An Aladdin’s cave of cheesy delights. You will enjoy the selection and fresh bread . Hard not to leave without one of their shopping bags overflowing with delicious goodies. Definitely a must visit.

My partner and I are cheese lovers. If we were told for the rest of our lives we could only have cheese or chocolate we would both choose cheese without any hesitation. So we were very excited when we first came across the Little Cheese Shop in Maylands and have popped in whenever we need some really good quality cheese for a special occasion.  For those who always bag Perth as not having the variety that our Eastern cousins have available to them.....some of the cheeses sold in The Little Cheese Shop are only available in this shop (in Australia at least).  That's because the owner is very passionate about cheese and goes out of his way to source some real crackers (every pun intended).  Anyway, I digress. Last night we decided to go to the wine and cheese matching session where Geoff matched some fantastic cheeses with Myattsfield wines.  This was a really interesting way to enjoy the cheeses and the tastings sizes were generous and paired with a selection of gourmet crackers, bread (the fruit bread was perfect), muscat grapes and quince paste (beautifully presented).  I've never matched cheese with wine before but the selections seemed to work really well.  On offer was a Forage De Meaux which was paired with a Chardonnay. Its fair to say that we both went of Chardonnay in the 90s, too woody and sweet for our taste. Myattsfield's Chardonnay is a cut above, drier in style and the winemaker tells us this is because the vines are grown inland instead of on the coast. Next up we had a Torndirrup Apenzelle and a Red Cow Swiss Tilsiter Red which were both paired with a sparkling merlot (yes, that's right...merlot, not shiraz).  Both cheeses were superb although I did struggle a bit with the nose of the Tilsiter Red.  My partner on the other hand thought it was the best.  The bubbly was really light and would be perfect with a cheese platter on a hot afternoon.  Next up on the tasting was a Hafod Organic 18 month Cheddar which was paired with a Shiraz Mourvedre Viognier blend....all that was missing was the crackling log fire!!  As if we hadn't tasted enough cheese and wine we still had three to go.  Next up was a Rolf Beeler 28 month aged Gruyere and a Colton Bassett Stilton which were both paired with a Durif (again...think wood fires).  The cheeses were incredible and we were both surprised to find that we liked the Stilton (having not previously liked blue veins) which was smooth and rich and earthy.  Both the SMV and Durif were wine styles we've not tried before and we really enjoyed both varieties which went superbly with the cheese.  The evening ended with a Wijngaard Reypenaer VSOP (aged gouda) which was paired with a fortified wine called Nancy (after the wine makers grandmother).  Both worked really well together. And just when you though you'd had enough we were treated to a mulled Verdelho which was flavoured with orange, ginger and star anise.  Overall we had a fantastic two hours, learnt a lot about cheese and wine all for a very reasonable price. We'll definitely do this again.

What a fabulous afternoon. Met 2 other friends for the high cheese. It’s byo which is a massive plus. Plenty of food for you $40 which included hot savory treats, cheese, crackers, fruit bread & also 3 different dessert tastings.

Lacked a little atmosphere as we were the only people there but it was great service. Easy access on public transport so if you are planning on drinking (like we were) then train& bus options are super easy.

I’d definitely return.

Pictured: top – from left to right: queso manchego, rossa del alta langa, delice de cremiers, bottom – from left to right: red leicester, old winchester, asiago, middle: barossa camembert and quince. There’s a little store in Bayswater that specialises in cheese. How I have never heard of this place before beats me because I love cheese. Cheese is life. And for all those who don’t like cheese, we cannot be friends (because lets face it, life is too short for that kind of drama in your life hahahaha). On the weekend, my gorgeous friend celebrated her 30th birthday. She is slightly lactose intolerant and still loves cheese – Now that’s dedication! (these are the types of winners you need in your life). We had the High Cheese experience here and it was truely amazing. The High Cheese experience includes a selection of sweets, savoury, antipasto, pot of tea, plunger coffee and of course cheese. It’s BYO wine which is a big tick!!! It costs $40 per person and they design the cheese selection to compliment your BYO. We of course had champagne. Jeff the owner was very knowledgeable and you could tell he was passionate about this job and about cheese.

Jeff the owner is supremely knowledgeable and extremely passionate about cheese. We rolled in one rainy Saturday arvo and sat down for some excellent home-made small plates and incredible cheeses. Jeff will even match the cheese to your drink of choice. Highly Recommended.

Cute shop! Love the setting too, very simple but classy.
Staff/owner(unsure) was really friendly and informative. It's great to know that they have incorporated their products into meals every now and then and also organise tasting sessions with wine! I would definitely be there for one of those!
Bought some Italian cheese and can't wait to try it.

My partner and I visited the Little Cheese Shop on a busy Saturday morning for some assistance on what cheeses would go together for our wedding cake we'll be making from wheels of cheese. The owner was friendly and knowledgeable helping us pick cheeses to suit the beers and wines we would be serving at the wedding. We sampled some cheese there and took some home for some further cheese and wine research!
They also stock some delicious sweet and savoury treats which we couldn't resist either - the cronut was amazing!
You can see why these guys do a roaring trade, it's a unique and quality shop to visit for any cheese lover.

This place is the Star of Bayswater. Geoff and the team are very knowledgeable about cheese and what works. They regularly hosts collaborations such as Beer & Cheese evening along with High Cheese which is highly recommended.

Such an awesome hidden gem! We had a Sunday cheese high tea and it was amazing. So much great cheese perfectly matched with our drink, home baked goodies, some cake, cold meats and freshly brewed coffee! Too much food. The service was excellent and very personal.

My partner and I have been here several times just for cheese and once for one of their cheese high teas. Every single time has been an awesome experience that culminated in going home with delicious cheese. The high tea showcased local businesses proeuxe as well as the cheeses available in the shop and was delicious all around. Our latest visit was whilst getting supplies for our anniversary cheese board. We arrived there whilst the owner was unpacking that days order and he happily showed us what he had just gotten in and when we expressed interest in one of the cheeses, he went and cut us some samples so we could try it then and there. AND - when during the checkout small talk he found out it was cheese for our anniversary, he gave us a free camembert wheel as a present! Happy to recommend them before now, but will definitely go out of my way to direct people to them in the future.

The range is always fantastic and the cheese high tea is amazing also. We went by on Wednesday to get some cheeses for a special occasion and the service was friendly and helpful, and the gentleman even arranged us complimentary tasting and an additional camambert to take home. We can't thank you enough, and will be back in soon.

I've dropped into this lovely little shop for the first time just recently and bought two cheeses. The cheese is good quality. I picked a bad day to go though, as a lot of the selection had sold out. I'm looking forward to going trying a cheese night matched to some wine soon.

I love this place, Geoff the owner will take you through all the types of cheese! We were looking to get something local and he took his time to give us recommendations. The decor is really nice and we ended up getting Cambray Cheese (Blackwood blue), it's fabulous! Definitely going there again!

Amazing high cheese! Such good food and so much of it, we couldn't even finish it all. We brought our own champagne/wine but coffee and tea are available. Would definitely recommend it for a nice afternoon out :-)

Lovely little shop. Sales dude was awesome, perfect shop attendant. Super knowledgeable when asked but just let me alone to make my choices, ask my questions. Buying jeans, phones or cheese, this is how sales should be done. Lots of local goodies to, breads, crackers, honey, preserves. Seem to have a good relationship with local artisans. N whilst i did spend a *lot* on cheese, ive an xmas cheese plate to put together, n i came home with more volume and variety than Id get from my local 'decent' deli at that price. Well worth the trip.
