Review The Dynasty Restaurant - Belmore

A very pleasant evening with friends. Although quiet this Thursday evening, the service was first class. All the staff were friendly and attentive. The food we ordered was '60's classic "Chinese" ( Cantonese) food; lemon chicken, Mongolian lamb, honey prawns, braised pork, fried rice, fortune cookies, etc. Brought back memories of my childhood. Loved it! Surprisingly, for such dated cuisine and presentation, it was excellent. The chicken was plump, soft and tasted of chicken not overpowered by the lemon. The lamb melt in the mouth with a nice balance of Hosin sauce and not overstuffed with onions. The pork soft and salty..... All the servings were generous and by request, not bought to the table all at once. Nearby a large family celebrated their 5yo son's birthday, with laughter, singing and a blue and white ice-cream cake. So lovely to able to see people together enjoying life. A really pleasant evening with friends.

Artistic atmosphere, nicely decorated. But was a bit slow when waiting for the staff to give me the change after paying with cash. Food was generally good but the chicken feet we ordered seems not fresh and has no taste.

The Yum Cha here is great! They offer a nice selection of dishes which are made to order. The service is fast and responsive. Beautiful seating arrangement inside.

Pretty good place for a yum cha. It is located inside RSL club, which has a nice interior and an indoor waterfall. The restaurant has a cool entrance, the staff was very attentive and polite. We ordered chicken feet, truffle siu mai, garlic chive and prawn dumplings and rice noodles with prawn. Food was good, you pay at the table and they accept Visa and Mastercard.

I love trying new places for Yum Cha. I must say the ambience of this restaurant is lovely. It’s nicely decorated and presented. The wait staff are very attentive. It doesn’t have the food coming on the trolleys. You order on a piece of a4 paper and the wait staff will whisk it away to the kitchen. They’ll leave the bill thingy and mark your dishes ordered on it as soon as you receive them. The food was yummy. My pork football wasn’t hot but it was tasty. I tried a new steamed dumpling dish , it was pork with truffles, it smelled devine , but very similar to the steamed pork ones. I loved the pork spareribs, steamed rolled Rice noodle with beef, mango pancakes, and sticky rice the best. The chicken feet were a different flavour than one you normally get. It’s a little more expensive but I still think Vanh Phat in Cabramatta is the place to go!

Very small portion dishes and the staff here always request you for a tip when you pay the bill. They like to put pressure on you to give them a tip. It's a disgraceful act and we don't feel comfortable with that at all. Never coming back that's for sure.

Friendly staff and the food I'd rate a high 7/10 for the three dishes I had. I've seen this restaurant many times in the past but never walked in. It's located inside the Canterbury club in Belmore. Prices are moderate. The restaurant seat lots of people. It has the yum cha spinning disk on some tables. The one thing that took me by surprise was when I was asked if I like to pay a tip. I don't think that's appropriate and if someone pays a tip it should be there idea because they were over impressed by the food or service. This tip business is American made and we don't want to be like them. Business should pay their staff adequately so tip or no tip they are looked after.

This is one of our favourite yum cha places in Sydney and we have been coming for years. The food is freshly prepared, tastes great and is reasonably priced. The service is friendly and polite. The restaurant is also very clean. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Calculating the bill for yum cha was totally confused among their staffs. One dish was counted twice

One of the best yum cha venues in a suburban area, inside Canterbury League Club. Nice ambiance with a soft flowing moat and architecture styled Chinese decor. Decent food & attentive service. 😀

They are undergoing a renovation at the moment and will reopen under new management perhaps after the lockdown. Hope everything will be the same and even better when I return next time. 🙂

It has been 45 minutes since we received the 1st dish. We still have no idea when we will get the 2nd. Horribly understaffed on Chinese new years eve. Very very disappointing.

Nice décor inside club however yum cha wasn't as good as the other places I've been to. Dim sums did not have the touch. Quite expensive too I might add.

Nice atmosphere inside the leagues club. Not many chinese. Menu is mixed asian.

Duck pancakes is very meaty and saucy. Enjoyed it however it's not beijing style. Second course is san choy bou. Huge portions. Crab is good. Snow peas with prawns is ok, snow peas is a little old and they didn't discard the vein piece.

One of my favourite places to go and enjoy scrumptious Yum Cha with a great variety of dishes. The chicken feet here are excellent. With one of the best Su Mai I have eaten so far.
Also love unwraping an extra perfect sticky rice parcel. Stuffed with amazing flavours of pork mince, egg and of course the best little nugget of joy to grace this perfect pod, Chinese sausage 🤤
With Fast and friendly service to match the spectacular dishes.
For more Vlogs check out my YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8CQlEE62GLokH8jGtAEajg
For more blogs check out my Instagram -
https://www.instagram.com/cutiefoodie_au/

May 2017
Yum Cha Lunch for two. Very nice food, not overly cheap considering, had to actually ask for a few dishes as they started off doing the traditional show and explain what they were offering, but then stopped. Atmosphere was nice given it is a very large space to fill and a pleasant enough experience. The menus above are not what was the yum cha lunch menu at all on the day we dined.

My fave place to go for yumcha, they got a good selections of dimsums.. went a couple of times for dinner too, taste delicious and portions are very generous. They are not as busy as other yumcha places maybe coz they got pretty big space in the canterbury club. Definitely worth a try!

Service is really good too, friendly and prompt staffs.

The dishes were not as good as those popular yumcha places usually have to queue at least for half an hour. There was no queue waiting to be seated and the quieter vibe of this restaurant actually good if you would like to chat with friends.

It’s our mates’ last birthday before he is overwhelmed by late-night nappies changing and boisterous demands for milk.

We got a table full of dim sums (Look at Al’s photographs) at Dynasty. The dim sums were delicious and more “authentic” than the crap from Mr Wong, China Doll or Queen Chow. However, it is unfathomable why they are served cold or lukewarm. More work needed eh.

👶 Food_Rampage_AM @INSTA Sydneyguyrojoe 🍼

Quite a nice place ambience wise, only let down by the food. All the dim sum came out lukewarm or almost cold from the trolleys. 2 dishes stood out, the steamed chinese broccoli was fresh n young, the fried prawn wonton had nice prawns. Rest was forgettable. Good thing company was unforgettable. Sydneyguyrojoe Leon

It’s the long weekend and we thought we’d Yum Cha. A quick search said that The Dynasty inside Canterbury Leagues Club was one of the best in Sydney so we decided to battle the crowds and give this place a whirl… except there were no crowds! We were seated, tea and extra chili sauce on table within seconds!

We went through the standard white-people yum cha selection (aka no chicken feet – even though I love chicken feet in the brown sauce!). The Prawn Cheong Fun (Rice Noodle Rolls) were delicious (5/5). The Shaomai were large and in charge (5/5). The Har Gow (Prawn Dumplings) were what you expect when you order your steamer container (5/5). The Scallop Steamed Dumplings were probably the least favourite of ours but still went down nicely (3/5). Finally, the Fried Squid was crispy, spicy, salty and arrived at our table piping hot (5/5). The prawn dumplings and rice noodle rolls were so delicious that we ordered 2!

For dessert, we shared some mango and egg goodness! The Egg Tarts were fluffy, creamy, light and delicious (5/5), the Mango Pancakes were very good, but a little ripe (3/5) and the Mango Pudding was a little bland (2/5). I feel that by the time we grabbed dessert we were too full to tackle, even though we had spent 90 minutes there already!

For a yum cha restaurant, the service here is extremely friendly. Everyone had a smile and was very polite and there was no pushing white-people dishes onto our table. We will be back again!

This restaurant is located inside the Canterbury Leagues Club. Slightly dark interior, we were seated not long after getting a number. It's best to get here earlier to avoid waiting a long time for a table. We were celebrating Father's Day so a Chinese yum cha would be a great choice for us.

Service is pretty good and attended to our requests quite swiftly. The quality of the yum cha items were piping hot and fresh (positioning of your table is important as we were seated near the kitchen where the food was coming out). The standard of yum chas in Sydney are quite variable but this was one of the better ones albeit being slightly pricy for a suburban one.

Overall very tasty and would re-visit for yum cha again.
Fatty Lam Chop
One of Sydney's many Chinese restaurants that operate out of the local RSL. You arent going to be wowed by their crystal prawn gow gees or their amazing turnips cakes because neither of these exist here - however on their secret menu lies two little hidden gems that arent found at all of the yum chas around Sydney - Chinese Donutstick Stuffed with Seafood Mash wrapped in Rice Noodles and Chinese Donutstick Stuffed with Spring Rolls wrapped in Rice Noodle. PS I like stuffed Chinese Donuts wrapped with Rice Noodles

Had a good feed here with a part of 4. Had Mongolian lamb which was the best of the lot. Chicken in satay sauce and king prawns in satay sauce too which were good

All the yum cha dishes were pretty average. Some even felt like frozen food! The chilli sauce tasted weird. They didn't charge for tea but charged higher costs for sauces.
I dont recommend this place for chinese food.
C
Very average dimsum, har gao has a bit of smell, some of the dimsum tasted like frozen food. however the yam dumpling is one of the good ones. The staffs are very friendly.

If I could give a 0 out of 10 I would. Experience was shocking. Food took over 1 hour to get to our table (table of 2) we had to pour our own wine which is bad luck to some. Once manager was called food came out rushing and he didnt even listen to our complaints with staff members looking at us and laughing and smiling as we waited. Food wasnt even hot. After getting our meal we came to pay and the head chef came out to talk to us and his phone rang and just stands there talking on his phone. Nothing was solved except discount off chicken cashew. Will not be returning here anymore

There was no service here.. We came in they rushed us as we didnt know that their kitchen was closing... we didn't get all our food and they gave us the bill, then another dish (Steamed Chinese Broccoli) came out and they came over to say oh you ordered something else after you you paid you need to pay $10.. FIRST OF ALL I ORDER THE VEGETABLES the same time as everything else you just rushed for me to pay... THEN i questioned wait.. these steamed veggies are $10 they said yes I said but your scallop dumplings costs the same?? The waiter said oh no Scallop Dumpling are actually $7.. I asked her SO you're telling me these steamed veggies are MORE than Scallops and prawn dumplings that take more effort to make then steam veggies... the wait said yeah... i dont get it either... i wouldnt order it myself... maybe you can just not order it next time... Actually maybe I just wont come back next time....

Being Chinese/Vietnamese... I know the price of steam Chinese broccoli costs $0.80 cents to buy and costs max $6 at restaurants in the CBD...

This ridiculous...

Went here for yumcha on a tuesday afternoon. It had a very regal chinese atmosphere. The food was also very quick; and plenty of helpful waiters. I especially enjoyed the braised pork dish. The mango sago was also a delight. However, it was abit exy.

You're not going to find another restaurant with better deco around Canterbury area and the food is quite good. They also do yumcha but it gets quite busy during Saturday arvo.
Chichi
Very average food if not below average. Pricey considering the quality. Exceptional rude service and would not visit again due to this reason.

Came for for lunch and you see a banner that timeout magazine had voted this one of the best yum Cha places in Sydney! Well let's see
Everything was either up to standard or better than expected except for one dish, the pork dumplings are different to what I'm use too but still tasty. Turnip cake and pork ribs stood out for me.
But there prawn Cheong fun was not good, the prawns inside yes but the rice noodle they put on the outside was hard which was strange. Usually it's dry soft.
Apart from this service was good, prices reasonable,a popular place so come early otherwise you will be waiting
Sus.licious
It's situated in Canterbury RSL club, decent food , comfy atmosphere, relatively cheap price and guaranteed parking spot have made this place very very popular for yum Cha.I have been to this place multiple times in the weekends and I have been getting there earlier and earlier trying to beat the queue. For my last visit, I arrived at 11:15 and needed to wait for 20 mins for a table. Be there early to avoid extensive wait.

I had no idea that Canterbury Leagues Club had a Chinese Restaurant inside! We came here for lunch last Saturday and it was a really great experience, the staff were very attentive and the decor was gorgeous inside and outside. They offer Yum Cha but we ordered off the menu, some of the dishes selected include the spring rolls (yum!), flat noodles (which were really good), shan dong chicken (also decent but not the typical way with shallots etc), fried pork chop (as per usual since they were so deep fried haha) and also a fresh fish which was really great. I would definitely revisit for the Yum Cha since it seemed there was a lot of variety there!

We had dinner here on a Saturday night for the first time, after admiring the lovely setting of this restaurant. The food itself is nothing special. Surprisingly small servings of the typical Cantonese food, yet the prices are comparable to the larger Chinese restaurants. Standout dishes here are the wasabi beef, and the peking ribs. Service is quite good, noting that it's a packed restaurant.

I wish the food was nearly as good as the decor. The salt and pepper squid was disappointing. Service very slow and we found we had to explain our order a few times.
ZomatoFun
Quality is good. Be sure to come in early as the queue time can take really long during peak hours. Price is slightly more than typical yum cha.

This restaurant is inside the Canterbury Club. It must be very popular among the rich Chinese community as every now and then people book it for their wedding party. We occasionally meet our friends from Northern side of Sydney entertaining their guests.

Must iterate that this restaurant is the opposite of cheap eats. Expect to spend $100 plus for descent dinner. The manager has got great product knowledge. Every dishes he recommended turned out to be fabulous.

We love their strawberry beef, abalone soup and scallop dishes. Ingredients are fresh and the taste is well balanced.

We never tried their Yum Cha but will definitely do so in the near future.

A yum cha with all the standard dishes plus a few stand out ones. Be a little choosey and don't fill up on the first thing that comes out and I think it's one of the best yum cha places in Sydney.

Looks can be deceiving, and this restaurant is a great example. Classy from the outside but the food quality didn't meet my expectations, major let down. I personally ordered the Lemon Chicken, which was a ridiculous wait, coming at least 10minutes after every dish and was covered in lemon juice, taking away the exciting crunch. The Salt and Pepper squid was as well an unnecessary wait but great flavour. Amongst the 7 other dishes, the presentation wasn't equal nor complimented the restaurants "standards". No single dish stood out or offered flavour that popped! Even though we were hungry, nothing was appetising or satisfying. I must admit though, one positive of the night was the fried ice cream, sweet flavours, but one of my party argued it was over cooked. Was really disappointed and expected so much more.
Oh but wait! "Do you want to tip sir?", I don't think so! I should tip when my food and service needs are fulfilled and shouldn't be asked by a waiter.

Worst Yum Cha restaurant. All my life I have went to many yum cha restaurant and this one has been the worst. I have waited 3hrs just to get in!!! The servicing were terrible! I am very disgusted!!!!!

The 'Shame' Dynasty. I cannot believe tht this restaurant won a best in Sydney Yum Cha. Come on now! The rice noodles with BBQ pork was filled with off tasting pork-inedible! So too were the prawn & scallop steamed dumplings- another horrendously stale dish. The pork ribs in black bean sauce was quite nice but nowhere near the standard of loads of other restaurants. I did like the Rice noodle roll. Delicious steamed noodle wrapped round yummy and not greasy crispy noodle pastry. Unfortunately this lone, well-cooked dish was not worth the trip.

I rarely venture out this way of Sydney. But I think it's good to try new places and check out different parts of Sydney. Relativity is important. I've read reviews about the messed up queuing system they have and I have to agree with what was said. I was in line and I got a table after some other people who were behind myself in the queue. They were an older chinese couple so I didn't get too annoyed but I guess I can concur with the principle of the situation. It was 40 bucks for two people which I think is cheap for yum cha. It was nice yum cha for suburbia. It doesn't quite rival the city yum chas of Marigold, The Eight or Sky Phoenix but it's not far off. They just need more trolleys, a fair queuing system and a slight adjustment to their food and they would be awesome. I find the Canterbury Club quite tacky in decore but the actual decore of the Dynasty is nice. I wasn't expecting it to be this nice in suburban Belmore. I think it's modern, sleek and inviting. It's quite w

There's something comforting about the ritual of yum cha. The inevitable queue out the front, the hustle towards your table - still being cleared by efficient but surly waitstaff- and the general crescendo that swells in the full dining room: the rumbling

For some reason, my birthday friend chose this place that is so far away from where all of us lived...Not surprising we got a little lost getting there as none of us in our car has been to this side of town before. Sign in for yum cha The Canterbury

Some good yum cha dishes. The Dynasty seems to rank high on many "best yumcha in Sydney" lists but honestly, we found the dishes pretty hit and miss.
Most of the dumplings (eg har gau, spinach and prawn) were disappointing as the skins were quite thick and sturdy, masking the taste of the filling. The char leong (fried dough stick wrapped in rice paper roll) was too hard. Other misses were the taufu fah, rice paper rolls (with prawn, scallops) which suffered the same thick wrappers as the dumpling and the bland char siew bao.
The following dishes were worth ordering: siu mai (prawn and pork), fried taro cake and fried radish cake, chicken feet, vegetables stuffed with fish paste, lau sar pau (lava bun), mango pudding, congee, taro puffs with pork filling
Service was efficient and though we picked most of our dishes off the trolleys when they passed by, the staff were also helpful with sending specific dishes or trolleys our way on request.

Disappointing, could get better from a food court. Had dinner here and ordered bunch of dishes such as sweet and sour pork that were bones covered with a little bit of meat dipped in batter, some fried fish dish which felt like basically small chunks of a very bony fish, salty otherwise tasteless. i had a difficult time eating these with rice when i constantly had to pick out bone.

we were served fruit and red bean soup for dessert as you usually get at similar chinese restaurants but this place would serve up soup only a THIRD full of the bowl. the watermelon we got was also off and smelled fermented.

i had a birthday cake brought into the restaurant; only to be served out later looking as if it had been stored in a sloped position as the layers were almost falling off.

for such expensive dish prices, the owners should have the decency to ensure a high standard of food even if it is complimentary such as dessert. very unimpressed!

Very average Yum Cha. Nothing special. Average Yum Cha, standard Chinese restaurant in the middle of an RSL club. Don't go out of your way for it.

Pathetic waiting system.. Completely agree with the review below. The queuing system is a complete joke. I didn't mind waiting an hour to get in as that's just how it is, but when your number is "overlooked" and other people who showed up much later than you did, with the same amount of people in their group keep getting seated it gets a bit ridiculous. If i didn't ask the man what was going on i would of have been waiting all day. How hard it is to call out numbers in a consecutive order.

Being rude and pushy seems to be the best way to get in. It helps if you're asian too. Too harsh a comment? Then you haven't been when its busy.
Symonsy1@hotmail.com
We come here on a regular basis.. Cause we like the food and its close by.. But for some reason we get screwed over with the queuing system.. We wait and wait and we always end up getting frustrated cause the system just doesn't work.....
The guy at the front is not only rude but sure does favour his own kind before others.. Last time for us..

Yummy Yum Cha!. Had yum cha there last Friday. The food was very yummy! Loved the fact that there is no trolley with food sitting there forever but they made their yum cha to order! The fusion steamed vermicelli wagyu beef roll is a killer! Nice dinning environment-love the little stream and bridges! Will be back with more friends

Dining in a Chinese Past. The scallops were sizeable and delicately served with ginger and shallots and I was happy with this. My small group of diners also loved the simple but yummy e-fu noodles accompanied with mushroom slice cuts. We did find the roast duck cuts a tad salty but they were not fatty. Sizzling beef strips on a hot plate are welcome on a winter's night. We chose an excellent Wynns Shiraz from Coonawarra but weer not offewred the usual tea, although we did request for a tap water bottle on the side. The food really came out fast. Wait staff tried their best but perhaps could be morte engaging with diners. The decor and surrounds remidned me of being in a courtyard of a rich family in China's feudal past.

Crap. Too expensive, not much variety in the dishes, waited for an hour, tea is not complimentary and dishes weren't even tasty, go cabra instead it's better and cheaper

Watchout for staff. VERY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE TODAY, have been treated badly by one of the "white shirt" guy, who is a supervisor there. I asked for two soya sauce he brought one and insisted not to bring more, saying when it's empty then he'll refused then walked away. VERY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. Price is not really cheap to be equivalent with this service. Have been coming to this restaurant in the past 2 yrs but today they've lost a customer. Through out two year even though everything was OK but i always feels somewhat RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL from the staff every single time, however at least they satisfy the request with unhappy face till this time with a whole of refusal attitude throwing to customer.
