I felt like Indian food and I didn't want to cook. I decided to try Kathmandu for two reasons. They advertise no MSG and they have pretty good reviews. I was still hesitant because the last time I bought Indian food online, the food was extremely oily. The food was hot and fresh. Some Indian places I have eaten over the years, the spices overpowered the food therefore making the eating experience unpleasant. All the dishes we had were perfect in spice and heat. I can eat hot and spicy food, the heat for me was medium and a little spicy for my wife. In other words a great balance of heat. The creamy lamb Korma is everything described. The Daal I found a little watery, perfect the next day. I love saffron rice. It wasn't gluggy or over cooked. I found the Beef Madras really salty. I struggled to eat it, mixed with the rice it settled the flavour a little. The kachumber is supposed to bring a freshness to the dish and again it was far too salty. I had to take it off my plate. I don't understand why the carrot was in the kachumber, it may be a minor ingredient, it changes the flavour and texture of the dish, I don't think it is necessary. I couldn't taste any lime, and there was a little coriander in the dish. When we ordered the meal it was going to take over an hour, the delivery was within 45 minutes. Overall I am pleased with the meal.
First time dining here. The menu was excellent and had a great selection of Indian and Nepalese dishes. The servings were generous and all were Delicious. The customer service excellent , very helpful and very friendly. Excellent value, BYO wine and very clean.
Nice atmosphere, ample parking, great wait staff, BYO wine as well as fully licensed. We ordered tandoori prawn entree, prawns were nicely cooked with a tasty sauce, not much depth of flavour like tandoori normally is but light and fresh. Had a prawn main advertised as medium heat, and chicken korma advertised as mild but asked for it to be made medium heat. Both dishes had the meat cooked perfectly with lovely sauce, unfortunately there was just no spice to them (and we're not huge spice eaters) so tasted quite bland and again no depth of flavour that you'd expect from Indian food, just seemed to be lacking spices and aromatics. Saffron rice also tasted like basmati (bland) but raita and naan were delicious. Overall would recommend, but would order in hot heat if you want more flavour.
