came here for a weekday lunch. ordered a beef brisket steak, baked macaroni with the onion ring. I must say the onion ring is the best that I've ever tried. crispy outside yet juicy and fleshy inside. the sauce for the beef is also very nice. they also have some pastry on display which look yummy and I was so tempted to get one.
This place has the most incredible steak sandwiches. The chips and hash browns are cooked perfectly with herbs every time. I go here at least once a week and pig out.The service is a very friendly down to earth country style with a bit of humour thrown in.The chef is a genius. In most places you will get one thing cooked good, but the other stuff is so so. Here, there may be rive things on the plate, and they are ALL cooked to perfection.Love this place. For a small town there certainly is some good food there.

Had lunch 2 days in a row here while on a road trip. Was excellent. Good service and creative dishes. We took a look at the Bakery cafes across the road and decided that this one looked better. Lots of options for vego's and gluten free.
We stopped off for lunch on our way home to Melbourne. I had the Vietnamese pork belly roll. My wife had the smoked salmon bagel. Coffee was great as well. We'll be back on our next trips

Great cafe!. Main Street Cafe is a great place. I've been there for breakfast, lunch, morning tea many times. The food has always been superb and the service friendly and prompt. The chef is a star. Interesting, delicious and superbly cooked meals. The ricotta pancakes for breakfast are amazing (and very filling). The toasted turkish bread sandwiches are wonderful especially the pork and apple, and the corned beef. I've had yummy pasta and risotto, zingy salads, superb poached eggs, Spanish donuts, luscious cake, proper milkshakes, delicious hot chocolates and much more. The original art on the wall is great. Being a tea drinker, my only quibble is that the cafe does not use leaf tea for pots of tea. I'm not a fan of teabags.
After a long a tiring drive from the madness that is Sydney traffic, we were amazed to find this little gem in Benalla. With serves you couldn't climb over, staff were friendly, attentive - and service was quick! A well priced find just off the Hume!
Great service from some lovely staff. Their menu has a few standard cafe items and a few more adventurous things. The corn fritters with bacon were very good; maybe a little more oily than I'd like, but served with beautifully rich roasted tomatoes that I particularly enjoyed.
Best breakfast. Eaten breakfast twice here and bircher muesli unsurpassed ANYWHERE. Huge serves and too much on the first visit but got it right second time around. Hot cakes are amazing and feed a family on their own, banana bread spiced, gooey with sauce and butter. Coffee solid if not spectacular.
The service is prompt and goes the extra mile - sharing the bircher resulted in two separate bowls served with muesli and garnishes on top, rather than splitting it at the table.
We visit Benalla once a month and if there for breakfast, plenty to explore on the menu here.

Arrived for lunch we choose the Caesar salad and the Pastrami Tart. was the best Caesar I have had and the Tart was amazing
