Review The Vineyard Kitchen - Bickley

Julia Foong
Such a GEM. We were actually lucky to find a table today as normally it's wise to make reservation beforehand. There are good menu options, wine tasting and the food was delicious. They also have kids options and they are well served. Fair price and the ambience is lovely. We really enjoyed there today.🤗

Hidden gem in Perth hills. Quality European inspired cusine within a casual atmosphere and nestled within greenery. The owner as a bit of a Robert Redford vibe. They have a wine tasting section as well, hence the name. Despite growing vines locally, not all is within the estate and production is outsourced. But still a fine drop.

A beautiful picturesque venue. Quiet but not too far out from the city centre either. The staff and service were wonderful and we partook in the wine tasting to make a decision for our lunch pairing. All of the choices were superb and made with locally sourced ingredients. Chardonnay was the winner as it was absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend for a special and intimate meal or celebrations.

A gorgeous luncheon enjoyed by my family. A beautiful hidden gem, very welcoming friendly, prompt service. Food is made with love and care and the wine is just as good. Highly recommend and look forward too visiting again.

Great food and service. Wonderful atmosphere. Hard to believe this sort of place exists on our doorstep as opposed to driving down south for 4 hours for a similar experience.

Amazing food, lovely location

We organised our sisters Hens party here in the form of a long table lunch. The food is amazing, the wine is of course delightful and the staff rreally went above and beyond for us. It's such a charming location and I can't recommend it enough.

Fitted us in just before the kitchen closed. Good whiting and lovely beef cheeks. The coffee was better than usual for restaurants. Staff nice and friendly. Georgous surrounds and gardens.

The entrees are very small portion, but the main were good big portions and delicious, the lamb was better than the duck and dessert was a delicious chocolate pie. I didn't try the wine but the prices are reasonable for a good bottle of wine and the place is rustic and romantic, I didn't like the table next to the door with small space for people to move.

Great location with a stunning scenery and terrific food. Had the three course meal deal for $50 and all our dishes were of high quality standard. Ingredient used were fresh, food was cooked well and dishes were all beautifully plated. Highlight dishes for us:<br/>  👍  Slow cooked pork belly <br/>  👍  Seared carnavon scallops <br/>  👍  Crispy quail <br/>  👍  Holoumi, baby beet, freekah and beetroot salad - a real generous portion size<br/>  👍  Dark chocolate peanut butter pie<br/>👍👍 Beef cheek on polenta- the beef cheek is so meltingly tender and full of flavour! <br/><br/>We also enjoyed the Cheese board; great with some wine. Honeycomb was nice, except would have preferred some salted nuts/seeds with it to give it a little more crunch and to balance the sweetness out a little more. <br/><br/>Staff are very attentive and friendly, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable here. Definitely a highly recommended place to enjoy a sunny and breezy afternoon with excellent food and drinks.

Fantastic location on a sunny spring day. Was lovely to sit out in the shade surrounded by the beautiful garden. Food was outstanding. Definitely want to return!

Amazing duck. The best I've ever tasted in a long time, well done! Attentive staff, great atmosphere, short drive from perth with plenty of parking. My kind of weekend!

Took my daughters here for the Friday lunch special. A well thought out balanced menu. Left having had a most enjoyable dining experience. Food, ambience, service all good. Will be back.

Great setting and rustic dining area. Food was fantastic and the staff and owners were friendly and attentive. Chorizo entrée, lamb main and creme brulee were the highlights although all the dishes were excellent.

Such a beautiful picturesque outlook and great for alfresco dining. Interesting and delicious menu with such tasty fresh food. The wines are very tasty and you can buy direct from the cellar door. Only a 30 minute drive so closer than you think. Great service. Love coming here with a consistent menu although would be nice if there was some variation.

Would recommend! <br/>Pro's: Great meals, simple, elegant, tasty, bang for buck (on a Thursday - lunch special). Good, barnyard like setting.<br/>Con's: Service a bit poor, but not bad. 1 wait staff for over 15ppl. <br/>Would recommend this place & rec booking in advance.<br/>Recommend - taking a glass of wine to the hillside to drink in the sunshine on the grass!

Had the fabulous $50 lunch with a great glass of Semillon. Amazing selection of entrees, mains and sweets. Such a perfect setting and the wood fire kept us toasty. Brooke looked after us perfectly and deserves so much of credit for making our lunch so enjoyable.

I can't think of a prettier place to have lunch on a Sunday afternoon -  tables with white linen set under the trees outside the cellar door of the Brookside Winery made for a picturesque afternoon. The Vineyard is only open for a couple of days a week but were lucky enough to be able to book a table for a late lunch at short notice. <br/>The food on our first visit was simple and delicious - we shared a  chargrilled squid stuff with nduja,  chargrilled chorizo and fremantle octopus, a very rich risotto and a fantastic free range crispy chicken dish with morcila washed down with a glass of their very good bubbly. <br/><br/>A second visit was less successful but good value for money at $50 for three courses and a glass of wine (available on Fridays). A beetroot and goats cheese brûlée sounded interesting and looked gorgeous on the plate but lacked flavour.  The pork cutlet was tender and tasty but the duck was a little disappointing.  No major complaints but it seems we made better choices on our first visit.<br/><br/>Service was professional and overall it's just a lovely spot for lunch in the hills.

The Vinyard kitchen is a hidden gem! We had a lunch with friends and the the location staff and food are all fantastic.<br/><br/>I tried the Chargrilled nduja filled baby squid with romesco sauce and Spiced lamb shoulder and feta parcel with a light green salad. This was wonderfully presented and perfectly cooked.<br/>Our other dishes were -Haloumi, baby beet and freekah salad with roast pistachios and beetroot puree and Pale ale battered tiger prawns with harissa mayo, which were all very tasty and and nicely presented.<br/>For desert we had the dark chocolate peanut butter pie which was 'to die for'<br/>If you hav'nt been here you must try it!!<br/><br/>p.s The Semmillon was fantastic , and we will be going back for the chardonnay which was not ready when we visited.

My wife and I enjoyed a romantic Valentine's Day lunch under the trees at The Vineyard Kitchen. The biggest challenge by far was choosing from an amazing array of delicious menu items. We weren't disappointed with our choices. Superb baby calamari with a spicy sausage filling, an inspired beetroot brulee, perfectly cooked pumpkin and taleggio risotto and a delicious twice-cooked duck leg. Perfectly accompanied by wines from Brookside and finished off with a couple of sumptuous desserts, following a relaxing, thoroughly enjoyable two hours, we made a booking for next weekend to try out the menu items that we missed out on the first time. Simply awesome.

Loved the food, location and staff is really friendly. Super recommend it! It's very unique as you sit by the garden, river and by the vineyard.

The Vineyard Kitchen is set on the slope of the Brookside winery. A driveway leads you through scenery straight out of the Secret Garden, past the restaurant and a very small parking area. The tables were positioned by the brook and under the trees in a picturesque garden setting. There was a nice relaxed ambiance around the tables, drinking wine under big old trees. Wish I could spend every Sunday like this!  It was a great spot for a family Sunday lunch and although it was quite cool (weather forecast for rain), the blankets were well appreciated. The cellar door was open for wine tasting and the lunch menu offered local food, wine and champagne from the winery. <br/><br/> The staff were HAPPY and friendly, more noticeably they were proactive on a number of occasions.<br/>I ordered the pork cutlet and it was beautifully cooked and served with buttery cabbage and pancetta. The twice cooked duck<br/> with mascarpone risotto was delicious. The slow cooked lamb dish was served in filo pastry, interesting and just as tasty.<br/> We shared a bottle of the 2014 Brookside Methode Champenoise. I’m not well versed in wine lingo however I loved that it was dry and strong in taste.<br/>Following a good meal, we all wanted (were excited) to see the dessert menu. The crème brulee custard was creamy thick and the burnt sugar layer crispy, my favourite park is cracking the top layer. One of the group ordered the poached pear parfait.<br/>All in all, exceptional local food, happy staff and reasonably priced dishes makes this a true gem for WA. It’s nice to see a down to earth winery, we could tell the owners are passionate about their business and honestly had we not driven past on our way to the mountain bike trails in Kalamunda we would never had known this place existed.<br/>  Everyone in the group is already talking about returning again!

Excellent food. Service was generally friendly but they seemed to be short handed when we were there for a late lunch last Friday, it took quite a while to someone to come get our orders and they didn't tell us about the $45 lunch deal — we ended up paying $91 for two appetizers, two mains, one wine and one dessert instead of $90 for two sets of wine+appetizer+main+dessert. Doesn't quite make sense, does it? I only realized when I saw the bill and remembered the waitress's surprised look when I ordered just one wine and a dessert. Everything was lovely, including the weather and the brook side seating, so I gave a $9 tip, so the money didn't bother me, I just wondered why they assumed we knew of their lunch deal instead of offering the information to us. I even told them we were coming from overseas in my reservation, so they should know we aren't local, and that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary — no "Happy Anniversary!" or anything special though they did allocate a nice table, fair enough, I'm not complaining. Like I say I think the oversight was due to them being shorthanded rather than apathetic. We would still definitely return for the food and ambience if we were ever in Perth again, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a pretty, relaxing and delicious lunch experience. We had the prawns and anchovy ciabatta for appetizers, lamb in filo pastry and duck leg for our mains, choc peanut butter pie with ice cream for dessert — all were scrumptious.

This place is about as good as it gets, especially in spring and autumn. Having said that, we have had a really cosy lunch on a wet winters day near the pot belly stove. <br/>The entrance to the property is picture postcard. In autumn it is absolutely stunning, with the trees looking spectacular. The service has been uniformly friendly on the dozen or so times we have been. The menu is interesting and a cut above anything else in the area, apart from Core.<br/>There could be a better place to go for a weekend lunch in Perth on a nice day; however, I haven't found it.<br/>

My family and I love love LOVE this place! We often go here for a break from the city. It's so peaceful and the food is divine. The family who run the place are lovely and the menu is always interesting. We will always have space for the Vineyard Kitchen in our hearts!

Wow. This place is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful setting on a sunny winters day. Plus the food is to die for and the service really friendly! We had the $45 dollar Friday lunch and thought it was incredible value. Please never ever take the peanut butter pie off the menu!!!

Lunch Vineyard Kitchen. I took a group of ladies for lunch to the Vineyard Kitchen on 16/5/15. Ryan is an amazing chef. The food and the wine was fantastic. Will certainly be returning with more friends in the near future. All of the ladies loved the food and wine and could not stop talking about how great it was.

Pretty well perfect ........ Took mother, sister and brother in law, from Geelong for mothers day, who are keen cafe, food and wine critics ..... WOW !!!<br/>This place is picturesque, with un common autumn english colours in the trees, stream, a variety of eating area's, great service and the owners were friendly and attentive.<br/>Cost was not extravagant, in fact on the very decent side for Perth and just shows what can be achieved when you know you'll get return business. Wines were very nice and the food was of a high standard of quality and presentation.<br/>There are one or two who could learn from The Vineyard Kitchen, its well worth the trip and the driveway alone in autumn.

Lunch in the Vineyard. Have just eaten one of the best meals of my life! Our booking for lunch today was for four adults.<br/>Our Scottish waitress was polite and efficient and the friendly Proprietor's offer of a rug to keep the chill at bay was most appreciative, as was the cushion to make the seat more comfortable. Seated under the canopy of a beautiful tree, we all chose the 3 course $45 luncheon which included a complimentary glass of wine. Our entrees were Creamy Cauliflower Soup, Battered Tiger Prawns and Mushrooms with Feta and all were simply divine.<br/>Mains chosen were Duck Risotto, Chargrilled Pork Cutlet and Spiced Lamb Shoulder Parcel. Again, all meals were absolutely superb. As full as we all were, we made sure there was some space left to fit in our desserts which were Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, Creme Brulee and the Cheese Platter. All so delectable. <br/>We chose to order our teas and coffees to accompany our desserts.<br/>Speaking with other diners, we were all of the same opinion. That the Vineyard Kitchen serves the most amazing food in a truly picturesque setting. Don't wait.

Superb food in a beautiful setting.. We enjoyed a main course here 8 weeks ago and immediately booked the venue for our car club end of year lunch. The lunch was held today, 25 attended, food was beautifully presented, and the three courses well spaced. The presentation and quality of meals was excellent and wine pleasing. We sat outdoors beside the brook, under the shade of the trees. One could not help but enjoy the day. Our compliments to all the staff on excellent service and to chef for a wonderful meal. A superb meal in a beautiful and relaxing setting - all that one could wish for !!

Magic Location. We enjoyed a delicious meal accompanied by some quality wine in a beautiful setting. I could not speak more highly of the food, the attentive service and the gorgeous surroundings. It was the perfect spot for a very relaxed Sunday lunch. I would highly recommend the Vineyard Kitchen.

Rainy day with picturesque views and delicious foods.. I think I just found my new favourite restaurant - which was agreed upon by all 6 of us at the table! We had wine, entrees, main, desserts and coffees. I cannot fault any of the food and the service provided by our lovely waitress topped off the day! I really would love to know the recipe for the chocolate peanut butter pie, DELICIOUS!<br/><br/>The menu is small, but this just means that each and every meal is made to perfection.<br/><br/>Would recommend and I cannot wait to go back!

Brilliant Little Restaurant/Winery. I recently celebrated my birthday at this restaurant and could not have been more impressed; the food, wine and service were all impeccable and the staff could not have been more helpful when organising my function. The venue is also lovely. Highly recommended!

Dilettante. Went for lunch today after looking at the reviews here. The location is fantastic and the owners have made the most of it. The menu was interesting and the food fresh and beautifully presented.<br/><br/>But this is not a spot to come to if you want your food now now - but then why would you in such surroundings? I liked the food put in front of me, but to pick nits, I felt the flavouring/seasoning was slightly off. Maybe it was the pressure of a large table that arrived just before us.<br/><br/>I will undoubtedly return. It is a lovely relaxing spot, the food was nearly very good and not overpriced: we spent about $35 per head, including a bottle of drinkable rose.

Absolutely Amazing!. The Vineyard Kitchen is a little gem. After having lunch there today with my girlfriends, we were all very impressed and cannot wait to return!<br/><br/>We had a beautiful spot soaking up the sunshine, the wine tasting was great, friendly service, fantastic champagne, and the food was absolutely delicious! Simple, fresh and so tasty. The Lamb Parcel was a hit (a recommendation we were not disappointed by). Not to mention the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie which was to die for!!! Such a lovely atmosphere and it is definitely a Bickley Valley must see.

Impressed!!. Wow what a find!! Up from the country for the weekend we thought we should try this place on the recommendations of other foodie friends of ours from down south and we were happy we did. The weather outside was a little gloomy but the day was brightened by a warm greeting and the glow of the fire. We found that although it was a busy day (we were lucky to snare a table I think) the service was prompt and the food was tasty. Yummy lamb parcel!! Would definitely recommend to others and not so sure what the negative comment below was about as we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Mrs. We attended this restaurant today with my family. The service was appalling. We had to ask the waitress to take away our entree dishes. We waited over an hour for our mains to arrive and then when they did arrive the trout was cold in the centre and under cooked. We were offered a glass of champagne to compensate. All of the dishes were cold and tasteless. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Surrounds are beautiful however the owners only attend those that are well dressed. They should treat all customers equally. The menu was very limited in choice.

Gastronomic Delight. This is a hidden gem in the Perth hills. Set in the immaculately maintained gardens of a boutique winery called 'Brookside' is a restaurant that serves some of the finest food we've had. The cassoulet and lamb parcel are a must. The Brookside wines are also excellent. Both are reasonably priced. The setting tops off a truly amazing experience. We highly recommend!

Amazing LOCATION, food and hospitality. Worth revisiting!

A truly unique dining experience, food is so simply beautiful you remember it long after your visit, Staff friendly, open and more than happy to describe what they are offering.. The venue, day or night, is gorgeous and well worth the picturesque drive to the Bickley Valley
Barbara
Ms Barbara. Hey all of you! This is definitely the best bloody place I have visited in my 15 years in Australia. The food, the atmoshpere (who on earth can have such an immaculate gardens???????) Hydrengea is in blossom, persiommons are just about the corner, the lawn is to die for and I can go on and on!<br/>The food oozes South France, the service oozes Geneva and the nature ozzes Bickley WA.<br/>The owners( please let my be european in my introduction and adress the lady firs) Fay and Peter Fels, created the atmosphere only present in fairy tailes.... I do really feel that way when I dine there......

Having wanted to visit the Vineyard Kitchen for such a long time there was a risk that it wouldn’t live up to the hype I created in my mind. But despite the long wait to return back for lunch, it was impossible not to fall in love with this place.
