pho for a week finally get to eat it. Great service and excellent food. Very easy to find the place just 5 mins from the station.
Pinicolada
Quick service, like instant. Noodles a bit pricey. But still my go to pho outlet for 20 years. Other pho outlets just don’t produce noodles of the same caliber. The flavours in the soup is stronger, the satay sauce consistency is on point.
Cinntonic
Great pho, generous servings. Beautiful fresh ingredients - crisp sprouts, vibrant lemon, smooth noodles, tasty broth and plenty of condiments. Super efficient service and staff, seated and eating pho in 3mins flat.

Came here 7 years ago with a friend for the best pho in Sydney, glad I stumbled across it again today!!!
Naughtydok
One of the my favourite Vietnam noodle soup restaurant in Sydney with nice and neat place. I hope this restaurant long last and I want my kids to taste this beautiful taste.
BernClay
This is my first try and the last. Only can choose either beef or chicken pho. I prefer more varieties than simply beef or chicken soup noodle. Taste is okay (feel the msg, very thirsty after) but not worth. Environment is like a fast food shop, eat and go.
Coco And Vine
In Short: An Restaurant in Bankstown is the place to go for a Pho fix. There are variations of chicken and beef pho, and that is all that’s served for the main meals. There are a selection of desserts to choose from as well.

There’s a battle being waged in the south west of Sydney. It’s a battle for the crown of the best Pho in the land, or even perhaps outside of Vietnam. I know, a big call, but having tried Pho in other parts of Australia and throughout the world, it’s hard to go past the quality of Pho that can be had in Sydney. The two suburbs waging the battle are Bankstown and Cabramatta. Both suburbs and the surrounding areas have a number of little eateries that specialise in Pho. Those in the know are either one of 2 camps; they either love Pho Tau Bay in Cabramatta, or An Restaurant in Bankstown. Both have been part of the landscape for many years, and as is the case for An Restaurant, it’s been a mainstay in Bankstown for over 20 years. An Restaurant are so confident about their Pho, their large dining space is wholly dedicated to it.
Benkyousuru
From word of mouth, this is the best pho in Sydney. Inconveniently located at Bankstown but went nevertheless for nostalgia sake. Both exterior and interior hasn't changed since my first time. A huge dining hall appears after passing through two doorways. Neatly aligned tables and padded chairs spread evenly across the area. Condiments and utensils were placed in the center of each table. After taking a seat, the employees promptly came to take our order.

The pho was steaming hot and topped with a mound of coriander. The beef and bean sprouts were added to the pho and cooked gently with the residual heat. Eat mouthful was a umami bomb. Subtle spices and sweetness from the broth amplifies the umami. The flavours were nostalgic and remains as the benchmark for pho.
Atomic Maton
Travelled all the way down from Brisbane to try this Pho, and I am satisfied. Although it is a little expensive for a 'local' restaurant.
The aroma is good, and the flavour is well balanced with minimal fat, but it is lacking the 'beef' bone flavour in its soup. The rare beef and brisket are nice, being lean and tender.
There is slight hint of MSG, but no where near as much as others I've eaten, with less thirst after the meal.
ChippityChirp
This unassuming restaurant serves some mean pho in a herbal broth. Their large pho is certainly enough to feed two (or three in this case). Extremely quick service and delivery of food to table (within minutes of ordering), although I guess it doesn't take much effort to assemble each bowl.

When I first arrived, I was surprised by the large number of staff standing around, chatting to one another... and soon I found out why. They must be some of the most efficient staff I've seen in table turnover for they've mastered it to an art - as soon as customers leave a table, they effectively zoom in, clear and wipe down the table and ready it for the next customer within minutes.
Freddie Diaz
For some reason that I don't understand yet they posses the magical ingredients for the great pho. Best in Sydney told by same Vietnamese. Simple and delicious
Risse
We went to have a nice lunch with friends but was horrified at the surcharge of $3.50 for AN EMPTY BOWL to share a large bowl of noodles. If it was say 50c I can understand but for $3.50 it's such a RIP OFF. This is infuriating and I am severely disappointed because I've come here for years with my family, and this is the worst experience I've had here. Don't come unless everyone is hungry because this is such a deterrent for less hungry patrons. (This was our waitress who told us we would have to pay for using the bowls)
Also they got my order wrong and gave me beef balls instead of pepper beef rolls, so I had to request them to change it.

My go-to restaurant for pho! Service and staff are both quick and friendly, and all my past experiences here were extremely enjoyable. Would definitely recommend Pho An to satisfy your pho cravings!!
The Sydney Tram
To those who get so spoilt with Viet restaurants that cater almost every cuisines, mind you, Pho An only serves their best dish, pho. And that is how food businesses survive back in Vietnam. So why would you do too many things knowing you can be the best at certain thing?! Chicken or beef pho, you name it, your bowl will arrive on the table within minutes.

The menu board is engraved on the wall, but if the waiter happens to expect you to read from there, kindly ask for a menu. Like most of you who've been there, I'm aware of the surcharge for extra bowl, and I think they want to avoid people saving cost by just share it. If you think you won't be finishing it, request for less pho noodles when you order.

I’m aware that some foodies are very sensitive with the msg added. But let’s face it, if you’re willing to pay at least $20 for a pho bowl, then absolutely no msg. If you’re looking for a place without any flavour enhancement, it is called “home”. The food source is not as transparent as you assume, no matter where you are in the world. About the dipping sauce (hoisin and chilly), it is everywhere in Vietnam. It makes the meat better. I mean, if you’re so conscious about the msg content, don’t use it. Homemade and homegrown your ingredients, problems solved :)

Fast food? Go here!

Yet to find a tastier pho... once you try it you're going to keep craving it. Rare beef is a must with a coconut water.

Feels like your in a hospital cafeteria but it doesn't bother anyone. You get in, get fed and get out, all within 20mins if you eat quick. :)

Food: 10/10
Service: 5/10
Price: 8/10

Overall: 10/10

Service was okay here; we were seated straight away and literally as soon as we sat down they took our order. This is understandable, as this place almost exclusively sells Pho. However we didn't finish our order when the waiter just walked away. We had to wait to hail him again to finish our order. However the food came out within minutes and all negative feelings towards the service disappeared.

This is the best damn bowl of pho in Sydney without a doubt. The broth is a wonderful combination of savoury and sweet, clear but flavourful. The beef was so incredibly tender that it just melted in your mouth. If you're feeling up to it, you can opt for the large bowl but regardless the portions are great for the price you're paying and well worth it for the incredible food.

The service lies more on the side of functional than friendly. The system is extremely efficient, with high turnover and fast service. This isn't the kind of place to linger for a few hours.

This is still getting a 10 from me because of the food, but don't expect too warm a reception.

BEST PHO IN SYDNEY... possibly in Australia. I'm sure they own a magic Harry Potter wand and use it to create the soup base. Well they have been around forever and have pretty much perfected their recipe. The soup can be a little fatty but DAMNNnnnn is it goooood, great meat portion to. Sometimes it feels like they just "plop" the meat in while its all still stuck together but CARE FACTOR ZEROO I've given into the hype. #Musttry.

Two things are clearly important here - Efficiency and flavour.

Food ordered:
Beef brisket pho and my friend the chicken pho. I'm usually a rare beef kind of guy but decided to go for the more tender brisket. It was great. The broth was light and easy on the palette with the right balance of savoury elements. The broth to noodle ratio was also spot on. Just enough broth at the end to keep you interested.

Ambience:
Like I said, efficiency, is clearly a priority. Once seated they are ready to take your order. Basil leaves and bean sprouts are put on the table and the tea is poured. Food arrived within 5 minutes. Don't expect a laugh and chat with the waiter, but do expect a clean table, shiny cutlery and fast service.

Will be back when the pho craving strikes again.

Love their Pho. It's one of the best in Sydney. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants to try a taste of Vietnamese Pho.

Been here alot when i was younger with parents so ive known this restaurant for a while. It was great back then. But the last time i went there which was 3 months ago i wasnt that amazed by their food like before. Even though their service is extremely fast, their soup wasnt as hot which was a downside. Price was extremely expensive too. Customer service was ehhh. Didn't feel they were really welcoming. Wont come back again because they just disappointed me tbh. There's better pho at cabramatta with cheaper prices too.

I been to this restaurant for more than 20 years. I think they made a good beef noodle soup in long long ago, but in these few years. Their standard is going down and not that good compare before. I hope they can improve and back to the older days.

Best Pho you can get from anywhere. They use top quality beef and since they only serve Pho the wait time is under 5mins. Highly recommend anyone to try them.

The food taste alright, but the service was really bad, didnt even give me the menu, cos they assume i'll be asking for the Pho just like everyone else. But still, if i had to pay this much money for food, i want some decent service atleast

Pho An is my favourite pho restaurant. You can never go wrong with this Vietnamese pho restaurant. The noodles have a good texture to them and the broth has the right about of flavour and it is not too watery. This is the only pho place that I will have some sip of the broth. Besides drinks and beverages, they do only sell pho. Despite the wonderful pho, the downsides are that asking for an extra bowl to share and for more salad will cost extra. They also charge a fee per person on public holidays.

The best Pho hands down anywhere in Sydney. The richness of the broth beats other Pho. Easy indication is I don't feel lethargic after having the large bowl while most other pho uses a bit of msg seasoning that causes mild drowsiness.
Knife Fork N Chopsticks
I think this is the best place for pho out of everywhere I've tried, and the thing that makes it my favourite is their pho soup; it's super flavourful and delicious. I come here a lot too, and the quality is always consistently excellent. They do only pho here, and in my opinion, they've nailed it.

I've tried their cooked beef brisket, raw beef, combination, and chicken pho, and my favourite is the cooked beef, only because one time, unfortunately, I had the raw beef and I got severe food poisoning and it scared me off it for a while, and when I eventually couldn't resist the temptation anymore, I decided to go back but never order the raw beef again. With the chicken pho, you also have the option of choosing between chicken with the skin on, or chicken without the skin.

I also like to order a bowl of beef balls in soup and a bowl of cooked egg yolks in soup sometimes, as well as a raw egg yolk in soup. The hotness from the soup cooks the raw egg yolk a bit, so it becomes a bit like eating a sunny side up egg, without the egg white.

The service is very very fast, probably the fastest I've ever experienced. Even when it's busy, you never have to wait long for a table, and as soon as you're seated, someone is there to take your order; meanwhile, somebody else brings over tea and bean sprouts and basil plate right away. Once you've ordered, the food is usually there within minutes.

Warning though, I think they do use a lot of MSG in their soup bases for their pho, as I always find myself feeling very thirsty after I eat here, and I need to drink a lot of water during and after my meal. But to me personally, this isn't an issue, as I think the MSG helps to add more flavour to the soup.

The price here is also very cheap, the latest time I was here, I had two medium bowls of beef pho, cooked egg yolks in soup, two raw egg yolks, and a coconut juice and the total came to $42.

TIP: you can ask them for cooked bean sprouts instead of the raw bean sprouts they give you, as well as asking for extra coriander and shallots, all of which they will give you for no extra charge.

Psychologically expensive food tastes better even when it's not & has been proven with costlier wines. I think that's the trend here at Pho An, at $15.5 for a bowl it is definitely overpriced and by far the most expensive bowl I've come across. Honestly it doesn't taste any more superior, rather it tastes more westernized and fragrant in a way that is almost unauthentic. I grew up eating my grandma's pho so I know authentic when I taste it. There are plenty of places around town that serve superior pho, they're just hidden gems. The pho here will also make you extremely thirsty from all the MSG. So if you like overpriced and MSG on the side with your pho, this is probably the place for you.

The familiar sight and taste of a humongous bowl of pho, or flat rice noodles, bathed in clear, sweet broth and accompanied with a plate of bean sprouts, lemon and chopped chilli, is comforting in a cold autumn evening. Pho An or An Restaurant, is widely regarded as the best pho restaurant and it is difficult to disagree (if you can tolerate their excessive use of MSG)

The special beef combination pho was exceptional. The tender and succulent pieces of beef resembled those in Japanese shabu-shabu, that is, thinly sliced and perfectly cooked in the steaming hot broth. The Vietnamese ice-coffee was thick and flavourful - a rarity in a city which prefers thin and mild versions of coffee.

P.S. Using MSG as a food enhancer and addictive is a thing of the past, my dear restaurants. There are many alternatives in Woolworths or Coles, if you bother to make a trip there.

Any visit to Bankstown must include a stop by Pho an. Been operating since I was a little boy, for many years they have mastered the art of pho making. The combination rich broth, cooked meat and tasty noodles is complemented by efficient and fast service.

Best pho in Sydney that's pho sure. If you can find better please let me know. The pho has so much flavour and is very tasty. Everything taste fresh especially their herbs and beans sprout etc, as these condiments are very important to Vietnamese people.

Visited Bankstown for the first time, wanting to try some authentic pho as well as pork chop rice. Walked into this one due to reviews online, got super disappointed!

Firstly, they only do noodles, no rice or whatsoever, there's a very limited choice in food.

Secondly, when we asked for extra bowls for sharing, they charge an extra fee of $3.50 PER BOWL! What?! Who charges extra for empty bowls?!

Thirdly, the pho itself is rather average, I'd rather have it in Flemington.

Fourthly, the price is EXPENSIVE for what it is, you can get way bigger bowls of delicious pho in Flemington or elsewhere.

Lastly, I seriously do not understand why there are so many people lining up for this restaurant, other than the food coming really quickly, almost instantly, there's nothing else good about this restaurant.

I would never ever return to this place!
Anna
Best pho I've ever had. This my local pho place and I've been going here for over 15-20yrs with my family and now by myself. Service is really quick, tables are clean abc well organised and the special beef noodle soup is amazing! Great flavours that can't be replicated. Highly recommend this place. Only downside is the price which is a bit more on the expensive for pho but worth it!

Came here on a Sunday night. Very packed but service was still very fast. Very limited menu range with chicken and beef pho only. Flat out led to sit the difference between medium and large, definitely only extra noodles and soup no extra meat at all. In fact, the medium may have even had more meat. Not impressed about being lied to. Very pricy for pho but the meat is of good quality aside from the fat on every piece. Cash only as well.

A small bowl of pho is very filling. I had Pho Tai and the meat portion was good compared to other restaurants in Cabra. This was probably one of my most favourite pho places to go to back in childhood and it still is. A bowl of pho would cost you $15 which is $3 higher than the usual $12. I guess those additional costs compensate for the cleanliness and quick service.

Delicious pho! Yum! Great quality broth, I tried the rare beef pho and it was wonderful and tasty. The speed for these people to get food on the table is very impressive, they define FAST food! I'd try this place again, the only let down was the service and "cash only"sign.
Lena
I haven't been there in a while, but I remember that they had really good pho. My parents and I used to go there all the time, but we now go to Cabramatta! Would recommend!

Came here for lunch on Monday, the restaurant is easy to find. After checking the menu on Zomato, we decides to order small bowl of pho with beef combination. The service was quick. The soup was flavoursome and the beef was tender and juicy, overall I can say it was delicious.
Too bad that the menu isn't written in English (but in Vietnamese) so we don't really know what else we can order and I think they should offer more side dish like spring roll or else, but I'm not sure if it is already written in the menu.
Well if you are a fan of pho, this is one of restaurants you can try😊 I would recommend to order pho with beef combination because we got cooked beef, half-raw beef, tripe and tendon in it and if you don't have a big appetite, you should order small one. They don't receive payment with card, so remember to bring some cash with you. I spent about $31 for two small bowls beef combination pho, a bit pricey but worth the taste
EATING BAE
I ordered Pho Dac Biet which is the special Pho including of the rare, briskets, tendons and tripes. The broth was really fragrant and to the point. Meats was tender and fully covered the bowl, this was the best Pho I have ever tried outside of Vietnam, the only thing was the noodles was not soft or well boiled and not smooth enough. Service was really quick and efficient.
HurryDaFoodup
This place gives me my hit of hot soul enriching pho full of a intense depth of flavour, juicy rare beef slices and mountain of noodles. Highly recommend this place for their quick kind service and great food!!
So good it's close to home too!!

Best pho in Sydney (in my personal opinion).
For a place that sells one dish, with some variety, pho an is ALWAYS packed out. There has not been a time i've visited and haven't seen it busy. I love the rare beef pho here. The broth is nicely flavoured and the portions are more than generous. Customer service is also top notch. They are very fast and very efficient. They find you a seat and bring your food to you all in a reasonably short amount of time.
If you haven't been here already, go!
SOGOKOU
Overrated! Just my personal opinion. The taste of the soup is a bit salty. It is not like the beef soup flavour I tried in Vietnam. The beef is not so fresh, it's like it has been defrosted.
And most importantly the price is quite expensive.
On the other hand, the service is fast and nothing I can complain about.
Supreme Eater
Holy jesus mackerel. That is all I can say about this place. As a proud Australian with a strong Vietnamese background this place knocks all the other pho joints out of the park. Food comes out before you even have a chance to pull that phone out of your pocket. The broth, noodles and beef are absolutely sublime. Go here or forever hold your peace.
