I love the original Beechworth Bakery, great service, fantastic pies and great dessert selection.
Always plenty of seating, upstairs, down or even outside.
It’s definitely a must come and visit place, when you are in the lovely area of Beechworth.
We ordered Ned Kelly Pie, Smokey pork & Bourbon pie, beesting and a brownie. The bakery offer free tea bag and instant coffee. Lovely to sit at the balcony upstairs, enjoying the delicious food and town view with autumn colours. We arrival on a public holiday. The shop was very packed, but worth the wait. great location which is right at the centre of the historical town. Take away a fruit loaf, wonderful breakfast for the next few days’ travelling.
Been here many times and thats basically based on the hype and tradition.
Cant fault the pies of course because they are amazing.... however everything else is a let down. I ordered a wrap and friend ordered sandwich, very ordinary.
Need to renovate the tired interior and although the service is friendly its basically nothing more than country folk hospitality, its very slow. would love to see this place shine as bright as the rest of the town.
Conclusion: So much potential, not the best place to sit and relax. Feel like they have stoped progressing.
Coffee should be better
Awesome bakery - great pies and bread, good coffee, friendly service with a smile, must visit with the family and friends on trip to beechworth.
Some friends organised a weekend trip to Beechworth (and booked accommodation in the George Kerford hotel part of the old lunatic asylum which was kind of creepy but cool) and naturally breakfast in the morning was at the Beechworth bakery. I've been here countless times over the years and it's always super busy. Despite all the hype they remain reasonably priced. The scones and the lemon meringue pie are a must and you simply have to take some fresh bread home. Check out the late night asylum tour too while you're there
Had an excellent steak pie for $5 here, and the coffee is also fairly cheap and great quality. Overall was cheaply priced compared to the cities. I also had my order delivered quickly, in spite of the bakery being totally packed out.
There is a very good ambience in this place, which probably sets this place apart from most other eateries around it. Scattered throughout the place are historic memorabilia e.g. Ned Kelly stands and figurines.
The original bakery that started the dynasty. All the food is really good, steak pies, cauliflower pie and the Ned Kelly pie which has a whole egg in the pie. The beesting and snicker doodles are the best desserts.
It gets really busy and noisy, especially with young families, hence if this bothers you suggest you take it to go and chill out at one the many parks close by.

Beechworth Bakery dubbed Australia's best bakery, is a huge double storey bakery with the original located in Beechworth, Victoria. The bakery now has locations in Bendigo, Healesville, Echuca, Ballarat and Albury. We were so excited and hungry to try Beechworth Bakery once again forgot to document our food! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, they get you served quickly considering there is a huge queue coming in from either side of building- and have a great team work system going on serving customers fast! Everything in the bakery is so fresh and delicious! Pies full of mushrooms and meat, bacon- you can really taste everything that's meant to be in the pie, they don't skimp on any ingredients! All the desserts are fresh and delicious, not overly sweet or sugary. All the pastries are soft, fresh and tasty!
TIP: Don't forget to order a Beesting- Beechworth Bakery's best seller, and our favourite! Beesting is a truly perfect dessert soft, fresh and you can really taste the fresh Beechworth honey, and cream!
The Ned Kelly Pie is a must try. Tried their sandiwches too, i.e. The Cuban, Miners Turkish and Bushranger. All is fresh and great. Their loaf of bread is fantastic, crusty outside and very soft inside. Always a long queue but the service is fast. Definitely recommend and will come back.
Probably the biggest bakery we've ever visited, and yet very well organised. They had a wide variety of pastries and warm foods that were perfect for our road trip stop. Service was quick in terms of food, however we were left standing there for 10 minutes waiting for 2 large hot chocolates. The...
Finally ticked off a bucket list item. It lives up to expectations! The sound of the buzzers can take away from the atmosphere a little, but it means that you are served quickly and efficiently in this high traffic bakery. Fantastic food and coffee in a beautiful old building.
Bleechworth bakery feels like an historical landmark. Interesting indoor setup. Friendly staff. Bread last much longer than expected. A good place to stop if allowing a small detour on your road trip.

How can you go to Beechworth and not stop at the OG Beechworth Bakery?! 100% worth a stop every single time, no matter how many times you visit this beautiful little town!
We love to dine in (always busy – but two levels of seating help accommodate for this) and we always order a Plain Beef Pie and a Beesting each, every time we visit! Absolutely delicious – can do no wrong and is perfect every single time!
The staff are always under the pump but are always so friendly! I’m not a parent but I’m aware that there are always kids dining in at the restaurant and highchairs are there for use.

A must stop if you are ever down this way. Such a pretty store with dine in or takeaway with inside and outside tables. The range of gorgeous pastries,cakes and sandwiches is huge and they all looked delicious. We grabbed some takeaway gourmet pies for dinner this evening. Butter chicken and Pork bourbon and their famous vanilla slices for dessert. … if they last that long. The staff are friendly and helpful a great lunch spot.
Only here to buy the beesting cakes.
