Review Blackbear Barbecue - Blacktown

This place is awesome! Best Texas style bbq around. Portions are massive - fit for a big dude! The ribs and brisket is a must have and it’s all about the meat (slow cooked, tender, juicy and all the meat jazz there is). Super friendly staff - great service! Nice seating arrangements.. ample parking! Must try.. do check the open and close times before visiting! :)

Great place to get some decent brisket in Sydney. The $33 Hungry Bear Box is a good medium portion for 2 adults. It would have been great if there is an option to buy breads from the menu.

If you are a Burger Pro then you must try this place. O.G burger is another level. I would recommend to go double patty and add onion ring to complete the pachage. Also good environment and friendly staff

Nice American style BBQ smokehouse. I got there around 1230 and a bunch of the stuff was sold out already. Wether people eat here early or lots of takeaways, I dunnoh. Was looking forward to the cheeseburger but with it being sold out I opted for the Southern fried chicken burger and I made it a meal. Burger was a good size and chip had a little bit of spice to them, which I liked. Chicken was nice and crunchy but in general I'm not a fan of the coleslaw that comes with these. Coleslaw tasted fresh and nice and creamy. Bun was good as it sopped up the coleslaw without becoming really soggy. Would like to come back when I could try the cheeseburger or brisket. It's a place I would come back to.

Trash! My disabled grandad could cook brisket less tough and he can’t even use an oven. I got corn that you would assume would be grilled but tasted like it was boiled in sweat. So disappointing because the instagram looks so good. Don’t be fooled by the gram and save your money.

Amazing food, we had 5 people and the went for the Frenzy Box with a couple boxes of wings. Highly recommended.

Decent BBQ & a fair few options on the menu. Probably on the pricier side, but food comes out quick.

Very Solid Place!

Blackbear has some massive beef ribs (a single rib is enough to quench your hunger) but their pork belly is also a massive hit in flavour and tenderness.
⁣
I don't think there's pork belly that tasted as good. When you try it you'll see what I mean. Don't make my mistake in getting just half a box 😂⁣
⁣
The burgers, about ~$10 is of value as you will be satisfied with the what you get.⁣

HUNGRY BEAR BBQ BOX 3.5 🌟
Beef was better than the pork and the sausage was surprisingly good. Not too spicy and super flavourful. The quality of the meats themselves were very good - tender with a good amount of fat, however what was most disappointing was that everything was only lukewarm. It was like everything had been left out after it was cooked.

MAC N CHEESE 3 🌟
Again, was like room temperature. Would have liked if the macaroni was a bit softer/more cooked.

CHICKEN ROLL 3.5 🌟
Better than expected. The bread roll looked really dry and stale but it was actually quite soft. Chicken was pretty good but I think more sauce could have been used.

Overall, decent feed. Beef ribs were sold out by the time we arrived which was only approx 11:30am! So make sure you get there bright and early.

I really enjoyed black bear - however I tried it at a stall opened at Mounties not the restaurant. My favourites were the sausages and pork belly (yessss). Salad I liked - nice balance it gave to the meat and crisps were salty which paired very well too. The beef was quite tough and we didn’t get to the chicken!
Finally gotten a chance to get some brisket from black bear. I’ve recently had it at the winterlight festival at parramatta and it was pretty good! Not going to lie it was a little pricey $30, we got some box deal. There was 2 slices of brisket and 2 slices of pork and sausages and slaw. The brisket was very juicy and tender it was amazing and the pork was very fatty and tender. I can’t wait to try their breakfast range soon!

Horrible experience at Meatstock we were served what could only be described as the worst dry biscuit Brisket I’ve ever had, owners took no responsibility and even questioned what time I ordered as if there was an acceptable time for them to serve rubbish food at $35 for 2 slices of Brisket...never again!

Must Eat. By far one of the best places within a 20km radius. Great ambiance, another great place where you can just go to enjoy your food without the world over your shoulder.

The only downside is that they arent open longer.

+3 standard points for food
+0.5 sides and sauce
-0.5 pork a tad dry
3. Just misses out on a 4

Pork itself was just a tiny bit over done. Banging bbq sauce though, with a strong smokey flavour and a warm peppery sweetness. Slaw chips and pickle all crunchy and well seasoned.

Noise level: normal.

Note that it’s outdoor seating only.
The blokes running the joint are a laugh. Would like to go back for the brisket.

Black Bear in Blacktown (American BBQ)

This place makes you feel that you're in America, the atmosphere feels like your in Texas having BBQ with your mate. The food was awesome, it was savoury, salty and Hearty.

I had the Hungry bear box which cost 25 dollars including Sausages, pork belly and chips. Chips wasn't that great but the meat was amazing! The pork belly was the best part of the meat, it's so tender that it melts in your mouth!

Worth to go if you're hungry for meat :)

BLACK BEAR BBQ

Craving bbq pork and beef brisket this is the place to check out. Soft and flavoursome bbq paired with tangy salsa. Service is great, always accommodating and friendly. Casual layout and dining is mainly outdoors.

Ordered the hungry breaky bear box which comes with pork, beef brisket, sausage, 2 eggs and beans all for $25. This is only available before 10:30am. Enjoyed the coffee there too, it was very smooth.

If only it opened for longer hours during weekdays and opened weekends.

If available definately worth a try.
Black bear BBQ are famous for their food trucks! We sampled their brisket at the Western Sydney 50th anniversary at the parklands. Watching them carve the meat was making us salivate. The meat is charcoal on the outside, juicy and moist on the inside. Bang it in a roll and you have an amazing lunch.
BRISKET 🤤
-
The Lowdown: Their food truck was on display at the Western Sydney Parklands 50th Anniversary celebrations - how could anyone possibly walk past a food truck with a smoker??
We asked if we could get behind the scenes to check out how their rolls are made, and they were kind enough to let us! Watching that brisket get cut... my goodness...
How did it taste?
The brisket was soft and juicy, melt in your mouth type stuff! I exercised serious self control not to jump the counter and run away with the whole brisket slab!
-
Pro Tip: Never walk past a food truck without first checking what they have to offer.
-
Weapon of Choice: 🖖 Hands 🖖
-
Kat Stavrou The Next Rush Western Sydney Food Blog Thewhereto Erik Lee

If their pop up is anything to go by from the Western Parklands 50th Anniversary celebrations at Bungarribee Park - then they've certainly inspired me to come back and check the flagship store out because I'm curious to try out more of the menu! I was lucky enough to try out the beef brisket and pork belly and I'll tell ya there is nothing that beats a slow cooking smoker! EPIC FEED!

Would give this place 4.5 if I could. Located in the industrial area of Blacktown, this is a popular place and If I had to vote, this is Blacktown's best place to eat! There isn't many of these BBQ meat places. I tried the pork belly and chicken Maryland. The pork belly was soft but doesn't melt in your mouth but that's fine,it was still very nice. I've never had pork this way before. Yum! The marinate on the chicken was so good. The tomato salsa was also a great compliment to the meat. It came with potato chips that looks like thins, but the salad was ordinary though I like the pickles with it. Wait wasn't too long and prices are reasonable. They do have seating but it's all outdoors! Worth a trip to try this place!

After following the pre-opening developments of Black Bear BBQ for over a year now, I finally got there for my favourite meal of the day, breakfast.

I came for the brisket but got seduced by the succulent pork belly, oh my Lord, a religious experience.

The bean salad was so bloody tasty even with devils lettuce in it (kale hater here), and the smokey baked beans with chopped up meat through it, delish!

Hubs got the brisket, and while for the most part tender and juicy, the bark flavouring was a little one dimensional but still, very good brisket.

The hot links were flavour bomb city.

Finally the coffee. Phenom! I would drive the 64km round trip just for another piccolo tbh, fab coffee will get me back every single time.

BB BBQ open at Moore Park EQ this weekend for pop ups, so will definitely aim to get down there as it’s much closer, and to try their low and slow glorious meat and poultry offerings with non-breakfast sides

It’s worth traveling to get to this place.
Low and slow, cooked beautifully!
Hungry bear box, $25.
Link, Brisket and Pork!
Sausages was awesome, full of flavour!
Brisket ... one of the best!
Dominant profile flavour is black pepper aroundvthe smoke rings, which I don’t mind at all, simple yet delish!
Pork belly... it was nice, but not my cup of tea, for me personally too much fat, but it was done nicely!
Will try the pork ribs and beef ribs next time!
Tender wood smoked meat. Yum!

Black Bear BBQ sources their produce locally and cooks it low and slow up to 15 hours offering smoked brisket, pork belly, wings and hot links. It is located in the back streets of Blacktown with limited trading hours during the week.

It has been difficult for us to organise to come here as they are only opened on Friday night until sold out. I am not a big meat eater but my husband had tried this once convincing me to want to try it. It was so worth it.

My heart sank when we arrived as it was closed! We checked the website and they were at Bull and Bush, Baulkham Hills. I wasn't going home without trying it so off we went. There was a long line but it moved relatively quickly.

We bought all 4 packs: beef brisket, beef short rib, pork belly and the hungry bear box (brisket, pork and hotlinks). It all came with a side of coleslaw, potato crisps, and house made BBQ sauce. We asked for extra sauce (recommended if you like sauce).

All the meats had a nice smokey flavour and tender. Yummy when dipped in the sauce. The brisket and ribs had a pepper crust which wasn't too spicy. Nice suttle flavours. Good sized servings. I really enjoyed the hot links. The sausage was spicy and soft inside, shame there was only one. I also enjoyed the pork belly, there wasn't too much fat. The coleslaw was a nice combination of white and purple cabbage, corn, capsicum, carrot, coriander, shallots, and black sesame seeds. It tasted fresh and crunchy. The sauce tasted like there was cumin in it, I didn't mind it as it wasn't very strong, it was nice when eaten with the meat. I'm not a fan of eating potato chips with my meat, I prefer to eat them on its own, and it did not change my mind this time around.

Verdict: Definitely worth trying everything. If you like spicy, the hot links have a nice kick of spice. Will be back to try the buffalo wings and Maryland chicken.
Low and slow. That's the ethos behind Black Bear BBQ, serving up Texan-style woodsmoked barbecue. You'll find them in the back streets of Blacktown, feeding a non-stop queue of hungry tradies and office workers. There's nothing fancy here. Just massive serves of meat served up in takeaway cardboard boxes, and that's exactly the way the locals like it.

Such a homey environment, staff were super nice and the cooks/chefs are true meat blokes who know what they’re talking about. The entire place smells of smoked meat as they’re smoking it in massive Texas looking barrels on the side. THE MEAT WAS ABSOLUTELY JUICY! The ribs were SOOOO TENDER! The salad and crisps chips work really well with the meat. I’ve only had once encounter where the beef brisket was slightly dry but there was dipping sauce on the side :) I go there whenever I have the time and will continue to come and support them!

MEEEEEEEAT! Black Bear BBQ in Blacktown, is run by pit masters Ben Huppatz, Glen Ellis and Haydn Graham and I've gotta say, I reckon it's the best damn barbecue in Sydney! Their beef short rib gives La Barbecue in Texas a run for their money!
