Review Seasons Restaurant - Berwick

Michael Bacalja
Ordered takeaway from uber. Wish i could post zero stars. Absolutely disgusting. Cimpletwly inedible amd unrecognizable l. Ordered the chicken and black and the chicken was so overcooked it was like a pics of cardboard. The supposed black bean sauce was just a thick too of disgrace. My partner oredered the sezechaun need and hers was worse than mine. Not even sure it was beef. So bad was the meal that the dog wasn't even sure it was edible. How this place is still open is beyond reason. Should be shut down

Got takeaway from this place. The beef is SUPER SUPER smelly. Can't even have one bite so I had to cook something else instead. Do not recommend this place.

The chicken was so overcooked and dry I thought I was going to break a tooth. This was once a great restaurant, I won't order from here again.

I'm impressed with how disgusting the food was. Never will I ever order from here again. Yuck! Beware! Stay away!.

After scouring the internet for a Chinese restaurant that was open and delivered on New Years day, I stumbled across this one. Desperate, and succumbing to post celebration cravings, I eagerly placed an order at the restaurant (my regular Chinese restaurant is fantastic, so big shoes were to be filled here). The employee manning the phones and taking the orders was really friendly, and there was no language barrier at all, so the ordering process was really quick and easy. I was also advised that the order would take approx 70 mins to arrive (we ordered early knowing this could be an issue) and I was more than happy to wait. The food, was not fantastic. Several factors, perhaps due to high volume of orders the quality just wasn't there on this day? Or perhaps my expectations were too high, in any case, the food was edible, but I likely wont place another order here.

Went for dinner 7/10/17. Staff have no idea of menu & didn't understand English. Kept asking if I was having takeaway & I repeatedly said I was dining in & indicating table. They brought me entre & main together. I sent main back. The short soup had good flavour but some sort of pepper that made me choke & cough every mouthful. Never had that experience b4. The duck was I think reheated after over 40 mins to get it back! It was overcooked & sweet sauce smelled off. Was not enjoyable. The veg were only broccoli with each meal, not Chinese veg at all and some were brown & old, past fresh. I will never return. Terrible service, food, quality & poor atmosphere.

It's ok but not great. Best part of our takeaway was the prawn crackers. They kept putting us on hold when we called up to order. Once I got there I had to wait a while more before it was ready. The chicken cashew was average. The crab claw wasn't nice at all. The won tons were ok. The coconut butter prawns weren't great. For the price we paid for it wasn't worth the quality. And because of that I won't be going back there again.

This place has now reopened as Roast’d with new menus. I have never been to Seasons before but just tried dining there after they reopened as Roast’d.

The food are amazing! We went there because we saw their ads on pecking duck. And their pecking duck does not disappoint! Pancake was very good, the duck itself was nice as well. The banquet came with duck soup and duck fried rice as well. The soup was quite sweet, not to my liking but others liked it well. Fried rice was very nice. Plenty of duck meat for sure, and free red wine as part of the promotion.

We also tried the fried barramundi with sweet sour sauce, pork mixed roasts, soya chicken noodle, and the drunken noodle with beef. Everything was good, we ended up feeling so full.

The only drawback was the jasmine rice was too dry, so tough to eat. Maybe a good thing so we ate less carb haha but hey no big deal the rest of the food was still amazing.

Service was also great, all staff was very helpful and food came so quick.

Will definitely come again as we now don’t need to travel far for pecking duck.

Seasons has always been a reliable local Chinese restaurant for me. Whenever I crave Chinese food, I would mostly get takeaway and order via Menulog, but whenever we do dine in, we tend to order some special things we don't usually order when we are at home. Some dishes should ONLY be ordered for dining in, as they don't taste as good delivered. The Chef's Special Coconut Butter Prawns for example, taste best fresh. Standard Chinese food items are consistently of standard, like your Honey Chicken and Sweet and Sour Pork and Black Bean Beef etc. Their entree menu is really good too, go for the San Choy Bow and Soft Shell Crabs if you are dining in. If you are getting takeaway, get some satay chicken or curry puffs! I like the Chilli Green Beans and some of their Thai-ish items that you can order online is good too - surprisingly do good Pad Thai! Overall, pretty happy with the quality of their food and the service is usually pretty prompt.

Should have known once we walked in lights covered in cob webs, and seats taped up with sticky tape and the restaurant was empty, no one there at 6.45. Anyway thought we would stay. Firstly pushed to order drinks, so we did, then after coming we realised kids meals came with drinks which the waitress did not tell us!! 2 kids on the table. Would not swap them over. We ordered 3 x $40 banquets. Entree came out, and 2 of us got ours, finished and the third person still did not have theirs...not a good start, but we understood things happen. Our mains then came out, we sat and waited 10 minutes for the rice. They gave ours to someone else who came in after us. 10 minutes we waited so we could start eating the food sitting on our table. Food was not great, too much thickener in the foods, sauces were like jelly. Then the straw that broke the camels back, time to pick the dessert from the banquet and we all wanted fried ice cream....they then told us they did not have any!!!...how can a chinesse restaurant run out of the most popular dessert before service as it was empty. We were offered kids ice cream with topping instead!!! We ordered it, but upon reflection we were not happy with this I could eat vanilla ice cream at home...so we asked to cancel it an perhaps get a discount on the banquet but they bluntly said no...not willing to do anything even after I complained that we should have been told upfront when we committed to the $40 banquet that all options are not available. We ended up getting up and leaving without dessert or teas as per banquet. I asked to speak to a manager as the 2 waiters just said no and sorry and just stared at me, but no he just screamed from out the filthy back kitchen. So I went to pay, went to use my entertainment discount voucher and they refused to accept that as well!! So dodgy.. rude with no customer service and bad hygiene. I would gave been happy with the offer of s free drink or $5 discount to compensate for selling me something they could not deliver but no!! TERRIBLE. To rub salt in the wound, they gave the table who got our rice the rice for free as they got it wrongly, but would not do anything for us who did not get what we were paying for. Obviously desperate for Money and I should have known better, when it was empty on a Friday night. I will never go back!!! Worst $139 I have ever spent...I would have been more satisfied going to mcdonalds for ice cream...DONT DO IT TO YOURSELF. I have never written one if theses, but so wrong how we were treated !!! This mob should not be able to treat customers like this.

Surprising find in Berwick. Seasons Chinese Restaurant. Walked in and first impression is it felt like a Chinese restaurant in a regional town with two young Caucasian serving staff. The chefs are Asian. Large spacious restaurant. The service was very prompt, friendly and thoughtful. The dishes we ordered were authentic enough and better than average for an outer suburban Chinese restaurant.

We ordered Malaysian style Prawns with curry leaves and toasted coconut flakes, Asian style steamed Barramundi with soy sauce and spring onions, Special Fried Rice. The SFR came out first. Followed by the waiter who apologised and said the SFR had come out too early, before the main dishes were ready. Thoughtful service to point this out, some restaurants wouldn't have bothered.

Prawns were tasty and a generous size. The red chillies gave it a real kick if you bite into them but otherwise it is not a hot dish overall so will suit both chilli and non-chilli loving taste buds. The toasted coconut is a bit sweet.

The Barramundi had good chunky meat - nicely steamed and tasty. The soy sauce is salty, as you would expect but it sits at the bottom of the dish so you can either drizzle less or more onto the fish when you are eating.

The Special Fried rice is good - decent sized prawns, not the mini prawns you get in normal SFR. I like the beaten egg stir fried into the rice, which is a must have for me. It tastes even better with a dash of pepper!

Oh they start with a large serve of complimentary prawn crackers.

Good, solid, tasty meal. Better than average outer suburb Chinese restaurant.

Extroadinarily fast service, Seasons restaurant offers an array of asian ciusine from across the continent. Would return for the fried wontons. Yum! Sweet and sour chicken and fried rice were also delicious. Average pricing I will return:)

Seasons has a nice atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. This was our second time and this time I ordered the Thai green curry which was faultless. The roti naan was a bit too oily and didn’t look appealing but dipped in the curry was delicious. My partner ordered mee goreng style noddles which was also good. The thing I liked most is that they used chicken breast in both their curry & noddles unlike some places where you get fat chicken thigh pieces. I will certainly again for that Thai curry!

This is the first time ordering from Seasons and unfortunately it will be our last.

Food was average at best.

We ordered special fried rice, singapore noodles and chicken with seasonal vegetables in szechuan sauce.

I don't want to give this place a bad review as the staff seem very freindly and the place seemed clean even though we picked our food up.

Rice was a bit gluggy and there was nothing really special about it,not even a bit of a smokey flavour from the wok, bland boring and tasteless ,My mother makes better fried rice and we aern't even asian.

Singapore noodles were so heavy on seasoning and salt we could barely eat them, stuck together with what seemed a very heavy concentration of curry paste.

The chicken was way over seasoned and the szechuan sauce had this synthetic almost artificial smell to it.

Overall not very authentic, rice gluggy tasteless, noodles over seasoned and too heavy on the curry paste, chicken very salty and flavours too strong to enjoy.

Service and food was delicious! Ordered the banquet and it was a huge amount of food - we nowhere near finished it between the two of us.

The standout was the friendly service. You know when you are seated and only have to wait 2-3 minutes and the staff apologise for the wait, they really value customer service! Will return :)

EDIT 15/12/16 - Cassidy - After getting Seasons fresh pamphlet dropped in our mailbox this week, we wanted to get some food delivered tonight, only to be told the wait time was over 1.5 hours. Yeah I don't think so - this is the second time they've said this to us, so this is clearly a standard thing they do to deter deliveries. We hung up and are ordering elsewhere.

Cassidy – we ordered the Golden Mixed Entrée platter, crispy soft shell crab, sweet & sour pork, spicy BBQ chicken and special fried rice. From the platter I tried the prawn toast and the spring roll. The prawn toast was lovely. The texture of the toast was really nice and I would likely order it again. The spring roll was standard, and I had it with some of their lemon dipping sauce which was delicious. The soft shell crab was tasty, a nice change from wontons for me.

In the mains my dish was the pork, it was good, and there were some nice crispy battered pieces in amongst it. Rice was also tasty, the only minor downfall was that there was literally only three prawns in a large serving. All in all I really enjoyed the meal and am looking forward to going back.

Sneakers – when I ordered the spicy BBQ chicken I was expecting to receive some chicken pieces with crispy skin covered in a spicy powder, but the meal was a wok-cooked chicken with some veggies and a delicious spicy sauce. Even though it was far from what I was expecting I found it to be delicious with just the right amount of heat and good flavour at the same time. The fried rice was great, and I liked the sweet & sour pork. The only way they could improve would be by making the pieces of pork a bit bigger. Their satay chicken skewers (from the platter) were really good. The glasses were amongst the cleanest glasses I’ve ever seen at a restaurant which is awesome. Sadly on the flip side the cutlery good use a little work. With friendly service we’ll be sure to go back again.

Cleanliness of the restaurant – 7.5/10

Cleanliness of plates/cutlery/glasses – 10/10 (plates & glasses); 5/10 (cutlery)

Cleanliness of the menus – 7/10

Service – 8/10

Wait time for food –average

Food overall – 8/10

Ambience – 7/10

Value for money – 7.5/10

Very Delicious!! Great service and good food. The owners are very passionate about what they do. I think they has turned this place to be a wonderful restaurant in this area very well. Try this place. You will love it.

Always love their food. Both takeaway and table service is quick and fast. Their satay chicken noodles are a definite favourite. Relatively inexpensive for the quantity and quality (real chicken breast is used, not pieces of fatty leftovers)

Worst Chinese i've ever eaten. After getting a pamphlet in our letterbox, we decided to give Seasons a go tonight.

It was the worst Chinese food i've ever eaten, and the biggest waste of money! The dumplings were stale and old, very dry. The prawn crackers tasted like oil and seemed like they had been re-cooked over and over again. The spring rolls were miniature and not worth the money.

I won't even bother mentioning the rest. I suggest you do not buy your Chinese food from Seasons. Save your money.

Good Food, Great Service, Cosy Ambience. Our relatives had come over to visit us from overseas and they wanted to take us out for Dinner. After doing some research we found a Chinese restaurant in Berwick (not this one) only to realize that it is actually a take away only place. Not sure where else to go and knowing that our past experiences were reasonably good with Seasons, we went ahead to have our Dinner at this place even though the reviews on the internet haven't been good lately.

From our experience, their service is not just good but great. They really make sure to look after their customers well. We were impressed as going by reviews on the internet me and my wife, both were a little anxious as to how this might turn out to be. But they are just very good. Food, service and the ambiance. Three things that we would look when dining out.

Try this place. You wont be disappointed.

Service not great but food was excellent. A mothers day meal with family.
4 adults and 3 children really enjoyed our choice of banquet and single serve dishes. I had previously stated that the service was bad,. I have since found out that some hired serving staff did not show up up to work on the night of mother day. I apologise for being so harsh in my review of your establishment. Really, it all comes down to the food. We could not find any faults with the food. It was delicious. Even the grand children got stuck into it. Lor and Wannika, thank you, we will return to enjoy your food again.

Not too shabby. After reading the reviews we were surprised that our meal was actually quite nice! We are really fussy and find it hard to find good takeaway and restaurant experiences but out of 3 mains and 3 entrees they were all delicious?! The beef is real steak slices and so tender. Everything else was great. Maybe they've gotten their act together? dunno but thumbs up.

Didn't like the food and the price made it even harder to swallow. Won't be back.

Ordered a home delivery, girl taking the order kept getting everything wrong. Order came and the lemon chicken was NOT fresh at all!. Very regretful and won't be eating from there again. Do not recommend, unfortunately ruined my favorite dish, it was stale, soggy and chewy!! Unedible! The complimentary prawn crackers were the freshest thing I received in my order.

Why?!. Why would you go here when you can go to Wok'd on the next block!!!! mmmm Wok'd

-----01 Jun, 2014-----

Life threatening cooks with total disregard. Every single time we order honey chicken and make it exrltremely clear that they can't put cashew nuts on top due to a serious allergy, they put cashews on! We are regular customers but after it happening so many times we asked for some sort of compensation as the rest of our food always gets cold while they make another lot. We weren't offered as much as a free dim sim. If you have allergies, don't go to Seasons because they don't care. We are going elsewhere from now on.

Great food, lovely service. The service was great and friendly. Food was excellent. I had their signature dish suggested by the chef called coconut butter king prawns which have loads of prawns. We really enjoyed.

Awful takeaway, had to feed to the dog. Greasy! Avoid at all costs.

Got takeaway for dinner last night. Only word that comes to mind is AWFUL. Will never come back here, tasted like the food had been reheated!

Stylish ambience. Good food, polite and responsive service. Will certainly make this a favourite spot to enjoy with the family...

Love it. Love that we now have an affordable Roast Duck around the area. The price is reasonable and affordable for all other dishes. The service was very fast also. They also do lunch special of $10.80 that comes with soup, rice and main and a glass of wine that I'm yet to try!!
Oohslater
Horrible. Fatty chicken and beef, could have bought the sauce from the supermarket. Will not be eating there again
Maria
Take away poor quality has not changed. We were so excited there was new management and new hope for tasty chinese near by. Menu looks great but what a dissapointment. The cooks must be the same. Duck was so overcooked was like rubber sole, so was pork. Fried rice was as bland as they come. Only positive is their dumplings and meat spring roll. If they are really serious about change then the cooks need to be more skilled at cooking real chinese food. Price did not match quality. Never again!!!

Pleasant experience. Ginger beef and spring onion. Good flavours, nice blend of vegetables and tender beef. Very happy with the dish.
Sambal combination noodles. Plenty of beef, pork and chicken. Not oily at all. Very good flavours and texture. Another good dish.
Kung Pao chicken. Not the kung pao I am used to from tradional chinese cusine you get in chinatown. Had a sweet and sour sauce taste which is not how it should be. Sweet and sour is a bit bogan.
Service was great. Chef came out and asked for feedback which really impressed us. Very friendly.
Overall it was good. Great value, great service and the new decor is lovely. I prefer a more traditional cusine but for a suburban asian restaurant its one of the best in the area. I will return shortly and try their curry dishes (thai) and give you an update.

AWFUL. TERRIBLE.. Please take my advice and do not eat here. We went on Saturday night for an early tea. Only 2 other tables were occupied. Ordered 2 starters, 2 mains. One of our starters arrived after a 20 minute wait. The other starter never arrived. 20 mins AFTER we finished, one of the 4 waitress finally decided to clear our empty plate, and wasn't even aware our second starter never arrived. I told her don't bother with it, we just want our mains. The only thing that made me feel better was over hearing the waitress's explaining to the other 2 tables that their had been some mix up in the kitchen. One table ended up leaving. We should have followed. Our mains of salt & pepper squid and Singapore noodles arrived. Terrible!! Unless you like oil. The noodles were the greasiest, over cooked lump of sludge ever. The squid was semi-tasty, but again too oily. I told the waitress it was terrible and got a quiet sorry. To top it off, the eat in menu is between $2-3 more than the take away. I'm not sure what the extra charge is for, but it's definitely not for service or serving size. Or quality. Perhaps instead of advertising they are "under new management", they should bring back the old management, and all the staff that must of left with them. Simply one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. (P.S.I do not believe the review below me could possibly be about the same restaurant. Especially the part about the chef coming out to see how the meals were. As where we ate, I don't believe the was even a "chef" working that night, seeing as no one seemed to care when we complained about our dreadful meals.)

This place is awesome best chineese food I have ever had in Aussie 9/10 highly recommended Eat in or tale away all good
Julia Jensen
Aussie Chinese at it's best. Asa the title says, if you are after authentic chinese, then don't bother. Bland, boring, tasteless
Kimberly Peterson
So basically, it is SO wonderful that Seasons are now the New and Improved Chinese restaurant. However, there is room for more improvement. As an example, I will never, ever again order any noodle dishes as takeaway. Their noodle dishes are so common, like any typical Aussie Chinese Noodle Box takeaway place and is sadly not restaurant quality in my opinion. They need a little bit more "oomph" in the flavours of their noodle dishes... sorry if I'm being harsh! I will also avoid ordering food that may get soggy as they get transported and just save those for dining in e.g. the amazing Coconut Butter King Prawns, yummm!
